Hey guys. To be fair, we don’t know what is coming in April. There’s no need to complain so early. I mean, based on previous experiences, it’s a pretty solid bet that you’re all right and there really won’t be much. We’ll have plenty of chances to complain then. So, you know… I’m not saying don’t complain. I’m just saying be patient.
(Seriously though, I find it hard to be hopefully optimistic anymore).
As you said it is hard to be optimistic anymore because of their track record in delivering updates.
I’m playing this game for a total of 1 month and i’m kinda bored and without new things to do… Probably my worst deal was buying out this HoT expasion. So does anyone knows when new content will be released?
You have been playing for a month and already bored. Spare a thought for the likes of me who have been here since beta.
Stat-swapping for ascended already exists…..
I think what’s meant is stat swapping out of combat, not running to the forge to change stats and running back. Crafting a stat change isn’t really the same that at all.
But how often do you stat swap your legendary? I have never heard of people stat swapping on a regular basis. You don’t hear of people having one stat for pocket raptors and once out of combat swapping stats to fight smokescales.
Most people here I would assume have a set for open world pve and instanced pve. Legendary armour will just replace one of those or allow you to try something new and I doubt everyone here is a theory crafter when it comes to builds.
One argument at least would be for lowering your crit in level 41-50 fractals, where I’d rather not crit and give the bad guys boons. Would I want to transform my armor just for that moment, or make a whole new set for 10 fractals I’ll probably never do again,. or just switch stats on everything?
I’m sure I can come up with other examples, like taking a character to PvE and then directly to WvW, nad the back to PvE on the same day. You don’t think it’s inconvenient to change stats in the forge in that circumstance?
Edit: Changing the weapon by itself doesn’t do much, but swapping armor and weapon stats does. I do have 8 legendary weapons.
I get you will want to swap for different game modes like PvE and WvW but after 3 years people here don’t have an armour set for that?
As for fractals, who on earth actually stat changes based on the instability. I have never heard of anyone doing that. You have fury, spotter, frost spirit etc. You are just picking bad examples.
I don’t play enough WvW at this time to make it worth making a seperate armor set, using six inventory slots and carrying it around or leaving it my chest. And that’s assuming I only need one set, since I WvW on muliple characters…but not that much.
So the question becomes, how many sets of armor do I need to make. I might even go into WvW more often if I had the ability to swap stats. I’d simply go with a neutral rune, since I’m not a min-maxer.
I very often play for convenience.
No one honest stat swaps on a regular basis. Your examples are hypothetical.
The reality is that stat swapping is mostly useless since you can’t swap sigils and runes without losing them. You could make 1000 exotic weapons or 20 ascended for the price of one legendary. Most players, myself included, just have multiple sets if we go into multiple game modes.
I have four legendary weapons. I’ve only stat swapped them twice. Once, when I gave my legendary shield to my mesmer when chronomancer came out. Another when I converted my pistol from sinister to viper for my engie. What do I do with my ascended weapons when the meta changes (which happens, at most, once a year)? I mystic forge them, like everyone else.
Stat swapping on legendaries is not a convenient, given the cost. The only real reason people want legendaries is prestige. Beating raids is a prestige event. I don’t see a problem.
Of course no one stat swaps regularly…it’s not in the game except in legendary weapons and just swapping your weapon is pointless.
That doesn’t mean that people won’t swap stats though.
As for most people having multiple sets of armor to do stuff…citation please? I’m not sure most people know the difference between builds or EVER change them. But this conversation has nothing to do with most people. Because I don’t believe most people carry around multiple sets of armor either. Nor do I believe that most people are min-maxers.
But in this instance, I’m talking about what I would do. Unless you know me better than I do, I’m not there’s much room for conversation here.
Have you ever been in a big guild or are you one of those casuals that doesn’t have time to get ascended armour because you play 1 hour a day?
Everyone that I have played with and know have multiple armour sets and weapons. Ascended chest drop quite often in fotm and there is no shortage of LFG for those. If you are new to the game them sure one set is most you can manage but for someone who has been here for at least 2 years you should have had chances of getting multiple sets.
I’m in a guild of well over 200 people. I’m absolutely certain more than half of them don’t have a full suit of ascended armor. Maybe a lot less than half.
This is going to sound mean but that is a typical casual guild.
Whenever Anet have said ‘this isn’t everything there is more to come’ there never is. In the AMA Colin himself said the April update was more QoL and reading this it looks that way as well. Where is the content? Oh wait….one new legendary.
Would SAB make people feel better about the scrapped legendaries or the fact the April update looks more like a QoL update rather than a content update? For me it won’t but It doesn’t mean i wouldn’t play the hell out of it.
I suppose the biggest thing I take issue with, is that his video starts by assuming that the decision was a good one, and then defends this assertion by invoking an argument from ignorance over and over again. “Oh, you can’t say it is a bad decision because you don’t know how many people are working there already”, or “You can’t say it is a bad decision because you don’t have the metrics.” and so on. Basically, his whole video is that we are in the wrong for saying that this was a bad decision, because we cannot possibly comprehend what would be a good decision in this circumstance.
Yeah, no, I don’t buy it.
Woodenpotatoes is the opposite. Instead of using what we don’t know to assert that we cannot know, he builds on the knowledge that we do have and reasons back and forth between the points. Generally, I tend favor this approach, as I have issues to surrendering to ignorance. Deep, personal, existential issues, but issues nonetheless.
The one point he does make is that I think the community is a bit too outraged over this decision. I myself am more or less just mildly annoyed, but some people are just fuming. Social media is a bit like an echo chamber, in that the negativity keeps bouncing back and forth until it builds to the point where people start throwing bricks at peoples house. This decision isn’t that bad. But it is bad.
Except we don’t really know what’s going on behind closed doors.
Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that the real reason Collin left was because he was asked to, due to his reach overextending his grasp. He promised more than he could deliver. MO takes over, seeing the disaster on it’s way, plus knowing how controversial HoT has already been, and said, “Crap, there’s no way we can deliver on all of Collin’s promises. So what’s most important here?”
I mean, honestly, we really don’t know. What we do know is at least MO had the courage to come out and admit to us what they were doing rather than, say, let it languish without comment for some time.
Now, I’ll admit, anyone who had bought HoT with the new legendaries being a major selling point, they have every right to be angry. But MO and ANET has to look at the big picture, and if they feel that this needs to be done for the long term health of the game, well, to be honest, Legendaries really only affect a very small portion of the overall population, especially in regards to playable content.
As the CEO he should have known what was going on. He should through meetings seen Colin/dev team were spread thin, otherwise what was he doing? Sitting in his office watching gem money roll in?
Everyone that I have played with and know have multiple armour sets and weapons.
That pretty much explains why you have such skewed idea about the community.
Hint: that’s not common. Not even close. You are talking here about perhaps top few percent group.Ascended chest drop quite often in fotm and there is no shortage of LFG for those. If you are new to the game them sure one set is most you can manage but for someone who has been here for at least 2 years you should have had chances of getting multiple sets.
I am here from the very beginning, with over 6000 hours of active play. I have 3 full ascended sets. Which means that most of my alts do not even have one. It will be a loooong time before any of my chars will have a second set. As far as i know, none of my guildies (who are also long-time players) have multiple armor sets on their chars either.
As i said, you have a really skewed vision of what’s normal in this game.
It might be more useful for a class like Chronomancer to adjust the amount of toughness you have between raids for tanking.
Adjusting toughness is something i’d really like to be able to do on my guardian. I have run into many situations where it would have been useful already, and i fully expect to run into those again.
I have the same amount of hours as you and I don’t have multiple sets per character either and that’s not what I’m trying to say, I am talking for just main characters. I get that wasn’t clear .
Very poor video, he total misses the points why people are upset, and he is pulling numbers out of his kitten , he even says that he doesn’t have figures.
He is supported by Anet what did you expect?
I’m less concerned with their intentions and more concerned with their penchant for selling content they don’t later deliver.
It hasn’t really happened often in this game though. This current legendary system is probably the worst example of it.
You know the wvw 2.0 overhaul has been cancelled right? ..
Actually I don’t know that even a little. That’s not what was said anywhere. They wanted to roll it out all at once and now it’ll be rolled out in stages to get parts of it into the game faster.
There was a leaked Reddit post about a potential guild alliance system that was not received well from the community and therefor scrapped the idea because after that they switched stance to releasing stages at a time. if they had a system ready to ship they would release the whole thing unless they started over in which case you would release in stages.
Mistress Sird of [Vcy] by any chance? Long time no see
Yes that is me though I have not been in VcY for over 2 years

The lore behind this glider is money.
In the end they don’t care. Most players don’t read the forums and will never know about this. They will start asking questions in 5-6 months and then realize they’ve been duped and it is too late to do anything about it. Anet just needs to keep people off the forums and keep pumping out gemstore items and then they can safely ignore us. I saw about 50 bubble gliders yesterday….
This news does not just stay on the forums. People read this and spread it in game. As for bubble glider, the people I know who have this spent in game gold where previously they would have spent real life money. They refuse to spend money on gems and now will use gold.
So what’s is the incentive to do hard mode if guilds can just shard cap on easy mode and get collections and achievements in it?
If I pay in advance its because I want to beat the rush/queue, either way I expect my product not a chance I will get it. None of the people here that are upset payed for a chance to get content that was advertised. We payed for the content that was advertised.
I fully agree with you guys that this is how stuff should be. But they aren’t not on this planet. I’m certain it’s not the first time you get screwed over. So why get your panties in a twist?
Even more, Mike or whoever, had the decency of letting us know beforehand what will happen.
Even more, we already have most of the content promised. I dare to say 90%. The Legendary stuff is just a minor part…
Even more, it is more than obvious that the ANET team is not slacking off and buying hookers with our money. They provided tons of patches and constant updates (i’ll give you that they didn’t go too well, but still)
So why all the kitten-fits?
What reality do you live in?
The only thing they have delivered on that was advertised is the new maps and new story.
We are 6 months in since the launch of HoT and let’s look at what we have.
4/16 (can’t remember the exact amount) new legendary weapons,
0/1 legendary armour,
0/1 legendary fotm back
1/1 pvp legendary back,
4 maps that are almost empty,
WvW which is empty,
Stronghold which is where?,
0 new fractals,
0 new dungeons as well as nerfing them to a point no one wants to run them,
2/3 raid wings of which wing 2 was cleared in 2 days,
New story which outside of the poison mastery gate was done in 2 days,
2 (maybe 3) new armour sets/skins
New elite spec weapon collections which are gated behind all sorts of stuff,
Am I missing something?

- Completely destruction of WvW by releasing the new maps and adding PvE contents to WvW
I am genuinely beginning to believe WvW players have no idea what “PVE” even means, and just use it to mean “thing I don’t like”.
- Fractal is at its worst state ( Swamp of the Mist)
Unless you’re one of the people who gets mad that other players are Doing Fractals Wrong, fractals are the best and most rewarding they’ve ever been (not that this says very much). It’s really, really nice to only have to do Cliffside occasionally instead of 90% of the time like I used to.
WvW players know full well what PvE means. WvW players did not ask for keep/tower lords to get AI and mechanics and they did not ask for an event in the middle of the map where you have to kill mobs to power up the cannon. Which I might add was only removed because of a problem with Guild Missions (pve).
For 3 years there was no way to acquire armour or weapons stats outside of a select few from the WvW vendor and even so for 3 years WvW players were reluctant to buy WvW armour/weapons because they could not be salvaged to get your runes/sigils back. For 3 years players had to do dungeons (pve) to get the stats they wanted and even to this day ascended armour can not be gotten through WvW. The new stats introduced in HoT well guess what, WvW players can’t get them through WvW either. Want legendary weapons well guess what….want legendary back item well guess what…
Maybe play the game mode then comment about wvw players complaining about pve.

They used the same name from the original Guild Wars game. In GW2 guilds mean nothing and GvG does not exists (WvW doesn’t count).
It’s easier to build on the original lore, environment, races etc instead of a brand new lore, world etc.
It takes a lot of discussions with players … player’s feedback
April fools is in a few days, you are to early.
Colin was game director since launch. What ever problems are going on with this game he is not only responsible for it but must have been aware of it as well. He left before this announcement had to be made and let Mo take the fall for it.
He did well with GW1 but failed big time with GW2 HoT.
I honestly don’t get why so many people pat them on the back for coming out and making such a “tough” decision, when in reality, they could have made a much better decision. A better decision for us, that is. The One they took only benefits themselves.
What better decision? The game is greatly lacking new content at the moment. New patches usually bring a lot of new features, a lot of new shinies, but little to no content. Are legendaries so important to the point that most players should be forced to replay old content over and over just so a small niche is happy?
I understand the frustration, but content should always have higher priority than 12 skins.
Legendary weapons provide months of content with the journey, living story in the past has only lasted 2/3 days.
I need to hear from the horses mouth aka Mike if this team still exist? If so why on earth are you pulling 6 people from working on this expansion and not from the 70.
I made every gift waiting for this April update to introduce new legendaries. All the t3/4/5/6 mats, all the orbs for the Amalgamated Gemstones…. All wasted. I could have cashed in big time.
Legendary weapons are content and guess what Mike, it will give us more content than your pathetic living story. It took me a day to go through Season 2, how long will your Season 3 last?
I supported you from GW1 and now you have destroyed the last bit of hope and respect I had for your company. There should be grounds for a compensation because I payed for legendary weapons and I am not getting them. I wish I could truly vent my frustration but I would get banned with the amount of expletives.
Scrap that expensive Pro League, scrap new money grabbing gem store skins and scrap the new expansion. Finish this half shipped expansion first!!!!!!!!!!
I am calling it now. The bubble glider will be the April fools joke and then available to buy after.
It would take an Elder Dragon to siege Rata Sum. I don’t see how the Mordrem with no real leader could assault a floating city.
Who is Mordremoths lieutenant? Tequatal got stronger after Zhaitans death, Claw of Jormag is still around, The Great Destroyer from GW1 was Primordias, Bubbles we don’t know much about, Shatterer with Kralk. The dragon that assaulted the Pale Tree perhaps? Or the 3 champions in DS who I would guess are dead along with Mordremoth.
Naming the Rock and wurm on alpine bl. Wilson outside south west spawn tower and Henry the wurm outside north west bay. Plus my daily blood farm from the Minotaurs.
When will you casuals understand that Legendary armour is the same as Ascended. If legendary armour have increased stats then I can understand some of what you are saying. Stop feeling like you are entitled to the gear because you have played for years but don’t have time. Find a group or guild and start working on it as raids are not temporary content.
Should I be entitled to the PvP back because I have played since launch but find the meta boring or MM stupid? Should I be entitled to the new Legendary weapons because I don’t have the time to sit around for events? Should I be entitled to the FotM back because I hate swampland? Get of your lazy kitten and work for something instead of waiting for the gear to fall in your lap.
3 years of easy content and everything available for free has made the casuals more elitist then the actual elitist.
Isn’t it time we stopped peddling the “casuals vs hardcore” meme? It’s nonsensical and divisive. And just as there’s disagreement on what constitutes a casual, there’s even disagreement on whether legendary is equivalent to ascended. Some argue that the stat swapping makes legendary better. Maybe you should tackle that argument first.
Ok I will bite.
Ascended gear can be stat swapped as well. Sure the runes get removed but if you went from berserker legendary armour with scholar runes to viper you would keep the scholar runes? Of course not so either way you would have to change runes. The only cost will be through insignias and ectos. How often do you stat change that you can’t pay that?
How many topics need to be done about raids and legendary armour lol
A lot of what you just posted Tyler are bug fixes or nerfs/moving npcs. Apart from the actual map what content or changes to the format have you provided? Oh I forgot you moved reset back to Friday again, amazing work guys keep it up!
Who cares about legendary armor? Just make is tradable like other legendaries, if it’s a debating point. Everyone will be happy.
So people would rather pay 3-4K per armour piece then actually go out and try the raid? Is this game that casual still lol.
So now your problem is that one person will have gear that is in purple text while I am still in pink text gear. Are you serious lol?
I myself don’t feel entitled to this gear, I have completed the collection and working on Provisioner tokens. If I were in a position where I could not get the gear I would not feel any different. I have multiple ascended sets that make up for the stat swapping on legendary.
I made a guild to clear wing 1 and once they moved on to other games I found another guild to clear wing 2. Stop waiting for gear to fall from the sky while you afk in LA and actually work towards it.
Legendaries are better because they come with the guarantee that they’ll always have stats equal to the highest tier of equipment.
Years ago, they said legendaries weren’t more powerful than exotics. Look where we are now.
The highest tier of gear is Legendary and Ascended. Guess what, you can stat swap ascended as well and if you are worried about the runes being removed well hate to say it to you but if you stat swap your legendary armour you will have to get new runes as well.
What does that have to do with anything I said?
You are quoted as saying Legendary come with a guarantee that they be be the best stats in game. Ascended gear also come with that guarantee.
I like how there are people who still are under the delusion that stat-swapping actually matters.
I know right. I have only ever stat swapped the armour I get from fotm ascended chests. Otherwise my berserker armour has done well for me over 3 years.

Guardian is still fun to play for me even after 3 years of playing it.
I was told once by a guild member that our fractal runs were so smooth everytime we did them that is was fun to do. One day I could not make a fractal run and they had so many problems and didn’t know why until the day after when I could make it and it dawned on them. A good guardian makes dungeons/ fractals runs smooth. So not only is it fun and good for me but fun and good for my mates. That’s all you need right?
I want the Abbadon fractal.
Others that might be interesting, Saul invading the Charr camp (same mission from gw1 bonus pack) might be a good lore recap especially with how the story in the raid is playing out.
Battle of Divinity Reach. During the asura story you fight an asura from another reality who mentions a battle or fall of Divinitys Reach.
Golem uprising in Rata Sum. In RS npcs discuss what would happen in the golems lost control.
These gimmicks need to be removed period.

I think it was 250 tokens for one weapon which is insane. You can get 12 per day if you are willing to pay a fair bit of gold (almost 1g per rare). You also have to find T4 maps to visit the vendors as they only appear once events for lanes are completed. So one spawning after all north pylons are done, once ogre lane has reached max strength, Itzel camp events done etc.
The whole Provisioner tokens needs a rework.
Hmmm….I can’t play it as I keep getting killed as soon as I poke my nose in there..If this difficulty level was for something special like a raid, or a HoT frac/Dungeon I could understand the reasoning for the difficulty and be completely cool with it, but this is a whole new map. The Devs created a whole expansion geared towards only the Elite players…and then they wonder why HoT did not sell as well as they thought it could. Sad.
How is it geared towards elite players. Are you seriously having trouble with pocket raptors, mushrooms and rolling Devils? I hope they don’t nerf the mobs. Get used to the idea of using more than your auto attack and green gear to move around.
I paid for fractal back piece which is not in game and has taken way to long to be introduced.
I paid for WvW Borderland …….
I paid for Legendary armour which until wing 2 was released looked like a long way from being introduced as well.
I paid for new legendary weapons of which we only have 3.
I paid for content that lasts. Both raid wings cleared on reset, I have bought a house in the swampland fractal, dungeons are dead and no reason to back and visit the Maguuma maps.
I paid for the story and LS. LS won’t be released until after wing 3 and HoT story was done in a week (1 day on a rerun after poison mastery nerf).
Is Stronghold even a thing?
I paid for 4 new zones which feel smaller than Queensdale.
I enjoyed HoT for 2/3 weeks then felt empty once I had what I wanted and waited for new content.
This topic has gone so far of track that I am surprised it hasn’t been closed yet.
The story in the raid is not tied to the main story of HoT.
Second I do believe raids are good for this game. It gives another layer to this game that was much needed, a serious feel.
Three problems with the DBL that stick out to me.
To many narrow passages. Remove a lot of the choke points giving room for open field fights. Right now it is hard to push against heavily outnumbered opponents and with the new no revive system you can just whittle down the lesser side by bombarding the choke which makes for boring combat.
Travel time. It takes a very long time to travel from location to location. If a lot of the choke points get flattened out then this may reduce travel time but as it is running north to south takes longer than a marathon.
PvE/gimmicks. During my time in WvW I was in a lot of fights that were in and around Lord rooms. Never once did I have to worry about the Lord when fighting a Zerg trying to kill us but here the lords are another mechanic. Leave boss AI in PvE. The gimmicks are a joke as well. I have only been to the air keep once on the attacking side. I don’t want to have to use my stability for the air turrets and not have it for a fight. if we do manage to get past all that and are winning the fight all the opponents have to do is jump down with no damage and I can’t follow.
As I mentioned in another post I have not got gold in any adventure and I am at 166. I did every lane event in TD, every pylon event in AB, every camp event in VB and every lane event in DS. I also set up LFG for champions that give mastery points as well as getting every mastery in open world using dulfy. At the very least I have silver in most adventures.
You are not denied content. You can find a guild to raid with that fits your schedule or make one yourself. If the developers listened to all the casuals then they might as well rename this to Hello Kitty Online.
I don’t have a single adventure gold and I am at 166. Do the events that lead to the metas and you will get there fine and you can solo them.
Good dps that isn’t just reliant on hammer.
But most importantly a elite spec with a movement increase trait.
