Tip: If you use an Invisible bag or box in your inventory, the items in it will not be deposited to collectibles nor will they appear in vendor sell panes.

Yes, I totally agree. There are many different types of boxes and bags with different options and so few players seem to notice they even exist.

Sounds like a combination of things are going on, the content in the zones isn’t compelling enough to keep players spread throughout the world, so they’re doing the more rewarding or newest content.

Also it sounds like server populations have decreased, since 6-7 months ago.

So your surprised that most players are doing the newest more rewarding content, that is only going to be available for a very short time? I fail to see how this could be a surprise to anyone? The same happens in almost every game I have ever played. Limited time content or “special events” always draw the most players, it’s only natural.

Also, due to the way culling works, most times, you are not going to see other players unless you are standing almost right on top of them.

I am not sure what you hope to accomplish with this post? You have no user name, no ticket numbers, nothing to identify the person having the issue.

Your friend should click on the support link at the top of the forums. In the middle of the page, “Ask a question” and open a support ticket. Support accounts are separate from forum accounts, so if he does not already have a support account he can create one on that same page. These situations are usually handled quickly by support, but if he has not heard from support in 3 days, you can post the ticket number in the sticky thread located here:

No one hijacked the email address. You can make the return address read anything you want.
Never trust just a return email as even most home users have the capability of changing it or “spoofing” it to any return address from any one, any where.

Basic rule of thumb. No legitimate company worth dealing with would ever send out an email asking you to confirm an account by clicking on a link. The only time you should ever see anything like that from any where, is if you open an account and they ask you to confirm your email before activating it.

ShiningSquirrel.3751

As I proposed in a different thread, it doesnt need to be the script and I would like to make it broader.

A script is marking your account with a suspicious flag. A GM is reviewing those flags and hits the ban button. There is no autmatic banning. So maybe just give the GM’s better training in recognising false flags??

I cannot find the post, but I am pretty sure I remember Gaile saying the botting scripts actually where automatically banning and only the player reports where reviewed by a GM. I remember this because I had been telling players there was no automatic banning, and I was corrected on that.

You can’t take screenshots in first-person view unless you back your character into an object, and even then you’re often stuck with a shaded view of your character on your screen. It used to be possible to take first-person screenshots during one of the betas, but for some reason they disabled that ability.

It really does not matter. You can’t expect any game developers to say “you can use this third party app for this, but not for that.” It’s just not going to happen.
Every time a player was banned for using an app, they would just say, “I did not use it for X, I only used it for Y”.
An official response was asked for, Gaile pretty much answered it several times.
It provides an unfair advantage, exactly what features you use it for are irrelevant.
Use at your own risk, if your banned, you where warned.

Neved used it in WvW.

Screenshots are built in to the game with a single key press, why would you need a third party app for that?
And as has been said, what you use it for is irrelevant really, it can be used to grant an advantage. That is all that matters.

Now people can stop QQing about them breaking state laws or whatever, because by that logic lucky dips should be illegal for children.

Next thread pls.

It’s good to know you know the laws of all the sates, could you tell me when you got your law degree and from what university? ;-)

Here in Rhode Island, we cannot even enter the art contests, you know the ones where they ask you to submit a drawing of a new weapon, etc and then they give you something in game as a prize, like a mini? No money changes hands and no tangible goods, but we are still not allowed to do it. Anet even has to put it in the rules for their contests “open to residents of all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii, EXECPT Rhode Island.”. Yeah, it’s stupid beyond measure, but it is still a state law where I live, but you knew that already, didn’t you?

I did see Gaile Gray. As far as I am concerned, Gail and the frog are the 2 most famous GW players (just Gail now in GW2), the rest are just names that show up on screen.

And I’ve never heard of Gaile Gray, or a frog. Also, I take it that you’ve never heard or used the dulfy-website and also you don’t read the class-subforums for Ele, Necro or Mesmer.

I rarely use external websites, so no, I have never used that “dulfy” site, never heard of it, no idea what it is and not really interested. Besides, there have been MANY other websites for games, you don’t call someone who runs a website famous, LOL!

Sub forums are just other players posting, why would anyone there be famous? The concept of a famous player in an MMO is pretty ludicrous and REALLY stretching it.

If you don’t know who Gaile Gray and the frog are, then your not a true Guild Wars player and you obviously don’t read these forums very well yourself. (Hint) 2 of the most visible Anet employees in the original game, still around right here in this very forum posting and “helping” players almost every day.

Macondo, from reading through the responses you received from support when you originally merged the accounts, there seems to be something wrong with the timing.

When support said they would reissue “latest access key you have used to create an account” and reissued your prophecies & factions keys, that means the nightfall account was created BEFORE your prophecies & factions accounts. The nightfall account was the “old” account, and the prophecies & factions where the “new” accounts. That is why you are having all these issues. Basically, you took your legitimate accounts, canceled them, and added your keys to your friends account. If your friend said he purchased that nightfall account as a gift, either he was not telling you the truth and had purchased it long ago and decided not to play, or he purchased it “used”. Either way, there is just to much here that does not make any sense.

I like Arenanet’s quick patches. Coming from Nexon games myself, Nexon would always put out a notice for a 1-5 hour maintenence and close down their game. Then after 5 hours, the game still wouldn’t start. 10 minutes after the maintenence was supposed to end, Nexon would put up a new announcement saying the maintenence has been extended for 1 hour. Then an hour later, they would extend it for another hour, and another, and another, and another. The longest time they’ve ever stringed us along like that was 48 hours. They had posted some 30 announcements saying “1 more hour.” It was terrible. I’ll take Anet any day over Nexon.

You do realize that Nexon is the largest shareholder of NCsoft right? They even forced Anet to hire Ex-Nexon employees.

An assertion like this demands evidence.

It’s pretty much common knowledge, but if you want “proof”.

If you used a fake name on your GW1 account, and it was “gifted” to you, that is probably the issue right there. I would bet that they are marking the nightfall game as the one with the issues, which would take down the entire account. Your only possible hope would be to prove that you are actually both people, your “real” name, and the fake name you used. The main issue is the fake name. You did violate the user agreement by using a fake name, so if they stick to the rules, your out of luck.

“(g) Registration Obligations. You agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service’s registration form (”Registration Data") and maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or NC Interactive has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, NC Interactive has the right to suspend or terminate your Account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service. "

So if you registered using a fake name, that’s the problem right there. Your going to have to wait for Gail to return from vacation, but IMHO, it does not look good for you getting that account back.

Employee Gaming With Customers Restrictions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

Does Arenanet have any restrictions on employees playing on the same worlds/servers as customers?

How does Arenanet insure employees do not provide unfair in game benefits to some customers for profit or simply out of favoritism?

The devs have always played on the servers just like the rest of us. I have played with several myself. They have said many times that there is not much they can do in game, either replacing items, giving players items, spawning mobs, etc. Pretty much, the only “advantage” or ability an employee has in game over any other player is the little logo that floats over their head.

My e-mail is visible to scammers?

ShiningSquirrel.3751

I have played GW2 since the betas, and am starting to get real-life e-mails from people on my game address. (Not labeled as coming from ArenaNet or anything like that). Guild Wars 2 is the ONLY place I use that e-mail address. It was created SPECIFICALLY for use with GW2.

The latest mail (based on the sender address and subject – I didn’t open it) is from a furniture dealer in Kiev, Ukraine. I live in Ohio, USA.

The point is not that I am getting junk mail. The point is that I am getting junk mail that can be pinpointed to YOU guys. I do not get these on my 3 other accounts set up under my service provider. Just with the address used ONLY for GW2.

You guys are either giving our addresses away, or you’ve been hacked. Did I miss that part of the Terms of Service? Do you reserve the right to give out our contact info?

Your jumping to conclusions not based in fact. I have been working in computer security for nearly 20 years now, and a major part of that is fighting spammers..
They get your email addresses in may ways, including sending to literally hundreds of millions of email addresses that do not even exist. I have seen spam come in to email addresses that where created only hours before, that had not even been used yet. I have seen users click on a link/attachment in an email and have their whole address book uploaded, including all of their own email address as well. You also have to look at it logically. Companies do sell email addresses, it happens all the time, but an email address alone is almost worthless without information to go with it, like geographic location, hobbies, etc. If anet where going to sell your address, you would be getting spam from companies that you would actually purchase from. Anet has your IP, so they know your location from just that alone so why would a furniture company from Kiev want to send you spam, unless hey had no idea where you where located and where just sending blindly to a blank list?

What is the purpose of the multiboxing rule?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ShiningSquirrel.3751

At this link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first#post1532762

There is reference to this in the Multi-boxing section:

you may not program your keyboard to perform functions on more than one account at a time.
a. For example, if you press W on your keyboard to move forward, a single character on a single account should move forward. The keystroke or mouse click should not perform functions on more than one account.

So the question is, why does this rule for Guild Wars 2 which doesn’t exist in any other Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) is here?

The rule exists for many other games, they just call it something different, “botting”, “third part software”, etc.
All Gail did with the post is to spell it out in plain English so players would stop asking and have something to reference. In a nutshell, anet simply said “multi-boxing is cheating when used one way, but not the other”.

Currently I have 13 gold, that’s it.
Technically , I have been getting what I need by playing the game.
I leveled my main to 80, had just enough gold and karma to get him fully decked out in exotic gear, but it took nearly every thing I had saved. Leveled alt 1 and the same thing, got his gear and was broke again. Alt 2, same thing again only this time I had a whole 13 gold left. So to put it in RL terms, right now I am living paycheck to paycheck, spending just about what I have coming in. This means I can survive, by “just playing game” but I can not afford any luxuries.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Email-from-ArenaNet-Please-read/first

Receiving those emails does not mean anyone has connected your email address to your GW2 account. I have multiple friends who have never played either game and receive the same emails, and even my 75 year old mother who does not even know what GW is has received them. I have received similar emails for WoW for years, and I have never had an account.

It’s a common scam method, you send out emails to every address you can get a hold of and see what results you get. The chances are if you send out enough, some of them are likely to get results. The spammers have been doing it for decades.

I have a suggestion for the players, it’s not something I can really do since I do not really play WvW, but others may be able to organize it.
Does anyone think that players from opposing servers could actually work together? Maybe have a commander from a server escort opposing players who simply want to get a way point or vista to that spot so they can complete it?
Yeah, I know it’s a stretch and there would always be the players who would take advantage of it, but it could not hurt to try?

I would say just put a buff icon on the person indicating how much MF they have when you are in a party with them, and be done with the whole thing.

That doesn’t really fix anything though, it just invites more bullying and elitism.

No matter what you do, there is always going to be elitism. If it’s not MF, it would be something else.
Your armor is dyed red, that agros more mobs.
Your name is to long/difficult to pronounce to it hinders team play.
Your toon is too large/small so it hinders the other players.
Etc, etc, etc.
If there is something to use to exclude a section of the player base, some one will find it and if it does not exist, they will make one up.

That is not true. Please do not post false information like that. There are enough problems with players getting suspended and getting upset over it without feeding the fire.

Lets quote Gaile Gray bout the matter:

We’ve been supporting Guild Wars for 8 years now. And many of our devs were involved in games for years and years before that. We’ve found that warnings are ineffective. That taking the time to send emails earns us arguments back and continued discussion for a subject that needs no discussion.
The 3-day suspension IS your warning. There is no lasting effect on your account, but this system has proved to be very effective, and our game world is regarded as a far more pleasant place to be than most game worlds, in part because we don’t fiddle-faddle around with offensive names and chat.

I have been using the name “Moobs” on gw for most (6 of of my characters and because some people who disliked my guild and reported me for no reason, yesterday I was prompted to change all of the character names.
Characters were these: Mr Moobs, Andromooba, Xr Moobs, Moobs the Viscous, Hundred Moobs
If someone would have actually been offended I might accept this forced name change. However since in 6 months and literally not a single sole I’ve run with (I’m a commander and popular person in WvW) has ever been upset with name, I don’t think this is fair at all. Since I reported this as a Ticket and to no surprise, the reply was that they stuck by the decision (as always, I do read these forums). So I’m here ro ask you and hopefully gf a response by ANet, is there really anything offensive with this name? Keep in mind with what I said, NO ONE was EVER upset with this name.

While I do not find it offensive at all, it is a slang word for male breasts, so “technically” I guess it could violate the naming policy.

So far, I have not seen anyone who was suspended for language who was not guilty and usually the ones who complain the most are the ones who really crossed the line the most as well.
You typed something in to chat, it could have been a few days ago, or a week ago that another player/players reported you for. A support tech with Anet then looked through the logs and verified what was typed in to chat in game, not on some third part website. They decided what you typed deserves a time out. You where suspended for 3 days, which should either be over or nearly so this thread is now pointless. In the future, no matter what someone else does or says, remember that you are responsible for what you type.

No where did the op say anything about wanting to get a legendary. The people complaining “why should you get a legendary if you don’t WvW?” need to get a clue. Even if world completion where instantly given to every player in the game, they would not be able to get a legendary without also getting the badges of honor. How do you get those, by playing WvW. The attitude in this thread is exactly why I will not play any PvP content unless absolutely necessary. PvP brings out the worst in online gamers.

/cough Jumping Puzzle /cough

I’m a hardcore WvWer with a legendary and 2 sets (and contemplating working on a 3rd) which i transmuted into dungeon looks, because there’s no way in hell I’m running around in that fugly WvW gear.
I seriously dislike doing the PvE in this game at this point, but I sucked it up because I wanted a certain thing, and even if that meant I had to run TA or Arah 20 more times with some random people….. I wanted it, so I was going to get it. Simple as that.

Have your friends tried applying that to WvW?

You mean the jp located in WvW? Last time I looked, that was in WvW and still a PvP zone so I am not sure what you are trying to say.
Not sure who you are replying to, but none of my friends are having any problems with it. Most of us got our titles long ago. I did WvW long enough to get completion, now I only bother with it if some guildies want to hop in to waste some time. This does not effect me at all. I already have the title, have no interest in a legendary and have no use for medals of honor so I really have no reason to do WvW but I can still see the ops point of view and from the Devs response, it appears anet can as well.

This is not an account issue, you should create a thread in Tech Support as you are more likely to get a response there.

Maybe this will help the devs?
Windows 7 Ultimate 32x, IE 10.
If I turn on compatibility view, the screen is exactly as others have posted.
Also, if I use the developers tools in IE 10 and change the browser and document modes, it looks fine in 8, 9, and 10, but also looks corrupted as others have posted under 7. I have also looked at the source code of the page while it was showing as normal, and corrupted, and the source was absolutely identical. If I had to guess, I would say it’s a problem loading the .CSS files.

Why Map Completion should not include WvW

It’s been discussed many time already. Most players agree with you, another thread here is not going to make any difference. Try making a thread in the suggestions forum. It will not do any good really, but at least the devs will not be able to say no one has ever brought it up before.

What's with the unlisted Nerf?

Its not a nerf but a bug

Nah, you have to use Apple speak, it’s not a bug, it’s a “feature”.

The point of dailies/monthlies was to give you a reward for things you would most likely be doing anyway in game. Running dungeons, WvW, roaming zones to pick off dynamic events, all these pretty much give you an easy 3 categories for your daily. Bring a pick and an axe, zoinks, there is number 4.

If you aren’t doing any of this…, why are you playing? Just socializing in LA? Why would you need the rewards for that?

See, that’s the point, they where supposed to be for doing what you would normally do, but for many it does not work like that any longer. when dailies where introduced, that is how they worked. If you just played the game, you would eventually get your dailies no matter where you played or how you played. It is no longer that way. I can’t count the number of times I have had to stop playing with friends because they had to do their dailies. Want to do all the renown hearts in the charr area then do the dungeon? better hope the dailies do not require you to go to the asura or norn areas or your out of luck, “sorry but you can’t just play the game and get your dailies today”.
Like I said in another post, I play every day. I do some fractals, some dungeons, and have only gotten 2 monthlies since beta. I have to stop what I am doing and check dailies before signing off to make sure I have them all, because many times I do not. Sure, it’s easy enough to finish them off. Do some crafting of useless items that no one wants and no one needs, so I just toss them to the merchant. Waste of time. Spend karma on items I have no use for while trying to save for items I do need, kind of counter productive. Visit the laural vendor? really? Easiest one, but just stupid beyond belief and such a waste of time. Ascolinian killer, magumma killer, shiverpeaks killer, these are all badly done. They force a player to visit a specific area to get them. You are not going to get the dailies just playing the game if you don’t play in that area. And then add in the personal story one? Guess you have to keep an alt artound just in case you need to do that one to get your 5/5. Yes, I know you can pick and choose any 5, but it’s very rare that I see 5 that I can get while just playing the game like I normally do. Doing dungeons, fotm, hearts, DE, killing anything that moves, I guess these are not normal for most players as I never get the dailies or monthlies any more from just doing these.
