No one is ever banned/suspended for “no reason at all”. There is ALWAYS a reason.
The reason could be correct, a mistake, or otherwise, but there is always a reason.
Now name calling shows why you got banned as that is not the way to have a discussion. If you do that in game, it’s no wonder you where banned. You claim players where banned for typing yes or no, can you prove that? How would a player know what they typed that led to the ban if support does not tell them? Are these players able to access information from support that the rest of us are unable to see? Did support give them information that they give no one else? How do they know that typing yes or no in chat led to a ban? It’s very easy to say you where banned for saying yes, but they MUST have some proof of that if they are able to claim it.

I played with 2 anet employees in the beta. It was a lot of fun, just the 3 of us going up against a champion, and reading the devs comments to each other. Getting my butt kicked did not feel nearly as bad when they died almost as quickly as I did. :-)

I was banned 2 days ago for “Inappropriate language”
The ban was for 72 hours.
Question 1: IF there is a profanity filter, what could I have possibly said that promoted a ban.
Question 2: If I did in fact say something, why did I not get some kind of warning, or any notification, besides a THREE day ban.
Question 3: Why was no detailed proof/extra info on my offense given? To this day i still do not know what I did wrong.

I have posted in the support forum page, with no response after 3 days, so I came here.
The ban has 8 hours left.

1. Profanity filter does not give you a license to use any language you want.
2. Your warning was the accaptable use policy you should have read before making your account. No other warnings are given for any offense.
3. “proof” is useally never given.

FYI, there are some posters here in the forums who have an axe to grind with support. Take what any poster execpt the official anet reps say with a grain of salt.

Bought a bunch of Gift Boxes from the store with Gems the other day, and ended up getting duplicates of the minis…. anyone know if there is any use for duplicate ACCOUNT BOUND minis? Or did I just waste the money I spent on the Gems for those?

I really think they ought to NOT account bound these minis, so that people who get duplicates can at least sell, trade, or gift them (since we paid for them to begin with).

If you have 3 duplicates, you can use them in the forge to create a quaggin mini.

I’m sorry if you can’t see my point. In shorts, things that are damaging the game with REAL negative consequences like bots are dealt with nonchalantly. Things are insignificant as like (OMG) bad language is handled so swiftly with a 3 day suspension. Wow, it’s just amazing like why don’t they ban inappropriate language in waves instead.

Good strategy. Transfer some players to enemy server, troll notable commanders until he/she ‘type’ something stupid. Mass report ‘verbal abuse’ from all over the place including players from opposing servers and u get a commander banned.

Like I said, if a commander cannot handle it without foul language, maybe he should not be a commander in the first place? That little blue icon does not give you the right to call other players names, period. What they say to you first is irrelevent, what they do is irrelevent, what you think of them is irrelevent. Nothing, absolutly nothing gives you the right to use foul language. You can argue all you want, but nothing is going to change that fact.

World transfers are currently free, have been since the start of the game but that will probobly change in the future. They are limited to once every 7 days.

I just get a kick out of all the players who come to a new game, and complain that it is not like the game they left and want it changed so it’s like thier old game.
Makes absolutly no sense at all as it seems all they want is ever game to be a clone of every other game with nothing new or original. I think it must be something to do with not being able to adjust to a new game, so they just want the game to adapt to them instead.

When you talk to someone on the phone, it puts them in the position of having to answer your questions on the spot. It requires them to know how to do their job, which encompasses organization and employee training. That all costs money and given my experiences so far with Arenanet, money is more important to them than their customers.

With the electronic ticket system, it allows ArenaNet to have all the power. They can ignore your ticket for days on end. If an employee messes up when evaluating your ticket, you have no way to contact a supervisor for help. They already have the money you spent to purchase the game so there is no incentive to invest in a support system that helps the customers in a timely or accurate manner.

Live phone support is a premium item. This is a game with no monthly subscriptions, do you really expect them to have dozens of techs standing by to answer the phone for support? Do you have any idea how much that costs?
Honestly think about it. How many phone support people would they need? They could not very well out source it now could they?
Look at Facebook, a multi BILLION dollar company with far more resources then anet, and you would be lucky to even get a response to an email, and a phone call? not going to happen.
Microsoft, another finacial giant. You call them after your 1 free call, and your going to pay for it to the tune of several hundred dollars for a single support call.
I deal with support at many different companies and very few of them have any phone support at all, and these are companies where we actually PAY thousands of dollars for a support contract every year, and you expect a game company like anet to offer live phone support for a game you spent a measly $60.00 for?

my client is fine now. so it had to be a file somewhere in the client doubt it was my comp because this thing is only like 3 weeks old lol plus i took it to bestbuy 3days ago to just get a routine check up for it they said nothing is wrong mostly went thier just to upgrade my RAM anyhow mine as well have them check it for free aswell ! but my client is working fine no crashes today

Good to hear. From what I have read and been told, if it’s a game client issue a reinstall will useally fix it. My memory was new as well, only 2 months old. It happens.
But for your own safety, NEVER go to bestbuy for any computer issues. They have a well deserved reputation of causing far more problems then they ever fix, and I have first hand experiance with that. I get more business fixing computers that they have “fixed” then anything else. ;-)

I had the exect same problem. Right after a patch, I would constently crash. Did the repair of the client, and it worked fine for a few hours, then it would start crashing again. In my case it turned out I had a bad memory chip. Everything else on my computer was working fine, it was righgt after the patch, so I had every reason to believe it was the patch that was the problem, and in a way, it was. The patch downloaded curropted due to the bad memory chip, and since the game uses a large amount of memory when running, it was the only app that was displaying any issues.
I downloaded and ran memtest, it showed a bad chip. Replaced the chip and not a single crash since then.

Gaile, you could never be cranky! Your doing a great job and some of us know what a difficult job it can be some times.

And to the other posters, come on guys, give support a break. There are millions of us and only a hand full of them. Give them a chance to work on your issue before posting multiple requests looking for help, opening mulitple tickets, or in Gaile’s case, burying her in PMs. I do tech support myself, it’s not fun. You deal with people who have problems all day, and will more times then not, somehow think it’s your fault they can’t do/get what they want. Support is there to help you, it’s thier main job, let them do it.

The guild leader already controls who can and cannot withdraw from the guild bank. It’s just the matter of unchecking a box. It’s been there since launch.

You can’t. You MUST own GW1 and play it for a considerable time to earn those skins.

First, a little history.
I am the guild leader of a guild that has been around long before GW1.
We have played multiple games, but GW1 and Unreal Tournament 2k4 where our biggies.
I run my own gaming servers, websites, TeamSpeak 3 servers etc.
In GW1, I was the first in my guild to reach 50/50.

Now, in Gw2, I am bored. My guild has basically died as there is only myself and 1 other player who are still playing. (so you may be able to get 2 for the price of one)
I want to get excited again and play more. I want to do dungeons, I want to do events with guildies.
Do you think you have a guild that can get me excited again?

I am looking for a laid back guild without a lot of rules and demands.
People with a sense of humour who can take a joke.
I mostly PvE, have tried some WvW and had fun there, but hate PvP so that should be taken in to account.
Age makes no differance to me, but you should know I am 50 going on 12.
I am useally on every night and weekends, useally between 8 PM and 2 AM EST.
My home server is Fort Aspenwood, but I am currently on Tarnished Coast awaiting a server change in a few days.
I would like to stay on FA, but am open to moving if the right guild comes along.

I have posted before about the terrible drop rate, but something has changed at least for me. Still not a single drop from any champion or veteran, but in the last 2 days I have gotten 6 different rare drops from mobs around the black citidel. Drops have actually been rather decent all the way around. I hope this is not actually a glitch.

I kind of agree with the OP. I find this event rather boring. I don’t care for any of the jumping puzzles due to the terrible camera angles. And after spending 4 hours doing a puzzle, finally getting it done, then having the server reset and lost it, don’t intend to even try another one. Not worth my time. I am not even going to get in to the whole mini mess as that is just too screwed up to even bother with. (and I already have 4 of them, including the Quaggin). Snowball fights where no fun in GW1, and they are no fun here, never cared for them. The weapon skins are ugly as sin, and yes, I have all of them as well but have no intention of ever using any of them, YEACH! The achivements are now something that is out of reach as they have made many of them PvP related, so I won’t be bothering with them.
So after all is said and done, not much to do execpt look at the pretty graphics and hunt for the falling presents, which I have already finished as many as I intend to do.
It would have been nice if thay added a few holiday themed quests, those where some of the most fun in GW1. (anyone remember the guy shaking the present and saying “it smells like a puppy”?) But not one single quest. Even the scavanger hunt for the mad kings book at halloween was more fun.

I have never seen a game deliver this kind of content for free twice (in a row) at the holiday events. They are fun, easy, enjoyable, relaxing and cause spontaneous fun. We get dungeons, rewards, jumping puzzles. I have never felt so spoiled during holiday events until I came here.

If you use the mail system instead of the trading post, your really on your own. All you can do is submit a report. I am the guild leader of an inactive guild. I am thinking of joing another guild just to have some other people to play with.
If I move to another server, what happens to my current guild? Will the guild still stay “homed” on our original server? I understand the upgrades will no longer be available to me once I moved, I am just wondering if it would have any effect on the other members on our original server?

No option in GW2, you only get points for GW1. You can go back to GW1 and add more points at any time, so it is probobly a good idea to link them.

1. Most of them share the same skin with the GOTY item.
2. Again they didn’t excluded ALL the current players. Some koreans got the coke items. Show me one GW2 player who bought the game before the wizard hat promotion who can get the hat. Is there anyone(excluding devs who probably can spawn any item)? No.

1. Irrelevant. At the time of release, they where exclusive to Asia and not available anywhere else as there was no GOTY version at that time. If you want to argue about anything that eventually became available, we will need to wait 7 years and see if the hat eventually becomes available in GW2 as well.
2. Korea is in Asia. Current/new player is irrelevant. Exclusive is exclusive.

As I have said in another post, go to google or the search engine of your choice and do a search for “exclusive for new customers only”. This is a common marketing ploy. Nothing new as thousands of companies have been doing it for years.

Everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. If the devs follow the same course as they have in the past, the hat will be available by other means some time in the future. Then we can all enjoy all the posts from the players who are purchasing it now that it is no longer exclusive and it’s not fair. Mark my words and remember this last post, it will happen.

Available awards depend on when the character was made. In other words, a new player (past year or so) will have to wait 7 years to get a chance at some of the miniatures, despite the fact that it is an old game, and may not even be online by then.

ANY. Any=/= some. I dont hate that an item is extremely limited. Did they said that the key for the Island Guardian mini can ONLY be applied to new accounts and is not going to work on ANY of the current account? No. The mini was extremely limited, but they didn’t excluded ALL of the current customers in that promotion. Most of them, but not ALL.

The closest you can get to this kind of promotion in the original Guild Wars is the release of Game of the Year Boxm which included some bonus weapons with unique skins.

This is Guild Wars.

Guild Wars 1 or 2, it’s still the Guild Wars franchise.

Guild Wars has ALWAYS had exclusive in game items, 7 plus years of exclusive items.
Some available only to players living in specific countries, some only available to players purchasing specific magazines, players who attended real world events, players who purchased real world items, players who purchased specific expansions at specific times, players who subscribed to specific online mailing lists, the list goes on and on, and on. This has always been a part of the Guild Wars franchise and probably always will be. To be perfectly honest, if you do not like exclusive in game items, this may not be the game for you.

I am getting so sick and tired of players who come from other games and always use the excuse “this is how they did it in such and such a game, Anet should do this also”, well guess what? this is not the other games you have played, this is GUILD WARS and in Guild Wars, there are exclusive items.

In PvE, I pretty much ignore the icon. I may see it, but really take no notice of it otherwise. That being said, I have used it to find a DE.
I do not really do WvW, but I have gone in several times to get the maps, and I can easily see how it is extremely useful there.
Players who feel they need to send you nasty PMs should just be reported.

That’s very simple, if they gave it to everyone, it would no longer be an exclusive item that they could use to entice new players to join. Exclusive, by defination means “excluding or intending to exclude many from participation” so giving it to all or making it available to all means it would no longer be an exclusive item.
The game is filled with exclusive items, the Mad Kings book from the halloween event, the karka chest, baseball cap, etc. GW1 had the same things, they had hats that where exclusive to different events and only the players who attended those events got one.

They are trying to get new players. Would you prefer they stop trying to sell copies of the game, so as players leave, the game dies a slow death? Companies have sales and promotions, it’s a fact of life. In a few months, you will probobly be able to pick up the game for $10.00, should they then refund the differance to all the players who payed more?

This same thing happened in GW1. They had promotions for different parts of the world giving different mini pets and weapon skins.

OP, I hear you loud and clear. I also feel this way. I log on to GW2 now mainly to do my dailies, and thats about it. I want to love GW2, I really do, but with all the bugs, the lies, ignoring the pleas for help, hacking, botting, and the self admitted poor decisions by the devs, I just can’t. I am not even excited about wintersday. They have disappointed me so MANY times, I just don’t really care anymore. I think I will spend most of wintersday in GW1 with my heros. I miss them……

Don’t forget, those who purchased previously had other opportunities: Beta access, Head-start access, digital items, the post-trial offer, event participation, etc. With each promotion there are different incentives.

I’m usually not one to complain but I think it’s important to note that this is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen from a company. I’m actually in disbelief. I don’t care much for novelty items but this is a total slap in the face to anyone who does (and has been supporting the game since launch).

Basically you’re rewarding people who have never played for buying the game and punishing those who have been helping you out all along. Also I love how you think paying to test the game for your company is somehow a perk to the consumer.

I really love(d) this game but the support is totally killing it.. and things like this only serve to add more nails to the coffin.

Come on people, this is nothing new, pretty much all companies do this and have for a very long time. My local cable company offers HBO free for 6 months to “new subscribers”. The local phone company has offered free caller ID for “new customers”. My ISP has offered free MP3 players to “new subscribers”. Nothing new, nothing wrong with it at all. Have none of you seen offers where you buy a new video card and get a free game? Try this, go to google, and do a search on the phrase “offers for new customers only”.
Of all the many things about the game to complain about, this is not one of them.

There is nothing wrong with vertical progression, i played a lot of games with vertical progression in the past, but the problem is when you add vertical progression in a game that was advertised without it (or is better to say, without a mandatory gear grind).

If someone tell you that a new drink is the thing you will love if you hate coke, and then the new drink taste EXACLTY like a coke, someone will surely love it, but the original buyers the ones that thrust on the advertise, have all the rights to be concerned.

While this is true and I cant dissagee with your point, not a single person has complained about lvling from 1-80? Why not? no one brought this up in beta and its exactly what vertical progression is, if you wanted to complain then was the time to do it.

There is not even a response to that, I would suggest you go read the many, MANY threads and comments on the subject as you seem to have no grasp of what the issue is and I am not going to waste my time trying to explain what has been explained before.

This game does have vertical progressions and they do fail. Look at the low-mid level map.

Every game with a level scale have a component of vertical progression, the real difference is what devs create when you hit the max level.

The wow like game have new tiers with a totally different level, on the old wrath of the lich king a level 80 char had item with level from 200 to 284 (i stopped to play on wotlk, so i dont know the items level for cata and pandaland)

The GW model is totally different, because after reaching the max level, you dont change stats, but only skins rarity.

The idea of rewarding progression with a new skin is great in my opinion however there is one problem with it, people are only likely to do these new things if the skin is something they like or want.

Giving players a reward with a stat + on it, regardless of how small that bonus means people have more of an incentive to go and get it.

But that’s the point, you have already been proven wrong. In GW1, players worked for years to get the FOW armor, which was some of the ugliest armor in the game, but having it was an elite status, so players still worked for it. No better stats, just a skin which was not the best in game, and players worked for years? How do you explain that?

I keep saying this, but don’t get too over zealous about reporting teleporting miners.

I’m not a bot, and I’ve gotten into the habit or parking my alts in front of resource nodes when I’m done with them.

Then when I decide to play next, I quickly pop onto each of my alts to snag the ore sitting in front of them before moving on with the character I want to play.

I often wonder how many times I’ve been reported.

Not the same thing. The teleport bots gather far faster then any player can, that is why it’s so hard to report them They apear, seem to gather for a fraction of a second, then disappear. And honestly, do you do that with copper nodes? the bots do. If you go to frost gorge, you can watch the same bot go from node to node, instently disappearing from one and appearing at another. They gather everything, copper, iron, gold, it makes no differance. I don’t think any legit player is going to camp a copper node when you could just run around the map and grab dozens in a short time, actually, the same for just about any resource with the execptopn of oricalcum, which is never really in the same place execpt for 1 or 2 nodes.
Or do you actually camp low level resurces? if you do, why?
