You’re not forced to play pvp or wvw. I very, very rarely do the wvw dailies (and never do the pvp) ones, yet, I finish my Daily Completion achievement every single day.
I mean, what was today’s? Daily fractal (just one fractal; roll a level 1 starter fractal, and it’s easy). Maguuma miner, which is also easy (and could be done in someone’s home instance, if you have any friends/guildies with mining nodes in their home instances). Daily Shadow Behemoth (also very easy). And daily Harathi Hinterlands event completer; you can knock that out by doing Modniir centaur world boss event.

I really enjoy the outfits and will often use them while leveling characters so they don’t look like complete crap (and so I don’t have to either constantly wear my heritage armor or waste transmutation charges). That being said, I’d very happily welcome more full armor skin sets, especially if they look great.
I have a character in every class, except guardian, which I really dislike. My necromancer minion master is by far the tankiest. I have to really get in over my head or just go afk to die. My necromancer wears cleric armor and has cleric weapons, and I use staff. I let my minions do most of the damage. It only takes an extra few seconds to kill the enemy. On really tough fights, the warrior(for example), will die and be doing zero dps, while my necromancer will live and gets the job done. When I play my necromancer, I feel immortal.
Unfortunately, minions have crappy AI. So, for every good fight where fleshy and his friends are taking out the mob you’re attacking, there will be at least one fight where they kind of stand there staring at you. Thus, I just can’t and don’t rely on minions right now (if their AI gets a change for the better, I’d love to try out MM again) and instead make myself do the damage.
It bothers me that some players with limited co-ordination aren’t able to get all the vistas, and thus world completion, because they’re behind jumping puzzles. Most of them involve climbing, and that can be done by anyone with time and patience, but a few of them involve making long leaps that not everyone has the motor control to pull off.
Anyway has Josh thought about a jumping puzzle that involves sliding down slopes to land jumps
Sliding down slopes. Sounds like a good way for us all to end up dead from that gravity/fall bug that happens with a surface with any sort of incline.
5 random drops for me, from cursed shore over the last 3 months or so. From boss events & mobs.
They dont exist as random drops. Dont lie.
Not a lie, check your facts before making accusations. You can obtain them from heavy moldy bags.
I think he thought you meant direct drops from mobs, not contents of bags.
Mobs drop moldy bags, as in risen, individual or groups. So they do drop from them directly.
Yeah, that’s not a direct drop.
What Khisanth said. After I played with it, it does indeed work until you get into combat (both for Healing Surge and Signet of Fury); once you’re in combat, it goes back to normal.
You’re welcome!
Yeah, I was also annoyed by it when I first found that out. It never made sense to me that I could (and did) do everything else solo, but my final step HAD to be a group.
At least the dungeon isn’t difficult or anything. The hardest part, sadly, is finding a group for it.
You can do every dungeon in the same gear set up. The only thing that may require a different set-up (ie. more survivability) is high level fractals. And yes, the meta for dungeons/pve is berserker. WvW can be whatever works best for you as a player. If you want to, instead of having a complete second set of armor, you could work on getting two sets of trinkets. Have one set for when you do dungeons (berserker), and then have another for wvw (something to give you more survivability, such as knight or valkyrie or something). And you could maybe have two of the weapon you use most, one with stats and sigils for one thing and one with stats and sigils for another.
My point is you don’t HAVE to have a full set for everything you do; you can simply adjust little bits to make it easier.
That’s not your story journal. That’s your achievements tab. Click on the star icon two above the Achievements icon; that’s your Story Journal, and that should be where you can buy the episodes.
You think that one was hard? Try out Skipping Stones and the Aetherblade JP.
I’ve named that NPC “Jeffrey”. Anytime I accidentally interact with him instead of the bank, I sigh “Oh, Jeffrey”. Curse you, Jeffrey!
You’d have to contact support.
As Guardian said, if there were a virus inside the download files for the game, there would be more than just one post on the forums about it (especially since there was a big influx of new players/accounts in the past month or two due to the discount).
Did you actually download the client from the official website?
I’d go war. It’s easier in spvp…significantly. War also has swiftness (perma) for mapping that doesn’t put you in combat+sword leap gs dash ww to make it even faster. I find necro’s aoe to not hit hard and fast enough for decent farming. Besides why would you use anything to farm pve other than loot stick? Idk, Ive done 100% mapping on 7 professions and am on 70 something with my 8th my necro…there’s a good reason I left it to last. I am very much hoping GS with the expansion changes things for my nec.
Conversely, my necro was my first character I got to 80, my first character (and one of the easiest, for me) to get 100% map completion, and remains my “main” character (even after now having 12 characters). Plus, necros have a speed signet (constant +25% movement speed) and spectral walk (which gives you swiftness for 30 seconds), neither of which put you in combat.
Different people like different things.
(edited by RoseofGilead.8907)
Awesome! Any particular reasons you prefer Necro over Warrior in PvP?
I’m terrible at pvp, so I’m probably the wrong person to ask. But what I like about it are the constant conditions I’m putting on others, my second health bar (Death Shroud), and the downed state options you have as a necro.
If you’re planning on farming, I’d choose necro over warrior any day; you have a much easier time tagging mobs with a necro, since you have multiple wells, marks, and other AOEs with short cooldowns. And a necro isn’t underpowered at all as long as you’re set up to do direct damage rather than condition-only damage (for pve, anyway). I’d also personally choose necro over warrior for pvp, but different people like different things.
I agree that at least one other stability option would be nice. But there is a trait that gives you 3 seconds of stability upon entering Death Shroud; unfortunately, that stability doesn’t break a stun, but it’s still useful (more useful than the stabilities on Plague and Lich Form, anyway).
Probably won’t ever happen.
1. It can only revive so many people (I think the max is five?).
2. If someone moves out of range, they won’t be revived.
3. If they’re out of the banners AOE radius (which is less than 600), they won’t be revived.
4. If they die before it lands, obviously they won’t be revived.
Lastly, sometimes the person(s) you’re trying to revive will take too much damage to be able to be pulled up with Battle Standard (such as in high level fractals).
You have to account bind or destroy an item before it can be added to a collection. So, either equip it on a character, right click and choose “Unlock skin”, or salvage it.
Sadly, no, they won’t reinstate a deleted guild; it’s gone. :\
Try playing with your graphics settings at the lowest setting. If I play with medium or high graphics at this fight I’ll dc when in the Zerg.
This. I always have my settings set for “best performance” during things like Tequatl because I don’t want to risk a crash.
revenant
[ ?rev??näN, -n?nt ]
NOUN
a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead. Source the Oxford Dictionary.
Note how the “especially supposedly from the dead” is part of the definition. The definition is not “a person who has returned from the dead”; it is that a person has returned from an absence, SUPPOSEDLY after being dead. On top of referring to someone coming back after being gone a long time, the word is used in reference to something or someone that is reborn, physically or spiritually. It’s also used to refer to certain types of zombies.
And the word comes from the French word revenir, which means “coming back”.

You could report the player to support, but there won’t be much they can/will do.
As for my favorite, I thought the Order of Whispers is pretty kitten impressive though not because I have Tybalt by my side. It’s for the first few missions from my asura and Agent Batanga as well as the mission with my sylvari and Cai (the one where she would hallucinate about the oozes and stuff) and the one involving letting Demmi escape.
I agree with you there. Batanga and Cai were pretty neat NPCs.
Edit: Although, I think my favorite (and most useful) NPCs from the entire game are the Pale Reavers. OP sylvari are OP.
What if I’m not quite dead yet….and I feel happy?
You’ll be stone dead in a moment.
Here are some differences between the two games I think are worth mentioning;
1: In GW1 you could only have two ppl in a party (not counting henchmen or pets) where in GW2, you can have five.
2. In GW1 you can only rez fallen party members with a resurrection signet and, unless you get a morale boost, you can only use the signet once.* GW2, however, does not require a signet to revive players and you can do it as many times as you want.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that playing GW1 really makes me appreciate what I have in GW2, flaws and all.
*unless that changes after pre-searing.
You clearly never played much of the actual game (just did pre-searing). You can have as many other players in your party as the current area allows (ie. if the area allows four party members, you and three other players can party up). You have access to other resurrection spells, some of which don’t rely on a morale boost to recharge.
It helps to actually play more than the very beginning of the first campaign before trying to weigh the pros and cons of a game.
If there is a boss to fight, the chest in some JP will show as opened until the boss appears and is defeated. At that point the chest can be looted during the next couple of minutes by anyone who comes along, and then shows as opened until the next time he respawns. If you’re seeing an opened chest on a puzzle you haven’t done in a while, you have to wait around for the boss to show up and then beat him. No freebies while the boss is down.
The one I’m talking about has no bosses. It’s in LA, so there are no mobs to fight. The chest is apparently just . . . weird.
I don’t get where anyone would think a revenant must be undead. If you die, your soul goes into the Mists, but your body remains behind. Revenants, however, have not died but have gone into the Mists as living beings, taking their body with them and returning with it. Rytlock didn’t die. He took a portal into the Mists, just as we did several times in GW1 (Underworld, FoW, Realm of Torment) and do regularly in WvW. We are ALL living “revenants” (strict definition) in that we have visited the land of death and returned, but we aren’t “Revenants” (profession name) because we haven’t learned the skills that Rytlock learned.
Yup, that’s what I was going to say.
They do indeed drop from mobs, but they drop even less often than precursors do. The best way to get keys (without buying from the gem store) is to do map completion. You have a chance of either a transmutation charge or a key for every map completed (with the exception of cultural city maps, which only give you the trans charge). Other than that, there is personal story. You get one after finishing the level 10, 40, and 60 personal stories. And I believe one of the Living Story 2 chapters gives you a key (the Labyrinth one, maybe)?
I prefer the Whispers one, mostly. I love Tybalt. But I also love the rite you undergo after Claw Island with the priory, where you become imbued with Balthazar’s powers or whatever and completely nuke all the risen.
No, you can’t send gems to people or “gift” a server transfer. You CAN send them gold, or you can buy them a gem card (sold at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.).
Did you purchase the game online? If so, you should have an email (sent to your login email). Go check your email.
If you bought a physical copy, the code would be on the packaging, I’d imagine.
If there is no email and no code on the packaging, you’ll have to contact support. https://help.guildwars2.com/home
Pristine Relics are not in the account wallet; they’re actual items you have to take out of your bank and into Fractals (unless they’ve changed that in the past couple of months). So, go look in your bank, and check all of your alts’ inventories. If you still don’t see them, then contact CS.
Posting to fix the broken forum.
1. Being more specific would be helpful. Which vistas? What’s broken about them?
2. There is support. https://help.guildwars2.com/home
And yet sometimes I go to a jumping puzzle that I haven’t completed in weeks or even months and the chest is already open >.< and no, I’m not parking characters at them.
Yeah, the pirate JP in LA is that way for me. Anytime I go to it, the chest is open, and I can’t loot it. So, I just never do it anymore.
Most JPs have around a 24 hour timer. So, if you do, for example, the Silverwastes JP an hour after reset, you’ll have to wait until one hour after reset the following day to open the chest again.
Griffonrook Run jumping puzzle, after a deadly jump and special traits for falling damage.
If you want this topic to live longer, please, keep it less hardcore.Making a jump in an easy-to-recognize jumping puzzle is hardcore? Yikes.
The jump in question was an extremely out there jump that I also died three times getting to. :p
out. He enjoyed the concepts of the characters, but there is no point in playing a Necromancer if the meta says: “Only condition necro works” and he hates Condition characters.
If a “burst” necro is viable, then I’m sure the choice will be really related to roleplaying, not only mechanics, for example. I know Elementalist can be built in both burst and condition, for example… But there is no point in playing a Condition elementalist if EVERY condition necro will be better then that Condition elementalist.
“Meta” for everyone in pve is berserker, which means very little emphasis on conditions. I main a necro, and I run a zerker/DeathShroud build with next-to-no condition reliance. However, in pvp, condi is really a great way to go for a necro.
And indeed, there is very little point in going condi for elementalist because necros and engis will always do that better. At least that’s my opinion on a condi ele, anyway.
But, really, your friend will just have to play with the classes to see what he actually likes and doesn’t like.
If my submission is too vague, let me know. But I think people can easily figure it out; a revive orb will be needed, though.
Edit: Darn! Beat by one minute!

Around 3k. That’s about how much legendaries cost.
I don’t know. When I make a legendary, it’s partially for the skin, but it’s also largely because it’s…
1. Highest level stats (tied with ascended)
2. Account bound
3. Lets me change the stat combo anytime I want (outside of combat)
So, I don’t consider the amount of gold I spent making my legendaries to be what I’d pay for just a skin.
The Charr were kind of there first. The humans came along to Tyria with the Gods and kicked the Charr from their own lands, renaming the area they stole as Ascalon.
Don’t be silly…. animals cannot own land. You cannot steal something from Charr, they have about same rights to any land as deer or pigeons.
Does kitty cat have to choke a human?
Lorgus brings up a good point. I mean, you can still easily survive in blues/greens, but they need to be within 10 levels of your character level. So, if you’re on a level 80 with level 65 greens/blues, no trinkets, and no traits . . . yeah, you’ll probably die a lot.
Thanks for the clarification!
I’d also encourage your friend to try out each of the three caster classes (elementalist, mesmer, and necro). Out of the three, elementalist is indeed the highest damage (of course when traited and geared for damage) and the biggest burst damage. But mesmer and even necro can do high damage, with or without a condition set-up, with the right gear/builds. Each of the three also have their own unique uses in each of the game modes. That being said, the meta for most group PvE content calls for close-up combat (and stacking on the boss) and berserker/high damage gear and builds. So, standing in the background with a staff wouldn’t be the best for that. It’s also just not good to box yourself into only using one weapon and one attunement (in the case of elementalists, anyway) for all aspects of the game.
So yeah, I’d recommend he pick one to mess with, level it for a while, take it in pvp/wvw. Then do the same with the other two.
Edit: Also, even though it’s a heavy class, your friend might want to check out guardian. Lots of control and support go with that class, and it has some definite caster/“scholar” ways of playing with its utility skills and such.

This. One group I was in had one guy insisting on having one person getting the pheromone from the plant in the corner, even though we kept telling him that a random person will get the buff every so often. That was a “fun” run.
he’s not wrong. there is a plant which gives pheromone. If the group is clueless it’s a good idea that some experienced person just grab the pheromone every time in case that random person dont’ know what to do.
True. But this was a case of a group of guildies who had done the path a couple of times before and knew what to do if they got the pheromone (which everyone does at some point because the pheromone gets placed at players even if someone is going to the plant). So, he basically was just running back and forth (and often getting downed) for no reason. :\

Although it would be a late addition and risks alienating the in game spore events, I’d prob buy one
Those events pretty much never get done now anyway.
