As someone who does not understands very well how ladder systems work, can anyone enlighten me on what is the difference between the current testing ladder and, say, for example, League of legend’s ladders?
In league of legends, your MMR is directly tied to your points gained per win and loss. If I was in silver V with a silver I MMR I may gain +30 for winning vs +18 if my MMR was in the silver IV range.
Because of this a person with a 50% win rate vs Silver I players (and a Silver I MMR) will move towards that division because they will gain more points for winning while their rank < Silver I and will lose more points if their rank > Silver I.
The GW2 ladder pretty much gives a point for winning and nothing for losing. A functional ladder should have abjured/radioactive/dod/etc etc in the top 100 rather than game grinders who people consider free wins when facing in ranked.
Drakes already have cleave.
The GM trait isn’t needed as you can maintain 100% regen uptime using:
healing spring + the regen duration trait + the 1 point NM minor trait
or
healing spring + oakheart salve + the 1 point NM minor trait
Bringing the shout trait logically leads to taking troll unguent. If you do you will only have emp bond, evasive purity and maybe SoR for condi clear. You will get eaten up by any player that waits for your emp bond to tick before bursting with condis. You will be more power-tanky but at the expense of condi weakness and loss of healing spring for team support.
Sotf makes you an very anti condi, with cleanses on emp bond, evasive purity, healing spring, keen edge, sharpening stone, lightning reflexes, and entangle. You can handle condi builds with the same effectiveness as a shoutbow warrior, making sotf broader than the nature’s voice build in the builds it can beat 1v1.

I look for the queue with the best players so I get the best matches. Typically that is unranked now.
I do regret playing ranger in gw2. I feel if I invested as much time into another class I could play pvp with better results.
I still love ranger though. It fits my 1v1 play style nicely.
This is a l2p issue.
Anet plz…
Steps to reproduce:
Double Damage:
Cast skills with one second burning ticks with 0% extra condition duration. Your burning will now pulse for double damage in between the first and last consecutive ticks.
Reduced Damage:
Cast skills with above one second burning ticks with greater than zero extra condition duration. Your burning will now tick for reduced damage throughout the burn.
Reproduction Rate: 100%
See screenshots for damage log proof in hotm. I do not have the trigger for reduced damage completely down but I do know that increasing condi duration will reduce your burn damage on bonfire and flame trap.
Please patch this so I can trait into condi duration again.
Thanks! These are all great improvements.
Wolf + River Drake.
Wolf for KD + Fear. Have it leap through your fire field.
Drake for f2 + Blast. Blast your healspring.
BM them, call them a noob, and add in some creative profanity when they reply.
If they are friends: Call them out on it and if they disagree inform them that you think their playstyle is incompatible with you and it would make good sense not to queue together.
Or just laugh it off, move on, and never play with that person again.
Think: What would a league of legends player say?
OP has slickshoes and needs to learn to play.
Math:
12×304 = 3648
3×335 = 1005
1×1 = 141
Grand total = 4794
Dps = 959
Pretty sure condi priority is pure RNG. I remember testing with a friend where I would apply two condis with a 1s space and the thief would clear a single one. We never found a pattern.
Condi rangers (no shortbow) should win 100% of the time.
The ele has condi clear on 1 utility skill, water swap, water 5, and water dodge. You MUST NOT waste your skills to kill the ele. Wait till the water swap, then wait for the dodge in water, then entangle. The ele has to blow cleansing fire/flash or they die. Next you apply general pressure until the ele cycles through water again, then you burst him and repeat.
As long as you stop chucking your condis onto the ele when his clears are off cooldown you will win. Doesn’t matter if the ele is the best in the world. This cooldown game can be played in only one direction as the ele is forced into a standard rotation in the name of might stacking. If you play a build that can’t bust that window after water dodge (shortbow/power) you will lose and that is expected.

I guess you can ask yourself "If I was helseth/supcutie would my team say “go play something else?”"
Play sidenode and let your friends work their magic at mid.
Condi ranger
Condi necro**

1 ranger out of 25 players?^ And you are happy for that?
Ranger is a totally broken class and you don’ t do anything to change the situation.
That’ s why it will be forever broken.
That’ s why gw2 ranger community is gone.
This is not the right place for your post.
Take the high level pvp players who don’t stream, post videos, or browse the forums. These guys are next level on their classes but a wvw player will never get to see the amazing things they pull off and therefore will think that their experience is representative of everyone.
It is an information issue. If GW2 had a lolking or an op.gg we would see a lot less whine as people could see directly the factual performance of each build/class etc.
Edit: phone too hard

Very good!
You earned it.
Don’t run shortbow, troll, muddy terrain, 2 in skirmishing, spiders, or celestial for starters. They are poor choices that will result in you underperforming.

I think druid could be anet’s attempt to make ranger viable in wvw without making it OP in tpvp. E.g. give entangle to staff but lock the elite/give boon rip but lock sotf.
Hire a consultant. Someone with experience from lol/dota/sc.
I wish:
Whirling Defense
Reflects projectiles for .5s
CD = 6s
Would give us counterplay to warrior f1 and associated aoe bs.
I wonder if the devs are waiting until you are 18 before they ban you.
From a pvp perspective:
Torch – Changes will encourage people to drop their shortbow. I’m also interested in the reaction with offhand training. If we can cover a point like warrior bow f1, that will be huge for side node play.
Warhorn – Never used in pvp, still won’t be. Decent change for wvw/pve though.
HaO – Never used in pvp, still won’t be. Base heal is too low and doesn’t beat the utility of healspring.
Why the blanket nerf to might?
Please consider nerfing the ability for single classes to stack might.
No. This will reduce pvp playerbase too much. If you don’t like the players you get, make some friends and queue with them.
@Uber
One day you say I’m bad the next you say this. Please make up your mind.
Let’s be honest – I’ve been more preoccupied with school in the past 5 months than I have with this game. I’ve played like garbage recently.Well, Jumper X did beat you, and its all over youtube.
Everytime I get a game with Cruuk I like to rile him up and he always mentions Caed scared to 1v1 me, and that he’s the best thief NA.I secretly want Cruuk to join GASM and GASM get some really good players and just beat the crap out of everyone.
But one thing you mentioned is what I think is why theres not much competition, and that’s because of college. I too haven’t played any games that much. Cant really tell whose the players to be watching out for right now.
From my games in past month, the only players I take note of are Thee Faux, Tron Jeremy, Tamamba Blackmorrow, Pink Puma, Kirin Xin, Max the Drnk Champ, Dolomite Jones, Raplion. I don’t like it when these guys are on the opposing team because it means I have to play really good and I normally lose to these guys so they good. If any teams are hiring I’d recommend these guys, and Eva Vermillion that person really underrated and really good.
If you had a full team of those guys, I bet they’d beat Abjured a few times out of 99 games.
But again, matchmaking, putting a couple weak links in a strong team and than having them face abjured is dumb. I wish I could see the data of the games Abjured played too, just to see who they playing against. I’ll tune in on sunday, so you guys better beat them and they better be playing. Better get rid of your weak links and get more strong link players. Theres plenty of them out there, they just be playing with a bunch of scrubs so it makes them appear to be scrubs but those I mentioned aint no scrubs.
Also, is this Abjured team comp? I’m assuming this is 3 of them with 2 randoms? When I was in this game, neither of those necromancers were that strong that I stood no chance against them. I remember that match very well, very kittened at deserters on my team, and I remember getting into 1v1 scenarios with the necro’s and owning them and outta the blue Toker pops up. Always Toker to the rescue, I really wanted to screenshot a finisher on one of those necro’s too. Don’t matter if Medi guard counters necro, don’t matter if Medi guard counters thief. Someone already told me I’m jack of trades master of none, I don’t main Medi guard and you’re supposedly the best necro and thief, I should be child’s play, but for those necros, he had a run for his money.
If you go with the comp I told you guys to go with, you’ll beat that comp in that screenshot.
One last thing, I think maybe one reason if any Abjured has 99 wins (so stupid) is because people quit right away when they see really good players on the other team.
I’ve had teams that I thought we’d win because we had good players, but somehow the bad team beat us, and if that’s possible than its possible to beat Abjured once out of 99 games with a solo que pug. I don’t believe anyone is that good to win 99 games, they have to had people leave right away.
Hence why these developers need to turn on that dishonor if they haven’t already. It’s been turned off long enough, time to turn that kitten “ON”. Make people force to fight and pull out a win out of there kitten .
Puma, the players I queue with, and I are a tier below abjures/radioactive/dod. We lose to them.
I feel you become a solid player if you get around champ title on a class playing one or two builds.
Around 20-30 the skill usage begins to feel natural.
Around 50-60 you start to use the skills properly.
Past that and you refine your play with an eye towards specific situations.
Taking a build designed to teamfight and buffing it (or nerfing others) to win side node is the same mentality that led us to this meta. You should not win those fights.
While engie/ele could use balancing, it should not be done in order to allow you to play every point just like those builds do now.
Also convers conditions into boons when traited (which it always is).
2x longbow rangers (not 100% glass, maybe 70-80%)
1 mercy rune resbot spirit ranger.
2x sotf condi ranger
1 sotf goes home, 1 mid. Resbot and 2x power three push far at start. Pick up extremely strong duelists to hold points and have power rangers roam like thieves concentrating around resbot’s point. Use the 3x far to get an early kill and prevent a large 4v4 teamfight.
In my opinion, the lack of “top team” rangers is no evidence of it being balanced or underpowered. To the contrary, no one wants to be seen as using an easy mode class.
Yes, I’ve argued this point before. However much the ranger apologists scream otherwise, the class is OP at the moment.
There is absolutely no reason to compound it by making it even harder to close a ranger. Yeah right, add mobility to their already overstuffed suite of powers.
Really????
You have no idea what playing at a high level is like.
Note: There is game audio for the second and third duels.
This video demonstrates the effectiveness of watching tells and reacting to your opponent’s play. By knowing what you are facing and fighting their build and play, you can turn a matchup that metabattle describes as a counter
Counters
• Heavy CC
• A well played D/D Ele should have the upper hand, but it’s not an impossible matchup.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger_-_S/T_%2B_A/D_Condition
Into one where the celestial elementalist has no chance of winning regardless of personal skill.
I show three duels in three different situations:
1) Solo queue
2) Private duel
3) Full team queue
While I cannot attest to the skill of the elementalists in the first and third duel, I queue with the person from the second duel often enough that I know he is a good elementalist.
In an effort to represent ideal play, I opted not to include fights where I played poorly by failing to count dodges/condi clears etc. The end result in those fights still wound up with wins, but the fights themselves took twice to three times as long as the duels in this video.
Even with these fights there were numerous mistakes on my part. I’m keenly aware and am making an effort to improve my play further.
For these fights I used a SotF build tuned for side node play. Special focus is put on heavy sustain in order to survive against any single opponent.

Did you mean “he said DIRE is the best”?
Btw Dire > Cele (no might = no dmg on cele)
I’ll take spirit buffs!
Ranger is strong on skyhammer. Take longbow and shoot people off the map.
Other rangers
Condi thief/mesmer
Players I don’t recognize
The ele combo does not give more damage. It does give more health but is a high skill combo that separates good players from the best.
Nothing wrong with going far especially if you can win your 1v1. The only problem is when idiots push into a turret engi, die 1v1 or waste 10 min fighting him instead of letting him afk and make it 4v5 on 2 other points.
This is the proper view for farpoint. ALWAYS punish the empty point but never waste your time fighting a camped node if you don’t have decap.
Who are you?
Lixicety is former rank 1 ranger NA on the previous leaderboard. ( 33 right now)
This is your top 100 ranger.
Eura doesn’t even play anymore.
Usually to practice.
Melee pets leap to enemies with 300 additional range. Ranged pet projectiles travel twice as fast. Pigs can turn during their charge. Hyenas deal double damage to downed players.

Teams will do two things to you:
1) They will just ignore you all game and play 5v4 on the other two points. They will back cap when you leave to help mid and then hold decap or run when you come back.
2) They have an appropriate anti turret class (staff ele/dd ele/etc) and will have them back cap and kill you.
You still provide value to your team though. The ability to 1v1 and have a solid tank 1v2 is huge in a match. There are niche situations where a turret engie becomes integral to your success (giving allies reflecting turrets during enemy lich form or ledging player). Go ahead and learn it!
Play ranked or unranked and your mmr will settle to a point where you are matched with appropriate players.
Hotjoin is where people test builds, get dailies, and duel. It won’t teach you much with the 5v4s and zerging that you will experience.
