I like to think of it at a lack of exposure. There have often been those little things, even some larger things that were great, sometimes you couldn’t be sure if they listened or if it was in the works all along.

A different kind of example for me is their twitch channel. A lot of work that I am not sure is seen much.

That’s a bit of a misinterpretation and they have said quite a few times now that this is not the case. Even from browsing the forums I can see that that is not the case.

Maybe it’s not popular to give a “warning”, but it’s more than fair in my eyes. As far as the rules go nothing has changed, you weren’t supposed to insult staff or anyone for that matter before and that is pretty much standard across all boards I’ve ever been on.

Sorry I just felt it’s worth pointing that out, I’m glad you feel optimistic about the future. I thought something similar seeing that there is no NDA for the new GvG map (I believe that’s the right term).

I think the point would be that it is not a “new” event. People do like the idea of reoccurring festivals and a certain sense of stability as well. For my personal taste it is simply starting to tip too much into the other direction.

Scarcity is good – well that may be, again this can be overdone as well. I’m not sure how a title effects the economy, so there is no reason there. Why change the crafting requirements if scarcity is good?

Well, I guess this is the essence of the title – where to draw the line and we all will draw them somewhere else.

I agree with you Zylonite. It’s not friendly towards new players. It’s not even a “Living Story”, it’s a recurring festival! And the achievements are not recurring? Way to go… Really sad.

There’s already enough temporary stuff/achievements and currently no way to go back to do them. I hate to say this but : you’ve gone the wrong way with this.

I seriously hope it was a mistake and that an hotfix will enable past achievements.

Can’t agree more, distinguish between living story and festivals. Would have wanted to get the backpiece with another character – but heh, it’s scarce, rare.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but on top of my head I can’t remember a tale where the hero used a powerful weapon and was not able to pass it on afterwards.

To the OP – it felt a bit funny at first, but in a way it makes sense as well. Why the step back – or why they went the opposite way with ascended I don’t know.

The OP specifically states that he “can’t understand” the notion of viewing self-gathered materials as free.

There are many ways of looking at this, among them practical and logical views. Some people like to point out every little flaw and details in a movie, some just accept certain concepts and enjoy the thrill or whatever the movie is about.

Similar here. Is it ok for the hero to hunt down rare artifacts and then create his sword of power, or would be buy them at a bazar? What when it comes to chopping down hundreds of trees?

Then there is the obvious aspect of the gem to gold conversion, if I make $10 an hour and I can exchange that for 25 gold, why would I bother chopping trees if it’s not fun to me?

At what point do I consider the game I am playing costing myself something? Take this a step further and you might not consider playing at all – or sleeping – because of the huge opportunity cost it entails!

Don’t be. I wasn’t ready last year because I am taking my time with everything. Opportunities come on a regular basis if you look out for them.

Everything can be solved with open honest communication from the get go. Issues arise when people assume certain standards are supposed to be the norm.

I’m not sure why someone would be kicked half way through a dungeon if the ride was smooth. If the team wiped repeatedly and is trying to determine why that might be a different story.

However I don’t believe reporting is necessary, I would utilize the ignore function, shake it off and be on my way.

There is room for many players and different play styles in this game, I might not always agree and it’s a different story if someone is abusive/insulting etc, but otherwise I don’t believe the OP’s solution will accomplish anything good other than increasing Anet’s workload.

Mhhh, bug it with a screenshot? Really hard to say, never had any trouble myself – except for some starter gear not showing the look after the transmutation (hence the “left” thing), but Anet fixed that one.

I thought that was just to ensure that the right skin is used?

You have to chose three things usually, the look (click on it), the main stats and the rune if applicable – once you clicked on all of that you will have one set in the middle – you should not see anything on either side (or twice) so to speak.

This has to be one of my most favourite topics. I have a necromancer just waiting for it.

Perhaps un-equip the hood first, have both items in your inventory.

I assume that the only thing you would need is a transmutation stone.

Since crits are now your regular attacks you have a 0.5% chance for a mega-crit for an added 50% damage of the regular crit. Mega-crit chance will be a new stat on the next gear and you can get it up to, you guessed it, 100%

I see where you are coming from, but to me that sounds … defeated. There is no spirit left. What is the benefit of any story? A sense of adventure. From early text adventures where the story was the main part to what we have today, the story makes it unique and adds a layer to hide the mechanics.

Why did they bother taking away the famous “kill 10 rats”? It’s still there, but hidden a tad nicer behind a bar that moves without you being able to count. Trying to tell you a story.

It’s what the living story tries to do, but it’s not persistent. I could not level a character now and rescue refugees anymore. Which is a good thing as well but let’s not go too deep.

Taking the rose tinted glasses off, reward structure. Sooner or later one might want to “progress” in a different way. The main (personal) story line might be done, but I don’t feel like I look like a hero. The tug-o-war begins, got to keep you playing, so can’t “reward” you too much, just enough to keep you going – right?

What are some of the best moments for myself – stumbling over a “hidden” cave. What’s in it? I think this is one of the reason why people like the idea of an expansion, new maps, places to explore. Not just, here is a map, because the queen said so, kill everything in it. Not just, here is where the flying guys live, find 10 things.

Evidently the problem would be in this huge world – I will not stumble over a new hidden cave. Because if you tell me it’s there it’s not hidden anymore, if you tell me there are 10 new caves, find them all I will check a guide to get this chore done with.

Would it be a surprise or a nuisance if your favourite event chain all over sudden took a different turn? Maybe even branched out? One event turns into two, stay and defend the forward position or go with the team to flank the enemy.

Do I choose my own story when exploring? Sometimes. Let me make a choice.

Here would be my dream world – mix things up. Keep on doing the living story like it is, add some little things like that, don’t just rely on metrics. They couldn’t rely on metrics making maps initially, they made them to be fun.

Another thought, simply don’t hold my hand too much. Festivals, that’s fine, if they are a couple of months in-between. Being told every two weeks what to do (exaggerating a bit) get’s old a bit.

I am repeating myself here, but for what it’s worth there is where housing and even fishing comes in as well. I can tune out, do some stuff on my own pace. Not race against others all the time. Jumping puzzles can be like that, granted, but it’s not quite the same.

I just recently discovered that my lvl 80 ranger still has blue and green gear in the lvl 50-60 range. I did not really notice that on my rounds in Frostgorge.

Anyways, you might want to peruse the warrior forum and check guides as to what people recommend in certain situations. Do you primarily PvE, run Dungeons/Fractals, WvW? This might influence the choice of attributes you are looking for. At the end of the day your play-style will factor into this as well. If you are an awesome “can-dodge-it-all” try to increase attributes for damage, if you find you die too often … well you get my drift.

Add a visible event chain with a nice story and people might just talk about it. The only thing I’ve stumbled upon on different maps is the skritt-burglar. Which is literally the same event every time I encountered it.

I have millions of Karma that I can’t spend. That’s after buying 3 stacks of Obsidian Shards. Karma was way too easy to get, thus the nerf. At least now you need to go out and earn Karma through specific paths.

Since you have no use for karma, why don’t you spend it on the jewelry boxes?
