The IB meta (2xE, T, W, G) was about synergy. Everyone had a simple and easy to provide role while doing near maximum dps. It was the more efficient composition for casual runs even in pug (if they knew they job, which they did most of the time at lv 50 fractals). And please note, that none record run has ever used this party composition (I hope that means something to you).
IB was OP, everyone knew it and everyone said it. But was not a bug, so what was the problem for using it? I knew people who refused to use it (same way with FGS), they just made their own LFG. The problem here is that we all like to PHIW. Fortunately there is a tool for that. So I never understand where the problem is/was. Your beloved nike demonstrated how fast a LFG “everyone is welcomed” fills.
Oh I also think you have a L2P problem, go learn to melee. And please, change your attitude.

Hi, right now I am playing Rev but I am sure I will come back to my beloved engi.
I was wondering whether anyone has crunched some numbers after food nerf regarding condi engi. Is sinsiter still the way to go or viper is better?

Just did a lv 50 with a pug. So cute, one asked if me (ele) and an engi knew each other and were on TS because how well we played togheter… (actually we managed to do a sub 30min). So I answered that the thing is that we know the content for so long…
Is anyone excited with hot-fractals? Cause now that we know that we wont get new ones, I am quite kittened

Fractals = sinister since fights actually last long enough for condis to ramp up and is more survivable when you don’t have to deal with sword AA.

Not only this but bosses in later level should start to have scaling toughness, meaning condis will become more and more effective compared to direct damage with increasing the Fractal level.

About the minions thing, could it mean ranger rune will be a good cheap alternative to scholar again ?
Edit : for ranger, mesmer and possibly, Golem necro… or the possible new Meta turret engi

Tbh I dont have much interest into doing the same fractals I have been doing last months. I am seriously considering not to buy HoT, at least til we have new instanced content.

We got a fractal lv50 buyer with 324 AP trying to bargain the price. So wierd, I think it was a second account or something.

I am not convinced with condi engi. I am still feeling mobs melt too fast to allow condi build to be competitive. Sure, on some bosses things are different, but globaly I still prefer power build (which also have more utlity by the way).

Sadly it still is. Pretty much afk faceroll even at mossman/archi and so on thanks to absurd amount of aegis/protection/reflects and still 25 might with good dps just from autoattacking with hammer.

Actually, I am asking these because I don’t think those benefits are enough. Engi can prestack might, and Rev can provide fury for instance, with a lot more of utility. Glyph of storm without icebow is not that necessary (a burst of vulnerability won’t be that important).

Would ele.be out of the meta if icebow.is nerfed?

Tools is not that good. If they fix gyros I’d glady pick scrapper line (= we are going to kick thiefs out of the meta). And dreaming…please, nerf Icebow once for all.

Pugged a lv40 with a staff/GS mesmer… What a kitten troll. My fault tho, I should have left on sight.
So I tried to pug a lv50, LFg was for zerk ele and one guard (thief, war and ranger inside). I joined and polity asked if they mind to ping their gear cause I just had an horrible experience at lv40… Silence… Silence… Longbow.

Ironically, this is the version I often see in Pug:
- A Thief exhausts all of his initiatives to spam pistol whip because he cannot survive and deal damage (seriously?) without it. Defiant Management means they will stay P/P and camp headshot then call it a day.
- A Guardian uses aegis selfishly and blatantly ignores the warrior next to him with 6 bleed stacks, 4 Burning stacks, 8 Vulnerability and 2 Confusion. Also the random Empower and flying orbs for flavors?
- A War camps long bow 80% of the time because let’s face it, it takes a PvE God to melee a boss in fractal with gsword (/s). Or when they do, they don’t dodge the obviously big attack and blame it to lag, bug, or BS. More notably, they would suggest to burn the last boss in the Dredge fractal with one bucket but proceed to camp longbow anyways!
- An Ele drops the ice bow, confidently runs next to the boss, unleash Ice Storm, then Volley, and then… Deep Freeze. What gives?!! Said ele also has the balls to tell people to stop melee the boss because apparently her Fire Ball damage is far more superior and it’s more important to walk the boss to a next bucket than actually trying to burn it.

To be honest, if someone has the gut to play Necro, Ranger or Engineer in my Fractal pug, I will take them more seriously than those people who join with a meta class and tell me to “chill, I know what to do in this game” when facing my questions.

I hardly see that on lv 40 and 50. Anyway, nothing more to add here. There are bads pug and good pug, and with this party composition I tend to have smoother runs. As I said, a matter of probabilites.

The good thing of asking for 2ele, guard, war and thief is that everyone tends to know his role. It may be not optimal for all fractals, sure, but at utility level:
- a thief probably will manage defiant, blind and stealth you.
- guardian probably will give you aegis and stab at the right time, also reflects.
-war will give you might and banners.
-eles will provide ice bow and proper use of glyphs.
and all of these always helps, no matter the fractal.

As I love engis, is not rare that I asked for 2 ele, war, guard and thief/engi… The difference is abysmal. No smoke fields, no defiant managment, no blinds etc etc.. To find a good engi is very very hard.

Again, a matter of probablities…. 2ele, guard, war and thief is the safest bet, by far.

In fact, safest bet is still good old 5 hammer guardians party. 20-25min per 50 fractal and almost complete invulnerability in most cases. Pugs dropped them after symbol bug nerf, but composition still working.

That was pretty fun XD. I’d like to try a 5 ele composition tho.

Did 5 Necro not long ago with half the group not really knowing how to play their necro (bunch of people who got the chars but never really played) Finished in !45 mins with a nice smoothish run ( I summoned them all to their deaths at Mai Trin :b)

Surprising how easy it was.
