I would personally, why would anyone want a toon some hacker made on their account

OP was unclear on whether or not the character was his or not.

If hacker made it, it would be a good mule until he needed the spot for something else.

I believe the OP states the ‘hacker leveled me a character to L80 (lucky me)’, or something close to that.

I supposed it would be a good mule, but (for me) would probably not match my aesthetics. Lol.

OP, make sure to secure your account, and the email account associated with your game account. You can read articles addressing Account Security in the Knowledge Base: Top of Page – Support.

Good luck.

Which likely means he made the character. So it’s got a decent name and not a series of random letters.

What aesthetics would he not be able to change due to the hacker? He may have to go to lower areas to earn enough money to gear up if they drained his bank and sold his gear off.

But beyond that, I can’t think of anything permanent that would be so bad that I would have to delete a character I made simply because a hacker touched it.

What if there are still a decent amount who do PvP? Just not the majority. We don’t know numbers. The numbers are high enough they are willing to dangle a $50K prize for a tournament.

$50k is the size of the pool, not the size of any prize. That sounds pretty small for a pool. For comparison, Guild Wars had two major championships, one in early ‘06 and one late, both within the first year of the game’s release, and each one had a prize pool of $100k and a first place team prize of $50k.

To offer only a pool of $50k this late in this game’s life is a sign either that they can’t afford to offer any more, aren’t willing to encourage a more competitive environment by offering more, don’t feel like more or better players would turn out for an even bigger prize, or a combination of the above.

And if that’s not where the majority of players are, isn’t that a good sign for the game? That even the areas where most do not play get decent updates?

Excuse me??

So it’s a pool and not a winners take all. $50K is still a lot to spend on an area that too few people play in. So it’s a sign that there are still a fair number of people who play it.

And as to the Activities, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Literally. So please elaborate on your excuse me for I am not a mind reader.

The PvP tournament is simply a different form of advertising.

Aren’t A-Net in Austin now?

The servers are hosted in Austin, Texas. ArenaNet is in Bellevue, Washington.

“Most of us don’t care about PVP”

Source? Statistics? Numbers?

Isn’t that common knowledge in MMOs? If the majority wanted PvP, development would be focused on PvP.

So because a majority do not do PvP, ANet should always ignore it?

What if there are still a decent amount who do PvP? Just not the majority. We don’t know numbers. The numbers are high enough they are willing to dangle a $50K prize for a tournament.

And if that’s not where the majority of players are, isn’t that a good sign for the game? That even the areas where most do not play get decent updates?

uh well first of all make sure your account is absolutely safe, I would delete that character who knows what that hacker was using it for. Make sure you did a comprehensive scan on your computer and change all your passwords if your computer is clean, and not just gw, other websites you might be registered on. Level a new toon, gear it up. You can get exotic armor from different sources: Dungeon Tokens, rare drops, Karma, badges of honor + gold, craft, buy on tp, pvp tracks, etc. No exotic is not the same as elite in gw1. Exotic is the 2nd highest in terms of stats/strength for gear right below ascended, but exotic is perfectly fine unless you do a lot of fractals. There wvw, pvp, pve-living story, dungeons, fractals, leveling etc etc

If the account is secure there is no need to delete the character.

NINE days and counting for a thing as simple as a password reset on GW1. Again, 1107166. The lack of respect for your customers is staggering.

I don’t have information to share on GW1 tickets. They are being worked (slowly) and we do apologize.

Also, posting your ticket over and over isn’t going to get it worked on faster.

When I will need your opinion I’ll ask for it.

And this is a public forum. By posting on a public forum you are asking for the opinion of others. The mods of this forum do not prohibit others from giving information out if they know it. Ellieanna happened to know that Michael doesn’t have the inside scoop on GW1 tickets and let you know since it is the weekend and he was unlikely to post over it. So instead of having you wait until sometime on Monday, she posted it for you via a quote so you weren’t left hanging over the weekend.

Michael is not privy to information about Guild Wars 1 support. Therefore he can only say that they are working on it without giving any details.

Again, when I will need another player’s opinion about the status of a ticket ON A THREAD STARTED BY A MOD FOR PLAYERS TO POST UNRESOLVED TICKETS OLDER THAN THREE DAYS, I will ask for that opinion. Until then, allow me to believe that Michael is competent enough to talk for himself.

Until then, I know how to read and I read all that. It does not constitute an excuse for absolutely abysmal customer service. Recovering a password shouldn’t take TWELVE days (and counting) just because they took away GW1 from the NCSoft website but aren’t able to provide the proper CS on the GW2 website.

So, as I am really not exactly in the best mood about not having access to something I paid hundreds of dollars for over the years, try and let the mods comment on the status of tickets instead of trying to start uncalled for arguments just to feel important. It’s not your ticket, it’s not your account, it’s not your money. Stay out of it.

I’m not trying to start arguments, thank you very much.

I was explaining why Ellieanna posted and why you can’t expect others to stay silent when they know the answer. Especially when they know that the mods won’t be looking at the forum for a few days.

I do truly hope that your issue is resolved sooner rather than later.

I also hope that ANet and/or NCSoft puts into place a better framework for handling GW1 tickets or at least letting the mod in charge of this thread to get information on the status of the tickets. Twelve days is a bit long for a password change if you’re able to provide ample evidence that you own the account (which I imagine you have).

It may help to put the two buttons farther from each other so they are less likely to be clicked accidentally.

how do you feel about passive swiftness?

Why don’t mesmers have swiftness though? We have one skill on our focus that gives 10 secs of swiftness that can’t stack (very annoying). We also have a signet that may randomly give us 10 secs of swiftness. Both of these are very unreliable.

We have one trait that increases our movement speed depending on how many illusions we have available, granted this can make us very mobile in-combat but it is also easy to lose it. So what does lack of movement speed out-of-combat accomplish for mesmers? It can’t be balance since the weakness becomes lessened in combat.

Why do elementalists and thieves who both have great mobility and active defenses in combat get out-of-combat speed boost but mesmers do not?

So that elementalists and thieves can avoid combat.

Guardians, Elementalists, and Thieves have the lowest base health (excluding any from traits and gear). Source

Guardians get damage mitigation through their armor and traits (reflects, aegis, etc).

Elementalists and Thieves are light armor wearers. So they get skills and traits to help them avoid and get out of danger.

Thieves use leather, not cloth…

Ooops. My mistake.

But they still give up the heavy armor and do not have the damage mitigation skills that the Guardian has to make up for their low health pool.

So they get evade skills and traits.

Considering Raids were in a very recent CDI, my guess is not this patch. They would have hyped it to some degree. Too many people are wanting it for them not to get word out so that those waiting for new content before returning can learn about it.

They’ll likely save raids for a feature patch as opposed to a typical LS patch.

In regular jumping puzzles you don’t walk through walls and fall through terrain…

Doesn’t the LA (i think) pirate JP have walls you walk through?

Really though, The OP seems to agree with glitching under the world to be an exploit. Logically that would mean that using unintended methods of avoiding barriers they surely put there with the intention of stopping you is wrong, correct?

Why wouldn’t that allow apply to the bosses and major events of the path?

Using a JP to skip trash I think could be argued either way. Using it to skip bosses seems pretty strait forward exploit.

What about the lions arch jumping puzzle that has that sick skydive at the end.

That’s the pirate JP.

But those walls are marked with lit torches to aid players finding them. Unlike in Arah.

Yes you can. I never once touched my original email to address the issue. Short of going in to grab my serial key, but from what I’ve heard that isn’t required as there are other means to prove account ownership if your only copy of the serial key is sitting in the compromised email account. ANet knows most people only keep the serial key in their email account and it would be in the hands of the hacker if the email was still on that account. So it’s not the end all be all of account ownership proof.

No.

I literally changed my account name a few days ago. From email 1 to email 2.

I submitted the ticket from email 2. The ticket said I wanted to change my email address from email 1 to email 2.

Then I waited. Was on the edge of the three days when it was changed.

The thing is, I can still access the account perfectly and i can still login with it and it hasn’t been compromised yet. My actual e-mail associated with this account have tho, so I don’t wanna lose it because support didn’t help me in time.

I kinda think it’s silly that they still haven’t added a feature to enable users to change e-mail normally through account management…

Dajova, the reason ArenaNet does not allow changing of your email address is because it is used as your Account Name. It is half of your login credentials. So changing it can be a big security issue. They are trying to add an additional protection from account thieves.

My suggestion, based on information from the Knowledge Base, send an email to ArenaNet asking for your Account Name to be changed because your current email’s account security has been compromised. Send it from the new email account. Be sure to include the current service request number in the subject and body of your email so it does not reset your position in the customer service work queue. Be prepared because they will probably ask you some questions to authenticate you as the owner of the account.

Since you said that your email’s account security has been compromised, it is possible that the thief has been sending in password change requests and canceling your requests to change your Account Name (email address). That is why ArenaNet suggests you use a new secure email address to contact them from.

For additional reference. Specifically the section “Compromised E-mail Accounts”:
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/66122673-Guild-Wars-2-Account-Security

No, that is not it. I said numerous times that the hacker has NOT accessed my GW2 account here (eg i still have 100% control over it), it has accessed my e-mail directly (again, NOT my game account, my actual email live.com account). So a e-mail change is all i need for the problem to be fixed! That’s why I’m still boggled why NO1 has figured it out… and probably why it hasn’t been fixed in years…

edit: also, each time i made a ticket, i explained why that was all i wanted and that I typed in EVERYTHING that would them ask me about account verification, so i have no idea why they cant use that instead… eg, full name, serial code, display name, credit card number and everything!

What LyricDawnhagen is saying is the person who has compromised your original email is seeing that you’re contacting ANet about changing the email. They want access to the account so they send in a reply saying that they don’t need any more assistance and then delete the evidence that they’ve closed the ticket.

They’re also attempting to get the password changed and deleting evidence of that as well.

Or at least that’s a possibility. That’s why ANet doesn’t allow for the contact email to be changed through the account. Because if the hacker gets access to the account, then they’d change the email on the account without having to go through the hassle of contacting support where they could get caught.

Which is why ANet suggests submitting the ticket using the new email address.

Start up a new ticket using the new email address and request the account name to be changed to the email that you are using to contact them with.

When you get your email changed they also change the password.

This is because 9 times out of 10, when they have an email change request it is because the original email was compromised. And they assume players have the same security between email and game so if the email was compromised it could be highly likely the password for GW2 is also compromised.

I had a follow up question related to my email change since the change had not reflected on the visible part of the forums (the log in email had changed), but initially the first person who saw it thought I had a Display name change and not an Account name change. I did have to point out that the issue was related to my account name and not my display name.

Remember, the people who actually deal with your tickets are human. Humans make mistakes. Just gently correct them and go from there.

But password change does occur when email change occurs.

How is skipping illegal? There are plenty of bosses that people skip in this game and it’s never considered an exploit. Korga, Lord of the Gorillas, Kholer, etc. In those situations, you still get rewards, but that’s never considered an exploit. I understand why some people might not like skips, but that’s different. It’s not an exploit simply because it’s a skip. That doesn’t seem a good enough reason to me.

Some bosses are skippable without exploits. Some bosses are not skippable without exploits.

Lupi is only skippable if you exploit. So it’s used as a way to tell if an Arah run is legit or not.

It is clear to me now that Anet does not want the users of this forum to beable to find information

If you’re referring to the broken search feature, you need to be aware that Anet did not build these forums, and is therefore not capable of correcting the problems by themselves. So their options are either a) spend more money hiring contractors to fix it, or b) let people use the mostly functional forums without paying any more money.

It doesn’t take a prophet to tell you which of those is the better business decision.

But people could look at their lack of getting the forums fixed as their view on glitches. As long as it doesn’t make the game unplayable, there’s no need to fix bugs.

The broken search function could create a perception problem. If they don’t care enough about their forum to fix it, what’s to say they care enough about their game to fix it?

I’m not saying that’s the case, but perception greatly affects peoples’ willingness to spend money. Whether it’s to buy a game or not or to spend money on gems or not.

Edit: It’s like if you own a business keeping the outside of the store area looking neat. While outside appearance doesn’t have a direct relationship between quality or prices of goods, would your potential customers be more willing to go into a store whose outside looks well kept or in shambles?

Most will choose the store with a well kept outside. So you spend money to keep it looking good. Even though the outside appearance doesn’t affect what goes on inside of the store.

With the suggestions in the proper sub forum, the relevant devs see all of the suggestions aimed for them and not just the ones they can find in the suggestion sub forum (where some may fall through the cracks).

With Logitech you could also use their program to assign a click and hold button that would function like the double clicking. Since this does not give you any advantage, and you need to be present and operating this function to allow it to work I believe you may be in the OK. Really I do not think the CS is out banning people that are just trying to get through the tedious work of opening bags.

But I can say you will never see a CS rep come out and say that something like this is OK. And if you tried to email or enter a support ticket they are going to stick with the 1 click per 1 function ability, along with always being present for any action that is occurring in the game. This goes the same with the debatable use of macros for playing instruments. Since at one point I did email support and received a response that macros are ban-able and it is a 1 click to 1 function action in the game. This is even with many people admitting they use macros to play songs and yet are still in playing the game to this day.

Just have fun in the game, and if something that helps you click through all those bags so that you can get back out in the area whose to say that is wrong.

ANet has stated that they will not currently be punishing for music macros.

This post is the comment by Gaile, it is followed by someone from CS

They have said in later posts that using them for the Bell Choir activity is bannable since there are rewards available from it.

Magic find is used to get better rewards. How much better is debatable, but ANet may rule that even that minuscule improvement in rewards is enough advantage to ban anyone who uses a macro to consume the essences of luck faster.

Extrapolating what macros they aren’t likely to ban for from what was said is risky. The TOS says none can be used. I personally would only use the ones that ANet explicitly gives exceptions to and I wouldn’t hold my breath on them to allow for any. I’m honestly shocked they allowed the music macros.

That is so very odd. What I would have considered childish is to engage in constant name calling and the like, not an effort to reduce such behavior. I guess, “you are a big fat meanie,” is not childish but, “hey guys lets try to avoid name calling,” is ?

This post definitely wasn’t a “hey guys lets try to avoid name calling”. It was a “I make this pledge! Come, everyone, follow me on an adventure to not use these terms and use other, equally-insulting terms instead!”

I don’t understand why people think this is a bad idea. The OP only suggested that like minded players, who have grown tired of this language in discussion threads simply not participate in those threads. Nothing more.

The thing is the ones who will not follow this may use this as a sign that they are winning. That they have gotten enough attention and caused enough people to join in in response that other players feel the need to post threads like this.

It may embolden them to post the slurs or baits more often. Because obviously enough people react to warrant threads like this.

That’s the problem with threads like this. Despite the good intentions behind them.

ANet can control the rate at which players get legendaries by controlling the precursor drop rate. Everything else is either used for other recipes or made with things used in other recipes.

If they put the precursors on the gem store, it means that unless ANet makes the incredibly expensive such that most players would just buy from the trading post or gamble instead, they would lose their ability to control the rate players get legendaries. And drive up the costs of the mats used to make legendaries. And it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them needed silk.

You should add Folks to the list. That slur refers to people in general. I am not a person in general. I am a unique person and not in any general sense, and I consider it an offensive personal attack against me that you would use the word Folks, as if to group all of us together.

Can’t tell if serious or trolling here, in all honesty. If the latter, then you may ignore the next few statements I will make regarding this post.

Merriam-Webster Definition:

folks : people in general

—used to talk to a group of people in a friendly and informal way

: a certain kind of people

I use this word frequently. I refer to my family often as “my folks,”, large groups of people, generally speaking as “folks” (as per the definition of the word), or people associated with a certain group or collective mindset. ALL of these uses are per the dictionary definition of it.

And I’m sorry, but if you really think that it is derogatory to refer to someone as a member of an associated group, you may as well also consider any inclusive but broad reference to you as an entity aside from explicit referencing by preferred name and title – insulting, because that’s precisely what these words were created and defined to be used for; it is impossible to name every individual entity – and requires far too much effort if all are indeed known – associated or included in a collection.

To make such a ludicrous claim that you may not be generalized among other people is contrary to exactly what you’re preaching regarding a a polite society, for it implies you are to be treated as separate from all others on the basis that a word’s interpreted meaning of assertions of affiliation with others because you consider that affiliation as degrading; I.E., directly imposing that all others are beneath you.

I absolutely condemn this thread, for it demonstrates and enforces the ideals of a limited number of individuals upon the rest of many, and immediately assumes that anyone who may use these terms is doing so incorrectly or using them as a means of insult.

In fact, I would go as far as stating that this thread – by design – is toxic (yes, I went as far as to use the term); it not only promotes the removal of the liberty of promoting free speech of using terms which in it of themselves are not insulting and attempts to spread such ideology for no apparent reason, but also goes as far as trying to unite a mere portion of players to rebel against their use for what is really an undetermined reason while also indicating an air of superiority and status to those which support the cause. The intent I believe is good, but it is not satisfying the desired condition to be met.

I promote using words as they are intended to be used, and detest slurs, but none of the these are part of a real vocabulary, and as such, all of them are synonymous with otherwise-unoffensive terms which even when used in their place would not breach the forum use agreement, and frankly if to be enforced, would indicate that people are taking actual offense to the term due to association with historical events which re-raise psychological trauma and reverberate those associated feelings. Simply, the aforementioned words at this point in history due to their generic use towards no particular group of individuals, do no qualify for such enforcement.

Chrispy’s post at that point was made before the OP edited their post to add in a clarification.

The post did not originally state that context would be used and some people inferred that a post would be ignored simply because one of the words was used.

Chrispy’s point about Folks was that the word is only offensive if used inappropriately and that several words in Guhracie’s post were not words that are always offensive (Chrispy did say in a later post that some of the words were always offensive).

Chrispy wasn’t saying that the word Folks is offensive and shouldn’t be used. It was just an example used to make a point.

EDIT: To add a few I agree with. I’m also not saying that these words are ignored without context, I’m saying that when they’re slung around as slurs, I’m not going to engage with that post.

+1.

I wish the moderator would just remove the, to quote, snarkfest comments and let people appropriately pledge to the topic. Or better yet, ban the obvious trolls because those are the ones poisoning other threads.

Just because there are those of us who do not feel a pledge post will get the desired effect post our opinions it does not mean we are trolls. Please take the usage of the words in the list you quoted to another thread at minimum, thank you.

The ones who would sign the pledge likely already watch what they say and only really say the words during a heated argument, during which time pledges signed would be the last thing on their mind. The ones this thread is aimed at likely do not care as they are already aware that insulting others is against the rules.

But that’s just my opinion.

If you have any self respect, and you do a job you dont like to do. You quit it regardless.

OMG this is too good. On the one hand, self respect… on the other hand, having a place to live and not being hungry… LOL Let me know what you wind up doing after you graduate.

Im sorry that i dont intend to live by the ‘earn money till you die’ sort of people you are probably surrounded with. To be more consumeristic as a lifestyle.

I’d wrather travel the world in a crappy van selling clothes and jewelry i made myself. Actually going on an adventure RL, seeing the most beautiful places nature made. If it ever comes to that descision.

Selling out is the worst job you could ever come across with, just saying.

And there are requirements of every job that someone won’t like. Your’s would be irate customers and dealing with suppliers and doing the accounting required to deal with taxes.

Of not liking a task given to you is grounds to immediately quit, then the unemployment rate would be astronomical.

Selling dungeon runs?

i love it when people complain about dungeon selling, do these same people complain about restaurants selling people cooked meals?

- Of course not. This is a complaint why a “looking for group” section is not actually used by people looking for group, but those attempting to exploit the dungeon rewards system for their own benefit.

Buying a dungeon run is like buying a Where’s Waldo book where Waldo is marked with black circle on every page.

And it doesn’t prevent you from buying the version without the black circle. Which is much much cheaper.

And a book isn’t a service which is what dungeon selling is. A service.

A book is a product. Analogy isn’t perfect.

Don’t like dungeon selling, then don’t buy runs. The legit sellers are skilled players and they deserve the extra reward for soloing the content meant to be done in a group of they so choose to sell the run.

But what if I’m in multiple guilds and each guild has chosen a different server?

What happens then? It would likely choose based on who you’re repping.

Here’s what will happen:

Guild A wants to have some spies on Server B. So they get a small crew to start a guild, Guild B, and tie it to Server B. Enough people join so that they always have people on would be willing to rep Guild B for a moment to figure out what the other server is doing.

Now they can spy without having to pay for it at all short of the fee to start the guild.

Imagine what that would do during tournaments…

Been thinking about this one for a while, and I’m uncertain. One one hand this is probably one of the best ways we get new players into WvW, after Mega Server. On the other hand, as you say, 20 people sit doing nothing.

Not that it is much of a problem for us on low tiers, it isn’t like we ever que a map anyways.

This could be solved with the idea to turn Lion Arc into a server specific map, so we got a place to gather up recruits and rally people to server, and craft and idle etc. But it would kitten of the PvE players.

It wouldn’t make me mad and I’m a PvE player. RPers would likely enjoy it as well since they could guest to a quieter server for role-playing.

They generally do not want the UI to be too cluttered and do not create too many tokens. More tabs could be used with the least important tokens on a second or third tab. Basically, do you want more clutter in your UI or your inventory?

I’d rather more clutter in my UI if it means that I don’t have to make sure I keep space in my inventory for the token of the week.

The better thing to do is to respond to their post completely ignoring any offensive words in it.

Of course that’s assuming their post had anything worth responding to.

A post like this will not get rid of the usage of the words. Don’t use them yourself and don’t respond to anything that’s obvious flame bait. If more people did that, the people who do that stuff will get bored and move on to another forum.

Any who sign this are not the people who use the words to be intentionally offensive. They’re actually going YAY over this post. Because someone feels their impact is high enough that a campaign to make the forums a nicer place has begun. This post is a reaction to their negativity.

Imagine this scenario:

You’re running a dungeon and someone takes a break but says, hey, if I’m not back in 5 minutes kick me and continue on.

5 minutes comes and goes and right as you suggest he be kicked, he returns. Other players hit no since he’s back.

Now you can’t kick for 24 hours. Is that fair? When the player being kicked had already okayed the kick and literally got back in the nick of time.

Forum community's view on instrument macros?

You do not get better at playing the guitar by listening to someone else play. You actually have to hold a guitar in your hands and play it yourself. Pretending to strum the strings while the music comes out of a hidden speaker is not practice. That’s what using macros is.

So you’re forced to use the macro to play the instruments now?! I sure didn’t get the memo with that when I got bells over the wintersday activities.

If you feel macros cheapen the experience don’t use it and only tip if you know they aren’t using macros.

Some people are only ever going to get so good or don’t want to spend what little time they have for GW2 getting better at playing music on the fake instruments. So they use macros. Yes, the lazy people who could get better if they actually did it won’t but hey, that’s their problem and not your problem.

And newsflash, some people are auditory learners. Meaning they learn best when they hear. So if they use a macro, they may learn what order it goes in and the timing better than using the equivalent to a music sheet.

I was considering this very question and am torn. Playing an in game instrument well takes skill and I have reached a point where I assume a well played song is just a macro. I would be willing to put up with tone deaf, one note spammers if it meant I could come across a well played song and confidently respect the musician.

Imo, Arenanet et als stance on musical macros is ill advised and I hope it is not solely to prompt more sales of BLTP instruments.

Is there a definitive description from a staff member stickied somewhere? There is a growing assumption in map chat that macros are universally allowed. Perhaps Arenanet et al’s stance has been through a game of telephone.

This is the only post by ArenaNet employees that I know of that gives an ok to a macro. They only explicitly allow instrument playing macros. Gaile’s wording leaves other macros open to interpretation of the word advantage.

Forum community's view on instrument macros?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seera.5916

I wish ArenaNet went and banned everyone who uses macros to play instruments, I really do.

Guild Wars 2 is a game, and there’s a lot to do in it. You can go on an adventure, kill monsters, gather materials, craft equipment… and one of the things you can do is play a musical instrument.

So a player decides to use a macro to play music. This means he or she is not doing anything for the total duration of the song. Well, alright, it seems relatively harmless since the player isn’t getting anything out of it, right?

Maybe that’s how you see it.

You could use macros the exact same way to run around and kill monsters indefinitely. Oh, but now that’s wrong because you’re getting something out of not playing the game. Or is it really different? Instead of making music happen, I’d be making virtual items happen. It’s not like I’m getting actually paid to slay monsters.

So does it really give an unfair advantage? Hardly. A robot killing monsters is not going to get items at a faster pace than an actual player. In fact, a player may be even more efficient at it.

Alright, so if two players relayed each other in killing monsters, 12 hours a day each, it wouldn’t be a problem because they’d actually be spending their time at the keyboard, and so their loot is deserved.

And for some reason, someone who’s practiced a musical instrument does not deserve to get better at it than someone who’s using a robot instead?

Let’s get real. If you’re going to let a robot play for you, you shouldn’t be playing at all. The only thing you can get out of the game is fun. Why cheat?

And so, I wish ArenaNet reinforced that message, I really do.

The comparison between bot farming and musical instrument macros doesnt really work IMO.

1) you say that a bot is not more efficient than a player at killing mons but I think that if you consider the matter more closely you will recognize that players, sane ones at least, cannot farm 24 hours a day.

2) playing a musical instrument does not add materials or gold to a market that is linked to one of the game’s primary sources of revenue.

3) all the macros do is increase the number of people adding music to the game without otherwise affecting any form of balance within the game as a whole. The same cannot be said of bots and botters.

To add to what Ashen said, how does the ability to use music macros prohibit a player from getting better at playing the instruments sans macro?

That’s like saying because there are dictation software programs out there that that means that I can suddenly not become faster and more accurate with my typing skills. Even though I don’t use the dictation software.

That would trivialize vistas and jumping puzzles for all currently existing zones. Now a new zone with a maze that one would have to fly through in order to reach a chest I wouldn’t be opposed to.

I wouldn’t however be opposed to permanent, repeatable, free for everyone no matter when they log in content that is instanced that involved flying.

The free for everyone no matter when they log in is a counter to the LS stories where you have to log in during the two weeks that the LS is active in order to get it for free.

A dev post a few months ago explicitly said it was ok.

I’m not sure which post you mean, but Gaile Gray said “no” to basically the same question today:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/AutoClicker-Macro-Legal-Still/first#post4666463

Here’s the specific post that Gaile made. It was due to her talking to Customer Support people about whether they would ban someone for using macros to play instruments.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/audio/Sad-truth-of-playing-the-ingame-instruments/first#post4546267

ArenaNet employees have only said that action will not be taken against those who use music macros.

Whether they would view an auto-clicker that made you have to remain in game holding the mouse over the item you wanted to click on would be deemed giving an advantage or not, I do not know. I personally would not want to risk my account over magic find.

How to write, so as to not get removed

so any topic asking for more playable content will be deemed a negative thread as it is not ‘good feedback’ and is a request, as opposed to an affirmation of what already exsists? How do you have a ‘Forum’ without a debate, conflict is not inherently bad.

I notice many times people equate having an opposing view as ‘calling out’ someone. Such as when I made a reference to Vaynes responses in that last thread that got deleted, (which many of the people responding to this post replied to also.)

What is that term called when you can hold two opposing thoughts in your head at the same time?

It’s all in HOW you ask for it.

If you yell and demand more content from ANet because they’ve only released poor LS content that you’re sick and tired of, then ANet may be inclined to delete the thread. It’s not polite and it’s not constructive.

But if you go:

“I enjoy the fact that you are releasing some content fairly regularly, but the amount is not enough for me and I’m not really a fan of the instanced LS. I would really love it if there was more content and permanent content at that put into the game for those of us who do not like the LS for whatever reason.”

That would be more likely to remain up.

Our mutual friend Plazad.8705 will also be coming on here to vouch for our friend Tyllanis.7248.

You already posted the ticket number for review. That is all you can do. Anet will not share information related to someone else’s account with you or others. Having friends come to the forum to vouch for others will do nothing and is against forum rules.

I never shared the ticket number so – your statement is invalid – besides – this post if for things past 3 days – we are at a week – in addition to that – he’s banned from the forums atm since his account is suspended so how in the heck is he supposed to speak for himself? We’re dealing with a rather complicated mess because of circumstances so I feel that additional information and supporting evidence/players are needed. I’m willing to put forth the effort to help him as he is my friend so kindly leave us alone until Anet decides to tell us that what we are doing is wrong.

Thanks,
Dragon

You posted the ticket number. Only one person needs to post here for a given ticket. It slows down the process for everyone of multiple post about their friends’ tickets in here. You have noticed how they respond to tickets here in batches and not as soon as they are posted, right? If you and your friends come here that’s just unnecessary time spent on the batch of tickets that he’s looking up that round.

Character Name Wipes?

I disagree about account names being released due to general inactivity….

…but accounts that are permanently banned should definitely have their character names released.

As it has been mentioned previously, locking out those names is part of ban process, so you won’t be able to recreate your characters on another account.

That and what if their account had been hacked? And was only permabanned due to the hacker’s behavior? There are a ton of posts in support that go, my friend tried to return from a long break to find his account banned.

PSA Staff Guardians in the Silverwastes

Thank you kind sir. You have informed me that I should stop running around with my speed and loot weapon in open world, on a slow (mostly) melee class, to farm a small, chaotic map where events come and go in the blink of an eye.

-

Just for reference, many Guardians use burning for damage, not direct damage, so the Staff will have the highest chances of proccing upgraded Virtue of Justice. There is absolutely no requirement in open world to rely on direct damage, to run around in Berserker, Assassin or Rampager builds, and to use optimal weapons.

People play in the way that is easiest for them. It is not hurting you. Any pain that you feel as a result of their playing style is a placebo effect.

Between this and bell choir elitism, I have now seen it all …

The thing is, the events have timers. If the DPS isn’t above the minimum required amount to defeat everything at the level it’s scaled at before the timer runs out, then the event fails. If you’re using a low DPS set up for your particular class, you have contributed to the failure.

So if you notice a lot of Staff Guardians and you have a higher DPS build on your guardian, it would be helpful if you switched to it.

That being said, it is open world so there is no requirement nor should there be an expectation that people will be wearing whatever gear set is meta at the time. Or even something relatively close to meta.

People will always complain even if they did this, why? For them it wasn’t enough content.

Or they don’t like the content.

Or the change in X wasn’t a big enough change.

Or that’s now how they wanted ANet to input that into the game.
