All you need to do is hold the right-mouse down as you move to lock the camera. Then double tap whichever direction you need to dodge. The short cut way is to move in the direction you want to dodge, then just press V.

id vastly prefer dodging in the direction i push on screen rather then the direciton i push combined with the orientation of my character.

Not sure I understand what you mean. Are they the same thing? If you double tap Right, then you dodge right of your character.

Pointless? Having a type of mechanic in game to increase immersion would be a bonus for all players, not just the RP community. And you don’t need to share Wallets or Account bound items. Just the option to be married and connected to another player is good enough. A unique title like “Tied the Knot” or “Married to (player name)” could easily be put in for couples.

Evon Gnashblade needs an LA honor

You are mistaken, my friend. You see, Evon was protecting the weapons from the invading forces. If he didn’t escape with those goods, we player heroes wouldn’t have been able to arm ourselves to fight back against Scarlet. Remember, Kiel appointed him Quartermaster, thus he was responsible for making sure all the soldiers were equipped. Being the responsible charr that he is, he was simply doing his job.

If you want to blame anyone, you can look no further than the Captain’s Council, who were warned by Evon. Kiel and company are just as responsible for all the deaths in LA as Scarlet.

After I took the survey recently, I was saddened to see that Evon Gnashblade didn’t have any locations with his name as an option to vote on. Then after the survey finished, I saw why. Ellen Kiel commissioned the survey. This is another blatant political maneuver to keep Evon’s name out of the history books. Kiel is using her influence from the Captain’s Council in an unethical way.

I ask the great game caretakers at Anet to step in and correct this travesty. Evon Gnashblade, Hero of the People, should…. nay…. MUST have an opportunity to leave his mark on Lion’s Arch (aside from the Black Lion Trading Company). I could recommend that the lion statue in the center of LA be remade into a monument to the brave charr to saved the citizens from certain death at the hands of his former legionnaire.

In-game Weddings speculation

Smooth Penguin.5294

When people hear the word “Chapel”, the first things a majority will think of is “Church” and “Wedding” because they are positive images. “Death” or “Funeral” is far low on the list, as that’s a more negative term. It’s like when you look at a cute quaggan. The first thing you think is “love” or “I want to hug it”.

As for wedding mechanics, why are some people so against it? I could understand the pushback if we were discussing solely homosexual weddings, as that’s a hot topic in and of itself. But weddings in general aren’t controversial. All religions have some type of union. I’m positive that each and every country that GW2 is played in has marriage.

Recently, I was running around LA to see the new happenings with this latest patch. When I came upon Deverol Island, I heard an NPC conversation that talked about a new Chapel coming soon.

Chapels are for weddings. This leads me to speculate that we’ll finally be able to have weddings in game! What a great boon for the RP community should this happen. Can you imagine you and your soulmate, surrounded by 100 of your guildies cheering you on as you tie the knot?

But if not player weddings, perhaps NPCs will have some romantic storylines in upcoming Living Story releases? Kas and Jory finally dedicating their lives to each other? How about Rox and Braham confessing their love? Heck, we could even have a Braham and Taimi storyline too, seeing how much they care for each other. The sky’s the limit!

What do you guys think? Does the upcoming Chapel sound like a great idea or what???

The new Legendaries’ Precursors will only be available through high level trait tracks. They’ll also be Account Bound, so it’ll be a true long-term goal. However, if a player decides to invest completely into the Precursor track, and bypass all other traits, then that’ll probably shorten their crafting by a bit.

Proper CCs into a zerg will prevent them from avoiding the Gravedigger attack.

I’m so happy for the new Necro specialization. Just by reading the blog today, I can tell that this will make Necros the new anti-zerg meta in the proper set up.

As a Necro/Warrior, these players are no longer just a mid to back line threat. Now, they can have a dual role, playing it safe from the back line by casting conditions and CCs, and instantly switch to a high powered melee dealer in the Reaper mode. Traiting with Chill focused sigils and runes, and you’ll be able to effectively control groups of targets within zergs. Add in some PTV armors for sustainability, and that’ll give you some time to pull off your Gravedigger attack within enemy groups.

Dare I say it… Necros are looking to be awesomely Overpowered!

FYI – The Secret World sold at most, 400,000 copies. They have an active player base of about 2,000 at a time.

As for system requirements, both games have similar minimum requirements, but GW2 needs a lot more cpu power to perform at the high level. So because you can still run GW2 with your AMD rig, you can play. If you want higher settings and FPS, buy an Intel chip.

You have 150 that have sub-par requirements to run. GW2 needs a lot of resources from the cpu. While you can still play GW2 decently, you can’t get great performance without upgrading your budget AMD chip to an Intel one. The price difference is shown in the quality.

now I got people on here telling me what freaking game I own, I have lots of games Crysis 3 , bioshock infinate , Battlefields , Flight Sim X, Witcher series , Arkham City, Skyrim, The Secret World, Civ5, Starcraft 2, etc etc etc… Arma2/3. Gw2 just runs bad, fluctuates fps drastically.

Specializations in GW2 = Dual Professions GW1

Smooth Penguin.5294

After reading the latest blog, I’m a bit excited that we’ll be getting a version of GW1’s dual profession setups.

  • Guardians will have a Ranger secondary by way of Longbow and Traps.
  • Necro will have Warrior secondary by way of Greatsword and Shouts/Stances (/speculations).
  • Rangers will have Elemantalist secondary by way of Staff and spells (/speculations).
  • Mesmers will have Chronomancer secondary (GW:Utopia canceled class).
  • Engineer will have Guardian secondary by way of Hammer and summons.
  • Etc.

It probably would have been so much better if we were able to select our own Specialization, instead of having it set per profession. At least this will open out more game play options.

They need to realize that not everyone uses Intel. Once again this is the only game I have performance problems with out of 150 games. Everything from flight sims to fps shooters all run wonderfully.

Not sure why you’re still at this when there’s a consensus that you just need to get an Intel rig. You can keep your AMD for your other games, but if you want to play one of the best games of this age, then you need a good processor.

Comparing your sims to GW2 is like comparing a Honda Civic to a Ford Mustang. You have budget performance, and you get what you pay for it.

The downside to this is that you can’t control what you get. If your aim is to go full Zerker build, it doesn’t help with a Cleric Weapon box drops.

[Suggestion] GW2 Gachapon

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

As a player who likes to “roll the dice”, I think it would be fun to turn the Black Lion Chests into an animated Gachapon. While some people may disagree with this (because of RNG and whatnot), I think that having a Gachapon could be a mini game unto itself.

You can purchase “spins” from the Gem Store, exactly like Black Lion Keys, and visit the Evon Gnashblade “game house” in LA. The machine would spin, and out would pop your prize! The prize list can be the exact same as what the BL Chests currently have. The only difference here is that it’s so much more fun to play!

Another idea would be to introduce the “Gara Gara”. The Gara Gara is a wooden Japanese lottery box that you spin, and colored balls drop out. Sorta like a Bingo cage. Only instead of item prizes, you can win Gold or Gems, depending on what colored ball drops out. Critics might say that there shouldn’t be this in GW2, but if you think about it, we already had this by way of the Moa Races. You had a 1 in 5 chance of doubling your money. The Gara Gara would just be a different game with the same concept.

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear what other players think of this idea.

Retrospective: "Is It Fun?" Article

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

I can easily counter this thread by showing what the bullet points actually mean.

  • Fun impacts loot collection. The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best.”

My Ascended Greatsword does the same damage as my friend’s Eternity. Nothing wrong here.

  • Fun impacts decisions. Every time you finish a dungeon you get tokens you can trade in for reward items that you want, rather than having a small chance of getting it as a drop, because it’s more fun to always get rewarded for finishing with something you want to have!”

I’m able to run a dungeon, get tokens, and select whichever weapon or armor I want. That statement still holds true, so I’m not sure what the point is.

  • Fun impacts development. Explorable dungeons have multiple paths you can take and random events. Because of this you don’t feel like you need to play the same dungeon over and over again if you want to chase the prestigious rewards at the end, but can instead mix up that experience to keep it fresh and fun.”

Each dungeon has different paths to take. Still does. Some paths provide more challenge, some are quicker. I get to vote on the path with my party, and majority rules.

  • Fun impacts customization. The event and personal story systems allow you to get a sense of customization from your characters.”

My Noble human storyline is different from my Commoner human storyline. Different events and dialogue takes place.

  • Fun impacts gameplay. The pursuit of fun in content led us to make many gameplay decisions, including:Everyone who helps kill a creature gets experience and loot, so you’re not competing with other players; everyone gets rewarded for events with karma they can spend to buy rewards they want, rather than get a random roll of stuff they might not want; content scales in difficulty, so if more people show up, there is still stuff for you to do”

When I kill the Karka Queen daily, I’m not competing with other players for the end chest. If I manage to come in and deal damage while the KQ is at a quarter HP, I still get loot.

Conclusion – Yes, this game is fun. I get to play how I want, when I want, and all without a subscription fee.

Edit – One of the real metrics Anet looks at is how much Gems is purchased with real money. I’ll give you some data on that right now. When I get home from work, I’m going to buy another $50 in Gems. Why? Because I love this game. I can afford to convert my Gold into Gems, but that does nothing to support Colin’s salary.

No it will not get bad loot. It will get good loot less often than a new account. There will be plenty of good stuff just less of it.
Do you understand?

No, I don’t understand. It’s like saying “RNG is RNG, just less of of it.” That’s not how it works. Each loot attempt is based off of a percentage chance to roll on the existing loot tables. See below:

Loot isn’t assigned until the player interacts, so technically 0. I could estimate based on probabilities, but that would be some work.

If you had a 10% chance (made up % for example purposes) to get a Beta Portal from the VW, that doesn’t mean you just have to do 10 runs to guarantee the drop. Each time you kill the VM and loot the end chest, you get a 1 in 10 chance of rolling the Beta Portal. So the next time you kill the VW and grab the end chest, it’s still a 1 in 10 chance.

Magic Find alters the RNG percentage roll, but that’s as far as it goes. Anet confirmed that RNG is not different per account. No one account is coded more lucky than another.

By the way, here’s a little tidbit for you guys who use forum replies to support your theories:

Can you do me a favor? Recap your theory in a paragraph, as I’m getting really REALLY confused as to what the point of this thread really is. As far as I remember, this thread was just about the perception of RNG being good or bad, depending on the outcome of the individual account’s loot.

Then if you play both daily you don’t match criteria for the theory. if you would actually read thread you would see its about accounts that don’t get played often. not daily, not every 2 days, or 3.
Answer : Both your accounts RNG is active because its played daily. (not those accounts who just rest for long times)

Answer : The longer you play the larger the qauntity of loot you earn (duh)

Here’s the part that I’m getting confused on. You said that if I don’t play an account for a while, when I log back in, I’ll get much better loot than when I was playing. Then you say that this theory doesn’t work if you constantly play a long time.

So if I already get good loot (i.e. Exotics and Precursors) from playing constantly, how is that so different from the account that I stop playing for a few months, then start playing again? Why would I need to stop playing my alt in order to get better loot, when the better loot comes when you constantly play?

TL;DR – My older main account gets drastically better loot than my newer alt. My older main account gets Exotics all the time, while my alt hardly ever.

What? but you just said something completely different.!!!!!! if you want answers get your story straight. Do you play a lot or 4 hours a day? guess you really are attempting to troll. You’re so bad at it. Another one to report.

Not sure what you’re getting at. Is 4 hours a day not considered “a lot”? I would assume it does, as I play all game modes. Then after I finish the 4 hours on my main, I log into my alt for an hour before I go to sleep. Weekends I might play a couple of hours more per account.

Anyways, you never answered my question. How is it that my accounts are the complete opposite of what your theory calls for? Why is RNG better for an account I play a lot, and not for the account I do on the side? I still play both daily. It’s not like Anet flipped a switch to give me better loot, simply because I support their system.

By the way, I give John permission to look into my account data to prove my story, if that helps you any.

If age plays a factor into loot drop dynamics, then is my account bugged because it gets more loot than my alt? Why is it that some accounts that aren’t played much have such good RNG, but my account that I play a lot has good RNG? Where does my account fall into this conversation?

yeah its bugged. File a ticket

So to sum up the theory in this thread – Players who get better drops than other players isn’t just because of RNG, it’s because RNG is broken. If RNG worked properly, every player would be getting the same good loot.

I can only hope John comes in to confirm this.

no, see, you still have too many stacks of confusion. let me help you.
To sum up this thread – Players who play much less frequently receive higher quality loot more often than compared with those who play incredulous hours as evidence collected through consistent and repetitious forum threads.

There must be a Mesmer nearby, because I just got 25 stacks of Confusion again.

If I play for 4 hours a day, and frequently get better loot than my alt that I play 1 hour per day at best, how do I end up with a completely different outcome than your theory?

So to sum up the theory in this thread – Players who get better drops than other players isn’t just because of RNG, it’s because RNG is broken. If RNG worked properly, every player would be getting the same good loot.

I can only hope John comes in to confirm this.

Threads been about difference in account loot based of age.Not RNG. but then again anything that your loot in the game is RNG related.
That’s okay to be confused. Alot of people feel that way when can’t understand something.
I don’t think hes trolling I think he cant comprehend the situation.

no it means your alt will get more and better loot than your alt was 2 months ago. nothing to do with your main. be more specific when you’;re asking questions. Dont ask " Did you see the thing with the thing do the thing on the thing?

But how does that explain my main then? I play that daily, hours at a time, and I’ve gotten a lot of Precursors and Exotics. I do PvE, SPvP, and WvW. How do I get good loot when I play a lot?

What about it? is something wrong with your main?

I don’t know? I’m trying to understand what this thread is about now. First it was about RNG. Then it turned into Loot from the RNG. Then we got into discussions about how less playing time equals better loot.

As for playing less = better loot – I’m confused as to how my main that has thousands of hours can have better loot without playing less.

Now you got it. Play your main all the time and stay off your 2nd account for a while and you will definitely see improvement in loot when you next play it.
Edit : Where are you getting this " Guaranteed" thing? no1 said you’re were guaranteed anything but you’re loot will be better.

So wait, if I stop playing my alt for a few months, then start playing it again, I’m not guaranteed to get anything but my loot will be better?

anything? oh no you are guaranteed something. for sure. tons of stuff in fact. just as your guaranteed loot now. Will it be better? better than what?

I’m just trying to understand this thread. If my main already gets Exotics and Precursors, that means an alt that I don’t play as much will get better or more loot than my main. Did I understand you right?

You’re not included in the numbers because just as you said " I Play daily". this is about newer accounts who don’t play as often getting fantastic drops when they do. Why is it no one is understanding age problem isn’t about how many days you’ve had an account but hours played

So let me try to understand this theory. In order for me to be group in category of “lucky” accounts, I need to have the following:

  • An account I purchased in the past couple months
  • The account can’t be played daily, or must be played sparingly

If I meet these two criteria, then I’m guaranteed to get good drops on that account?

nothing was ever said about the account being purchased recently. You like the others in this thread are only identifying AGE with days. not time played.

Ok, so I’ll revise the criteria. So if I have an account that’s not played much, then I’m guaranteed to get good drops?

Edit – meaning if I stopped playing on my alt for a while, when I log back in, I’m guaranteed to get an Exotic or Precursor.

Aiden, I think you summed up the answer to this conspiracy thread quite nicely. Your post completely counters every single speculation.

+1 to you.
