A couple stats aren’t changing anything. It’s the lack of manpower you’re having… Which has nothing to do with a gear treadmill issue and everything to do with people wanting to play this new content.
The only people that get spawn camped are the idiots too stupid to walk out the other entrances. They’d simply do more damage than actual good even if they did get out there in the big bad world. You’re doing them a kindness.
At the same time, I’ve been seeing a lot less GOONs. I guess we just like having fun.
When the SFD vs GOON war of 2012 took off, both guilds nearly disappeared from everything involving WvW following the aftermath. The players themselves might still be around, but it’s seems like nobody has been running the tags for quite some time now. Mag seems more like a hodgepodge of guilds nowadays.
This is purely anecdotal, but that’s how I’ve seen it lately.
Yo RedOwl. Mag controls their entire BL, DH controls their entire BL, EBG is evenly split 3 ways, and both Mag and DH are pushing up into the CD borderlands towards CD garrison. Where the hell are all these big blown up Mag/DH fights going on that nobody has seen but you. All I see is the odd group snagging supply camps for giggles, and maybe the odd tower ninja.
(edited by Rhyis.7058)
Has a single player from Mag even been inside DH borderlands? I imagine you’d be hard pressed to find 10 in there at any specific time past friday night. Sure as hell haven’t had anything organized going on over there.
CD borderlands though, we’ve been there.
DH has been to Mag borderlands. In fact they’re in there as we speak. I don’t mind too much though, even if they were trying to take west keep from us. DH is always fun to fight.
Anyway, the score is only 7k points from CD to Mag and 7k from Mag to DH at this moment. Hardly anything to get excited about. Can be made up in a few good hours.

Darkuuma Desert. It kinda works.
Benny Hill theme on infinite loop.
Terrible mistake. This game is slowly taking out any coordination in WvW at all. Next it’ll be portals. After that, what else is there to do but aimlessly run around in a giant zerg?
(edited by Rhyis.7058)
Mag always does bad on Friday because of the queues. Random people that never WvW are in there taking up spots for quaggan botting and such. I more often than not skip Friday night and focus on every other day since we only have queues on Friday.
I was on for this match ups Friday night though.
Sorry I’m forced to disagree with only 2 servers in a match-up. Games like Warhammer Online highlight extremely well why the 3-way model works best. 2-Way usually means one side is dominant and the other just gives up. In a 3-way, there is always an uncertainty/random factor.
I think ArenaNet have chosen very wisely in this respect.
Yep. This guy gets it.
I agree with Roo. If two sides fall behind, they can work together to play catch up. Warhammer and DAOC both were great because it was 3 and not 2.
WAR had 2 factions, not 3.
To the people saying just stacking up will get the thief to come close enough to aoe, be aware there are various chickens/rats/cats/etc at pretty much every single supply camp in this game. Thieves can infinitely keep a control point locked up if they so desire. This should not be.
Capping/preventing capture while stealthed is the only issue with thief, and it should definitely be fixed.
Your guild gets influence for every event that takes place in your tower/keep. And by this I mean every player that kills an enemy player or repairs a gate/wall, and receives a gold medal for defending the tower/keep, will give your guild 2 influence. And it’s easier to defend a tower the more upgraded it is.
I know this because I’m the only player in the guild I claim towers with, and sometimes when I’m asleep my influence will have shot up a bunch of extra points and it’ll show a list of events during a time I wasn’t online.

Orbs being removed was a good thing. At least how they had it set up anyway.
Oh, well then forgot half of that. Can still portal in though.
Just an fyi, if you’re getting murdered through one SM lord room entrance, you could always attempt the other entrance. Or attack through both simultaneously. Or slowly portal forward over and over.
Always look at the loss as an opportunity to improve, otherwise you’re never going to improve. There’s always a tactic that can work for any given situation, you just need to execute it.
Maguuma, a server full of pugs. An underdogs tale.
Mag calls for help across all 4 borderlands when numbers are an issue, because it’s easy to do when you’re all sitting in a single voice chat. Makes a very large difference. Hopping from BL to BL to defend a key location is what it’s all about.
If we end up putting up a good fight in tier 4, we might end up being just the punching bag for low end tier 3’s that drop down.
Mag has been the gatekeeper for the higher tiered servers since forever. Nothing new. It’s actually a good place to be because you’re always fighting new servers. Also our pop isn’t so high that you can’t get on whenever you feel like playing, but it’s not so low that you can’t do anything.
Maguuma should be very scared after this match. What it showed was that your pugs are just as susceptible, if not even more susceptible, to being de-motivized and quitting than Ehmry Bays.
Mag has the best morale of any server imo. We have had absolutely brutal beatings, but people still show up anyway. Reason: we aren’t a server that wins often. Like I’ve said before, we have only won a single match up in the span of this games life time. We’re used to not winning. It’s what we do. We are the official 2nd place server.
Unlike EBay, Mag will create it’s own fun. Hold one keep, and only 1 keep, for 48 hours defending it at all costs. Spend upwards of 30+ gold on siege for a supply camp. Simultaneously attempt to ninja cap every tower and keep in a borderlands. And other various activities to keep us entertained.
Mag is the honey badger server.

I can post the score if it makes everybody happier. Not that it really matters anymore I think. Hopefully some more good fights break out till the end at least. I’d actually like to see Mag lose every single waypoint we got atm just for some giggles in the remaining days.
While we do have a ton of thieves on Ehmry we also have like no elementalists.
Seriously, we can’t kill people on wall at all
Yeah, ele’s are pretty much kings of taking out siege on the battlements. Definitely one of the more important class out there. I was thinking of leveling one up myself lately.

Chain of events here.
1. I congratulate Maguuma on their coordination and tactics, stating that they overcome our superior individual player skills. This is teamwork skill vs player skill. WvW is largely won based on Teamwork, hence one of the large reasons you are winning. At that point it’s a statement slightly detrimental to Ebay.
2. You state that it has nothing to do with individual skill, thus attempting to invalidate the only positive thing about Ebay in that comment.
3. You furthermore state that Ebay has alot more glass cannon and 1 v 1 builds, which are the worst builds for WvW in general. Adding a sidewise insult.
4. You then state that Maguuma has alot more supportive and teamplay builds, further strengthening your own compliment.
With these things together you not only invalidate the only positive statement said about Ebay but indeed call them poor WvW players in general. Albeit in a slantwise manner. Perhaps you didn’t intend to do so, but that’s what happened.
Actual chain of events:
1. You state EBay players have more individual skill level, as shown here:
The individual player skill of our good guilds might be higher.
2. I give an alternate reason why individual skill level may not be the factoring reason for this perception. That alternate reasoning being that EBay players may be speccing for solo play while Maguuma may be speccing for supportive play, as shown here: (take note how I don’t even get insulted by the above quote, only give an alternate theory to your own deduction)
Most EBay players seem to spec based around 1v1 and small scale fights.
Mag players are walking around in 100% supportive specs that really don’t offer a whole lot on the small scale side, but can turn the tide in a major way with a larger group.
I think what you’re describing is actually the perfect way to show the different and opposing mentalities of our servers.
3. You start some diatribe about how I’m insulting you and your players.
4. I place my face within the palm of my hand.
(edited by Rhyis.7058)
You lost out on 2 mins of wvw. Get over it.
He meant exploit in the good way.
Speaking of skill I want to congratulate Maguuma. The individual player skill of our good guilds might be higher, but you guys have better organization and tactics overall.
I just wanted to comment this quickly. I think what you’re trying to say is that EBay seems to win the small scale fights more often, while Mag wins the larger scale fights more often. And I believe there’s another reason that could be happening and it has nothing to do with individual skill at all. Most EBay players seem to spec pure glass cannon and various specs based around 1v1 and small scale fights. EBay has a lot of thieves and warriors that seem to pretty much only walk around looking for the gank. More then any other server I’ve ever fought. Which is strong on the small scale, but doesn’t offer much on the large scale.
On the flip side, a lot of Mag players are walking around in 100% supportive specs that really don’t offer a whole lot on the small scale side, but can turn the tide in a major way with a larger group. My guardian, for instance, is a pure walking bubble/heal bot (and this spec is very popular on Mag). He offers no damage whatsoever, but to a large group he can sustain a large chunk of healing. This kind of spec isn’t ideal on the small scale, as the number of people you’re able to heal is much lower than what you’re capable of putting out. He’ll also never win a 1v1 fight, haha. This doesn’t make the people able to 1v1 my guardian down better than me, their spec is just more suited to the task.
I think what you’re describing is actually the perfect way to show the different and opposing mentalities of our servers.
Way to go, you took a post complimenting 2 separate servers on their individual strengths and turned it into totally kittening all over one and painting the other out as far superior. Even better you disregarded logic by using red herring to do so.
Real classy.
There was literally nothing negative towards any server within my post at all. I recommend actually reading it.
Yeah I dunno how many are running around as bubble bots, but everywhere you go there’s a dozen guardians with a staff throwing down swiftness. Could be everybody is leveling them up now as an alt.
Yeah well, TAC is part of your part of your server. It’s not a perception when they’re right there to be counted lol. I’d be surprised if Mag could field a couple parties of thieves together on a borderlands even if we wanted to. Mag has an absurd amount of guardians. Everybody has an 80 guardian, I swear.
EBay has a lot of thieves and warriors that seem to pretty much only walk around looking for the gank. More then any other server I’ve ever fought. Which is strong on the small scale, but doesn’t offer much on the large scale.
This is largely subjective since 90% of all thieves and warriors spec glass cannon. Just about every thief and warrior from Maguuma I’ve fought builds this way looking for ganks, and I’m confident I can say the same about every single server. The vast majority of players don’t have guilds and groups to run with, so they rely on 1v1 builds for self-satisfaction. You’ll have people that rely on culling as well such as mesmers and thieves and build just to abuse it on every server – it’s unavoidable since it gives them such a clear advantage. Once they lower burst damage and remove the control cap invisibility mechanic, these specs will evaporate.
I didn’t just mean glass cannon. Basically EBay has more thieves than any other server I’ve ever fought. And I’ve pretty much wvwed everyday on Mag since the 3 day head-start. Even if they nerf thief into the ground, the next most powerful 1v1 spec will be walking around and that will probably be what a lot of EBay players will choose to play. You guys just seem to focus more that way than other servers. Like I said, different mentalities.

Yeah, the gear grind is coming. I am extremely pissed off about this. Everything else I could look passed and wait out for fixes….this has me considering just quitting now.
You’re actually worried about +5 stats? Like, this legit makes you believe you are no longer competitive in WvW unless you upgrade immediately? I feel bad for the WvW community if this is a common opinion.
All glory to the grub.
People won’t be happy with this game until the only coordination one needs is the ability to synchronize banging your face against a door.
Standard Mag team chat.
I haven’t walked into your borderlands out of pity tbh.
I gotta know how many golems were there lol. Looked like 10.
Its another to transfer to the enemy of a server that just got done stomping you.
Mag has that effect on people. Fight Club/Ramelot/The Alamo/Pangloss Adventures are too powerful a draw for people to turn down.
It’d be pretty hilarious if Ebay was the only server we ever beat in say a year.
Anyone that comes to Mag to win is in for disappointment anyway. We’ve only won once out of however many match ups there’s been. Mag’s about the murder.
The graph starts at 8pm for me as well, which is 1 hour off EST. Atlantic time or something? Regardless, certainly isn’t CET. Nothing to indicate that at all. 11am or 12pm EST is when Ebay started losing their lead.
Oh detects time zones, makes sense. The site simply isn’t updated for DST.

In WAR the oil was overpowered. You’d kill hundreds of people all from a safe distance. Hard to balance I guess. As somebody else said, catapults basically do the job oil should be doing so it’s not a huge issue. Just kind of silly for it to exist at all at this point.
Yeah I can appreciate people that stick it out. I’m rooting for you guys to catch up too, just don’t stand in front of me lol
The current match up graph actually shows exactly what I’ve been talking about.
http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/38
This shows that EBay kept their lead from Friday night to Saturday morning until 11am and Mag didn’t hit the potential point lead until 12pm Saturday afternoon. Then we’ve maintained the potential point lead since that time, like I said.
Completely irrefutable evidence.
But we don’t often complain about it. We just wake up and take everything back. Really, it’s better for karma/money/exp when you’ve got a whole borderlands that’s takeable anyway. You’ve also got nothing to lose so you can go purely on the offensive, which is always easier to get numbers for because it takes less effort.
The only memory I have of Mag complaining about night capping was against SoS. But it wasn’t a complaint about the loss of property or points, it was a complaint of never seeing the enemy. SoS literally didn’t play at all during normal NA times. Can’t have fun if you don’t have anybody to fight.
(edited by Rhyis.7058)
I’m telling a poster to give up this masquerade that Mag is some big night capping server. His last 3 posts have been the same.
I want EB to fight harder.
Oceanic guilds FTW. Back to spvp.
Maguuma has maintained at least +375 potential points for 48 hours now. Give it up man.
(edited by Rhyis.7058)
You gotta like ET’s moxy.
Ehmry Bay is evening capping us.
I wish they were. At least then the night capping claims would make some sense.
You really won’t find a server with a smaller nighttime presence than Maguuma.
Someone doesn’t understand nightcapping and snowballing. I’ll try to help you. We wake up on Saturday to find the entire map (that we left blue) fully green. There are dozens of arrow carts and Ballistas pointed at our respawn. All keeps and towers are upgraded and loaded with supply from hours of uncontested capping.
Our guilds are still fighting. However, our casuals went back to dungeoning or playing other games after witnessing the lamest mechanic ever (respawn camping for hours…)I don’t think you understand how much of an advantage the off-peak playerbase thing is…but no matter…back to the borderlands.
Considering Mag has only won a single match up ever (ironically it was against EB), I have every idea what is needed to retake a borderland back. We do it every day against everybody else. You’ve got to fight for your right to party. Mag doesn’t even have queues, so it’s not like you’re fighting huge numbers.
Dude, whatever you have to tell yourself. You were dominated at reset and took over the whole map when we went to sleep.
You guys should probably wake up now. You’ve been asleep for 36 hours.
If you drowned you weren’t a witch after all.
