The Ultility skills are the responsible tools for out wished Dinamic Hunts.
Thieves may seem OP here, but its not an excuse to not have similar good skills to use.
Traits can also share the design about the new “mana”, but I’m not sure that we should really modify the system. Faster regen, chance to spend less, etc would be good points.
WIP!
The core of this overhaul is about the new Endurance/Stamina based weapon useage, so we would have these good skills but in reasonable and helpful format. WvW Thief rule is to scout, meanwhile We should do that, so we need more stealth. + to eliminate some kind of treat like siege users, etc.
Thieves may hunt down key foes like commanders, elementalits, guardians.
For hunting, we need to Catch things, knockdown interrupts & immobilise seems one of bests. It would even help to survive, meanwhile right now we’re the worst at it…
In big picture, we would be useful interrupters as was in GW1, so the Hunter will not become a Prey.
Yes its a Big task to do, but if we say that they just overrushed our beloved class, its the same work they just “skipped”. They CAN do it and with the support of YOU, it still has a chance to happen. I don’t think its such a risk to try out new ways, its what GW2 is about, right? Faith the Revolution!
!! Within days I’ll put in the reworked Ultility skills to the reserved post !!
P.s.: Some says Warhorn #4 needs Blind. I’ll add this to the list as an additional effect, looks like I’ve just missed it. + NEW solo weapon skills for SUPPORT, as long as no main weapon equipped.

[Pets]
Pets may have no physical DMG at all, so we Rangers can manage with full, but it’s still unrealistic… However, it would be nice if our oponents gets the surprise packs comming from the pets. They’re nearly like the extensions of our arms/will, as catching foes.
The base stats may still be able to be locked, but at least their skills to use should be customizable to have the wanted pet and effect at the same time. It’s a true tame and train. So let’s say, a wolf can cause knockdown and fear, or it summons a pack. One is sure: Their buffs should ALWAYS effect us.
And they shouldn’t be juveniles…

These details above are all “mind-calculated”, the adjusting of values are up to the balance team!
In hope GW2 still can be a real “Revolutionary MMO”, I take my efforts to practice my game designer skills, and then wait for your hopefully positive feedback that comes from your hearth.

Warhorn: Howl your might!
Dagger: Every hunter has a survival knife.
Torch: Spray fire instead of throwing it.
So with this new system and skills, we’re able to HUNT DOWN our targets, or just to provide fair help during fights. Projectile speed should be increased to prevent false misses, blocks should only work from a degree of angle.
Stealth breaks if took X% damage of base HP(These can go to other classes as well!)

How can we be the masters of Wilderness Survival? Our Flexibility offers a nice balance to take our risk. The Ultility skills we have should also support both our Flexibility and Durability in special ways. Above that the Base Stats should should be slightly improved & our Traits adjusted to sharpen the wanted weak or strongpoints. Changes;
NOTE: These are still need to run on recharge mech.
The pet-control skills should be imported to the basic pet useages…

Welcome, fellow Rangers! For the feb.17 CDI \ Ranger devTopic, here is my updated version for the ranger class mechanism. After 1600+ hours spent using the class as main, I find all of this to be a suitable replacement. The following modifications may seem radical for some, but I believe this kind of design is the way of this Next-Gen era coming up, and at least it really worth to imagine.
Please provide your feedback below, I would like to know everyone’s opinion who hasn’t been satisfied with the current state.
Let’s get started! Let’s see what the class descriptions says;
Rangers are flexible and durable – proficient with the bow, yet surgical with the sword. They rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature to slay their targets. Their loyal pets, which rangers tame and train, distract enemies while the rangers strike safely from a distance. As an adventurer profession, rangers wear medium armor. Rangers are masters of their natural surroundings, and use a versatile set of skills to hunt their enemies. The rangers are also accompanied by their trusted pets, fighting in unison with their own set of pet skills to pick off their enemies one by one. Their unique attribute provides a Pet Attribute Bonus.
[Flexibility]
For first, I would highlight the core component of this overhaul.
Thieves have nice initiative points, which basically just reloading mana.
Rangers may need something same special but unique; The best alternative seems like to have “Endurance” or “Stamina”, which works the same way as initiative points, but can be used for dodge multiple times. It can be 10 or 12 points, or a redesigned endurance bar, where our actions cost % percentages of our actions. It’s may 2 barrage, or 10 continuous dodges. At the end, we’ll be nearly in the same situation as thieves. They’re killers, we’re hunters. The only difference I see is that we supposed to kill beasts/monsters in the first place. + less dark style.
Longbow: Basic war tool
Shortbow: Flexibility skirmishing on closer range
Greatsword: Mass skirmishing, brute force.
Sword: Elegant duelist style.
Axe: Used for hard skirmishing, axes swing as daggers in the hands of a thief.
Hell YES.
Brake Stealth after you take X% of your base health.
You could be still in stealth if you use it to plan ahead, not to exploit the game.
Y’know, thieves not even getting out of stealth (client not loading in) because of the latencies. And how fair it is to spam with incredible criticals? Assassins was fair.
Thieves are just an OP joke for me.
To hell with their stealth finishing, how to defend that?
I wonder what is the Dev statement on serious TP manipulations like these…
Why they not permaban and block those users who doing this?
And theye guys are not just powerselling, they’re the goldsellers who “silently” forces you to buy gold from them if you want anything real useful…
And since GemStore is just bad, AN still didn’t took control over it…

Since linen, in middle of crafting is same expensive as lvl80 armors…
You can make a level 80 exo gear about ~4g / piece
Completing 4-6 dungeon runs for the tokens are giving you the money instead of sinking it…
And for +4 +5 +0 stats, I will not craft any ascended armor piece, mostly because of the bad RNG curses me since first logged in GW1, and it still haunts me in GW2.
Only reason I’ve made asc. GS & LB is because rangers are so crap still.

I really hope it does not get rebuilt.
The Living Story needs to show that it can have a huge impact in the world- it also needs to be freed from the personal story so we can move forward to things that matter
Like- the cleansing of Orr- the treaty between the Humans and Charr, the cleansing of the ghosts etc- stuff like that, that changes and moves the world forward.
LA is too much of a comfort zone, while it stands people will always think- oh well LA is still there, how bad can it be?
btw the assets form the festivals can very easily be reused somewhere else.
Wintersday for example should always have been in Hoelbrack

“Huge impact”: Real cleansing of Orr then. Or populating the existing maps, discovering new ones (Crystal Desert), etc. Its about to Build, not to destroy.
AN can’t let us to decide which city we’ll flood. They’re developers, they need to control us, so the hub place of the game needs to be designet for large amount of players.
We’ll have serious FPS issues in other cities anyway…
Not to mention this game is still very unoptimised and ignores strong GPUs.
( +30 FPS if WvW character quality set to Lowest from High. Huh?! Okay, dummy clone toysoldiers everywhere…)
Since the game is heavy casual type, its not a problem that “LA is too much of a comfort zone”.
Assets are just pre-made models & NPCs & some content. Its very easy to move,
I wonder why not every city gets a real decoration these times, only LA…
Anyway, huge amount of us would hate AN for a +1 new reason if they decide to permakill LA… its a fact to deal with.
And you have 266,000 dmg on chickens, yeah…
You can’t produce 5-6k with LB’s LRS without being seriously buffed.
In fact, I do 2-3k with every shot, but in WvW, it hits ~1k…
I’ll release my new Ranger Overhaul in this weekend, in hope they’ll consider a new mech that suits us better.
I don’t know what the hell can we kill in normal time without critical dmgs.

True that Arc, but every game needs a core place.
LA is it in GW2, as Kamandan was in GW1 (apart from LA), but only because Kamandan was a starter area and there was the bigger chances to sell your chatspammed stuff.
Then there came a new place with last update, its not popular due its bad mapping.
SWG’s was Mos Eisley, even if it had terrible NPC spreading.
So, I would like to see the Race capitals being used, but all of them lacks the forge.
BUT we still need a lot more; A better LA as core place, and the racial cities should offer something more to keep people there. I don’t know why people don’t use them, maybe they’re just not as practic as LA. Has no portals, no dungeon vendors, no mf, no fractial entrace, and the 95% of map is just empty at options.
Let’s see Divinity’s Reach, which is number 2 place. Nice styled quarters, but nothing there to do, nothing there to buy, nothing there worth to visit.
Whole game needs huge improvements…
+1 on break stealth when taking dmg.

Yeah I’ve ment it for Longbow. It takes ages to hit the target, and in WvW, people die before first shot. Pretty awkward when shortbow has no casting time at all…

You can watch long minutes of running in circles 1v1 (in WvW, where it not really matters), and can’t kill, barely can survive. Its not skilled, its trolled.

The problem is, its 2/3 effective as Signet or Rage and recharges TWICE the time…
+ Has no passive effect at all…
All Opening Strike needs is a 100% crit chance & faster aim for the first time.
So we can hit some dmg before our buddies overkill something. Its a haste…
I’m pretty sure I out ranger as #2, but that’s cause I play an ele and know they need a little more love than us… But it’s pretty unanimous that ranger and ele are the 2 that need most work

If devs decided to destroy it, I hope it will stay this way forever … I’m tired of living world events that don’t change in any way the world. They could create another open zone with new bosses and events in the Old LA, and create a “new LA” somewhere else. There’s a lot of space on the maps that we haven’t seen yet… it’s time to expand it.
No way! Change of the world isn’t about destroying core and historical places of the game. Those world changes meant to improve, not to make everything a wasteland.
By the way, there is a huge map with huge undiscovered area, those needs to be made.
The only way we can feel the Living World is if we can conquer and build it!
So very most of us are waiting for the new and improved Lion’s Arch!
Those features are not abandoned, they’re paused. What you see is the existing preparation for them. They’ll come when possible.

Apart from my opinion, which is all the shaders looks very plastic & nearly nothing feels real,-
I think the Dye’s script should be adjusted to multiple kind of pieces to stay it being the same. So where the single line of dye’s script says 10 10 10 for Abyss, if the armor piece has metal shine (or something like that… its wet IMO), then it could be 5 5 6.
For example, my warrior’s leggings would be as black as the other parts, not grey…
I have no problem with coats. I like coats.
I have problems with the idiotic shapes they give (giant butts wth?!)
and the lack of metal parts. Everything looks curved and plastic,
no fur, no metal, no leather plates… I miss Skyrim

What?! They already stole 6% Crit DMG from me on Rune of Divinity sets.
I’m using those. Hell don’t dare to nerf it!! Its expensive for a reason, but not sharpes on berzerking or anything else, its just a celestial like sigil that keeps me good balanced O.o
Its not challanging for me at all.
When I die, its usually because its WWW and rangers are easy loot,
OR because million HP bosses have 1shotkills – supporting the “AI” called Defiance.

I’m IRL Bow-shooting;
So the true realistic would be to hit max dmg on ~300 to 800 range, but that wouldn’t be so fun to play. The current 3 staged basedamage makes you stay behind when possible, but we’re forcet to CQB most of the cases (due bugs & design).
Since ints a fantasy MMO game, we need other kind of methood that fits this combat system & supports dinamic playstyle. WIP

The current variations are balanced in price, however, these lack the “skin only” options, and the stats are just don’t have any variety at all. Above all of it, there is only one lvl 80 set…
For T4 & most of “Showoff” items, I highly recommend Challanges to unlock, not grindfest gold.

My level 80 Necro who just discovered Cursed Shore (lvl80 ONLY!) had lvl72 & 76 exotic drop from the box. WTFH?!!?!?

I would try sword+pistol combo on my Ranger.
Both main and offhand way.
Jeweller 500? We’ll make the sellable Ascended trinkets? Maybe I can regain my wasted money on this profession so far…
Cooking 500? Rare/Exotic grade foods? Just if its designed to long 1h+ and have the same or slightly more effect than the other foods now. Party Food Supply?
I use Heal as One because it heals up the most in short time.
In WvW, you can barely trust 10-sec term regens with basic start heal and slightly bigger heal output at the end. Its up to the Supporters to apply them on you. When people zerging, spreading, etc, its not likely to stay within the effect range.
Its always “2 of 3”. Want me to link a video proof of how kitten ed easy it is?
What I see in WvW is that thieves stalk/glitch in forts with very long stealth,
in fights, if they have ~50% HP, they just stealth, then seconds later they backstab 8Ks out from nothing with full HP. There is a new “Revealed” block, but due to server or client problem, the game doesn’t load them in time – when zerg fights goes on.
So they ‘nade to hit most of people, or rarely hunting fleeing ones from behind,
going to stealth, finishing the downed, stealth again, finishing the downed, stealth again, finishing the downed…
Then they even have teleport skills, a lot of evading, and cripple/blind/basilic venom…
So apart from the very risky Stealth mech in an MMO, they’re very good at assassinating. I just wish my main “broken” Ranger to be fixed to be like this – we’re the deisgnated Hunters by the way…

Yes, the faces are mostly plastic and everyone in Tyria is such young, can’t make old guys and its a hard hit on RolePlayers/Veteran RPG players.
But then, the customization options shall be improved.
