No thanks. We don’t need more levels, just focus on content.
1) Broaden the game laterally with more hobby content, like housing, and I know fishing is a popular one if you could find a way to make that entertaining.
2) Another thing would be instead of always adding jump puzzles, add mazes and hidden labyrinths to explore, no mobs/fighting, but more exploring and possibly some traps, have lore behind them, and if you make it through there’s a chest with a chance at really cool things. Some of them could be instanced so you don’t have players flooding them together and figuring them out right away, but you could do them with a group, or 1 other person if you wanted. This has seemed to go over well in a discussion with a bunch of people I play with, there needs to be more non-combat content, and jumping puzzles get annoying when there is the potential for more interesting things to do with world interaction.
3) Broaden ranger pet options, pinipals, owlgriffons, etc. There are so many cool creatures in the game, but we’re restricted to a lot of mundane/boring ones.
4) Add incentive for people to return to old zones regularly, so that they are more consistently filled with players, you could do anything from adding open world end-game stuff to them, to hobby/lateral content etc.

It’s a good idea for both the U.S. and European markets, because paying by SMS/Phone always seems to be a popular option amongst young people with that option in MMO’s who like having putting their phone bill and others into one to simplify it all.
It would be cool if they’d appear in the home instance, but I really want my own house in this game for me to put all my trophies and stuff in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there are no Dead servers. People are dispersed. Lion’s arch right now always is in overflow. It’s logical that that fewer people is playing in the middle zones…
Anyway… where do you hear that they are going to merge servers? That is absurd.
There are plenty of dead servers. Don’t spout nonesense.
Lion’s Arch overflow is the way they should do all pve zones. Mid tiers don’t have to be empty. There are plenty of people playing in them accross all servers but they are too spread out at the moment because ANET dropped the ball.
Make all pve zones overflow by default and the problem is solved. And they can give up on their useless guest feature that will rarely be used. What a waste of dev time.
Last time i check all servers were Full/high pop. ANET said that population means People PLAYING, no registered accounts. So, There is two options:
1) People are in different zones where you are.
2) ANET liedBesides, you are talking about Underflow zones… that is different about “merging servers”.
servers are always gonna be full or high pop…cause its based on accounts not active players… so your getting fooled into thinking every server is full….but oh no..its not…thats just accounts not an actual real active player.
Uh, you’re actually incorrect because that would mean accounts have been all around deleted over the holidays because since people have been out of town/inactive for Christmas – New Years the population listing for the servers has decreased from full to very high and high to medium on servers that were all full or very high before.
Anet said the server population on the server list is active players, not accounts. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be based off accounts.
130g, down to like 17g now…Gold sucks to come by.
I currently play on Stormbluff Isle, I see people all the time but I wish there were more in general running around doing the PvE stuff but there’s not much incentive to return to zones you’ve completed unless you’re leveling an alt so that’s why you don’t really see all that many people in them anymore…They need to do something to draw people back to the zones consistently.
Orr is annoying, that’s why people don’t bother with it. Like they said, the CC spam sucks and if this is meant to be end-game they should boost rewards and such from playing in it and streamline the process of getting into it so people don’t just run around aimlessly, get annoyed, and leave.
I can’t wait for it to be over at this point, tbh
Yeah I think this is annoying, they’re probably trying to make people go out there and do them that wouldn’t normally want to do them. I hope they stop worrying about adding jump puzzles and focus on building new areas to explore etc.
Stormbluff Isle is very active as well
Ewww…Well this is good to know before I spend gold on T3 lol, hopefully we can get a dev response on this, and everyone should report this issue.
You don’t like the Norn heavy armor cultural for T3? I think it’s one of the best looking sets in the game by a long shot…Part of the point of cultural’s is that they’re intended to be rare, and be very definitive of a each race and their respective archetype profession. I guess I wouldn’t be totally opposed to it but there’s all sorts of mechanical/systematic reasons as to why they never do this in mmo’s that make perfect sense in the end.
How would you want your armor and weapons to look like? What details would you like to see?
Note; I didn’t create this thread to complain current armors. This is just for the sake of style, art and all the fun things that we love to create / see.
I would like to see a bit more steampunk style with medium armors and more pants with light armors. Also hats, I want to see more hats and hair with hats. I added some pictures to illustrate what I mean. All pictures below are random internet findings, not mine.
Okay so everything in the 1st post = a big giant YES PLEASE.
I want to see more “Victorian” era/Industrial era skins, after all that appears to be the direction Tyria is headed in setting wise. So way more corsets, way more mesh/stockings for women, way more dapper options for men, in general I want to see more of the “sexy” armor, and less of the clunky awkward armor. I am a female gamer, and no I am not prude when it comes to what I want my toons to look like in a game, it’s a game, and it’s fantasy.
I think it would be great for it to be for Karma instead of gold, you can farm karma more efficiently than gold right now, even if it’s higher than 250K karma, a lot of people would be choosing between prestigious cultural skins, or saving up for legendary weapons and most would do the latter. The way it currently is set up works against everyone who would want the cultural sets in the first place, but the cultural T3 needs to stay “rare” somehow. I dunno, it’s a double edged sword at the moment cause you don’t want every person of a specific race to all be wearing cultural t3 because then it loses it’s grandeur so to speak, just an alternative way to work toward it would be welcome…So maybe you could still get it with the current gold price, but if you wanted you could use karma? I guess in the end, a change so that you don’t feel at a complete loss if you want it…Money is just really hard to come by for most people in GW2.
I’m female, and I like sexy armor. I don’t want to be hunkered down to ugly, clunky armor. I would enjoy more fashionable heavy and leather armor’s, though
This would definitely be a nice little feature! I don’t use them often because it’s annoying when they get de-spawned or put back into my storage when I sort my inventory.
Well, from an immersion standpoint ….I completed my personal story a long time ago and have yet to see a place in Orr that reflects the shift/change that would be derived from the outcome
On the other topic I agree that the respawn rate of monsters in Orr is ridiculous, and honestly frustrating that I’m getting swarmed no matter where I go. Sure, it’s a continent of shambling undead wandering around aimlessly but I don’t think I’ve seen all that many that are trying to do what they did when they were alive, I’m sure they’re there but I guess it’s not an outstanding feature that many people seem to notice, and once again…I would like them to open a new spot in Orr that reflects what they say will happen at the end of the personal story.
Blood Tide Coast, Help the Vigil in moles head event where you’re wandering around with 3 vigil members…Supposedly soloable, got completely devoured by endless waves of mobs after I had fought off 2 of them already. There’s simply too many mobs in many of these events, and it doesn’t make sense because there’s just not enough players for them anymore.
I have noticed, I am on my 3rd character now and I am just not able to complete many of these events by myself..There used to be one or two other people on my last toon, and obviously at launch there were many, many people to help out.
I definitely want Skritt and Quaggan. I’d love to see Skrittsbrough completed and that content that’s currently there moved underground or whatever, and their Queen or King that doesn’t die every 2 seconds, it’d be awesome!!
(edited by Shanna.4762)
Can you provide specific examples of non-soloable events? At scale 1, they’re all soloable, or should be. Are other players in the area scaling up the event without helping?
This is definitely not the case with all events, many of them really are too hard to solo especially depending on your class. Many “solo” events in Blazeridge Steppes and especially in Fields of Ruin are almost impossible to solo. There’s usually way too many mobs, or waves of mobs, not enough time to recover and they hit REALLY hard for a leveling player. Sure, maybe at level 80 in better gear they’re soloable…but definitely not for leveling players as there really isn’t many players in the leveling fields like before, and the ones that are skip over DE’s because of difficulty. I’ve had this conversation with other players in these zones, and they generally felt the same way.
Thank you for the gallery! I have a question. I completed the entire Sparkfly Fen map, and received all the Stately armor pieces from Karma vendors, even an aqua breather mask, EXCEPT for the shirt. I cannot find that anywhere!! Anyone know where I might find it?
Sparkley Fen at the heart vendor “jezza” in the beginning part.

Oh ok thanks, I was trying to figure out how the whole system works and for some reason my brain was not computing the simple part rofl
So how much would it cost right now to get 100G from gems?
1g = 0.84 USD atm.
=/ I don’t get it…
So how much would it cost right now to get 100G from gems?
The dresses aren’t available in game, and if they ever are i think it will be town clothes.
I’m more hoping that it’s a gem store skin like the profane armor, but I’ll take it as a faction light armor if I must lol
Seeing that they once compared this armor with a GW1 armor, it’s not too far fetched that it might unfortunately be one day sold in the gem store.
I wonder which version they will use : the skirt version or Anise’s ?
I am hoping it’s the skirt version we see above. I think Anise’s is half of another set they’ve shown the full thing for too. Personally, I don’t mind if it’s gem store..Just so it’s available one day because it’s probably my favorite light armor other than T2 cultural skin.
NO!!! The cultural set’s need to stay for that race, if you want a specific look then please roll that race. It adds something to each race to give them a very signature and unique look that you should only be able to get by being that race.
Yes, it’s true that opening all of these armors to every race will result in uniformity, but currently most T1 and T2 cultural sets are just… well… crappy. Actually, most of the armor sets doesn’t strike me with anything too amazing. I am not trying to sound like an kitten, just look at the sets from Guild Wars 1 – they are gorgeous. Either they fired some very talented people, or the designers just got swept in a tasteless direction. In order to back up my argument – here are some examples:
Necro – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/b/b9/Necromancer_Elite_Profane_armor_m.jpg
Warrior – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/9/97/Warrior_Elite_Gladiator_armor_f.jpg
Monk – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/c/cd/Monk_Labyrinthine_armor_f.jpg
Another necro – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/0/04/Necromancer_Elite_Necrotic_armor_m.jpg
One of my top favorites, Water ele – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/8/8c/Elementalist_Elite_Iceforged_armor_f.jpgAnd then, the FoW armor sets (later ranamed to the less tasteful ‘Obsidian’ Armor)
Ele – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/5/5a/Elementalist_Obsidian_armor_f.jpg
The rest – http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Obsidian_armorThe armors I’ve listed are from the very beginning of GW, so they are very outdated. Imagine how they could look right now, in GW2. But we still don’t have them…
The current choice is just poor, not because we don’t have as many options, but rather because most of these options suck.
There’s lot’s of options in the game as is, many of them most people really like, and that includes T1-2 Culturals, I know I love some of them! As for the images you linked, GW2 takes place 250 years AFTER GW1 and most of those armors look very old fashioned for the industrial era the world is entering in GW2 I bet many of the old signature looks will be available as armor skins in the gem shop in the future, along with all new skins at some point too. At least we can hope.
I like pigtails
I’m more hoping that it’s a gem store skin like the profane armor, but I’ll take it as a faction light armor if I must lol
report it in game with the screenshot, and email them.
I don’t think they align perfectly with one real life culture or another. I would say they’re drawn from multiple.
Modern day Kryta appears to be European, possibly a mixture of Spanish and English
Cantha in GW1 took inspiration from both ancient China and Japan
Elona was definitely African & Egyptian.
Ascalon could be British/Camelot inspired….
I know in NewYork it’s common to refer to any Hispanic/Latino as “Spanish” rather than being too specific about where anyone might actually be from. Ironically, when refering to an actual spaniard, I’ve used the term “Spainish” to differentiate. :P
Haha, Spainish…
I think it will always bother me, because SO many people think they are the same, or similar people when the only true similarity is the language and a few traditions, but like I said that’s mostly residual from I guess the “unification” of Spaniards and the Native South American’s way back then. I think it would be safe to say the same thing has happened in GW2’s Kryta at this point too, 250 years later.
Anna Tatiana
Human Noble; Mesmer
Her ancestor was Canthan back in GW1 era…I guess she married a Krytan and moved because Anna is blonde with blue eyes :P
(edited by Shanna.4762)
^
Spanish people are European, they are Caucasian. So many people seem to think latino like Lokheit said.
The main reason may be because many of the Spanish married the South American natives back when they were expanding and exploring South America under Queen Isabella during that entire era, but that’s the only connection that makes any sense as to why people get this confused lol, but that only affected those that stayed in South America. So in actuality it makes sense that Divinity’s Reach is the way it is in way of NPC’s and diversity. I think Queen Jennah may be in some way modeled after popular depictions of Isabella (which is why I mentioned her) because she is rather tan with dark hair, although in real life I think she actually was a redhead lol…
I do hope one day that they expand on Divinity’s Reach by possibly opening up more parts of the city that you can’t really get to even though you see it all around you and they could possibly go into further detail on the state of Kryta and it’s various cultures that way..

It looks like the quality of the hairstyle isn’t on par with what’s actually in the game now, but I could be wrong since im basing it off that specific picture. Hopefully soon we’ll see new hairstyles and and skins we saw in early screenshots and videos of the game!
This skin is actually armor/gear for combat. It’s in the Mesmer Reveal video
and here’s another SS
I don’t mind instanced housing just so that housing is very extensive and not an overly horrendous gold/money sink. The instanced set up would need to FEEL open, though..Maybe they could designate locations within the game that are like open areas where we could build our houses etc so that it doesn’t feel like it’s an instance…I want my space to be fully customizable, and I want to have different styles of houses. My main grew up amongst nobility so I want a house that reflects my choices in-game etc.
I want my ritualist!! While I’m at it I hope they open up Cantha sooner rather than later.
I’m verrrrrrryyyyyyyy happy about this, I kind of wish I could save my original character design though in case I want it back later, though.
It’s not really brilliant, this was unpopular in LOTRO, so much so that they removed it and I think effectively the same system was tried in other games and removed because it was annoying and unpopular.
Where’s the post about January?
I have no idea what is going on there, the layout really is horrible…I +1 TransparentlyOpaque’s request.
Have to be honest, the game is in trouble right now. They could rectify the problems but they have to act now to do that. The whole ascended gear thing, fractal difficulty settings fragmenting the player base, all of that really need to be scrapped and they need to return to their original promise and philosophy for the game, as that was the last version of the game that had almost all full servers. I know 12 people that all quit the game directly as a result of this last update, and a couple more who are considering it. I had to transfer to another server to be with another group of friends that were still playing. Anet threw everyone under the bus, and now many people will spend their time and money elsewhere. Talk about one of the biggest post-launch MMO blunders ever? This last update is at the top of that list, it’s not like they didn’t have seemingly endless amounts of independent negative feedback and angry customers to come to the conclusion that this update was a bad idea. They changed the whole philosophy of the game with this, at least it seems as though they did. And as fun as Fractals are…The whole level/difficulty setting needs to reset once you’re done for the day, because right now it’s fragmented and separated the player base pretty horrifically.
Forums may be called a vocal minority, but in-game almost everybody was against the majority of this update. It was all over the chat channels, it was in groups, guilds, etc. For every 1 supporter there were literally hundreds of angry people who wanted Anet to scrap it. They can come back and say “Oh players are loving this new content look how many are playing it!” Of freaking course they are, you’ve basically forced us to in order to acquire the ascended items, plus it’s new.
(edited by Shanna.4762)
the lost shores update is why, a fragmented player base (due to everyone being at different difficulty settings for the dungeon), and angry disenchanted former players cause of ascended gear. Those are your top two reasons.
The last update is why, fractals have fragmented the population between different difficulty settings, and since they added the power creep along with it that’s all people want to do. Everyone else just quit because thats not what they wanted out of this game, yet Anet ignored the players negative feedback anyway. Same mistake that kills every MMO eventually.
this last update is why, people changed their ratings because it’s quickly gone backwards rather than forward in innovation and uniqueness. If I wanted a power creep I would’ve played MoP or stuck with SWTOR.
Nobody ever wants to run explorables anymore, or do anything out in the world they just wanna do fracs…While they’re fun it ruins the rest of the game.
Probably Storm Bluff Isle, or Jade Quarry. My guess is their populations are about the same, SBI has been the top WvW server for a few weeks now though so I’m leaning on that one.
