Nerf might stacking into the ground for warrior/ele/eng.
Ex
Ele : dodge in earth is no longer a blast / water 3 on dagger is no longer a blast. Now the ele loses 200-300 power and condi damage while all other classes (ranger/guard/necro/mesmer) don’t have a nerfed celstial amulet. You cant nerf blast finishers for ele war while you dont do it for engi. Engis dont use blast finishers on cele rifle so its impossible to balance things this way.
If you want to nerf them you have to do it in a fair way which reduces might stacks of all the classes by the same amount. Thats also the reason why you cant reduce the max might stacks to ~10. That way you nerf eles and wars but engis stay as strong as they are.
If you want to nerf the blas on earth dodge then compensate it by giving it 3 bleed stacks instead of 1. Then again, thats the wrong approach.
Nerf hoelbrak/str and air fire sigils, everything else will hurt other classes/specs for which the nerf wasnt intended.
Seriously, so many people on these forums with nonsense ideas just to cry for nerfs.
My point is the problem is not with the amulet as a lot of people are saying. 5 classes don’t really use it because it isn’t that great on them. By targeting changes on ele/eng/war you reduce the effectiveness of the amulet without hurting it for the other classes. Blanket nerfs on battle/strength/etc hurt every class and will lead to the exact same meta.
The reason I used ele as an example is that I alt ele and can clearly see exactly what is the reason for celestial being the meta. This might not be the reason for eng. I cannot tell exactly as I do not play eng. Someone who does can probably look through their build and find something to nerf without harming build diversity for others.

Check your dates.
Our bunkers normally don’t enter the match as their bunker character, and also experience disconnect. We normally take care to make sure if someone disconnects they atleast earn points before the match ends but could there be abandonment penalties for swapping or DCing?
Yes, disconnecting or changing professions will count as desertion, and give that player dishonor. They will also be scored on the ladder as if they had a full loss, meaning as if their team had scored 0 points.
Can you implement this only AFTER the game starts. I play 50% ranger and 50% ele and just now realized that my class swap is the reason I go down in rank after winning 10 games in a row. What do I do when I have 2 other rangers on my team? Stick with my main and 100% lose or do I swap to a better class, and then still “lose” 0-500?.
Mapchat is delayed info. If I say “2 home,” chances are they will read that when I’m dead and the info no longer has any use.
It’s not bad for competitive play….
What’s bad for competetive play are hard counters.
Every single tournament administrator and high-level player agrees that being able to change classes mid-game is bad for competitive play. You should consider why that’s the case for them but not you.
For starters, there’s no such thing as “hard counters” as long as you run a balanced comp, which is exactly what not being able to swap classes mid-game encourages.
Every team knows the comp of his team before the game starts. This is NOT the case in ranked.
You really need oakheart salve and healing spring.
The game will lose its most dedicated players.
I cannot see how the answer is 500-0 games for them demoralizing new players and casual players.
Neither is an answer.
The game will lose its most dedicated players.
My biggest problem with power is that it is good against bad players. You will beat solo queue teams. You can beat bad premades. The moment you hit a team like radioactive you suddenly become useless and do nothing but die all game.
When I see a power ranger he gets called out primary in every fight. Then the difference between the best power ranger and the worst is how much longer it takes to down him. 6-6-x-x-x may take 4s. 6-0-2-6-0 may take 12s. Either way he won’t do anything dodge rolling and sitting in GS4.
As for other builds. You can try:
2-6-6-0-0 for traps
2-0-6-6-0 for spirits
0-2-6-0-6 for BM
Those are just the bases for the three basic condi specs you can play. People will debate endlessly on the specifics so just pick stuff that makes sense.
I tried it and hated it. So little damage with no runes.
My team has given up on getting our tol2 prizes.
Maybe: Dodging in earth is no longer a blast finisher.
Does the elite res people with more hp?
I have not considered that approach before. It could be a nice support option.
There is no top tier support build for rangers at the moment. They all flounder in mediocrity.
Build above:
1) SoR condi clear?? (Prob not happening)
2) Entangle
3) Limited cc from pet.
4) Water field
5) AoE regen, swiftness, and fury
Spirits + shortbow (best option as ranger):
1) Water field
2) Burns
3) Protection
4) Limited cc
d/d ele
1) Perma 25 might stacks on ele and 12-18ish on allies.
2) Aoe heals on low cooldown
3) Aoe condi clear on low cooldown
4) Reliable cc
They aren’t mirrors of eachother, but it is apparent that the bar for support builds is set very very high. The spirits can be killed far easier than the boons can be cleansed. The entangle is an annoyance to most classes and regen is pretty abundant.

You think you won’t be high on the leader boards?
Nope, probably won’t break top 100 because I refuse to pub stomp my way to the top. My playstyle is to team queue when other teams are playing, for quality matches and to not annoy people who aren’t expecting to face an Abjured pug. I might play 25-30 games a week.
That bothers you doesn’t it
What would you suggest? I can queue up and stomp you and other unsuspecting, average players for 20 hours a week if you’d prefer. I’d definitely be top rated!
Do you see why incentivizing top teams to do this in order to stay competitive is bad?
I do not see how revamping leader boards and giving out glorious armor/llama finishers somehow is an incentive to top players
That is clearly something that is geared towards bringing in new/casual/average players
The only incentive for you guys to play and practice is money tournaments – Do you really care about the leader boards? Does it matter if you are not in the top 100?
If the system is well done I think you guys will be represented in the top of the leader boards regardless
This last part is vital to the games success. I posted this many times over the last year on the forums. Please don’t sacrifice this ideal because it is so important. Some people will QQ about it. But they have vested interests. It is so important that less skilled people who play alot are rewarded.
I think what people might be forgetting, is that we also have tournaments, ESL cups, etc. to cater to those who want skill to be the absolute determinant.
What should it be based on other than skill? Lol effort???
How do you measure individual skill of a player when they’re in a regular team?
There will be days they will queue with other people and the mmr system will adjust for the performance.
Player B is good. When he goes away for a week and the team queues without him they lose more games.
These leaderboards are pretty much the old rank system. All it tells is how much someome grinds.
You suck.
1) Water spirit is too risky. It is easy to interrupt and will die to cleave. Healing spring gives you great condi clear, the water field, and a very short cast time.
2) Settler
3) I use the combo with sword 2 to move a little faster. If you take 1 point in skirmishing you can use the swiftness on weapon swap. I also just deal with the slow move speed by making adjustments to where I am before a fast class will. Say I see 4 mid and 1 far and we kill one mid. I will then leave mid after ~10s to intercept the respawn if they go home. Otherwise I will double back onto mid or support far depending upon what the two fights look like.
I also don’t like the metabuild builds so you may find that my choices don’t reflect what is appropriate for your build. E.g. rabid + shortbow > settler + shortbow.

The best ranger in the world can beat a necro on a condi build.
Marvin has something like 10,000 games and I didn’t see him win WTS.
Clearly this guy has at reached a respectable solo queue rank at a decent win/loss. It doesn’t take 1000 games to read that. You have like 30 more games and a 51% win/loss to this guys 54%. Surely you don’t want everyone to tell you to play 300% more games before they queue with you.
(edited by Ryan.9387)
I typically run 0-0-6-4-4 sd/at geomancy/leeching/balthazar with shaman amulet. Sun/Stone/SotW optional elite wolf/river drake.
It got me to r3 of solo queue and decently far in tol2 if that matters.
What is the roster for abjured?
Phantaram, ele
Wakkey, ele
Magic Toker, thief
Ostrich eggs, engi
Five gauge, engiThat’s the team that played. They also run with Caed (thief) and noscoc (necro).
Thanks.
What is the roster for abjured?
Well the daze was my mistake. If this ever (it won’t) happened, I would abuse it even more with more pet swap cc and such. You could partner with a warrior and literally perma cc them until they died.
Aside from the mistake I made though, this combo is entirely possible without the daze bit. Moment of clarity, malicious training, stun signet, necro runes, 30-30-x-x-x etc. You can chain wolf kd into fear into gs 5 into boar f2 (25% 4s stun or 25% 8s fear) and possibly the boar kd too. This is possible right now. People don’t do it because of the lack of a reliable way to handle stunbreaks.
I don’t just make this up. Any advice I give is stuff I run, or have personally tested. Calling this exaggeration is just crap. Whether you wouldn’t run it or don’t understand it isn’t a certification this being untrue. This idea is flat out bad.

Signet of hunt, for me something like next 5 attack are unblock able so they can still counter you using blinds, dodge and invons now that would really help with melee builds would also combo better with signet of wild meaning hunt would be worth taking in some builds.
What do you think about letting the next 5 attacks daze for 0.5 sec each.
So to get this straight.
1s stun (autoattack1)
2s stun (autoattack2)
3s stun (autoattack3)
4s stun (autoattack4)
5s stun (autoattack5)
6s stun (hilt bash)
9s boarf2 or wolf fear
11s-13s chain stun ends.
Throw in shortbow 5 for extra 2s stun.
Please no.
Revert for everyone or for nobody plz.
Match me vs good people. Make me struggle for each kill. I don’t watch matchmaking handicapped because people don’t like the teams they face. MMR will sort it out anyhow.
Well the bleed was useless. I prefer the vuln.
I advise sharpened edges trait, krait runes, an earth sigil, and condi damage gear with crit chance.
Generally build condi damage and spec for bleeds.
Good suggestions all around.

CoE to salvage dire weapons for insignias.
Try archeage for bad pvp design.
You will love gw2 again.
I’ll wait and play one game dec 1st.
I guess the bounce is the main reason. People would torch 5 and autoattack 3s of burn onto targets every hit.
This is why you don’t post builds when people ask for help.
The opportunity cost of traps is too high to make them a stronger choice than the alternatives. You will probably wind up focusing on one of three different paths:
1) Spirits
2) BM
3) Precision (shortbow/rabid)
No reason to advise which is better/worse. Pick a path and build towards it. Don’t mix if you want to be fully effective. E.g. Don’t run sharpened edges and spirits/BM with immobile sun spirit/etc.

You were not online when I tried to find duel.
This is pretty cool.
People still have 60%+ win/loss ratios in solo queue…
I love this idea
Highes team q 1, current 2
Highest solo 5, current 29Thats on the US boards, which is on par with like what…rank 300-400 at best on eu? Oo
I got an alt account to #5 eu with around 40 games. It is no different than NA, at least in solo queue.
Just walk up and kill the power ranger. It isn’t hard.
Can someone linked the banned traits/skills?
Would be too strong with new axe change pumping 25 might stacks to pets.
I’ve never seen him play (on twitch, not vs), but I’d imagine he is timing his skills to your evades/heals/condi clears/weapon swaps/etc. Smart play like that is why noscoc is killing you and random necros with the exact build don’t.
kitteny wvw players who think they are better than spvp players in small scale fights.
You can get away with 5 thieves on skyhammer. Stealth pulls for days.
Sword is not a better weapon, its barely a rangers weapon. Lore matters, in Guild Wars Lore Rangers used bows. If you prefer other weapons more power to you..
However, I do not choose to accept it and play the class for its so called “strengths”. I will play it as a RANGER and maybe in time it will be fixed. Until then, I intend to use the forums for the purpose they were created. To discuss my concerns, to the community and to the game Developers.
All the facepalm… At least do the effort to look up what a ranger IS before making such silly statements.
As for the lore, GW1 rangers were never forced to use bows. Although it was its main and, for the sake of lore, preferred weapon (preferred being the actual word used in GW1), there were several viable builds in both pve and pvp using spears, daggers, hammers etc. Anet even acknowledges this by giving the ranger boss in AC Story a hammer.
Correction, in GW1 Rangers WERE forced to use bows. Ranger/Warriors, like the Aragorn reference, could use other weapons effectively. Make sure your information is completely accurate next time. =)
Low level gw1 weapons lacked reqs so anyone could use any weapon. Once the reqs came into play you got a second prof so every weapon was still open for use.
GW1 rampage as one builds with hammers, spears or daggers. Shield sets, energy sets, staff sets for spirits etc. All viable on ranger. You were not forced to use bows and in many cases bows were suboptimal.
If you care so much then why not complain about s/d theives d/d eles, mesmers, pistols, rifles, swimming, jumping, endurance, and maybe even the gold system. If lore matters don’t pick and choose what bits matter.

Win nearly all 1v1s, stalemate the rest and delay 1v2s long enough four your team to win their fights 4v3. Also stop letting points stay uncontested. Bad guys have 4 mid 1 home then go far.
