Question: Do you get to choose the dye you get or is it random after selecting which dye kit to get?
Ohoni, why do you get rid of the names of who you are quoting?
To the topic of the thread, while I may not be skilled enough to do challenging content by myself, I’m not opposed to content being difficult and offering unique rewards for completion. Provided the unique rewards are just cosmetic.
If it is a skin look I really like, then it will serve as either a means for me to get better at the game, as I would have to do that to get the item on my own, or to group up with others to complete the mission.
Here’s a tool someone pointed me to.
That’s a great tool.
Well, with the 3rd birthday gift, you can just go ahead and grab that Enameled Emblaze.
Just in time for the OP
Assuming the OP has a character that has hit it’s 3 year mark or is willing to wait until such time.
Each character on account gets the dye right? :o
Each one that hits its 3rd year birthday as the birthdays are character specific.
Taimi Dye Kit = Best Birthday EVER!
My new Electric Yellow just made me the Shiniest of Shinies!!!
Side note – RIP luxury dye market
Nah. There are too many players who haven’t gotten the dyes vs the rate of players hitting their 3 year birthday. New players may not want to wait 3 years to get a dye. Or if the selection of the exact dye is still RNG based, they may not get the dye they want. And the dyes are account bound so it won’t affect the price that way.
On the opposite end to that, new players can’t afford to pay 1k Gold for a dye. Which is why I said RIP luxury dye market. Dyes will still be sold, yes. But it won’t hit such high prices due to the free account bound selection.
1 dye out of how many? How many 3 years could one have to do to get them all if it is random past the selection of which kit? Or even if it’s not.
Some new players are likely willing to open up their real life pocket book to buy the dyes or spend hours farming the gold to get it. Or a combination of the two.
I highly doubt it’s the end of the luxury dye market.
If the dyes aren’t available at all except through the 3rd year birthday gift, eventually the markets for these dyes will dry up anyway once the supply runs out. So in the end, it’s probably a moot point which will kill the market first, price drops due to the birthday gifts or just supply being completely bought out.
happy 3rd birthday GW2! Very lovely pressies, TY ANET <3 Excited to get rare dyes since I rarely bought the gem store ones
Same, I just don’t know which one I want (I only have 1 at 3 years), so it will sit for a while most likely while I try to make up my mind.

You could. You could also while you’re abroad install the desktop authenticator and switch to using that instead of the mobile authenticator or SMS. That way you don’t lose the protection, but would be able to log in while away.
Look guys. We get it. Respect LFG. I think we can all agree that is necessary. Let’s drop that concept. We are all going to respect LFG…. no, seriously we get it.
That said, what im getting at, is there is a clear best damage set. Sinister just poped into vying for that slot, but only for certain classes and I’m glad. What folks are missing from the point of this thread is that people do act like their way is the only way especially the speed clear crowd.
Now…. will there be a fastest way no matter what we do? Yep. But I’m not to defeatist to simply stop suggesting ideas to make everyone’s game play experience better.
Imagine for a moment, that there were at least three gear sets that folks were arguing over which is best for speed clearing. Then the LFG for those folks would say something like “speed clear only: experienced please” rather than “zerk only: link gear on join”
It changes the feel of that side of the meta to be more inclusive.
Say warrior’s are best in X gear…
And elementalist’s are best in Y gear…
And Necro’s are best in Z gear….
It shatters the “zerker meta” without hurting speed clear folks. It makes it obvious that speed clear is what your getting into. And it adds diversity. It let’s you take X class in Y gear, AND Z class in X gear, AND Z class in XY gear.
That diversity means there’s no meme to follow and to forget the point of. I want to rid the game of the “zerker meta” not the speed clear crowd.
A minority of the speed clear crowd think it should be their way or the highway. A minority of the non-speed clear crowd think it should be their way or the highway.
Stop assuming that just because the vocal minorities of each group are “loud” that it means that they are the majority. And none of us can say how large each minority is or which group is larger or which group is more vocal.
People in general are more likely to spout off on things that are negative. That’s why there are a lot more threads for: “I’m sick of being kicked for being X” or “I’m sick of having to carry people”.
The LFG would not read “speed clear only: experienced please” it would read: “speed clear only: X, Y, or Z ping gear”.
Given how each class is supposed to be able to fulfill all things, I doubt there would be a unique gear set per class. A few different types of gears may crop up for some types of builds, but not a unique one per class.
I don’t know, but it would be nice if they would stop harassing me to set up the SMS authenticator every time I try to load the game.
It’s every fifth time. The team will review that frequency in the future, but for now we’ll leave it there, given the proven security advantages of authentication.
Please consider, how strange it may sound for some people today, that there are
still people that don’t even own a cell-phone and also don’t want to have one.
Its really annoying to get that message so often.
There is a desktop version of the authenticator that can be used if a person does not have nor wants a cell phone.
I guess what I’m saying, is I wish there was an “elite meta” of folks who make the ‘best’ healing guardians, and the best condition minion masters, and the best zealot boon rangers…. or burn bleed elementalists.
I’m looking for a place I can post up my elementalist build in sinister and rabid, that at peak output has 2500 condi damage with 100% duration on its burns and bleeds. and have someone post something constructive, and not… “dude… its not ‘zerk and it sucks. I’m sorry you spent all this time writing that up, and I see you got good stats, but I don’t care, its not scholar ’zerk… so it sucks.”
If anyone knows where that place is, I’d be happy to go hang out there.
Why not start your own group of elite non-“official”-meta players?
And in the mean time, I’m sure if you clearly state that you’re aware that the build doesn’t have the highest DPS, but are aiming to get as much X out of the build as you can while still doing Y, that you may get constructive feedback. And either dungeon or class specific forum depending on what you’re wanting to do.
Here’s a simple question to people who aren’t happy with some of us choosing to not run zerker in some situations. If I had my reaper in valk gear would you speed run with me or would you demand I run zerk?
If I speed ran (I don’t):
Yes. Especially if I had kicked others/asked others in the group to change. I have to be fair. I can’t give preferential treatment to one person.
In the last 2 months alone there has been zero day exploits enabling remote code execution and privilege escalation for OSX, Windows, and Android. That means if you visit a site that either:
- Chooses to display malicious code
- Got hacked and is displaying malicious code
- Is displaying content fetched from another site that contains malicious code
You could get popped. With no action on your part: no visible downloading, no clicking anything, just simply viewing the web page with any browser, even one that is fully up to date. Its great that you are careful not to get phished. It’s great that you always check to see if you have an HTTPS connection to every site that you are logging into, and that the “l” in the url bar isnt a 1 or the .com isnt a .something else. It’s great that you use the “remember my password” checkbox (mine doesnt seem to work). It’s great that you never download something from CNET or download.com or whatever that might contain piggy back installations. Those are all good practices that go a long way, but …they hardly mean much.
The front pages of CNN, NBC, FoxNews, and Yahoo have all hosted 0day drive by download type malware within the past 2 years. Thousands of people with up to date browsers and antivirus got infected each time, without clicking a thing. And those are just a few popular websites people care about. There is no way to completely avoid exposure to this stuff short of not being on the internet. And good malware is patched and recrypted regularly so the people who are infected might never detect that infection even with up to date anti virus (they better pray they have a suite with good heuristics because you can not rely on signatures alone).
Accounts get farmed with phishing emails and malware that can harvest credentials when you log into this very website, or to your game. The remediation process takes time and money away from development. I don’t want to give them my phone number either (dont we already have “this isnt your normal IP” verification by email?) but dont come on the forums and act like you are immune to a computer intrusion because you “aint stupid” and don’t need a fallback plan.
Okay kid, you’re done. The minute you said that people are getting viruses and stuff from no fault of their own your credibility was shot. Stay off of shady sites and you have no issue.
Sometimes legit sites get infected.
Now, you’re not as likely to get infected by going to a legit site, they do try to keep infections off of their site, but it’s never 0% chance of getting infected.
But to claim that that never happens is bad advice to give to people.
It’s not the same though. They took something, and I want it back.
It is the same. You broke the rules. Breaking rules have consequences.
You cheated in GW1. The punishment for cheating in GW1 is a permanent ban. Be glad that they’re even willing to let permanently banned accounts buy a new account.
I can easily start a new account, but this is more about getting my childhood back. I nearly forgot to mention that I was only a teenager. Can they possibly expect a kid not to cheat given the opportunity? That’s a lot of responsibility to impose on a child.
Then everyone and their mother who cheated and was banned will claim they are/were a teenager. As a teenager, you should surely be expected to know that cheating is wrong. I seem to recall there being rules and stuff put into place at school to punish cheating when I was in school.
So yes, they can expect teenagers (the age the game is rated for) to not cheat or to expect consequences should they choose to cheat anyway.
Yes, it’s like taking a tour of Rome in a Formula 1 racer. Sure you finish faster but what do you remember about the sights?
If you’ve done the tour hundreds of times while not in a Formula 1 racer, you may remember a lot about the sights even after doing a tour in a Formula 1 racer.
Just like I can easily picture my route to work right now because I’ve gone past the same sights over and over and over again, a number of players who skip have done the dungeons hundreds of times and can easily describe the dungeon.
Make your own group and say you don’t want to skip.
Why does what one group of players likes to do affect your enjoyment of the game? This game has more than enough players on either side of the skip and don’t skip crowds to support both play styles at the same time.
They would research exploits and such in the prison server and buy a new account to terrorize in the non-prison servers. The bullies would still find a way to terrorize their targets.
Solves nothing and probably makes the problem worse due to their ability to freely research and discuss in chat with others who feel the same way with no risk of being reported.
1) who the heck is cmdr shepard?
2) if the plot line puts him in, he’s in. it’s not like we have a choice in the matter
3) I must be really bored to be responding to this thread.
Mass Effect main character.
To answer the OP, I would not let him/her because that would mean EA has their hand in the game and I currently don’t trust EA with releasing good games. So I would do what I could to show my dislike of the fact that EA has their greedy hands on the game.
The old system sucked -extremely- hard. You needed to acquire the skin again for each item you wanted to have the look, e.g. on alts. You needed to destroy an item just to put its looks on another one. You needed real life money for it. It was hands down the worst skin customization system I have seen in any MMO, ever.
The new one is MUCH better.
That being said, it still falls short when it still insists to charge you every time you’re changing your look. I firmly believe that this is wrong, wrong, wrong. Charging for unlocking skins is fine, charging for changing skins you already have unlocked is evil nickle and diming.
The new system still discourages characters from transmuting their skins until max level (why use real life money to customize a skin you’re going to throw away in a few levels?) and it still encourages characters to decide for one look at stick to it for a very long time. In contrast to what we’d do in real life, which is NOT wearing the same dress every day. What’s the point of collecting skins of the game discourages you from wearing more than one? I don’t get that.
And you don’t have to spend a single penny on transmutation charges if you do not want to.
And this new system is LESS discouraging for wearing multiple skins. I seem to recall the ONLY way to change the skins on level 80 items before the change was to BUY gems or convert gold to gems to get transmutation crystals. Now we get them for free for doing map completion and logging into the game.
Augh it’s so sickening to see you all treating this game like it’s the pinnacle of life, as if it doesn’t live up to your every expectation, existence will lose all meaning!
I’ll just be over here playing video games for entertainment… feel free to join whenever you like.
I don’t see anyone saying that existence would lose all meaning if it doesn’t live up to their expectations or anything of that sort. So I don’t know where that’s coming from.
Would you go to a movie whose trailers bored you? Or do you just go to every movie ever released because movies are for entertainment?
Regardless of the fact that the primary function of Betas should be to bug test, it also serves as the “trailer” to a game. And to some, the “trailer” has been boring.
Now did they just put the boring parts of the game into the “trailer” as they don’t have the exciting parts finished yet? Or have they dropped the ball with the open world events? Only time will tell on that one.
Boosters last 2 hours. Bag slots are forever.
But both lose their value (according to some people) when going to another character that they were not applied on as they’re not account bound. If you bought a bag slot for 600 gems and 600 gems worth of boosters, would they have the same value when all applied to a single character but then you then start a new one to act as your main?
Cost wise they are the same but the bag slot expansion has more value as it’s permanent. However people are saying the boosters are a good value for new players whereas the bag slot expansion are not based on the new player potentially changing their main at some point in the future.
Basically anything that can only be used my one character is a bad value for new players (and veterans if you want to go that far).
I don’t think any of us are saying that it’s bad to have bag slots in the package. Just that if it’s apparently aimed at new players, then there are things we feel would have been better for new players than a bag slot. Such as a character slot. So that they could try out a 6th class without having to delete a character.
You mean the same connection I’ve played the game with for three years just up and stopped working at the same time the June23rd patch came out? Huh, fun fact the world doesn’t run of fairy dust and hokus pokus. There is a thing called cause and effect. When people in the same boat as me, people that have played for years on the same connection develop issues right after a major patch, it’s common sense to point fingers at the change. Did all of our equipment break all at once? Maybe you are right and that it is between user equipment and ArenaNet. But if that is the case then something needs to be done to identify what this routing error is and why does it happen. It is NOT out of their control to deliver useful information related to these issues as well as attempt to identify the issue. Furthermore I have no clue if you’re right or not @Healix, but the ping issues are not always map specific, I was watching Caiths stream today, while he was playing Nos and he was the only one with issues besides and ele on his team.
Bottom line is something has changed, and we don’t live in a world where people and companies are unaccountable for their actions. You think your player base is gonna stick around if they have to struggle with ping spikes regularly?
Coincidents happen.
The bag slot expansions are fine to be included in the package. They come as an account bound consumable that can then be applied towards a single character’s existing bag slot total. The fact that they can be applied towards a single character is not unknown and I believe the tooltip even states so.
I see people complaining that it’s not a great item because it can only be applied to one character. How’s this any different from other consumables that are soulbound such as boosters? Are those a bad deal then too? The player benefits from having that character containing more bag slots. If they change to another character then that their choice. It doesn’t diminish the existing value of the bag slots.
The packages are aimed at new players primarily given the items included. New players are probably more likely to reroll and lose the bag slot than a veteran is.
The “discounted” price is a well rounded number (800 and 2000), which is probably why they chose to use those selling prices for those packages. It also shows that they don’t know the value of unidentified dyes because they definitely aren’t gem price level.
Either way, I know I won’t purchase it because I’m hoping there will be better things in a couple of days.
It still doesn’t make any sense to me as to why they account bound those dyes. Sure the value of unidentified dyes would have dropped but unidentified dyes are priced ridiculously at the moment (around 80s) which in my opinion is overpriced. What if you get duplicates? You’ll have to flush them. At the very least, it should have been something like “pick 7 common, 2 uncommon and 1 rare” or something like that.
The most simple thing to do would be – just remove them from the package and add something else more useful.
Unless they would plan on changing the price from time to time, they can’t base the price on the trading post value so they would have to use the gem store version and I’m pretty sure they sell unidentified dye in the gem store. I’d check, but I’m at work.
And if you’ve actually read the other threads on this issue, you’ve seen Gaile’s post asking for more specifics and what specifics they are looking for. Have you given them any details or are you just saying you’ve got high ping and it must be ANets fault?
You could ween yourself off of the green set that’s for jumping puzzles. Delete/salbage one piece each month.
If you find a puzzle that you keep dying on, temporarily switch out to the trait that reduces fall damage for that area. For PvE areas switching to that trait shouldn’t slow you down too much.
You’ve missed Indigo’s point.
If you make the current 133% speed the new 100%, players will ask for a new 133% speed.
And they won’t get it if anyone has half a mind on the consequences. Speed boosts are temporary for a reason. If someone could move super fast at all times while simultaneously dealing damage and/or being invulnerable, they would be overpowered. Short bursts of super speed taking over the role of swiftness will serve that role in combat since out-of-combat movement speed would just be fast all of the time.
And as an fyi, my Guardian doesn’t run with anything that boosts her speed out of combat. She moves fast enough without it. Neither does my warrior nor my ranger
OK. Opinion noted.
My ele has swapping to air and some skills only because the weapon has the ability and the trait gives might and regen when swapping to fire and water respectively. My mesmer only has it because I like the skill that gives me random boons, it just always gives swiftness on top of the random boon.
More opinions noted. I also mentioned how easy it is to get boons in general.
And you’ve still missed Indigo’s point. People in games will always demand to go faster. If left unchecked, people would eventually need “boons” to slow themselves down in order to do jumping puzzles.
Even under your suggestion, people would want more access to the super speed. Then when that is granted, we’re back to where we all now. People going: “super speed is so easy to get and maintain, we might as well make it the new base speed and add in super super speed.”
And it’s not an opinion that my guardian and warrior don’t run with anything to boost their speed. It’s a fact.
My opinion is that we go fast enough considering the waypoints that are everywhere. WvW is spread out because it’s not supposed to be res-wars. It’s supposed to be catastrophic for a group to wipe when defending or attacking. Not to be able to be back in the action in 5 seconds.
I happen to think
That isn’t an argument.
Well if you aren’t willing to accept the opinions of others as valid there is literally no reason why anyone should consider yours either.
I can accept your right to have an opinion, but an opinion isn’t a strong argument. It’s an opinion. I’m talking about how swiftness’ objective role in GW2, not a matter of how I “feel” it’s too slow, or just right, or out of place. I’ve given plenty of points and I’ve gotten little but “No, I think it’s fine,” in return. That’s not a real argument.
And plenty of other people have given valid factual points for why there should not be perma-swiftness without traiting or choosing a skill for it. Just because you don’t agree with them doesn’t make the facts opinions and doesn’t mean they are invalidated.
Otherwise, we can go: your facts are opinions and since they don’t align with ours, they’re invalidated.
You’re also ignoring the psychological factor. If 133% was baseline and speed options were removed, we’d see complaints about the lack of options to go faster. Guaranteed.
What the scenario becomes is that everyone moves fast out of combat, and then due to combat speed, “super speed” becomes a more common option (one that is also completely in control of the player) for players looking to re-position, give chase, or outrun a few attacks for just a quick couple of seconds. In order to give super speed just a little more “oomph” if necessary and really give it some contrast to regular movement speed, it might be worthwhile to increase the player speed cap to 150%. There are plenty of other creatures in the game that move faster than players under the effects of swiftness, so the concept is possible. However, given that combat speed drags down a player’s movement speed by a solid 29%, such a cap increase might not be terribly necessary.
You’ve missed Indigo’s point.
If you make the current 133% speed the new 100%, players will ask for a new 133% speed. Because they want the ability to be able to spec to be able to run faster than someone else.
Then players like you will go: it’s so easy to get the boons and everyone has access to ways to do it so we might as well make the “new 133%” the base speed.
Then players will ask for them to go faster. And so on and so forth.
That was Indigo’s point. That it will just create a vicious cycle.
And as an fyi, my Guardian doesn’t run with anything that boosts her speed out of combat. She moves fast enough without it. Neither does my warrior nor my ranger
My ele has swapping to air and some skills only because the weapon has the ability and the trait gives might and regen when swapping to fire and water respectively. My mesmer only has it because I like the skill that gives me random boons, it just always gives swiftness on top of the random boon.
Funny thing is that no one will need it by the time it ever gets in.
That is true,
Person one “I got my self legendary armor, bye bye Zojja armor!”
Person two “Set to Zurker?”
Person one"yes……"
Person two “so……. That was a wast of gold then”It wouldn’t because you can get access to every other stats.
I can wear soldier armor in WvW if I feel like playing a frontliner.
Yea legendary armor would totaly help this one person complaning since s/he only play elementalist and jump bettwen dungeon, wvw, fractals and open world pve every 5-20 mins he need armor/trinkets weapons with him/her all the time so it takes up 90 out of his 100 slots already.
I think you’re trying to make a point, I don’t get it.
There’s a person who literally tries to do everything on one character and has a different build for every aspect and decided that he should keep all five spare sets of armor (he has one specifically for jumping puzzles) in his inventory and all four spare sets of trinkets in his inventory. He also has a very short attention span as he jumps from one activity to another quickly. Then fusses at ANet for the lack of inventory space.
He made a post asking for ANet to give us more bag slots.
The point being, if legendary armor was a thing, then the person’s inventory issue would be solved for the most part if he could agree on one set of runes for every build. Because he could switch the stats on the armor instead of having to carry multiple sets.
No system is all good or all bad.
I disagree, this system is all bad, because now I cannot play with all my real life friends.
But the current system doesn’t prevent you from playing at all if too many people are online at the moment. Even if all you wanted to do was do the World Boss train with your friends at the moment.
You just view the other system as better than the one used. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
You just need to realize that the system isn’t very likely to change. 1. It’s probably not an easy fix, so there would need to be a huge positive gain to do this. 2. There’s already complaints about server stacking and the other system used would only exacerbate the stacking.
OP you’re not going to be persuading anyone if you just criticize the game “boring”, “guessable”, and “big and boring circle”.
Seriously.
Yes, i should’ve provided more details, but people, that played beta should understand me
The thing i want to see something.. global!.. in pve zones. It’s easy to describe every event like “kill mobs”, i know it’s not like it, but it’s what you do in events, and in SW there was “kill mobs, so they won’t kill your forts, so you will faster start the killing of big boss”
there was global goal fo the whole zone, so every movement you’ve did there – was to achieve the goal!
i haven’t found goal in bwe zone :c
But it’s hard to fix “boring” without knowing what made it boring. Was it too long or too tedious or what?
I seem to recall a dev saying it would only effect a small portion of players…..
But atleast weekly i hear the same complaints from people.
Could be they could tweak or make the system better by using a linked method. I.E if you have been friends with said person for x time or in a guild with them for x time the amount you can send between each group increases. I don’t think that’s too unreasonable a request.
And the people complaining could still easily fall under the small amount of people who would be affected.
Or they’re gold buyers trying to pass off what they’re doing as not against the rules (not saying that’s the case here) and they’ve been wrongly caught in the net.
That time would have to be prohibitively large to stop gold sellers and buyers. Probably longer than most people want to wait. Because otherwise, the gold buyers will be willing to wait that long.
Blame the gold sellers.
The mail amounts are to make buying gold from gold sellers more tedious. The guild amounts are to prevent guilds from being completely wiped out if a member with removal permissions get hacked by a gold seller looking to get gold to sell to others. Support does not roll back guild banks in the event of a guild member being hacked, so that part is also protection for guilds against members’ with lax security.
So my really good friend, his brother, his girlfriend and a few other friends from my country bought the game.
They are really into WvW and I want to play with them.
The server (world) they are on is always full.
I thought I could stay up late, or wake up super early and the server would eventually become transferable with gems.
It has been MONTHS and the server is always listed as FULL.
Not even World of Warcraft handles servers like this. It is ridiculous that I can’t even get to enjoy WvW with my friends after various attempts to transfer for MONTHS.
I like they way they handle the servers myself. Other games base it off currently loged in which can cause issues during prime time where you can’t log in to your character. That will never happen here since it is based on how many call it home.
I hate it. What if you are on that server for years and you get your real life friends to play the game, do you leave your home world and WvW guild after 3 years to join a low pop server because your friends can’t play with you? That’s just a DIFFERENT scenario from the one I am currently dealing with. Which is just as bad.
No system is all good or all bad. ANet has decided that they want to have servers count population by number who have chosen that world as opposed to online.
If you can’t play at all due to too many already online, you can’t play with your friends. ANet decided the ability to play at all times is more important to them than the ability to play with friends in all aspects of the game at all times. You obviously disagree, but at this point, they aren’t likely to change how they count players. Especially not since stacking has been a huge problem for WvW.
The whole raid organization is about maximizing DPS. Yes, your tanks – individually, as a character – want to be as tanky as needed (important choice of word!) and your healers want to be as healer as needed or enough to replace yet another healer.
Of course doing as much damage as possible is ultimately the goal for any group that no longer has survival concerns, but then, this whole topic is about one idea of how more support oriented characters could be used to feed any excess healing they have into the parties damage instead and thereby make them part of the damage stack while preserving the need to retain your health so it goes to damage rather than purely keeping you alive.
You’re claiming that because every gear combo isn’t meta everywhere the system is broken. That’s simply not true.
Oh please. When practically everyone in the game uses one type of gear above all other, when the runes and sigils that go with that gear cost 10+ gold a pop while others languish at 5 silver, when half the dungeons in the game are mostly ignored because they don’t give the right gear to be worth grinding, when you can persistently find a large section of the community unhappy with that state of affairs, there is definitely something broken.
The game gives you only two hard choices where you have to invest significant time into changing to something else. (and even these aren’t very hard by most standards) These two are the choice of class and the choice of gear. On both of these, the ones where balance should be most important, ANet dropped the ball and introduced whole classes that can’t ever be part of an ideal group, as well as whole gear sets that hamstring the player.
Another thing to consider is that they made absolutely no effort to label things or educate players. If you explore the game on your own, and don’t look up everything ahead of time there is absolutely nothing in the game except for other players that will tell you right out which choices are good for what. It presents all of them equally. The only indication you ever get of some things being better for certain purposes than others is that you can’t even earn some gear sets like Cleric from the dungeon vendor, but then they do sell you Magi’s which is an even worse set to run dungeons in, so even that is no solid indication to stay away from certain stats.
People have moved towards glass cannon gear for PvE because the content is 3 years old. The only places non-glass cannon gear tends to be meta is in PvP and WvW. Where players go up against other players and the average skill of the opponents in general rises as time goes on.
When the game first launched glass cannon was not the meta. Because people weren’t skilled enough to stay alive. Over time, players got better and they looked for things to give them a bigger challenge. Like upping the difficulty setting on a single player RPG or a beat ‘em up game or a racing game, etc. And in the case of MMO’s that typically going more glass cannon. Increasing the odds that any mistake you make will be your last.
The meta is only glass cannon because everyone knows the fights now. The average player only uses glass cannon because the average players know the fights now.
The lack of healers is not the cause for the glass cannon gear on a lot of players. The old known content is.
But new players’ feedback is just as useful as veteran players’ feedback.
They give different types of feedback, which is why betas for expansion packs should include veterans and new players. So that companies can get both kinds of feedback.
Maybe they should just put in a “Dispense Daily Reward” button.
No dailies required. Gives the same reward, but puts a 24hr symbol of a crying baby over your head until the daily reset…
They did this.
What do you think log-in rewards are? That’s why this is all so absurd. People want to play not even 10% of the game to get their few AP, when everything else about the former rewards is already given automatically.
It’s… at what point did, to those thinking this is an unfair combination of dailies, ‘get the reward’ supersede ‘play the game’ in your head, people? At what point did Pavlovian training win out and you started pushing that log-in button just for the 10 AP?
Preaching to the choir, my friend. It just blows my mind how people can still get upset that they gasp have to do something they don’t want to, to get marginal additional rewards. (EDIT: When I said Daily Rewards I meant the new ones ie 10AP/3shards)
I’m just waiting for the day when you can simply type in what level character you want. How much gold you want. What skins you want unlocked. How much AP you want. What legendaries and ascended gear you want. And then load your character up with it from character creation…
But I’m sure somehow people will complain that it isn’t fair they are forced to type in that information manually and Anet should automatically max everything out for them.
Why is it acceptable for PVP players to get their dailies done in fifteen minutes without ever having do to game modes they don’t like, but unacceptable when PvE players want the same thing?
TIL Fractals and Dungeons aren’t PvE……
Come on man, you didnt really just go there ?
Bah, you took my comeback!
PvP is a game mode, WvW is a game mode, and PvE is a game mode. Nobody in PvP or WvW are complaining. The ones complaining are the PvEers that have decided they want to pick and choose what they do and don’t want to do within their own category.
It’s like if someone was complaining that the PvP dailies force him to capture points or kill people because they only want to treb on Khylo and should be able to play the way they want and still complete their dailies.
Or a WvWer who only likes capturing Ruins complains that they are “forced” to capture camps or sentries or engage enemy players.
If you want to only play a segment of your game mode, then you may not be able to get your daily done. That’s pretty much the long and short of it.
To be honest some people may not have the time to devote to fractals.
So, I think they should add in a fourth category and add in dungeons to dailies. That way open world PvE and dungeons can remain separate but not remove any options.
Expectations. We know they’ve only had a finite amount of time to work on the maps. the more maps there are, the lower the quality we would expect, and the fewer the maps, the higher the quality we expect. There’s a balance in there somewhere with the right number of maps and the right level of quality.
If there’s only one map, it better be a really good map.
If there are multiple maps, they still need to be good, but I’d be more forgiving of mistakes.
If the game had launched with just one map and it be Lornar’s Pass type, I’d likely be disappointed. But if it had been say Cursed Shore or Silverwastes, I’d be happier. But since Lornar’s Pass is just one of a number of maps, I’m more easily able to forgive the boring nature of Lornar’s Pass.
Actually someone already told you there are Dailies servers for PvP AND someone already told you that WvW has Master of Ruins and Big Spender both of which require zero interaction with other players. Also people have told you to FORM YOUR OWN FRACTAL GROUP and then you can do it easily.
I hope you read it this time.
That’s not the point and you’d have realized that if you would applied your advise to yourself. The point is do not enjoy any other mode than Pve and they should avoid forcing players to do anything they don’t enjoy.
i play to have fun and joy, Fractals or any other kind of competitive game mode it is not. Fractals or dungeons shouldn’t be competitive but the community of players that stuck to those made it that way with the speed runs. So basically that kind of content simply is not fun to play for me. anymore. You commanding me to play WvW or PvP although i told you i don’t enjoy those modes are the kind of toxic behavior i dislike.
I hope you are able to understand my point this time. The only real solution is to separate this kind of content in dailies. So fractals and dungeons are in a separate tab were whose that enjoy those can do the dailies.
I think PVE have enough alternatives to allow to have different dailies every day without the need to force me to play something i don’t enjoy.
No one but players themselves force themselves to do anything within in a game. So drop the “ANet is forcing me” argument. They aren’t forcing you to do anything.
There is no penalty for not doing the Dailies on any given day.
And Coulter was pointing out that there were options in WvW and PvP that were not toxic towards PvE players just in there for the Dailies. Coulter wasn’t telling you to do anything, and he wasn’t rude in how he told you about it. So if you think that someone politely pointing out options that would work for PvE’ers who dislike PvP and WvW is toxic behavior, then I think you have a very different definition of toxic behavior than most other people.
Your friend is going to have to wait for a spot to open. No one can make a spot appear or even reserve one for someone else.
Conversely, you yourself could transfer to his server if his server is open more often than yours.
You know, there are always other daily catagories than fractals you can do. No need to hate on fractals, just do other dailies.
Of course!
But I think the point OP is making is that in order to complete the daily, OP would HAVE to do a Fractal because Fractals take up two spots in the daily completion list.
OP does not have to do a Fractal to do the Daily.
They can pop into PvP or WvW to complete the Daily today. They are choosing not to and claiming that they can’t complete the Daily today.
They are confusing the ability to do something with the desire to do something.
However, I do sympathize as not everyone likes WvW or PvP or dungeons/fractals and if you happen to not like any of those three, when double fractal days come up it means one would have to do something they don’t like to do the Daily. And I’m not sure that’s something that ANet intended for the Daily.
Basically, the “choice” is toe the melee line, or be treated like a noob, kicked and/or insulted.
Or form your own party… Stop pretending only people asking for zerk runs can do that. There is a very clear and obvious choice, stop pretending to be a victim when you’re just being lazy.
Don’t think you read my post properly.
Making your own groups is both something you shouldn’t have to do, to avoid these kind of issues and also something that won’t even, fully, solve the issue, even if you do.
It’s just papering over the cracks…
So players who want to go as quick and as efficient as you can get a PUG group to go should take a player that will not meet those requirements just because some players can’t read LFG’s or choose to join LFG’s they know they don’t fit into?
Onto the topic at hand, they should add in a fourth category of Dailies: Dungeons & Fractals.
Suggestions are too specific. Suggestions need to be more generic. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a worse situation than the zone specific events. Imagine everyone on a server on a single jumping puzzle…
And we don’t need any more Fractal options unless they collapse the Fractal options into one slot only. So that we don’t end up with days with 3 Fractal options.
And some of your options are unfair for veterans. And the options are supposed to all be doable by all players (people with lower level characters get level appropriate options). Some of your options are not doable by all players.
Nothing was eliminated, all the old ones still work the way they had. The old ones simply don’t drop anymore or can be bought from the Gem Shop.
Only real change is that Karma boosters now only drop as an in-game reward.
And some people had converted their existing Karma boosters into the select a boost booster with the knowledge that they could select Karma booster as an option when they went to use one.
That’s what the issue is. That players were not given any warning about the change to make any selection to at least get some Karma boosters back.
Hopefully, it’s just an oversight and someone forgot to add in Karma booster as an option.
Trolls.
People are too quick to want to get rid of a dialog during a fight and will click quickly to remove it. The problems come up when this is done during world bosses. Too many too quickly hit yes during say teq or triple trouble…
And last: Hard disk space is cheap as hell.
This. This is the important bit, and it’s buried in a wall of text.
Physical storage is not expensive. The answer to “I’m running out of space” should be buy more space.
1000GB disks from well-known, quality brands are available on Amazon for under $50. Also, 1000GB solid-state drives are under $200 (many are closer to $100).
You don’t even have to reinstall everything! Samsung I know provides software to clone your old disk onto the new one (recently got a 500GB SSD from them). I’m sure the other manufacturers provide similar software, and if your hdd doesn’t come with something, there are several free applications to clone disks.
If that space is being taken up by software you can not use but because you bought another piece of software from the vendor you are required to devote that space anyway… Getting back to the truck and trailer scenario I detailed above. Would you answer be “you just need to build another driveway to get the trailer”.
Storage space is digital real estate. It’s where you keep your digital assets. It’s not free even if it is more cost effective that physical property. You should still not be require dot hand it over (we are talking about 15-GB of space in this case) or in the game of WoW who knows, perhaps 25-GB or more devoted to digital assets consuming space on your hard drive that you won’t get back.
Others have pointed out there is an option to stream down the content on-demand. So although the game my patch you up to 35-GB once HoT is released if you reinstall fresh and just stream down content as needed I’d guess you’ll get by with much less than that. Since this option is built into the game it’s really not applicable to GW2.
Buy more space. Your reasons for not buying it is not a valid enough reason to not buy more space.
All drives have portions of them not available due to various things.
MMO’s by their nature increase in file size. Even if they never have an expansion pack. New skills, new classes, new races, new maps, etc. So asking for them to stop doing that is tantamount to saying: please stop making new things. And that’s a game ending position to be in for an MMO.
And what makes you think it’s HoT content?
