refer to all the current threads on how useless healing power is, how it needs a buff or just to be removed entirely.
So you buff healing with D/D eles as OP as they are in healing?
Better to nurf the effectiveness of all the other stuff.
The door of Komalie was sealed in GW1, but that does not mean it is permanently sealed. There was a scene where the staff was recovered by the necromancer Livia. That leaves the possibility of someone opening it again, or even resurrecting the vizier at some point.
Yes but we went to the other side of that door, it’s the Foundry of Failed Creations and cleared that place of anything, so even if the Door of Komalie opens again, it leads to an empty place now. No reason keeping it locked anymore.
So you got e’m all? Every last one? YOU SURE YOU DIDN’T MISS SOME?
Come to think of it, Ring of Fire reminds me of sitting on the ‘Mystic Forge’ the day after after eating a hot curry….. Ouch, ouch, ow, ow, ow….. Someone bring the fire extinguisher….
The reason you can’t stack kits is simple, anet are trying to sell copper and silver salvagomatics, these perform the same function as salvage kits but get them $$$. If they allowed anything so logical as combining kits everyone would do so and there would be no point in buying their rip off goods. So you have zero chance of this happening. If the salvagomatics were actually worthwhile everyone might buy them but that isn’t part of anet logic.
During the rebuilding of LA in 2012 Lionguard Lyns would exchange Captain’s Council Commendations, obtained from the Mystic Forge for a 250 use kit, these were withdrawn Feb 26, 2013. I had a toon temporarily loaded with these for quite some time.
I have 3 accounts, each of which have a Holographic shattered dragon wing cover. TBH I don’t like them that much and would gladly part with one….
Except they are account bound :p
Free market is free market, get over it and start farming SW Chests.
The market is, in the end, entirely controlled by anet. They could dump a trillion dyes onto the game in an instant and the prices would drop to coppers.
Anet are unlikely to do that but it does make the whole thing a MONOPOLY, not a free market.
Then I am one who doesn’t really like these colors, I have other preferences. There are also other, similar dyes available for much less.
The original reason for the home instance seems to be a place for personal story events to take place. Later the gathering nodes were added, so at the moment the only use seems to be getting materials. I don’t think they can realistically remove nodes now without considerable complaints so we are stuck with them and the instances.
The living story doesn’t mean that much, it’s stopped until HoT comes out. The instances themselves are abandoned except for a few as they give no reward for time spent there. A lot of the Achievements are virtually impossible to get solo and getting team together is extremely difficult.
At the moment the whole thing seems like a sideline to the issue of the rest of the dragons. We killed Zhaitan 2 years ago and since then nothing from any of the others.
These could be added to the dailies, as the missions were in GW1, although they are a little short for that.
The door of Komalie was sealed in GW1, but that does not mean it is permanently sealed. There was a scene where the staff was recovered by the necromancer Livia. That leaves the possibility of someone opening it again, or even resurrecting the vizier at some point.
Its a beta. You are suppose to be testing it out. Not worrying about your inventory space, bank or loot that gets dropped. Everything you asked for would probably take months to implement into the beta that will be useless and wasted time when the beta is over and done with.
They did it the simplest way in my eyes. Gave you gear that you can pick your stats on. The left over gear you can just delete. Same with the runes.. I deleted and recreated toons several times. I never even went to my bank once on my beta toons or touched the mystic forge.. I was too busy trying the new stuff out to worry about anything you posted about.
Then perhaps they should pay everyone $20 an hour for doing their work for them?
They decided on a cludge, then went for it. Not the simplest, or the best. It also meant a couple of exploits had to be fixed. I reported another one during the last beta. As for deleting your toon several times I guess you missed the idea being to test out the character progression, not just test the class. Perhaps you should have spent a few minutes reading what they were after?
Apparently they are not resetting the Beta characters this time, because they want people further along the progression. They have also provided 3 more beta slots for extra classes/characters. That means there is now very little reason to delete.
My main problem has been I open a box then I had to stand around deleting things I had no use for and didn’t want. Why do I need a hammer on a Ranger? Or a necro? or an ele?
Actually I missed one simple step, make ‘new stuff’ soulbound temporarily and give it a trash value so it can be sold to merchants.

Giving new weapons just makes the whole game harder to balance. If the new traits apply outside of the HoT area they are likely to unbalance play everywhere they are used.
This whole process also tends to make classes more alike.
I think they should look at the present weapons, like the Guardian shield, and, where appropriate, give them better skills

I think it shoud get one more shout, ‘AHHHH – KITTEN!!!!!’
In its ideal form, every type of content should have both “easier” modes, and “hard modes” available.
In it’s ideal form the game would detect how well or badly you were doing and adjust itself accordingly, making the mobs harder or easier and also adjusting the rewards to suit. It would also penalise you for any cheating or exploits you attempt.
Fractals are going to have their own unique legendary back piece. Pvp as well.
The really odd thing is that, if a player only does PvP then the stats on the Legendary PvP back piece will be totally wasted. PvP stats come from the amulet alone, in order to benefit from the Legendary status they will have to leave PvP and do PvE or WvW….

So I just completed the Greatest Fear chapter with Tonn and I noticed that for whatever reason the dialogue is muted in some places during cutscenes. This has also happened in some LS instances as well (in Dragon’s Reach part1 for me). Not sure how far this has spread and I’m hoping you can take a look at it.
Thank you.
This is a bit off topic, but I’ll address it.
I noticed that VO issue the other day in the Black Citadel and sent word over to the Audio team. If you find this happening again, can you create a new thread in the appropriate forum and attach a screenshot? We need to see the chat log output (or the text bubble for the missing VO) to get a repro. Thanks!
This happens in most personal story instances as well as cut scenes in dungeons. You can read the text but some of the vocals do not play. The strange part being the scene waits an appropriate amount of time.
Hopefully they will fix this. I still have an Instant Trait Reset, along with a number of other useless things that were previously removed, disabled or made irrelivant by anet.
Another option, if you are a member of a guild ask if someone has any minipets in GW1 they don’t want. Often they will be all to glad to give them to you free. I have provided quite a few of these free to guild members.
Depending on how long you have been playing GW1 you may have a prestige armor set already. Some are fairly easy to obtain.
Having a load of junk in your inventory is a pain, I mean all the armor/weapons/upgrades boxes.
Then you open a couple and your inventory is overflowing with stuff you can’t use and don’t want.
Worse, after sorting it and playing the game you can’t keep any of the loot that dropped.
The alternative.
1) Provide a single set of armor/weapons where the stats can be changed. Make it Karma armor – soulbound and unsalvageable.
2) Provide an NPC to ‘sell’ zero cost souldbound runes/sigils to beta characters. This NPC can also provide free soulbound foods.
3) Allow people to access their Beta character outside of Beta events but only in the PvP lobby. This may encourage people to try PvP.
4) Make the Mystic Forge unusable by beta characters.
5)There is now no point in not allowing access to bank/npcs so duplicating the account wealth is no longer needed. Allow people to keep normal drops, put them into storage.
6) Prevent Beta characters using weapons/armor/upgrades that are not provided for it.
7) write a routine that bundles all the junk, err… very important loot, together and displays it as a side chest for the next character used if the beta character has to be deleted for whatever reason.
I don’t think anyone enjoyed the beta to it’s fullest, far too many bugs.
The Revenant still seemed too squishy for my play style so switched to ranger…
…then found that they hadn’t finished it yet.
Not being able to keep the drops was a bummer too. To be honest there has to be a better way.
Im my mind a few options appear.
Make a ballista and shoot it while it’s being build? Yes there are corners where you cannot hit them I know.
If an Arrowcart is being built SO FAR away from the edge of a Towers wall, that a ballista can hit it, it won’t be able to clear out much of the Siege anyway (if any at all).
In most cases if a ballista can fire out and hit something then a ranger can hit the ballista and destroy it. Where this is not possible just move around the corner and hit the wall, or build counter ballistas.
To be honest so far the only place I haven’t been able to destroy a ballista with my ranger is at the North East tower.
what happened was a bunch of T1 guilds transferred to Yak’s Bend
Not the whole truth, some transferred to Yaks but on the other side plenty seem to have moved off FA and SoS.
What would happen, if the top 3 were not so position locked, would be for Yaks to move up, this is obviously not going to happen any time soon and maybe not at all. The opposite would be for FA or SoS to move down, which isn’t likely to happen soon either. To be brutally honest the lower servers aren’t any more capable of taking on Yaks than SoS or FA at the moment. The last time we were matched further down the table we totally annihilated them.
So it looks like we are stuck playing anet’s version of Groundhog Day for the next 50,000 years…
Far too complex, and may only apply to US servers. A far simpler method would be to tier rewards so that T1 gets slightly less rewards and T8 gets considerably more. That simple change would make being in T8 worthwhile. That would encourage players to move down.
You might decide to stay put for the prestige but a lot of people would consider moving. Once people move down the servers will become a bit more volatile.
Another option would be to equalize tiers between EU and US. Once that has been achieved pair the two together – highest with lowest. Once achieved you can play for either your US server or your EU server. Logging out would automatically return you to your home server. That would also allow Transfer free movement across the atlantic, as in GW1. This would also give the option of fighting with and against new people each week as the servers change positions.
The problem isn’t that someone reported you, someone from anet can check and ignore the report.
The issue is that anet still hasn’t fixed the ability for people to whisp players of the other side in WvW. They could do this simply by disabling the /w command in WvW. To be honest they could disable it everywhere.
No thanks, I want to craft a breather, and it makes no logical sense to have it as just a skin, that is not simplifying anything, it would make it more confusing for new players.
Actually, you do not need a breather, to breath under water. I found that very confusing, when I was a new player.
Your character can survive just as well under water without a rebreather, The way we used to do the Aquatic Ruins Fractal dolphin path when there were still repair costs. We removed all armor including back piece and rebreather. That meant no armor damage if you died while navigating past the krait. Then everything went back on before killing the end champion.
It looks like the devs originally put the rebreather in as they thought it was another piece of armor for people to upgrade without considering the fact that the maximum it went to was masterwork. Then most rebreathers are not salvageable, meaning people are reticent about putting an expensive rune on. There was never any plan for people to craft them.
Reducing AoE healing and increasing damage would possibly help. The problem is simply that huge numbers of players create large amounts of damage but also heal each other and strip conditions very effectively.
I’m not saying that a properly trained and prepared smaller group cannot destroy a blob, they often can. The problem is they really have to be prepared and on top of their game. The other side is if the blob is properly prepared too the smaller group are going to get rolled over no matter what they do.
Really anet created this problem when they limited AoE damage to 5 enemies. They made it worse when they put in WvW rank points. Now, as with other issues they seem totally incapable of coming up with a fix for it.
As WvW is closer to PvP than PvE how about using the PvP amulet stats instead of armor for a week?
In the long run this would be better for newbies in WvW as they wouldn’t have any possible weapons/armor disadvantage due to their level. It would also mean more equal stats for everyone.
Of course it would also mean loss of the legendary/ascended bonus stats, which would equalize players and put a greater emphasis on play than armor stats.
Another option would be for them to produce a single master rune slot to handle all 6 normal runes. The master rune could be produced by putting 6 normal runes into the mystic forge.
Somehow I don’t see that happening either.
The extractor is so expensive that it isn’t even worth considering. I have karma armor pieces with traveler runes on that I wanted to give to another guild member, except I can’t salvage the armor and the extractors are so expensive as to make it uneconomic.
The only people who will use an extractor are those with more money than sense. Which also means anet are losing out on another potential source of income.
DeceiverX, the issue is they hit both siege and characters. If you remove the arrowcart damage then how do you destroy rams hitting the gate? Catapults for one no longer damage rams through gates which leaves ballistas, which often have to be put in precarious positions to damage rams. Ballistas are also direct line of sight, so any ram in a recessed gate may be impossible to hit with one. Trebuchets can still damage rams through gates but take quite a lot of effort to build.
Arrow cart rains down arrows. So yes, I feel the arrow cart should be able to fire everything inside a tower or a small keep.
It’d be great if the objects that they had no LOS would be hidden tho, but overall I like the new functionality better.
Not to mention that the defender can do the same.
In that case a ranger rains down arrows too, and an elementalist rains down fire in the form of AoE attacks like meteor storm. These are mostly stopped from use in these situations so your argument is flawed.
And no, the defender cannot always do the same. Attackers build arrowcarts right by the wall, in select position making it difficult or impossible to see from inside. This may not seem an issue but someone using an arrowcart on top of a wall often cannot see the base of the wall outside while someone outside using the new visual options can see all of the top of the wall and usually far beyond.
The problem is it would be very difficult to cure this issue.
(edited by Serious.7083)
This is quite simple, really the underwater rebreathers are a pain and unnecessary, the function of keeping someone alive underwater could be done by their normal helmet.
They are the commonest item which is forgotten when upgrading equipment. I found one of my characters still had the basic starter rebreather over two years after being created and getting to level 80,
The advantage start with you don’t need to upgrade yet another armor piece. You don’t need a seventh rune just to make sure your runeset works fully everywhere and in fractals you don’t lose 5 agony resistance every time you get a fractal that makes you go under water.
OK there is only one fractal that is fully under water but some manage to fight the Mossman under water on the Swampland fractal.
The stats on the highest rebreather are level 80 rare, which is two steps lower than an ascended helm, so this would increase underwater stats.
Obviously it would be an option to keep the skin for underwater use but mostly this is cosmetic effect. Where a helm does not cover the mouth it can be assumed a magic field covers this area preventing water getting to the person’s face.
Scarlets short story was beyond fantastic, the problem was translating her char into game which only worked so well.
The main issue I had with the Scarlett stuff was simply that after the Royal Pavillion her horde arrived at a location, for no apparent purpose, and then did nothing. There was no plan, no attempt to attack towns or positions, they just waited to be attacked.
Then most of the mobs in game are effectively standing around doing nothing until you either get too close or hit one.
Last time we had one of those, it was scarlet and everyone hated her…
Not everyone hated her and those that did loved to hate her. I found her psychologically interesting, even though I did kill her eventually.
Zhaitan is or was or will be the force of undeath, there is nothing to stop anet deciding that he can resurrect himself anew and give us a second go at killing him.
For that same reason there is nothing to stop Mordremoth reviving or reincarnating Scarlett later. Perhaps she can invade LA on a yearly basis from now on?
It’s a joke, I don’t mean anet should reincarnate her… kitten , where’s my weedkiller?…
A good idea, skins do not change the effect of armor or weapons and so are a good way to get income.
There is presently one heavy armor skirt for Asurans, perhaps light and medium options could be produced? Shorts for short people?
Several people have questioned me regarding the Aviator’s sunglasses several of my characters wear. I had to disappoint them as they are presently unavailable. Perhaps it’s time for these to return to the gem store?
I did find the bugged version of the event more engaging than the intended version. However, it’s worth noting that the bugged version goes against one of GW2’s core event design principles: A player should not be able to cause an event to fail for everybody else.
I believe there have been several instances of this in game where someone can cause an event to fail for everyone else. While GW2 PvE is a co-operative game there is no obligation to play like that, even though most open world events are biased that way. On a number of occasions I have seen players pull extra mobs onto already pressed people in an apparent attempt to get an event to fail.
In the Guild Challenge event Deep Trouble it is possible, if the mission starter does not select guild members only, for someone else to maliciously start the quaggans on their escape before letting them die.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Since release, they have added 9 additional maps. They have also released two Living World story seasons free of charge if you logged in for them and included additional events like the Karka invasion, SAB, holiday events, etc.
They have also completely ruined several maps from a storyline perspective, damaged the storyline itself and produced numerous glitches in the process.
Rather than massively buff the Tequatl event as they did they could have introduced an entirely new dragon lieutenant to fight elsewhere. Try fighting it with an on level toon. To be honest I miss the old Teq.
The Karka invasion added very little to the game and nothing to the base storyline, if anything it was a distraction from core events. The Living World stuff at least led you to find a new dragon, but was this necessary to the core game?
PvP? Not me, it’s far too boring and same. I would rather go and find another game where the company appreciates my time spent playing. As for PvE, only reason I go there is you can’t make gold doing WvW.
As for all the tiers being dead, not so fast. This is summer and holiday time, so fewer players on. Then I’m fairly sure a lot of people left after the golem rush week where devs seemed to be acting as proverbial ostriches with their heads stuck in sand.
One option would be increased loot for lower level servers, but it would need to be considerably more to encourage movement, possibly including free gems or an additional free transfer later as an incentive.
Then I’m sure they have something ‘good’ planned. Yes, I’m either being sarcastic or excessively hopeful, possibly both.
The supposed limits on arrowcart line of sight don’t seem to work.
I would certainly welcome line of sight limit on arrowcarts from outside a fort. I have been killed many times by arrowcarts firing ridiculous distances into towers and keeps. If you can’t see then you can’t hit, same as for rangers.
An alternative would be you can only see enemies and siege your character can see while removing the AoE fire restrictions from eles and rangers. No line of sight from character means you can’t see it either. This would be more reflective of real life, speculative fire on areas where suspect enemies might be has been a fairly common tactic.
Replacing the edge with a much thinner one that only affects movement may also help but that depends on game dynamics.
This is one thing I can fully agree on. There was too much stealth in the game before this, either give everyone 24/7 stealth or cut back drastically on it. If a class cannot survive without stealth then it is too weak and should be buffed in other areas, not given excessive stealth.
Mesmers can burst you down instantly, and often go around in pairs to make sure you don’t survive. If you do by some miracle manage to dodge their spike attack they stealth and wait for it to recycle. This makes them on par with thieves but puts other classes at a drastic disadvantage.
How can you be sure that the keep or tower you have just capped doesn’t have an invisible mes inside? This makes searching worthless or at least unendingly boring. Thieves were bad enough but at least they couldn’t portal their megazerg in.
More cases of devs suggesting something and then instigating the idea without either thinking about what they are doing or asking the players about it. We would rather not have the devs acting as Scarlett Briar replacements sending out explosive ‘presents’.
To be honest at the moment I’m hoping that the new WvW map isn’t as bad as it I fear it might be. If it is RIP WvW.
I tried finishing a sentence with the common used comment isn’kitten and it changes the last three letters to kitten. Yep, I know people use spaces in swears to combat swear filters, and other tactics but there are many legitimate uses for this. isn’t…. it isn’t a swear word, even though your stupid swear filter thinks it is.
Continuing from that post…
Maybe it’s the fact that Trahearne is actually a stable, consistent character that people don’t like. Or actually, maybe it’s the fact that he’s given as a replacement for your Order mentor, who in most cases is a more engaging character whom people actually like. (Although why people actually like Tybalt is beyond me.
Err, no, none of that. I don’t like Trahearne because his dialogue is depressive, constantly repeating ‘this won’t end well’. Perhaps for him it won’t.
Then I’m not enamored on Tybalt either, he may be more fun that Trahearne but his fighting capability is extremely poor. He’s my least preferred mentor. Magister Sieran is unpredictable, a loose cannon, but fun too. Then you have Warmaster Forgal Kernsson, a grizzled old fighter. Not fun directly, but he reminds me of John Wayne in True Grit.
Truth is I don’t think we were given enough time with the mentors before they were unceremoniously killed off. That is, unfortunately, a problem with a lot of the storyline. Then we were quickly shuffled on from our orders and haven’t really heard much from them since.
As for us being in command, forget it. We may be in command in name but that is it. All of the important decisions will be made elsewhere by others. There might eventually be a MMO where you are in personal command, but this isn’t that. jeez, kitten swear filter was turning the last three letters into kitten cause it makes a ‘naughty word’. THERE IS A SPACE THERE…. isn’t . . . .it is not a swear word

I found that most mobs during the beta weekend were a little weak compared to my ranger. The thing I most fear is being buffed so much that the mobs outside of the HoT area will be pitifully inadequate. The more people are buffed the more mobs need to be buffed to compensate.
This needs to be a challenge, otherwise people will get bored, the problem is the level of challenge. Too much and the weaker players may give up. A training area might help. Perhaps under the guise of few survivors setting up an advice camp? Getting people used to new challenges before they face them could mean they are ready rather than just using their old methods.
Flattening down the peak damage of the top players might help too, and make the whole game more challenging for them… (cue complaints)
I was wondering: Are they designed to be rather like a jumping puzzle? Meaning: If you don’t hit the right spot you will fall and you may die. Or do you think this is a systemic issue that should be adjusted through design?
I’m a major jump/miss/die JP-er, so I had to ask.
It doesn’t seem to be a planned design action, and I have had this happen several times even when seemingly perfectly placed to jump. The action seems similar to the Drytop cystals, jumps there can still be unpredictable in that it may cut short or go on for an unreasonable time. Falling off a cliff that should be impossibly far to jump to isn’t fun.
I jumped on one of these mushrooms and activated it. My toon just stayed put, spinning continuously for over 30 seconds, then rolled off the mushroom and over a cliff. That was at least interesting. It felt like firing a cannon and having the ball drop out of the end of the barrel and roll away. The action seemed to stick once started in that there was no way to cancel it, even while rolling.
Dont tell them to move reset to another day x_x next thing yknow, reset will be like Tuesday nights when nobody can stay up late
Whole point is Tuesday is actually a better option. The best would be Sunday night. Weekdays are fairly sparse in WvW and are disproportionate to the score compared with the number of people on.
A dozen people can flip whole borderlands overnight, resulting in a massive score change. Proportionately the numbers over a weekend give fewer points per person on a server. By changing it the influx of people on weekends could give more people an effect on the final score.
Even better might be to confine the WvW matchups to just weekends (Friday night to Sunday night) and have the stupid anet events during the week.
Really? That’s your source? A Google search for golems?
Stop trying to be clever and look at the forum threads. Right now you are looking like a forum troll.
Anet have no clue, they got rid of the dev who did have a clue about WvW.
The real shock is they have done so much damage with very little effort, the double damage wasn’t the problem. Had they kept the supply requirement there would have been few if any complaints providing they had been there to fix the buff bug.
As PvP has a massive publicity machine, especially involving the weekly tournaments, perhaps WvW deserves the same?
My suggestion here is simple, a pair of half hour long twitch transmissions on Saturday detailing the previous weeks action on the various servers in WvW. This would include the state of the tables at the end of the week and individual world’s performance during that time. It could also include interviews with top WvW guilds and solo players.
This would put WvW on a similar path to what PvP is now on. To be very honest I think they are taking the income from PvP and not WvW into account. WvW players pay for transfers, a very high percentage of items in gem store and need ascended armor more than anyone else. WvW is profit for anet, far more than the devs would like to believe.
WvWers are just as loyal as PvPers, if not more so, and far more profitable than PvPers. I’d like a dev to produce figures proving we’re not. I suspect that the devs have been doing some sharp statistical trick with the data, shifting massive profit from WvW players into PVP.
As a Server Leader in Tarnished Coast, I have ordered my Wvw community:
1) Do not defend anything, because it’s pointless.
2) Do not upgrade anything, because it’s pointless.
This week will be very boring for us who are competitive. Like some of the comments already mentioned here, this is EOTM forced down the throats of everyone who enjoys WvW. I hope whoever thought this was a good idea would take a serious step back and look at what’s happening and the general reaction of your WvW player base.
So far this has been the mother of all bad ideas. I have spoken to several WvW fighting guilds and their guild leaders in TC and no one is happy about this. Many of them are taking the week off to do others things. This week, nobody cares who wins or who loses, except for JQ (god forbid they lose 1 week lol, they might implode, wouldn’t want that).
If i may suggest, because I am criticizing I feel I need to put up a viable solution. Perhaps in the future, ANET, when doing a “Golem Week,” consider not going all out on the buffs. Perhaps a slight increase in speed, power, etc. That way golems will still have a clear advantage but not an undisputed, ultimate, 100% in everything advantage, so you don’t wreck the whole week for a good amount of your Wvw players.
Thank you.
This is about it and very good advice. WvW at the moment has become a karma train extravaganza. Most aren’t bothering to even try upgrading anything,or defend anything.
For the guilds there is nothing, there is no skill in using mass golems. For the upgraders there is nothing, you can’t hold onto a tower long enough to up the walls, even if you can the next 40 golem raid will reduce anything to paper again.
The groups that are there without golems seem to consist of thieves and mesmers who use invisibility to gank people.
Admittedly I am doing dailies in WvW, but I’m out of there as soon as they are finished and going to do something else.
To be brutally honest I think the devs have lost it and am starting to dread the descriptions of the new WvW borderlands map.
The one thing I think they should do beyond rethinking the whole idea of special events weeks is increase the Alpha golem’s speed to equal that of the Omega. Alphas are quite often not used as they are too slow to keep up with people.
It depends on your play style and method. If you love playing fair and hard then consider Yaks bend.
Note, Yaks seems to be suffering a near eternal ‘Groundhog Day’ effect. Almost every week fighting Fort Aspenwood and Sea of Sorrows. Same seems to be true of Jade Quarry, Tarnished Coast and Blackgate.
If you want some variety in your enemies then it’s probably better to avoid the top servers.
The whole point of the mesmer having the portal and invisibility skills is to maintain balance. Until the recent Traits changes there was very little other reason to use a mes in WvW at all. They were fairly easy to deal with and their one zerg option had been nurfed into obscurity.
The opposite side of this is the mes is now a one shot wonder, rather like the thief. If they don’t hit you hard enough they then invisibility and come back when their skills recharge. Many mesmers are operating in ganking teams, especially coupled with thieves.
If a class can’t stand up without the invisibility it has limited to no place in WvW beyond ganking. The problem, as always, is that the devs are balancing the characters for s/tPvP and PvE with little or no thought for WvW. What they should be balancing for s/tPvP and WvW then balancing PvE mobs to suit
No invisibility week: All players are constantly revealed. Revealed bonuses are cancelled.
Everyone even week: As invisibility is so special lets make it even, everyone gets permanent mass invisibility whenever they are on WvW.
Snowball mayhem week. Everyone is automatically equipped with snowballs and presents on entering WvW. They can throw presents to enemies, or throw snowballs at them. As someone gains more presents they become encumbered, and unable to move, eventually falling over and having to port to spawn or get their gifts destroyed by other people of their side. Snowballs have no other effect than knock enemies down and interrupt them.
Flower Power: Everyone is automatically equipped with a bunch of flowers on entry to WvW and has to throw them at each other. Eventually people get overloaded with the love and burst into tears. This may be useful during Februrary…
Devs actually read all the posts in WvW forum week, and keep reading them until they actually understand what the post means. Every post has to be replied to personally.
(edited by Serious.7083)
I’m still wondering what the devs were expecting. To be really honest they should have been on checking out issues therefore Friday is the worst possible day to start an event. They need the week to start on Monday for these events to have any meaningful feedback and need to read every post.
The base idea could have been good, but only if people needed to use the supply to make golems. Golems are supposed to be fairly rare and expensive items. Overall it is a bridge too far. They need to admit they got it wrong and stop it, or at least ignore the tick for this week.
Then again do you expect the Devs to actually do what they should? They have been particularly inept at knowing what WvW actually is since the first day.
I think it depends on what you call ‘exclusive’. Items that you worked for in game that were only available for a time and as account bound items should be. Items like the Chinese new year fireworks and Ram backpacks should be, at least until the next time we have a year of the Ram or other animal. In these cases you really should have to be there.
Gem store items aren’t really exclusive, anyone and everyone on at the time can buy them. Eventually they should be cycled back. These items will still be rare, most won’t buy them at all. This includes weapon skins bought with claim tickets.
A few items like those from the Wintersay draw are only available in tiny quantities and as such some like the Greatsaw greatsword are very expensive on the TP. These should remain as they are.
Most of the surrounding area of Lion’s Arch is good, the problem is the theme park in the middle that seems to have been designed by Bloody Stupid Johnson of Diskworld fame.
It has the feel of a sea life park in early Februrary, when it is sleeting down, outside of somewhere like Birmingham, with a few people standing around looking lost.
That is very sad and a lost opportunity. The whole thing about feedback is to avoid pink elephants, or in this case giant lobsters, in LA. It really seems to be that the designers went all out to make something impressive but nobody asked if it was the right thing to do.
My mesmer does weaponsmith. Everything used to be fine, an exotic greatsword required three things, an inscription, a blade and a hilt. I am now trying to get it to lvl 500, so I’m discovering new recipes when possible. The problem is the discovery panel is asking for an inscription, a blade. a hilt and 5 ectos. The old recipes are unchanged.
I made one and the recipe clearly requires 5 ectos.
I reported this issue in game some time ago but nothing seems to have done. So I’m down 5 ectos and a crafting XP item and have stopped craft to 500 because of this. Please fix.
Refunding my 5 ectos would be nice too., as would a new crafting XP booster. A free precursor would be really good but I’m not holding my breath for that
