Funny thing is, while the existance of a higher power can’t be disproven, the existance of the christian god can. Many things this god supposedly has done like: create everything in 7 days, put the earth at the center of the universe, start the human race with just one man and one woman and many other things are all proven false.
So even if their god exists, it would not be the god their religion describes.
None of this has been proven false. There are only opposing theories. And the Bible does not state that the earth was placed in the center of the universe. The universe is endless, it has no center.
Science has yet to disprove anything the Bible says. And, a quick FYI, One of Gods days = a millennia on earth. And there is an abundance of archaeological evidence that supports biblical history.
“Biblical history” and earth’s entire history being in line with the Bible don’t have to be the same thing. For example, many accept that there was a historical Jesus, though I personally don’t think he was an actual son of a god.
There have been estimates (estimates because some things in the Bible are heavily stylised to help the impact of the story being told and thus are hard to pinpoint) that created a timeline for events described in the Bible and tried to match them to what we know about human history in the last ~10,000 years, and a lot of things don’t add up, like the historical counterparts of the people who supposedly wrote the new testament not being alive when the historical counterpart of Jesus was alive.
Interpretations and how much of the Bible’s (or any other religious book’s) content one takes at face value largely depends on the individual. I’ve talked to people who take things very literally and to people who regard the stories in their respective scriptures as abstract metaphors, to be adapted to the situation one finds themselves in. Since it’s near impossible to prove or disprove the amount of fact in what even at its creation was in part a work of fiction (in that parts had to be made up for lack of eye-witnesses), this debate will likely never end. Unless one day some deity has enough of it and smites us all, at which point any further argument will be moot anyway.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I understand Atheism less then I understand God/Allah. Seems to be a group of people set on letting everyone else know they are wrong.
Atheism is just the lack of a belief, you are thinking of anti-theism.
If Atheism is the lack of belief how can you get anybody to believe in it?
You don’t believe in atheism. You believe that the explanations for the universe’s phenomena don’t require the existence of a magic ghost that breaks the laws of physics and morality on a whim.
And as far as these logical tricks that you’re trying to play, good luck. The burden of proof is on religion to prove that it’s true, not on me or anyone else to prove that it’s false.
If you do believe that it’s false, however, you are going beyond atheism.
Atheism literally means “without (a) god”, so claiming that a belief system that relies on the existence of one is false doesn’t got beyond atheism, strictly speaking.
What you’re thinking of is probably agnosticism – it basically says that there might or might not be a god (among other things, but the whole god thing is the case at hand), but it’s impossible to prove it either way. Many agnostics do not explicitly believe in a deity of any kind because of this and are thus also atheists, but one doesn’t go hand in hand with the other.
Edit: I see you quoted me in the meantime. My answer is still the same, though one could add that atheism is mostly an individual thing, which only evolves into anti-theism when applied to others. Again, one does not automatically come with the other.

If you want to team up for story quests, try the LFG tool, it’s cross-server, so maybe someone will see it who isn’t on the same map as you are.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I do not believe in this Atheism.
You’re quite free not to
Though it makes me wonder how one can believe or “not believe” in a concept that states there is nothing to believe in in the first place.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Are you serious about this? As in, are you asking for people not to discuss stuff in mapchat because you are offended by opinions?
Nowhere in the code of conduct does it say you aren’t allowed to discuss these things. It says:
“This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.”
That’s different. If someone harrasses you ingame because for some reason you stated in mapchat that you’re an atheist, you can report and block them. But asking for them to be punished for talking openly about their religion (“as if it were real”… what, are they supposed to pretend it’s not real to them for your comfort?) – really? That’s just as immature as insulting people for being atheists.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Why? What does buying an expansion have to do with picking the wrong server (possibly years ago)? And if they do that, what about the people who don’t want to transfer? Can I use the gems for something else? Do I get gold instead? Do I get screwed over by essentially paying for something I don’t want or need?
If you don’t want to transfer for cash, use gold or delete your characters and then pick a new server for free.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Well, that “nerd stuff” (seriously?) will get OP more power for their money, so if they are willing to learn how to assemble a PC, I say go for it.
And since the PC is supposed to run GW2, specifically, the graphics card is not as important as the CPU, anyway. Many pre-built gaming PCs focus on the graphics card, though, and build around it, and in this case, that’s not the best reference point.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Hey all, thanks for the input. It looks like it might be harder than i thought simply because I’m in Germany for now, wont be back stateside for a little while so it will be hard/expensive ordering the parts from online shops. I will try to fin an electronic store here somewhere and see what they have to ofeer
If you want to order from a German shop, I recommend Mindfactory. CS is good, they have a forum for questions, too, and if you order between midnight and 6am, you don’t pay for shipping when you order for 100€ or more. Watch out for deals on specific expensive parts you want; a little bit of patience saved me 50€ on the CPU alone.
Piece of advice: Try and avoid local stores, unless you want to ask if they build your PC for a fee, too (though I think Mindfactory offers that service as well). Stores like Media Markt or smaller electronics stores usually have a few parts, but nothing special, and are hilariously overpriced nine times out of ten. They’ll have to order most parts anyway and slap on a good chunk of money for the “effort”. Only (kinda) worth it if you really think you can’t handle assembling the PC yourself, or with a little help from forums and Youtube’s “How to” section. And it’s really not rocket science. Somebody said PCs were foolproof, and they are. It’s pretty much impossible to stick something where it doesn’t belong, and if you somehow manage to do it anyway, the thing simply won’t turn on until you fixed it. A lot of MBs are colour coded, so even though it might look confusing at first, it really isn’t.

I can read guild chat fine most of the time, and type to it, but new messages to guild chat don’t highlight the tab like other chats.
Same here. It works just fine, but the tab doesn’t flash anymore when there’s a new message. Deleting and recreating it doesn’t help, unchecking and checking the option again doesn’t do a thing, either.

Yeah, that’s not a problem CS can handle, or will. The rules on someone else’s TS server are theirs to make. I would assume the user (remove the name, btw, that’s considered “shaming” and not allowed) wanted your account name (not your email address, but the display name, which everyone can see anyway), for some reason, though why, I have no idea, since you already were confirmed as being an ally. A lot of WvW TS servers have similar systems in place, it’s pretty common.
What’s not common and what he should not do is threaten you and try to bully you into something. If it happens ingame, you can report him, but unfortunately, if it happens on TS, it’s not a matter for CS.

No news, nothing in the shop… I’d say nope, no preorders yet.
Your partner’s friend might want to check exactly where they “preordered”, and withdraw their rights to charge her credit card for anything… Not saying it’s a scam, it might be a preorder that will become an actual one when HoT’s release date and price are officially announced, but better err on the side of caution.

(Edit: This post was meant as an answer to Gern’s.)
One could argue that the fahrar system is inspired by organisations like the Hitler youth, though. Loyalty to the country above loyalty to your family, sound familiar?
Likewise, the Iron Legion theme of being refugees you made – you do know that there have been many refugees during WW2 from territories that were German then, but aren’t now? Not to mention the countless times peoples who can be seen as ancestors of what today makes up the German people have been chased away from their homes by force or circumstance.
There are many aspects of German history that can be found, in a way, in GW2. A thing of fiction doesn’t have to be 1:1 copied from a real-life thing for a comparison to be made. And differences can be just as enlightening as similarities. I’d say OP has given this topic some thought already, if they decided to make it their thesis. They probably know what they are doing.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I think it’s more about the aftermath. The charr did hold a large chunk of Ascalon, though, and later lost some of it/didn’t get to conquering it because of the neccessary truce.
Now they are allied with their former mortal enemies and have to keep the peace, despite the continued efforts of splinter groups to sabotage it. People keep blaming them for things, despite the war being long over, and vice versa; history is not easily forgotten, even though younger generations have no personal stake in it anymore.
It’s a rather abstract comparison, but a valid one nonetheless. I’ve written my Bachelor’s thesis about video games, too, so I’m rather partial to these topics myself.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Why? Game studies are pretty interesting. You can do such comparisons for films and TV, why not for a video game? Most narratives have roots in the real world, after all.
Sadly, I’m not a charr player myself, but I hope you ge the info you need, OP.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
That’s for the new legendaries, with the option to do it for the old ones, too.
That doesn’t make my statement false? OP didn’t state whether or not they already have a precursor or not, they wanted to know whether or not it was worth it to keep working on the other parts of a legendary, and those will still be needed, as far as we know.
If it’s about getting a precursor, yeah, you’re right, but that wasn’t the question.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_metal
I assume you never made a legendary…?
Either way, the old legendaries won’t change, neither the ways to get a precursor nor the process of crafting them, it’s only the new ones that will be slightly different.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Well, you still have to play the game yourself. It’s not like looking at a site magically also walks your character to the nodes and makes them harvest them.
People have been using sites like that for ages, and it’s not against the rules, don’t worry. As long as you don’t use a program that automates actions in the game or something, you’re good.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Unequip – equip?
My shoes looked weird the other day, so that’s what I tried and it helped. Re-dying before that, however, didn’t do a thing. After putting the shoes back on, they looked completely normal again.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Are you sure you put the stones exactly on the plates? I had the same problem, and it turns out I hadn’t put one stone right on the plate. They need to lie pretty much dead centre for it to work.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
You can get decent agony resistance without crafting, though it’ll be a bit more expensive, and in case of weapons and armour dependent on RNG.
Rings drop from fractal runs after reaching level 10, you can get accessories and amulets from the laurel merchant/guild commendations trader; all of those have one slot for an offensive, a defensive or a versatile infusion (all of which provide +5 agony resistance, but only the latter is avalaible for fractal relics).
Weapons and armour need a 500 crafting profession, though with an infused backpiece and/or ring, you don’t really need those.
The links Behellagh posted will show you which amount of agony resistance is needed for which level of fractal. You can reach 30 AR without any weapons, armour or infused (but ascended tier) accessories, which will get you to level 39 with a group that’s willing to rezz you every now and again.
If you want to level up a crafting discipline or two for weapons and/or armour, http://gw2crafts.net/ is your friend.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
That’s been happening since forever. It’s entirely possible to spawn half a dozen immobile clones at the start of a guild rush if you die often enough.
Since it doesn’t impact gameplay, I doubt it’s very high up on the priority list.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
And the GW1 support is only available through here – Support -> Submit a request -> “Original Guild Wars”. There is an option to specifically ask about linking your accounts there.
Edit: Nevermind, I messed something up about the function of that website. The point about support still stands, though.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Are you looking at your forum profile? Because that email address does not have to be the same as your account email.
You can see the status of your account(s) under “My account”, or here: https://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome by entering any character name. If there’s nothing there and you still can’t change your email, I suggest contacting support, but be patient, GW1 requests can take up to a few weeks to receive a reply.
Edit: Ninja’d. By everyone.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Pick what you want most and what’s most useful to you? That’s generally sound advice…
Seriously, the only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the legendary stuff, because that’s easy as hell to get later on, if you ever decide to craft a legendary at all.
Laurels can get you T6 crafting materials (to craft or sell), ascended equipment and some other useful stuff.
If you don’t want or need any of that, the ascended materials chest can get you anything from 3 to 20 gold, considering current prices for the materials. It’s a gamble, though, since you are just as likely to get two leather squares (about 2g each) as you are to get two bolts of damask (~13g each). It doesn’t sound like you need those mats for crafting just yet, but if you already know you want ascended weapons/armour as soon as possible, you can put those in storage until you got the relevant crafting discipline to 500.
The tomes of knowledge are neat if you want to fastlevel to 80, but beyond that aren’t really that useful. Besides, you’ll get enough of them, even if you play strictly PvE.
It’s really up to you to decide which one of those you want/need most right now…
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Let’s say this happens and people do get confused…
If I played this game (and my classes) for enough time to get a legendary weapon, and if I am unable to see that legendary longbow #2 does, mechanically speaking, the exact same thing as normal longbow #2, it’s not the “confusing new skill description” that is the problem…
That said, I guess it would be a nice bit of flavour to add to special weapons, but it might not be that easy with some weapon types. Guns are easy – just make the legendary one a magical gun and go nuts with “arcane energy beams”. But a sword? A longbow? How does one make a sword do things other than “slash and stab the unfriendlies”? Does the longbow get a “Turn your enemy into a pincushion” #2 skill description?
…actually, I’d take that one, please…
Point is, it’d be a cool gimmick, but difficult to do without making it seem really weird and outlandish for most weapons, and I’d rather they put that time into making some more skins that are actually obtainable in-game instead of the gem shop.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
You need 16 +1 infusions to make one +5 infusion.
The 16 turn into eight +2 infusions, those turn into four +3 infusions, those into two +4 infusions and then finally two +4 infusions into one +5 one.
You’re probably looking at the “base materials needed” section. The hint you need is that the “16 +1 infusions” line is indented, informing you that those are the parts you need to craft the +5 one. The entire list works that way.
It’s the same for the 250 charged quartz crystals. You need ten of those, each of which is made up of 25 quartz crystals – 10 × 25 = 250.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
He looks weirdly Mursaat-like in that picture…
…actually, some kind of golden metal wings like that, Mursaat-style, would be really cool… gimme!
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
Response time is longer at the moment, and CS certainly doesn’t speed up the process because you want to get your daily.
There’s a reason you should only post in the sticky after at least a week; it’s no use nagging CS, they can’t work any faster than they already do.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
The carapace/luminescent skins aren’t the only ones with this line. It’s not even constantly visible, only when you zoom in closely, and at a certain angle. I highly doubt that “every 13 year old boy” is watching you…
And how is this tiny design flaw inappropriate, compared to the myriad of other questionable armour designs floating around in video games, GW2 included? oO God knows I’ve had my fair share of discussions about needlessly sexed-up armour designs, but this is one thing that’s more a visual bug than anything.
And if this really annoys you so much… https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Issues-with-character-art-weapons-or-armor-2/first

I’m slightly concern about the collection of skins part for precursors.
Are they including some of the insanely high price skin like Volcanus, Jaggument, Foefire series and so on?Why would they, they aren’t precursors.
Also, I assume Jaggument is supposed to mean Juggernaut? That is a legendary, so it will be obtainable this way?
Or did I misunderstand your question?Sorry, I meant the Ele thunder hammer skin.
But from what I see, it says you have to do some unlocking of other skins for precursor no? I hope it doesn’t mean ALL skins other than precursors/ legendaries/ and bl weapons.
The way I read the article was that you unlock new skins with the collection. The further you progress, the more the skins will look like the legendary, sort of like a visual progression from the first unlock to the final product.
So you don’t need to buy skins to finish the collection, but rather get new skins for each completed step of it.

“To enrich the journey of getting a legendary, the new legendaries and their precursors ARE UNTRADEABLE.”
I would think they are not tradeable, not even the drops.
Knowing my luck, I’ll start collecting a precursor, and the minute I finish it, I’ll get my only precursor drop ever – the one I just finished XD

does that mean that you can only choose one precursor and that’s it?.. meaning only one legendary from the new ones?
I don’t think so.
From the reddit translation linked by OP:
“This weapon [the precursor you receive at the end of the scavenger hunt] can be traded, and its appearance will be similar to the legendary weapon. Unlocking this weapon will unlock the skin for the precursor and the previous weapons in your wardrobe. If you’re lucky and acquired a precursor without crafting, then you won’t lose the skins you unlock from the first 2 steps in the precursor crafting process.
Of course this method of acquiring a precursor can only be used once per account per precursor. If you want more than one precursor of the legendary, you’ll have to use the original way of relying on luck.
To enrich the journey of getting a legendary, the new legendaries and their precursors ARE UNTRADEABLE."
So, as I understand it, you can get ALL new precursors this way, but only once. If you want, say dual new-legendary daggers for whatever reason, you’ll need a lucky drop, since you can’t buy the new precursor on the trading post.
The old precursors, however, seem to be tradeable even if you get them through the collection.
Keep in mind that the person who translated the original article claims to know “limited Chinese”, so there may be some details unclear and/or wrong. Though it would seem that the general method was made pretty clear.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
OP, you said you used WTFast. The problem might be that a goldseller, hacker etc. was using it, too, and happened to get the same IP as you did at some point, making it so that it got associated with either behaviour against the ToS or compromised accounts. It’s happened before, and usually, any suspensions happening because of it have been resolved.
You should get help with this soon enough, it’s just that CS has a lot of tickets to review at the moment. If it takes longer than a week, you can post your ticket number in the sticky.

How anyone would think “let’s make it so that anyone who doesn’t buy HoT can only play on EB – that’ll make people super-happy and make them ALL buy HoT!” is beyond me. That would be terrible marketing.
If the new borderlands are cool and fun to play, it might serve as an incentive for players to buy HoT who didn’t previously mean to do it, or weren’t sure. That’d be a far better strategy – make people go “hey, this new map is pretty great, I wonder if the HoT content is just as good, maybe I should buy it…” rather than “what the hell, I have to wait an hour to play WvW all the time now? Bite me, I’m out of this game!”.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
I think I remember an interview where they said that PvP and WvW changes would apply to everyone, so as to not separate the player base. Can’t find it right now, but it would make sense since the borderlands map will replace the one we currently have, so would anybody without HoT really be excluded from an entire game mode? I don’t think so.
Kaerleikur @ Elonaspitze
That’s weird, you should get at least a little more out of those in a normal map.
But could you specify where you get what kind of framerate? Boss fights, zerg in WvW, open world with no special events going on? Because if your 20 FPS refer to a zerg fight or boss battle like Tequatl, that would be normal, it’s not your PC, it’s the game. If that’s what you get in the open world, that would indeed be rather low.
Did you play around with the settings? Turned reflections off and tried lowering the number of detailed character models (medium usually suffices)? Those are the usual culprits if it’s not the PC, and most of the time, you won’t even notice those settings at all. I got a +10 FPS by turning reflections off in a very crowded Lion’s Arch, so it’s worth a try.
And FYI, in GW2, those issues are not usually caused by the graphics card, but by the CPU, which is why I asked for those. Almost everything happens there, the GPU does very little in comparison, so your card is massively overpowered for this game.

It all depends what you need from your bufffood. The wiki is a good place to start. Look up what you want to make, and then follow the links to see where to get the ingredients.
Though crafting your own bufffood is usually more trouble than it’s worth. I get that the supply on the TP has to come from somewhere, but unless you’re planning on selling food and replenishing that supply for some small profit, I’d recommend just buying what you need from the TP.

Wonder how many Twitch users have the same PW for their GW2 log in…..?
I’m guessing some hackers are finding out right about now.
Someone should notify GW2 Support (and lots of other games’ support) that tons of compromised accounts are on the way.
Sounds like Twitch is doing the right thing (emails and forcing PW change) but the question remains how long have the hackers had the data?
It actually surprises me that this even has to be done in todays day in age.
I’m more shocked that from a security standpoint alone game companies do not enforce a password policy that mandates people to change their passwords every 3-4 months. What they change it too is up to them but recycling passwords wouldn’t be allowed if used within the same 8 month span.
I’ve seen systems like that in action. All 99% of the users do is use the same password and tack on a different number each time to get around the anti-recycling rules.
Systems that rely on people’s intelligence only work for, well, smart people, and if people were smart/would think before acting, they’d use different passwords and email addresses in the first place and we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Bonus points for Twitch being a service where you can log in with your Facebook account – just like thousands of other sites, which are now also possibly compromised for you if you use Facebook to log in and didn’t change your password there immediately. I dread the day people actually start paying for stuff with their Facebook account and something like this happens. Might as well put my credit card pin as my Facebook password then ._.
As for the password managers, trouble is, now all one has to do is get one password to get them all. Anything that’s digital can be read by someone with sufficient skill, and I know people who keep their master password in a .txt file on their desktop. You know, “for convenience” -.-
Fortunately, something written down on a piece of paper and hidden in your sock drawer will remain hidden no matter how hard a hacker tries. So, complicated passwords for everything, and if you forget, just go rummage through your undies until you find what you need^^
