probably because of “Hobby Dungeon” ?
Why would that be a reason? That’s not a daily reward thing, and once you hit 200 AP from it, you don’t get anything anymore.
You can’t gift either from the gem store. But you can gift the person the gold to buy gems for a character slot, or you could buy a gem card and either mail it to them or give them the code for it.
I never buy transmutation charges. I always get them for map completion things or when I get keys and open Black Lion Chests. And that was how you got them before; map completion (for the normal ones) and Black Lion Chests for both the normal and fine ones.
Go to the character select screen. Click on “World Selection” (bottom left corner). That will bring up the list of worlds. If a world says “Full”, that means it’s full and you won’t be able to transfer to that world.
It was much longer than 3 days.
The time to access a guild’s bank after joining is, indeed, 3 days. It’s not any longer or shorter than 3 days.
You must learn patience Ed Gruberman.
How long will that take?
Boot to the head.
I checked older forum posts and I am guessing that this is a countermeasure against hackers and gold farmers. What I don’t get is that my friend has his account for 2 months now. Shouldn’t he be able to send items as normal?
Has your friend actively PLAYED the game? Not just sat around a city map, playing the TP. Actively leveling, playing in one or more of the game modes, etc.? Playing seems to be the only way you can get rid of the Mail block for new accounts. If he has been playing, he shouldn’t be having any trouble sending or receiving mail. Similarly, if his account isn’t new, he also should have any trouble sending or receiving mail, regardless of the value of its contents.
You are playing the game in a way the devs didn’t intend(if they intended for people to play dungeons with variable number of people they would have given a setting for that) and you are surprised they don’t support it?
If they intended for dungeons to only be doable with five people, they wouldn’t have made a system that allowed for a single player to enter and complete each segment. They may not provide active support for those who solo dungeons and sell paths, but they also have said that they’re not breaking any rules or anything.
How do you finish finish CoF p1 with 1 person?
I am genuinely interested. We were having this discussion the other day while running that path with 4 people(maybe an Engineer with grenades at the right angle or turrets …).
How one would do that, I have no idea. Like the first room in Arah Story, I think you need an actual body on those areas to continue.
its less about instant gratification, then having to bid your way up 1 copper at a time until the sale occurs.
Why do you play the “make my bid 1c higher” game? You’re just helping to make the cost higher when you do that, and you’re also wasting your time. If you really want your item(s) right now, then buy at the Lowest Seller price and be done with it. Otherwise, yes, you will likely be outbid. If you don’t need it right now, then just post a bid, and wait.
As long as he actually has played the game (ie. leveled up, done some portion of map completion, done some personal story, done some pvp, etc.), the restriction will not be there.
It’s because Anet would rather pretend they don’t exist, it seems. I don’t know how true that actually is, but yeah. I’d love to see a Daily Sorrow’s Embrace Path instead of a Daily Fractal + Daily 1-10/11-20/whatever Fractal.
These wings are fugly.
Now I’m imagining Regina George coming to me and telling me that other person’s wings are the ugliest effing wings she’s ever seen.
Besides, the main head of the story dungeon is treated as the main character.
Thanks for reminding me of another thing that bugged me. I am supposed to be the star of the show, not whoever happens to start the instance. Another reason it should be soloable.
You’ll like Living Story then. The characters still have most of the focus, but they can’t do anything without you taking the charge. And they always refer to you as The Boss.
If only we had a telecaster…
I seriously lol’d.
I pretty much never have lag or disconnect. The rare times either one happens, it’s on my end (internet going down or things like that).
Yes, the star gives random junk in exchange for some empyreal fragments. Hardly a big deal if you miss this item.
Random junk in return? not everything you can get is junk there are some useful things you can get.
Crafting materials, Upgrade components, Salvage items, Containers ,Trinkets and Other

Trust me. 98% of it will be random, worthless vendor trash.
You can party with, write mail to, and whisper someone on a different region than you. So, I would imagine you can also add them to your friends list.
Ah sorry I posted my last post as JustTrogdor posted his.
Thats what im worried about, I dont want him to get into trouble for spamming map chat.
Is there anyway he can work it without getting in trouble?
haha it sounds as if its for me, but i only have 1 node in my account lol
There is a difference between posting his offer once and then once again five or ten minutes later and “spamming”. Spamming, which is not allowed/wanted, is the constant reposting of the same thing within a short period of time. There is also nothing in the TOS that says you can’t use the chat system to barter; you simply do so at your own risk as Anet cannot be held responsible for transactions not done via the Trading Post.
There’s nothing wrong with posting that in map chat; it’s just against the rules to post it in the LFG.
Yes. Devs have said they will be back. Every item on sale for Daily sales last week will be back in the future.
I necroed this thread to apologize. I should not have started this thread. I was just frustrated about getting the achievements. It’s not like me to whine and cry like a little baby because something is difficult.
Eventually I will get the achievements and the last piece of glowing armor.
It’s pretty big of you to come back and own up to any whining that may have occurred. You definitely get points from me, for what it’s worth. And you WILL get it done; just keep at it (and seek help from friends or even strangers if you need others to help you get it done).
Hi guys, I recently made a sylvari and was wondering what you guys thought of the look. All compliments / criticism is good so lay it on me.
My only criticism is the scarf, but that’s just because I hate that scarf and how it covers up so much. Otherwise, I really like the look you have going on.
He shouldn’t post the screen shot here, especially if it has names.
If you have their names, you can report them in-game for Scamming. You can also send the screenshots to support along with their names.
Why, exactly, would anybody need to pay somebody to run them through a dungeon? What ever happened to doing research on the dungeon and attempting it, getting better, and then succeeding (if not at first, then eventually)?
The only thing I can come up with is either laziness or a literal inability to play well enough.
Yes, it is a mix of laziness and the convenience of the service being offered. Some people just want fast tokens. So, instead of finding a PUG that may or may not take well over an hour to run a path of Arah, they pay someone a few gold to get their tokens within 10 minutes or so. Or there are people who don’t feel like learning Arah P4 to finish off Dungeon Master, so they might actually pay the exorbitant 20g to get that path out of the way without having to run it.
It’s not against any rules, so I don’t really see anything wrong with it (assuming the sellers are legit sellers who did the path themselves without exploits or kicking others).
Reintroduce them as fractals.
They did already with the Aetherblade fractals and Molten Facility fractals. Honestly, I’d rather them be brought back some other way IF they brought them back, so that I don’t have to play RNG with Fractals.
You can only still do this IF you have the letter.
Nope. You can indeed still finish the quest, but you had to start it during the wintersday event. The letter never did anything more than simply point you to the right spot.
Ah ok. I just assumed that the letter would actually still work. I’ll edit my above post and such.
Good lord. Stop the whining. The wings will be back. You admit you don’t even play that much, so I don’t get why it really even matters if you missed a one day sale.
You can only still do this IF you started it before Wintersday ended. My husband actually finished his up just a few days ago. The chef is still active (moves to a different city location every day), and the NPCs will still show up in your instance if you either started the chain before Wintersday left.

Aside from the Lion’s Arch portals, don’t the hotkeys still work for new players to enter PvP and WvW?
For your first character, I believe you cannot interact with the hotkeys for sPvP and wvw until you reach their unlock levels, even if you go into wvw/pvp through the gates to play. After you’ve unlocked them on your first character (by getting to the right levels), they’re automatically unlocked for any new characters you make.
Hope to see HOT has more than 10 jumping puzzles <3
If you haven’t done the 30 gold badges in SW yet, then let me suggest trying for that achievement. If you like JPs, you will enjoy some of the badge locations immensely. I love JPs and I’ve had to rage quit multiple times lol.
Oooo, what is this?! Time to do some googling. I haven’t been around for awhile, so everything in SW is new to me. I did to the JP there, but haven’t started on the badge collection.
One of them will have you raging at the game and then loving them for it. The other 29 are easier, smaller jumping puzzles.
I think Juggernaut is one of the coolest weapons in the game. It’s metal effect is really unique. So, I’d say go for the hammer.
Guilds have been cross-server (meaning all servers with a chapter of that guild have had those guilds all merged into one) for months now. And your fiance only needs to be on your server to play with your world in wvw. So, you’re kind of freaking out over nothing.
Personal story being as solo as it is, you’re actually directed TO DUNGEONS during it. Dungeon story modes give a lot of exposition you may need in subsequent personal story missions. Read the mails you get from your “herald” about the dungeons the next time you’re leveling a character. The dungeons actually have their place in the progression of the PS, though more an intercession until Arah’s story mode.
Indeed, the Story Dungeons do follow their own separate, but slightly connected to you, story line. However, they’re not technically part of YOUR personal story; they’re the story of Destiny’s Edge coming back together. And while you get your Herald emails telling you about it, you are not directed to go to them as part of your storyline with the giant green swirlies.
I’m not sure what your second screenshot is meant to show. It’s from a completely different time, and you have 20 more gold in it than you do in the previous shot.
As for your issue, your first screen shot shows you sold your silk scraps for 9c a piece. you probably accidentally miss-clicked and sold your silk scraps for 9c a piece instead of the full price. So yeah, it sucks, but you did do the clicking and sold the items.
ah yeah, thanks! <3
No problem.
I just got this 3rd account (yay sale) to do more pvp. I wanted an account for just pvp…. I had no idea I had to get to level 22. Ok…no big deal…. I bought some gems cards. Now I cannot convert gems to gold to power craft to level 22. Does anyone know how long I need to wait until I can use the convert gems to gold on a new account? I have searched forums and wiki. Maybe I missed something obvious. Thanks and apologies if this has been answered many times before now. Cheers!
You don’t have to get to level 22. Go to LA, and go through the gate to Heart of the Mists.
Why are people so averse to doing content that involves other people in a multiplayer game?
Well, the way Anet set up the personal story has it play out as largely solo content. I mean, I think many people did most of (if not all) their PS solo. And then we’re given our final Personal Story, and it’s suddenly content that requires other people. It’s just jarring more than anything else, really.
And yes, this is a multiplayer game, but it could easily just be a solo game. No group content (save Arah Story) is required to progress your own story arc or to even do the Living Story segments.
Thanks for the positive note.
As a side note, I’ve found that previously I would auto-enter the game as soon as I hit the gw2 icon, with auto-log-in enabled. Now, however I actually need to hit “play” to enter the game. Was this a change I missed at some point?
Do you have “Auto-Play” checked on the patcher? If it’s not checked, it won’t auto-play.
It’s rare that all five members of a dungeon will all disconnect at the same time. But yes, if every member of a dungeon leaves the instance (either on purpose or because of a disconnect), the instance is closed, and you’ll have to start over.

Do people not run any dungeons before their personal story? The dungeons are sometimes quite fun, so if one has never grouped up before, they’re missing out. It’s also more fun if you make the group or find one that doesn’t say “ZERK SPEED RUN 80+ LINK AP”, because those people make the run not fun.
I can only speak for myself here, but I didn’t run any dungeons (except for Arah story) for probably the first nine months of the game. It might have been even longer. I have to be in a certain mood to want to do group content, and I have to be in a certain mood to want to do small group content. Plus, I like to feel that I won’t be a liability for a dungeon run, and so I rarely feel up to running one on a class I’m still trying to get the hang of. So, even now after having run dungeons tons of times and gotten dungeon master (by actually doing the paths, too), I still will usually not do dungeons while leveling new characters.
Actually, when you click on the door, you get a choice between the dungeon and the personal story. If it says anywhere that you need 5 people for the personal story then I didn’t see it.
It does say it. Here’s what you see when you go to Arah for the first time. You can only choose the Story mode of the dungeon (there is no Personal Story option; it’s just Story), and above it says it’s a group thing.
I click on the door, choose “personal story”, and then, after a half hour where I said a lot of very unprintable things about the writers, the devs, and Anet’s game design skills in general I went to the Wiki for guidance.
The last mission in your PERSONAL story is group-only. Best of all, Anet doesn’t tell you this. Instead of saying, “Hey, we know you’ve been able to solo EVERY part of this quest line up to now, but here we’re going to saddle you with a bunch of brain-dead NPCs and make you get a group too”, they just let you blithely pop in so that you can wonder what idiot was in charge of a battle where several elites keep respawning every time you manage to kill them.
When you enter a dungeon, which is what Arah Story is, it tells you “recommended players: 5”. Now, I’m not saying I agree with their decision to make the PS end in a dungeon that requires five people (or at least two people, if both people know what to do); I hated the fact that I had to suddenly do a dungeon back when I first finished the PS. But it does warn you before you enter that it’s group content. And, for the record, the dungeon is pretty easy and, with the right group, can almost be enjoyable.
And LS is honestly very different from the PS. It’s set up a lot better, and ALL of it can be soloed (no group content required). But if you don’t want to try it, that’s obviously your right to feel that way.
It’ll die down, just like all fads do.
Yeah, one of the hairstyle/makeover kit exclusive hairstyles with the wreath of cooperation.
No no no. Please GOD no. This sounds a lot like a certain feature in “that other mmo”, and is the single biggest contributing factor to me being here now. I just bought GW2 this past Saturday and so far I love it. Fortunately, another company got to own that disaster, but I think GW2 is just fine without it.
You mean like GW1, where you had henchmen and (later) heroes (who had dialogue and were often parts of the story as you went along) that you controlled and could add to your party for any non-solo pve content?
But yeah, I sometimes miss having heroes and such, but I think Anet wants GW2 to actually have players interact and party with other players more so than trying to solo through lots of things. I don’t know if we’ll ever see something like it in GW2.
Yay, grats!
My friend got bored at level 7 of there being nothing but grinding on mobs, pressing the same 4 buttons. So we quit out of the senseless boring low-level grind. I bought a load of mats and helped them craft-grind to lvl 18.
. . .
Locked things:
Dodging (by virtue of not telling players about it for ~6 levels)
Underwater Combat (note for Asura this unlocks long after the quest that used to get you to use it)
(Guilds?)
Skills
Skill Points and Challenges
Vistas
Traits
Trading Post
Crafting
WvW
PvP
If you’ve played this game before, you should have known better than to let your friend try to level by simply grinding out mobs. Map completion, hearts, and such are all what get you most of your levels. He could also have already gone into wvw and spvp, via the asura gates in Lion’s Arch.
And of the list you posted, the only things you can’t do from level 2 are use traits (which you couldn’t use at level 2 before the NPE went in anyway), interact with skill points (I believe you unlock that at level 8 on your first character, which unlocks it for all future characters), and see vistas (map completion icons appear around level 5). Underwater combat isn’t introduced until level 8, but you can do it before then by getting yourself an underwater weapon (which you can do in wvw or spvp).
Now, is the NPE wonderful? Definitely not. But your friend was also going about playing in the “wrong” way if he was wanting to level efficiently.
