WP's video PoF Fail to Deliver?

PoF— seems to be nothing but a gold sink to me and most likely the last nail in the coffin. Major mistake in the direction of the game and it will cost them (imho and I entitled to it).

Wait, what makes it a gold sink? What exactly will they be forcing you to spend gold on in PoF?

if you not read this topic on it I think you find it a good read on why it is the new pack is going to be a major gold sink .

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Unidentified-gear-Please-No-No-No-Nooooo/page/11#post6743375

I’m not brave enough to venture more than a few posts into that thread, tbh.

But regardless, I’m not sure how unidentified gear can possibly be a gold sink. If it’s costing you more gold to identify the gear than you’re making from the gear itself, then that eliminates any reason to identify it in the first place, thus saving you time and inventory space. Conversely, if identifying the gear ends up being profitable, that’s the exact opposite of a gold sink. Although if there’s something I’m missing about this topic, I’d love to read about it without digging through 11 pages of “stop making me work for my loot” posts

And that is all that thread is, a bunch of people whining because they do not understand the system.

The unid gear IS a gold sink. But it is not robbing you of anything, you will get far more value from IDing than it costs you. It’s a material faucet and a gold sink, you get far more materials than the value of the gold you input.

You can ID for unique skins and loads more rares than you would ordinarily get from the same number of drops.

Edit: People do not realise that the unid themselves can salvage into low tier mats and you can get 18 of them per salvage. I saw 18 platinum from one salvage. Also, 16 rares IDd from 90 unids.

They need to remove gold from the system. I don’t get how people cannot understand this fact.

most interesting take if I do say so myself . but will say in guild wars it was ok for that . and nice toss back to it even tho honestly I never remember getting any thing of worth from it . when I play that game even today sigh

while I like a good bet as the next person this bet how ever is one I will be passing on till the game comes out . once that happens then we all will know for sure when every one makes topics even more or less on it.

but to remove the gold system its self ? surely your jesting at best right ?? I mean it have to be replaced with some type of currency . even if it was bananas or grapes every games have to have some type of currency system

And any game that generates gold out of thin air has to have a way to make gold be destroyed or there will be massive inflation.

Which is what the unidentified gear serves as: a necessary gold sink.

I think a large part of it was they couldn’t figure out how to keep the inactive WvW maps counting towards map completion or proactively keeping support/bug tickets down from people going: I’ve got everything mapped and I can’t see where I’ve missed anything, when what they’re missing is the hidden WvW maps.

Now the timing of the removal being prior to the WvW maps being rotated out may have been influenced by the complaining, but I highly doubt it was any part of the reason why it was removed.

Another part of it may have been that more and more servers like mine didnt have a WvW population making it really difficult to get certain areas mapped. On my server you would go into WvW and wed have maybe one or two camps, maximum because nobody did WvW, it was awful. On top of that you needed to be decently lucky with the(if i remember right) random color rotation they had set up to get the areas you needed if your server couldnt take them through playing.

Regardless, i think its a good thing they removed it from being needed for world exploration. I just dont agree that they need to make the GoB available through a merchant again(and theyve stated they wont either) you can still get it without playing WvW, just takes longer…

Now if only i had something to spend these tokens on..

I agree, requiring WvW participation over PvE participation for the Gift of Battle is definitely the way to go.

I wouldn’t be opposed to adding it to a PvP track as well, though. Given that you can now use Legendary skins in PvP. So that it can be achieved in WvW OR PvP.

It was removed right before HoT’s launch when they had announced that the WvW maps were going to be swapped out and eventually rotate.

It was removed 7 months prior to HoTs launch date though, i wouldnt exactly say thats right before HoT launch date.

March of 2015 for the removal of WVW map completion as part of world completion, October of 2015 for HoT launch date. While the new maps may have a played a part in it, im sure that people constantly nagging anet about it being removed as part of total map completion also played just as much a part in their decision, because otherwise they could have kept the maps as part of it and continued to make people wait to map them as they did prior.

Ooops on the time, I thought the announcement on WvW maps had happened a lot closer to HoT’s launch than that. But given that anything added for WvW wasn’t dependent on getting HoT, it could have things launch prior.

I highly doubt it was just as much if any part. It goes against the other moves regarding WvW that ANet has done.

I think it was a mistake to remove the vendors. However, no amount of whining has changed Anets mind on this yet (keep at it though, the mapping requirement in WvW was removed because of the perpetual whining).

I say that as primarily a wvw player. Let the thing be bought with badges and let the people who don’t get how awesome WvW can be, leave with their little trinket.

WvW was not removed from map completion due to player complaints.

It was removed because they decided to cycle the borderlands maps and that likely was causing issues with map completion on their end, not to mention locking new players out of map completion until ANet decided to start cycling the maps.

That it fell in line with what the PvE only people were asking for was pure coincidence.

BS They removed it long before there was a map rotation. They removed it because of the complaints. They should never have had it, but lets not kid ourselves. They reacted to excessive consumer complaints as any other vendor would. No need to make excuses for them.

It was removed right before HoT’s launch when they had announced that the WvW maps were going to be swapped out and eventually rotate.

Considering ANet’s done things that make it so players have to actually play WvW to get the legendary, I really highly doubt they made a decision that would mean players did not have to play WvW. So I’m not making excuses. I’m looking at the evidence and making a ruling.

Tell your son to not create anymore tickets. With the announcement of PoF, ANet support got swamped with tickets and it’s taking them longer than the typical average to get tickets turned around. They are resolving more tickets a day than come in so things are getting better. But the more duplicates are created, the slower things go.

Of course, you should have received the almost-immediate automated response. If not, you can peruse the FAQ Sticky above about ‘Not Getting Our Emails’.

Good luck.

I got an automated reply to my email, but zero response on the ticket it self, i read that they had a backlog but almost 10 days since i sent it in, should not take this long, and with the new expansion coming soon they need to hire more people to support.

My issue was not game breaking i can login and play the game but imagine people that have major issues and cant even play the game? As a new player to the game i would not sit around for 10 days and wait i would just go on and play something else and forget about the game.

This is pretty bad imh.

I’d be like “They just announced an expansion pack, they’re probably swamped with tickets.” and be patient. I’d also go to their forums and check it out and see if anything’s been posted.

If you delete all of your characters, you can transfer for free.

HOWEVER, birthday presents are tied to character age and the dyes you get for the birthday presents can be several hundred gold worth in cost if you were to buy them on the trading post.

And the only thing that is tied to servers these days is WvW. So if you guys are not looking to play WvW together, then you do not have to worry about which server you are on.

It takes less than a minute to log in to get your daily rewards and check the trading post for promos …. While agree that something labeled “customer appreciation” should be around longer, maybe even mailed out to the community, Im sure you could have found one minute to log in and snatch up the freebie

Dont even get me started on all the laurels and mystic coins flipped = gold that you are missing out on ….. jeez lol

It only takes a minute or two if you’re already on the computer. If you need to stop whatever else you’re doing, turn on the PC, wait for it to start up, log into the game, wait for it to load and then open the gem store it takes considerably longer. And on most days (Mondays especially) there’s a high probability you’ll find that nothing at all has changed since last time you logged in.

Not to mention the fact that I suspect for many people, even long-term devoted GW2 fans, checking the gem store for new promotions comes very far down their list of priorities in life. Taking those few minutes out of whatever else you’re doing may be disruptive enough that it’s just not practical, even if it’s not a long time (for example if you’re trying to pack and get everything sorted to go away, or you’ve got family over).

Or you might just not think of it at the right time. On Saturday I was thinking I really need to do guild missions more often and I’d make sure I did them on Sunday evening. But come Sunday evening I was walking around the lake outside of town with my husband and didn’t even think about guild missions until I got home and they’d been over for hours.

Ultimately it’s a game. It shouldn’t be something you have to go out of your way to keep up to date with. Sure this is a relatively trivial example, but it’s easy for the same thinking – that we as players should be making an effort to log in at least part of every day – to spread to other aspects of the game. They did a good job with the login rewards by making them pick up where you left off instead of resetting if you miss a day, it would be nice if they could make similar allowances for less regular promotions too.

You can’t say “it’s just a game” and be upset when you miss something.

Something else that seems to be ignored is the fact you do not have to be at a computer to know about promotions. Most people have cell phones now a days, which can be used to check the forum thread that posts promotions/sales, along with checking news posts, or one of those other sites that keep track of promotions too. Bookmarking any of this means you can quickly check your phone which would be less than a minute.

I view virtual shop sales the same exact way I do for non-virtual shop sales, if I miss it then that’s my fault.

Being able to log into the forum is an entirely different from being able to log into the game.

For me, I saw the post about it on my lunch break. 4 hours before I would even be close to going home and logging in. Between lunch and going home, it slipped my mind. The next time I saw anything related to it was today at lunch when I saw this thread.

And that’s not counting players who were logistically unable to log into the game, but could have seen the sale on forums or twitter or reddit or where ever.

Granted, it’s not a huge issue for me. If this type of customer appreciation is the type of gift to expect on yearly birthdays I have no huge issue with them being 1 day only affairs. It’s a “it would be nice” level of issue. Not a “it must be”.

Thats a very long winded way of saying “Its just a game” …. One .. two sentances tops to make the same point you ended up eventually making. I know its just a game … but I have 3 accounts. All three daily log ins, and 6 level 80 flax farms in two maps on main account take less than 20 minutes, a half hour if I decide to do the daily. And thats if Im taking my time.

So players either take the minute or two it takes to get log ins and check TP , I do it every morning over my coffee …. or they lose out on promos. The point is still made.

And the counter to that point was that something is customer appreciation for a game where not everyone may be able to log in during a single 24 hour period, should have possibly been mailed out or offered for a longer period of time. Especially when the other sales for the anniversary sale were seeming to be multi-day offers and not 24 hour ones.

Like the outfit that they gave out with HoT’s announcement and the play for free announcement. You got that outfit mailed to you whether you went online that day or next month.

Mastery points in Gem store

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seera.5916

Because level 80 boosts don’t show mastery. You can stay in Queensdale and level a character from level 2 to level 80. Players use tomes of knowledge to level up characters.

Mastery points signify that you’ve got mastery of the game. That you can find or do the content required to achieve it.

If you want the mastery points, suck it up and do the content you don’t want to do long enough to get the points you need. Because you gain nothing critical to the ability to play the game from getting the mastery points and unlocking masteries.

Ranged Professions in GW2

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Seera.5916

Seera.5916

You are correct. There are no purely ranged professions, and likewise no pure melee ones. I think the nearest you can get is an engineer without the elite specs – then all their weapon choices are ranged (shield skills both work at range).

But you’d still have to move into melee range sometimes, even if you’re still using ranged attacks. Especially in dungeons and Fractals where there often isn’t room to stay far away from the enemy and PvP where they will close with you even if you try to stay away.

To add to this, there is also the fact that most boon giving, condition removing, and healing skills work in melee range only, being away from the group in group content is actually worse. So you will likely be in melee range just due to that, even if you are using ranged attacks.

No, it’s not on my end. Because, you see, it was the PATCH that broke it.

Your “not everyone is having this problem so it must be you” logic is flawed. It’s just very simplistic logic.

What I DO know is that no other MMORPG I’ve played does this. No other MMORPG I’ve downloaded 30+ GB of data onto my hard drive, regularly releases patches that “break” it. Guess what game DOES do this—regularly?

So yeah, get real.

It’s not the patch by itself. It’s something on your computer that it doesn’t like.

So unless you get in touch with support and help them figure out what about the patch and your computer don’t mix, there’s no way that they’ll be able to fix the problem except by sheer dumb luck. And I’m sure you don’t want to wait for sheer dumb luck to happen.

Because if it was the patch alone, everyone would have the problem. That’s just how computer code works.

But if you’re not willing to send in the support ticket and answer the questions that the agents ask you, then you’re going to be waiting for sheer dumb luck to happen.

It doesn’t speak well of any game mode if the developer has to gate certain items behind a game mode just so people will play it.

Is that why Legendary items require the Gift of Battle? I was under the impression that the reason was that the items are legendary and that they are meant to demonstrate active participation in multiple aspects of the game.

I don’t know where it officially states that, but IMO Legendary items should demonstrate a certain level of participation in the game, not necessarily in any particular game mode(s). And if what you say is true of Legendary Weapons, why is it not also true of Legendary Armor? There is no consistency behind the various highest level of gear to indicate that one should participate in the entire game. And again, a game is for enjoyment not for “homework” – IMO a Legendary item should require a lot of participation, but in the mode(s) you enjoy playing.

Because it appears that Legendary Weapons showcase that you’ve played each mode, but Legendary Armor shows that you’ve mastered each mode. As there is a PvE method, a WvW method, and a PvP method.

PvE’s method requires raiding, which is the pinnacle of knowing your class and boss mechanics and team play.

WvW’s method requires ranking up in WvW as you need 250 proofs of heroics. The Badges of Honor and Spirit Shards can be earned outside of WvW.

PvP’s method requires participation and ranking up in the PvP leagues. Which means either a long time of play at the lower ranks, or being successful and to some extent lucky and climbing the ranks consistently. I don’t know if it’s possible to get enough of the tokens in a single PvP season.

In a perfect game, players should be able to play the mode(s) they enjoy – a game is for enjoyment after all.

It doesn’t speak well of any game mode if the developer has to gate certain items behind a game mode just so people will play it. People should play that mode because they fine it entertaining.

There should be some items that are only available if you play certain modes in a game or a certain combination of modes.

The legendary tier items are definitely ones that can be be locked behind playing a certain combination of modes.

Especially since they are tied with Ascended gear which can pretty much be earned doing the content you prefer doing.

You can get the GoB without stepping past Spawn on any WvW map…… there are tings two items called Karmic Converter and Ley Energy converter that allow this, like I said above no matter what Players have had the option ever since Achivement chest were ever introduced that PvE players never have to participate in WvW in one form or another.

And where did I ever say WvW players never have to do PvE to get a Legendary? Oh wait I have stated multiple times that they have to put more investment into gamemodes they don’t enjoy to get them. 20+hrs just for the GoE and GoM on top of all the Required Collection items from PvE. Vs 3-4 hrs minimum for GoB 8hrs tops.

But if it was the patch itself, it would be affecting everyone and not just some.

So it’s something on your end. Such as a bad download. Which happens from time to time to everyone. So it’s going to take some work on your end to figure out exactly how to fix it. ANet doesn’t have your computer with the programs it has installed on it. So even if it was a conflict between your computer and the patch, ANet can’t troubleshoot it.

What am I to do with unuseable birthday dyes

One possible solution would be a vendor (I know that Gaile said they probably don’t want to add another vendor but maybe a tab to the one birthday vendor we do have in LA) that would allow you to trade these account bound dyes for guaranteed wardrobe unlocks. This would keep those with multiple extra dyes from affecting the market yet at least allow them something gainful to get from a birthday gift.

Yea, that was my suggestion above as well.

It wouldn’t actually need a vendor. Just add it to the list of options. So when you double click on the dye pack, you see a list of dye kits and at the bottom is the Guaranteed Wardrobe unlock.

This even helps players who haven’t unlocked all of the dyes as they can choose to gamble for a high priced skin unlock, if they would prefer that over another dye.

1 Dye Kit + 3 Jennah’s = Random Mini Unlock
1 Dye Kit + 1 Jennah + X Mystic Coin (or Stone) = Random Wardrobe Unlock

Chews up the dye kits and Jennah’s that are and will continue to accumulate. For people like me, who are only accumulating Jennah’s, perhaps a 4 Jennah’s exchange for a limited unlock (rarity based).

Empty Mystic Forge positions could be filled with sigils or runes, just to get rid of them too. We could come up with a lot of possible combinations but balancing investment, disposal and reward is the tough part.

Requiring Jennah’s only works for players who continually make characters that last for at least 365 days. Which isn’t a majority of players.

And sometimes due to how things are prepared, they are unable to remove ingredients. Such as in a soup. Or anything that would need to be added well before the person who will eat it orders it.

True – but we both know that this particular request can be done with relative ease. So I’m not entirely sure what your point is.

Sly

If you want it faster than that then play the actual gamemode that is the intended path to acquire the GoB, which can be completed within 3-4 hrs if you optimize your time. Less than 8 if you don’t.

And what about all the PvE stuff that WvW players can get without doing PvE? By your logic, this should be removed? Or are we just ignoring that? Also, you haven’t read the multiple times where I state that I’ve already got the GoB before I even posted.

The thing is:

Anet’s desire to get people to play WvW to get the legendary is akin to asking for something taken out of soup. It’s not very likely to be possible.

ANet’s made decisions to get players to play WvW in order to get the Gift of Battle since the game launched.

It started off with only needing 500 badges of honor and required playing WvW and succeeding at it because only in getting loot did one get badges of honor.

Then achievement point chests came in had badges of honor in them. ANet probably thought players getting the badges of honor would make players play WvW after getting a taste for the rewards within.

After a while, they added a minimum rank requirement. But given you could buy WvW experience from laurel vendors this wasn’t a very good method either.

Then they made it into the reward track which requires you to play WvW to progress.

And before anyone says anything, I don’t think WvW was removed from map completion to appease the PvE players who didn’t want to do WvW. I think it was removed due to them adding in a couple of maps on rotation and making WvW way too complicated to deal with for map completion purposes. The fact that it was what PvE’ers wanted was just pure coincidence.

I do not anticipate that the developers are considering adding another vendor for this once-a-year item. I was looking at the options that we currently have at hand. I’m most interested in learning if the items can be put into the Mystic Forge. I have so many characters on so many accounts, I have to figure out who would be eligible for the birthday gift today.

There exists a ‘Birthday Vendor’ in LA already. The developers could potentially explore the feasibility of giving that existing vendor additional functionality for those that cannot use the dye kits they receive. I have no suggestions on what equivalent ‘thing’ they could trade them for, but it’s an idea to look at.

If they went that route, maybe they could include a way to deal with the multitudes of Queen Jennah minis too.

Guaranteed wardrobe unlock? That way it turns from something account bound to something account bound. And it’s an account unlock like dyes are. And you turn in the dye kit since those are unique to the birthday. That way players can’t just cheaply buy their way through the guaranteed wardrobe unlocks.

I think there should be a mixture of easy bosses and more challenging bosses in the story. With the more challenging ones being towards the end of the story.

When I first started, I had to have help with some of the early personal story missions (like level 10 – level 20 ones). Now that I know the game better and especially know my class better, bosses like that would be no problem for me.

Victory or Death, I’ve soloed it 3 times out of the 4 I’ve done it. The 4th would have been soloed if it was possible to do so.

With HoT, I didn’t have to group up with any but the last one but that was only because I wanted to be done quicker and I was having some trouble with an early part of the mission, which I could have succeeded in.

So maybe if you tell us which bosses you’re having trouble with and what your class is and what your gear and traits are, we can help figure out the reasons why.

I’d say it’s better to try other weapons, maybe not right away due to gold, but being able to play say Clerics and see where it shines over Berzerker gear and where it doesn’t can help a player understand why the meta is what it is. And that’s better than just knowing the meta.

Clerics you have more room for mistakes and can heal yourself better when you make the mistake, but you kill things much more slowly than in Berzerker gear.

-snip-

Don’t make these misunderstood assumptions about what I might or might not be open to, or conclusions that I can draw about the designers intent. My point that they’re irrelevant stands because of the position the request comes from.

As a gamer who appreciates the craft behind the medium, I can infer much from the changes made to the Gift of Battle’s acquisition. It’s interesting on a number of levels. That’s one side. The customer side of me isn’t interested – they want what they want.

Imagine ANet is a chef and I’m a regular customer. I enjoy much of the menu, but not all. I sometimes try a specific expensive dish, but it has an ingredient I don’t like. I try it anyway, but I still don’t like that single ingredient. Next time around, I order the same thing, because the dish otherwise is great. But I request the ingredient not be included (or changed). The gastronomer in me might appreciate the chef’s intent – the ingredient might bring some acidity or spice or texture to the dish. That, however, isn’t as important to me as my enjoyment of the dish, so I ask that they change it.

And sometimes due to how things are prepared, they are unable to remove ingredients. Such as in a soup. Or anything that would need to be added well before the person who will eat it orders it.

What am I to do with unuseable birthday dyes

So all I can do is salvage them for a few silver worth of pigments, thats awful and this should be addressed as these birthday dyes are supposed to be the “big” gift. Just because someone has certain dyes unlocked shouldnt mean they get practically nothing. It would be better to never salvage them and hope anet does something in future.

Do you complain to friends and family who give you things you already have or don’t want for birthday or whatever holiday it is for?

Or do you remember with them that it is the thought that counts?

It’s a gift. Not a reward. Not something given for buying gems. A gift.

Maybe everything they posted was fun for them. Fun is subjective after all.

Isn’t that part of the problem with these legendaries? In the end, every player MUST do exactly same things, does not matter if these are the things they enjoy doing or not.

If you can buy it from TP, then you could still play the game doing whatever you like, gathering up gold. Sure, it is pricey, and takes time, but you spend the time doing what you like.

It’s not a problem that is fixable. Someone will find the means to acquire something with regards to the legendary as not fun. Or they’ll find some other fault with the means of acquisition.

It’s a legendary weapon that the Gift of Battle is used for. That should require play in all areas that it can be used in.

And I’m not a fan of WvW and I don’t do PvP.

The only way it can currently be bypassed is by buying a generation 1 legendary off of the trading post.

I manage to get full raid clears and enough gold playing the bltp. I have 21 legendary weapon 2 full sets of armor 2 backpieces and going to get the trinket soon. I’ve been playing since launch. It takes me 3 months most to acquire 1 and that is if I don’t do the trading post. Maximize your time. Do hot daily meta to get that almagamated stone. Do fractal 40 till you puke. Raid raid raid. All while playing the tp. And you too can be legendary like me.

And when comes the part where you have fun?

Here’s what probably happened, Noctover and Neverknow:

There are some sellers on the site you got your keys from that sell keys they obtained with stolen credit cards. Not all of them, mind you. When the owner of the card sees purchases on their card that they didn’t order (TONS of keys for the game), they obviously do a charge back.

The keys associated with that charge back get black listed by ANet and any accounts associated with them are at least temporarily banned due to the contract ANet has with their payment processor Digital River.

While it appears you may not be able to get your money back for the bad keys, you should be able to at least get your account back if you explain where you got your key from and express a desire to get a new one should you have purchased a key that was obtained by the site illegally. You didn’t do anything illegal, though.

I think they’ve found a decent compromise. You unlock an adept, a master, and then the grand master trait instead of all adept, then all master, and then all grand master traits.

So you might not get the ideal build right away, but you’ll quickly be able to get a complete build.

Depends on the reason for using it. If it’s just a quick and easy way to dismiss a suggestion a player doesn’t like, then it’s just the same as the person who goes no /15 characters.

But if it’s “I think it’s a waste of time to add another class because they already can’t balance the classes that we do have.”, I would say that’s a valid usage of the not enough or waste of time argument.

I really don’t mind if they go ether way. At HoT launch, I was okay with the skill point price and was indifferent about the change.

However, there is one question that goes through my mind when I see the argument, “I don’t want to explore and do the challenges.”

Do you actually want to play the game?

Considering there are still HP trains being organized in HoT maps 2 years later, I don’t see expensive unlocking as a problem.

They want to explore the new lands and play the game with the new elite spec.

Not be rewarded with the new elite spec after exploring and playing the new expansion pack.

T6 Leather still massively inflated

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Seera.5916

Seera.5916

It’s not a supply issue; it’s a demand issue. When you have full blown farms operating essentially non-stop and the price is still high, demand must be far in excess of supply. Strangely, you’re not complaining about the outrageous price of amalgamated gems or one of the other essential T6 mats which are at the same or nearly the same price level as hardened leather. Protip: currently it costs less to buy the final product than the hardened leather necessary to generate the final product.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing. A demand issue is a suppy&demand issue. It can’t be one without the other =P

It most certainly can be. Demand doesn’t have to increase for supply to decrease (think crop failure), nor does an increase in demand guarantee a decrease in supply or an increase in price (they keep pumping out those iPhones at the same price points).

But it is a supply & demand issue.

Because if supply increases at the same rate, then there’s no issue.

You can’t separate supply from demand when talking cost of an item. When people just reference one, it’s implied that the other is static.

And neither necessities or iPhones operate on a truly free economy. Necessities are controlled to a decent extent by the government. Apple sets the price for the iPhone from them. Those that resell them right away aren’t going to sell them for less than they got them.

GW2’s economy opens pretty much with no restrictions other than you must buy or sell for at least the amount that you would earn from selling to vendor in profits.

Suggestion: Make Multi-Guild Optional

My vote is “No”, as a former leader and current member.

I’d even go so far as to make it against the ToS for a guild leader to require 100% rep, as I find the concept patently offensive in a “play how you want” game, as well as being an antique leftover from the bygone age of single guild games.

If you want loyalty, make a good guild and people will WANT to rep it. If you have to demand it, you’re not running a good guild.

I wouldn’t say it’s against the TOS for either what’s suggested or for 100% rep guilds. I’m sure the OP would let his recruits know of the one guild policy and I’m sure most guilds do let members know about the rep requirements of their guild.

Some people don’t want to be in multiple guilds so 100% rep guilds or 1 guild only guilds would fit them just fine for their playstyle.

Suggestion: Make Multi-Guild Optional

Become a better leader and fix your superiority complex and you won’t have a problem with people not representing your guild.

That’s not what it’s about, at all. I’d prefer if a person leaves fully than staying for free training, items and other perks and then spending time playing with his friends in a prior Guild/instead of developing friends in the Guild he’s using services from. I’d prefer to recruit a player that is Guildless and if he’s not into one community-then he’s welcome to leave to a Guild that likes splitting up into multi guilding system.

How about fix your entitlement complex and let a Guild leader decide their own terms as to how they wish to spend their time to people. Since my suggestion was not a mandatory across the board one but opt in/opt out suggestion.

Preference – get it? Not everyone is the same, stop forcing methods onto people and allow people to associate with the style they wish to play and setup they wish to join-that was the plan behind multi Guilding-but it excluded the other side of the coin’s community.

The only thing an automated tool for a 100% rep Guild or semi-allied Guild, will do is help them with admin. That is all. These Guilds exist and there are many. The less admin there is there more time can be spent towards gaming.

Your main Guild might be a Raid only Guild, or WvW only because they’re small and have a small team. Larger Guilds might find tools helpful – especially if they’re doing all the game areas and doing them well. It is just preferred not to spend time on people who are in an only half foot in a way, since it is the leader’s time, and officers and fellow members, for example, spending time with them to train them up.

One of the other Guild leaders on here has a 100% rep Guild, his played since the start and tried all the other ways of running a Guild- He agrees he preffered a 100% method works best for him and his members.

Who are you to decide how people should play? Force your way onto them?

If a person registers a Guild charter it is only them in it, they then define what they wish to create and recruit like-minded people who believe in that way of management.

No one is saying to take away multi Guilding as mandatory. No, rather have a dual Guild system where the public can decide if they want to join multi Guilds or solo Guilds/with options to ally with Guilds and grant exemptions to players.

I take for example Fractals-there is meta builds and same with Raid teams and some Guilds prefer strict structure whiles others don’t. Its the players choice who he wants to join.

What’s wrong with choice, and giving a Guild leader also one?

Because the choice you want gives a bad first impression of the guild leader and by extension the guild. Not saying that you are distrusting or an extreme control freak, but that’s my first impression.

And I’d rather guilds not give bad first impressions.

Thinking about getting GW1 for HoM

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No. There should not be another way to earn HoM items if you do not own and have played GW1. Those titles and items are there to reward those who played GW1.

And I’m someone who doesn’t own GW1 either.

If you want the title bad enough to warrant buying GW1 and playing it enough for the points needed, then buy GW1 and play it. Otherwise, you’re out of luck until you want it bad enough to do so.

Would you risk buying GW1 to get the skins and titles from HoM at this stage of the game?

I wouldn’t, but what I miss out on for not doing it, isn’t worth the time and money for me. And I know a couple of people who likely have a ton of birthday gifts that would likely be willing to hop onto the game and help me with the minis and to get the other assortment of things that they’ve already earned for themselves.

For you, that might be different.

4. We don’t need an antique deep sea suit. I do agree that underwater combat could be better.
5. It seems to work for countless MMO’s that have added it. And guild halls is something that is appropriate for this MMO. The original GW did have an equivalent feature.
6. I would rather raids find groups in the LFG and not in map chat. Don’t need conversations between players to be drowned out by LFG’s.
7. I don’t think adding more classes will ruin the game. Make it harder to balance, yes, but ruin? No.

in guild wars their is only maximum level of 20 . once you hit level 20 that’s it and no more!! which if you played guild wars like you played guild wars 2 you can hit level cap in 3 days !!

more right info here between quests and mission you can hit fast https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Quest

and not only that you get a lot of hero’s in the game to help you fight and do every thing . no need of other people at all as the maps for guild wars when you leave towns

it is just you and your hero’s https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero

you can get GWAMM very easy in that game .

the hardest one to get is this one https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cartographer
cartographer you got to cover all the maps and so forth and use a few small tricks to get it . other wise the rest of them are very easy to get

you can still join a guild or make your own even . its that easy to do .

and to prove that fact just use this wiki and you be just fine .
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

but I will say the ranks that take the longest to get in that game is drunk sweet tooth . and light bringer and sun spear and eye of the north ranks . them are the most biggest farming part to the game as a whole . other wise you can do it with out thinking even .
yeah its that easy just you and your heroes and map and off you go . hope you find it as much fun as us vets of that game have found it .

The OP wants GWAMM in this game, which requires 50 points in the HoM. Which isn’t super easy to do now that the game is older and on maintenance mode pretty much.

why no duel?

in PvP

Seera.5916

Well first of, people not wanting another objective inside SPvP was far later, very far later. There was no one not liking the SPvP at first, the objective as fine. It was first a few years later people began to ask for Deathmatches in SPvP, because they did find the maps and game mode very repetitive. This happened after people “broke” the game and created guilds to fight other guilds from other servers that they were not meant to be able to, only way done was either already knowing the enemy in WvW was blocking, writing name, unblock and then whisper.

And this is where the main event comes in “To Much Resources Needed, Not Worth It” arguments.
There have already been several responses to this, we do not know how much resources is needed, but a lot of people guess that it would not be that much. We have several places witnessed that they can change you from normal green to foe, both in GH, this new map in Heart of the Mists, and even Living World Events like https://youtu.be/pch59ybwHa8?t=826

Coming to a conclusion by your own that it would require to much resources, is like me saying that it is already there, they just do not decide to activate it for 2 players to fight…..We simply do not know, and creating reason behind something you really have 0 idea about is literally not an argument of why not, or why they should do it, it is a theory. if you had just some idea, a hint of an idea how much time is required, then I would start to favor your thoughts, but this is just a moot argument that is unnecessary to ever take up for any reason or any other thread…..literally ever. Using the I can honestly not take this lightly, using that argument should never be a thing, it is literally like saying that you do not know if it takes a day, week or month, but you would rather want them not to use any time on small things ever, no matter how much they benefit the people, afk people etc, because you want that thing that takes years to make.

seems very restrictive, as in any other game I have personally ever played with a duel system………Any of your request does simply not happen, seems as if you are confusing duels with open world PvP.

I am not confusing duels with open world PvP.

No, I don’t know how much work it is, but all work they put into the game has to have justification in terms of players they think will use it. I don’t think the number of users that will use it long term justifies the work that would be required to put into it. It’s not like any of the current areas are being used by a lot of people. Those of you who wanted duels in PvE areas really should have used those areas in order to have proof of a large player base that would duel long term. You obviously don’t want to duel enough to use those areas.

And I was referring to putting duels in keeping in mind the extra requirements that I would want to have in place in order to support dueling being added.

Using even the flat out name would be fair use, but it’s safer for the game to avoid any issue with it entirely in it’s rules. So yes we did agree not to do it, but at worse you just get asked to change it. So technically correct, but it’s common place, non-harmful, and possible since to the best of my knowledge they don’t add the huge database of copyrighted material to be not allowed in name creation.

And I don’t think a character named Dawn soap would be asked to change.

Who knows, I would lean towards it would be because it is copyrighted or trademarked. While the makers of Dawn soap wouldn’t likely sue because there’s no way it could be confused, ANet can’t pick and choose which names that break the rules it punishes.

All I know for sure is, if you repeatedly make names that get reported for being against the rules and they do actually break the rules, you get banned for it.

Copyrights in no way shape or form extend to in game names… it’s kind of common sense / research before saying it’s because of copyright. For example just type in Mickey Mouse to see that the name is already in use.

Just because a name is showing that it’s in use doesn’t mean that it’s an allowed name.

For all we know Mickey Mouse sits on a banned player’s account because Mickey Mouse was 1 disallowed name too many and they got banned for it. ANet doesn’t delete the characters for banned accounts so their name will show as in use.

And there have been posts by people who had had a name for years and suddenly be asked to change it because they finally got reported years after the fact for their name.
