Edited it to make the item clearer, probably while you were posting. I haven’t seen them so far, don’t think they exist. Thing with it my way is you have a choice, you can just set the option and never be bothered. I personally do not do 1v1 either but it was common in LotRO.
I mentioned it before but:
1.Griefing charges. Enables you to enter combat with a player of your choice. Hostility ends when one of the engaged parties dies. Only the player using the charge and the one it was used on will be red to each other.
The purposes are as follows:
1.Kill botters and AFKers when training mobs isn’t a viable tactic.
2.Introduce questers to PvP, even if you must do it in the PvE open world.
Problem with this is it would be the ideal griefer option, two griefers select their target click charges and kill. Killing AFKers is griefing itself. No.
If you had suggested ‘to give an offer to a willing person to fight until downed’ then I might have considered it reasonable. That would allow 1v1 outside of WvW and hopefully reduce the numbers in there. To be honest they could make that free, providing there was an option to decline all invitations in the options menu.
Black lion ticket scraps make BL tickets, which can be used to buy skins from BL traders. You gather 10 scraps which are then tradeable for a ticket.
Effectively this would extend the same principle to keys so instead of getting 1 key you have to get 10 shards. The shards could drop 10 times as often as keys, making them far more common, even if you don’t get any more keys than present. Then you do know how many shards you have so how close to the next key you are.
Yes, up to lvl 64 items use crude kits.
I’m pretty sure that the %chance for rare materials refers exclusively to things like ectos/dark matter/exotic insigs. Lvl 80 items are the only ones which have a chance for different common material tiers, and even then, only the dropped pieces.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Salvage_kit
This discussion does not apply to rares or exotics. The kits actually say RARER materials, not Rare. Rares and exotics lower than 68 do not produce ectos or dark matter.
That is why it is advised to salvage blues and greens with crude or basic kits, rares over 67 with mystic forge kits and Exotics over 67 with black lion if available free.
If you do not get a report of damage at all then this is fairly common, Engineer flame thrower kit regularly produces no damage, despite the foe being targeted and apparently in the middle of the flame jet.
It may be that the enemy you have hit is immune to damage at that time.
Bug I haven’t seen in a long time. My pet died from falling damage in WvW.
Did they ever manage to cure this bug?
It’s very simple, SM is rarely held or upgraded any longer. That Castle is supposed to be the “Big Thing” of WvW to grab and hold. Way pointing SM used to be a huge accomplishment. Now, no one ever really tries to way point it at all. It just acts as a huge supply shed and something to KTrain. They are adding bonuses to it to make it worth holding. There’s nothing wrong with that at all.
For the conversation of SM not being held or flipped often, I just checked Millenium for how long SM has been held for. Here’s are the minutes held in descending tier order.
NA : 9, 19, 19 18, 70, 196, 69, 349
EU: 13, 52, 5, 12, 52, 773, 1, 7, 13So except for the 3 outlier’s, SM is rarely ever held and upgraded any longer.
That is weird, last couple days i woke up to see a waypoint in SM in our match up. and the match ups before it so this is not really true. Maybe in t1 it might be but not on lower tiers and match up blow outs.
Actually those look like the times that Stonemist has been held since it was last taken, therefore they do not support a low time between ownership transfers. For that you would need an average time held within a period of at least several weeks.
I quite often see SM with a waypoint on a mid tier server. It depends on one side having enough coverage to hold it long enough and upgrade.
As someone who’s played every single class in PVE, PVP, and WvW… Learn to play. Seriously. If you can’t survive being attacked by a thief, then you probably are not very skilled. For a lot of the players who complain about thieves being OP, they are probably the same people who, when they see a non-stealth class running at them in wvw, choose to run away. Yes, if you’re not a skilled player it’s annoying to get killed by someone you can’t just run away from in advance of the fight.
Really big and stupid statement there. I would fight them, if they didn’t keep going invisible and running away. That is the whole problem. I have to be lucky every time and they just have to be lucky once.
I have a suggestion. Either:
a) Arrow carts do no damage to seige
b) Remove Arrow Carts
c) Hide everything that’s behind a wallI’m more in favour of option a
Half of the value of an arrowcart is that it can destroy siege. Effectively an arrowcart cannot do much damage to a tightly packed group because finishing water fields can heal far more damage than they should.
Removing them won’t cure anything.
Hiding everything behind the wall would be the preferred option with a line of sight limit.
Another option is put a clear area outside walls where siege, except for rams, cannot be placed.
That very much reminds me of the Luggage in Terry Pratchett’s early Diskworld novels.
Made out of magical sapient pear wood it follows it’s owner around and eats any attackers.
Hmm, brilliant idea as a ranger pet…
‘All I want for wintersday is my two front teeth’
Sounds like it could be a song…
Bunny ears would be good, as would the kitty ears from GW1.
It should be equally rewarding for assaulting and defending, but equally difficult to do.
Rewarding an event chain and then not rewarding a defense that follows it means people will prefer to avoid doing defending.
Either by sheer force or by the heroes eventually quitting the fight due to either exhaustion or despair (or both)?
After all, even with the best case scenario of Mordremoth’s defeat, there are still so many more elder dragons to defeat afterward.
Then things get interesting. A No-Prize to the first person who gets the following reference.
I’m not 100% sure but that sounds an awful lot like a Firefly reference.
It most definitely is
I asked an anet dev last month, and he/she said “all you’ll be doing is downloading a patch, and you can jump right in.”
That sounds promising, but did they say how large of a patch?
200TB?
Sorry, not being Serious…
you guys trying to give feedback and all but is all pointless. why ? cuz pvp.
if anet dont separate pvp and pve we wont see the changes all the classes need, cuz pvp.
They need to seperate WvW from PvE more, it is far more like PvP and is by far the most unbalanced part of the game.
PvP uses it’s own stats and has amulets containing all of the main stat boosts. There is no foods or similar buffs in PvP, as such it is better balanced than most areas.
Some of the legendaries are of peculiar taste, the longbow won’t suit everyone for a start,
The Dreamer is really a ‘My Little Unicorn’ kids toy, as is Quip, both are suitable for trolling thieves and maybe Quip on mesmer.
Unfortunately making skins for a specific profession is going to be equally controversial. Warriors may want the skins from the Guardian, Elementalists from Mesmers, and the thieves will want everyone’s skins.
That would make the skins expensive to produce and induce grief between the classes as to who got their preferred skin. I agree that there should be more legendary skins but that is already in the pipeline.
T2 to T5 woods are all used in crafting of spirit wood planks. T5 elder wood is available in all higher areas below and including Mount Maelstrom. It is very common and many people farm it. It therefore has a lower price to the lower tiers because of supply and demand.
Salvaging T2 or T3 mats it makes no difference which kit you use, so best save copper and go for the cheapest. T4 items could give T5 mats so again go for the cheapest kit, which has a lower chance of getting the higher materials.
So advice confirmed, for bigger profits use crude salvage kits.
For Level 65-80 items things change, ancient wood is more profitable, so it would then be worth going for a basic kit.
and don’t forget to cut trees/mine nodes you are passing.
As said above, you actually need 7 runes to give 6/6 all the time. Worse the common rebreathers are unsalvageable, meaning you can’t extract the rune on them by salvaging.
I have suggested they get rid of the underwater helm and use the runes and stats from the normal head gear but I don’t see that happening any time soon.
This issue also applies to Agony Resist where there is no slot on any rebreather, so you lose 5 AR fighting under water. In this case it may be preferable to use 5 bits of ascended armor along with exotic head gear to save on costs.
It may have been better to delay HoT release until the day after Halloween ended. They could then have put in a bonus beta weekend to act as a sort of sweetener. HoT could have then run through November and the start of December before the start of Wintersday.
Then we wouldn’t get access for up to 2 more weeks and I can certainly hear a lot of people crying over that option.
You are overthinking things. You have pugs and you have militia. Militia can form a zerg but are generally more organized because they are on TS with the commander. Pug just do whatever and generally don’t accomplish much outside of karma train.
I have yet to see militia in GW2.
Most servers have communal TS so your division here does not necessarily apply. Given a good commander a pug group can and often does do as much as a guild one.
Pugs generally have their own builds, often self made but may be guild or located from a site. They may not have a lot of experience fighting with each other and will not have builds that support each other. These form the basis of most zergs. Often they will spread out into a skirmishing formation rather than be a tight ball. It is common for pugs to be guild members who are playing solo at that time.
Guild groups may be as large as full zergs but generally have spent more time together and have builds which integrate better. Because of this they tend to group closer to each other, stacking to improve buffs and healing.
Both pugs and guild groups can co-operate to make a strong combined force and some servers take full advantage of this.
It doesn’t have to be a message the person types in, just a single button which alters according to which map you are on.
We need help on EB in WvW
We need help on Blue border
We need help on Red border
We need help on Green border
System looks through who is on and informs them of the message. Simples.
Yaks were doing very nicely before golem rush, then all the guilds decided to vanish.
WORST WVW EVENT EVER!
So, as with everything else, we try it and tell them it stinks (if it does), then they ignore us.
I played druid, it did have some nice options but finishing waterfields is far too powerful and makes them unnecessary.
If anet were to nurf waterfields then it would greatly improve game play in WvW.
The main issue is that big guilds earn huge amounts of influence, while small guilds don’t. The result is big guilds could race ahead and finish everything fast, they then stored up huge amounts of influence and some still insisted on people repping all of the time.
To some extent the purchase of influence with gold leveled the field a bit but this is changing. The new Favor removes the advantage of numbers, there is only so much you can earn in a given time – no matter how big your guild. Buying with coin for legitimate guilds shouldn’t be necessary, nor should repping all the time as favor seemingly will come from guild specific events (I would like actual confirmation of this).
It silly for anyone or the Dev’s to expect all the players to conform in a way/ways they may not want too with the upcoming changes and not expect players to show resistance. United Sates of America was NOT founded by yes people as they refused to conform to the British rule of thumb. Once the expansion hits there will be more people like me speaking up soon after wards.
Perhaps you should read up on American history. The USA was founded by yes people, they just said yes to independence rather than colonial rule. Even so, without the backing and support of France and other European countries they could well have failed.
Second, you do have a choice, play the game or don’t. There is no option of taking up of arms and marching on anet HQ, no matter how gung-ho you want to appear.
Cut active defenses where appropriate and decrease peak damage on both players and mobs. Buffing players then buffing mobs gains nothing.
Include mobs where conditions cause more damage than direct.
Stop people bi-passing mobs by using exploits like invisibility.
can we keep the beta option once Hot launces?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Serious.7083
Would be nice if the beta areas were preserved for future use. WvW updates would benefit if they could be tested before being imposed on people.
It looks cool on Norn.
Although on Asuran females nothing is more perverted than the Raiment of the Lich.
- Kodan
- Centaur
- Ogre
- Dwarf
- Tengu
Centaur and Tengu, too difficult to alter armor sets to suit. Fancy trying a jumping puzzle on a centaur? Mapping.
Dwarf. Far too few of them. They’re all constantly stone-d.
Ogre, size would need new armor.
Skritt. Possibly the best option, their armor could be modified from Charr fairly easily.
Really it’s a problem of adding new content to the game, it would take a lot of effort including a whole new story line and not be cost effective.
Why do people like capes?
Tradition. It allows people to show off their guild emblem easily and for many people they look nice. There may be something to do with the superhero cape ethos too.
Then again if a guild had a dodgy emblem, or one you thought was ugly, it was easy to untick the show cape box in the hero panel.
I varied between showing and not showing the cape depending on the character and how it altered appearance.
Actually I didn’t really care if it’s 33% as opposed to 50%, I just threw a number out there so it’d make sense as a horse should travel faster than human on foot. Any percentage is fine really, even if it was 0%, they just have to make it make sense, meaning instead of a running horse, it’d be a walking/hopping/jogging horse. Same thing as that magic carpet, 0% speed boost.
Anyway, when did they try out mounts?!
Invisible thieves can trait for a 50% speed buff, which is excessive.
Actually, thinking back WoW charged £28 for some horses that were no better than the base. I and others had a good laugh at that. I played LotRO which had horses, didn’t improve the game any. Aeon had the same, again no real improvement except for profit for the company and ability for people to stand around showing off. Those that had them thought they were swanky, those that didn’t thought those that did had more money than sense.
In the end it’s a distraction from the game.
The Nebo Terrace defence event scales up rather rapidly, I have managed this late at night with just a couple of people but failed with about 30.
The good bit is you get some loot and then get to retake, which is fairly easy.
The only issue with gathering is cloth, especially silk, which is needed in large quantities and is used as a brake on armor production.
Mounts why? We can already go at a minimum 25% faster, some professions it’s 33% constant speed buff.
3rd party add-ons. The main reason I am against this is that it would be far too easy to put malware into an add-on and cause all sorts of problems. It would have to be extensively policed and checked, which is expensive.
Trinity, you can already trait tanks to some extent, some classes make better healers than others. Really the whole idea of the game was to get rid of the trinity as much as possible, so people don’t have to tank all the time because they have a tank class, or heal all the time because they are a monk.
In HoT the Druid will be a healer of some potential, going some way to allowing your group to play trinity if you want, or not play it if you don’t.
Honorable mentions…
Nurf Mesmers… Nurf thieves too.
Balance PvP… WvW needs it far more.
I certainly would like them to spend some time and update the interface, make it more adjustable.
PVP – Most toxic.
WvW – Less Toxic, potential to be toxic
PVE – Sunshine and Rainbows.
Except for dungeons…
…PvE isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
WvW is mostly guilds vs roamers and balance issues.
Probably SPvP. WvW could beat it out, but since no side can chat at any other side (at least not anymore), it probably keeps that in check. Granted, WvW is still the worst mode overall for other reasons, but the toxicity shows in SPvP.
Not entirely true, you can still wisp someone if you know how.

Why are Quaggans always cute?
They’re so blubberly!
What does a group of hungry charr survivors adrift on a raft call the lone human?
Dinner.
Why aren’t charr the best race?
Because there are norn better!
Why are charr reticent about having Sylvari for dinner?
They aren’t meat.
it takes months to craft a full set of Celestial gear, weapons, etc.
1 charged quartz per day
5 charged quarts per armor piece
30 days for an armor set.
You shouldn’t need more than 6 weapons per character.
So 2 months per toon. What I am really curious about is why you are making so many sets. Celestial isn’t always the best option. You could just make 3 sets of ascended and switch them between toons.
I doubt if the 1 per day will change, it controls the production of other items such as grow lamps and charged ambrite sheets. I would like them to be tradeable but I doubt if this will happen.
It could be included as a gem store item, but there may be few guilds wanting a name change.
You can normally harvest about 19-22 quartz crystals per day from home instance and Dry Top combined. You may also get bonus crystals from the home instance node and possibly charged quartz. If this is not enough then perhaps consider opening a second account.
I doubt if there will be more nodes appearing soon, unless the Zepherites manage to patch up their airship. I have seen oricalcum and mithril nodes in the betas but no quartz. It seems to be carefully balanced supply and demand.
What a stupid idea to drop it with HOT. If anything has been made obvious since this games launch, it’s that ANET cannot release ANYTHING without breaking much more. So why would you release a festival at the same time you drop the first expansion. Yay, won’t get to play HOT on launch due to server issues, won’t be able to play Halloween because of server issues. Get it together anet.
I am sure that anet would have preferred to have the HoT release a little earlier in the year too, others would have liked the same. The problem is plans often get delayed, bugs have to be fixed and new ideas turn up that are better than present or completely new.
They could have launched it a month ago, with all of the bugs then in the build and completely unfinished. That would have pleased nobody.
Can we expect to have the 1st year halloween skins return for the new players and veterans that never acquired the skins with a different way such as a skin or quest reward?
Please, don’t bring back the 2012 BLC skins. Please, let there be some prestige old-time items in this game. The veterans who where there had their chance.
And why should new players access the skins while they weren’t around the first time?
Why should everybody have everything? When that day comes in GW2, it will be a really sad day.
So Anet, when end-game is about fasion, please don’t disappoint your older player base.
I played right through from release date -3 days, before that I played GW1, so I am an old player base person. I counter why not bring these back? You have had plenty of time to enjoy them so why not others getting the same chance? To be honest your words sound just a bit selfish.
There are those who have been playing equally long as you but for whatever reason didn’t get them, why shouldn’t they be given a second chance?
Anet did not say these items would never be back. If they do bring them back then good for them, and those who chose to get them.

I have already said in another thread the Ranger has real problems going 1v1 in WvW.
It would probably be better if the new masteries were be excluded from WvW. Otherwise it will be a pay to win mechanic, penalizing those who don’t buy the expansion and upgrade.
The whole point is stealth should be a very rare thing. Reducing speed in stealth is a good idea, as is reducing the skills that start it.
Then stealth should be fragile, hitting someone in stealth should automatically reveal them.
Mesmers and Revenants should be able to ‘see’ straight through stealth, both classes wear or have worn blindfolds.
Then stealth is a bad mechanic, if a class cannot survive without it then it’s a poor class indeed. Many dungeon running teams depend on stealth to get past mobs.
There is no such thing as nightcapping. Ones night is someone else’s day.
It would be more accurate to call it off peak capping, but the result is the same,
Unless anet produce something like modifying scoring according to the time or people on then there probably won’t be an answer.
Points per kill will not help, if anything it will make things worse. PPK will encourage fighting against defending locations.
On the contrary, they very specifically said early on that they built the system to accommodate level cap increases, and that they planned to eventually.
While “eventually” may never come, they never said they wouldn’t ever.
It has been said several times by anet employees that there will not be a level cap rise, if there was one many people, me included, would simply leave.
I have been there before, LotRO upped the level cap by 5, within the first day everyone on had reached that cap making their armor and weapons useless in the process. I left within a month and haven’t been back.
The whole purpose of the mastery system is to allow leveling of a sort without the cap rise. They have really gone all out to avoid anything that looks like a level cap rise simply because they do not work.
The only comment about increasing the level cap came, if I remember correctly, before release by an NCSoft employee and was immediately countered by anet.

I know this has come up before and with the new raiding coming up is there any chance of making silk the same as other crafting dailies? All the other dailies are 50 units and silk is 100. Damask is the roadblock for all ascended crafting. Its 8 or 9 gold a day to build it up. I dont want Anet to just hand me ascended for free but maybe some other way of getting silk.
It’s not just Silk. The whole ascended crafting process needs a rework. There is no reliable way of farming any of the materials directly, as they are depending on drops. The low level items which are required are unfarmable by level 80 characters, so you are completely reliant on the randomness of silverwaste chestfarm.
Wood and metal can be gathered from nodes, so are much less of a problem. Leather, if I remember rightly is only needed for Medium armor and a couple of light pieces.
Damask is needed for every piece of armor, at least 4 bolts. That makes them expensive and puts light armor characters at a cost disadvantage.
Then I don’t see anet treating this as an important issue, they just don’t care. It is their way of ensuring we do some grinding.
Charr, uuhhh:
- In every dungeon corner I get their stinky fell into my nose.
- living in a metal scrapyard
- worst polluters of Tyria
- militaristic rivalitery from birth on
- used weapons of mass-destruction against a peaceful city
- mass-murderer and destructors of Ascalonian culture
I also always wondered how they evolve: horns (a defensive weapon of an gregarious animal) on a predator animal. They must be th result of an drunken genetic engineer
or it could just be a breeding preference, no horns = less sex = less cubs.
I have several charr characters, engi, warrior, thief. At least one Charr for each of my accounts. The one I am short on is the US account does not have a lvl 80 Sylvari, which I intend to fix when HoT is released.
Sorting out new voices shouldn’t be that difficult.
As this is a repetition thing there could be new comments recorded by the same voice, just providing alternate versions of the same thing. The Charr specific Battle Roar skill does this already <To Victory, Anger Rising, amongst others>.
Then anet could put in a use your own voice pack option, people could record their own voices and just use them locally to replace the actors. Others could then create voice packs and make them available for download.
Of course, you would be the only one to hear the alternate voices, everyone else would hear the original.
Reminds me, there used to be two children, one charr and a human female talking at the bank in LA. This used to be highly irritating as every couple of minutes they would repeat the same stuff.
Now I miss them being there :/
(edited by Serious.7083)
Most classes are fairly well provided with weapons, it’s really pointless giving ranger a rifle as it has many suitable ranged weapons anyway. It is also outside the Ranger ethos. Main hand dagger might be an option. Skill 1, evade while attacking. Skill 2, poison, immobilize, stun, bleed, etc, etc, your foe. Skill 3, evade backwards while gaining invisibility for 10 seconds.
There could be a few unusual options where offhand is used as main, such as main hand shield, Warrior? or torch, Guardian?
Engineer really needs an alternate underwater weapon. Trident?
Elementalist, off hand sword?
Thief, mace, either hand.
Then you could have some class specific weapons such as a bullwhip for Mesmer or Ranger?
A proper scythe for Necro would be interesting but would create a new weapon.
The only problem with ranger is 1v1 battles, especially against those enemies who can invis.
Otherwise they are fine, put a ranger in a group in WvW and it will do a horrific amount of damage.
By adding support staff they can only be more welcome there.
If you think this is bad my ranger pet decided to do off and didn’t come back.
The pet skills vanished except for the unstow button, which didn’t work. I couldn’t change pets cause the management button was missing too.
Very strange being on a petless ranger :/
I believe all professions should have 1 healing skill and 1 elite skill of each utility skill type they have access to.
With a little tweaking guardians can have many heal skills, even at present. My normal build has 5 shouts, all of which have self healing and team wide condi removal. Every time I crit I give all team members close to me might, and that heals me too. I gain even more self heal using greatsword.
Warriors can be traited so shouts do a party wide heal.
Eles have multiple heal options with water skills
The Druid is going to have a huge range of options for healing.
One heal skill? How quaint
