My preference, add loads of outfits in the gem store and put the new armors in game.
This would satisfy a lot of people. Those like me who don’t mind sending money on looks, and those who want more rewards. Anet had the opportunity to do both with HoT. New mechanics can mean new challenges that give you exclusive in-game skins, but there could also be Gem Store Outfits that compliment the mechanics as well. For instance, more types of “wing” skins for the gliding.
And you can buy them from the TP.
Um, not sure what you’re complaining about. The Collection tabs show you exactly what you get for completing each collection. If you did it for the sole purpose of making back money, then you made the wrong choices. Anet has nothing to do with “making you feel stupid”.
What else is there to release, if not Specializations? We already know about Gliding and the Revenant. It’s only logical that the next big talk is what each Profession can turn into.
The rumors in game and out in the community are saying that there’s going to be a load of HoT info released tomorrow. My hope is we get to know each new Specialization. And maybe Gliding Mounts, who knows? The expansion can’t come soon enough!
Prepare yourselves to be run over by the Hype Train!!!
I removed Steam from my PC. Even though that means I lost all the games I purchased, it was a good trade off. Why do I need to open a program, just to open another program? GW2 runs fine by itself.
Now as for “exposure”, that’s what PAX is for. People who love MMOs don’t use Steam to find the best big hit. We follow gamer mags and blogs, and get info from reputable services.
The price for using this exploit is sitting in the back of the 80 man queue. Not worth the effort to troll an opponent out of a loot bag, unless you know you’ll drop a Precursor.
“Following” someone is an important tool in WvW. When you know of the driver or commander on the enemy team, knowing what BL they’re in is key to having good fights, or knowing where to go to avoid the zerg. It it’s really “stalking”, per se. In the real world, that’s illegal. In the virtual game world, it’s just knowing where someone is.
Now if they’re abusing you in game, that’s a different story. Then it becomes a reportable issue.
I need a swimsuit outfit for when winter endz and I can swim freestyle.
Also need it for the warm oasises in Meguuma.
That should be easy, since multiple swimsuit skins are already in game, via Southsun Cove’s private beach. I’ve been waiting for years for Anet to release them into the Gem Store.
Once they added an outfit, they should keep them there permanently, even if it is related to some holiday.
There are some that I want to buy, but they are not available anymore, and don’t know if they will come back. That is at least 1 sale revenue they are missing.
There’s a marketing strategy to bringing out limited time items. It adds some prestige to the item, making them more appealing to some. When a player sees that X item is only going to be available for 2 weeks, it forces them to make an impulse buy, or a purchase that they might not have considered if the item was always there. Research shows that a business can make more money from certain impulse buys than to offer it everyday.
This works for in-game drops too. Consider the Jetpack skin. This was an ultra rare drop that was taking out of the loot tables. Whoever wears this is automatically assumed to be a great player, giving them an “awe” factor.
They could have made a lot more money off the mix n match. I believe I paid more than 800 for the gathering shorts, sleeveless hoodie and witches outfit (for the boots). I would have paid 800 each.
They could make a lot of money selling different running and walking animations. Maybe a limp or a skip. They can start by putting the old human female running animation in the store. I’d pay money to have it back.
They could make a lot of money selling idle animations and adding tech to make each distinct animation an account bound thing you enable/disable on a character by character basis. Maybe flipping a coin? Flexing? They can start by putting the human female idle animations in the store. I’d buy them back.
Sadly, it’s not always about money. There’s also the healthy and appropriate demon.
Or…they could add some more hazmat suits.
Interesting side note: Spell check suggests I go with mahatma instead of hazmat. When in doubt, Sanskrit.
Those are great ideas. Perhaps they could be incorporated into new Outfits? Say, certain Outfits you buy may allow for unique /emote commands!
Its where SoS rolls through and blanks out all the structures we own on our map.
Actually I have no idea but that’s the only thing I could think of.
JQ did the same to us last nite, rolling through T3 Keeps with 50 Omegas and 100 players.
- I spent many years writing freelance for tabletop games such as Vampire: the Masquerade,
ZOMG I love you already!
A roamer’s paradise is Borlis Pass. If you were to transfer there, you wouldn’t have to worry about blobs everywhere.
How stable is the rest of the server though? A happy medium between the blob and a ghost town would be nice.
Would you consider “roaming” to be the ability to cap Stone Mist by yourself?
With all items in the Gem Store, players have the option of buying Gems with a creditcard, or exchanging Gold in game. People like me support Anet through creditcard microtransactions, and the more variety in the store, the more we’ll spend.
Yes I would like to mix and match pieces of armor, but that still falls into the idea of having more customization. What I’d like is just a lot more options, period. I don’t go to the store at the mall, only to look at a handful of clothes. If it’s one thing my wife taught me, you need to browse through everything, trying on piece after piece to get the right feel. I’m looking for the Gem Store to become like Macy’s. Give me three floors to browse – Outfits, individual armor pieces, and accessories like Bunny Ears.
I’d rather templates to add multiple armour sets be added first so we can switch to what we want quicker
That would be a good idea to go with multiple Outfits. What we’d have to be careful of is unintentional clicks that drain Transmutation Charges for templates we didn’t want to select.

Penguin is a well known troll. Don’t fall for it, just ignore.
Hey now, that hurts. I’m not sure where you’re getting your information from, but I assure you that I’m a dedicated player such as yourself. Trolls don’t make posts that offer ideas to Anet to help increase sales, now do they?
Having Outfits that allow us to mix and match would be good too. They core mechanic that will make all players happy is more variety.
One Dev can multi-task on different projects. While most of the staff is working on HoT, there are still others in the company that cycles through current projects. Colin will never tell us what’s in the pipeline, but I can assure you that they’re always looking for ways to increase sales.
On the flip side, I would like more earnable things in the game too. I’m currently rocking a full Luminous outfit and love it. But again, the key to this is variety. One moment I may be glowing as I kill people in WvW, the next moment I might want to change to my ninja outfit with wings.
Adding more Outfits is a great way to do so. If the Wings skin comes out in the Gem Store, that’ll be bringing in a large amount of sales. If a schoolgirl uniform Outfit comes out in the Gem Store, you know that’ll bring a large amount too. Or even swimsuits. Or Mounts. The options are endless!
Like many players who have reached “End Game”, we’re left with few choices. Either we farm for money, or we outfit our characters. Farming for money can be fun, but the best fun is when you can combine the two choices, and farm with style! This is where we have a problem. Look-customization is limited at the moment.
The Gem Store has only a few options to pick from. Depending on the player, some Outfits may be amazing, and some may be lacking. In order to satisfy a greater majority of players, what we need is more options. The Gem Store needs to add a lot more Outfits This helps Anet in two ways:
1) More Gem Store Outfits = more revenue. Players want style, and many like me are willing to pay for it. Give us variety, and our wallets will open. Let us show NCSoft that we love this game with the only way that matters – increased sales.
2) Happy players. When players are happy, they’re more likely to tell other people about the game. This leads to the best type of public relations a company can get: free word of mouth. My friend Kenage from TTS loves this game so much, he tells everyone about it. He would show videos of our epic Tequatl kills to strangers, and then they get interested in this game. An even bigger plus is when we can show off our epic Gem Store Outfits! If we look good, that could attract new players who also want to look good while killing dragons.
So Anet, listen to the players, and give us what we want. Give us more options. Add more Outfits. Bring back bunny ears. Allow gender specific clothes to be worn by both male and female characters.
If you code it, they will come…
You said I have enough bank space in one sentence then admitted I need more in the next. Your fanboy logic has no power here
Actually, it’s basic logic mate. You have enough space to enjoy the game, period. If your own needs to hold stuff exceeds what’s provided, then that’s your own choice to hold all that extra stuff. At that point, it’s also your choice to purchase more space or to delete stuff.
IF you don’t want to delete stuff, then buy Gems. Anet profits, and you can enjoy the game. See, pretty simple.
Anet provides you enough bank space to enjoy the game. If you need more, you have the option of buying extra. You aren’t Entitled to more stuff simply because your needs demand it.
Amusing how the word “feminism” and “objectivity of females” enters the conversation and all the guys get all defensive and offended suddenly. Sometimes, guys are just…priceless.
I think some men understand “feminism” much better than some women.
Let’s get this thread back on topic.
We want speedos and skirts for male characters. Make it so Anet!
You also forgot chest armor that displays the abs and/or chest.
If we get male speedos, I’m happy. Imagine my heavy armored norn Guardian in WvW, huge metal chest, arms, feet, and red speedos capping a Keep.
Let’s get this thread back on topic.

I get the feeling that this thread will be locked. It went from a suggestion, to a debate over gender objectification equality.
I’m sure they’ll add metal Speedos for every armor weight with the new expansion, so no worries.
My creditcard is ready.
Yeah I see. But it would be a parody work. The title lends the idea of how the story would go, but in the Tyria universe.
The question I actually had was who the lead writers are with Anet. Before anything, I’d like to share it with them first.
you have to use 3 wood LOGS to make 1 Plank….I’m not talking about the price or supply or whatever…it just bugs me that only 1 plank can be made from 3 logs….seems pretty inefficient to me heh. and OMG 4 LOGS for 1 soft wood plank.
Can it be tweaked or something so it makes some semblance of sense outside of the whole supply control idea? just saying….3 logs 1 plank….bleh.
Soft wood takes more, because the wood is soft.
Genuinely wondering…..
If they are making harder content that will be open world, I still wont be able to do it with so much color and spell effect exploding on my screen.
Is this going to have a slider in the option menu like every other AAA game out there?
There already is. In the graphic settings menu, I believe it’s the Post Processing effects. Turn that off, and the big ball of white from spells on the Champ Boss goes away.
The setting is as much a part of the story than just the drama. Sure I could name my characters Bob and Diana, but that would take away from the direction I want to go.
Awesome black wings??? Sounds like P2W.
I’ve been contemplating writing a fanfic book inspired by some “roleplay” in Divinity’s Reach. It would be a parody of another popular vampire fanfic, turned world phenom. My intent is to use lore and locations in the Tyrian universe, starring such legends as Mhenlo and Cynn, or more current characters like Kas and Jory.
I’m fully aware of the Content Terms of Use for using Anet assets in such a way. This, of course, would not be for profit or any commercial use. However, I’d like to keep that option open for potential license agreements. In the spirit of the idea, should I complete this project, I’d like to share it with the Anet writers. Would any players here know who the lead writers are? I already have the Anet office mailing address, but I’d like to take note on who to attention my draft to.
:D
I demand that my male norn be able to wear skirts and/or dresses.
+1 to this thread
The Trading Post is just another PvP game mode. The sooner people realize this, the less upset people will become when their items get undercut. On that note, realize that there are many rich players who can afford to post and cancel Eternity listings, so competing with them is a losing battle. The best you can do in this situation is to sell to the highest Buy Order, or put the sword up for sale at a price vastly lower than the current lowest price.
What, you don’t want to hear Evon Gnashblade mini saying “I was the favourite!” over and over again?
No, he would be saying “Kiel cheated me out of my rightful place on the Captain’s Council”.
I can attest this to be the truth.
They will ban your main account, and all other alt accounts used in the multibox if caught.
Not sure if trolling. The poster above you already linked the official stance.
Trolling. Multiboxing is allowed.
Forgive me. Multiboxing is allowed, as long as you’re not using it the way the program was intended to be used (i.e. controlling multiple accounts simultaneously). Clearly, if you tell someone “multiboxing is ok”, they’ll assume you meant controlling one real account and have multiple slave bot accounts follow your movements.
So again, if you’re caught using it the naughty way, you’ll have all your accounts banned. I think GM Chris might have mentioned when he got rid of someone’s main plus alts.
I was looking to find something that everyone could relate to. Perhaps I should have stuck with Moses and the Pharaoh. I’ll delete the post that offended my friends.
I’m only comparing the scenario that one group felt what they did was the right thing, when in reality, everyone despised them for it. A similar example would be the Spanish Inquisition. Or Christopher Columbus stealing the native American’s lands.
Edit – One more well known example would be the reason why Moses opposed the Pharaoh, and why he parted the Red Sea.
Are you really comparing historical events that involved death, suffering, and torture with the slight inconvienece of missing an event?
That is just…special.
The core theme is the same. You have two different groups, with opposing viewpoints. But the majority supported the “correct” side.
The one thing that I will admit to being upset with was when the Collections first came out. Some people discovered very rare drops would be a part of the certain collections first, and bought up all supply on the TP. In this case, there was an economic impact to releasing information through bloggers.

This, is what I guess I was trying to have come across in my initial post. This is what I would rather see Anet do instead of doling it out to a special few people.
Again, these “special few” are indeed special, because their voice reaches hundreds of thousands. It’s cheaper, marketing wise, to spread info via word of mouth from dedicated player bloggers, than to pay for advertising to spread news. Tech and Game reviews are one thing, but when you heard it from your everyday player (like Dulfy), it tends to mean more. You can trust a “friend” far more than you can trust a company that’s paid to spread information.
Ok, so I am most likely in the minority with this train of thought, but it kind of frustrates me that a few people in this community of ours get special treatment, let me explain.
A favored few youtubers have been getting all sorts of special treatment from Anet, like being privy to knowledge of future events that are going to happen, that they can’t talk about until it’s officially announced, but they get to know about it anyways, and then get invited to secret press conferences and given information that the rest of us can’t know about yet?
I am just as dedicated a player to this game as any other, but I don’t make Youtube videos, so I, as well as many others are not among these “privileged” few. The point I am trying to make is if you have something to say Anet, then SAY it, and don’t say it to a favored few among the community and then have them regurgitate it to us…
Tell me, how many people does your voice reach? (And no, Facebook bulletins don’t count.) Then compare that to how many followers Wooden Potato or Dulfy has.
To make another example, if you made an announcement to the world that you build your own computer, and Google does the same, how many news/tech blogs would care what you had to say?
Should I report ALL those chest farmers (that’s a whole lot of reporting / clicking!) because they prevent me from doing what I want?
If you don’t mind me jumping in on this part of the question, I say you should report all the AFKers who sit around taking up precious map slot space. We had this issue with the Scarlet Invasion, and GM Chris was kicking people he caught AFKing in hidden areas.
For the love of Dwayna, please fix this bug. Despawn all the Toy Golems in all cities. It was funny the first couple of days, but now… it’s gone beyond silly. The noise they make while standing around, along with the mini Hoho-Tron’s little Salvation Army bell is too much. I’d rather stare at the seizure inducing Lyssa Temple fight on high post processing than to sit in LA sorting my bank.
Why would one group be more entitled to this event than the other, anyway?
We’re Entitled to not be griefed by having an organized group of players hijack the stated norm of FE then Steam Ogre. When trolls come in and say “oh well, you’re came too late to do Steam Ogre early, too bad”, that should be a reportable offense. The group is purposely ruining the game for the majority who expects events to be done in proper order.
We were here first. The community established the norm. Random pugs aren’t all in the same voice chat server to be warned in advance that a troll group broke the train.
Again, I will say that with the Open World PvE, you do have the right to play the game the way you want, but if that means upsetting a community, Anet needs to step in and stop it. Changing the Steam Ogre to be accessible after the FE (the way it was meant to be) is the simple change to solve all this. Or at least make the event reset upon the FE’s defeat.
This is why I grabbed a bunch over a year ago. With investments, you can’t wait until news breaks. Gotta take the chance and dive in super early.
Pro Tip – Platinum Ore price will triple in value in the next few months.

@ Smooth Penguin
Please don’t speak for me. I don’t want to upset people. What I want is to be able to play this game the way it was designed, within ToS, and have fun without being attacked for it. My actions may upset some people, not a whole map, but that is a consequence for my actions — that does not make it my intent.
You claim to not want to upset people, yet you openly proclaim that you’ll continue to do just that because a couple of other forum posters gave you words of encouragement.
