It may also mean that pretty much everything will become more expensive now. Let’s take the example of the spirit back item … sounds to me like you have to craft weapons like foefire’s. We should also see more demand in every level of crafted armour. Unless it’s pretty much already unlocked for every one, but even then you might not have bothered crafting a green set at level 40 back in the day.

You salvage greens? I only salvage them if they’re under 1.5 silver, or I need bagspace . .. otherwise I sell.
I do yes, except for medium armour, those I just vendor now. I forged for a little bit, but figured it not really worth my time. I did the “only under a silver” a long time ago, it’s simply faster (for me) not to worry about that.

I don’t see much fault with the communication. I expect PR in the blog posts. The dev comments here on the forum are mainly down to earth and as direct as they can be. Although often repetitive when it’s a case of “we can’t say, give details” etc.

But about him somehow getting to Brie without you noticing and much quicker than seemingly possible? That’s actually concerning and I’m glad you’ve mentioned it.

I guess it’s as simple as this – you never get an answer when it comes to gentleman agreements between players. Report the player in question, I’m certain Anet will take action if they deem the player spoils the game for too many others or is using exploits etc.
They allow this as long as it is beneficial for the majority of players. If at one point it is not anymore then they will most likely make it not an option anymore instead of adding an official “protected” way of selling dungeon paths – in my opinion.

A surprising amount of players never use food despite how powerful it is. While it is not the items primary purpose, I would like it if it taught people how great food is and more people became eaters.
Heh, try quickbars. As it is I always forget to open my bags. Make it eatable out of my bank for an added bonus. Squirt gun is novel, but I know I’ll forget it soon enough as well, buried in my bags, not being double clicked anymore sniff.

Make finishers a random occurrence that comes up after defeating every 10th/20th humanoid (?) in PvE without actually having to stomp – then it might be interesting – for anyone who does not PvP.

Question I have is how the miniature collector achievement will count now. Is it going forward still “just” owning the mini or will it have to be “unlocked” as a skin so to speak.

If it’s so subtle it could be noticed only as a stealth nerf, there’s no call for an entire blog post on this “feature”. It could just be listed in the patch notes. Nothing stealthy about that.
I sort of agree. It sounds really underwhelming to say we’re changing it, but you really won’t notice. I have no doubt that I won’t notice since I really don’t “need” armour or weapons for the most part (or I am certainly not going to wait for a drop), but I hope that it will be noticeable enough for newer lvl 80 characters.

Your ideas are counter productive for MMOs. Anet actually tried it with the initial LS. Temporary content such like MF dungeon for example. Check out the complaint threads.
What good is an increased content that no one wants to do? Why do you think they stopped offering all activities at the same time? You are fragmenting the player base. There are enough maps already that are not popular “per se”.

Don’t get me wrong, I like new stuff as much if not more as the next guy … but you are simply bored, that doesn’t have anything to do with farming. You find farming boring which is why you associate being bored with it.

Should be the same. Difference is you might not have every complete set unlocked. So the “T” chest will be lower down if you have more chests unlocked than your “T” glove which you only have half of (amount vs chests in this example) unlocked and most of them in the “U-Z” range.

I mean, the fact is, even with this event, the rate of obtaining highly-sought-after loot is not amazing. Getting a lot of champ bags is a crapshoot of dice rolling at the end of the day and the averages aren’t going to be mind-blowing. Something like farming a node, on the other hand, yields the same item every time, guaranteed.
I agree it’s not the same, but I don’t think it matters on a larger scale. Keep in mind that this affects more than just T6 mats. Your personal crapshoot roll does not change yes, but X amount of people are rolling now 100 times more than they should for X amount of time played. I believe if we would have seen large swings then the system in place would not be good enough and someone would not be doing his job.
Unless it’s an intentional time limited event made to shake up the market. All largely speculation of course.

Tyria is so big and there are enough events. I don’t feel I own any single one of them. Sure it feels odd to me personally to “fail” an event, but I shrug it off. Maybe I’m getting old, but I don’t feel like running through the same tunnel over and over. At the end of the day it’s the same with any event, but at least it’s different tunnels.
The problem is once it reaches a critical mass. I am willing to bet that we could farm this event in harmony, a band of brothers and sisters against the undead – it would still be nerfed. It creates an imbalance by not having the same limitations.
Let’s use the rich ori node that existed in southsun as an example. Fine as long as people mosey over there harvesting it once (protected by a huge champion). Not fine anymore when every single alt is stationed there and creates 10 times the estimated amount of ore.

ANet expected, I imagine, that due to the lack of a subscription fee that players could feel relaxed and take a leisurely pace doing content they enjoy doing to earn the gold needed for the items they want. Why the rush, game will still be there next month, enjoy yourself. But this is the instant gratification generation who get their content RIGHT NOW over Steam, iTunes, Amazon Prime, etc. They’ve been conditioned by MMOs over the last decade to rush to max level ASAP and then it’s a relatively short nightly grind of raid content to earn their BIS items and then jump game until an expansion comes out. It’s Cannonball Run across America instead of the leisurely Sunday drive in the countryside that I think the devs were trying to achieve.
Nice write up and I agree for the most part. Concerning the last paragraph one might consider the conditioning by GW2 to expect “limited time” offers. While I understand that the intention here is to offer something via real cash, they might have also created an environment in which you are compelled to feel like it’s never enough. There is not one pace, the pace is getting faster – or so it seems perhaps. In any case this is not a matter of right or wrong, just food for thought.
