They could cancel the last 3 servers and join them with others. And anet wont do that because that would mean admitting a failing population on these servers.
There are more to the servers than just WvW. How is the PvE population on the server, or even the population as a whole? Especially during primetime?
How are the populations of the other servers during primetime? They might not want to merge these last 3 servers, due to the overall population, of all the servers, not just the WvW population.
There is no pve population on my server(FoW), new event in kessex hills? No-one there, tequatl? Never even been done because 5 people cannot do this. Same with every other event.
Same counts for Vabbi. Barely anybody in PvE here. Only place in the whole server where you see people is Lion’s Arch.
And on this topic: I personally prefer small scale fights. 40v40v40 – 50v50v50 – 60v60v60 are soooooooo boring. No personal skill for these fights at all. I would hate it if they made Vabbi another blobbing server (left my old one for that reason). Just fix (read: delete) blobs and the problem is solved.
And a permanent finisher maybe. So if you’re asking: is it worth my time?
> Only if you like WvW.
That image shows that not only structures and mechanics are not well thougt out for defence, but also supply lines for borderlands actually favor the attackers and not the defender.
Perhaps this was intended? After all, it’s easier for the defender to, well, defend. Look at all the places they can assault from within their own captured structures, and how many structures they can easily get to from their base. Two towers, one-to-three supply camps, and a keep. The attackers can each only get to one tower and one camp easily, possibly one keep. And that’s not counting the fact Bay is siegable from Garrison. All this considered, maybe the attackers having more ease getting supply for themselves is meant to offset this?
In addition, I don’t think the proposed idea for supply lines is very good. While sound in theory, it suffers one fatal flaw: Ease of disruption. All it takes is one small group managing to sneak near the enemy spawn and suddenly they’ve denied ALL siege for the ENTIRE map for one side. And THAT is purely decimating. And if one side gets pushed back to spawn, even if they take a camp through one of the side exits they won’t be able to get supply anywhere.
I wouldn’t say defending is easier. If you want to defend a tower against a blob… have fun. it takes about 2-3 minutes for them to get in and wipe everyone.
And no: it’s supposed to be decimating. DEFEND multiple places. It will cause blobs to have to split up… or to loose.
Vabbi is very far from the current Tyria so I ‘m not very sure if it’s good add stories about him now or if wait for the future when the map gets bigger and more closer to Vabbi. O.ò But whenever it comes, it will be welcome.
Herecy! Vabbi is right here. [#Troll]
Until he gets shiny he should be in the sister guild, Smelly Kitty Squad!
Last night was fun indeed, ty all. Although bit disappointed that a certain smelly mesmer promised us 5 guilds to fight and all we got were the usual BNF :P
Next week should be interesting, with Psy here too maybe we have enough small groups to do a mass pincer attack on DL?
Not to forget [ZEAL]. They have pirates! o-O
The game could use a revamp of its supply line modeling in the borderlands and EB.
I have attached a picture of what the current supply lines are like, as well as a proposed revamp of those supply likes from the perspective of the Blue force and Green force on the Red Borderlands.
The issue with the current supply lines is that it is very easy for a zerg to dominate all needed supply points and not need to stay and defend them thanks to the recap timers on the camp boss being longer than what it takes for a zerg to obliterate a smaller defense force at nearby towers, plus the camps generating supply out of thin air even when isolated from friendly control points.
This combination makes it difficult for small mobile havok teams to have the impact they should be able to have in cutting enemy supply lines, forcing the enemy to spread out to defend captured locations instead of moving in a singular mass.
Alternate supply modeling should be used to help combat the natural inertia of mass numbers.
The overall goal of such a redesign of the supply route model would be to make it increasingly difficult to assault additional objectives as each side has a static amount of supply being distributed per tick to all available camps, towers, and keeps.
Each portal keep should be the sole supply generator for each side; and caravans should all originate from there and radiate outward in a web pattern that requires a drop off point to be friendly before the caravan can continue on.
There should be no recapture blackout timers at any camp or tower; either defend it or lose it. The timers disproportionately benefit the side with greater numbers as is.
This would allow small groups greater ability to disrupt supply availability to the current front line in each zone by either destroying caravans or capturing undefended objectives. This would force an assault zerg to reallocate a portion of its forces to guarding each successive captured point; allowing defense forces on the other factions much needed breathing room when outnumbered.
Supply camps under this would no longer generate supply; but rather serve as a lightly defended stockpile point with a respawn beacon that consumes supply per person spawned there. This would put greater emphasis on fighting efficiently; as poor tactics focused on brute force can easily drain your side of supply at those camps; which means greater travel time to rejoin the battle as well as making it more difficult to quickly bring siege to bear on remaining enemy objectives.
This is a very in-depth analysis offering a sound and possibly very interesting and tactical mechanism. Should there be some kind of capture points that are held clear of enemies at all times or the likes in order to make sure zergs have to split up?
Yes this is in fact illegal. Please be sure to provide the internet police with the appropriate account names/fraps recordings/other circumstantial evidence so that we can be sure that justice will be swift.
Be sure to alert Interpol as well, this might be an international conspiracy.
But seriously though, I think at one point Anet said that it was part of the design that two servers could gang up on the third server if they wanted to, so I think planning a 2v1 is fair play.
International indeed. Since they’re EU servers without a language attached o-O

I think this would be a fantastic and fresh change for season 2:
Where instead of 3 servers fightin the servers are split by 3 colours and fight each other with WvW guesting allowed to servers within your colour.
OMG amazing. I love it. HIT THAT +1 BUTTON!!!!
Achievements
You need to make sure getting the achievements not feel like a boring grind and allow players to skip achievments for things they dont like doing. I feel the way you are doing achiements now with dailies is a good way of accomplishing this…except you should make it possible to get the meta without the living world dailies and still have the daily ones and use those as a way for people to skip the achievements they dont like. I feel clockwork chaos did achievments the best so far. Even through there no daily LS achievments for that release,it didnt feel like a boring grind.
Problem is, how can you make it feel like it isn’t a grind, when it is? I mean only thing we get from “achievements” are some meaningless cosmetics and meaningless points, since they’re just a score and everything is based on: kill x, gather y…
May I just add something for everyone posting here? Just wanted to say that seeing so many concerned with creating fairness and balance in the virtual realm’s, shows great promise for our civilization in the real world. Good on ya’!
:) Love you too.
Sorry, but this deserves it’s own thread. So it’s been said that there’s “probability of a new race or profession is high and so are the currently unreachable lands of the original Guild Wars”.
My speculation is quaggan playable race. As for profession, pure Ritualist would be nice to see. I miss my Spirit Spammer builds that would make an unending mini army of ranged attackers.
link to the statement?
Edit: and saying it gives me something to work for doesn’t work for me, because I don’t need something to work for. I need a fun game to play to blow of steam after work.
Exactly.
King of the hill would definitely work in GW2. PvP is basically designed for that.
Probably with a new map or existing maps with only the middle point enabled.
An other possibility would be an Orb so the fight is more mobile and not focused on one point the whole time, because i think that could get boring after a short time.Capture the flag could be a possible game mode as well.
- Every team gets a treasure, Gold coins, Orbs, …
- There need to be some people defending the treasure (bunkers)
- Others have to get the treasure from the enemy (DPS)
- If the enemy breaks through, CC could be use stop them.
MOBA Same as Dota/LoL, with minion waves etc.
- Level is fixed 80, you receive trait and skillpoints instead
- You start the game with a blanc white armor and you have to buy new stuff with the gold from your kills.
- You only have weapon skill #1 just like a lvl1 character
- The only thing that is free of charge are those basic weapon, so you can get every weapon from the beginning
Smaller Scale battles
- 1v1 (duel) and 3v3 would be nice
larger scale Battles GvG – Castles
- Every Guild has their own Castle with a Guild lord.
- You have to kill the enemy Lord to win
- There are Quagan Camps to support you, etc.
- Castle could be the Guild-halls and you are able to modify the castles so they are unique.
Just like a small WvWlarger scale Battles GvG – Ships
- There will be a new Science Tree for the guild
- Every Guild has their own Ship (probably some different designs to choose from faster+weaker vs. slow and heavy)
- It is possible to build jollyboats so you can have smaller squads and different tactics
- One person has to steer the ship
- The ships are full of canons etc. and you have to destroy the enemies ship
Yap I like this.
So if lets say my guild wanted to do an WvW event together one evening, and we managed to get more than 60 people online, we should not be able to do the event together?
That is bull kitten. You can’t possible know more than 60 different people. Monster guilds can’t be called guilds, since they don’t have any feeling of family.
Reward players in WvW for playing as an outnumbered force. Small servers have 0 motivation to play:
1- They always are the weaker server, and the high pop server overpowers them solely by numbers.
2- They usually don’t blob, while the high pop server blobs all the way and get rewarded for it (since when 60 people kill 20 and they tag them all, they get 20 lootbags… hooray?)
Solution:
1- Scores are calculated by number of players in the map at any given time.
2- Scores are calculated by the ability of lower populations to defend objectives.
OR we could go the drastic way:
- Delete Server vs. Server vs. Server and merge all the servers of EU and NA for WvW.
- Create factions that allow battlegrounds with up to 100 people (also choice for <20, <40, <60, <80 on smaller maps).
- Battlegrounds will never open up as long as there aren’t 100 people per faction ready.
- Guilds can decide to join a faction. Everyone in the guild will be member of that faction.
- Factions get scores dependant on these battles.
- Factions will automatically balance out because there always be fights for underpopulated factions, while there won’t be fights for higher populations.
First and foremost it NEEDS REAL consequences for failure.
As a reaction to this: I would have an incentive to play Living story (at the moment I skip it) if this would apply:
- Challenge: make it challenging for the players. No this does not mean you get a 1-hit death, it does mean the “enemy faction” uses better strategy than the general AI. Make it hard for players to kill those monsters, but don’t make it so hard that everyone will ragequit. Make defeat a possible scenario (right now it’s just mindless farming of clueless mobs that never even manage to place a hit cause you’re part of a 60 people zerg throwing around aoe).
- Impact: Make the actions of players and/or the living story enemy faction real.
An example: you don’t manage to defend ’Lion’s Arch’ against an invasion: friendly npcs in LA get killed or forced to run. Make it real. Make it permanent.
- Story: seriously don’t make it so stereotype. It’s good for a 12-year old, which I doubt a lot of people are in this game, it’s not good for your 18+ community. We expect something intellectually interesting and intriguing.
Request: Questionarie at the end of every living story, like the ones you had in the open beta.
Reasons: You’d get more player feedback instantly, forums can never compare to that.
Brilliant suggestion.
Lololol. That name xD Blobbar Lag. I appreciate that comment.
Oh and miss you too, sunshine. How is HT?Only seen them a little bit, they’re useful as a counter blob when they show up correctly, not really talked with any members.
Guess it’s worth having a counter blob in these grave times. :P
Still I want to see a video of you, so I can comment your gameplay.
Because , as your signature says, [Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
So this is either meant as joke, which is immature and not funny as kitten, or you actually are a good player, know whats up and know every way of PvP in this game whereas you mastered them all.
That’s, again, how you’re talking.
Get over yourself. I don’t care how “super pro awesome” anyone is as long as they do an effort for honest combat.
That doesn’t mean you stomp them if they’re worse than you, it means you stomp them if they’re worse than you and decide to fight only with the help of some buddies.
Player vs. Player requires respect from both sides. I honestly have a lot of respect for someone who goes off on his own instead of joining the blob, while he/she might not be experienced at all. If I encounter people like that I don’t stomp.
Living story?
Too busy playing SNES and running on the gear treadmill.
Can’t wait for treadmill armor next. :\
It’s close. :/
So the farmers can farm? Eh?
FUN
The use of fun as an attributive adjective, as in a fun time, a fun place, probably originated in a playful reanalysis of the use of the word in sentences such as It is fun to ski, where fun has the syntactic function of adjectives such as amusing or enjoyable. The usage became popular in the 1950s and 1960s, though there is some evidence to suggest that it has 19th-century antecedents, but it can still raise eyebrows among traditionalists. The day may come when this usage is entirely unremarkable, but writers may want to avoid it in more formal contexts.
<3
Wrong forum. (/15)
YAY. Infracted. Seriously though, why should people get rewarded for farming champions at all? They’re a piece of cake to kill (I can solo a lot of champions).
I think they should nerf rewards based on the number of players that tag the champion.
They should just severely reduce the victory rewards and points of the servers that have far superior number and greatly increase the victory rewards of the servers that are heavily outnumbered. By this way, people will move to other maps when they have superior number and move to other servers if their servers always have superior number
Problem is that there will be more people even on low tier, and that will result in blobs.
Gold league and silver league are near to unplayable because there are blobs of 70+ everywhere. Bronze is only league that is somewhat less blobby.
@Sumdumfoo:
I think about this the same way:
- In my case: Stonemist is one of the things hardest for Vabbi, and is usually only managed when we get our guild groups and commanders together for one big charge OR during night.
- JP’s I have no idea. I guess they’ll be camped but haven’t gone into any yet since leagues started.
- Good thing about fighting a blob server is that usually everyone mindlessly joins the blob, cause it’s boring to defend (we actually do defend and upgrade towers and keeps and man them, though enemy has superior forces).
Indeed, the difference between low tier server and med tier is that med still has some servers they dominate themselves (lower tier), while low is only on par with low and is terribly weak against any higher.
Personally I transferred to Vabbi cause I wanted to. I was sick of all the mindless blobbing and I hate the lack of competition. At least in Vabbi there aren’t blobs on the server itself, though we do fight against zergs most of the time.
Dear Ray,
after taking the time to read your post history i have to say that even for the forum of an mmo you seem like a very troubled young man. I will pray for you tonight.@Cameirus:
I’m quite aware of what to do against large zergs. The issue is rather that i don’t understand the motivation in becoming another server that tries to play like gold league. Personally i’m not troubled by vabbi getting stomped in points. I’m just baffled.I dont understand your comments. Play like gold league means what exactly? To play effectively? You want people in bronze to play bad just to cater to you?
Gold silver bronze has nothing to do with ability, its to do with coverage, pure and simple. Gold servers get all day coverage, silver less so, and bronze not so much. Its not about ability as such.
But in prime time its likely to be zerg mania on any server, no matter the league. why? because its effective.
You seam to want people to deliberately nerf themselves by splitting up, well sorry, not going to happen as you cant guarantee everyone else does it. And if we did that, then you turn up with a slightly larger group, are you in the wrong? what do we have to do? stand round before each fight and count people on each side and make anyone extra stand to the side and wait? No, alls fair in WvWvW. you want balanced pvp? thats what spvp is for.
Xept that SPvP only allows 8 players. Go play champ train if you like zerging so much.
Vabbits, you get such good Matchup drama.
FoW misses fighting Vabbi, we’re having blob troubles of our own, with Blobbar Lag.
Lololol. That name xD Blobbar Lag. I appreciate that comment.
Oh and miss you too, sunshine. How is HT?
We aren’t under an NDA, and no, the tests haven’t started yet – we don’t even know when they will actually start. Hold tight, I am sure that as soon as they do, ArenaNet will post about it and Guilds will start livestreaming/making videos.
Oh good to hear. Don’t let us miss out
Yeah my server is NA mid server who have been double teamed by nature (This should happen in EU I imagine) on week 1 and I imagine it will remain this way for the rest of the weeks.
The bigger server focuses on the 2nd place server because it has much resistance. The weaker server doesn’t want to get attention from the big server and always go pull the 2nd place server leg. This results in those 2 server occupy our BL 247 and the weaker server bl remain intact. And at the mid of the matchup we dropped to 3rd place. But our resistance is still high, so our bl is occupied by them 247 till the end. Do we indeed deserve the 3rd place fighting 2 servers?
This week is the same as last week. We are 2nd atm, and I don’t know how long we will remain 2nd. So at the end of the 7 weeks, if we are 3rd place for all matches, are we really conclused bad server? What is this league trying to prove? To tell us to transfer to big servers/bottom servers for easy wxp/AP?
Well, your tactics aren’t that great. If they are double teaming your BL, abandon it. Go take the 3rd place servers BL, and then come back and work on getting some of yours back.
Haha. You really are idealistic. Do you really think that if your enemies have superior numbers on one map, they won’t on others? Bad logic. Most servers in the current match-ups that have low pop vs. a high pop server are outmanned on every borderland and eternal.
um…. a day after and not a single video of the new map on yt. What are those pplz doingz
They most probably have a non-disclosure agreement, like everyone in the GW2 beta had.
Goodbye, skill lagg. You have always been a good sparring partner, blocking my skills, making it appear I didn’t have a heal and granting me and 59 other random pugs death in battle. I’ll miss you. X
/joke off – no really skill lagg is better on low tiers, but only when there isn’t anyone on the borderland.
Not yet, but we have a plan and, barring a setback, it will be in before the end of the year. Keep in mind, the solution we are rolling out is just a general solution to make it feasible to make them without running fractals, not necessarily a WvW focused solution.
So, what you are saying is that this is going to be a crafted item that will require ascended materials and crafting levels commensurate with them?
That will make it necessary for WvW players to go into PvE to grind materials both to get to 500 in multiple disciplines and to acquire the necessary materials once there?
I don’t mind if that is an offered route – but if it’s the only one, it kinda sucks. I would rather be able to just buy my way out of having to do PvE of any description. I seriously don’t want to do PvE and I know I’m not alone in that.
Heck – I’ve said before – I will pay actual hard cash – folding stuff – to be allowed to concentrate on WvW without all this nonsense.
Quoted for truth.
We have some thing that will be in the tests for the new map that will help WvW be more alt-friendly. We will talk more about it as we get closer to the test actually beginning.
It’s not rocket surgery. There is pretty much only one acceptable solution, and that is account wide rank. Pretty much everything else falls short.
Are you serious?
No I’m joking. >_>
Any Bronze league get in here?
“DEVON. KILLL THE-” No I’m joking. Not sure actually. Guess I’ll have to send in a request. :P
Yea, we don’t belong in bronze league, we’re too big and only bandwagoning our way to victory. The imbalance between us and other servers is too big and we are making all the matchups dull and one-sided.
http://i.imgur.com/i3Ropqd.jpgThat shows RoS as top blobber. GG
http://i.imgur.com/B9oXmpT.jpg
Vabbi top blobber confirmed!
Weird. I only see a 270 score, as much as RoS has at that moment. And I also see your in-game clock [5:19].
Tell you what: part of the RoS blob was sleeping, like any healthy person! It only shows Vabbi has a nice amount of night-cappers and RoS equals that.
When was the last time you came across somebody getting rolled by 3 of your server mates and didn’t add in on the fight to get credit for the kill?
every day
…winning by outnumbering just feels cheap.
Stop making excuses for being afraid of taking on even numbers
I agree. I left my home server Gandara because I didn’t like winning from lower servers just cause they didn’t have the numbers. It made me sick and caused me to quit for a few months. I transferred to the lowest tier server instead, and I can’t feel anything but pride for doing so.
The OP’s post isn’t about the specific situation of Vabbi. It’s about
- the poor state of WvW server balance,
- the sad phenomenon of blobs,
- the auto-attack mob farming a solo guy,
- the lack of tactics and competition.
Semi-Modern (since we have gunpower and glass windows and ships) with a fantasy element (races, magic) on a multiplayer scale.
And since they like to call WvWvW Wuvwuh, lets dub this SumFum (related to Sumthing).
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
I like the idea of combining elements from different classes. For example combine a warrior and thief together to create a heavy armor class that can use stealth skills. Doing something like this would make the classes more interesting as well as increase the survivability of classes like ele in the higher level areas.
Mmhm, that’s something with a lot of potential. But wouldn’t said ‘combos’ be overpowered, for example if you picked shadowstep elements from thief and combine it with a heavy damage warrior spec like GS – Axe/Axe or maybe Rifle’s Killshot?
What I’d like to know is this. Are you (ArenaNet) actually interested in ‘fixing’ these problems?
I’m sure a lot of people know things that would fix the big problems called imbalance and blobs, PvDoor and coverage wars, and a lot of people did post suggestions, so you shouldn’t have any problem fixing it (apart from coding it and so on).
I’d only like to know if you are considering the previous as big problems or if you are actually ok with them and think they are part of the game, so I (and others) know if it’s still worth playing, or if the only option is moving to another game for decent PvP.
I enjoy looking for 1:1 fights with my 10 person groups just to ruin these fights.
Haha, you’re the guy running away when I’m alone and you have 2 mates with you. :P
Not joking here, last week 3 people ran away from me while I was alone.
I’m afraid they’ll be asked to leave because according to this thread vabbi doesn’t want large guilds transferring: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/EU-Your-season-1-winner-predictions/page/2#post3097722
With good reason. We don’t have blobs on Vabbi. If big guilds transfers, instead of escaping the blob, they become the blob themselves. This has been said often, so I don’t see why you take it as a truth?
Fairly I’m pretty sure tonnes of people have been waiting for the biblical FSP AG Gandara matchup, so I’m cool with it – it’s been way too long.
Also technically FSP gained 2 rather large NA guilds compared to Gandara’s none, so coveragewise I think we’re more equal than you think.
I did deliberately not mark your match-up as fail. :P
Yea, we don’t belong in bronze league, we’re too big and only bandwagoning our way to victory. The imbalance between us and other servers is too big and we are making all the matchups dull and one-sided.

That shows RoS as top blobber. GG
i remeber when i was on rof just seeing fly hackers from vabbi
… Yeah sure. Last week me and a mate took down garrison with 2 golems. Omg HAX!! No it’s called skill.
Badgering posters about how they FEEL about the game only serves to reinforce those original feelings…it does NOT change them. Just a casual read of the previous several pages highlights this…..most of the “to-and-froing” was only personal opinion…..NO ONE’s opinion is right or wrong….it is a product of their experiences and values…..these cannot be overcome by howling them down…..winning a “debate” on these forums does not change opinions.
These forums are for players to express their likes and dislikes in the game and posters should be allowed to freely express those feelings. This is almost the ONLY way ANet can get real feedback…….if they and/or the cheersquad keep trying to suppress contrary opinions they might as well close the forums to public posting.
But what if the majority of players are satisfied, and only a small percentage of very vocal people are represented here? Will that give Anet the information they need to move the game forward? Are the cheerleading squad, as you put it, really representing a minority?
I don’t know myself. I just think it’s odd that you talk about people being able to freely express an opinion, but you’re somehow trying to devalue the opinion of people who freely express an opinion that happens not to be the opinion of people who don’t like something.
I think everyone should be able to express their opinions, even people who like the game as it is.
I think it’s more 50%-50%. But that means the game isn’t organized as it should be, since maybe half (or less or more) don’t like all sorts of content that Anet stresses.
