“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
They where on sale again recently (mid-end june), not sure if that’s what you meant by “a while back” … I would not expect them returning too soon.
The irony is, I can only see this driving an even larger wedge between GW2 and lapsed players. The longer someone takes a break, the more they’ll have to pay in order to catch up on content.
So if I decide to revisit the game in 2015 (I’m really not likely to this year given how much current development strategies disgust me), I will not be able to play any new content unless I pay for it. I will be faced with the same game I left because I thought they were leaning too heavily on the gem store in the first place.
ArenaNet and GW2 have completely lost any faith I had in them.
I hope, sincerely, it comes back and bites them hard. They don’t deserve the adulation of their fans. And they certainly don’t appreciate it anywhere near as much as they should. This thread is full of people defending them, who don’t realise they’re trapped in a soul-sucking loop of trivial, mediocre gameplay.
They’ve been doing it so long, they’ve forgotten what value is and don’t realise there are games out there that offer so much more than GW2 for less money.
They can still go onto the maps, they can still do stuff, they are not even missing out on special rewards (based on what we know right now).
I haven’t tried another MMO in a while because they were all subscription based and I am not going to pay subscription anymore.
Of course if you don’t like the game there is no value for you, but that would be the same for any game and has nothing to do with this model.
thank you for replies,
yes I forget that sigil of air only activates on critical hit… and hits only 1 target…well so the problem now is: which sigil combination will give you the best damage output?
bloodlust + force ?
fire/air + force ?
Bloodlust + fire/air ?
For what content?
Do I have to park my alts strategically now … decisions decisions …
I commend Anet on the delivery, this is the sort of stuff I like – changes over time.
The answer is most likely that you can’t crit bosses.
Ok, well I would not calculate with sell prices, but that explains it, thanks Mystic.
My answer to the OP would be, calculate the difference as Mystic has done and then appraise the difference in value for you.
This includes world exploration, acquiring karma, other options to convert over 300 skillpoints to gold etc.
Fastest and easiest in my opinion would be to sell the precursor and buy the one you would like (if possible). You might also want to factor in if you have some unique materials already – be it silver doubloons or charged lodestones etc.
Edit: Maybe I’m thinking too complicated since you don’t want to craft a second legendary but buy it outright? Would all depend on which pre drops for you I guess.
(edited by Rouven.7409)
if you get dawn as a drop and sell it, you’ll get 850g
if you craft sunrise and sell it, it’ll cost you another 1630g and you’ll get back 2902g (1272g profit)
if you craft a ‘random’ legendary, I would currently suggest meteorlogicus, it’ll cost you 2205g and you’ll get back 2796g (591g profit)
so… (1272g profit) vs. (850+591g=1441g profit)
I would say selling dawn then crafting and selling the highest-profit-legendary would be slightly better than crafting sunrise. of course, that is not always true (like if sunrise was the highest-profit-legendary).
I’m not sure if my math is off but I don’t understand this.
A buy order for Dawn is currently around 935g, minus 15% trading fee – 795g pure “profit”.
Crafting Sunrise now would involve all the materials, skillpoints, karma etc, I assume everything you can buy is valued at buy prices for 1630g?
So if you sell it now for 2900g, minus tax leaves you with 2465g, minus the above mentioned cost = 835g
40g more but all your karma, skillpoints etc lost?
Confirmed
you can make it ascended even if it’s transmuted.
I wish I knew this before I spent most of my blade fragments on starting a new back piece…Oh well, at the current 3 a day that I get it will only be a few months before I have enough to upgrade it again.
You can make more if you have watchwork sprockets. Just in case.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blade_Shard
Of course you will need more sprockets later on too.
Please do not report him, squishing slow asura is his only hobby and joy in this world, just think of it as natural selection. Pleeeeease.
This is a worthy cause, I support this.
People will not like me for this … but Trahearne should totally have a cameo and “explain” the whole thing to us – lol.
I think it’s just a fun little side tidbit, nothing deeper.

If you speak to Pol:
Pol: I’m ready to go. This is Varkk and the honor of our krewe! Excelsior!
—> Are you sure? Nobody wants another Sewer Incident.
Pol: Okay, look-that intern said he wanted to travel. It’s not my fault half of him wound up in the sewer. Besides, we put him back together.
—> It was more than half, Pol. And the mouth kept yelling at us while we searched.
Pol: Yeah, that was…troubling. But you found the rest of him before it got flushed away. Once we reassembled him, there wasn’t even a scar. Oh, and let me say again: sorry I busted that overflow pipe.
—> So am I. We both stunk like skritt scat for a week. Now, let’s go get our translocator.
—>That’s the spirit. We’ll make the Inquest regret trifling with us.
Rox, Braham, Marjory, Kasmeer, and Taimi are referred to internally as “B-Iconics” (or Biconics) as opposed to our “A-Iconics” or main iconic characters, Caithe, Rytlock, Eir, Zojja, and Logan.
From the link of my previous post here.
They are all listed here
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Brisban_Wildlands
My suggestion is open the map from the wiki and compare with your in-game map, that way you can usually find them. I’d almost suspect you are missing the one north-east heading into the proxemics lag.
I post here … often, I don’t get gold selling messages all the time. Coincidence me thinks. But just in case … dear gold sellers, please save your time and energy, I am not interested.
All I’m reading is “I don’t like this game”, just not phrased as nice.
Write it out correctly then, B-iconics.
?
Ok, just as an idea for a different direction you could play with …
Invisible Pie – play on “the cake is a lie”
Could translate invisible in other languages and see what comes out. Punjabi (according to google) is Adikha for example.
You can already use Bloodstone Dust in Toxic Nourishments, (…)
Are the recipes still available?
Edit: Ok, I assume laurels and 15g would be an option …
(edited by Rouven.7409)
Still wondering what the OP is telling us. Is that his limit? Is that the limit? I know Anet has a limit on how much you can spend to protect them from fraud …
Can I not “make” 1000g in 1 minute?
Is it “making” gold when I’m “exchanging” currencies? Or did I actually make gems?
I caved back in the day and bought it (Final Rest) for 8g I believe. The character it is intended for is still around lvl 25, lol.
I can’t really say, I’ve been playing a bit more recently and also spreading my wave of wrath more in orr … so my view will be skewed. I’ve had one drop and one exotic from chest recently that I remember – best guesstimate would be one a month maybe.
That “newcomer” could be me – just to provide an example. I’ve said a few times that I will start thinking about exchanging gems for gold once I get like 120g for $10 (=800gems, which is the approx equivalent of one complete T3 cultural armour set).
Of course that is just my preference, maybe someone is spending $20 right now for that.
Would make more sense underwater then swimming in two tons of metal.
Under water outfits … toggle the same as the breathing mask …
Itsy
bitsy
teenie
weenie
No? How about a Josephine Baker’ish banana skirt?
Probably showing my age here.
I’m still waiting for my time to magically turn into money … I hope I don’t have to wait as long as Van Gogh did.
Ask and je shall receive!
i said the best way for them to make money would be for you to do gems, but if all of you stop buying gems with real money it would solve itself, because then the exchange would be bankrupt, and no items would be generated except by cash.
the system is designed well, it corrects itself.
There is a “finite” amount of gems (edit: available for the exchange as per John a long time ago) and according to that the price will vary. If we stop buying gems with real money AND then exchanging them for gold the system would not go bankrupt, the price in gold for gems would rise astronomically so that no one is able to buy the last remaining gems.
(…)
like anet who actually get more money for the same product when gold->gem seller buys a costume, than when a cash buyer buys a costume.(…)
Hold it … you are saying I should stop buying gems with real hard digital cash and instead use the in-game currency because this is better for Anet?
as long as you dont mind working a lot harder for the same benefit(if you are going to earn the gold yourself.)
if you really want them to get the most money per purchase, without slaving away for days, buy gems, turn it to gold, then turn the gold to gems and buy the gem store item.or you could just by tons of gems and do nothing with them.
but if you want them to get the most money per item produced, yeah buy gold, sell gold for gems.
That doesn’t even make sense. You do know the exchange is different. So you are really saying the best for Anet would be if I spend double the money on gems and then destroy half of them? (edit: I know it’s not 50%)
You really think if ALL of us would stop paying and instead playing more so we can exchange gold to gems they would miraculously make real world money?
No, it’s a feature. An OPTION! So people can say “well you don’t have to spend cash, you can play totally free and exchange your gold”.
I got two keys from map completions recently, but I could not remember having an actual key drop …
I might be wrong, but I thought the “meta-achievement” equivalent this time around would be the new head skin (adventurers scarf etc).
By ummm, trying to make the achievements harder and having less of them for less points they took the reward out of there and put it in a chest.
That was my take on the situation. Thumbs up for a living vine skin!
That doesn’t really have anything to do with the Living Story, though. Its part of Dry Top and I assume will be permanent just as Dry Top itself is.
And even if it is meant to be the meta-achieve equivalent, putting it as chest-based RNG instead of guaranteed LS-based award is quite a change and doesn’t really make it seem the same at all.
There are no time-limited parts of the living story anymore, everything is permanent (unless you count temporary gem store sales). Dry Top is the Living story if you so will.
But yes, the fact that there is no time limit anymore to “earn” the reward most likely factored into it as well.
Anyways, not trying to argue, as I said this is only my take on it. It’s the only “skin” – and the only new “reward” that is not exchanged for a new currency (like the recipes for example).

I don’t think he means literally as in the character itself?

Well there is a simple fix, we have to charge more for our red dyes.
Mwahahahahaaaa
Sandshoes.
Coming to a gemstore near you!
(…)“He’s winding up for super-mega-attack, everyone stun now!”
Discuss?
This somewhat irks me. Most of the time in open world content pertaining a “boss” fight I’m not even able to see the boss within the colourful mesmerizing bubble, let alone tell what he’s doing.
Sorry, not trying to be negative, I like reading comments such as yours right now and it’s otherwise a nice idea, especially if it would not be a back and white scenario – basically he could be only 70% stunned and damage, area of effect decreased etc.
I suspect we’ll see housing with the first paid expansion.
Sir, did you just confirm paid expansions coming soon?
“Nothing is off the table.” I have this from a reliable yet anonymous source.
I even had special mounts only to be used in those new dungeons …
What about Open-PvP in those dungeons ? With permadeath. You never know when your friend will sudenly backstab you ..
Special reward for people who survive 100 runs : an ugly cape that clips like hell
So … we do have to go through WvW first to get to the dungeon, right? Our traits could totally change within the dungeon as well, every guardian would be a healer, every elementalist a glass cannon …
Now I don’t want to be too hard, I do hope that the living story will have a dungeon with three paths along the way. Since the whole “meta-achievement” rewards has been changed no one can complain that the skin would be gated behind group content. The great equalizer of “open many chests” will take care of this.
As for the notion of “hardcore content”, I believe that should stay within the personal challenges such as Liadri. (Note that I did not even ever saw her)
While I understand (or at least hope) this is sarcasm…. it still creates the desire to drown you for giving them such an idea…
You are right, I didn’t think that through. The gold sink would be too great and silk scraps would go through the roof.
It sounded like a good idea though. I even had special mounts only to be used in those new dungeons …
Death Dungeons.
Upon entering you agree that if you die in this dungeon your character and everything on him will be instantly deleted. Only level 80 characters in ascended quality gear may pass.
If you manage to survive and beat the dungeon you deserve the opportunity to open a chest which most likely will contain an item of masterwork quality but with the chance of a super rare skin.
I take anything, just please no random box or chest or anything remotely like that.
The keys alone are more cost efficient than buying them normally but even that is stuff based on RNG. Who keeps buying these keys anyway? There are more cost-effective ways of getting black lion tickets.
Maybe those cost effective ways are not time efficient?
I find the chests themselves boring. The greatest new addition, an item that let’s you change the boosters … while practical I still have to yawn.

What you should know is that even if you decided you want to do this and spam join a megaserver map, it will not help you. Recently we implemented a system that will throttle and prevent a player from sending too many “join map” requests in short sucession. While this is not a solution to help players join full maps, it does somewhat even the playing field for multiple players attempting to join a full map.
Just wanted to let you know that spamming doesn’t help.
Not that that helps the general topic. I’m sure they are working on that.
You guys argue about concepts, not facts.
I feel transported back into philosophy class, if a tree falls in the woods and no one heard it, did it make a noise?
Depends was it a Mob, and does it drop loot?
lol
Schroedingers Precursor – if no one’s there no one can loot the tree!
Hehe. Maybe I’m mixing stuff up now.
You guys argue about concepts, not facts.

exploiting is a strong word, its an exchange, sometimes exchanges are mutually beneficial.
whether it is or not probably varies person to person and situation to situation.but regardless of the word you want to put to it, gold->gems makes anet money. which means activities that allow this to happen have a monetary value.
Of course, strong words are the nature of headlines. I was sure you would understand since you push concepts to the limit.
I bring value by solely being there and interacting with others. Unless I don’t adhere to the rules, at that point I’m not bringing value anymore and —> bam, banned.
It (the conversion) does not make Anet money directly. However by offering the service both ways it does, that is correct.
This however does not phase me as a customer because essentially it does not cost me anything.
Of course I could hypothetically invent a new energy source instead of playing computer games, so the cost of playing GW2 is indeed great, but I am willing to pay the price.
In fact you could also turn this around, you actually cost Anet money. All the time. It’s like the comparison chart we got at the bank many years back – if a client calls he costs us this much, if he walks in and talks to the teller he costs us this much …
You and I, we cost Anet money by the second. Even here on the forum. In exchange we provide a little service, but you can only make up to it by paying them really.
Nooo, I’m waiting for the first threads about this.
250 sand and nothing in it
Haha, quick someone make a headline: “Free Online Games Exploiting Youth*”.
Ah well, at least I’m getting “somthing”. Other MMOs charged me for working for them and didn’t let me raid alone either.
* just sounds better
Edit: It’s true btw, I’m totally adding value to the City I’m living in and they also only charge for this and that instead of saying thank you and paying me, sigh.
(edited by Rouven.7409)
Having crafts rely on other crafts is actually the correct direction to go, its too bad they consider it a “bug”. Its how you make an economy.
To me that only makes sense if I am not able to craft everything myself. Which I am. I could even have all crafting skills on one character and switch them for a fee.
