reguardless,
my point is things dont need to be easier, just let the content stay difficult
I still do not see what is so difficult about this content? From my current experience it’s just content gating after gating to artificially extend play time
They want to shift the population to open world zerg trains
OP you’re so cool and skillful how did you become such a great player?
Can we hardcore players enjoy our content? You casuals already had your fun for 3 years, now that content is challenging let me enjoy it, too many selfish whiners. Anet better not nerf anything but instead they should mimic darksouls playstyle. Let me ask a question to all the whiners why have a good combat if the content is not challenging? What is the whole point of an excellent combat system if players don’t use it to it’s full potential, hell they even gave us action crosshair mode, I am glad content is challenging now, combat makes more sense now.
I still don’t see what is so hardcore about the open world content.I thought the challenging content was suppose to be the raid then fractals/dungeons?
If you enjoyed the zerg train content such as dry top and silverwastes then you’ll love the expansion
Yes I never understood why mobs don’t scale based off 1 and up. To me it seems they have a fixed value based off 3-5 people then go up from there. I mean yes its doable solo but the amount of health for 1 person is too much imo
The pricing is pretty steep I ended up paying around 65+ can’t remember the exact figure. For an expansion which I’m already starting to regret. I’ve purchased many other games such as Battlefield where I wasn’t hit with an exchange rate fee.
I feel the same, there’s no real direction. I feel like I’m just running around looking for stuff to do and the mobs are very hard to solo and it feels like the new zone is dead. It’s not what I was expecting really.
What a shame seems like they stuck with the zerg train content from dry top and silver wastes. The biggest issue I find is the mobs probably don’t really start scaling after 3-5 people so with less it takes ages
I do, it came with 2 new classes, a huge new game world and tons of new armor, 2 new class slots, and did I mention a huge new game world. Anet you guys were amazing back in the day, look at what you did right with the old games and apply them to new ones. Quality is what we as a player want, this new game is not.
Well it’s what happens when people are willing to pay for less
you’re comparing two completely different groups of people
Let’s consider some other expansions:
Diablo III’s expansion lasted 3-4 hours, with all replay ability being found in grinding harder difficulties of these levels. It costed $50 at launch.
GTA IV’s expansion episodes lasted around 10-20 hours, and were priced at a total of $40 for both.
Destiny, the Taken King, lasts around 15-20 hours, and raids were incrementally released after launch. It costs $40.
Based off of these, I’d say HoT is pretty reasonably priced, considering the amount of content it contains is actually more than any of the aforementioned examples.
diablo 3 expansion is a completely different game you spend the majority of your time grinding to upgrade gear in rifts/grifts. It is a loot hunt game which gw2 isn’t
Now there is 0 gold at the end of FOTM as loot – GG anet
So you nerf dungeons + fractals..
Honestly what now is the point of this ‘end-game’ I have all the ascended boxs I could ever wish for – and there is 0 gold or anything of use being dropped. You’ve just created another gold sink.
Zerg train content.
Losing streaks are normal it happens in Dota 2 and cs go. Nobody ever complains about winning 10+ games in a row
So when fractals came out I did a lot of fractals and ended up with over 70 ascended rings and was wondering if they ever added any value to them through something like salvaging?
It also tells some players that they can’t play the endgame, so they should find another game to play.
Yes because raids are obviously the only end game content and anets only future content will be raids
Change is hard, and nobody is forced to raid in HoT. My perspective GW2 is going in the right direction with specializations, healing, and raids.
If you want a WoW clone, go play FFXIV. Stop pushing the devs to make this game into your amusement park. The original vision for this game is eroding so rapidly, much of it thanks to people begging for more of the same MMO tropes.
Oh look the game is finally trying to add difficult content now everyone is mad that they can’t gain access to it? You make it sound like anet will completely stop developing zerg train content and only focus on raids
Bit of a shame. Skill will be still be the main requirement to kill the bosses, but to actually come out and make a comment endorsing Ascended will only trigger more people asking for gear checks. Gear check, inspects etc are the bane of MMO’s. They go against the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
Currently this is an extremely small issue compared to other games, but will probably change come HoT now. This is meant to be the game which forgoes that problem and encourages teamplay not waiting around for the right classes and gear. It almost gets the former, but I’m not necs seeing the company encourage the latter.
Ascended armour is not something pleasant for most players to get. If it was, it wouldn’t be so much of an issue. Now, those coming into the game new, will be gated by other players requiring ascended before they can step into the raid. That’s not how GW should work.
If I am shut out of a raid, I want it to be because I am not good enough as a player, not because I don’t have someone elses perception of what items I should have on me.
From your post it seems you think these raids will be puggable like dungeons and fractals. If they are which I doubt for the first few months at least then they aren’t really challenging as anet is making it out to be
(edited by RoRo.8270)
Well time to sell my grinning shields. Kind of disappointed anet is bringing back old skins. I mean ya it’s great for players that weren’t around but it just removes the rarity/uniqueness of these skins
I would contact support not much forum goers can do for you.
You aren’t missing much especially considering the majority of open world events are giant zerg trains
14. I actually play all of them as I mainly pvp. If this game had build templates like gw2 I would have less.
Don’t worry it’ll only take them 6months minimum as usual to balance it.
Lets call this for what it is, an attempt to lower the que time in PvP (and trying to make e-sport out of GW2), so once again PvE suffers to they can try to keep PvP junk alive, at this point I wish Anet would abandon the PvP and Iggy (he tried his best to kill PvE in Guild Wars 1)
Why Anet didn’t just restrict the free account to PvP I will never understand. Well the nicest RPG community I have ever had the great pleasure to be a part of just took a dive. Thank Iggy for another bad decision and a big dump on PvE.
You’re beyond delusional if you think anets main focus is pvp.
It’s actually why some of my friends quit the combat is just too easy. They even ended up nerfing the mobs in orr
I don’t agree with the petition that we was quoted but if anet is calling this content challenging and it ends up being puggable then imo it isn’t really challenging
Once the F2P floodgates open you will see the quality of players from those countries who can’t even afford to pay $10. They don’t speak English, they’re extremely rude players that harass people because they feel their country should ‘take over’ the server.
As much as I’d like to just dismiss claims like this as stereotyping…I can’t. Because I’ve seen it happen in other games. It’s, of course, not all of the players from these countries. But there can be a large number of them, as well as English-speakers that are just as disruptive.
I don’t recall seeing a lot of that in Tera when I played for a while earlier this year. Though, chats were still rather bad at times(worse than anything I’ve seen in GW2). So it does seem that phenomenon can be one that doesn’t last. But it certainly does happen to at least some games that make a F2P move.
It was really bad when TERA first went F2P. I picked up the game for $10 the week before it went F2P just to check it out, that first week, it wasn’t all that bad. But THE DAY it went F2P it became flooded with BR’s, flooding chat, harassing anyone speaking in a language other than Portuguese, sending you whispers about how this was “their server now” and you’d find gangs of people with brazilian flags as their guild logo running around kill stealing from anyone NOT using a Brazilian flag guild or with .Br in their name, or all flagging and gang pk’ing people (until level capped non BR’s came by and slaughtered them all (and then they got harassed in tells)). It was a terrible community and made me uninstall. I recently reinstalled and am playing again on a different server and it’s not quite as bad so you might be right about it not being a lasting deterioration of community.
But I for one dread that first month or so of F2P players.
Sounds like Dota 2. The US servers have basically been taken over my south American players. The worst part is they refuse to communicate in English. They grow up with a different culture and it really shows when they play f2p games
ITT people overreacting on barely any information. How do we know they are traditional raids? Knowing anet I doubt they are and if they are why does it matter?
Because Guild Wars players have had a hate kitten for WoW since the GW:Prophecies days.
Anything that is in WoW is automatically bad and should never be in GW2. You want mounts? Well kitten that idea, WoW has mounts and WoW is the antichrist as long as you ignore the Riding Broom and Magic Carpet.
This isn’t even remotely true. I’ve played guild wars 1 since the bwe and wow but quit during burning crusade. You make it sound as if wow invented raiding

As someone that has no love for WoW and has played GW since 2005, I can say I don’t really care what WOW has or hasn’t done. I don’t care for typical raid content, but I also don’t care if it it gets added to GW2. The only concern I do have regarding it is the effect that type of content can have on a community. There is already more than enough elitism in dungeons, having larger parties just makes that mentality even harder to overcome.
Maybe Anet will have a different take on raids, like they do with other types of content. I don’t really expect them to copy the style from other MMOs, but it’s hard to not have some similarities. I’d like to see this turn out to be something I might actually do, and not some disappointment that involves an hour of trying to organize builds and roles for 30 players.
tldr
I don’t really care as long as it’s not some elitism fueled mess. As for the whether it’s actually something good or bad, I’ll wait till we actually see it.
If these raids are as challenging as they are hyping it up to be you won’t be pugging them. I also never got this whole elitism vibe from dungeons. If it’s such a problem create your own groups stating you do not want those types of players.

They look ridiculous and imo don’t fit the games theme/artstyle. It went all downhill after they started adding backpack plushies. Then the super sayian char hair and all the neon dyes. It’s like I’m not even playing guild wars 2 anymore.
Yah. In Guild Wars 1 you only had people running around headless or with flames instead of a head, or with a pumpkin head. People also ran around looking like giant candy corn monsters or various other creatures, as well as doing missions and dungeons transformed.
You’re comparing holiday skins to skins that aren’t holiday?

If you think this game has a toxic community you’ve never played a moba. Imagine being trapped with a flamer/troll/feeder/blamer/etc for 40+mins because if you bail you get penalized. I do believe they need to do more banwise because i’ve reported mouthy players that use derogatory terms and they have yet to be banned. If anet actually banned these players there would be fear and people would think twice before they start spewing their dribble
Too bad so sad you missed it life goes on.
Didn’t like them the first time I did em. I don’t know how any sane person can enjoy zerging around. The worst part are the leechers/afkers that just hit the mob and few times while everyone else does all the work and they still get rewarded. No thanks
its a little unfair that i earned tribal set and you didn’t?
while i was pvping you were pveing and earned your Wings of the Sunless,
i guess its a little unfair that i wasn’t given that, Anet should mail me it…please folks stop trying to get the very few old rare heirloom items made commonplace.
there isn’t much of value in this game, legendaries are all over the place, go to lions arch you’ll see 20 people with Twilight.
the Tribal set is one of the few things that i’m happy i have because of its scarcity.
you folks just want everything to be worthless and commonpool.Lol earned Tribal set. The tribal pvp skin was pure RNG, don’t act like you earned kitten.
It was pretty easy to craft if you pvpd at all.
They could also try this for a week to see how many people actually prefer SoloQ over Ranked and make their decision based on that
They had separate solo and team queue but most likely removed it because team queue times were too long.
How about the solo queue time, is it long too?
It was pretty short. I waited on average 3mins for a queue. Team queue was upwards of 10mins

If you blocked him how can he annoy you? You can also view him in the blocked player list and wait until he gets into a match before queueing
Why have exclusive items if you’re just going to keep bringing them back?
Anet abandoned dungeons for open world content where any mouth breather, afker, leecher, etc can partake without being left out.
Lol pve is stale because it’s scripted ai mobs that for the most part aren’t challenging and have had the most efficient farm methods developed
Still not reverting back the team and solo queue combination? Well then this whole league idea is laughable then
Considering that PvP players can have all the HoM ranger pets, including the 30 point Black Widow Spider even though they have zero HoM points, this is nothing new.
That makes a lot of sense now. I was like how the hell does every single ranger have the black widow in hotm.
And what does this have to do with pvp?
Oh noez no new dresses for my barbie doll
Because world bosses are open world and anet wants everyone to be able to participate no matter if you afk, noob, pro, etc
No it would make no sense for them to bring it make. Then they would have to bring back every other item that isn’t obtainable.
You’re making a big deal out of nothing. Just block then and move on. Talk about first world problems. Stop making yourself a victim.

yes and how many of those hours were doing tasks that can potentially reward a precursor?
Start your own party?
