I’ve been running dungeons constantly with the Ranger and have found this class to be amazingly versatile and by simply switching utilities for the right encounter (am I going to be a turret or do I need to kite) The speed does not decrease.
I’ve been running CoF path 1 constantly with my ranger, guardian, ele, and engi. I can tell you that ranger comes out last even all classes go zerker build. It’s impossible to clear it under 6 minutes with 4 rangers and a mesmer…. well, let’s just say this, any combination of classes are faster than 4 rangers. I would really like to see a video of dungeon runs other than CoF path 1 where pets never die, because let’s face it, that path is just too easy.
CoF path 1 =/= the whole game
just sayin…. there is more to this game then a broken dungeon
I’ve made my point in bold, hope that helps you seeing it.
So… The guardian swords attacks are easily avoidable, to get hit by them you’d have to be an ’idiot.
The ranger longbow attacks are somehow… not?
Your arguments run counter to themselves. I don’t even know what to say.
Also no one thinks guardian’s are ‘OP’ because of their damage output. They have decent damage with extremely good staying power and extremely good group support + a metric kitten ton of condi removal.
One dodge roll and there goes half of your rapid fire, another for your barrage. Try dodge the guardians sword combo. Guess what, you’re still waiting the 4 second cool down, he already caught up with you using flashing blade and judge’s intervention.
This is the point I am trying to make. I don’t believe the Ranger class was designed to be Uber DPS kill everything in 3 hits type of class. Which is why if you compare it with a test that tests DPS… the results are obvious.
Its like judging how good a fish is by making it climb a tree.
So you’re saying Anet’s advertisement of “any class can do anything” is basically a lie?

No it doesn’t. There are two stats, toughness and defense, unless your armor has toughness for bonus stat, it will not boost your toughness.
Defense does not equal toughness.
All armors give defense, but defense does not affect toughness stat. In fact, it’s the opposite. The trait is only useful when you go in deep into the trait line that boosts your toughness and wear armors that include toughness as a bonus stat. But yes, it’s a good trait regardless of profession for those who wants to be sturdy but still do some damage.
Bumping with my own, which I forged just yesterday. Took me a little over a month of around 6 gold per day from CoF. (Already had around 150 gold sitting around before I decided to make it.)

Thanks for the videos! They really helped a lot!.
What is the current meta for this game?
For open-world PvE: Any class works as long as you know how to play them. Elementalist will have a harder time early on.
For dungeons: 4 warriors and 1 mesmer, that’s the most common and wanted team for most dungeons, guardian is great for finding teams too. Rangers are somewhat hated for their pets die too fast even with amazing micro-managing skills.
For PvP: Majority are bunkers regardless of class, trap rangers who counter the bunkers, and mesmers for utilities.
For WvW solo: Thief and elementalist being the best, others are okay.
For WvW zerg: Doesn’t matter really. Whichever zerg has the better coordination and number wins.
My greatest respect still goes to that Charr ranger who had sunrise and dual drakes that I met in CoE the other day.

All transformation tonics last 15 minutes max, but endless tonics have infinite uses.
Ok, Outlaw’s pants, Noble’s boots, unfortunately I could not find a shoulder to match the feathery theme, nor could I find one that doesn’t make body proportion totally weird, so I chose the temple shoulders to cover it all.
Edit: Invader’s shoulders should work too.

There is a way to do that, but it’s 100% against the code of conduct and other rules they have. So don’t even try, you will get banned if you do it.
Arah gloves and human tier 2 boots. If your character isn’t human then try Priory boots.
Bunkers are afraid of condition damage because it bypass their armor/toughness, go in deep into the skirmishing and wilderness survival lines, take traps as utilities with short bow as main weapon. Longbow will hurt bunkers a little, but it does only direct damage(unless with bleed on crit trait/sigil) and they usually heal faster than you can burst.
Edit: Forgot to add, ranger has tons of access to poison, further cripple bunkers’ healing abilities. Even if a guardian blows all his shout to cleanse your poison, you can just apply more poison(with bleeds and burning)!

Crystin Cox!
Oh wait… that’s the cause of RNG and gem store gamble…..
Oh hey, I made my 300 gold+ investment on Volcanus(still a work in progress, 200 moltens left), looks like I made the right decision.
I pity those who are still using longbow and saying it’s still viable. Hiding in zerg and hiding behind teammate in dungeon must be fun. Good thing I changed to GS build a looooooooooonnng time ago.
However, they still haven’t fix lick wound on uneven ground. Just tested in PvP, pet can’t even rez on a small ramp.
Considering some people have already gotten the laurels and spent them, your only option is to suck it up and deal with it.
I would have recommended you to play ranger yesterday, it was by far the best ranged dps profession. However, after the patch, my suggestion is, warrior. Just play warrior if you want easy mode in PvE.
I honestly get the most destroyer lodestones/cores from the heavy miner bags from the dredge fractal and from the maw chest. I get them pretty regularly.
The time it takes to finish daily fractal can be used to run CoF path 1 for at least 4 times or more. While FotM has a chance of rares dropping, CoF always guarantee the same reward for the initial few runs.
From my own experience of making Volcanus…. DON’T farm PvE just for destroyer lodestones. Locations are too few and the drop rates are too low for PvE farming to be efficient. Mega Destroyer event last too short of a time and not always there, bags are easy to farm but really really hard to get destroyer lodestone or core out of them. My advise for you is to farm CoF path 1 with omnom bar and/or gilded infusion. Use the money you earned to buy lodestones or cores from the trading post.
Sometimes you can buy cores and forge them into lodestones yourself to save money, but you’ll have to check the prices of cores, lodestones, and crystalline dust. Also, a small tip that you should know is that if you want to buy them with gold, don’t buy now. Wait until one or two weeks after the April update.
Idk, even a lot of high-end PvPers have stated their concern on backstab’s risk vs damage on several state of the game interviews. And Anet team is known to balance everything around PvP, so I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a learn to play issue.
Its my experience over many many games that the high-end pvpers tend to be even more whiney and self entitled than the new players.

If you run dungeons a lot, for example, CoF, 20% gold from monster is definitely for you. Slave Driver and Searing Cauldron Effigy gives a total of around extra 15 silver with omnom bar and gilded infusion. If you’re doing AC, a lot more mid-bosses drop gold.
With magic find, you don’t get guaranteed reward every run, and you will only have those 30%, which is pretty low, because a full MF set will only slow your team down in dungeons unless all your members are using MF. It’s only good for open world farming, for example, Orr events.
For future references, I recommend this site, it has almost every armor piece, where you could get them, and their chat codes, other than some unobtainable pieces.
I thought the Trading post was down so I logged out, hoping it would work when I log back on, then got the same error too.
Was it on NA servers or EU?
It was on Jade Quarry, NA server.
I was the first one there but had to leave early, it’s a shame that I didn’t get to meet more fellow rangers.
you met me though didn’t you?
Yeah, was hoping to meet more there.
Bowl of Polutry and Leek Soup decreases the duration of conditions that are on you, but not increasing duration of those you apply. The person who told you that had it wrong.
Yes, you’ll need to buy runes every time you change build. So what people normally do is to prepare at least 2 full sets of armors with the stat that you want for each build and then stick your runes in them. Every time you switch build, you switch armor set. There are no other method that allows you to quickly changing build with your armor.
Just transmuted 2 Vigil boots for my OoW ranger yesterday. So yes, the method still works.

I know for a fact that Caithe has unique looks because I tried to make an exact replica of her and her face and hair options cannot be chosen in character creation.
I believe the other members of Destiny’s Edge all have unique looks that cannot be recreated as well, but I am much less sure on this.
Caithe’s face is unique, but her hair is not, Rytlock has a unique face also, Eir and Zojja are easily replicable, and no one wants to look like Logan.
1.5k here, have 5 lvl 80’s, currently farming to make an exotic greatsword (Volcanus), estimated time is around 1 month of farming. Once that’s done, I’ll be starting to visit and finish every jumping puzzle and mini dungeons in the game (I have only done the minority of them) with my new sword.
Edit: And probably focus on getting WvWvW bonuses after that.

i am starting up a guild, named Rangers Guild fs (fs is for Far Shiverpeaks, my server).
A: rangers only, nothing else. You got a mesmer/thief/warrior/guardian/engineer/necro or ele aswell? too bad for you, only rangers are allowed to represent the guild.
If i catch you representing the guild on something else then a Ranger, you will get ONE warning sent by mail. Were you have 48 hours to “un-represent” the non-ranger class. If you dont reply, comply or tell me to shove it, you will thrown into a pit together with my angry little boar, bacon, who will tear you to bits.
I think these are the parts that turn people off, just saying.
Keep it up warriors from SoR and BG! I loooooove the badges!
Yeah, I love getting badges off JQ warriors too, don’t even have to try.
If you want bursty, single target only damage, I would say ranger does it best. But when it comes to AoE, GC ele would be a better choice.

Warrior with Signet of the Rage, banners, and boon duration trait line/runes.
My guild has 2 leaders with all permissions, and the rank below it has every permission including admin lower ranks but not editing ranks. So even if both of our leaders were banned, the guild can still function perfectly fine.
It has the Norn cultural tier 2 weapon skin.

There’re three kinds of rangers, those who despite pets, never want to learn them, complain and re-roll type, those who tolerate pets but never spent enough time to learn them, average player, and those who learn what their pets’ weaknesses and strengths are, and learn to micro-manage their pets, the above average ones.
Even if you have a buffer pet, it’ll go on to aggressive once you use its skill. What’s important for new rangers to know is that ranger is easy to learn, but hard to master. Its class mechanic, the pets, actually need a lot of attention than people might think. You have to manage its health and position very well, sometimes even sacrifice your own heal skill when you’re full health so it could stay alive. Keep in mind that if the pet dies, your damage will be cut down significantly.
You should send a support ticket specify your friend’s ID and your ID, then maybe they could trace the mail, or maybe find out that you’re just trying to scam.
immobility stealth
Male ranger
F1 command(attack)
“Aim for the throat!”
Do you mean; “Go for the Throat?”
Yeah, I guess I kinda remembered it wrong.
Ranger could be well glass canon if traited for it, but because pets are a core mechanic of the profession, you can’t go stow them forever and it’ll just cripple your overall damage output. You can choose 2 buff pets (red moa/jungle stalker), make them stay in passive all the time and don’t have to make your pets fight if you feel like they die too quickly.
Here are 2 dps oriented builds that you can look into:

Alright thanks. That seems obvious now. Citadel of FLAME.
Oops, my bad, didn’t notice the typo.
