With that exception, the “His Master’s Voice” dog and gramophone image is in the public domain in the USA, its United States trademark registrations having expired in 1989 (for sound recordings and phonograph cabinets), 1992 (television sets, television-radio combination sets), and 1994 (sound recording and reproducing machines, needles, and records).
It is public domain in the US , which means anyone in the US can use it freely. In the UK it is not recognised as a TM as its HMV that is the TM.
If your going to quote, quote the whole thing. Your also referancing the image, while it’s the name that is important here, but since you want to quote sources.
“The image of “His Master’s Voice” now exists in the United States as a trademark only on radios and radios combined with phonographs, a trademark owned by Technicolor subsidiary RCA Trademark Management SA"
So if the “image” is still a trademark, it still falls under the naming policy as a violation.
In the end, it is up to Anet. They useally err on the side of caution, so it’s anybodys guess what they will do.
It is also the name of the dog used in the painting “his masters voice”.
This is your answer right here. It’s a copyrighted tradmark so it violates Anets naming policy.
We do not permit names that:
•Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products. That pretty much sums it up right there. You can try to appeal as they gave you a different reason, but that above is good enough reason alone.
It is not a trademarked name, im sorry thats completely wrong. It is simply a piece of information ABOUT the painting. The trade mark is “HMV” not nipper.
TLDR; Your wrong sorry.
Don’t be sorry, because you are wrong. RCA was the original copyright holder to the name “Nipper”, the dog in the HMV painting, . The image in the painting was copyrighted as a logo. It is still in use, and is still copyrighted as is the name of the dog in the image.
FYI, don’t search the word “nipper” because you will only find the common meanings. Try searching RCA copyright nipper chipper (the younger version of the dog) or a combination of them. In the US, it’s a very well known logo/trademark and most of the older generation probobly remembers him much better then the younger players.
Here you go, found the info myself a few seconds with a single search.

Are you sure it’s copyrighted, or even a trademark? “his masters voice” is a trademark, but not the name Nipper. I think you got it all wrong here!
Yes, I am sure, the name “Nipper” is the copyrighted name of the dog in the painting, which is itself a copyrighted image/logo.
I have found that the beginning charr area is insanely easy to get most of the dailies. The DE’s go off all over the place, and some are 2 for 1 deals like the devourer eggs. There are lots of things to harvest, dead charr all over the place to rez, loads of different enemies to fight, veterens that I can solo that respawn very quickly, grawls to dodge in groups, water, etc, etc. I useally do all of them in just that one area, and end up with loads of materials, and useally 4 or 5 dyes from the fire legion charr bags.
It is also the name of the dog used in the painting “his masters voice”.

LOL!, the minute they do that and have both PvE and WvW options in dailies at the same time…
The forums will get a lot of posts very quickly. :-)
All I will say is patch by patch, the game gets worse and worse. It’s still kind of fun to play, but at this rate I have to wonder for how much longer. I really think they need some actual players to give feedback on some of the proposed changes before they make them. Maybe look through the logs for players that play daily, then invite them to a private forum and ask what they think? It can’t hurt to get some feedback from people outside your group before making sweeping changes that annoy a lot of players.
The new dailies made absolutly no differance to me at all. I still did the same ones I have been doing. I like the idea of pick and choose, but if the only ones worth doing are the same old ones we have been doing, who really cares?
I’m trying to post something that doesn’t come across wrong. If you are going to ban names of fictional beings that might offend someone, you are going to ban a lot of names.
In fact necromancers are in general mostly considered to be evil and the mere existence of the class could be offensive to some people.
I honestly have difficulty understanding the Lucifer/Satan banning. I can understand banning the name of a real person who caused pain and suffering in the world – like Hitler. But of fictional beings?
Katz, while you may think of it as a “fictional being” (and personally I agree) millions around the world do not share your opinion. But to the point, Anet’s naming policy clearly states
“We do not permit names that:
•Reference religious or historical figures.”
That’s pretty clear. The Op’s name violated the policy and there is no arguing with that. I do agree that the OP should have been given a chance to change the name himself or atleast pick his own. Names in online games are a very personnal thing to many players and should not be taken lightly by the devs.
It’s been asked, discussed, asked again, discussed again over and over and the answer is always the same.
OK, I change my mind. I am in favor of open world PvP servers, just so I don’t have to keep seeing this same subject posted over and over and over again.
Hint: There is a white box at the top of the page with a small magnifying glass on the right side.
Yes, actually a lot. I am currently leveling an Ele in Pre then will be playing through Prophecies again just for fun.
There is no reason to have a password list in plain text to compare it
Read again. To compare for similar, not identical, passwords you need it. Because this cannot be done with hashes.
And who says they are hashed? Your making assumptions again. Until you can state for a fact that you know exectly how the passwords are or are not encrypted, all you are doing is speculating. I do security for a living, just what are your credentials?
/e: Narholt.9023 actually raised a valid question. If they’re actually checking for similar passwords (as opposed to previously used ones), this isn’t possible with a proper hash, no matter how insecure. Which would mean their blacklist contains all passwords in plain text form – which means that if ANet is ever hacked, that’s probably one of the largest password dictionaries in existence, containing both known weak passwords as well as unknown and safe (until then) passwords. That would freak me out too.
There is no reason to have a password list in plain text to compare it, maybe in something like phpbb or phpnuke, but those are not secure by any stretch of the imagination.
It is actually a moot point. If the passwords are not allowed, you could freely post them to all the world to see and give them to all of the hackers. If no one is allowed to use them, who has access to them is irrelevent. Think about it, a hacker has a password, that no one is allowed to use, so it will not access any account, does it really make any differance? I deal with people complaining about changing thier passwords all the time. We force a password change every 30 days. They are given 6 warnings that thier password will expire soon, to change it. After the password expires, they are locked out and get a new password of my choosing. They will NOT like the passwords I will assign them and they know it. Do we force a password change to be nasty? No, we force a password change because we are required by law to do it. While anet may not be required to do it, it’s only good practice when you have so many accounts hacked.
@Michael
I understood the part of blocking passwords harvested from other sites. I also know what ANet is aiming for. When I said about “being hacked” I meant every website or game I’m in. I had never had any problems concerning my accounts’ security. So I can’t assume my password has been stolen. My point is how they can blacklist my slightly changed old password while they SHOULDN’T have access to my old password in readable form (just hashed). Therefore they can’t ban it’s variations.
MD5 hash code doesn’t indicate what changed when you compare two passwords. It isn’t generated linearly. Let me give you some examples.md5(“password1”) = “7c6a180b36896a0a8c02787eeafb0e4c”
md5(“password2”) = “6cb75f652a9b52798eb6cf2201057c73”You can’t say these passwords are similar. Wait! You can’t even check how long they are as hash has always 32 chars (it’s 32 bit coding). Now, I ask ANet how they managed to do the impossible assuming they really hash our passwords. If they don’t it would be.. huge affair.
Narholt, you are making a lot of assumptions, and unfortunetly, most of them are incorrect.
There are many ways to encrypt a password, MD5 is only one, and not even one of the best . It is common practice to check previously used passwords or partials of, and there is no reason to have access to the unencrypted password to do it so what encryption method used is irrelevent. It’s a very old process, almost as old as Windows itself, very common and easily implimented. It is not something I will discuss in any forum because, and please don’t take this the wrong way, you then have people like yourself who only partially understand security jumping to conclusions and creating more confusion.
When I want to do the dodge quickly, I just go agro 5 or 6 grawl (finishing slayer, so need them anyway). I was doing that the other day, just running around with the grawl circlin me, when a player came over and started attacking the group that I had laid claim to, MY GROUP! I grouped them together, they where all mine, no one else had any right to come near them! MINE, MINE MINE!. So I did the only thing I could with this evil player, I helped to kill the group off quickly, then the 2 of us took out the grawl champion in the area. Because of this player coming over where he was not wanted, instead of me running around in circles waiting for my dodge to recharge, I had to go fight a champion, finished my grawl slayer achivement, and got a lousy rare drop that I am going to have to force one of my alts to use since it’s better then anything he has. Completly ruined my day.
An official response would be very much appreciated.
It has already been answered.
Sorry, there is no means to unlink an account to free it up for linking on a second GW2 account.
It’s also been posted on the support site.
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8961
“Please note: Once you link a Guild Wars account to Guild Wars 2, you cannot unlink them. Choose wisely and type carefully!”
I would trade that walking salad Trahaern for Tybalt any day.
Would have to be the Storm Bow. I had 4 of them on my GW1 accounts. Favorite weapon in the game, next to my Urgoz Longbow that is.
It’s also common sense to think that you could choose your server every time you make a character.
It’s also common sense to think that should you delete that character you would then be able to rechoose your server.
Why would you make that assumption? Why would you just assume anything in a game you had never played before? Simply because the last game you played did it that way? And do you honestly think that’s a valid excuse?
Like someone else said, allowing toons on different servers is inviting griefing in WvW, it has already happened due to the free transfers, so this is not “it could allow griefing”, it DOES allow griefing.
Guild Wars 2 is not any other game. If you purchase any game and just jump in without even reading the online manul, then you have nothing to complain about, it’s your own fault.
I presume you’re another one that reads the complete ToS before logging in too.
Nope, your wrong again.
Never read the TOS. No need. The TOS is just common sense in all online games.
-Don’t cheat.
-Don’t be a jerk.
-If it feels wrong, don’t do it.
3 simple rules that should keep you safe in any online game.
BTW, what’s with the TOS anyway? What has that got to do with how you play the game or how transfers work?
what they should do is give one free server switch every month, or something close to that.
No. This would ruin WvW. They should however give you the option to change servers if you are new to the game.
Yes. I would think a two week grace period is enough.
Yes I think it’s only fair a player that just bought the game should be able to transfer at least once in maybe the first month.
It’s very easy to pick the wrong server, or an innactive server when you are new here.
A once or twice transfer for a new player won’t affect WvW in the slightest.
This is very shortsighted of ArenaNet not allowing to settle in and pick the best server for a new players play style.
I agree, there should be a grace period to select your server. If your just starting the game, you need to learn a bit about how it works.
And EVERY other game that gives you the EXACT same message is for that specific character, isn’t account wide, and can be recitified by deleting your character.
And let me guess… you read the ToS too?
See, there’s your problem right there.
This is not “EVERY other game”, this is Guild Wars 2. What they do in other games is irrelevent. Different games have different ways of doing things. And BTW, "EVERY other game " is incorrect. I have played many games that work the same as GW2, toons are account bound to a specific server.
To the op, actually if there is a que for WvW, that is a good sign and you want to stay on that server. If no one on your server is playing WvW, your not going to have very much fun in there yourself.
So far, they have not been too bad.
Veterans are very easy. I did them solo on my level 20 in only a few minutes.
Crafting, absolutly the easiest, but really just a waste of time.
Gathering, well I would be gathering anyway, so thats a good one.
Rez? easy. There a lots of NPCs who are almost always down if you look.
The dodging I could do without. I did 99% of what I needed to do in the Charr starting area, just like I have been doing all along. The only differance now is instead of getting the dailies from just “playing the game”, now it is a seperate chore that has to be performed taking away from “just playing the game”. Once they implement the rest of it where you can pick and choose what to do, it should be MUCH better. I really can’t believe they would even release the update without having that working. What happened to “we will release it when it’s finished, not before”?
JPs and dungeons in the dailies? Absolutly NOT! Worst idea I have heard in a long time. The dailies where meant to be something you would get just for pretty much logging in to the game. It was to encourage players to play every day. You want to turn them in to something that only some players will be able to do, and would require you to join up with a group? Yeah, a sure fire way to destroy the whole concept.
It’s not a matter of being honest.
In GW1, players did the same thing, asked for some things in game and demanded answers. The devs said absolutly not, it will never happen, no way, no how, stop asking, end of story.
A few years later, they added some of the features that they had said would never happen. You cannot predict the future, so saying something will never happen, would not be a smart thing to do.
There are lousy people in every game, everywhere. I useally never pug simply because of this. The last time I puged in any game was right here in Gw2, about a month after start. Did a dungeon with 4 players from the same guild, so I thought it should be fine.
Got to the end, and right before the boss I was told I had to pay them to remain in the party. I told them where they could stick it and warped out on my own. One reason I have never done fotm, and probobly never will.
Legendaries are already a joke. When I see someone walking around with a legendary, the first thing that comes to mind is how sad it is they spent that much real world money on a few pixels. It should not be that way.
To be fair, I wouldn’t assume they spend real world money, cause that would be $700-1400 if buying gold from a gold sellers, and $2000-$4000 if buying Gold with Gems. the amount of people to actually do that compared to the amount of people who do have a legendary is going to be very small, very small. So if anything instead of thinking they bought it with real money, just think that all they did was some boring tedious RNG grind that took no skill.
I agree, people think gold buying is cheap. It takes $$$$. For pixels? Not gonna do that.
A few days ago I was on our server’s mumble doing WvW. Some guy on mumble saw my character and instantly remarked that I was some chinese botter/gold buyer.
I can only imagine his reaction when I replied to him that I wasn’t.
I have know it’s not cheap, but I also know there are many players who do it and think nothing about the cost. The gold sellers are selling legendaries directly now, you don’t even have to buy the gold first. There are thousands of players who pay well over $200 each month on a facebook web based game. If your willing to spend that kind of money on something like that…..
I know for a fact there are people doing this kind of thing, and some of it really gets me upset. I spent nearly 7 years in GW1 maxing out all the titles, filling my HOM, etc, then I see some clown who never played GW1 a single day, purchase an account for $1200.00, link it to his GW2 account and start showing off his HOM rewards.
I am sure the players who legitimitly got thier legendaries feel the same way, and I do feel for them.
Legendaries are already a joke. When I see someone walking around with a legendary, the first thing that comes to mind is how sad it is they spent that much real world money on a few pixels. It should not be that way.
In GW1, the prestige item was the FOW armor. Up until the last few years, any time I saw someone walking around in that armor, I was impressed. Some of it was down right ugly, but it took an effort to get. Sure, you could buy the materials, but you still had to do the quests, and at the beginning, the quests where HARD! Eventually the game was dumbed down, so anyone could get them which was kind of sad.
The legendary weapons in GW2 are not impressive at all. Once they appeared on the TP they where done for. Actually, even before that, most of it was how much money you had, and not how much skill or dedication. What they should have done, is something similier to what they did for the ascension quests in GW1, where you had to fight your doppleganger, who had the exect same skills and weapons as you did.
Another idea would be abn instance where you have to fight yourway to a legendary weapon maker to craft it. Make it an instance, and solo. Prove you have what it takes to use it before you are able to craft it. Something that you have to actually work at!
As to JPs? Absolutly NOT! Gates may never have heard of lag issues, but that does not mean thay are not there, as well as camera issues, and several other problems. Getting a legendary should not be tied in to your computer hardware. The rest of the suggestions, if added on to the current system, would be better but you can’t go changing it now. Could you just hear all the players screaming that it’s no fair because the people who already have them got them “easier”?
Like I said, weapons are already ruined and offer no wow factor at all since thay are now on the TP. All we can hope for is that when the armor comes out, they do something to make it an actual achivement to get it. Something to work for months to get, and not obtainable in a few days or weeks. No offense to Vol, but he is a perfect example of whats wrong with them. The game has only been out a few months, and he is already working on his 3rd? It should have taken a truly dedicated player atleast 6 months to get his first, now that would have made them impressive and truly worthy of the name “legendary”.
(edited by ShiningSquirrel.3751)
The game can look dead very easily. Last night in Lions Arch at prime time, it looked completly empty. I could not see 1 single other player in the entire map, not one. The chat on the other hand, was very active. If I came within a few feet of another player, they actually appeard! I don’t know if it’s my graphic settings, or a bug in the game itself, but other players do not show for me unless I am right on top of them, and even then, it seems to take a few seconds for them to slowly fade in to view. If I was away for awhile, logged back in and saw that? I would assume the game was dead as well.
I have been with you from the first I bought two accounts to get more character slots before you even added the option to just buy character slots.
Extra character slots have been available in the gem store since BWE2. So you wasted money buying 2 accounts when you could have purchased extra slots this whole time.
Everything else you said is just laughable.
Perfect World, as a company, plays the RNG bigger than any other gaming company. You even mentioning their game is ridiculous. Comparing a 7 year old crappy f2p game that is supported by a company that will, quite literally, eat your wallet and soul to guild wars is just so sad.
I believe she was talking about GW1, where many of us purchased multiple accounts as there was no option to purchase slots and there was no gem store. The rest of your reply is rude and not worth commenting on.
why so much hate for the Jps they are fun and easy
That’s your opinion, but not everyones. I find the jps annoying and not fun in the least, and avoid doing them like the plague. As to having them in the monthly, I never bother with the monthlys anyway as the requirements useally include something I am not interested in and the rewards are simply not worth the effort.
It’s a monthly ‘achievement’ meaning you are supposed to achieve something that differs from month to month.
Not monthly welfare…
No, and no.
Nowhere does it say the monthly achivements are different from month to month. They actually end up repeating the requirements more often then not.

Hello,
I was banned a day ago (4 hours from now) for “inappropriate language” when I believe I never directly attacked anyone specifically (72 hour ban total)
I am one of the many commanders in world vs world for stormbluff isle and the only thing I can think of that got me banned was “motivational cursing” while leading the charge into battle, you know I never thought I’d actually get banned for motivating people, sorry if that’s a crime, our server saw a severe decline in world vs world and my motivation worked a lot, we ended up wiping the enemy a ton of times because of it, I just find this plain right outrageous that I would be banned for something like that in all seriousness.
I contacted customer support and all I got back was an auto-response…as expected, no help whatsoever so now im trying my luck here I suppose, please respond.
There is no such thing as “motivational cursing”, cursing is cursiong and will get you suspended if another player reports it.
Yeah, but they make magicial snow, so it’s OK. ;-)
Annoying disconnects due to by login attempts

They can’t attempt to login if you convince customer support to change your email, and you change your password. Changing password can be done without customer support usually, by utilizing this website. You still got your serial code and stuff? Customer support will ask you for information upon request to change email.
Yes, if nothing else change your password ASAP! If you are getting disconnected due to other logins, it may mean they have your password already.
I would like to see reference of this statement, as I have heard of a number of instances where suspensions have been issued within 5mins of an incident occurring.
A number of people on Jade Quarry have been having issues and I know of one individual who was banned quickly for giving an guild mate back his 40g. This leads me to believe that they may use a flagging system that other MMOs have used for big shifts of money. Even though to some people 40g is peanuts.
I have to take that back, from looking back through Gaile’s posts, appearently they are using some automated scripts for bots and gold sellers.
According to Anet, they do not use any automated banning, it is all done manually by support.
I useally summon Hounds of Balthazar, drop a meteor shower, then throw a lava font down on the present THEN open it. As soon as the toys spawn, they are already taking damage. I very rarely have any problem taking them all down myself, regardless of what they are.
Any sort of traps, bombs, or other skills that you can cast before unwrapping help. But it’s relatively easy to unwrap, grab your gift, and escape. I don’t find them OP’d, but they can be tedious in the L1-15 zones.
I actually like fighting them, have actually gotten some decent drops, and even got my scrit slayer achivement.
If you go to the HOM calculator at http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome, does it show your information correctly? And just to check, do you own the eye of the north expansion?
Way points are fine. You still have to actually walk to the waypoint in the first place in order to use it. The system in GW2 is actually an improvement over GW1. In GW1, you could be in a party and if 1 member went through a gate, it would bring everyone through. Players could get from one side of the world to another without ever actually traveling through the areas between. I like the way points much better.

I’ve never ever understood why have a chat filter then punish people for swearing. I’d understand if we were avoiding the filter by saying things like H 3 1 1, but if someone purposely disables their filter, they shouldn’t be allowed to carebear and tell on you. .
The chat filter is not there to give players a free license to swear. A player may disable the filter because they are chatting privetly with friends or guild mates who swear at each other in fun (example, what a farking idiot that guy was, etc.). If you want to swear, you can swear all you want in private chat. If you swear in the main or map channel, your fair game to any other player who has to listen to it. They do not take action for language unless it is reported, so rule of thumb, don’t use the language where others have to hear it. It’s like real life, would you stand in the middle of the street spouting off obceneties and tell others if they don’t like it don’t listen? I have stood in Lions Arch and heard some of the worst, most foul language you can imagine from players who in real life would get a punch in the mouth but because they are hidden by the internet think they can say anything thay want. There has to be some kind of controls, or it would get out of hand so fast it would make your head spin.
Bottom line, it’s Anets game. They set the rules. You can ask/suggest they change the rules but if they don’t want to change them, you have only 2 chioces.
1. Play the game and abide by the rules.
2. Leave the game and go play something else.

why is the first punishment given a 72 hour ban? does anyone else see this as overly excessive? why not start with a verbal warning (despite it being in the eula, the eula is vague and broad as shown in this thread already) or a 24 hour ban then moving up. players who are banned are not told what they are banned for.. just the standard, language or gold selling or toon name… but NO further details. how can we correct behavior if we don;t know what it was we got in trouble for to start with
They have already stated that warnings have proven to be nothing but resource wasters as the players then want to argue about the warning. I do agree that 72 hours for a first offense does seem a bit excessive, especially for a name violation.

You obviously didn’t read that some people got suspended for a simple ‘no’ or ‘yes’ which has nothing to do with Anet’s policy being strict or fair. It’s just silly.
I did not read that anywhere, and would not believe it for a minute even if I did. For one thing, you are not told what it was you said that got you the suspension, so anyone saying it was because they said yes or no is either taking a wild guess or “making it up”. For another reason, do you REALLY expect anyone to believe that a support tech would suspend an account for typing either yes or no in to the chat filter?
In your own words, “it’s just silly”.Go dig up reddit. There was a player who was wrongfully banned because he quoted the offensive phrase and said ‘reported’. You would think that every report is ‘heavily reviewed and considered by more than one person. Yeah right. When they made a mistake ’oops, sorry my bad’. Yeah right.
Reddit? seriously?
As far as using that site to gauage support in any game, you would be better off asking some stranger on the street. People on the internet lie. When they are upset with a company because they did something wrong and got caught, they lie even more.
A post by some nameless person on a website is not proof of anything other then the person making the post knows how to use a computer. As to your example, a player quoated a phrase he was reporting? so he KNEW it was offensive, and he reposted it AGAIN? Rightful ban! He should have known better. Reposting the phrase and then saying reported was stupid beyond belief. Why would anyone even do that? What purpose does it serve? Even posting the word reported is just trying to get start something with the person reported. You report them, then move on. Simple as that.
i we had a trading option like EVERY SINGLE GAME EVER, we wouldn’t have this kind of problems so blame anet.
GW1 had a trading option just like every other game out there, and still had these kinds of problems. The TP protects you from scammers and it does it very well.
The fee not only acts as a money sink, it also discourages players from asking more then an items worth. How can you get scammed with a trading system!? are like afk when trading with someone? I played gw1 for five years, sold/bought bizillion crap in spamadan and NEVER got scammed… How can you get scammed in gw1 i don’t really know lmao
It happened all the time, there where atleast a dozen or so different scams used throurg the years. 1 I remember was selling selling globs of frozen ecros as ectos. There where several others with items that used the same icon. There was also the “close the trade window and switch item or money” scam. Selling duplicates (which effected a lot of other games as well). Drop the item so I can see what it looks like. Then there was the consumable scams which where pretty easy to pull off.
Most where mainly due to either the buyer not knowing what it was they where really buying, or being unfamilier with the trade window. The point is, it did happen. If you use the TP, there is a 0% chance of you getting ripped off. Players are going to rip you off, they are going to rob your guild stash. Anet put controls and tools in to the game to protect the players, but they will not protect you if you don’t use them.

No one is ever banned/suspended for “no reason at all”. There is ALWAYS a reason.
The reason could be correct, a mistake, or otherwise, but there is always a reason.
Now name calling shows why you got banned as that is not the way to have a discussion. If you do that in game, it’s no wonder you where banned. You claim players where banned for typing yes or no, can you prove that? How would a player know what they typed that led to the ban if support does not tell them? Are these players able to access information from support that the rest of us are unable to see? Did support give them information that they give no one else? How do they know that typing yes or no in chat led to a ban? It’s very easy to say you where banned for saying yes, but they MUST have some proof of that if they are able to claim it.
Saying someone’s mind on something is silly isn’t name calling. If they posted that they got banned for a reply (the only thing they said during the entire conversation that was going on) which was yes or no, then I believe it yes. I wonder though why you refuse to believe it, can you proof that it’s not that reason that got them banned? On what ground are you saying that, my proof is their comment, where is yours? Also I believe Anet is working with an automated program that when receiving a report from someone, it looks up the entire chat log, and suspends the account if there was 1 bad word in that chat log, even if it wasn’t coming from the reported person, but only he got reported , therefore.
We seem to not agree on this, so we might aswell keep it to ourselves and hope for a positive outcome in the future.
Youi did not say silly, you called me ignorent. That is slander, rude, and uncalled for. THAT is why you most likely got your account banned and believe you did nothing wrong if you are unable to tell the differance between being civil and being rude.
Anet has stated many time they do not do automated banning. So either they are out right lying to the entire player base, or you are mistaken. I “believe” you are mistaken.
Again, how do these players know what was said that they got banned for? How do they know what conversation? A ban can happen hours or days after the event that gets you banned. Did anet tell them something that no one else seems to know? You have dodged answering this question several times, is it that you have no answer or something else? Some players seem to be under the misconception that when they are banned/suspended, it was for what they where doing “at that moment” when that is not the case at all. I have seen it many times, “all I was doing was playing with my friends in the dungeon and I got suspended, I was not even in chat”. No, they where not in chat, but they WHERE in chat 3 days earlier when they called someone a nasty name. Do you see how that works?
I am an officer of Clan Acciaio which currently has 300 players in GW2 we make sure that whoever comes first in our guild does not use bots or similar so our guild member Lefty.5478 to which the account has been banned Clan Acciaio garantise that our guild member does not and never did use bots or similar programs.
Having friends/guild members etc posting on his behalf does no good at all and is simply a waste of time.
He needs to open a ticket with support. If he does not hear back in 3 days, he then needs to post in the sticky thread created by Gaile, “Tickets for Review (3 days and older) [merged]”. That is pretty much the only thing that can be done.
He is in Lions Arch, near where the statue is being rebuilt in the center of town.
You will see a candy on your map showing the location. Talk to the NPCs at that location.
Certainly something should be done to the player if it can be proven he/she scammed. Just like in real life, it’s not good to have people running around trying to scam others, so having violations for doing such only helps the community as a whole.
Not that refunds should be given out by ANet, the OP certainly made a mistake and shouldn’t be refunded. But it’s still not okay to allow people to willingly attempt to scam.
I wholeheartedly agree!
I also agree, and it has been said that scamming another player is cause for an action on the account of the scammer. Anet will not refund money or items, but they will take action on a players account who are activly scamming other players. That action could be up to and including banning the scammers account. Every time a report is made and action is taken, you can be sure a mark is placed on the account. Too many marks, and it’s Bye Bye!
