“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I don’t have a belief per se, just trying to give input to your suggestion and why I don’t think it’s a good one – I can change my mind if given solid reason.
At the end of the day basically you can already pay with your credit card for everything, but how would it make you feel if essentially your ability to earn in-game gold with farming items would be limited by a price ceiling (which is what those vendors would be). Surely the next step would be for someone to say: “Why are the vendors only selling cotton, I don’t need much cotton, I need silk, let them sell silk.”
Next would be, what about produce? Take something like Rosemary Sprig perhaps, should the vendors sell those too?
At what point might people say – this is P2W. Even if that might not be truly the case, at what point might there be an overal perception that “playing” is futile, farming nodes obsolete – would that still be fun? I see many many people farming nodes in maps – surely at least some of them like doing it.
@Rouven while that seems nice, I don’t think it makes sense for low level players to be able to gather the most expensive materials. It doesn’t seem bad if the system changes and only high level players can collect the highest value materials, at least not to me.
@Beldin true, and if they were to find those avenues weren’t giving the economy enough gold they could just boost those sources.
As the game ages most people are and will stay at max level, those materials will eventually always be “oversupplied”. But look at silk, I’m sure John can help us out and make the requirements for all other high level materials similar.
In regards to non- or only semi-farmable items, the highest value materials are only available to “max” level characters. Namely T6, lodestones, exotic items including their sigils/runes.
I wasn’t going to buy linen anymore – I can farm about 40 scraps within 20-30 minutes, or even more if doing the pre-events for the world boss Ulgoth – which you will most likely still do at max level.
Orichalcum and Ancient Wood are still up there in price as well, also for max level.
The system cannot give newer players more gold (meaning hearts, events, maps) – it has to come from the TP – and those players need it.
I don’t think these players are trying to control anything. They are trying to make more gold. In the meantime they buy a lot of items from others all the while a lot of gold is taken out of the circulation.
It would be fun to see what would happen if absolutely no one would use the mystic forge for a week. Would this result in more open world pre-cursor drops?
All episodes once with one character. The first episode again with that character for achievements.
Did the first episode again with a second character. Wasn’t as fun as I thought, but it was an alternative to get some keys and more geodes. I mainly try to see if the game reacts different to my Asura character then to my Norn.
It helps newer players who can sell lower level materials at a decent price. It gives an incentive for higher levels to visit lower level maps. For this case I would not see a benefit in having an alternative to the TP.
Happens often to me, even waypointing within Cursed Shore, which can be annoying when running into invisible obstacles. At least there are usually two NPCs at the entrance of the camps so you know how to get out of there.
But I don’t suffer from random disconnects.
Ok, I gave it some thought, here is the setting:
A high plateau in the Dry Top, Taimi on her Golem, a microphone in her hand.
Now close your eyes and listen to the song, at the refrain you might replace the image of my Norn with your own character.
I would not compare this with Sony in regards to Landmark. Landmark is a totally different animal, if then compare it to EQN – there it will remain to be seen how many of those round tables make it to the game at all, at start, a year after or where the idea has changed again because of this and that.
Let’s us toilet queen, just it [=.=]
The mystic forge is not fit for a Queen!
I just finished watching the second preview of profession changes that might come, which they encourage us to discuss on the forums. It’s not like they don’t talk to us at all.
Hehe, well no – you know that’s not what I meant. Perhaps I should have used the term “cultural”. B-day tattoo for Norn, maybe cultural backpieces or armour skins, maybe even just a cultural toy.
Prepare yourself for another Jennah-mini
Said the pessimist. “But this time in a new outfit!” said the Optimist. “Nonsense, the Pale Tree Mini is up next.” said the Realist.
?
I liked the OP’s tone in the reddit thread better, but heh, I guess one has to adapt. Congratulations on acquiring the weapon set that you like!
My only hope would be something “racial”. Although I am sure some people would not like that either if they don’t have the specific race that might receive the coolest out of the birthday gifts.
Instead of a lvl 20 booster perhaps something more universal, other than that I have no expectations and an army of the same mini might not be avoidable.
Why thinking so complicated? Simply tie the death of the champions (in a scaled event) to the completion of the event.
If scary blue ring is occupied, advance tick by 3 per second. If champion is defeated, advance tick by 10 even if ring is red.
Done, maximum amount of spawns decided, event completion guaranteed, nothing changed for non-scaled events like this.
I feel bunnies are overdone, I mean even the grawl are using them. Now cute little kittens on the other hand … purr purr BOOM
I was a little disappointed when I saw the “new” pvp tournament medium armour presented with the comment “notice it’s not a coat”. I know it wasn’t meant in a bad way.
(…)
I DO get the “I might buy more gems in the future.”, part of the post, but the above is in no way a “threat” to revenue.
I don’t think it should be understood as threat, it however very nicely shows that the OP does not even spent the gems he got refunded on the existing offers.
Having said that, I’m quite the opposite. Ever since “outfits” became easier to use and more importantly an option in combat I purchased them, whereas I never purchased “town clothes” before.
Still I find it a shame that the nice shirts and hoods vanished. I would buy them now if I could mix and match them with my armour.

Be a man, don’t stack.
Think outside the stack.
Sincerely
A huge mountain of muscle, aka Norn.
I’ve been through the Dry Top on a kite with no name, it felt good to be out of the rain.
There where plants and thorns and rocks and things, buried chests with no keys.
Edit: I could do with a crystal infused horse that can jump really high … mhhhh.

Christos knows his stuff. Don’t be critical of him.
Can you translate?
no.
Dang. So I won’t know what he knows.
I am for a while now pretty much only playing my guardian. I am not ashamed to say that there where a few passages where I got downed in the LS or even defeated, but never to a point where I had to stop, retrait, change weapons or give up.
Perhaps I’m simply missing the joke. I can be naive like that sometimes.
Christos knows his stuff. Don’t be critical of him.
Can you translate?
(…) What genius came up with that idea?
This is all about numbers. You still sell more keys and you give others an incentive to exchange gems to gold. It will only change once the majority resists buying keys. But that’s like saying “hey everyone, don’t buy gas today!”.
I’m not trying to be negative, but “double of nothing” was my first thought, I almost chuckled.
Imagining Tom Cruise jumping from a cliff with the kite:
Dry Top Impossible
I don’t open enough chests for this, but I ain’t complaining. It would probably just gather dust in my inventory like all the other toys… shame on me.
I on the other hand am still wondering what this crafting “class” is?
Well, other stuff works too, but honestly once “I” tasted the sweet speed of mob-annihilation – why would I go back? Especially in open PvE this is very noticeable. Mostly it’s just a question of the utility traits for me.
One of the funnest and most satisfying moments for me (again, open world PvE) is when I can pull at least 3, best case 5 mobs with a guardian’s GS binding blade and then mow them all down at once. A simple pleasure I admit.
That dress would go nicely with Twilight.
That somehow reminds me of the conversation between Vincent and Jules.
Vincent: You know what they put on French fries in Holland instead of ketchup?
Jules: What?
Vincent: Mayonnaise.
Jules: censored.
Vincent: I’ve seen ’em do it, man. They censored drown ’em in that stuff.
Not a fan of poutine here, but food is always good!
Skipping through I did not see this mentioned and I feel it’s related – does anyone know whatever happened to the “Collaborative Development Initiative (CDI)”?
Last thing I remember was along the lines "sorry for the delay, it will be up ‘soon’ ".
How is it ninja if it’s included in the Patch Notes?
I missed it, ergo it must have been ninja!
At least it would give some people something to do. It would also make people with Ascended armor angry, unless that was a type of “precursor”.
Ascended armor as a precursor could work well. Would allow people to keep any existing ascended (+maybe infusions, but less likely) while using the rest of the material farm as the challenge in obtaining the armor.
Would address some of the complaints about precursor availability regarding legendary weapons, and also open up a route to creation of a second set of legendary weapons further along the line from ascended weapons…
Being able to change the stats of the armour might be nice.
In regards to the look – instead of “blinding bling” there could be other options.
Moving parts – living perhaps even (think sylvari), day/night change, sounds (perhaps it whispers something in my ear every once in a while?). Perhaps it could charge up with every kill (if you have a full set) for one cosmetic looking attack or offer something on a different cd.
I think someone tried to call me something like that once. I could not really understand him after I bit his head off. Crunchy!
They are already getting less rewards by not doing the pre-event. Or would you like an extra chest at the pre-event? In any case, punishing the player for maybe coming late is the wrong way to go in my opinion.
However, for science I did one experiment at Jormag (once!) because I find the event sort of tedious. I pretty much only attacked him in the beginning after the ice wall went down the first time. Still got 2 chests at the end. (Edit: Now that I sort of feel is wrong.)
Now you can argue that I missed out on the champ boxes – at least now you feel like you are helping (attacking the champs) a bit because I’ve seen the champs actually move in and attack people in the main golem-bomb-way. Otherwise I’m not sure this is the best dynamic either.
I often wonder why people lie dead at the Golem, maybe they are afk, maybe they don’t know better, I’d still want every one possible trying to help instead of thinking “meh, I’m not getting the full reward anyways, just gonna tag him”.
Please invent cosmetic bonfire. 100 elder wood logs for a fire out in the open that lasts 5 minutes.
Always hard to say, I seem to get enough to be doing that daily recipe. Only just started, I did sell them in the beginning. I’m not sure if an incentive for wood cutting was needed, hehe.
(…)
1) get the green message off from the top right corner of my screen
(…)
Did you know, that if you don’t start the LS, there is no green message?
If “Movement speed effects don’t stack” how can I have the extra 33%?
Either they do stack but somehow it is not visible/working or they DONT stack and it is useless?
Try it during a sandstorm. Apparently the movement speed for the kite does stack with others. Otherwise if you had 25% +5% kite, and your friend 33% you would likely appear to be same speed.
That’s my best guess, I don’t have a kite myself.
Edit: To clarify, it stacks with the boon swiftness from what I understand, so if you have a skill in your utility bar for 33% you should be running 66% during the uptime of the boon. Disregard the comment above with the 25% + 5%, I don’t think that works that way.
(edited by Rouven.7409)
Mh, I’m a bit mixed about this. It wasn’t really to clear to me what advanced the fight. I guess you needed to kill the ghosts in order to “charge” the sword. The orbs kinda came out of nowhere, I noticed the orb only the second time being downed by one – after that this part was clear. At least Rox healed me, not like Braham in a previous episode. All in all not too much trouble – but didn’t feel very heroic either.
(…)
If anything, John Smith is probably using this Foxfire opportunity to gather valuable data about GW2 market trends. It must be a fun time for him!
Haha, I was thinking about him as I was chopping wood and selling the few clusters I got *lol
Woot, I did not know that, gotta check it out on my heavy female character. I’m not using it atm but I would have loved to check out different colours for the light on my male character.
Ummm … there would be better ways to make sure people don’t play “too long”.
I really doubt they would use such drastic action for that reason.
Some people also cycle their alts. They log in (aka appear), then log out (aka disappear). With some of my characters I usually do that at some rich nodes (iron, platinum) although I also grab nearby chests.
I love it but I would like a Sieran verse! Yayyy.
Everyone should post their songs and poems. ^^
Done
I’m waiting for someone to say he can shave 10 seconds off key runs …
Lilith, I thank you for this and shall answer you with a casual tune that you can listen to. I do slightly favour Norn however, I hope you don’t mind.
The tune to the lyrics can be found here:

Get your zerker gear on
Headin to the cursed shore
Lookin for some loot
All the drops and more
Yeah Sieran
Gonna make it happen
Takin Orr in a love embrace
Fire all of your skills at once
And explode into space
I like Omnomberries
Orichalcum Ore
Permanent swiftness
And the feelin of more
Yeah Tybalt
Gonna make it happen
Takin Orr in a love embrace
Fire all of your skills at once
And explode into space
Like a true shiverpeak child
We were born
Born to be Norn
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be Norn
Born to be Norn
Equipping your exotics
Waitin to be ascended
Lookin for world bosses
Traits to be amended
Yeah Forgal
Gonna make it happen
Takin Orr in a love embrace
Fire all of your skills at once
And explode into space
Like a true shiverpeak child
We were born
Born to be Norn
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be Norn
Born to be Norn

I almost fear that a “home instance banker” and the like will be sold at the gemstore later.
But on topic – I agree.
It’s just the way how this set was designed/introduced. You know that you will need to actually buy the recipes on the TP? They are not “discovered” as the rest of them.
There have been a few threads already asking to remove the crafting cd on this.
If you do it in the first few minutes of release, you’ll have a ton of company. Wait a week and it’ll be more as intended.
Wait two weeks and you could be totally “immersed”.
Well, for people that have slower computers, loading screens can take a while…
No doubt – and time is money
Would it skip many loading screens? Does it land you “in” your home instance or in front of it? Just thinking about waypointing within the city after that as well (although that usually goes faster if not instant).
Edit: I guess GamerOnline is sort of answering this.
Heh, it would take me around 3000* ports. It’s a convenient item, maybe if the home instance is upgraded I’ll consider it. For now I’ll keep one alt at the home instance, no porting needed. Otherwise PvP → LA for free and from there on I usually wayport somewhere else anyways.
*that is assuming 900 gems being equal to 90g and ports for 3s.
Is it literally telling you that the Tarnished Coast server is entirely full? I’m just curious, since this is the first I’ve heard of such a thing.
If you want to move to another server this can happen (from what I understand). This seems to depend on the actual amount of people being online, so the advice usually is to check back during off hours when less people play.
