Reinstalling now, just chilling on the forums til it installs. At launch NPC’s would get stronger based on the number of people fighting them. They has massive scaling issues to the point where even starter NPC’s would 1 shot you with basic attacks if you did not dodge, and you can’t dodge every attack since they attack faster then you’re energy refills.
I almost rage quit vs one quest boss in the lvl 10-15 zone that would do an instant stun followed by a huge AoE circle attack, that would do 20k+ dmg a second. There was nothing you could do about it because there were at least 40 people all downed around him and the bodys just kept piling up.
Well, the case you referenced sounds like a bug in the scaling. I’ve seen a case of something that bad maybe three or four times, and they were all fixed quickly. Many mobs still scale up based on the number of people around (especially in the case of bosses), but it’s usually nothing insane like that. But you do still have to actively avoid certain attacks and use your skills to your advantage (stability to get out of a field that stuns you, an invul to avoid a massive hit that you can’t dodge, aegis for when you can’t dodge, etc.).
Dungeon weapons are definitely a good way to forge, since you’re not wasting gold. Doubly good if you’re able to use your PvP rewards for it. Congratulations on your first precursor!
I’ve bought them a few times on low level characters when I didn’t have the time to wait for a particular weapon type to drop. Plenty of others have done the same.
WvW is what you want it to be. If you join up with the zerg (especially on top tier servers), then yes, you’re going to be blobbing. If you choose to roam solo or in small groups, then you’ll be doing something different.
I don’t PvP, so I can’t comment here.
As for PvE:
If someone is dying to mobs in two or three hits, they should probably learn the mechanics of the game, especially the mechanic of dodging. There are also invul and evade skills, reflects, retaliation, etc. And as for counter play, there are definitely forms of it (reflect, retaliation, CC skills).
I’m not sure what you mean by slow traveling. Do you mean running speeds? If so, nope, that hasn’t changed; mesmers especially suffer from a lack of running speed options.
Elites are pretty much the same. Lots are useless. Some are good.
But you could always log into the game and give it a try yourself. If things aren’t to your liking still, then continue avoiding the game. Obviously, there is an expansion pack in the works, with a new class and changes to certain mechanics in the game.

There is one other exception that the Wiki doesn’t note. The new loot bags that you obtain from Living Story Season 2 instances operate similarly to the Structured PvP loot bags, simulating a number of rolls on the loot tables of certain creature types. As such, Magic Find will affect those as well.
Basically, if you open a bag and get junk items like Sprockets or Globs of Gooey Goop, then that’s a bag that Magic Find effects.
Is there any dev statement or proof of this, or is it just speculation?
No problem. I actually looked it up myself some time back because I also loved it and wanted to know which one it was.
RNG is RNG. I’ve not noticed anything different.
No, there’s no “bank” to put gold in anymore. It stays in your wallet. You can put it in a guild bank, but I wouldn’t do that unless you have a private guild where you’re the only member.
MF does not affect the contents of bags, including champ bags. But the Twiser in a Jar only drops from the bandit chests and buried chests (in SW and Dry Top, respectively), not from your champ bags. MF from the Perseverance buff in SW DOES affect bandit chests.
I had the same bug when I did this last week, but it fixed itself. As I was escorting Efut, she got snared by the invulnerable risen. I ran up ahead to the vigil keep and killed everything there to see if anything happened. Nothing happened. So, I ran back down to where she was, and then I continued to the bone wall. By the time I’d reached the bone wall, the mobs were vulnerable. I was able to kill the mobs and continue with the mission.
You can no longer craft underwater weapons that are below level 8. So, any low level tridents, spears, or harpoon guns are unable to be crafted until you’re able to craft weapons above level 8.
There are no Strong Green Inscriptions; there’s Mighty Green Inscription.
Have you checked the Production tab and searched for “Mighty Green Inscription” there to see if you HAVE discovered things using that inscription?
Is it this one?
- I’m a 30 year-old woman.
- My husband and I both play GW1 and GW2 together, both also being in the same guild together.
- We have two kids, and I’m a stay-at-home mom.
- I live in Texas, but I’m originally from the southeastern US.
- I’m a classically trained soprano who loves performing choral music (especially madrigals and motets).
- I love to bake, and cookies are the best thing ever.
- I hate green peas and raisins.
- I love animals; we have a beagle, two kitties, and two fish.
- One of my favorite things to do is watch Buffy and Firefly reruns while I’m playing video games.

You need gold to make gold. So no, not all of it.
But most of my gold, yea, I did that. You only need gold to make gold if you play the trading post. Regular players dont need gold to make gold.
You need at least some gold to waypoint around the world to quickly make gold. Obviously it’s free to get to LA, the major cities, Fort Trinity (once you finish story), and the starting zones. But beyond that, you’d have to either waypoint or waste a lot of time running.
Plus, you’d need gold to sell any good drops you got while playing.
It is far from “completely unplayable”. I still play GW1, and the only time I ever have that stuttering is if I alt-tab to another window. And it goes away after a couple of minutes. My husband doesn’t ever have the stuttering. None of my guildie friends have complained of it, either.
That’s not what phishing is. Maybe you meant to use the word “trolling” or “scamming”. And there’s nothing you can do other than what you already did (report them in-game). If you have any screen shots, you could put in a support ticket about the players who did this.
One of the ley line weapons.
Once you reach level 80, you’ll be able to buy the exotic gear from that vendor. It’ll be its own tab, I believe. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to salvage those, so any runes you put in them will be staying in them.
What Red Queen said. Immobilized is a condition and can only be removed by a condi removal skill.
And nobody here has actually said their mesmer has been complained at for not making a portal, and i have never seen it either, so those arguments are null
I said that it happened to me back on the first page, actually. And I’ve also seen mesmers being berated in map chat for not dropping portals for JPs or Rhendak before.
I don’t see the point in keeping some gold in reserve. What’s the use of currency you won’t spend? This isn’t like real life where you might have an unexpected bill come through, or the boiler breaks down and needs to be repaired. There are very few things that cost gold and are essential to keep playing, pretty much just salvage kits, waypoints if you consider them essential and TP fees to get more gold. Everything else can wait until you’ve saved up again.
The only people I can see who might want a reserve stash of gold are TP flippers who might unexpectedly find something selling for below the normal price, meaning they’ll want to buy it ASAP before the price goes back up.
I’m not a TP flipper. I keep gold in reserve because I’m the type of person always going “what if?”. What if an awesome new skin goes on the gem store in two weeks? What if I get tired of the runes I have now and want to get a different set? What if I decide to take on some new crafting venture? Thus, I couldn’t ever make myself spend ALL of my gold on one thing.
so i bought this game comming from a f2p type MMO with the expectation that i would not NEED so spend RL money on it .. as in CS items .. but yet by lvl 70 i only have 5 gold … why on earth would a bought game act as a free to play game ? (and yes i get it * to make money*) but this is no excuse !!
Please name one thing on the gemstore that is NEEDED (and only obtained with gems) to play this game effectively.
You do not NEED armour. It is fully possible to play the game without it.
Indeed, I have personally killed Tequatl with everyone using nothing except weapons.
Naked Tequatl runs ftw.
Ignore the jerks, and do the events you want to do. Call out in map chat that the event is up, and more players will come. If anyone gets particularly rude, then report them for verbal abuse and block.
As for your second issue, once you learn the spawns for events (like everyone else), it’ll be easier for you to tag them. But yes, I agree that the normal mobs during big events like that need to be scaled up more, particularly during the Grenth event where you defend Jonez from all the waves. I don’t know why it and Gates of Arah aren’t already adjusted that way. Lyssa spawns champs and vets galore if there are a lot of people there. Even the first part of the Dwayna chain (Historian Vermoth escort) gets hard-hitting champs and vets with enough people.
This guy understands minimum wage law.
A lot of people think servers who get $2/hr don’t get minimum wage. They legally have to. Most of the time tips will get them there, but if it is a particularly slow restaurant and they don’t, then the restaurant has to make up the difference so they hit minimum wage.
If you are a server and you aren’t making minimum wage for your hours worked (after you factor in your tips), then you need to complain to your manager, because that is illegal.
Yes, they’re legally obligated to do it. Do they do it? Definitely not all the time (or even the majority of the time, I’d be willing to bet). And if employees complain to the manager, the employees run the very real risk of being fired (which no one would really bat an eyelash about because of the high turnover in the food service industry). It’s just like cases of employers firing women on the basis of their getting pregnant or an employer refusing to hire someone because of their sexuality or race or gender; it’s illegal, but it happens all the time.
I don’t find it offensive at all for mesmers to say “tips are appreciated” or something along those lines. It’s when I see the occasional “don’t use my portals if you’re not going to tip” (or similar things) that I get bothered. Plus, these are pixels on a video game being played for fun, not a job; compensation is nice, but it shouldn’t be seen as a requirement.
I agree that they should be added to the wallet. But in case you weren’t aware, you can leave geodes and bandit crests in your bank and still be able to purchase items from those vendors.
Think of it as working in the service industry. Some places, such as restaurants (at least in the US) tipping is a social obligation. People accept and understand that you should tip your server, and generally do. However, some professions in service are often overlooked as far as tips. It doesn’t mean that they don’t want them, or need them. But such a gesture is greatly appreciated.
I think the OPs point is, if someone is doing you a service (porting you to the end of a JP) proper etiquette would demand that a small token of your appreciation be given. It’s not hurting anyone, and it shows that you are grateful. Sure you could not tip, but it does reflect upon you as a person. Just like if you go to a restaurant and don’t leave a tip, what kind of person does that make you appear? Servers will remember you, and next time you come in, you will get the worst possible service. They will also remember if you do tip, and even more so if you tip generously, resulting in the best possible service, and sometimes some extra goodies.
Yeah, except the servers NEED tips to meet minimum wage (at least in a majority of states/regions of the US). A mesmer dropping a portal after they already finished the JP (or after they logged onto a character that’s permanently parked at a chest) and got their reward is hardly the same thing as working a job that doesn’t pay minimum wage and assumes your tips will make up the difference. If a mesmer in GW2 doesn’t get a tip for portaling someone, they can still play the game the exact same way they would if the person had given them 10s or whatever.
Except that anywhere that pays servers under minimum wage and expects tips to make up the amount is legally requires to pay the server more if the tips do not bring them up to minimum wage, so until the tips bring the server over minimum wage, you are “tipping” the establishment and not the worker. But that’s totes off topic.
As someone who has worked at a restaurant that refused to do that, I can tell you that this does not always happen, despite the owners being “legally required” to do it. But indeed, it’s off topic.

Because I do not do PvP nor WvW and the last time I went into the Mist’s… to get my wolf companion, I was viciously attacked. All I wanted was the wolf, I didn’t want to fight. After 2 defeats, in which I did not even fight back and my pet was on heel – (to those who attacked me, I hope you found me satisfactorily challenging >_>,) – I finally shouted that I was there for the wolf only and that I had no intentions of fighting back if attacked. I got my wolf, but I really do not relish the thought of trying to get map completion in those area’s with so many viciously kill-happy people in the area’s. I know that is what those area’s are for, but seriously… pummel a non-violent person who doesn’t even defend themself… how is that either challenging or sporting? I mean, really? It’s like sicking my wolf on a mouse.
Seriously…
The other teams won’t see what you’re saying in chat, even in Say chat. You’d have to whisper an enemy player for them to know what you’re saying.
And yes, this will happen sometimes. It can be frustrating, but if you’re careful you can usually avoid getting jumped. And as others have suggested, joining up with your server’s groups on busy nights (especially on wvw reset nights) would probably be a good way to get a bunch of completion done.
I, too, enjoy ragequitting activities when I don’t understand how they work.
With that said, it’s more than a little annoying when a person doesn’t even bother trying to do the JP but sits at the point where you can jump down to (or the WP) and EXPECTS (sometimes loudly, and with worse-than-acceptable language) a port just because you are on your mesmer. Just like I am not entitled to the donation, you are not entitled to getting a port after I dumped 10+ minutes on the JP.
I’ve luckily only had someone do that to me once, right after I got to the chest for the aether JP. I stood there for a minute or two checking my loot and chatting in guild chat, and then I notice someone standing below said “hey dumb*** im waiting”. I told them I didn’t have portal unlocked and went back to chatting.
Yes, wave goodbye to the Condimancer who also has easy access to boon strips that would remove Resistance if he plays properly. Wave goodbye to him and laugh!
Ok, I will wave goodbye I know it has boon strip but only 1 in the trait line “path of corruption” big whoop (any good player can didge that) also you will have to sacrifice utility skills to take up wells to convert boons to condi (most condimancer don’t even use wells), I get we have corrupt boons but the sheer number of condi duration
We have the one well, focus 5, Path of Corruption, and corrupt boon. I think you’re making a big deal out of nothing.
Edit: Oh, forgot about Grim Specter, in case someone uses that Elite. And Unholy Feast (axe 3).
People are obviously free to request tips, but no one should feel obligated to tip the person. I port people to the aether JP and other various ones, and I don’t ever expect (or even think about getting) a tip because I’m just doing it to be nice after I’ve already received my own reward from the JP. The only times I’ve tipped others for a portal are when I’ve gotten ports to the Obsidian Sanctum JP because of the amount of time it can take to finish that one.
The important thing to remember (They even said it in the article) is that resistance is an effect that already exists in the game, by making it a boon they’re making it strippable and counterable.
This is a nerf to the effect, which makes them able to make it more common.
This.
So borderline pay to win.
lolno. You don’t need 8 bag slots on every character, or even on one character, to win anything. It’s “pay to hoard”.
Pay to hoard? Or pay for convenience. So what do you do instead? trash every item you can’t fit? waste time very 5 seconds you’re in a dungeon selling the loot, so often than you cant run the dungeon?
I go and sell my greens and blues and salvageable items (the ones I haven’t already broken down for mats) and junk after every two paths (or three sometimes). I pretty much never have a case where my inventory is full and unable to take anything else because I take 10 seconds to go to the vendor nearest to the dungeon I’m doing. In the very, very rare cases where I do get a full inventory, I mail stuff to a friend and have them return to sender.
What I do works just fine, and I’m not wasting any time as far as I’m concerned. If hoarding every item until you can’t deposit anything else works for you, then go ahead and do it; play how you want to play. But no one NEEDS 8 bag slots to “win” anything in this game or to play in an enjoyable (and lucrative) fashion.

Well, I went through most of the LS chapters on most of my level 80s. The ones I had the easiest time with personally were my necro and warrior; I did the achievements on my necro, I believe, since there was far less of a chance of her getting boons to transfer. Mesmer is sadly kind of bad for that instance because clones and phantasms immediately die in that big aoe during certain portions. Ranger would be a decent choice.
Hm. Well, when my husband and I did this together, we were both able to get it at the same time; we were both interacting with the vortex crystals, though. So, it could be a case where you have to do the vortex crystals (or at least one or two of them) yourself to get the credit. Some other LS achievements work that way. Were you the instance owner each time? If so, maybe try having one of your friends be the instance owner to see if you get it? If that still doesn’t work, you might have to go unlock achievements on another character without the boon problem. :\
To be honest: not rereleasing S1 before Hot would be a massive failure.
HoT will bring new people to the game.
Anet HAS to make sure all pre HoT content is up to date and playable.
That includes the Orr story arcs and S1.If they dont the game will look like kitten before people get to the HoT content and might actually drive people away.
I don’t see how Anet could put in Season 1, with all of its impact and content, for replay without turning portions of it into raid content. Some of it could easily be put back in with the typical Season 2 set up, but other parts couldn’t be.
The first major part of the Scarlet story was Flame and Frost, the dungeon from that now being two fractals already in the game. There was all the Aetherblade stuff, which is also now two fractals. Then there’s the zephyr sanctum and the election. Portions could be instanced, but it’s largely just not content worth repeating. The worldwide invasions of Scarlet’s army were also huge multiplayer content. The aetherpath of TA is currently already in place, obviously.
Then you have Escape from LA, which was all hugely multiplayer across the entire map of LA. The final battle(s) of the season were two large scale, multi-player events (each with three groups of at least 20 players). I don’t know how Anet could just make that a replayable solo thing.
Now, some things could be easily put back in as they were: Queen’s Jubilee/Clockwork Chaos solo instances, like the Funhouse, the Southsun Canach instances, Dragon Bash/Sky Pirates instances, etc.
So yeah, I don’t think it’s going to be all that easy to try to make Season 1 a replayable thing like it is for Season 2; if it happens, it’ll probably be a combination of different types of content (like it kind of already is).
Is it possibly something they changed after launch, that character is from around launch day, and the change didn’t take effect until I changed the hair color?
Nope, there’s not been any change. As was indicated above, certain areas are perpetually in “night time”; so, you could have just been in night places and not realized it.
Well, first of all, you’re supposed to use the vortex crystals so you don’t spend an hour in there ticking away at the boss. Secondly, the color buff doesn’t factor into Exposed Weakness: Redux; the only boons that matter are the standard boons (aegis, swiftness, might, fury, etc.). So, you and whoever you’re with just need to make sure you don’t have a boon on you (other than the one you get from the lights) when you go to the vortex crystal.
And, in case you didn’t know, there are motes next to the bosses so you don’t have to repeat the entire instance again if you mess up an achievement.
RNG is RNG. Nothing more; nothing less.
The glow has always been exclusive to nighttime, as far as I know.
If you need direct help, you should put in a support ticket and/or post your issue over in Account and Technical Support.
Did you talk to the crafting NPC to be “trained” to become an Artificer? You have to do that before you can start crafting.
They already got the boot order, Riku. They didn’t know that the boot order only unlocked the boots at the vendor.
