“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I don’t like the idea of potentially feeling “punished” because I don’t like the look of race X.
Also very unlikely, see race specific elite skills.
Also a word of caution. If you change worlds the bank stays where it was.
Good point, but can’t you “guest” back and retrieve items/gold?
For great justice!
I like how ‘everyone’ always points to the TP. The turnaround then is: “Everyone loves the TP, people are using it like crazy, it’s such a vital part.”
I do understand the concept and it’s not that I’m against it, but if people are actually having fun harvesting the items themselves, or it’s a matter of principle, and there are seemingly not enough (haven’t checked this personally) – they get the runaround and are basically ridiculed.
The question for me is – does this bring more players into the respective zones? If we create more nodes, would that lead to a price decrease and thus again decreasing players in those zones? With people being driven to Kessex Hill lately – why has there been no increased sell listing – surely most people harvest the nodes along the events?
In general I’m all for making lower tier crafting elements more valuable, so I myself would take the inconvenience of not being able to harvest enough in one map on one character.
So while we watch the right hand … what is happening with the left hand …
Sounds like you need Ninja Burger!
Good luck, I haven’t been up there yet so I don’t know.
I did not try to accumulate a lot of quartz back in the day and naturally my personal supply had dried up a while ago – maybe on a larger scale most people have run out by now as well. Instead of being able to craft 7 charged quartz a week you are now down to an average of maybe 2.
The post I was referring to was complaining that there was no way to get a gem store skin on another character without buying it again. He also suggested a feature that would make the skin account bound. I explained to him how he could do that already in the game, he can then dress the original character up in any fashion he chooses.
Oh ok, I figured that person knew that because he mentioned pretty much what is needed for that and that it’s a more complicated process.
In that regards I think it would be great if the splitter would turn the skin back into an accountbound skin that could then again be applied like in the first place … would have to think about it some more.
I think the shards are data mined for the pvp version of legendaries.
I see, could have definitely misread that, thanks.
Umm, as safe as anything else. Maybe a word of caution, don’t play with your “rank priviliges”, you might lose access there and don’t accidentally click on leaving the guild.
But otherwise, I haven’t lost anything so far. The only pain, things don’t stack automatically, so you have to take the item out first, stack it in your bag and then put it back into the bank.
I absolutely love that there will be seemingly some sort of story for the weapons!
Other than that I believe there were some “shards” datamined … all in all I would assume a similar approach as for the ascended weapons – some daily converted parts and some other new items trickeling in from doing different things in game to be then crafted including existing materials of various tiers.
Fun fact of the day: This easily done by transmuting it to a white, no level piece of gear. This will make the item account bound. Then you simply transmute that item to an appropriately leveled item on the character of your choice. This works for all weapons and all armor.
You’re welcome.
Congratulations, you are now naked, buy new armour to cover yourself again. I hope you didn’t want to keep that “other” look on the receiving character, otherwise you would – again – need to buy another piece of armour!
Only way to reduce this a bit would be to use the splitter to first take the skin off.
Or did I miss something?
Edit: Oops, on topic – I don’t think the original idea would be wise.

Welcome back!
This might help a bit in general:

Can’t help much with changes to Necro, best maybe checking that particular forum section – also know that there are more balance changes coming in December.
Keep in mind this is not set in stone yet, it’s a preview:

Ascended Weapon crafting:

Tequatl is a new open world “raid” so to speak, you can look into that. Magic find is different now (not sure if covered in the video above, watched it a month ago).
Mhhh, that’s in on top of my head but I’m most likely missing something.
Good luck!
Edit: One TA path was revamped.
Edit II: Mhh, there is a new ground target option in case you use staff as well, play with that. Floating damage indicator looks a bit different now, you can reverse that. Tab target was been revamped a bit.

Remove the market, and appoint John Smith as our central planner.
After I’m elected, bribing me will be considered a “gold sink”
:)
My thought process involved cookies … but I guess not everyone likes cookies …
Cookie?
Have you tried opening a ticket?
A small HP-like bar under the zone name wouldn’t be too obtrusive, and then you’d know which zone to hover your mouse over.
Not a bad idea.
Hey yeah, how about the bars just all come up by pressing a toggle.
How can we talk about ‘valuable’ here when there would be no TP? How exactly can we establish the value of a blue/green? You can’t. So all this talk about ‘valuable’ is pointless because you no longer have a currency to value it.
I don’t think he is talking monetary value here. I mean let’s face it, do you really go “yay an exotic drop”, or do you go – check TP value, check the look, decide to sell/salvage?
No doubt this lies deep within the design. The conundrum of not wanting people to “farm” a specific place for drops, but rather sample everything the game has to offer – versus rewarding the players/balancing the economy on a larger view.
I see strides made here towards alleviating some of the problems, mats for laurels, lodestones in champion bags etc. But also the constant need for balancing with new recipes and larger amounts of materials needed coming in new updates.
I unfortunately don’t have an answer or a solution, but I do think that champion farming for example is mostly an answer to the current state – and not the desire for “monster slaying”.
Or could there be a better way … like at a glance. Perhaps similar to the progess bars for other achievements (log in screen), have the “maps” listed under the main stats to the left. Could be expandable per region, otherwise there might not be enough room.
Mine are fixed, thanks! I like a quick turnaround on those little things
I read that a week ago and yes, my thoughts were along the same line.
But I also think it might be a bit more complicated in this genre.
Edit: To clarify, I’m talking about the core being “monster slaying”, not to remove the TP, just a little less perceived emphasis on it.

Scarlet did not send you a gift?
I always think of Benny Hill when my Mesmer freze-runs after a teleport.
Good times.

Check leaderboards, see top tier WvW servers – guest to check for trains. I’m on JQ and there is always a FGS train going, but I’m not sure about CS.
Good luck and have fun.
Edit: Sorry, I wrote this a bit in a rush, so it might read “harsh” , that’s not how I meant it. Some people might have problems promising you something that it a tad out of their control or they can’t say for sure out of experience. I don’t know for example what time zone you are in and if the trains are 24/7

I would like to see this on a charr first before commenting.
If however, I vote for propeller sound effects.
That dagger animation sure is sweet … ponders
It may eliminate the need for some MF gambling in the long run.
Was just going to say … pvp did not excite me personally much … but heh, let’s wait and … I mean sell out now while you can!!!
If I ever quit this game permanently, I’d totally overprice something to maintain my legacy in this game :P
Something like a 1500G Potato or Rucksack.
Mhh, Vol, one thing to consider, chose you must, item with low count, for shown it will not, if high the volume is.
Yes, mhhh.
Edit … dare I suggest “Evon Gnashblade Representation Button” – buy them all, put one back … I mean it has to be the right item, no?
Edit II : Not trying to get rid of you, by all means I hope you can stay longer and have fun
(edited by Rouven.7409)
And how much more is it going to cost me…. to make them account bound instead?
Since it did not state a price I was hoping for nothing … but we’ll see ^^
My little feedback after (looks at forum post) almost a month (?).
I still don’t have the amount of time to play that I wish I had but I’ve still done more diverse things with this guild than before. From guild missions, to a fractal, an AC explorable and the crowning “mafia/werewolf” game with no in-game reward or title at all.
Great place to be – with great people to be with.
Salve Legionnaires, Rouven.
Ok, honest feedback, first thing I noticed – sound. I had a hard time hearing you over the game music and sound effects.
I definitely commend you for teaching people to use external sites to figure out pricing. As sad as this is for the game itself(!) – no one should blindly use the selling window unless he doesn’t care.
Otherwise, especially for new players I think you should have shortened the guide and focused more on a different type of information, like where to get what. Honestly I skipped to the end after the first couple of minutes. Right now soft logs sell well, next month it could be cloth or the metal again for ascended armour crafting.
So really, don’t just farm and sell, but keep short term potential development in mind and if you have room in your inventory maybe keep some stuff.
All in all nice video, thank you for that, I’m sure it will give some new people a few pointers.
Alright, guys. Thank you everyone for the quick & helpful responses. That said, you all made it sound a lot easier than it actually is. WHEN I am said and done my journey through (the large area known as) Fireheart Rise, I will let you know how it went & award the most helpful answer. But thank you once again.
The most rewarding might be if you look at the personal story as a sort of guide through the lands. I tried to think of it like an adventure, your goal might be over there, but the road to it can twist and turn and bring more adventures. So I explored while I was at it, at least with the first characters.
That said, if all you care about is reaching your destination then definitely make sure you get the waypoints first, that way you don’t have to backtrack too far if you were overpowered. And stay away from events you don’t know.
Good luck and have fun!
The TP is part of Tyria, absolutely. The same as everything else, from dynamic events over dungeons to champions, it serves a purpose, it is a tool. As such it should be subject to change and improvement.
The same as there are no dmg meters and the like needed in this game, there should be no need for additional programs and websites for trading. The sell window does not really allow anyone to make an educated choice. Improve on this and everyones experience will be improved.
You buy “Glass of Buttermilk”, well you buy “Buttermilk in Bulk” and then there are 25 glasses in the box …
Does that help?
Edit: Bowl of Roux – it’s a basic recipe that you get automatically (crafting lvl 75), you don’t discover it, just check in your list of the recipes, you can even try entering “bowl” of “roux” in the search field.
(edited by Rouven.7409)
(…)
Option C: Complain about availability and price.
Pros – Helps to release frustrations by venting, and let’s Devs know how you feel
Cons – Does not add SDs to your inventory(…)
You forgot the entertainment value.
But seriously, while I don’t particularly care about the item in question, or the fact that the game design seems to encourage this type of “farming” (perhaps the jumping puzzles should be nerfed? honestly the chests should only be lootable if you did the puzzle from start to finish) as long as Anet does not come out and say that it’s intended I look at it as a mistake, simply because (on top of my head) nothing else follows this pattern.
So you’d like the game to react to you on a more personal level, such that people, places, etc. respond differently depending on your accomplishments, decisions, and so on?
Who would not want that? Does the ‘personality’ (charming, honorable, brute) actually have any impact outside of some dialogue choices?
I would love to hear if the situation is still the same, has improved or if the chances have decreased.
While I like the idea, my first thought reading the title was … like the halloween doors (!) – meaning I can plop them down anywhere.
If we were to be able to anchor a permanent door exlusively for us, perhaps even character based, it might not be a bad idea to think about how we will able to find the door again … sort of like a permanent personal marker on the map.
Or maybe his superiors never question his charts … because I seem to recall he mentioned that he never sleeps …
Approach it from the Iron Marches. If memory serves me correct that’s how I got there. That’s a while ago though.

Hope that helps.
Edit: To clarify, I assume you are looking for Ignavus Ridgerunner.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Icespear%27s_Shelf
Most likely the green swirrels are confusing you because they are sort of showing the shortest way going somewhere depending on your position, meaning the portals from one zone to another – on the map it will also show the place where you want to end at.

I’m sure John knows how to present and explain data. Very likely he has to do this on a regular basis as part of his job. Unless he gets away with “Trust me, I know what I am doing.” The question will always be how much he is allowed to tell.
At the end of the day, while I absolutely love statistics and graphs, there will be important data missing (for us) in order to correctly interpret them – so we will see and interpret them the way we would like to see them and the cycle of “give us proof” – “that is not proof” etc will continue.
Taking a snapshot of complex economy data and translating it into a visualization that will enlighten rather than mislead is actually way more work than it sounds like. There is a lot of expertise and thought required even for things that seem simple like whether to use a bar chart or a pie graph.
And then there’s the part where John probably has other work responsibilities that take up his time. If he really loved us though, he stop wasting all that time sleeping and interacting with his friends and family and give us some brightly colored charts to pick apart
Yes, but I thought John likes it when other players can show their expertise and explain it to us? looks innocent
Just let me tease a bit
John Smith mentioned this awhile back, and he said that constructing an infographic like that takes a lot of time and translation (not sure why that is so tough though)
Mhh, yeah, about half a year back if I remember correctly. I believe the only thing that came out of it was those few numbers on the one year poster. That’s the way I looked at it.
Kinda interesting that the trading post seems to be missing under “Gold earned”.
From what I gathered this could be used as a once a day skill point. I have both the candy corn and this obelisk. The candy corn can be mined once a day, but the skill point cannot. Can someone please clarify what the obelisk is for other than a once in a lifetime skill point?
To be used as a convenient “source of power” to convert quartz right next to the actual quartz node.
Of course this does not help if one doesn’t have the quartz node itself, but perhaps there will be more “recipes” coming that will utilize a “source of power” (that’s just speculation at this point).

Post with dev comments. Hope it helps.
I dont understand what this thread is about :/
It’s about a scent of humour.
Why can’t you jump into WvW or PvP with a bunch of friends for a 20-30 minute session?
Why compare different genres in this way? Why compare the story aspect to the 10vs10 skirmishes in Dota?
It simply meant that more people convert gold into gems which would indicate that apparently there is enough gold to go around.
I would be interested in a graph showing the % of players according to the % of gold exchanged. Or at least what kind of function we would see, even though my math is rusty I would google that
I think utilizing “extra” maps would bring some benefits, such as being totally destructible without hindering world exploration and simply removing dynamic events on a whim.
I had really enjoyed how southsun evolved, too bad it was left and the not really solo friendly events at choke points of the map made it undesirable for myself.
Other than that I think it has great potential, from building forts, to pirate attacks, to a volcano coming up, a crater leading to a dungeon etc etc. Heck, I don’t know if this is within the lore but a lesser dragon could scout the island for a nesting/resting place.
I could imagine rotating maps, meaning add two more themes to have a change from the tropical scenery. Food for thought.
That said I do like what has been done to kessex hill but obviously it comes with problems such as overlapping existing dynamic events, oblivious heart characters etc.
