Can Males get some revealing armor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rognik.2579

Rognik.2579

As a male, I too support the idea of revealing armor for males. I was looking around towns and saw human males with an open vest without a shirt underneath and male norn wandering around with little more than a cape between their waist and chin. If I want to have my character exposed like that, it’d be nice to have that as an option without removing armour outright. It doesn’t even have to be dynamically similar. Why not have an armour set or two where the guy actually wears less than his female equivalent. I think that would be a bigger step towards feminism or gender equality or whatever you want to call it than most of the suggestions in this thread.

And as a brief word to those arguing about how covered up the various classes are or are not, please stop. Yes, it is a perfectly reasonable discussion and one that needs to be had, but do we have to do it in this thread? There are ways to make it clear that you oppose the idea without having to champion the cause.

Depending on how large the new areas are, completing HoT maps might just give another Gift of Exploration, so long as it’s not significantly easier to complete. Of course, this question is also partially dependent on what will be needed for the new legendary items. As the means to acquire the precursors will be radically different, perhaps the recipes will be different from the already established ones.

in fact Orrians in general are few and far between – I’ve heard even if you are Orrian you keep it a secret.

I’m pretty sure that’s not true. I know there’s a human walking around Orr, claiming to descended from Orrians. I don’t recall her being secretive or ashamed of it, either. Could be misremembering this; it’s been a while since I really explored Orr.

I understand the original post,so let me try to steer the conversation back to where it should be.

Your character is still a member of your order. However, after the attack from Zhaitan’s troops, s/he decided a bigger organization is needed. This is how the Pact is formed, and members from all three orders are sent to join it. There are still odd nods back to your original order, though. For instance, if you’re a member of the Priory, Ela Makkay will recognise you as a Magister during Hidden Arcana.

As for being Commander of the Pact, I can’t quite say why s/he isn’t just waiting or commanding troops in preparation for the next dragon assault. As far as I know, there isn’t a Pact HQ, aside from Fort Trinity, and even that is constantly under assault by Risen. So I suppose the PC wanders around, being the good person they are helping out everyone in need. Mysterious event at Dragon Bash? Go join a detective. Cragstead under attack? Help Braham free his home town. Mysterious, toxic tower formerly hidden in Kessex Hills? Well, we have to climb to the top of it!

This isn’t the first time there’s been a lull in the 2 week update cycle, and it won’t be the last. There’s usually something new, and right now that’s the lunar festival. Pretty soon, something new will replace it, and we’ll have something else to enjoy or rant over, or both, as some people seem to enjoy ranting.

I also find it mildly ironic how you changed your mind from the last thread you started. From “does the living world suck” to “I miss living world!” I guess you never know a good thing until it’s gone.

Hmmm, I think most people forget Rytlock’s trip to Underworld.
We may as will use the memory seed or whatever to become Rytlock, experiencing his adventure in the Underworld.

Except the memory seeds only work for sylvari. The Pale Tree says as much when she gives them to you.
Also, he went into the Mists, not the Underworld. The Underworld was a specific realm of Grenth, while all souls go into the Mists. I… don’t quite know the difference, but I’m sure a certain someone can explain if you want the explanation.

If I got this right, your main gripe is that you have to pay 200 gems (if you haven’t unlocked for free) for LS episode 3, which mostly contains re-used content to get started on Mawdrey 2?

Well, turns out, you can get those ingridients from the centaur in Dry Top for a few laurels. So there’s no need to do it.

Sorry about the tinfoil hat.

Nope, I mean the seed. It is episode 2 IIRC. You must buy it to get the first seed.

No, the seed is given by a charr in the Iron Marches through the mail. That was chapter 3, and the first back piece was entirely contained in that chapter.

angry rant against Trahearne

So you want the title, but do you want to manage the nitty-gritty details like troop numbers, maneuvers and other responsibilities? I’m more than happy to leave that up to Trahearne. Plus, if I’m just second-in-command, it’s much easier for me to slip away to do other things. And while it might be more of a convenience, the fact that he isn’t one of the three Orders is a pretty good reason.

You may want the glory, but remember all the responsibilities leadership has. (Plus, that means he leads the troops off to die, and might die himself.)

I agree that if there is housing customization added, it should be to the home instance. That is basically housing, but aside from a few cash shop or LS rewards, there’s not much to show off. Even the NPCs added from the PS just stand there, saying nothing new – or at all. Even if every character just said a line or two to the effect of “thank you for helping me with…” or “remember that time we…” as a reminder of what we did with them would be great.

I also don’t think we’re necessarily waiting 8 months for the expansion, either. Lots of people may guess it’ll be on the 3rd anniversary, but ArenaNet is infamous for its “When it’s Ready™” policy, so it could very well be sooner, considering how much has already been revealed finished.

We aren’t getting season 3 before HoT is released; they’ve all but said as much. There will be other events to keep us occupied in between, I’m sure. If nothing else, there are double XP weekends, mini-events like SAB, or some other surprise we might not know about. Maybe we’ll have a “Lion’s Arch is Rebuilt” party (just in time for the lion statue to be destroyed 2 months later), or have some in-gme teasers of the new specializations, or Rytlock’s return before he charges westward. There’s plenty of stuff we can be surprised with, even after all the “deep dives” are revealed.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Rognik.2579

I don’t know if anyone is still harping about this in the thread, but I feel the need to address the whole “Trinity” thing. Yes, ArenaNet claims to have broken the mold, but they didn’t. Not entirely, at least. Instead, they took the trinity, broke the roles up and gave a little bit of each to every profession. A warrior with banners is buffing the party, a guardian with “Save Yourselves” removes conditions, an elementalist can tank a little when attuned to earth. Adding the Taunt mechanic doesn’t bring back the trinity, nor had it ever really gone away. You could still go into any dungeon with any 5 professions, so long as each one is built right (or have synergistic builds).

Given their track record in using the word World and it`s synonyms, while only meaning the continent Tyria, there could be certainly other around the whole world (Seriously, Scarlet attacked all around the globe , we had a world summit only consisting of the five high races. Seriously, give them a map -_- ).

And the World Series barely extends beyond the US borders. Miss Universe only includes Earth. I think a little liberty with the language can be overlooked.

But back to the original point. Yes, Rytlock will be first “officially”, but it’s not like the PC is ever referred to by his profession. So things get a little wonky. So a Ritualist killed the Lich King before the trade routes to Cantha opened wide. So what? We can overlook stuff like that from time to time. You’re still the hero, and get to destroy all the bad guys out there.

And if all else fails, remember the motto: “Any lore not mentioned in the game is flexible and subject to change.” This includes Colin’s announcement at PAX South.

there have been other revenants , Razah was one(( technically)) as was Shiro ((technically)) both came back from the mists . So no its not the first time its happened; Rytlock is just the last one in a couple of centuries to have done it .

What about the norn Havroun? Can’t they cross into the Mists and return?

No one’s commented on this, and I kind of feel like it should have. Yes, the havrouns can open portals to the Mists, but it’s not the same kind of magic revenants are going to use. I believe I did the storyline where my norn went into the Mists with the havroun to fight some imbalance, but it was merely a parallel of the same map with a whitish filter over the landscape. I admit, I forget most of the rest of that storyline, but they don’t seem to walk in the Mists that much if they can avoid it.

On the other hand the skritt tunnels have 3 states. They can be open, closed or waiting for the event to clear the bandits. That means extra waiting.

And the tunnel is only closed when the skritt are not in charge. There is both an attack event (killing the bandits) and a defense event (fight off the bandits), but as I mentioned, most people won’t do this unless going to Far Silverwastes. So there isn’t much of a wait period, although admittedly I haven’t checked post defense failure to killing bandits, but the wait time is minimal to go north. Plus, once you do finally get there, most people will waypoint there rather than worry about this event.

So, just kill the bandits, run over to the tunnel, and stop whining about it. I guarantee you will have enough time, even without speed boosters, to get up there.

Rognik.2579

Man, again, just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist (A reason to be in a risen-less Orr).

Maybe not, but if you propose taking most if not all the Risen out of Orr, some other challenge has to be put in its place. Would the temple mechanics still be in place? Would there be some new enemy attacks, like the gravelings in Ascalon Catacombs? And what exactly does “purifying Orr” mean anyway? These elements have to be answered before any change to the map could be made.

Personally, I prefer keeping Orr as it is until the maps expand outwards. Changing the maps isn’t about to make any more people play there unless it’s a radical change (which means lots of manpower and hours), and just throwing new loot opportunities would unbalance other elements. The map isn’t really broken, there’s just a slight disconnect between story and gamelay, and this would be overlooked if this were any other MMO. I think people are just expecting far too much here.

No More Branching Stories?

I don’t really feel like writing a lengthy response…

If this is short, I hate to see your long responses. But enough gentle ribbing at Konig’s expense.

I have to agree that there was a lot of missed chances in the Personal Story. The characters in the early branches should have come back far more than they were. Having Deborah come back is a great nod, even if there was a 1 in 15 chance of her being seen earlier. Too often, the plot line is just discarded after the chapter is over.

Then again, some chapters have a reference come back without it being clear. For instance, the Honorless Gladium storyline ends with you either killing your father or helping him escape. Because of this split, his character, and the jailer you hunted him down with, can’t really be brought back down the road without careful maneuvering, but that’s not the part that’s relevent. Part of what he had been doing involved finding a relic of Balthazar, which is later used in the Durmand Priory path post-Claw Island. This is definitely an interesting link, but because of how the story was set up, it was easy to miss.

Perhaps part of why people kept doing the same paths is because of key farming, or they felt one theme was more interesting than the other 3. Personally, I feel any player which doesn’t WANT to explore all the paths (ignoring the impracticality of that in the current system) is missing out on so many little nods that were seeded through the entire PS.

As for the progression to the linear story, there are still a few variations to be had. People mentioned that Kasmeer never acknowledges the human nobility, but I believe there is a point in the first instance of season 2, chapter 1 where talking with Kasmeer as a human gives you a different branch from the other races, and I think being human noble gives unique dialog. (Last time I saw on the wiki, that combo hadn’t been included.) I wish more mentions or nods like this would be hidden in the game, letting the choices have meaning even now and possibly add some replayability.

Jalis's death confirmed?

Honestly, I don’t know if we’ll ever see if Jalis still lives until we go into the depths to confront Primordus. I do believe it means Jalis is dead, so that we can (better) channel his power, but I can see the argument that it’s just the echo of Jalis while he was still flesh (perhaps a death of what he was before?).

As to the repercussions of Jalis’s hypothetical death, it doesn’t mean the line is broken, so much as he, the individual, has fallen. After being turned to stone, the dwarves lost much of what they were, so the role of king meant so much less. Maybe they lost a general, or just a mighty fighter, but they will continue to fight until they are all wiped out of Primordus is defeated.

As said above, you don’t need Guild Wars 1 to enjoy the sequel. It’s about 250 years after those events, so while most of the characters are dead, a lot will seem familiar. I can’t walk through the Plains of Ashford without getting flashbacks of Ascalon’s starting area. That statue of Badazar, in the center with two cresting hills on either side, I passed numerous times. The purple crystals from the Searing are also a familiar sight. It’s nostalgic for old players, but it doesn’t detract if new players don’t recognise them.

If you want to play the old game, do so. I got a lot of enjoyment out of it, and I really enjoy having my accounts linked for the carry-over bonuses. A small part of me wants to go back and finish a few more of the achievements, so I could get my Orrian chicken, but I had years to finish that off when the Heritage Calculator was around, I probably won’t finish. Still, I’m tempted to skin one of my swords as a fiery dragon sword. Maybe my charr revenant, so he can be a total Rytlock fanboy.

As I said before, it doesn’t have to be a perfect correlation.

IMO, if it isn’t perfect correlation, it’s not a correlation.

Math would beg to differ. There are actual formulas in statistics that can give you a mathematical degree of how correlated two factors are based on a grid or best-fit line to points of data (eg. height vs family income), and this correlation factor ranges from 1 (perfect correlation) to -1 (inverse correlation, eg. the more cats you have, the fewer mice there are) with 0 being no correlation at all. I may be arguing based on a .1 correlation currently, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one, just that my data points are faulty,

I can’t argue for or against any of your other points right now, but there’s still so much we haven’t been told about the other dragons. Even Zhaitan, the one we learned the most about as we went to slay him, still has information about him coming out post-mortem (like his spheres of influence). So I’m willing to table this debate until at least HoT is released.

Let’s not forget the key to any not in-game piece of lore: anything not in an official release (the games, and some of the books), it’s subject to revision. So while it’s believed that sylvari are modeled after Ronan and his family, maybe the Pale Tree took the perception of human anatomy from the same source everything in the initial Dream did for the Firstborn. Maybe the Trees (assuming there is indeed more than one and Malyck is not just a stray pod from something) are linked somehow on even a subconscious level (do trees even have a consciousness?). Maybe we’ll get some answers from deep in Maguuma.

Unlock Specializations Earlier!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Rognik.2579

Rognik.2579

My theory is they’ve settled on this level 80 number on the basis of feedback from existing players – who all would mostly have their characters at level 80 – and not on the basis of feedback from potential new customers or former players who might buy HoT.

Totally untrue. There’s an interview from WAAAAAAY back, that talked about how, when planning out GW2, it would either have a low level cap – like GW1 did at a mere level 20 – or a fairly high cap that people could work for but then just ends. As you know, they went for a 80-level progression. And it’s not because they let players loose with no level cap and decided “oh, level 80? That seems high enough”, but it was the end point they had already chosen. They also knew, just like in the first game, that the level cap and grind to the next level, isn’t all that fun. That’s why there’s no real gear grind, and you can get this strong gear numerous ways, not just repeating AC over and over and over again, hoping for it to drop.

As for the topic at hand, it’s not as if you will be picking one specialization and be done with it, or never able to go back to the base profession. It’s offering a new play style, a twist on the classes you’ve learned up until now. On my characters, I’ve often switched up which weapon I was using, based both on what I find and which skills I find most useful. I even found some utility skills interact better with some weapons than others. Moving to the specialization just means having to deal with a slightly different setup, and we’ll know much more after the deep dive (which just can’t come soon enough! It’s like Wintersday morning!) exactly how they will work, how we will learn them, and just how different they’ll be. We might even learn what all the specializations will be called (wishful thinking, I know).

The Living Story isn’t a “core element” of the game, either. It’s bonus content, for after Zhaitan has been defeated, and leads up to the next big chapter of the game. As people keep saying, being able to pay this small cost is better than not being able to play it at all. You might feel it’s a slap in the face, as you are reminded whenever you check your personal story log, but there’s a massive chapter that has entirely vanished from the world, and you will never experience it (in the foreseeable future, at least). So would you rather these 8 chapters be lost in time forever as well, or are you willing to pay ~$20 to get the whole story?

Let’s not forget events that get you into the leyline hub for Chapters 2-4, where you have to beat the Inquest blocking the entrance to the cave. Or before that, where you have to clear mordrem to get the vine bridge(s) to grow. Or even in Prosperity, after it was destroyed, there are 3 mordrem champions that must be defeated to get into Scarlet’s apartment. The only reason you might not have seen these events – aside from never setting foot in Dry Top – is because any event successfully completed there advances the meta-event, which most players on that map want to achieve.

Meanwhile, in the Silverwastes, having the skritt tunnels open mostly only allows a quick skip over the map, and there is little to no motivation to keep the tunnels open once the players who need the Far Silverwastes have gone there. So for the first time in your story, instead of being carried by other people to the instance start, you have to do the event yourself.

Sorry, but you’ll have to suck it up and spend the 3-5 minutes it takes to clear out Picaroon Scratch, then run to the appropriate tunnel. Far faster than waiting for someone else to do it for you, and you’ll hopefully realize it’s the journey not the destination you’re playing this game for.

A Question About Elder Dragons...

in Lore

Posted by: Rognik.2579

Rognik.2579

He’s effectively restating what Oola says in a more specific manner: souls are magical energy (or can be used as such.

But that statement is separate from his mention of asura and mesmers. While some asura do use souls as magical energy (Inquest, primarily), his mention of asura was that they have managed to manipulate and store magic (both related and unrelated to souls). Similarly, mesmers are capable of manipulating magic (as are all other magical professions, just in different manners and focuses).

Is there any dynamic event or dungeon in which we learn that the asura are using souls? More specifically, why would the mere act of storing magic be enough to keep it “balanced”? I would have thought that the bloodstones demonstrated that such an approach was unsustainable in the long-term scheme of things. Furthermore, hasn’t what the asura are doing (i.e. storing magic) been around for centuries in the form of artifacts (such as the artifacts from Abaddon’s Temple that Zaithan consumed)? How would asuran power crystals be any different?

I don’t know if any current asura follow this practice, and the few that do (Inquest) tend to be very secretive of their research and knowledge. However, in the second instance of Seeds of Truth, we do see Vorpp using sylvari souls life force to power the golem Faolain is fighting. It kills the sylvari powering the device after a while, so it isn’t a perfect power source.

All right, I will admit I was pigeonholing the spheres of influence a bi too much, but Konig, you’re doing the exact opposite. I was never trying to make a grand pronouncement like “the Gods are the dragons. The humans are killing their gods” or something on that scale, simply that there is a link. I’m also not going to try and link every single god, past and present, just to satisfy a 1:1 correlation. If Zhaitan can die, and has died, then it’s reasonable to assume that elder dragons may have died in the distant past, and were perhaps replaced. Perhaps there were more than 6 elder dragons in the past.

There are still things we can draw from this. 6 is quite possibly a mystic number in Tyria, with both the 6 human gods and 6 elder dragons. Perhaps there is a link between the gods and the dragons, but in the most remote way. I feel convinced that there is a link between Lyssa and Kralkatorrik, considering that both of their signature colours are purple. When Kralk flew over Ascalon, the ground below it instantly corrupted, which seems pretty chaotic to me. And yes, the creatures turned into crystals, but don’t most people consider crystals beautiful?

As for DSD, how could you say he doesn’t have the sphere of water? He lives in the water! I don’t think we’ve seen any of him minions yet, either, so claiming tentacles is just as much conjecture as anything I’ve thrown out so far. I can’t quite see how at this moment, but perhaps this dragon feeds off secrets, caused by the numerous shipwrecks it has caused.

As I said before, it doesn’t have to be a perfect correlation. It doesn’t even have to be more than a passing similarity. But there seems to be too much of a parallel to be just a coincidence, especially when there are writers behind the scenes. Just remember how people were debating about sylvari being dragon minions, and the end result of that.

Meanwhile, in ArenaNet headquarters, the staff and giggling evilly over all this speculation and how accurate it is (either close or far from the truth).

And you know people would do it. Even now you’ll find the occasional “naked” party.

I have to agree that medium armor is rather long-coat heavy. A few more options that just end at the waist would be nice, but the few new styles added seem to follow the norm. As for skirts vs pants, I haven’t noticed yet despite both my light classes being female (one is a charr, though). Still, trousers or even just tights under shorter skirts would be nice. Not every light profession needs to be in billowy clothing.

I do appreciate that they are trying to make a distinction between norn and human more than just norns being big humans. I think that’s why the humans of both genders tend to be more slender and less bulky than the norn, and the norn males are far hairier in nearly every respect. I don’t want that distinction lost, even if most people miss it entirely.

That being said, I’m always down for more customisable options. There will always be some options that are left out (see a similarly titled thread a few pages back, now locked), but I think there’s a good range of options now as it is, and we might occasionally have to sacrifice to get either the race or the look we want when we can’t get both.

People who do the def despite better knowledge event are obviously selfish people who want to deny people the chance for the desired loot.

People have already beaten on this point a lot, but I’ll try and do it a different way. The people who are doing the defense event, just because it’s there, are not being greedy. They are taking their fun where they can find it.

You, who are looking for a specific item, are the greedy one, since there are probably other items with similar stats but won’t complete the collection log (or the specific skin, if you’re looking for that).

If this is the only way to find the item, I don’t begrudge you for that, but at least direct your anger at the right source. Other players aren’t the ones who neglected to put exotic gear in the defense chest, it was the programmers, and they ought to fix it if this is as big a problem as it seems to be. Defending the temple should be just as big a deal as claiming it to begin with.

Besides, that would still mean a whole new storyline for the one profession, even if it doesn’t have options for the first 3 chapters or any branching at all. No, this will just become another plot hole in the ever changing living world. Don’t look at it too closely, and you won’t even see it there.

I think that, so long as every profession has equal access to it, and that it’s restricted to certain areas, this could be a really fun mechanic. Maybe it’s even a type of mastery, where necromancers could gain longer bone bridges or mesmers can portal farther. It couldn’t be open like the old Ride the Lightning, as there’d be too many people breaking out of the maps and seeing weird things they shouldn’t. Like how people knew what the inside of Fort Trinity looked, even though it was supposed to be impassable through its gates.

Edit: alternately, it could be set up so only that specific profession could access the area for a specific ability, but that seems doubtful. Old posts about the game suggested that professions would learn new skills by travelling around the world (a necromancer can find an NPC ghost near Serenity Temple that no others can, although she doesn’t have much dialog) but was scrapped for… reasons I can’t currently recall.

Headgear was the last unlocked, I believe, during Point of No Return. It’s also remotely possible you got one of the chests from a drop in the jungle. Have you checked your collections to see if you have any of the collections unlocked?

what will happen to Orr?

Except that the old Personal Story doesn’t change, and the dungeon isn’t going away. Orr suffers from MMO syndrome: frozen in time despite what the plot says and can’t quite move on. It’s in a state of flux, like Schrodinger’s Cat: Orr is both corrupted and cleansed at the same time, depending on how far in the story you are.

The reason the god-dragon alignment theory keeps coming up is that there are some that line up nicely. The reason it keeps falling down again is that you just can’t get them all to line up without more stretching than a Pilates class.

Does it, though? I remember reading somewhere that Abbaddon was originally the god of water/ice before he was cast out and Grenth took it over. If that is true, I think we have all 6 lining up pretty well:

Zhaitan=Death=Grenth
Mordremoth=Plants=Melandru
Kralkatorrik=Chaos=Lyssa
Primordus=Fire=Balthazar
DeepSeaDragon=Water=Abbaddon

That leaves me with Jormag and Dwayna, and if Jormag is more about cold wind than he is about ice itself, that matches up with Dwayna’s element. Only if the water element part is true, though, but not as much stretching as you first claimed.

I know you can deselect the lower ones, but maybe you can’t quite access higher value ones beyond a certain point. Darn. Well, there goes that theory. Too bad, as it would’ve been a great way to trade gold.

What the heck is NPE?

New Player Experience. It’s a long story, but suffice it to say that a lot of the changes in the September feature pack were… unwelcomed.

Big problem with trying to instance all the Orr missions is that when you enter an instance, it makes a copy of the current map and adds in the monsters (and maybe some barriers that’ll change). If you start cleaning up Orr, at least from a landscape perspective, it’d still be cleaned in the instance. Honestly, this is one of those situations where Orr will never be cleansed properly, just like the Charr-Human treaty will never be formalized as events are tied to it, and it’s part of the Vigil’s storyline. I still say that if you want some demonstrable cleansing of Orr, it’d have to be either an instanced part of the map (only accessable if the PS is complete) or add a new map past the current Orrian ones.

Clicking on the bags helps tremendously fellas. It was just a function that I’d never noticed and never used.

As to what Rognik said on no.2, all I’ve seen is a toggle to arrange items in ascending or descending order. I haven’t seen anything to change displayed price. Thanks for the help.

When you select the item you want, a new window will pop up. This will mostly apply to selling items as I rarely buy them, but it functions pretty close. The pop-up window will have a slider for how many of the item you want to sell, the price per unit you will sell it at, and the two windows below: one for buy orders and one for listed items. For selling, buy orders are on the left, with the highest buy order at the top; on the other side, the lowest listing price is at the top and increases down the list. That 2nd window is what I’m talking about.

If you want to know the lowest selling price is, but don’t want to accidentally list it on the market (for whatever reason), it should be listed in the main window when you seek to buy that item. Could be wrong here, though.

Now to me, 10 gold sounds like a lot, something that isn’t trivial. I know it’s chump change for those who can buy and sell legendaries, but since most usual items are only valued in silver, I think you all are trivializing the value of money.

That said, I think you can use the TP to your advantage here. Take some junk item (say a level 30 axe, or any vendor trash that’s not soulbound), throw it up on the TP for 10 gold. Now, NeedsFoodBadlyJr goes looking for that exact item, the one worth 10 g, and buys it. Sure, you’ll lose transfer fees for doing it that way, and it could be significant at that price, but at least it could be done.

Stop running DirectX 9 in the expansion?

One of the goals of the original GW was o have a fun and good looking game with low specs so more people can play. I think they were either on DX 6 or 7, something even lower than this and still looked pretty great. I doubt we will ever have the DX version upgraded, but I also don’t think there’s much need for it.

Is it confirmed that crafting is max 500?

Jewelry and cooking still need to be raised to 500

Jewelry I can see, but cooking? Food is expensive enough as it is now.

Is it? Unless the food is level 80, or possibly used in another recipe, I can’t give it away on the TP. Raising the cap might not be the answer, but it couldn’t hurt.

Druid shapeshifting

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Rognik.2579

I have a more pragmatic concern for this topic that will probably throw a major wrench in the works… How would a shapeshifter class fit into the design of GW2 mechanically? We already have engineers who can swap kits around to change their 1-5 skills and dramatically alter their combat behavior on the fly. We already have elementalists swapping attunements which change their 1-5 skills to provide a wide array of different rolls and abilities. How does a shapeshifter distinguish themselves from this? Forget for a moment your superficial wishes of becoming a furry creature. Think about this mechanically. What is the point of it in the context of GW2?

Besides, that seems to be what the revenant will be doing. Don’t want to have another class overlap with the unique mechanic, right?
