I think one of the main problem I have with Eles, for example, is the fact that they have no sidekicks/guardians (Rangers have pets, mesmers have phantasms, engineers have turrets, necros have minions, etc.), as well as the fact that some skills from GW1 didn’t make it into GW2.
The main problem I have with mesmers is…uh…well, I don’t know, actually. o-o; But yeah.
Elementalists have 2 pet-summoning skills, one utility and one elite, pretty useful in PvE if you ask me. Ele’s also have a wide range of skills that should cover most of your needs.
If you don’t like a profession, don’t play it. There’s no reason to force yourself to like it.
I guess, but those have a much higher recharge rate. Also, I do like the Elementalist; I just find it far more difficult to play in GW2 than in GW1, but that’s just me.
I was referring to mesmer since you have no idea why you don’t love nor hate it. Also, elementalist is the squishiest combination possible with lowest health and cloth armor, if you play it like other MMO’s where you stand in front of mobs and take hits, you’ll find yourself dead most of the time. You need to take advantage of elementalist being one of the most agile profession, .

No love for necromancer? True that all three caster professions are different from what they used to be, they still provide tons of fun, more so for mesmers and elementalists, if you even care to enjoy them.
Why do they know so much? They couldn’t have collected so much knowledge in just 25 years. All this information seems to come from the Pale Tree, or The Dream, but how did that obtain all the knowledge?
…
This does not explain their knowledge and wisdom mentioned by the Lionguard though. It could be that different trees are connected to the same Dream (with an exception of Malyck’s tree, who could be “malfunctioning”) and share information. However, in that case the Sylvari of the Pale Tree should have knowledge of the other trees and the lands beyond the Maguuma Jungle (or wherever the other trees are. Maybe even on a totally different continent?)
Any thoughts on this matter?
All the Sylvari share the knowledge of the Pale Tree, which also works in reverse. The Pale Tree probably passed down her knowledge that she has experienced since she was planted and first has consciousness. She might have been staying still the whole time, but 250 years is still a lot of time for her to learn large quantity of things around her. I wouldn’t say that the Sylvari coming from the Pale Tree is ancient, but I think it’s possible that there’s one “World Tree” deep within the Maguuma Jungle, that is much older than all other races, while holding back the corruption of the sixth Elder Dragon, possibly “Mordremoth.”
There’s nothing fancy about gifting GW2 to your friends. You buy the game, get the code, and you just give it to your friend. On top of that, your friend needs to link the code to his/her account which he/she created.
Obviously Mr. Sparkles~
^This. Mr. Sparkles is the strongest.
Dulfy posted a staff gallery several weeks ago, be sure to take a look yourself.
http://dulfy.net/2012/11/13/gw2-staff-skin-gallery/
I love how diverse heavy and light armors are, it’s really easy to mix and match either skimpy or covered; but I would like to see more variety on medium armors(not-trench-coats) and more heavy non-tin-can-helms(PvP Knight, PvE Draconic).
The idea of Princess Wand probably came from Immobulus, although Immobulus is still slightly better, Princess Wand is no doubt an easy to get skin with legendary quality. Other than that ,slingshot is also a very cool skin, but the others are meh, especially the Popgun.
At making Orr grinding look fun.
I can’t believe how efficient it is to get giant gifts from mobs compare to doing jumping puzzle.
Longbow, with “Rapid Fire” AND “Quick Draw” actually have higher dps than short bow over 1k range.
I see you like it simple just like me. Unfortunatelly, I don’t think you can get a bigger bow. I was running with the Krytan one for the most of my time before I got Eir’s Longbow out of Mystic Forge. Plain and simple skins with no fireworks.
Krytan bows are also two of my favorites, had them since lvl 17 through 55. Used Seraph bow at one time(Light bow from personal story) but didn’t like it really much; a few levels later I found someone with the flame bow. Got the name from the guy and instantly went and bought one myself.
“Essentially, all of our kits would then be “underwater kits”.”
Underwater FLAMETHROWER kit ? ^^ Not all, so
I don’t see why not. (Looks at guardian
Some common pets are ursines(bears), canines, felines, birds, and devourers. Bears are tanky but don’t hold aggro really well. Canines are great for both melee and ranged; they can tank a little, and they do decent damage, on top of that, drakehound and wolf have great CC abilities to immobilize/fear your enemies. Felines and birds hit hard compare to others but die a lot faster, if you can hold the aggro of mobs, they could do some really good damage. Devourers are ranged while being a bit tanky, same goes for spiders. Moas are also something you could look into, red gives fury and blue gives protection, both are helpful.
Due to devs not visiting this sub-forum much, the red posts are ALL ON THE FIRST PAGE. Would it really take that much time off of you to read a few simple post? It won’t even take up the time you post and wait for someone to answer. If you really do want answer to your lazy question, here it is:
- JH don’t give free rally any more (supposedly)
- Signet of Locust getting speed buff at 12/14
- New DS UI is being worked on
- Nothing else
Now get on with your life and spend your time on things that matter, because there aren’t many changes.

I have not been reading the news / forums, so total disconnect.
How about start reading them?
So I have a great build, it’s better than all the builds combined, but I am not happy…
Melee isn’t my thing, Rangers are supposed to be “RANGED” and aren’t.
For the bazillionth time, that is not what the term “Ranger” means. At all.
Having said that, it’s frustrating that Longbows are so mediocre. It’s entirely due to a gimpy animation/recovery IMO making the #1 skill do less DPS than it’s supposed to.
i agree ranger dose not mean range. but with that said here are the two different descriptions of the ranger.
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. With their deadly ranged skills and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself.Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
so by anets description it sound like rangers are primarily ranged but can swap to melle to adapt to the situation. this just isn’t the case. rangers are pretty weak with bows.
“Rangers can adapt to any situation.”
Are some of you getting confused with warrior GS skills or am I forgetting a ranger skill? It sounds like people are thinking about bladetrail (which is stupidly OP but that’s another story) when they mention the “throw”.
Yes, you’re forgetting a ranger skill, what we’re talking about is “Crippling Throw.”
GS#3 is fine, it is a pretty long range gap closer and is way better than warrior’s GS 5, but#5 definitely need to improve i never hit someone with that thing if he is running away, #4 doesn’t root you anymore unless u blocked someone.
It’s the throwing part that roots you. It’s not a reliable slow if your opponent decides to run.
Fern hound/ brown bear in PvE & dungeon for quick regen and condition removal.
Lakittenail devourer/ wolf/ Krytan drakehound in WvWvW and PvP for their CC abilities.
Jelly fish/ armor fish/ salamander drake/ underwater because why not.
I’ve got names for each of them, and it’s really annoying to rename them every time I change pets.
Some suggested that Karka (also Largos, Hyleks, Kraits, and some Quaggans) were driven out not by Zhaitan or other known ED’s, but Bubbles the DSD. And we haven’t seen any signs of Bubbles’ corruption on creature yet.
Yes, you get exp from killing/help killing invaders and defenders, taking over camps or keeps. Theoretically speaking, you could do WvWvW straight from lvl 1 to 80, but most people start after 30 or so once they have a full skill bar and some decent armors.
You’ll have a hard time in WvWvW with a low level character unless you fully know what you should be doing and following zergs led by smart commanders.
Dumb name
Dumb idea
No.

Do you just want a button that get rid of your pets instantly?
Any action that get rid of pets from rangers’ dps is going against A-net’s ideal ranger.
They want the pet to be available to you all the time and contribute at least 50% of your total damage. Sure, they suck and don’t do as promised right now. So what? Buff them if they need to. Deal more damage, have more survivability , act more responsive upon commands, or whatever. Why don’t people understand that pets are a essential role within rangers’ skill kit?
Here’s my gal, dressed for warfare ^^ She’s a skirmishing trap ranger and beastmaster who’s fond of her pet raven, jaguar and polar bear. She likes to get her hands dirty with a great sword generally, though uses an axe and warhorn as a backup….sometimes she even uses a bow.
What a set is that?
Standard Duelist Armor. (with other boots / shoulders i think….)
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/named/medium/display_looks.php
Yeah it’s the duelist set from lvl 62 to lvl 78, with prowler shoulders, prowler gloves, superior studded pants, and swindler boots.
Thanks to to other people’s posts, I’ve found that vigil shoulders suit my bow ranger really well. They give my ranger a “Monster Hunter”(the game) feel.
I’m in a guild of 6 which was created by me and only consist of me, my brother, and our friends. We share everything we get from gold to drops. Sure, we don’t earn as much influence points as other guilds, but we still managed to get our guild icon and a guild bank. If a member needs help crafting a rare, we all send our materials to him, if a member needs help clearing a dungeon, we gather available people and help him. OP should do the same and create a small guild and slowly build it up with nice people you meet during your journey or friends irl. There’s no need to be in a big guild to have fun, and there’s definitely no reason to be in a guild just because it’s a famous guild.
I would like the opposite, stronger pets, slightly weaker rangers.
Ranger themselves already do little damage compare to other professions.
The problem of rangers’ overall damage is that pets do not do enough damage to achieve the 50% as they claimed to be. If pets were to be a lot more survivable and do more damage while able to attack on the move. It’ll solve a lot of our problems, which combines with bows’ projectile speed increase, ranger will be back to good standing.
As a pet lover I re-rolled a necro, minions are fun but not as reliable, so after she’s 80 I came back to my ranger main. After only a few times in FotM while not even completing any level (kill easy mobs, suicide, quit level, rinse and repeat) I was able to get him a quiver(love it btw) and now I’m aiming to get 100% map completion with him before the end of the world.
Hint: It is (or rather, can be interpreted as – it’s never really clear in the ancient folklore and texts apparently) a copper-gold alloy.
In GW2 it is clearly not the case as it’s a natural mineral out of itself, so I talked about it as is.
Gold is a really good conductor, and it could be made into copper-gold alloy for dark colors according to wikipedia. Other than that, mithril and orichalcum could be great conductors for energy for all we know.
After 15 points into BM, I almost have 100% pet up time. Having played ranger as my first 80 and necro as my second, as bad as pets’ Ai can be, it just feels… wrong when I’m playing other professions, by myself, alone, without a pet.
I’m currently having a hard time in Orr maps in general, so I thought to bring a little extra help with varieties of consumables. The first thing came to mind was spy-kit, and then pets summoned by items like the Fire Elemental Powder from Fireheart Rise. Anyone knows if there’re more consumables like that?
Bump, necro forum just got a conformation on gluttony fix a few days ago too, not sure why there isn’t any dev post other than “thread of promise.”
The Crossing is a pretty awesome staff that just screams necro all over it. If its light were to fluctuate and to be a lot brighter at night than day, then it’ll be one ideal necro legendary.
Ranger would like to have a word with you.

In the personal story “The Blossom of Youth,” Whisper agent Cai will need to disguise you into a human while you gather info from bandits. You’ll see some pretty interesting insults there.
Here’s a vid of the story quest.

I’m just gonna leave this here.

All characters of the same profession have the same stats at the same level regardless of race or gender; however, if you want racial skills that would help your necro in PvE and WvWvW, I would suggest Sylvari that has grasping vines that would keep one of your enemies inside your wells, but overall all the racial skills are fairly bad compare to profession skills.
Awesome! We get none! Just like one other profession a “certain dev” love the most!
There’s a reporting system in game, you realize that right? A vid, a pic, or anything else is not needed. It will get removed from here if you do put it up. Good spot but use whats in game. They don’t check these forums for reports.
There’re too much people in the group I can’t click on each individual accurately, but I did report the most I can. Also I have made the video somewhat blurry so it did not show any names.
There’re a bunch of people botting at Sloven Pitch in Fireheart Rise at Sanctum of Rall server. They’re currently abusing the bugged DE “Defeat the High Flame Shaman”, and has been going on for over a hour now.

How about…
Killing Zojja, invent steam creature army, obliterate dragons, take over the world, all by myself?
In the personal story “The Blossom of Youth,” Whisper agent Cai will need to disguise you into a human. And you’ll say that you feel “mushy and unwieldy,” so I’m assuming Sylvari skin is a lot harder than human skin.
“Dead Bow” is a long bow from GW1, the weapon with almost the same model in GW2 is “Final Curse.” I hope that helps.
Found this on GW2guru, works on everything I think, my bro just transmuted a Priory chestplate for his OoW character yesterday.
1.) Make a new necro with mask.
2.) Have another character buy a cheap helm. NOTED: This mask needs to be white or blue name AND of the same type, as in light, medium, or heavy. (This is important)
3.) Put said helm in bank.
4.) Log onto the new necro with mask.
5.) Now you can transmute the mask onto helm.
6.) Put the new transmuted mask into bank
7.) Go into your current necro and then take out the transmuted mask.
8.) Now you can transmute the mask with any helm
Here’s another short 10-second vid of the issue
