but in the end, it is really the fault of the guild leader for giving him so much power and authority.
So, it’s the fault of the guild leader for trusting this guy and considering him a friend, and not the fault of the other guy who purposefully carried out these actions? Shame on the victim!
Sorry, but in this case yes. It is the victims fault. You are under the assumption that any member with kick privileges can kick anyone else, including the guild leader. This is not how it works. A member can only kick other members with the same rank or lower. The permission actually says “admin lower ranks”. In order for this person to kick the guild leader, the leader had to have prompted him to the same level as the leader. Basically, your guild leader made this person the guild leader as well. While it is a good idea to have at least 2 guild leaders in case of any issues, the choice of who to make a co-leader has to be VERY carefully thought out. The co-leader of my guild has been playing with me for over 12 years. I know him. Under no condition would I make someone I met I game and knew less then a year the leader of my guild.
Well, thanks for calling me a liar when I didn’t have all the information. He changed the MOTD and announced the new name of the guild, despite the actual name not having changed. I figured he could change the actual name of the guild just as easily. But hey, apparently I’m making things up now.
He was not calling you a liar, simply pointing out that your information was inaccurate.
No one except support can rename a guild, and even support will only do it in very rare cases.
I am sorry to say, I don’t see you getting any help here at all. This is similar to what happens when a player empties the guild bank then leaves the guild.
As I see it, this person was promoted to a position that gave him full control over the guild. He did not steal it, it was given to him on a silver platter. If you promote a player to a position and give him permissions to kick players, you cannot then complain if he kicks players. He was given permissions to remove gold from the guild bank, which he did. Is what he did underhanded and low? absolutely!, but in the end, it is really the fault of the guild leader for giving him so much power and authority.
what about pride and boasting for competitions between friends, you have got the boasting to public down to a t and i agree with you but youre not seeing the full picture
@shiningsquirrel
What full picture?
The op was talking about public chat in LA. If your going to be talking to friends, why on earth would anyone want to clutter up public chat with that? You should either use guild, party or whispers. It’s comparing apples to hand grenades, the 2 subjects really have to relationship to each other.
Who actually cares about how “skilled” another player is? If I heard player x solo’ed a specific dungeon, I would think cool, guy/girl knows what they are doing. I see some one posting in chat “skilled player lfg”, and I think skilled how? This is a game. Games are meant to be fun. If a player in my groups dies right and left, can’t take down a mob to save their own life but are fun to play with? that’s who I am going to group with. On the other hand, if a player can beat the entire game solo, has every legendary available and 1 million in gold sitting in his bank, but thinks he is god’s gift to the game and lets everyone know it, he is not getting in my group.
Years ago when I took martial arts, my instructor used to say if you saw a guy in a bar boasting about how good he was you could probably take him down with a slap to the back of the head. It was the guy who sat with his back to the wall, not saying a word that you had to worry about.
I was really disappointed after reading the comments in the forums yesterday before I logged on. I thought it was going to be a real bust. 100,000 candy for the wings? crazy!
Well I logged on last night and was pleasantly surprised. After playing for 2 hours, I had all the minis except the moa racer. I had the only 2 jade skins I really liked, the fireworks achievement, the candy achievement and I am pretty close to the piñata and holo killer achievements. After seeing the wings, I no longer have any interest in them, so I really don’t need any candy any more. What I collect I will be either selling or trading for other consumables. All in all, I pretty much accomplished most of what I wanted to do on the very first day.
OK, just heard from a guildie, he got over 2 stacks in less then an hour, just running around doing the holos so apparently it is possible to do a lot better then 100 an hour.
Even if 200/hr was the norm…that would be a HUGE grind, beyond the legendary grind.
Not 200 an hour, 2 stacks. That’s 500 an hour.
It’s still a grind, but doable. I have no intention of doing it myself. After finally seeing the wings I find them ugly as sin and would not want them for free. I am getting a little tired of the crystal blue look, it’s been done to death in this game and needs to stop.

Make it easy on everyone, do a full server rollback to the point they released the new content, patch it, then bring the servers back on line.
Than post the names of all the exploiters on the forums so everyone can rage against them for all their lost progress.
Man, I was REALLY looking forward to this event, it looked like a lot of fun, but the more I read, the more I want to just skip the whole thing. Cheaters, RNG, crazy requirements for materials, it’s one thing after the other. Do the devs actually have any real players on staff? I am beginning to doubt it.
About 2 hours in I’m at 200+ of them, event should be long enough to get them. Also you have the option to buy them.
So your getting about 100 per hour?
So what your really saying is if I play 24 hours a day for the next 41 days straight, I should be able to get enough? Or I could buy them for 1000 gold?
I am really confused, how is this not a grind of epic proportions?
I am at work so have not logged on yet, but this just makes me so depressed!
What where the devs thinking? Well weapon skins are out, I will probably never get one of them with the RNG. The special wings are out, because there is no way in H E double hockey sticks that I am going to even attempt to collect that many. The dragon helm, while interesting would probably only take up space in storage, so I guess I will have to settle for the 1 set of wings that we should all get. So now I am not even sure why I should even bother with the dragon bash? Oh well, I guess I can keep farming for enough materials to sell them all cheap and trash the economy. ;-)
You shouldn’t ban anyone for something because it was overlooked.
Sure they should! It’s the same as the snowflakes. If there is a bug and you use it for your own gain, that is exploiting the game. Exploiters are normally banned, so should these.
That was different because it effected the economy.
And this affects players who play the game as it should be played. We are forced out of dragonball because they need to exploit.
Dragonball exploiting (not really an exploit, your just allowed to use food.) does not ruin the economy, there is a huge difference.
An exploit is an exploit, the economy has nothing to do with it.
The players who used an exploit to get the drunkard title where banned. That had no effect on any other player, economy or anything else. All they did was get a title and achievement points. How is this any different then that?

I would love to see anet do what Microsoft does. Cheat with an achievement, your achievements are reset, and you can never again get those same achievements so they are lost forever.
I love the long bow, but I am just going to assume that there is next to zero chance of getting it, so I am not going to get my hopes up. :-(
Spam to me is repeatedly sending the same message in a short period of time.
Agreed.
Writing colored chat alone is not abuse.
If you don’t like it, just block it just like any other person you find annoying
I will wait to see what support says, if they say players should not be doing that it gets reported if they don’t care then the player will simply be blocked.
Is guild promotion considered as spam xD?
Cause if so, half of the players should be reported and banned…If you ask me “spam” is considered as literary spam, not dropping a message now and then.
Also – If you’re annoyed by the colored spam chat, that means you actually got an advantage – instead of starting reading the map chat and get annoyed by the spam, you can just see the colorful text and skip it. It’s a win win situation, right?
Anything, including guild recruiting messages, are spam if they are constantly repeated over a short period of time and should be reported as such.
If I see the same guild message repeated 3 times in less then 30 seconds, it gets reported, no question about it.
As to the colored text, no, it’s a lose lose situation all the way around.
I have never seen that on my server yet, but it is something that I would not like. It destroys the whole colored text system. When scrolling through chat, it’s helpful to see if it’s a whisper, a guildie, an item link, whatever. With players using the color codes, it makes that whole system obsolete. I would say either make it so only item links will color code, or remove the ability of players to type in a color coded messages at all. That might actually be the best choice, then you could tell if it was an actual link from an item the player had, or lust a typed in link.
It’s against the TOS to transfer accounts. Support is not going to help you with that.
Your friend can attempt to regain access to the accounts himself, but if he has already told them he gave them away, well that’s not good to say the least.
Have your friend post his support ticket # in the following thread.

You can find pictures of most if not all here.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
I had all my friends and my entire guild leave except for 1, and they have not been on since before the first of the year. I was ready to leave myself, then I did what was needed to make the game fun again, I found some new friends and a new guild.
I have been much happier in game ever since.
Each and every one of these accounts was involved in the use of a third-party program to cheat. It has been our policy since the day we released — in fact, since the first beta — to terminate accounts involved in cheating. If you honestly feel that you were not involved in cheating, you are welcome to submit a ticket to discuss the matter with the Support Team.

I just love Gaile!
When you really need help, she is always there and very friendly, but when you try to pull a fast one, she pulls no punches and lets you have it.
I actually forgot my support account that i used to have and use a new one back on wednesday afternoon. But i was able to remember my old support account that is link to my game account yesterday. So im checking the email from the new support account that created and theres no response to that one as well =(
130605-002?204 that is the 1st ticket i created regarding my account.
Do not create multiple tickets, it will actually slow down your getting any response.
You should close out the additional ticket, wait 3 days from the date you opened the original ticket. If after 3 days you have not heard back, then you post in the 3 days or older thread to have it looked at.
Hello! I’m new to this game. I have been wondering this one thing. How do I know if somebody is a good player or really committed? Everyone looks the same and you can’t inspect players, or see any stats or achievements or anything anywhere? Am I wrong or is this the case? So how do I know if somebody (or some guild) is really good in PvP or PvE?
Other then the leaderboards, you can’t.
Titles can simply be more time to play, legendary weapons/armor can be purchased from the TP.
I have that exact same error…however mine usually doesn’t even let me connect to the game, or if I do, I can play for about 5 minutes before it just gives me that error and then I get a black screen.
I have a friend I play with who has the same issue, exactly 1 hour on the dot, he gets disconnected. After some testing, we determined it was something with his ISP. They where disconnecting him every hour. He did not notice it while doing most things like web browsing, watching videos, etc, only when playing games and using chat.
The TOS you agreed to was your warning, no other warnings are given for any violations. 72 hour is for first offense, it gets longer for each offense and can increase if the offense is deemed to be overly offensive.
The policies are in place so all players may enjoy a pleasant playing experience without have to endure “potty mouthed” players who are unable to control themselves out in public. All that can be said is if you do not want a suspension, do not swear in chat where others who may be offended will have to see it, and before you say it, no, the filter is not a license for you to swear.
I really think they need to make sticky threads for this and the other flavors of the minute so posters stop making new threads about old subjects every few days.
DPS meter -Check
Mounts -Check
Open World PvP -Check
/Inspect -Check
Housing -Check
Guild Halls -Check
These are all subjects that keep getting reposted over and over again which just leads to more threads being merged, which means more threads being created.
Now my opinion.
DPS meter -No, not needed/worthless/Will cause issues
Mounts -No, not needed/worthless/Will cause issues
Open World PvP -No, not needed/worthless/Will cause issues
/Inspect -No, not needed/worthless/Will cause issues
Housing -Don’t care
Guild Halls -Don’t care
There, that should cover everything, at least for the next day or so until the next one of these threads shows up. ;-)
I can’t see why it would ever be necessary to purchase anything from the TP. I already have this months at over 375 salvaged, and that’s with only logging on for a few hours a night to do my dailies. I find salvaging one of the easiest ones to do each month without spending any money for anything other then salvage kits.
ANet is actually, believe it or not, pretty lenient when it comes to in-game swearing in the map chat (they do not follow whispers, parties, guilds, etc. unless you are reported). You can, with some sense of responsibility and control, get away with swearing in the map chat if those swear words are not directed at someone else. If you say F You! then you are verbally attacking someone. If you are surprised and are suddenly killed by some players in WvW and say, “Oh snap!” then they likely will not suspend you for it.
That is actually not true. It does not matter if you direct it at another player or not.
All that matters is if another player reports you for it. If you type it in to map chat and someone else can read it, you can be reported. If your reported, there is a good chance you will be suspended, depending on what was said.
To my knowledge there has never been an unexplained server transfers, that is, an in-game issue that transfers someone without player prompting. Far more likely — although you may not have seen the effects yet — is that your account has been compromised and it just has not been stripped yet. I agree that checking your authorized networks is a good idea. Further, check your inventory, as sometimes a hacked account is used for holding stolen goods and you may find you ahve more than you expected.
Feel free to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They will be happy to help you.
I agree with Gaile. The other issue is if an account is compromised, they may be simply keeping it in their “stable” of accounts and have just not got around to using it yet.
I had the displeasure of speaking to a game hacker several years ago. He told me he would gain access to a dozen or so accounts and keep them in reserve, only accessing them when needed to replace an account that got banned.
I work with computer security for a living. I see “hacks” all the time of all different types.
The sad fact is, most “hacks” are nothing of the kind. They are simply social engineering.
A fake email here, a fake website login there, and your account is gone.
That being said, the people who have taken over accounts are doing something advanced. They are either employing packet sniffers, or random login generators or something to acquire passwords. I know in my case, someone in China got a hold of my login and password, but due to the email authentication, I was able to change my password before they where able to gain access. My computer was a brand new build, about as clean as you can get, with some of the best anti-malware available on it including a very sophisticated hardware firewall protecting my network. The password was unique and complex. The password was never used before for anything else, and was only for GW2. I never received any emails asking for login credentials, and if I had, I can look at a header and understand where the real point of origin is. I am the person who warns others about scams. I am the person who files reports with ISPs to get fake websites taken down. I am the person who scans headers to determine the true origin of an email. Like I said, I do this for a living and I am good at what I do or I would not have a job. In my line of business there is no room “close enough” or 90% sure. I have added all this to prove a point. The “hackers” somehow got my login and password.
They did not get it from my computer, and they did not get it from me but get it they did. How did they get it? I have no idea, but after changing my password that one time, doing nothing more to my computer or any equipment or software, they have not gotten it again.
The filter has many issues and the filter is also not a license to swear.
If you swear and are reported, you will get suspended. Swear and get reported again, you will get suspended for a longer period. Continue to violate the TOS and you will lose your account. Your choice, but if you feel you MUST swear in an online game then there are other issues involved.
While I can understand the people who don’t want mounts, and I completely agree that mounts, if implemented, should NOT have any form of movement buff or anything (no flying, no faster running, etc.), I can’t see how just having a few lore-friendly mounts would hurt the game (I mean, how is it not awesome in every possible way to have an Asura going around LA on their own personal Transport Golem?).
Anyways. Final decision is up to ANet, if they don’t want to put mounts in they shouldn’t have to, and IDC either way.
Actually mounts would have a very noticeable, detrimental effect on the game.
Culling is already an issue in the game. You can be standing in a crowded area and barely see a fraction of the other players there. Now introduce another set of models that have to be rendered and you make the problem even worse then it currently is.
The graphic engine would have to do twice the work, generating models and animations for 2 models instead of just one for each player on a mount.
Game developers can pretty much do anything they want in any game, add any feature you could possibly think of.
But the draw backs are every additional feature takes more resources in the game. You have to make a choice sometimes, do you want a game with beautiful graphics and great game play with some features, or a game with cartoonishly low level graphics with all the bells and whistles. Do you make a game that can run on most of the computers out there, or only the high end ones so limit your market? Everything added to a game has some impact on playability, some features would be hardly noticeable, some would break the game for many players.
2 Months old.
Threshold in a Central discussion forum for Necro’ing is about 3 weeks…
Try again, that was only the age of one of the original threads, not the other threads already merged in to it, just as this one now has been. Please learn to search the forums before creating a new thread to discuss something that has already been discussed many times. If you really believe you have valid points, you should add them to the already existing ones and not try to make them stand on their own.
As to mounts, no need, waste of development time. Way points are far more efficient, less server resources and much easier on our video cards. Mounts serve no useful purpose in GW2, none at all. Most players do not want them. Devs would be better off working on expansions that would benefit all rather then a feature a small handful of players need for “look at me” status. Bad idea that cause more problems that we simply do not need, etc, etc, etc.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/future-possibility-of-mounts
Already been discussed. No need for this thread as it is just another repeat of threads past.
This game has a filter.
People who are easily offended need to use it. The reporting and suspending for offensive language is quite frankly user error on the part of the offended.
Also the agreements you click on at the beginning of the game will not hold up in the court of law. They’ve been overturned repeatedly.
G’day
You could not be more wrong or misinformed.
Some are. Like now there is a Miniature Reef Rider available as random loot in Southsun Cove. It’s time limited tho, to keep it “special” or somewhat exclusive. Earlier (as I believe they are removed now) you could get a mini Karka, Karka Hatchling and Reef Drake.
I don’t really have any strong opinions on if they should drop or not in a more normal setting. In original GW as far as I remember you could only get them in your birthday gift, getting special codes from magazine or events, collectors editions and or possibly for completing special events related to in-game holidays.
I sort of like them being special. Even tho I rarely find myself using one. Maybe if I had a new box in my Hero menu, or a own bag for minies I would think more of them. All to often I forget them in some other bag then my Safe bag, and poof its gone when i “Deposit all collectibles”.
I think the OP means to have the minis collect your loot that drops from other mobs, not drop as loot themselves.
OOPS! Looks like lookitsandrea beat me to the response, but at least we both see the ops post as saying the same thing. :-)

You can also go to http://www.whatsmyip.org from both your home and school computers and see what IP shows up there. The IP shown on that page is the IP the rest of the world will see you coming from.
FYI. I work In RI.
If I do a trace on our IP, it shows we are in Kansas. Our office in CT shows up as NY.
Sometimes the ISPs do strange things when routing your connections.
I can confirm that the exploding bridge is indeed this event http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_the_Sons_of_Svanir_from_planting_bombs_on_the_bridge. During the first months after release I was randomly minding my own business on Snowden Drifts when I noticed the familiar bridge in the landscape. As I got closer I saw the New Event notice and that the Svanir were almost done with it, and since I couldn’t get there in time I just sat down and watched the bridge explode – just like in the Manifesto Trailer, only from afar and from a slightly different angle.
To truly experience the explosion, you need to be standing on the bridge when it goes up. I only wish I had taken some screenshots of the aftermath, LOL!
Sounds like a great idea, but ONLY if they include a vest with a built in Taser.
You die in game, you get tased and knocked out for a few hours.
You could then play in an internet café, and when you died in game, passers by could loot your real world body as well. The ultimate RP experience!
This is all great feedback so far and I welcome more discussion
.
Not to be a party kittener, but there is really nothing left to discuss.
There have already been several very long, very detailed discussions about raids.
I honestly believe there is nothing anyone can say either for or against that has not been said already, at least twice. (yes, the forum search is one of the worst I have ever seen, but the threads are actually there somewhere). Eventually, the mods will simply merge this thread in to one of the already existing threads, and it will also fade away in to the none searchable area they have somewhere.
If you really want raids, your better off posting in the suggestions forum. If enough people suggest it, it’s more likely to happen then being posted here as another in the very long line of soon to disappear threads.
LOL! This thread is almost as good as the other 3 about the same thing.
I have a suggestion, why don’t the devs simply make a “hard core” server?
They can put in /inspect, open world PvP, mounts, housing, and all the other things that “every MMO has”. After all, it’s so obvious that so many players just do not like this game and want it to be like “every other MMO” out there, they may as well give it to them. Of course, there should be a nice hefty fee to transfer to the new server, say something like $59.95 , and it should be a one time, one way transfer so that once the unhappy players are all there, they can simply spin it off in to a separate game, they can call it “World of Guild Wars”! ;-)Cause that server would be full very fast (by all the guys that left game)
And this is turning to be just like another MMO minus some key features. (in wow you camp bosses just like players camp events now (didn’t play wow, what i heard), mini pets really? is that what makes this game so different, so perfect, some pink cat that goes mauauuauawuwua?, is not balancing PvE what makes this so different from others?)Don’t believe everything you heard. I played WoW and even run my own WoW server, it’s several steps down from GW and there is really no comparing the 2. It’s like trying to compare Unreal Tournament to Call of Duty.
BTW, WoW also has mini pets, as do a very large number of other online games, both old and new. It’s one of the things players kept asking for because “every other MMO has them”. See how that works there? Players kept asking for them, the devs put them in, and then players complain about them. There is just no pleasing some players no matter what you do. It’s like the old song, “you can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself” and the devs are doing just that.Unreal Tournament 2004 was one of the best FPS games i played, CoD after first Modern Warfare gets boring fast, i mean FPS games don’t need some stupid achievements and leveling.
Back to the topic, i don’t care what wow has or has not, i didn’t play it, but if so called “casuals” (that probably play twice as i) say things like raiding is for 1% of wow playerbase, there is nothing to do except gear grind and so, what is 99% of wow players doing? Just cause wow has something (inspect, class balancing) doesn’t mean it’s something evil.No one said just because WoW had it that it was evil. But the players who want to bring every feature in WoW to GW don’t seem to get that they are 2 different games designed for 2 different player bases. It gets old pretty fast when every other day someone new makes a post and complains that since some other game has a feature, it needs to be in GW as well since all other games have it, it’s a standard, there are no REAL MMO games that do not have it, etc. If these “features” mean so much to them, there are plenty of games out there that they can get their fix from. There are many of us who play GW simply because it does NOT have those features that “all other MMOs have”. Why should we keep quit while the complainers attempt to turn the game we like to play, in to some twisted copy of everything else that is out there already? It boggles the mind, if these other games are so great and have such great features, why are they even here?
That is why less and less people is here, so good luck not having features that every other MMO has and still having heavy grind, magic find gear, DR on farm, stealth loot nerfs, RNG cash shop, bugged/broken dungeons, no PvE class balance and most important real balancing.
Your making assumptions as to why other players have stopped playing without having any real information to back it up.
So the question is… why didn’t you run that with your guildies/friends? o.o
They aren’t always available. Are you an idiot? you sure seems like it.
I think he asked an honest question, while you could only resort to a personal attack as an answer. You where the one bragging about how good your friends and guildmates are after all.
That question was inane. Why would someone chose to run with people they don’t know over the ones they already know ? the answer is so obvious that asking the question is offensive in itself.
This wasn’t an honest question, and if it was, that guy obviously has some issues with logic.
There was nothing wrong with the question at all, only your interpretation of it. There have been other players who have said they specifically like to play with new players they don’t know because they like meeting new people, and teaching newbies how to get through the different dungeons is “fun”. There have also been players who have said their friends no longer wanted to grind through the same areas as they did any longer and have moved on to bigger things. There could have been several reasons. Instead of calling names, you could have simply said they are not always on. Shorter more accurate answer on your part without making any assumptions about what others do or do not know about how you and your friends play.
LOL! This thread is almost as good as the other 3 about the same thing.

Isn’t it funny? Those againt /inspect are so offensive in their posts.
Well, to a great many the suggestion – adding a non-consensual inspect to the game, is an offensive change at the heart of reasons why they left other MMOs. So you should not be surprised to face such strongly voiced opposition.
They will get used to it, just like they got used to gear treadmill, guild missions for big guilds and so.
Players did not “get used to it”. They left, just like you pointed out yourself in your earlier post.
(in wow you camp bosses just like players camp events now (didn’t play wow, what i heard), mini pets really? is that what makes this game so different, so perfect, some pink cat that goes mauauuauawuwua?, is not balancing PvE what makes this so different from others?)
Don’t believe everything you heard.
It’s like the old song, “you can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself” and the devs are doing just that.

1. Yes, at your own risk.
2. Only if you actually scam someone. Being reported for anything makes no difference in this game unless you have actually done what you where reported for.
3. No.
4. Most likely. Large gold transfers have a tendency to set of the red flags.
Not challenging or fun at all.
If I had to use 1 word to describe it, it would by annoying.
What about a simple resummon when when porting? Or giving them a purpose other then just sitting there?
That’s pretty much all minis do in any game, they just sit there. They are a status symbol/collectable, nothing more. Over the years, I have seen many players make suggestions that they should follow behind picking up loot, carry extra supplies, etc, but have never played any games where they did anything else but just follow you around.
Tip: If you use an Invisible bag or box in your inventory, the items in it will not be deposited to collectibles nor will they appear in vendor sell panes.
Thank you for the tip, I honestly didn’t know that. Seems more like a player fix in which I’ll have to spend some gold on the TP to get XD but I suppose it’s better than nothing if there’s no other fix.
Invisible bags a not expensive at all. If you have the right crafting, you can even make them yourself. There are also crafting material bags, where all your gathered materials will go by default, as well as weapon bags, etc. If you get the right combination, you never have to sort your inventory as it becomes self sorting.
