The solution to people’s “silk” problem is simple. There are multiple ways to get it, without buying from the TP.
- Play WvW. You get a lot of loot drops from killing other players. Salvage the light armor drops and Discarded Garments.
- Use Karma to buy high level light armors, MF them, then salvage. Not the most cost-efficient method, but still doable
- PvE farm high level maps. Playing the game normally allows you to get drops that can be salvaged.
Using the methods above, you can get stacks of Silk per hour. Even more so if you have a portable Mystic Forge with you.
Sad Penguin is sad. As soon as I read the blog post, I pretty much stopped right there. I had that feeling like when I saw the new trailer for Star Wars, and Han Solo says “Chewie, we’re home.”
I was reading the latest Anet blog post, and came across this juicy bit of information:
Led by charismatic demagogues and mounted on giant beetles, the Zintl fanatics have begun a brutal campaign of terror and manipulation to force the Itzel and the Nuhoch into recanting their faith in Ameyalli in favor of Zintl.
Is this a secret that Anet has been working on for years? Might we finally have mounts added to GW2? Does anyone know if this is true?

I think it’s about time Anet introduce a new tier of Gem Store goodies for the players. Right now, we have a lot of low cost cosmetic add-ons that we can purchase with Gems. Nice weapons and armors, unique finishers, and even minis. Everything we see in the store is affordable. So now, after 3 years, maybe Anet should think about the players who like to spend their discretionary income on this game we all love.
Now I’m not here to suggest a VIP subscription or anything. What I think would be good, however, is the introduction of more expensive, premium items. An example could be armor skins with unique auras, or existing armor skins with additional auras to make them stand out in a crowd. Imagine wearing the Flamekissed skin, but now you give off a Sunrise/Twilight type fire trail behind your body as you move. I’m sure people would be willing to pay 4,000 Gems to get this upgraded skin version. Or how about an adorable Mini Penguin that waddles as you walk, and slides on it’s belly as you run? I’d so pay upwards of 8,000 Gems for this.
Basically, the Gem Store would still offer everything that’s currently there. Nothing would be taken away. The only change would be a section that sells higher end items or skins for higher end prices. The key here is that absolutely nothing in the premium section would give any statistical advantages what-so-ever to prevent the potential “P2W” criticism. It would appeal to a wider range of players, and also open up new revenue streams for NC Soft.
my post didnt say that damask is broken its more about suggestion that will we ever have different ways to get the materials for damask so we can farm them with ourselves in the new HoT system, im talking about masteries and map rewards theyve implemented in HoT not the one we currently have but i also agree in other comment that currently the ways of getting the material for damask than the amount of damask we need does not match.
what i wanted are some kind of HoT content like for say masteries to get cloth that you put masteries into it and get benefit for getting more cloth when you salvage. something like that or like when you finish a jumping puzzle or events on a certain map youll get wool as a “map reward” for your daily damask crafting. These kind of content is what i wanted to “fix” the lack of ways (imo) to get the cloths we need to craft our endgame gear not only for our mains which is mostly got thier full set but for our alts also
Before you suggest something to be “fixed”, you first have to find something that is “broken”.
Damask is perfectly fine the way it is. If you’re not happy with the accumulation of cloth, I may have posted a way to get around this. You’d have to dig through my posts, as I’m too lazy to look myself. The quickie version is to use Karma to buy Linen based armors, forge them, and then salvage. By doing this, I’ve made stacks of Linen to both sell on the TP, and to use to make more Damask. If you’re worried about Karma costs, Karma comes by fairly easily in WvW or EotM.
Ah, so one of the patches completely broke it this time? Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
I heard there was a bug with one of the achievements for the LS in regards to getting the boots (?).
If it’s the bug with the mote, that’s been there since day one, and we still got through it. I encountered that numerous times, so I know how people feel. The fix is to have each party member deactivate and then reactivate the storyline, and re-enter. So it’s not impossible, just irritating.
Everyone knows that this is just a marketing ploy by Gaile and the local Seattle government to get people to move there so we can work at Anet.
Clever girl…
On a side note, are some of the perks being invited to the Anet guild and having lunch with Colin?
I’m hearing a lot of people saying that it’s impossible to get the full set. But I, as well as others, have the full set. I’m confused as to which armor set people are saying is bugged.
Honestly, if you twisted and turned your camera just to find the right (or wrong?) angles, then what did you expect?
There were no evil motives for twisting and turning my camera. I was just admiring how awesome looking my Mesmer was on a broom. The smiling expressions characters make while on the broom bring out a different side to my battle hardened caster. It just so happens that I noticed something missing down south, and realized that I shouldn’t be seeing what I was seeing.
Edit – All I’m really asking for is for the Devs to add underwear to the Luminescent armor.
I don’t see anything wrong on these screenshots. But yea, I’d like female models to not turn into Tera-alike kittens.
You see nothing wrong, because I only attached the tame pix. There were far worse angles that showed a lot more that I expected.
So I was playing around with my riding broom in town, and discovered something game breaking. My Mesmer in full Luminescent armor is running around commando. I took some screenshots in hopes that the Devs in charge of skins will see and fix this.
The first pic shows what Light Luminescent armor looks like normally in a stance. This is what we all see.
The second pic shows her sitting on the broom. If you notice, there’s seems to be underwear. But upon further review…
The third pic I had to censor. This is where we get to Rated R territory.
I love my armor, but I think that it’s too risque on a broom. I’m sure Anet never intended for any character to show too much skin. Wasn’t sure how to report this in game, so I figure I’d take it to the forums.
But what about bunny ears?
Yes. Bunny ears too. In fact, a Mini Llama with Bunny ears, as well as the head gear skin.
Ill, you don’t understand. Llamas are a truly wonderful creature that should be shared with everyone. Anet must make this available to either Gem buying customers, or allow them to be tradable on the TP. I’m sure all the Mini Collection players and Llama lovers will agree that it’s about time for this mini to be made more available.
Maguuma is the #1 NA skill server. In other servers, if a player is good, he is considered to have #MagSwag.
TC is a great server to roleplay and WvW in. You’ll find smaller havoc teams and large zergs. The best of both worlds.
If you’re a really good player, BG is a place to aim. They’ll even pay for your transfer fees should you prove to be one of the bestest. They’re known as the rich server, with a War Chest that surpasses imagination.
JQ runs a lot of open field siege tactics. They have large numbers of coordinated zergs that take the frontlines, while Ballista and AC cover their flanks.
Not sure how DB, SoS, and FA are these days.
I see this as an exploit of mechanics to artificially increase kill counts for WvW achievements. But since GM Chris allows this, it makes me want to transfer to EU so I can join this kill fest.
Going off of the previous conversation that was archived (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/bltc/Suggestion-Lama-mini-in-the-gemshop/first), I’d like to make a plea. I would like to either have the option to buy the Mini Llama in the Gem Store, OR, allow players who get one to put it up for sale on the Trading Post.
I love Llamas and Alpacas. They’re the greatest animals on the face of this planet, after penguins of course. And since there’s zero chance a Mini Penguin will be made available, the next best thing is to aim for a Mini Llama. Now for full disclosure, I’m horribad at SPvP. There’s no way I’m going to be able to rank high enough to get a free mini.
I, along with countless others, will probably never get our hands on the Mini Llama. I ask, for the sake of revenue, that Anet please consider putting this up for sale. I’m willing to pay an extreme amount of Gems, or Gold to get this mini. Put it up for 2,000 Gems? No problem. Allow players to sell it on the TP, and I’ll pay more for it than a Jetpack. If there were a dare to run across the Anet lobby in nothing but speedos and wearing a Colin mask, I’d do it. The sky’s the limit!
I have the perfect solution. Sell the exotics on TP. Use the gold you got from selling them for crafting rare GS. Gamble!!!
Oh trust me, I’ve considered that. However, 200+ Gold worth of Rare GS isn’t worth the additional risks of attempts. I’d rather just craft Rare GS from all the T5 I get from WvW, and slowly pump those into the MF.
200 gold is much to me >.<
Anyway it’s not a good sign when you’re looking to other people to help you justify gambling. If you’ve come this far, your mind is already trying to tell you not to gamble. :P
Actually, I only like to donate to Zommoros in big batches. That’s why I’m at the cross roads of either selling them all, or forging them all.
(edited by Smooth Penguin.5294)
So I’ve been amassing a small collection of 84 exotic GS. I saved up all exotics that Zommoros gave me from MFing Rare GS, or crafted directly thanks to cheap Flawless Snowflakes. I’m at a loss as to what I should do with them right now, since new Precursors will most likely only come from the tier 4 Mastery in HoT.
- If I sold them, I estimate that I’d get about 212 Gold after TP taxes. That’s a guaranteed 212 Gold.
- If I MF them, I’ll have 27 chances at getting Dawn or Dusk. That’s a 0.8% chance x 27 tries to get an item worth 700 to 1,000 Gold. But I also get the satisfaction of attempting to get a Precursor (thanks ludomania!)
Should I sell them or just take a shot in the dark and MF them?

Are you using internet from a mobile phone provider? Because $50 per month for limited access seems like quite a bad deal. You should shop around and see if another company offers unlimited access.
As for updates, they do indeed come often, as Inculpatus mentioned. Patches hit every other Tuesday (American Standard Time), but it’s best to see the announcement page before logging in: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news
In real life, women in the military still dress nice when going out. You’re not constantly at war, so there’s no need to be in digies 24/7. Warbands are the same. Females remove their plate armors when looking for mates, and might buy an outfit like the Exemplar.
Next thing up will be a request for asura in seductive outfits…
Nothing wrong with Exemplar outfits for asura. If an asura were to want to attract that big burly norn that saved her from dragon minions, this would be the perfect outfit for her.
(edited by Smooth Penguin.5294)
I doubt that charr standards of seduction would even match our own. For all we know, a charrs attractiveness could be measured by size of the horns, with no merit being given to the outfit at all.
But what if said female charr is trying to attract a handsome human thief that killed an Elder Dragon by joining the Tyria High Varsity Cheerleader team, only to be disappointed by the lack of seductive outfits in the Gem Store? The day the Exemplar outfits are released, is the day of redemption.
She could always transfer to TC Bayside High, where the cheerleader squad is ranked #1 NA, but her family currently doesn’t have the funds to pay for such a move. Still, Tyria High is a fine school for all RPers to attend. A charr can learn a lot about humans there.
Why would a female Charr be trying to attract a human?
Because interracial love has no boundaries?

No, you are wrong. The “legend” is not really his mother, since she did not care about her biological child at all. OTOH the “nobody” is his caring PARENT who did trade a career and glory for his child happiness, and that is SOMETHING. Because a good and loving parent is something way more valuable than a skilled slayer (and from the dps point of view Eir sucks even as a slayer).
If the game wants to teach us the opposite point of view, it is bad.
You really need to understand the norn culture first and foremost. A huge mistake you’re making is that you claim they should follow human cultural naming practices.
As for legends, again, you need to read up on who the norn are. How many Elder Dragons did his father right? How many did Eir fight? In this context, Braham’s father is more akin to a stay-at-home parent than a warrior.
Guys, seriously. This thread is about charr outfits, not judging others. Besides, some of us take charr RPing to the next level.
ArenaNet is a company that does not discriminate based on Age, Sex, or Race. Making the Exemplar outfit matches the company policy.
Charr are a war-loving race, but that doesn’t mean the females can’t look good every now and then. Good teeth, a strong set of horns, and a frilly dress is what all the Tribunes want these days.
I dunno, man. Rytlock, Blood Legion Tribune, seems to like ’em with unimpressive frames, ungodly large eyes, and unflattering, clippy longcoats.
Sigh. Why, oh why, won’t Rytlock-sempai notice me?
Because Rytlock onii-chan hasn’t come to Divinity’s Reach and RP’d with the best charr community in all of Tyria. But the awesome levels won’t reach over 9000 until more outfits are in the Gem Store.
I really love charr, i have several female charrs, and i enjoy good looking armor on them (which is harder to find than i’d like) but when i saw that outfit on my charr…. ugh…. well no thanks. It’s not sexy at all, and i don’t want my charr to be “sexy” in any (human) way. Except maybe for what the charr themselves consider sexy, which is probably very different from what humans consider sexy. You know… healthy fur and teeth, shiny eyes, healthy/big antlers/horns – the kind of things animals usually base their choices of mates on. Armor/clothes that maybe emphasise their muscles and not something like this outfit. To me, this look is more ridiculous than anything. And no offense, really, i am glad at least some people will get what they wanted to see on charrs. It’s just so not my thing.

I’m all for a meat dress outfit, if they also release the meat greatsword skin that’s already in game.
Now as for “reviling” dress for female charr, the fur already covers everything up, so charr are naturally censored.
Back to the outfits, if we had more outfit options, that would make the player base happier. Especially for RPing players who really like charr.
I was ready Dulfy the other day, and saw the upcoming Exemplar outfits. At first I was excited, until I saw what it looked like on female charr. I was instantly sold, and have my creditcard ready to get more Gems.
There’s just a limited availability of sexy looking outfits for female charrs. As a way to satisfy the small percentage of hardcore charr Role Players, there needs to be more outfits in the Gem Store. I think the Exemplar outfit is a good first step in solving this pressing issue. I implore Anet content designers to bring out even more outfits, because charr need loving too!
One more thing. Due to the wall hacking ability the sepia mod gave, it made WvW semi-broken. So if an Airplane Tonic is introduced, it should only affect the player character’s arms and sounds while running around.
I loved being able to relive my childhood by running around with my arms stretched out, all while making engine sounds. April Fools 2015 was epic, as it was last year. So that got me thinking of another way to monetize this game and help Anet make some profits. Last year I had the suggestion to sell a tonic that made us bobble heads, and lo and behold we got it a few months later. I’m going to ask for the same again, this time for the Airplane effects.
With the bobble head one, it was a ground based consumable that everyone could drink from. I suggest Anet go a different route this time, and just sell a permanent Airplane tonic to be kept in your inventory. I feel that doing it this way could lead to more sales, as people wouldn’t be able to share the consumable. If you wanted to run around as an airplane, you would be forced to buy it yourself.
Let’s do this Anet! More Gem Store items for all!!!
F=G(m1m2/r2) G the gravitational constant is like our RNG. m1, m2, and r2 are like our magic find and other variables. F (force) is like our loot, roll, or whatever. While G is constant, it means bupkis in terms of F (loot) until figured in with the other variables.
Please tell me Penguin what part of this ^ is too complicated to understand? It must be something……bupkis? perhaps?…it means “nothing”.
Aha, but in terms of RNG in this game, each player is “G” when you first start this game. If you never click on an Essence of Luck, use MF food, or never reach any level that grants a permanent MF boost, we all have the same chance to get a Dusk.
The universe always has other variables to add to the calculation. In GW2, the variables are optional.
Edit – Forgot to mention that John was correct in his original meaning of his statement.
I play on NA primetime in T1, and the only time I see lag is when there’s 150 of us in SM Lord’s room. Other than that, not so much. So it might actually be the player, or the routing of the player’s ISP.
That’s not what I said now is it? I said that different accounts have different magic find. When RNG interacts with that magic find (which is different for each account) it produces different results. It’s the whole underlying premise of magic find. Therefore the statement of " RNG doesn’t use anything of the user" is meaningless as RNG in of itself is meaningless until it interacts with our accounts (which again have variation).
That said….in the same thread……(if I recall right..the very next comment)…I noted that JS missed the correlation between a “stuck account” and an “outlier”. An outlier is essentially a stuck account till the time in which it is no longer an outlier. Basically the two are one in the same. It would be like saying “We don’t have weapons, but we have things to hit people with.”, which ofc doesn’t hold water.
I can’t believe you spun what John said into something completely different. John indicated, correctly, that all accounts are made equal in the eyes of RNG. No one account is luckier than another. It’s a cognitive bias. You compare your string of bad luck against someone with good luck, and based your assumptions that your account is worse off.
Now you are correct in saying that Magic Find does affect the outcome for each individual account. But realize that John wasn’t basing his answer on this. He’s talking about everyone’s account at a zero sum. RNG doesn’t discriminate, nor does it have preference. If Dusk has a 0.05% chance of dropping, it applies to everyone (before MF modifiers).
I did nothing that wasn’t spot on. I didn’t spin it into anything that it wasn’t. I simply explained why what was said, was either inaccurate (like the 2nd point) or inconsequential (like the 1st). I did not say anything about my own experiences in that post.
But you’re trying to make it sound like John is incorrect in his statement by spinning the facts in your favor. All accounts are equal, period. No one individual account is luckier than another.
It’s like saying Newton’s law of universal gravity is incorrect, because there’s no way for us to correctly calculate it 100 million light years from the sun.
I’m not trying, he was incorrect, at the least in his wording for that specific case (the one where he contradicted himself).
Your analogy refers to the other case. For that, a better analogy would be saying that “gravity effects everything the same”. Which is fine, but basically useless until you consider the relevant variables…ie…mass and distance.
Actually, John is correct. You’re spinning what he meant to fit your arguments. Each account is equal in the eyes of RNG.
Allow me to use another analogy. It’s like John saying a Hamburger is a burger on a bun. Then you come along and say it’s really a Cheeseburger, since it’s been modified with a slice of cheese after it was cooked and put together. Take away the cheese, and it’s still a Hamburger, but you insist on putting the cheese into play, thus altering the end result.
You’re mixing up the two points. One was about rng effecting accounts. The OTHER was about outliers and players being stuck. The points I made were specific to each.
PS edit: that analogy was really really bad btw
1) You’re the one mixing points.
2) The analogy works well with what you’re doing. The Hamburger (“Absolutely it does not use anything to do with a user.”) is a burger on a bun. The Cheeseburger (“RNG as a mechanism has no bearing alone and must have other factors to interact to funtion.”) is not a Hamburger because of the cheese modifier. So your whole attempt to prove John wrong is from you saying that MF does alter an account, therefore it does have to do with the user. While MF altering an account is technically true, RNG is the same for everyone as it’s core.
I understand you’re good at trying to argue (from the days of the BLTP forums), but remember that when you attempt to play devil’s advocate with what John says, we will correct you every time.

A little clarity:
Players that did this will not be actioned, as this farm was an unintended (but inevitable) side effect of the Obsidian Sanctum map. This “farming” was not an exploit, or against our Rules of Conduct. Our rules of conduct very specifically define what would be considered a violation:
“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”
Since Obsidian Sanctum does not impact the WvW results, “kill trading” is not against the rules for this map or mode, and thus this rule is not applicable. However, macroing/botting this would be (I’m watching you!).
This situation is very similar to a situation found in PvE where players continually fail an event to farm monsters. While not in the best interest of community and gameplay, the game itself lends itself to interpretation of what is allowed because of how event chains are setup.
Obviously when you put 3 server spawn points so close to each other, things are going to happen.
For now, until we fix OS…
GM Chris, while I respect you a great deal from playing with you in game, the issue here is the artificial kill counts. Getting 250,000 kills was something that we WvWers saw as a prestige. Only the best and hardcore players could get this through normal play (yes even in EotM). Being able to tag each other, and get kills over and over again, IMO, is exploiting a mechanic. It’s not on par with the Godskull or Snowflake exploits, as it doesn’t affect the economy, but that doesn’t make it right by any means.
If Tequatl didn’t drop any loot, would you have let TTS abuse the vulnerability glitch for easy kills and achievement farming? I would hope not. But we voluntarily stopped and let you know about it, because some of us have pride in playing the right way.

For WvW, the game-changer would be if they changed might stacking to be uncapped as well.
(Plz don’t do that.)
How much extra damage would one do if he had 100 stacks of Might on a Hammer Guardian? And as an aside, how much extra damage would 100 Guard stacks do? If any math whiz players are here, I’d love to hear the numbers.
You’re going to be seeing more enemies that are immune to physical or condition damage in PvE. Having stats in both areas will make players more well rounded to handle various challenges. Being pure Zerker or Condi is a thing of the past. Plus, Celetial gear in SPvP is ultra strong.
Hi there! Welcome to Guild Wars 2! As a new player (or someone’s alt account), it’s important to understand that the 15% fees of the Trading Post is a Gold Sink that helps keep the economy healthy. Gold Sinks are one way to keep monetary inflation in check, thus preventing a collapse of our currency.
As for repairing LA, realize that Evon Gnashblade is not on the Captain’s Council, thus there’s no reason for him to share his personal wealth with politicians. Ellen Kiel was elected in the previous year’s elections. Forward all complaints and/or concerns to her office or Magnus’. Until then, know that the great Evon Gnashblade will be willing and ready to assist the citizens of LA as much as he can when he’s elected properly.
Celestial gear are really powerful in this game, thus these time gates are more than reasonable. Heck, if Anet changed the limit to 1 charged per week, it would still be ok.
In this day and age, who would use the same password and login information across multiple platforms??? All you need to do is create multiple G-mail accounts, and use them as unique e-mail logins.
I thought this game was about skill based combat
Skill is not only knowing how to dodge, but to also know your limits. Leeroying into mobs alone is never a good idea. As you learn to play, you’ll discover what you can and cannot do. We each learn at our own speed, so don’t feel bad if you fail the first few times.
Oh, and welcome to Guild Wars 2!
Reward is an Reward. There’ll always be someone who wants something without effort. I want a complete Fractal skin set, but I’m bored of doing Fractal runs, so it affects my balance quite severely.
As for Nomad’s gear, it’s already sold as a recipe. The materials you need are all farmable or purchasable on the TP. There’s nothing stopping you from making one. As for Celestial gear, yes that would take you longer to craft, but that’s the price you pay for something you desire. Put in the time and effort, and the game gives you satisfaction.
Side note – Watchwork Sprockets and Mechanisms are on the TP too. So everything is ok.
Yet another attempt to smear Evon’s name. Before you complain about the airship conditions, please understand that when running on pressurized steam, there is a need to release the excess to reduce strain on the pipes that run through the cabin. Without such a mechanic, pressure build up could easily blow up the airship from the inside out. So IF the Havoc’s Heir was Evon’s ship, the “steam leaks” are a sign of good engineering.
Also, prolonged exposure to heated water is actually good for one’s complexion, as it breaks down the oil in one’s pores, giving you a youthful glow.

I can answer your question by asking one of my own: Why is Gift of Exploration an exclusive reward for those who complete 100% of their map?
And for what is Gift of Exploration used? One item: Gift of Mastery. An item used to make a Legendary weapon which is available for trade in the auction house. Players aren’t required to explore 100% of the map to earn a Legendary weapon anymore. Players can simply purchase the end result from another player. Why should equipment with unique stat combinations be any different?
Players can’t make a Legendary to sell without first getting the unique, account bound reward. Someone has to first get the Gift of Exploration from 100% map completion.
Let me ask you another question: Why are Fractal weapons an exclusive reward for only those who run Fractals?
