how ever no one wants to run cm 45 times a day just so one guy can get armor….or AC…or COF…or SE….
There are tons of dungeons in game, each have their own set of coins. This forces players to have to re-run one dungeon over and over and over again. The problem with this is that people get sick of one dungeon and move on, then you have to use external sites to get people to run that one dungeon.
Why not:
Make one universal dungeon coin, then we could run what ever dungeon as many times as we want and then we could go to the appropriate vendors to get what ever armour we wanted….
Why all the different coins?
MF is broken from a team perspective. Why someone who contribute near to nothing should get best reward from a mob killed by others?
Is not your fault others don’t have MF? Then go and kill stuff yourself, is not my fault you are worthless.
However, any build is worthless in the wrong hands. I would prefer 100% of the time to play with 4 good players with MF than wasting my time with a bunch of worthless CG who spend more time in the ground that doing damage.
because we put the gear on and we do nothing, now go kill something so i can get an exotic
I do not agree with this post at all, I run a pur MF and GF armor set, depending on the set, its not my fault you don’t….why should I have to share?
they could instance the area, so that players who beat him could see the new changes and those who didnt could still do so….
So ziaten is dead…..(accept not as hes still flying around and such….) … but story wise he is dead. what happens to orr now? is there anything printed to state what happens?
I’ve read about some of The Lore in gws. I’m really interested in it but as I actually play the game I feel disconnected from it everywhere besides the personal story. I just complete hearts and dynamic events and get very little of the story behind it all. It almost feels empty. Anyone else get that feeling/any tips to keep emerged in the story?
read about rin then go to the char starting city, the rin ruins that are there – I never felt more connected doing the jumping puzzle and walking through what use to be some ones hall way.
go swiming in LA, explore the old LA, what use to be – if you played GW then the layout underwater is identical….
They dead. Didn’t you play GW1? We committed genocide.
In a bit more seriousness – the only known mursaat to have survived was Lazarus the Dire, and since (as far as we know), you kind of need two mursaat to make baby mursaat, he’s probably the last. And we don’t know how old mursaat can be, so it’s completely plausible he’s a deader.
I did play and I remember slaughtering them like dogs. But I was wondering if they existed any more.
I play the game like this:
do personal story leading to zihtan an then head to the southsun cove and then do the frost story.
my question is, is there any point in me, with my play style of doing southsun cove, since months ago they did the “one time only event”?
it doesnt matter that gw 1 was instanced or not. why do they not patrol here.
where did they go? where are they now? do we see them? can we interact with them?
Is there any lore to this? is ascended suppose to mean something?
as stated in the blog, if you would read it, it doesn’t matter the size of the guild.
Actually, it says:
Not to worry—all these missions take place in the persistent world, which gives you the ability to rally people from the surrounding countryside and maybe make some new friends in the process!
So if your guild is small, you can’t do the guild missions (at least some of them) without some outside help. These are apparently tuned for some ideal minimum number, but there’s not really an indication what that minimum is. Multi-group coordination, that’s mentioned in several of the types, seems to hint that the number is at least 10.
if you cant get more then 15 people interested in your guild, why start one?
yay – stupid people rejoice!
Any ways, Ya I was not going to read all that, but from your summary.
I can understand why ele would benefit from health since they are so squishy. while it makes no sense for the toughness aspect to affect the ele.
5 people is considered small >.>
It looks pretty interesting. I’m wondering how this will scale for my little 5-man guild. Will we be able to run any of these, or is our guild too small?
as stated in the blog, if you would read it, it doesn’t matter the size of the guild.
i dont care about some, i care about all – like in gw1 when ALL enemies patrolled.
In Guild Wars 1, you had instanced areas, not persistent areas. It makes all the difference in the world. Because enemies never spawned in Guild Wars 1, they couldn’t patrol. Naturally, in instances in Guild Wars 2, like dungeons, enemies do patrol.
But when you add in the respawn rate in the open world with what a patrol would do (hint: people already complain about the respawn rate in certain areas), then patrols are much harder to predict.
At any rate, there are some creatures that patrol, including the giants in Orr.
There are not enough creatures, for example a group of jutons are standing around a patch of carrots they are farming. If I am careful enough I can get in, get the carrots and get out. In GW1 i would have to worry because they would be farming, they would be walking about, they would be guarding – not just standing there.
This goes for npc’s in towns and cities, a lot of them, especially merchants, just stand around. Don’t they have other people to go see? things to do?
In oblivion and skyrim you had wondering creatures and npc’s the same could easily be don here. instanced or not.
As for the issue with dungeons and fractals, no im sorry, enemies just stand in their rooms or their spots, they don’t patrol the dungeon.

It doesnt. GW2 was advertised as a living, breathing world. It isnt. Just a few scripted events here and there, nowhere near enough to give that feeling.
All games are “scripted events here and there”…
In some ways, i agree. But what did you expect? Skynet like AI? Learning NPCs?
No what I expect is like GW1, where they roamed, some, like some do now, even hunted or engaged other enemies in the patrol path.
Where I see a group of dredge, I can easily take one on, and leave the other 60 alone…..that doesn’t seem right.
I was in the dredge hills, in fact I’m any where, and the enemies just stand there and scratch them selves. even the juton they just stand around. The sons of savior (what ever its called) also just stand their.
In GW1 enemies use to roam in pacts and it use to be some what of challenge if you got mobs that intersected. even in dungeons they roamed. I feel like im in WOW >.> the reason I say that is because enemies just stand around in that game.
is there a reason for this? I do see some enemies patrol but it’s not like GW1
What do you like about the lore in gw1 as opposed to how things have changed in gw2?
what do you think will happen with all our characters and stuff? I mean some of us worked super duper hard to get what we got
Do you guys think they will ever shut down the gw servers?
while gw2 is amazing I find it interesting to go back and play a mesmer after playing one in gw2
I do sometimes go back to the original gw with all its expansions, as I have yet to beat the last campaign, NF, What about you guys, do you ever go back? if so why?
I am looking for a guild on this server, I have had a few guilds message me from other severs, and at this time 1800 gems is about 30$, 30$ I’m not willing to spend unless its for taking those gems and making them into gold.
With that said I am looking for a fun, active 21-40 year old guild. One thing I request is that we like running dungeons and fractals and are a helpful guild.
Let me know peeps!
this was a very fascinating read, how ever it left more questions unanswered.
What happened to the islands? Where are the Zaishen? Who was the old wizard? How is it that we are teleported into a factal dungeon and then out again – whats the main reason for going into them (again, lore wise)
Where do the gods come into all this? they helped shape tyria – does this mean with access to the mists we might get access to them?
any way I can get a hold of you in game?
What are fractals? no I dont mean in game dungeons that we all run for ascended gear. I mean lore wise. What are they? why are they here? how did we discover them? whats the story?
Mist Wars, WVW – what is it? – again I dont mean the obvious, I mean lore wise, How did they start? why do they rage? can we give peace treaties?
Guildwars 1 has its….GuildWars in the lore, it had kritan fighting orr fighting ascalon until the char were like rawr and the old mage was like kaboom on orr.
But how did we gain access to the mist? is there some greater plane of existence beyond this? are their gods here?
whats the lore?
Looking for a highly active, populated, mature guild on the maguma server. This guild should have interest in dungeons, fractals and WvW.
If you think I would be the right fit for your guild please in game mail or message me.
Do what I do: gems = gold
I don’t grind. I just buy gems and exchange them for gold 8 gold does me wonders
I have to say with nerfs comes buffs, with buffs come nerfs.
perfect balance
So there has been a dragon, or two, a giant tidal wave and some flooding. Every where I look the closest to GW I get is the ruins in LA, they are the most preserved ruins of the old game I can find……
its been 250 years, there has to be more that survived no?
Just throwing this out there, but they may nerf your build/playstyle enough to make you have to change how you play completely by getting a new equipment set. This = an awful lot of grind.
With ascended coming out I need to make it very clear what build I’m going to stick with so I’m not SOL and have to do weeks of grinding repetitive dungeons to change it.
when it comes to this all I do is buy gems, exchange them for gold and go from there. Id rather play the game then grind.
OP, it has nothing to do with the fact that the game is virtual or has a small price. Games, especially MMO’s, are about investment, principally your investment in your character. When that character/spec is viable one day and not the next it is generally taken as a personal affront or offense. Let’s fact it, nerfing is the least creative way to deal with balance; but, it’s the most common way to address it. Sure, peaks and valleys need to be addressed, but perceived peaks and valleys, suggested by outraged players don’t need to be addressed.
And, many people here have ridden nerf cycles in other games for years and are tired of it. They, perhaps, played an SV hunter in another game that was perceived as OP. It gets nerfed and MM hunter is made even more OP than SV was. The solution is absurd and now, even though you prefer the playstyle of SV, you respec MM on the day of the nerf to be of any value to your team. And, the cycles seem endless.
Nerfs scare and outrage because they are often poorly handled and a sign of a dev team with a whetted finger to the air. Again, they are the least creative method of balance. Many of us would like to see more effort from the dev team when considering balance overall.
They don’t out rage me, they don’t scare me – they excite me to see what kinds of builds i can come up, what types or armor I can ware. I like change
Because the last time they nerfed my class, it got destroyed beyond repair.
Yes, it’s obviously Ranger.
why do you think that? wwhat kinds of builds did you experiment with to proove this?
Looking for high populate, active guilds 150+ people who like WvW, Dungeons, Fractals, PVE and PVP. please add me if interested – Adrien. in game, Salacious out side.
Because nerfing isn’t always the answer? They should be balancing it more instead of nerfing an entire damage class.
care to elaborate?
very simple question. This talk of AOE, mesmers, theives, this and that. I am very astonished how out raged a group of people become over a virtual game that costs a small price.
People are either scarred, as some posts have stated of the impending damage to come or they are angered by the balancing act that anet plays.
Why?
ok so your favourite spell on ele or your favourite skill on war or what ever was nerfed so bad its “unusable.”
why does that anger you? or make you scarred? or want to “RQ” or even Q_Q?
im very confused and just want to understand this. They nerf mes and I make a new build….
fill me in?
why are people worried about nerfs?
the camera is fine, never had an issue doing them.
why do they look better then us. rude. ban the idiots.
I personally dont think dailies are any good for casuals who play maybe a couple hours a day – could be wrong though
Id argue that specific builds are more useful in smaller parties than larger ones as if there are a handful of useless players in large parties they have even less of an impact.
This swings the other way, too. A single awesome player is sorta drowned out by nine mediocre cheesewheels in a large ramble of players, with little to no chance to actually display his abilities. It’s one reason damage calculators and the like became popular in Warcraft – people couldn’t naturally tell who on their team was sucking the stovepipe when there were so many candidates to choose from without third-party assistance.
This is GW2…its not as ‘hard’ as other MMOs. All you would have to do is introduce a scaled difficulty. Those doing the hardest difficulty would be expected to be skilled just like in the highest level of fractals. You generally dont take PuGs into high level content so the highest difficulties would be reserved for guilds/groups that think/know each member is skilled enough. Simples!
this ^
Some times you need be slapped in game and in the forums…..dont be stupid, you dont get slapped.
A boon destroying necro build sorts out most elementalists I run into in WvWvW. Same with guardians or anything that likes to stack boons really.
See – im sure I could take that and experiement with it to make something that would rip apart other necros – as a necro
I think those who fail at the word “dodge” or fail at making builds which counter AOE have an issue.
Assuming you’re replying to me, yes I’m serious. If they want to make sure players see the world instead of skipping over all of it, why not make seeing the world a prerequisite before being able to use mounts?
I’ve not quoted your post, just in case you’d like to take this chance to edit it.
mounts for one are a stupid idea. why? because like wow they are glorified gold sinks that serve no real purpose other then for people to say “im better then you.” which you can do by dying your ascended gear black or white.
I dont need some dragon or fluffy cat in my way as I am walking through an epic LA scene. or in rata sum.
What they should do is take the ascended and exotic gear and spread it out over trophies like this. over achievements.
This is becoming extremely frustrating to view as a player, and a forum poster.
I have never seen a thread on the general forums (though I’m sure someone will post one to prove me wrong ;P) regarding elementalists as OP in PvP or WvW. The only post I may have read were their AoE spells were annoying, not challenging, or impossible; no, their aoe’s are just annoying.
First, I saw Warriors and Guardians were extremely OP in WvW due to their classes not having a lot of bugs, and being well balanced.
Second, I read post after post regarding one-hit backstab thieves. Equally, I read posts to refute the entire idea that this build was OP by its very nature being incredibly easy to one shot the thieves themselves.
THEN the argument was perma-stealth
…Now, after ANet suggested they would look into adjusting single target spells (not just for ele’s) to be on par with AoEs… there is a complaint against elementalist’s AoE’s.
I wouldn’t even be posting this if these changes didn’t affect my gamplay as a PvE’er, but these trends really need to be tamed. The exaggeration alone is simply untrue considering I’ve seen / heard from friends, posters, and the few times I joined WvW, a variety of classes being played.
Perhaps, instead of this exaggeration, the truth behind this is a group of elementalists (guild members, friends, a formed party) was really encountered.
Either way these posts have proven to be pretty detrimental to the accused classes. Every one of these posts feels like a witch hunt without the true problem being addressed.
see as I have been arguing experimentation is dead. every class is OP, every class is UP. every class is something.
The problem with this player base is that they find a build, from a site, youtube, here what ever and they run with it. and when something goes wrong they dont try and fix it – they kitten.
they are not the worst. nothing is the worst. its all about build. When people grasp that concept then they will see that every class is truly OVER powered. its about unlocking the ability and playing with the class.
