DragonBall - and how boring it is.

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: RileyTheRad.8542

RileyTheRad.8542

When both teams are working together and playing to win, Dragonball is a blast. Once I find an instance like that, I keep playing as long as I can.

But when only one team is working together (or, even worse, when one team has AFKers), the game falls apart very quickly. Then it’s very easy to get frustrated.

When that happens to me, I play the game through, drop the instance and go looking for another. It may take a few tries, but usually I can find a good one pretty quickly.

Yeah, this. There are matchups with AFKers here and there, but I just pop in and out until I find a match that has both teams being active. When both are working their hardest for that win… SO much fun! xD One of my favorite mini games so far.

Reward for dragon ball is 2 low

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: RileyTheRad.8542

RileyTheRad.8542

I think they should up the reward for dragon ball to something like:
Winners Drop Table:
45% to get 1 Rich Dragon Coffer
35% to get 5 Dragon Coffers
7% to get 1 Jade weapon ticket
5% to get 1 Jorbreaker
5% to get 1 Mini Holographic Risen Knight
3% to get 1 Holographic Dragon Wings

Losing Drop Table:
75% to get 3 Dragon Coffers
15% to get 50 Zhaitaffy Taffy
5% to get 1 Rich Dragon Coffer
3% to get 75 Zhaitaffy Taffy
2% to get 1 Jade weapon ticket

Magic Find does not increase chances,

Of course the kicking idler function would have to be added first

With the drop percentages in place elsewhere, I honestly think this is quite a bit too extreme. I would like to see a regular Coffer as the loser reward, then something like 3 for the winning teams and possibly 5 for the top player.

Can we just stop, please?

RileyTheRad.8542

I agree completely, I love the fact that:

1) You can get the skins through regular coffers (my wife got a weapon skin on her 16th regular coffer) for a lesser chance

2) You can get these coffers from any ol’ mobs, not just the hologram ones! This means we can work toward getting our skins just as effectively just by playing the game normally and leveling our alts! Those without alts, you can run around Orr or Southsun and farm as normal with the added effect of getting coffers. Even if you don’t want to open them, you can sell them on the TP for around 5s : D

This I believe has been handled very well. ANet gave just enough ground to make this work well. I do think that the drop % of the tickets in the cash shop coffers could probably be increased a bit more, but that’s just my opinion.

My only complaint (and it’s not really even a complaint, just a slight irking) is that Dragonball seems pretty glitchy with rubber banding and random Out of Sights. Still super fun though!

Dragon Ball: I don't like wearing PvP armor

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: RileyTheRad.8542

RileyTheRad.8542

I’ll be honest… I really don’t see why it matters all that much.
I guess the feel that PVE’ers are being visually separated from the PVP’ers and made targets or something, but honestly I sPVP all the time with my Ranger and despite my rank (not that I’m a super duper high rank or anything, but I’m no Bunny rank) she’s still in the starter skins. I just think they look cool. -Shrug-
If that’s made me a target, ah well. I don’t really think the mini game lends itself to target calling, it seems more, “murder the nearest person and avoid groups // set traps in tunnels” kind of thing.

I don’t see it as being random at all… And the idea that whoever gets the first kill makes no sense to me at all and it completely false. I had several matches where my team pulled together when we were 200 points behind and manage to win.

It is zany, but it’s a controlled zany. I really enjoy it!

Although, I will be honest and say that I think I did enjoy the Halloween and Christmas mini games just a tad more. But I still need to get the hang of this one a little more xP

Yep, there’s one type mob ..a fat lizard type which is everywhere… that is hard to solo with an 80…and if you get an add…and as I said they are everywhere and they roam…best bet is to just run if you are alone.,

…and now with the queen there aere invincibles that can kill you in a couple hits.

This game is quickly becoming only for hardcore guilds that have been here from launch….don’t let your friends join this late

Those are the reef drakes. And man, does that tail swipe hit hard!
The thing that makes them so nasty is their Confusion that they stack on you though. If you watch and dodge their tail swipe (which has a telling “winding up” like animation) and use condition cleansing skills to get rid of the confusion when it gets higher than a couple stacks they’re not bad at all.

At the same side however, the drop rate could technically be 99% and still have the possibility of someone dropping 500 dollars on the RNG chests and still get not a single skin. I wonder to what degree the odd exceptions have been making the rumors.

What has happened to our community?

in Last Stand at Southsun

RileyTheRad.8542

I don’t imagine that arguing in here about whether or not we like the game will get anywhere, so I won’t bother.

In any case, I think it’s just up to expectations being met (or not).
Every time a new MMO comes out that looks decent, people flock to look through the windows in hopes that the game meets what they like to see in an MMO game. Thus the initial hopefulness.

The problem is, everyone seems to have pretty drastically different opinions on what makes a good MMO. When a new MMO comes out, different people will be satisfied to different degrees.

For me personally, I’ve stuck with GW2 because it meets just about every interest I could have in an MMO. High customization, particularly in the appearance department. Interesting races and professions, and (in my opinion) a relatively solid balance between professions. Sure, there are things that I don’t like and things I think they should do differently, but at every one of those angles someone could come along and disagree with me. Because they’re different people with different wants and expectations.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that after sticking with a game that doesn’t much meet their expectations for this long, people start to get frustrated and on the verge of leaving (or flat out leaving altogether). They misunderstand that just because there’s something they don’t like about the game, that means that there’s something wrong with the game.

My two cents.

I want to side with Canach!

in Last Stand at Southsun

RileyTheRad.8542

In fact exercising control over someone and “letting him live because it’s what you wished to do” is a common trait for what I’m describing, to feel the power of someone knowing he lives because you let him live many times is more satisfying for this kind of crazed minds than killing him. He could also use him in the future, knowing that he can give him all the information he wants if he threats him so killing him is wasting an asset.

And I really don’t buy that “he was just acting this time, he really isn’t that nasty when he’s not in that specific scene”. He abandoned the scene carrying the bloody bag with him with clear intentions on continuing with that beheaviour. That guy is completly nuts right now. I don’t know what happened to him since the last time we saw him, but it really hurted his mind. I’m not saying he’s evil, I’m saying he’s crazy in a very dangerous way, he is delusional, he thinks he’s some sort of hero of the people when everything he’s doing is looking for his personal revenge and endangers everyone in his way.

So he’s a driven sylvari is what you’re saying xD

I’ll agree that he’s pretty nuts from our standards, but if you look at sylvari, I wouldn’t honestly say that this kind of thing isn’t really that wildly out of character. Many sylvari seem to hold death in a more curious regard than feared, so while he’s certainly dangerous and unpredictable, I don’t see him really being “crazy” by sylvari standards. Just… very, very bold.

Single player dungeons aren’t dungeons. I’m really disappointed with the two new instances, they are short and the mechanics aren’t well designed.

The Molten Weapon Facility, now that was a dungeon. I was expecting some of similar quality, instead Arenanet catered to the people who complained about dungeons in the end no one wins.

Arenanet needs to decide what is a valid complaint and what isn’t.

The Molten Facility was amazing, but to be fair, that was the end result of what, a three month buildup? This was a month long event, so it’s not exactly fair to expect something of the same caliber from a third of the time.

I think there would have to be evidence that the player was aware of ANet’s stance on whether or not it’s an exploit. I mean, if I hadn’t seen this thread and just gone in and played on a few different characters and noticed I got it every time, I’d probably do the exploit without even thinking that I was breaking a rule. I mean, it’s in the game, so I don’t think most people would give it a second thought.

On the other hand, if ANet investigates forum posts and sees that the person was posting in this thread, or searched chat logs and saw that the player was chatting with other people and had this discussion, I could see it being a punishable offense.

Just depends on the situation, I think. Since we’re all posting here though, probably shouldn’t risk that, haha. Looks like it’s too late for us folkses.

Like I said, I did enjoy the crap out of it, but I think the whole “win X games with ____ snowball profession” might work a little better. Or maybe keep the one where you score with the presents, but replace the killer achieve with a “Win X games with a selected snowball profession.”
That way it keeps it challenging while still allowing for one slightly easier achievement. I can understand having some that are supposed to be pretty hard, since you only have to claim 12 achieves to get the title, but having both games be that tricky might be a bit much. Shrug

dungeons are fine but too short (excluding Arah) and absolutely with no reward whatsoever.

Except of course, the high EXP, the karma, sellable drops, a decent amount of coin, dungeon tokens and fun, right?

Lol… So like having a bunch of causal dungeon gear which takes no skill to get

You’re complaining that the dungeon is chaotic and hard, then you’re saying that running a dungeon enough to get what sounds like 2+ sets of the dungeon’s armor takes no skill?
Riiiight.

is suppose to make someone an expert on the subject.

Moreso than someone who ran just one dungeon, got angry and made a complaint thread? Yes.

Most dungeons don’t require moderately bunker’d builds to kite. For example, I run dungeons pretty often with my wife, friends and PuGs while on my Necro, and much more often than not I’m using my dual Daggers, not my Staff. You just have to gauge what bosses you can melee and what bosses you can’t. It’s meant to shake things up so that some bosses allow you to play in your comfort zone and others make you move around more.

I don’t think they’re too easy. I don’t really have many problems once I get to know them, but no matter what is added, there will always be tricks that we’ll learn to make it through. If they tweak them to be harder, we’ll just dodge the new traps or figure new ways to pull enemies. IMO, they’re hard enough to be a semi-significant challenge to players new to them, and I think that’s a good sign.

I’ve farmed all paths of every dungeon except for TA, CoF and Arah with different groups every time. Though the dungeons are challenging, there has never been any real issue completing them with any prof combo that I’ve come across. It seems to be more about learning how the specific dungeon plays.

For example, Path 1 (I think?) of SE. I ran this with a group about a month ago to no success for about two hours straight, stuck against the dredge boss that sets everyone on fire. We all thought that condition removal was the only way to beat it, so we left and re-traited and came back in.
Later we discovered that standing on the fountains removes the burning. We didn’t have to re-trait or anything, we just missed a dungeon function.

I’m a completionist apparently (didn’t know there was a term for it until this event, lul), so that side of me is irked that I can’t seem to complete the Clocktower. But on the other hand, trying and failing at that tower is so freaking fun, I don’t really care that much.

That, and it doesn’t count toward the EotMK title. I’d probably be legitimately annoyed if it did, but ANet was pretty slick with their foresight in that department.

But as for the Halloween events as a whole, I loved them! They were a wonderful break from the usual, I appreciate that. Aaaand they were fun as hell! They were a bit time consuming, but completing everything a decently built event has to offer is guaranteed to be time consuming to some degree. I actually love the Clock Tower, despite the many hours spent trying to complete it and never coming close. I’ve come to the conclusion that no amount of practice will make this possible for me, and I guess that’s okay. It doesn’t count toward the Emissary of the Mad King title, which is most of what I care about, so it’s not a big deal. I am simply not good enough.

The only part of that that truly bugs me is the mass of people who have completed the Tower bragging and talking about how anyone willing to actually try could complete it if they want to, and how “easy” ANet made it. That irritates the crap out of me. Be glad that you did it, sure. I’ll congratulate you too, but don’t gloat when it’s obviously a sore subject for a massive amount of people.

Movement in Previews

in Suggestions

Posted by: RileyTheRad.8542

RileyTheRad.8542

When planning out what armor and weapons we want on our characters, it’s a pretty common practice to either find the merchant that offers an item in consideration to preview it, or to ask a friend or someone in Map Chat to link it in the text to preview. Previewing is an awesome feature that really helps players customize their characters’ appearance, and I’m immensely glad to see it in the game.

Unfortunately, for characters that use, say, Daggers for instance, it’s very difficult to actually see them in the preview window. The view of your character is always at rest, and it’s very easy for smaller weapons like Daggers or Focuses to get lost in the rest of your clothing.

Now, if I have a weapon equipped, I can usually just hit 1 if I want to see them and my character will whip out the weapons and take a bouncy combat stance (I play an Asura). This gives a very nice view of the weapons regardless of the size, so how great would it be for the character model in the preview window to mirror the actions of your actual character? Just hit 1 for example, and you’d be able to see your character holding the weapon out to view it fully and even get some flashy animations of your character using the weapon with his/her skills.

What do you guys think?

It’s fine as it is. Some of the complaints are valid such as Asura having difficulties, but the rest are just whining about something being “too hard”.

Where are you getting these numbers? Your post makes no sense. And don’t you think 500,000 not being able to do something is a bit much?
I just feel that the fact that well over half of the players I see trying this can’t do it. If it were here for longer than this, maybe we’d have enough time to get it down pat. But it’s here for a couple days. If people are throwing hours on hours at this thing and just can’t do it, and it’s an incredibly significant amount of the players, that’s where a problem comes in.

Hoopa doopa.
