Also, I can see by the replies in this thread that I seem to be the only person that would rather work and feel good about grabbing a tier 1 slot, instead of just becoming one by transferring.
I’m glad to see someone have the motivation to do something to help his own server. Keep on working, we’ll support you, in our hearts. Meanwhile, we’ll be transferring to the dominating servers for poi in Borderlands.
Have been lagging hard ever since Lost Shores patch and have posted several videos in this thread, but I’m still getting these at least 5 times with above 20 random lags a day. A friend of mine doesn’t get lag, but he is getting the D/C message quite often too.
Theoretically every 400 levels of crafting get you character levels 10 times.
So yes, if you max out all crafting professions, you’ll get to 80 without fighting anything.
3 Major updates and dozens of patches later this issues is still not being fixed.
In fact, it has gotten worse. Is there even anyone working on this?
Southsun Cove! Such a great map. Also I like hanging out in straits of devastation, it’s so inspiring.
Second this, seeing botters teleporting all over the place is such a magnificent sight I could cry tears of joy.
This isnt becuase you are a ranger the rat was bugged a would only take condtion damage. That is why your pet could not melee it. If you had switched to a sword you would have the same problem.

As a former Monster Hunter and Phantasy Star player, I love what Anet has done to GW2. The messier the combat is, the higher the skill cap, the funner the game gets. Guess most people are too used to Western MMO’s and doing only one thing at a time, results in unable to do easy multitasking like checking your own health bar and heal when needed.
Higher the skill cap?
Arguably, the ceiling is set so low, I’m surprised more people don’t complain that their head hurts from bumping into it.
I was talking about the other two games on G level and VH level, but I guess you wouldn’t know.

This kind of post should be posted in the “guilds” sub-forum.

For those who are looking for actual help instead of a guild who wants new blood.
THis is where you should be looking.

Master can harvest any level
This is not true. The quality of the tool varies with your level when you acquire it or with the level of the mission where you acquire it.
Master level gathering tools from low level personal story usually have the quality of steel gathering tools.
Sanctum of Rall usually has a decent player size in PvE, I have heard that Tarnished Coast is a great PvE server as well as WvWvW.
Into the Mists had most of its idea from this, so I guess I’ll recommend this one too.

Suggestion: Try looking through this forum, you’ll find some useful builds. If you’re new to elementalist, try daphoenix’s “Master the D/D” build.
Female elementalist:
Fire:
- “Fire!”
- “Spark to flame!”
- “Observe the power of fire!”
Water
- “Water!”
- “Wave and current!”
- “The water’s rage!”
Air
- “Air!”
- “I summon the wind!”
- “Let the storm rage!” (or something similar)
Earth
- “Earth!”
- “I command stone and soil!”
- “Earth is my weapon!”

The weapon you received after getting out of tutorial/prologue is the first off-hand weapon you can equip. Go into Hero window by pressing H or open your bag by pressing I, drag the weapon onto your equipment slot or double click it to equip it. Hope this helps.
Edit: Also, thieves’ third weapon skill varies with different combination of weapons, don’t forget to unlock them all through killing mobs with different weapons.
The elementalist would be one of the better profession at AOE bombing, but if you’re not used to micro managing all the cool downs and attunement swapping, you’ll be dead most of the time.
Necromancer is another high tier profession when it comes to AOE, wells and marks can and will get rid of hordes of trash mobs fairly quick. It’s also the caster with the largest health pool, so you will have a really smooth time in PvE.
Thieves can do some form of AOE, but I wouldn’t call it fun and easy. Thieves’ AOE involves a lot of kiting, and it gets boring after a while, but thieves’ 1v1 ability is no doubt the best among all professions. If you like killing one mob at a time at an amazing rate, this is a great profession for you.
Definitely Tengu, preferably a new eastern themed profession.
There is one more thing to consider, Once you reach lvl 80. You’ll be unable to use any armor skin lvl79 and below to transmute to lvl 80 armor. At least I have not found a way. This is very confusing why we cannot skin from a lvl 1 piece onto a lvl 80 piece.
You’ll need “fine transmutation stones” to do any transmuting involving level 80 equipments. You can get a few when you first started the game(around 5 I think), and you can buy them off of gem store.
Duelist top(Lvl 72 to 78 exotic) and Vigil legging, both are medium armor.
Two friends of mine reached 80 recently so we decided to do some dungeoneering. They’re not really good at dodging and have trouble staying alive, and we just failed miserably in Sorrow’s Embrace to Kudu’s fire golem today. Since a dead DPS is no DPS, they’re looking for builds that have good survivability. Any help is appreciated.
The bank is shared for all characters on your account, you can put in as much gold as possible.
Luckily I have taken a picture of it just before Wintersday events. The cool thing is that the electric current on the sword will surround your body and there will be electricity zaps between you and the floor every two seconds or so.
I have heard leaving names on screenshot is against the rule, but I’ll leave this here so you can contact the owner.
This thread will probably help you a lot.

Sheathing weapons will interrupt any channeling skills, it’s a good way to stop some of the annoying skills that keep attacking even after your enemy is dead or when you want to run away. For example, rangers’ rapid fire and elementalists’ arc lightning.
Elementalist is the squishiest combination possible, so when you’re not used to attunement swapping and constant moving in combat, you may feel like it’s weak at early levels; but once you reach level 25 or higher, and have the proper equipments (greens), you can take on 5 to 6 mobs at once with no problems, just like any other professions can do.
For more advises and suggestions please read over daphoenix’s D/D elementalist guide:

Believe me, elementalists are powerful if played well.
Mesmer is awesome. You’ll regret deleting it.
I deleted my mesmer, I’ve never feel regret for that. Instead, I created a character with different profession, exact same look, with same personal story-line. Now I’m enjoying playing the character more than whatever I had on the mesmer.
Each to their own, you can’t make people to like certain things when they don’t want to.
Likes : The “Spellsword” image, supporting others, offensive nature, dual wielding, pet(comrade) summoning, melee, emphasis on burst damage, isn’t reliant on stealth
Also as a side note, I don’t like the way an Elementalist with Daggers plays at all.
Ranger has a pet to fight alongside your character, melee, a few attacks are semi-magical with natural spirits, can be supportive or offensive, not so much duel-wield, great in PvE, not so much in PvP.
Mesmer is definitely an offensive magic damage class, can be supportive or with nice burst, has a little bit of stealth, clones and phantasms can be counted as summoned allies, not so much duel wielding, will have a hard time in early levels.
D/D Elementalist suits your needs the most, definitely can be seen as spellsword, melee offensive magic damage class with summoned allies and nice burst damage; but, alas, you don’t like it.

In personal story, Priory route:
Regardless of your race and what race you decided to help, Sieran will hint that she’s ready to fall in love, if you are.

Yes, just as you may have guessed, you can use the toymaker’s bag to transmute the engineer’s universal multitool pack. The toymaker’s bag itself is account bound, meaning it works just like any other white or blue items except for that you can’t give or sell it to other players.
You can transmute the engi’s pack the same way you transmute any other things. First store the toymaker’s pack and a trans stone into your bank, then create your new engi. After going through the story, run straight for bank. Take off your multitool pack and transmute it with the toymaker’s bag and end up with multitool pack’s appearance and toymaker’s bag’s stats. Now, go back to your Charr and equip the bag or transmute it onto a better back item and become soulbound to your Charr.
I’ve done the same for my Asuran elementalist. Idea from “Super Fun Happy Guy.”
Edit: this is the one and only chance for us to do this with a back item, act with wisdom.

No, delete the character and remake one. Remember to take off all your equipments and sell them, store your valuables in bank.
Freedom or not, I feel fine the way I am, Ventari’s guide lines exist for a reason. For those who had tasted the joy and praise the so called “freedom,” there is no need to force others into your thinking. Brainwashed? Tricked? I, child of the Pale Tree, child of Tyria, am proud to follow Ventari’s teachings. Sure, there’ll be times when I have to stray afar, but it will only be for the greater good of races, of Tyria.
P.s. OP’s post sounds like a severe case of “Eighth Grade Syndrome.” :P
@Oglaf: I think he was referring to SolarNova’s comment.
I’m sorry. I didn’t realize this was such a sensitive issue.
The idea of a battle-hardened Charr and a youthful, naive Sylvari as a couple just seemed sweet to me somehow. The idea of a naive Sylvari and battle-hardened anything doesn’t make sense to me as a romantic interest. I always come back to the conversation between the asura and sylvari guarding the gate in the Grove, where the sylvari keeps asking about the Golem’s mother. The sheer childishness of the race somehow barriers the idea of a feasible relationship with more roughened persons.
Maybe a protective person would find a weaker and naive someone worth protecting, somehow, and further develop a relationship with that someone. And the discussion between those two shows that Sylvari can effect how others think with their “naive” mind, at the end, the Asura did think the way how the Sylvari think, even just for a moment.
Sylvari – I like weed, ahem, I mean plants, and natural stuffs
Asura – Their voice and emotes are too fun to resist
Human – Because… human?
Did not play Norn – I don’t like this “personal glory/legend” thing that Norns promote so much about.
Did not play Charr- Don’t like furry, but still think they’re really cool, might make one soon.
Warrior, guardian, necromancer, and ranger.
Warriors have high health, high attack, tons of ways to stay alive.
Guardians can pump out tons of buffs and heals, having low health isn’t really a problem.
Necromancers are the tankiest casters, they also have death shroud and minions to further increase their survivability.
Rangers might not be as tanky, they have pets that can tank for them, then they can safely eliminate mobs at a distance.
Although there’re tons of mini-pets in the game, you rarely see any player calling them out other than holidays when new pets come out. The mini-pets’ disappearance is probably the biggest reason why no one bothers to use them.
1. Having a equipment slot for mini pets and set it so it doesn’t disappear whenever you switch map, die, or leave the game. This way players won’t have the trouble of calling them out over and over again, and you’ll see them a lot more often.
2. Purely cosmetic, increase mini-pets’ moving speed to match player without speed boost or swiftness, other wise they move too slow and they always fall behind and suddenly teleport next to you.
I like the bag actually, disregard the name, it suits my Asura really well(role-play wise); and it’s even better with toy golem mini. I’m really happy that I get to have these things for this Wintersday.
From right to left:
Mesmer: Masquerade coat and legging
Elementalist: Human cultural tier 3
Thief: Whisper’s coat, not sure about the shoulders
Rander: Norn cultural tier 2
Thief: Duelist (Level 72~80 exotic)
No idea what the Charr has
Guardian: Norn cultural tier 3
I think the extra 200 cogs are for those who completed some of the dungeons and got the frames they need but don’t want to go on for more. Also it’s set to 200 so those who did complete all dungeons won’t be making a third toy as they said all players have the opportunity to make maximum of 2 toy minis.
Here’s my take on the extra cog question.
Also the link to previous thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wintersday/Resolved/first#post1050757
1. Have at least 2 to 3 players, either ranged or melee, defend the yaks at the beginning of the first round while another 2, hammer for faster and wider attack, go around and gather materials.
2. Since the toys cannot jump, block their entrances with snow walls, preferably 3 walls at each entrance to completely block the small paths.
3. build catas behind the snow walls as their AOE still hits the toys even if it hits the walls.
4. Make sure most paths are blocked with snow, resupply your walls and catas when needed, pick up a candy cane and hammer away.
Edit:
Toxx: I find rifles to be great DPS tool against her, but that’s just me
Ventari and Dolls: Catas beside snow walls or rifle wielding players can effectively clear them out.

Kill shot is never good for 1v1 or small fights, anyone with decent skill can see it coming a mile away. It’s only good for larger fights as you doing the sniping pose is only telling your opponent to apply protection or get ready for a roll, and for his friends to swarm you because you can’t move during that sniping position. Also in PvE when traited piercing arrow, rapid fire is way more useful than a single sniped shot.
Try fear me/bullrush as a set up. Or if you have the trait that turns cripple to immoblize, or bolas, and frenzy, that works great too.
And you’re not sniping properly in WvW if people can jump you easily while rooted or knows you’re aiming at them. If you think those are problems, how will you ever use barrage in a zerg fight?
Guess you didn’t really read my post; also, we’re talking about ranger here, no fear skills or knock downs if we’re taking point blank shot away.
They’re surpassed themselves, there’s something even worse than these ridiculous dolls out there now. Toy golems. They stun you with every hit. So it’s stun, get hit till dead if you’re squishy, escape then stun again till dead if you’re not.
They are ridiculously overpowered for level 7 zones. Whoever decided this sort of thing was a good idea should be slapped with a wet kipper.
Managed to kill a box of these killer robots with the help of three wild moas, unfortunately they died to my AOE’s with the toy golems. Now I just avoid to open any gifts in general, unless someone opens them first, then I’ll go in, snatch the present, and run away as fast as I can.
A friend of mine got the tonic and I made a mini, we were too, curious of why the tonic does not have the twirling animation.

It was always there since launch (or was it BWE2?), but we would probably not going to see it in action before any expansions.
Most of the non-unique mini-pets are for sell on the trading post ranging from 15 silver to a few gold. You can also make at most 2 mini-pets from the Wintersday event. If you have not complete a few from before, wait until Tixx gets to LA and all the dungeons will be opened.
Doing hearts around or higher than your level always helps. A large portion of tasks have non-violent ways to complete, always ask the task giver before doing anything you haven’t done before. Personal story quests also give a lot of exp, usually between 1/4 to 1/3 of your exp bar. With about 3 to 4 hours a day, it’s fairly easy to get up to 80 in two to three weeks.
