Can someone point me to a video? I cannot seem to find one.
Druid is a name only.
berserker is very common.
reaper(dark knight) is very common.
chronomancer is a thing in japanese RPG.
what do you propose then?
I do not have an issue with the name but just for fun,
Nature Guardian
Beast Master
Forest Whisperer
Staff wielding hippy
Forest or nature Spirit
A Forest/Nature Fury
Tree Spirit
Leaf Thrower
Rotten Tree protector
The Pale Tree Warrior
Forest Knight
Slow moving Tree Stump Caster
Branch Attacker
Twig Shaker
The Salad Shooter
I rather have something way more fun then shapeshifts, as I said before controlling your pets sounds far more interesting at this point.
Yes. You might find it informative to read in the Wiki how Living Story works.
Good luck.
I did, but it is no different then what others said here. Anyways thanks for the info.
So you do not unlock the entire season just episodes of the seasons?
It was unlocked by logging in during the active time of each chapter. If you did not log in during those two weeks (or longer for a couple of chapters), then that chapter will cost gems. Any chapter you logged in for — didn’t have to play, just had to fully load into the game for a second or two — will remain accessible and will not be charged in the bundle of chapters you buy.
Once unlocked you have it forever, for all your characters on that account, even those not yet made. They can play the chapters once they are 80, with no prerequisite of doing the Personal Story.
That does not make sense if season 2 was out when I logged in then I should have season 2 why would it be only for 2 weeks?
I meant to say type they’re!
Awesome advice thanks again guys really!
I thought it was unlocked if you bought the game at all which I did a while back, or do I need to be level 80 first? And does that mean I have it for all my characters?
So after the expansion release season 2 will only be in the store? I will no longer have free access to it? I do not mind paying for them in the future its just thats like what 10 more dollars on top of the 60 for the expac if I want to see the previous story before I start season 3.
Thanks for all the info, but this thread went bad quickly.
Take a piece of paper and draw a circle on it. Now write inside it “I Win!”.
Cut out the circle and paste it on your chest.See how little the reward you get is from little effort?
The effort required for the best you can get in game should be the most or hardest in the game.
You know I did not ask you to come into my thread and be rude to me, and stop assuming, I am far from instant gratification, but guild wars 2 is not the only game I play, geesh.
Honestly I feel like we may have some kind of summoning with the staff, and I think if anything their may be a mix of close range and long range like many of the weapons the ranger has.
Hmmm thanks all, I would play norn but I do not think they make sense as guardians plus they run so slow, no charr for sure I am saving char for something else( not sure yet ). So it comes down to asura or sylvari the pics of them dont look bad, the armor is atleast interesting I am just not sure if I really like it on sylvari. How are sylvari guardian animations?
Thanks for the info but I am still fairly sure the playstyle looks more like a heavy armored ninja in your face style of play with more defensive options.
And what is the playstyle? I have watched vids and it kind of reminds me of a heavy meleed ninja depending on what weapons your using, I love how they are being original I do not think I ever seen a class like this but this is a strange concept to me. As far as the magic does it seemed very subtle, but the melee looks really good.
So wanting to try guardian due to the magic/melee style of play and debating mostly between asura, human, and sylvari, but I usually find humans boring to play. So which of these races has the more fitting guardian armor?
If you could give me your opinion I would appreciate it thanks:)
it would be. that’s always been a Blizzard thing though, and id love to see the druid in the next D3 expansion. the ranger is a mess in GW2 and doesn’t feel like anything tbh.
Slight side tangent to this topic. I doubt Druids will be in D3. They were already in Diablo 2 and Barbarian has been the only class to be in multiple Diablo games.
I usually love druids but I found them boring in diablo 2.
Ok so 3 years is not to long? I am sorry but that is insane, I have played many mmorpgs never heard of things that take more then 6 months to get.
Nah, you can craft one in like 3 months if you really wanted it. It all comes down to how much time/effort/gold you want to put into it.
Can you get it while working towards other stuff or is it extremely grindy? I suspected that that was off, arena net is not like that from what I have seen, is it just a grind or
a little of column A, quite a bit of column B
theoretically, a legendary is supposed to prove your mastery of all aspects of the game:
the gift of mastery, requires you to have done a good amount of WvW, 100% world completion, 200 skill points (though now it is spirit shards, making it a reward for dailies),and a LOT of karma (events) (thoughnow you can use fractal relics and laurels)
sadly, it all goes downhill from there, the gift of <legendary> only tests your ability to make gold, spam dungeons, and hoard materials.
the gift of fortune is MEANT to be acquired over time, but is practically unfeasible, it requires 250 of ALL t6 drops. I killed over 300 skelk last night for powerful blood for my future revenant’s exotic zerker gear. I got THREE, doing nothing but grinding, and this is for1/8th of the mats needed.
and the final, most utterly STUPID part, the part that should have resulted in the person being fired on the spot for even suggesting it: the precursor, requiring no skill to get, just sheer luck. the single most expensive part of the legendary, not because of skill, not because of effort, but because of luck and market manipulation.
honestly, the ONLY part of the legendary that feels legendary is the gift of mastery, they should have just made it that and a simple white weapon as a precursor, making it not legendary for the cost, but because the person using it is YOU
I can maybe see this issue if you only play one character but as others said it doesnt take that long, if you grind for mats you can get others for your other characters as well.
wasnt uinique adressed at you Ryou:
Just to all cause cause there are still enough people in game that link their legendary at map chat and wondering why no response or only [toilet paper] is linked for there show off
a legendary isnt something special in gw2
Well that certainly explains it.
and always remember: craft/buy a legendary is only worth if you really like the skin by yourself ( or you really want to switch the stats often…) cause nobody will stop in this game and whisper to you: " wow you got an legendary. awesome job. well done!"
Lol this is likely true, however its ok I do not need anyones approval but its certainly welcomed!
I misread the post thinking it was for pvp so I deleted it, anyways some classes are suppose to have more dps, some offer more utility, I do not see the issue personally with this, if they are op then I am sure arena net will look into it but they have allot on their plate right now and people are not being patient, they are people to you know.
Personally it does not bother me, if a class is easy to play for me, then id rather not play it anyways, I actually like having to work at it. And that is fine that some people enjoy a more relaxed playstyle, really you have to ask yourself what is so risk/rewarding about playing something easier to you compared to something you actually have to work for? That is real risk/reward, I wonder if people really understands what that means. And again I am not saying that the classes are easy to play, but some are easier to me then others if that makes sense.
(edited by Ryou.2398)
Elementalist Staff is the “typical” mage class of MMORPGS.
big, spikey, AoE damage.
get over it.
You know people do not listen to others who are being rude. Instead of getting upset with the op be respectful and explain it otherwise why bother?
The point is you have traits called nature magic, there is nothing set in stone to say that the ranger is not a good mix of martial and magic.
it would be. that’s always been a Blizzard thing though, and id love to see the druid in the next D3 expansion. the ranger is a mess in GW2 and doesn’t feel like anything tbh.
They are jack of all trades master of none really, and some of us enjoy that, not everyone wants to play a class they can master with just a few builds and buttons.
Thanks everyone good advice here. Very helpful I will follow the video guides for sure.

Well this sucks I just got the game and I do not even know how many we already get for each class, would of been nice to have more time.
I ask because I want the kudzu for my ranger eventually but I hear allot of bad things about legendary in game and it scares me away from wanting to get into crafting at all, I did check the prices which was above 2000 gold I am not sure how hard it is to earn that amount honestly.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kudzu
If anyone could provide me some facts I would greatly appreciate it thank you:)
Why do people demand that the Ele get a close-range spec when it already has one? I swear, no one seems to play DPS Dagger Ele.
Thats not it at all, I like using real melee attacks like a true battlemage its just one of my favorite playstyles, it has nothing to do with playing a dagger build effectively.
Now when I say Druids will probably get shape shifting I mean as one skill, it’d probably end up being something like rampage but you turn into like an oakheart, or a big bear or something along those lines, I’m not saying it’s going to be “press F1 to turn into X and F2 to turn into Y.” It won’t be the focus of Druid, it wont be required, but it’ll probably be something.
And having the Druid shape shift into something other than an animal WOULD be unique for the most part since very few games allow shape shifters to turn into anything but animals.
@Ryou so your argument is that the classes themselves aren’t unique but he animations are? How does that make shapeshifting any less of a possibility? And we already have skills that transform characters into something else, and in many cases they’re very powerful skills (EX: Lich Form, Rampage, Plague, Moa Morph) it’s not adding a brand new mechanic to the game, and they could very easily make it unique especially if it was a limited time transformation.
Well you did not make that clear, but why would you even want that? That is a very lazy and boring design as I said earlier that is an after thought.
If Anet is trying to go for the high fantasy Druid like WP was suggesting, then we will get shapeshifting since that has ALWAYS been a key point of Druids in fantasy. It all depends on whether or not Anet is going full on spell casting or if we are going to totally embrace high fantasy Druid.
And judging by how close GW2 ranger is to DnD ranger/Druid, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if our elite glyph was a shape shifting skill.
Shapeshifting isn’t ALWAYS a part of the druid class in fantasy. It’s a common aspect of them in a few very popular games but it isn’t universal.
GW1 druids were nature spirits and did not shapeshift in the game, Warlords Battlecry series druids are nature casters and summoners, Might and Magic franchise druids are nature mages who mainly use elemental spells, Magicka druids summon treants and use elemental spells, etc.
Now you may be able to argue MOST games have druids as shapeshifters, though that would be hard to argue as I doubt either of us have played every game in which druids appear, but it’s certainly not a universally agreed upon rule.
Another thing to consider is shapeshifting is in after thought in everquest 2 you could shapeshift and it was effective but seriously boring, it was not even close to immersive or fluid was world of warcrafts shapeshifting. Atleast when I played it, they are not making an entire new class here so if people expect want shapeshifting it wont be very good as as fun as the original class.
I doubt the shapeshift thing will happen I do think the control your pets might happen if you watch wooden potatoes theories it is quite interesting and very possible. The thing is guild wars 2 is not trying to be like wow or everquest 1 or 2 so their druid will need to be different.

Your only dreaming at this point, the point was mmorpgs try not to copy each other in classes as little as possible when it comes to western mmorpgs, and this isnt dnd and if you want to be technical dnd druids had far more then just shapeshifting they could control some of the elements, and even shapeshift into some them, regardless of druid origins of dnd it does not mean shapeshifting is likely, guild wars 2 tries to make the classes more unique then other mmos anyways so shapeshifting is not likely.
Yes, because Warrior, Guardian, Ranger, Thief, engineerand Necromancer are so much more unique than your stereotypical Warrior, Paladin, Ranger/Hunter, rogue, engineer/tinker and stereotypical dark magic user.
The only prof in the game that is even doing something different from the stereotypical RPG classes is Mesmer, who is using the enchanter/illusionist thing which is almost NEVER seen in anything, and ele who is not only capable of using earth and air magic (very rare for most MMOs), but they also use ALL the elements instead of just specializing in one.
Anet isn’t reinventing the wheel, and they’re not even remotely pretending to, they’re just taking the same wheel and putting their own fancy decal onto it. Just because they’re trying their own thing doesn’t mean Druid won’t shapeshift, or that it won’t use magic (it’s already been established they will), they’ll probably end up shapeshifting into nature spirit type of things instead of animals, and use a mix of martial with magic. They won’t stray too far from the established theme or else they risk angering people who want to play that archetype, but that won’t stop them from tweaking it a little.
Ok your misunderstanding me im talking about in the animations and and etc, not the actual class mechanics and even some of those are unique, I have never seen an elementalist in any game with such unique animations for example. And it does stray away because controlling your pets makes more sense, if they do shapeshifting they would have to change allot in the engine itself because they have to come up with unique transformations and animations that do not exist in the game. I never said it wont use magic I am saying shapeshifting will not be there why would they put something in that already exists in another popular game? They would be accused of cloning big time. Why do you think they made the ranger more like a lord of the rings ranger then a hunter?
And mesmer is not unique, enchanter/illusionist/corecer exists in everquest 1 and 2 and a few other mmos.
I doubt the shapeshift thing will happen I do think the control your pets might happen if you watch wooden potatoes theories it is quite interesting and very possible. The thing is guild wars 2 is not trying to be like wow or everquest 1 or 2 so their druid will need to be different.

Sure you can sit back and auto attack with longbow all day while pet attacks, but it takes skill to master melee in dungeons and etc, and then there is pvp, I think longbow is a bit more interesting in pvp.
I think anyone who just uses longbow will get bored, if anything the weapon needs to feel more involved.
I doubt the shapeshift thing will happen I do think the control your pets might happen if you watch wooden potatoes theories it is quite interesting and very possible. The thing is guild wars 2 is not trying to be like wow or everquest 1 or 2 so their druid will need to be different.
Man those are awesome its just a big race they move so slow! Maybe I will try it.
One last question what story choice should I go for to fit closer to rangers and should I choose the weather device?
Wow thanks for the replies all you guys rock, I think I will go asura.
I am so conflicted on race choice, on one side asura long bow animations and others rock and look allot more alive and less static but I do have mixed feelings on greatsword animations vs humanoids. However I cannot seem to get into the race including my character, they are egotistical and the fact rangers are connected to nature by theme.
Then on my sylvari the longbow animations are static and way less lively but the others look good.
How did some of you make sense having an asura ranger?
Ok one more question do any races look better for using a long bow? I am using the male sylvari and it just looks so static and bland animations wise, I am trying to stay away from asura because well I cannot get into the stories and dislike the personality, I also cannot say I like the smaller weapon scaling, I have the feeling the animations would be different.
Thanks all for the answers I do want to play an engineer some day but not as of right now due to wanting something more magical or nature looking like the druid.
You are getting way way to over defensive sir, I have plenty of room to talk he stated this , maybe try playing Guardian instead. It’s a lot easier to play in my opinion, but also very enjoyable and rewarding. How does that not imply that I might have an easier time with guardian? Do you not know the true meaning behind imply? It is very clear in the structure of the entire sentence.
The “but” means that “easier” is a negative, which implies that he is advising guardian because it’s fun and rewarding, not because it’s easier. You have taken that as some kind of implication that your skills are not up to the task of a “harder” class like mesmer, when it in no way implies that. That’s the principal point, that you’re taking words of people about advising an “easier” class to be a statement about your abilities, when that isn’t true!
And why does it matter so much? I did not insult him in any way, nor was I offended but clearly you are.
Given that you have multiple times misinterpreted and even taken things said by my fellow forum-goers as a personal insult, I am responding as a member of a community to inform you that your reaction to that community is inappropriate, insofar as you are incorrectly interpreting their words.
In more general terms, I regard it as the responsibility of any member of a community to help facilitate communication within that community, to defend fellow community members against unwarranted attacks, and to provide assistance to fellow community members as time allows and need warrants.
In short, I’m responding to you because I feel your behavior warrants it, and I have so far had the time to do so (whereas those you are responding to don’t necessarily).
What? Many times? You have no clue what your talking about and lets be honest here your looking for an internet fight, that is literally all you are doing, your picking a fight with something you are clearly wrong about and with someone you hardly know. It does not matter how you feel about me when you are wrong. You are truly reaching, and your insecurities to feed your ego are extreme. And if you really cared about your forum members as you said your post history would be far nicer then it appears, and you would not be doing this in public, this is really about you being called out.
I love how you state these things with no explanation, I had very few issues in these forums, maybe some of you are just over senstitive online and are misreading me. And that is very ironic.
I agree to disagree on what you think imply means.
(edited by Ryou.2398)
Whatever the case is the answers have already been given in the thread from many people.
“I just hit level 21 so I am barely traited…”
Get to 80 and play with a full set of traits, or jump into pvp and test the class out there. You can’t see how it will play when not having access to all the traits.
Yes and again id like to thank everyone again since it seems I am ungrateful, I very well might do this.
Actually he did clearly state the guardian was easier therefor is implying I found it easy, however I did not take offense many consider mesmer to be the advanced class and no one knows my mmorpg experience nor did or should I expect him to.
What? No, that makes absolutely no sense.
He said:
“It’s a lot easier to play in my opinion”, which implies absolutely nothing about how easy or not you find the guardian, since it’s his opinion.
“but also very enjoyable and rewarding”, which means that it’s enjoyable and rewarding even though it’s easy, so easy would not be a reason to not take guardian, which implies absolutely nothing about how easy or not you find the mesmer, because it is simply saying that he finds guardian fun and worthwhile even though it’s easier. There is no assumption in the statement at all about your feelings on the mesmer, except that I think it’s likely he included the “good even though easy” part because you got all fired up about someone suggesting an easier class (guardian) earlier.
You’re getting after Oberon Vex for reading things into your posts that you say aren’t there, but your blatant misreadings are themselves so inappropriate that you have no room to talk!

Man I do not understand why you guys misunderstand my post, it is not that I found it hard, which I do not at all I have been playing mmorpgs for ages and I usually play the top complex classes so that is not an issue plus I just play allot of rpgs as a whole. The issue was the feel and playstyle of the class itself. That is why I titled it I do not think mesmer is for me:)
I will admit I think part of the issue is I can never get into female characters and I thought it the powers looked odd on males for me, so I rolled a female. And no this is not an insecurity I just do not prefer purple in general, but it helped looking at a hot lady while doing it:)
1. No one can change how you FEEL about the playstyle, as such, this thread has little value for discussion.
2. Several players here have given you actual advice for improving your mesmer experience that you have ignored.
3. you are behaving very negatively so don’t imagine more people will continue to give you advice out of the goodness of their hearts
Also note that Velimere’s advice boils down to “it’s easier BUT it’s fun and worth it.” In which case, he’s not telling you to it because it’s easy, he’s telling you to do it in spite of that fact.
Actually he did clearly state the guardian was easier therefor is implying I found it easy, however I did not take offense many consider mesmer to be the advanced class and no one knows my mmorpg experience nor did or should I expect him to.

What makes you think I ignored it? I already clearly posted a thank you about the advice, and said maybe I will continue leveling the mesmer.
I was very polite perhaps you should reread as you clearly missed a few things with what I said above, it was not insulting or negative in any way, your reading way to much into what I typed.
