The trouble with the event is its just being used for farming. Hey, breakout is up on the other BL, let’s go do it. Then everyone leaves, the winning team takes back the tower, then the cycle repeats.
It doesn’t seem to be really helping the losing team push into the map. Because once the tower is taken and NPCs disappear the odds are similarly long against them. If the objective is just to let a losing side capture something fairly consistently to make them feel good, or do a very small artificial tightening of a score, I guess it does that, but its pretty lackluster overall.
This is the whole point. Its to prevent a side from being completely spawn camped.
Even if they map hop for a tower, its at least something, its better then not being able to leave the spawn (even though you can capture the supply camps… just to be zerged later on).
I’m pretty sure no server is being spawn camped on all 4 borderlands… Especially their own borderland. All this does is take people away from that borderland, and probably eternal. It’s not magically giving you new wvw players. It’s siphoning players who could actually be doing something productive. So when your total wvw population is small and you need people to defend something, those people are nowhere to be seen. They’re off taking 2 towers they have no intention of defending.
It’s ironic, but this actually hurts the servers with smaller populations. Who it does help are the servers that don’t have good organization. The ones that don’t have public VoIP servers and the like.
So what I’ve experienced from this breakout event is that people do the event, take control of the tower, jump to another borderland and do the same thing, go to your own home borderland and take the towers the other servers did the breakout event at, do it all again. Never intending to defend. Never intending to push further. And it becomes this merry-go-round circle jerk of all 3 servers doing the same thing.
When your total WvW population is low, there’s nothing an NPC can do to change that.
And forget about trying to defend against this event, hot damn. It’s not even worth the effort. Your resources are better spent just leaving the towers there and taking something else you can actually defend.
So all-in-all my opinion is this event promotes even more PvD and takes away from the PvP.
The problem is that if servers are so evenly matched that they can’t pull ahead, then they’re stuck against one another. You could have all the best servers in a lower bracket, and they wouldn’t be able to escape it.
This is not a problem. This is the whole purpose of the score system. Put evenly matched servers against each other. That in turn should provide the best WvW experience.
Should Tier 8 have such fortunate situation why would anyone want to escape it?
This guy gets it. Even matches are exactly the purpose of a ladder system.
Maybe you should see t3 and fight TC and then you’ll see what outmanned really means.
Maguuma, and I think DB, were the first servers to fight the newly superpowererd TC. We’re not new to TC… Actually basically every T1-T3 server went through Maguuma first.
Green is simply designed better for defense in almost all areas in EBG. Naturally blue and red are going to go after the weakest targetable tower, which is always going to be something other than green.
Personally I feel the higher tier server should be red and the lower tier server should be green. IE, swap green and red so the weaker server has a better chance of keeping some points.
I imagine it would help immensely towards leveling out the end scores.
I imagine that this thread will get blasted as “you are in pvp” but camping a spot in the middle of a jump puzzle where the other player cant fight back is not pvp. It is griefing. There is no skill involved in pulling a player off a ledge and burning them down from a cliff.
I am going to call out the Ele and Thief duo from guild tag [mds] as the most notably griefers. Its sad.
Con: A single spy could give the location of the entire enemy team in the borderland with minimal effort.
Edit, oh you said enemies too. Well, that’s just dumb. You’d get this dumb meta game of, oh nobodies at west keep so lets hit there, and then the enemy would notice your movements so go to that location. And then you’d notice the enemy suddenly left east keep so go there instead… It’d just be this stupid merry-go-round of no fighting.
Shadowla is not a spy or anything like you mentioned he is infact a dueler. He loves to do 1v1s and has set up some great dueling spots over the past few weeks. The reasons he was on Mag and then Ebay was so he had the chance to duel different people because he doesn’t duel in sPvP. I would doubt he let you into death traps unless you followed him to the dueling area and you attacked him with more then 1 person then the rule is the rest of us jump in. It has happened many times when yaks bend try to crash the dueling spot and they end up getting jumped by all the duelers.
A dude with the intention of dueling doesn’t run around with a commander icon 24/7.
As a Maguuman, I’m pretty comfortable with how it’s done now. We pretty much chill out in tier-Maguuma week after week and every other match-up we get a new opponent or two. We essentially get the same end score every single week, regardless of who we fight, so where we are seems to make sense.
Not that I promote taking advantage of a glitched area. But there is absolutely no reason, at all, that you should feel entitled to be able to kill somebody directly outside their spawn. Just wait at the supply camp. Those dudes aren’t doing anything productive there.
The EB JP is pretty much 100 % designed for this behavior. It is a king of the hill area, with extra advantages being given to those further along in the puzzle, see: all the trap switches/levers.

Want to learn how to walk into green eternal borderlands keep without taking out a single gate or wall? Or the south west and north west towers of the home borderlands? Or the outer garrison water gate? ‘Cause you can pull off the same crap. It’s totally legit though bro, I swear.
Maybe you should investigate that a little further, as it’s 100% possible to have a hidden mes behind the inner door and be able to get safely out to port people in.
I know it is. It’s a known exploit. Anet attempted to fix it before but failed to do it properly. You’re bypassing game mechanics on a specific keep because of terrain, which is cheating. If you can’t figure this out, well, I dunno what to tell ya.

Thanks for confirming you just glitched into the keep. If you jump past a wall/gate, you are exploiting. That is the very definition of exploiting. You are bypassing game mechanics via cheating.
PM me proof and I will deal with it, also from our Mes that was in there, he’d had a fight with one of your guys, given that was the 2nd keep we’d taken in the space of 15 mins via mes portals… maybe you should sweep things propperly.
If you can’t provide proof and haven’t sent it off to anet, really bad form bring it up on the forums if you don’t know the full facts.

Couldn’t take east keep in Maguuma borderland legitimately so you had to glitch into it? Seriously? And if you are gonna do it, at least learn to defend properly.
Arrow carts placed in courtyards can legitimately target rams and such by aiming the at the gate and you’ll hit anything on the other side of it as well, just like catapults can. If that’s what the OP is talking about.

Also, can’t you simply take over your own golem by clicking F when it’s nearby like every other siege in this game? Never actually used a golem so I’m not sure if it has it’s own rules, but other siege the owner can take control whenever they feel like.
When was this?, I am curious as it looks how how BL looked about 20 mins after us, YB, had completely wiped Mag off the map on EB, and when the only thing we didn’t have, nor to my knowledge took in EB last night, was the overlook for Ehmry Bay.

Multiple people said it happened. I’m pretty sure nobody is blaming YB, so why are you getting defensive about this? People are dicks, this stuff happens from time to time.

EBay used to talk a whole lot but it seems like last week they didn’t really say a word on here. Guess that’s still going. They might just be tired of listening to us for almost 5 weeks though, which I can understand.
When you have more total members to draw from, even if a lower percentage of them join WvW you will more often than not still have the greater presence in WvW simply because of the higher total pop. It’s just basic stats.
This week is the first I’ve fought Mag’s in a while, but based on this weekend, they out number us. Out numbered in tier 4, yet able to punch into tier 3. All in a day’s work.
Yaks has had a full online population 24/7 since our match up started. Mag hasn’t had a full total online population since the first week after launch.
I like this match up with you Yakkies, but you’re literally insane if you think you got less or equal numbers with Mag or even EBay.
