I’d have to agree with the majority here, most human females already look very young.
The point here is that it’s not young enough. More options would be welcome. It’s not like it’s game breaking or anything.
They can’t combine servers, because in the event that there’s a mass influx of new WvW players, the combined servers won’t have space to hold them all. The best option at the moment is to keep the servers as they are, and just try to give more incentive for PvE players to WvW more often.
One good way would be to force WvW rank 300 to be able to craft Precursors in HoT.
Size and body type can give the illusion of a younger character from far away, but when you get up close, you’ll see that they’re just a short adult.
Maybe Anet can make a “non-combat” character type that allows us to RP as teenagers? These special character types wouldn’t be allowed outside of towns.
T1 and T2 have higher populations of players who like to WvW. It’s a game-style choice we make. Anet can’t force T3, 4, 5, 6, 7 servers to WvW if they don’t want to.
I think maybe this is a cultural difference between gamers? I don’t look at my avatar as some object to drool over. I’m just looking to have more options to customize my characters. In many fantasy movies, you have the teenage hero slaying dragons and wizards, like Harry Potter or Narnia. Having that in game isn’t so bad.
pretty balanced? wow, you must play a different game than I do. I’d like to play that game.
Feel free to transfer to BG or JQ in Tier 1. Some of the best zerg fights I’ve ever been in has been in T1. Here, skill determines which zerg stands supreme.
Just play to have fun. Skill comes with time. However, if you want to run with strangers in dungeons, and they expect all party members to be able to hold their own, you shouldn’t feel bad if they kick you. It’s nothing personal. Some players want to be able to speed through content with experiences players. Same holds true for PvP.
Reading guides is helpful to get effective builds. The next step is to learn to use those builds to the best efficiency possible.
So earlier, I was playing around with my character’s appearance, and noticed that while I have many setting options, I can’t make my human female look like a teenager. Every combinations I tried, just looked like a short adult.
I realize that there are rules against child human avatars being hurt in game, so it’s understandable that you can’t create a child character. But I’m looking to see if there can be more options for looks: Younger and perhaps even Older.
Time to buy more Gems to bump NCSoft’s figures. On a side note, I didn’t know AION was still so popular. Another side note, poor WildStar…
WvW is pretty balanced in and of itself. The only imbalance that I can see from the post above mine would be individual player skill. But that’s the beauty of this pseudo open world PvP. If you fight an enemy that has more skill than you, you’ll always end up dead. And we get to rub it in with awesome Gem Store Finishers!

Legendaries don’t look too good on asura, simply because of their small size. Weapon sizes adjust to the relative size of the character, which is why norn are popular with flashy Legendaries.
The only real reason I play an asura is because I’m not allowed to make a female human child to RP with. Now all I need is a school outfit, and I’m set.
Just loging into a game to get rewards is casual play in my book.
Then you should have over 1,000 Laurels by now if you didn’t spend any. The system is working as intended.
The forums aren’t a place to discuss 3rd party software. Use Google instead.
I have nothing to spend Laurels on, so making them farmable in unlimited quantities is a horrible idea. Even after spending them on the Mystery Cat Tonic, and Ascended stuff, I have a pile that just sits there.
I think the best choice you could have made is not quit playing. Just because you decided to return to the game, you’re not Entitled to catching up for all the lost time you chose to lose.
It is not because you did not stop playing and have a tons of laurels that this is a terrible idea. Some people play MMO casually and other, like me, play them intensively. Why should the people that take their time and do not worry that much about elitism should be equally be rewarded for their game time? Do you think this is fair? If yes then be proud of time gates and I can refer you hundreds of time based mobile game that you will probably like.
People who play casually do not deserve the same rewards as someone who plays daily. If you put in the efforts to log in and get your Daily/Monthly Laurels in the past, then you’ve earned them. If you don’t play as often, or quit and just returned after a long absence, you start where you left off. That’s pretty darn fair in my books.
“Soon” = 2-3 weeks?
Soon = Less than eternity, but greater than tomorrow.

HoT Gliding = Flappy Bird speculations
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

With the excitement of a brand new way to travel, I’ve been analyzing potential ways Anet will implement the new Gliding mechanic. The spoilers we’ve gotten so far is that we’ll be able to trait for such abilities, and be able to ride gusts of wind to travel to new areas. Couple that with the desire to add more challenging content, and you have yourself a brand new type of Jumping Puzzle that will be both fun for pro jumpers, and frustrating for the uncoordinated.
Looking at the mechanics of the popular game Flappy Bird, this is the closest idea that I can see Anet pulling off. As you glide downward, you’ll need to find gusts of upward wind to carry you further. The challenge will be to keep hitting these pockets of “boosts” at the right time to make it through barriers (tree branches and such) to reach chests or other type of rewards. One miss and you’ll need to restart, similar to the Skipping Stones JP in Southsun. But I’m sure it’ll be so high, that Mesmer ports will be impossible for quickie finishes.
So from now until HoT release, we should all start practicing a bit of Flappy Bird. If we can master that, we should be able to have a head start on getting access to all them super secret special areas.
THE NEW TRAILER SHOWS DINOSAURS. I LOVE DINOSAURS!!!
we need to get the devs to create a mastery where we can ride
VELOCIRAPTORS!!!!!!!
/mounts confirmed
I heard that Paralda perma-quit the game, and no idea where Duke is. So if there’s a revival, there’s only Xushin and Snoopy. Unless someone can call Cody Crusher and Old Smeller to return.
#never5get
If you played the game Flappy Bird, you’ll get an idea of how flying might be.
Likely not a large enough player base there to be worth the expense.
True.
It is a well known fact that 90% of the Australian population are in fact mounted on kangaroos.
Fixed that for you. Although my wombat cavalry may want a word with you
Anet can’t put servers in Australia. The Drop Bears would get into the building, and end up shredding the wires.
ye so lame that we get free content to keep us going in between expansions instead of waiting ~2 years without getting anything.
/sarcasm
Now take that same mentality and apply it to your favorite tv show. Why should a network give you the final season for free? It should go direct to DVD on a per episode basis for $20 a pop! Best way to milk your loyal fans.
You can’t use the same analogy. The TV show was free to begin with. GW2 had to be purchased.
Now visiting your DVD analogy: You can record your show and watch it free forever, or you can choose to purchase the DVD and get some extra content that comes along with the show.
Herein lies the difference between players who PvE, and experienced PvP players who use strategy and tactics in battle. The power is in the mechanics, not how much damage their skills can do. When you have one class that’s able to switch freely between different Utility and Elite skillsets, it’s “OP” in the hands of smart players.
Technically, the idea of Revenants’ mechanics itself is overpowered. That’s not to say I’m not going to play it. I’m openly making sure the Devs hear my viewpoints in advance, so we can get our expansion as soon as possible.
Yes, because having to pay for an optional expansion to the core game is blasphemy.
/sarcasm
Rangers are OP.
ok, that’s the confirmation i needed that you were trolling.
If you played SPvP or WvW, you’d see that Rangers are one of the most dangerous classes out there. Longbow your HP down, and when you get close, Greatsword swap, and it’s over.
Now please, enough with the trolling. I made a serious thread in the hopes that Devs consider Player vs Player gameplay, in addition to PvE balancing.
My information is based on interviews from the mouths of the great Colin and Mike O’Brien. They state that the Heal, Utility, and Elite skills will change with channeling of your selected Legend spirit. That’s much different than an Ele changing between Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart. Pro SPvPers will be able to adjust their in-combat battle tactics more quickly than other classes.
Think about it. One Legend could be good for anti-Melee, and another could be good for anti-Ranged. The possible versatility of this class will be miles ahead of anything we’ve ever seen. That’s why I’m hoping there’s time to consider all possibilities before Open Beta comes around. A faster Beta balancing = faster HoT release.
and how exactly do we channel these legends? what if they’re like, say, ranger pets, in that you can only have one or two options at a time? are rangers OP because they can change from tanky pets to condi pets to dps pets to CC pets to even healer (!!!) pets?
Rangers are OP. They have ranged knockbacks, and hit you with 11k crits before you can even get close. But that’s for another topic.
The point that many people are missing is that I’d like Anet Devs to consider the SPvP elements, in addition to the new PvE elements now. By doing so, it’ll mean far less refinement by Open Beta, and that means we get our expansion quicker than, say, Summer 2015.
I regret selling all mine. Should have collected them until I got a stack.
In the wise words of The Tick…
@OP
You mean Ellen Kiel’s back from stealing all the recovery funds from the LA coffers? Yes it’s true that she showed her face, even with the fact that LA is in ruins due to her ineffective leadership. Thank goodness that a true hero like Evon Gnashblade and his son Hobo-tron will save the day.
Hero-Tron is not his off spring. And, after saving his life and helping make him a free citizen, Ellen is probably the closest thing to family Hero-Tron has. Unlike the filthy Evon who’s only trying to extort, use, and abuse our poor Hero-Tron.
Hobo-Tron is not being exploited in any way. The great hero Evon is trying to prevent more pointless loss of lives of the citizens of Lion’s Arch. Heck, without Evon’s upgrades, “Hero-Tron” would be a pile of scrap at the bottom of the bay.
Side note – Since Evon spent time upgrading Hobo-Tron, one could say that he’s his step-father. That’s more “family” than the evil Kiel will ever be.
This…. this is game breaking!
Welcome back, btw.

In game politics is like real world politics. Kiel promised cheaper WP costs, and the masses fell for it. So players got something that benefited a few Silver in savings, but we end up with a shattered Lion’s Arch. Council members bickering over fixing LA does nothing to help those without homes.
Let’s face it, Ellen Kiel hates charr people.
~~~ snip ~~~
So what you’re saying is that you’re a real life Taimi, and GW2 is your Scruffy? That’s the best analogy I could think of.
Can't play on Windows 8.1 (more inside..)
With Alienware, you have the option of purchasing Windows 7 Pro instead of Windows 8.1 as the base OS. It costs a lot more, but in terms of less problems, it’s priceless.
With all the information being released by Colin and MO, it appears that Revenants are going to be a bit too overpowered. Now you’re probably asking why I would make this claim before the expansion is even in Open Beta. What it comes down to is versatility.
Revenants are going to be able to use their based Weapon skills, and channel spirits that change their Heal, Utility, and Elite skills. With this idea, there’s concerns that they have more playability than any other class. If you can Weapon Swap, that allows you to have a nice variety of skills to use strategically. But if you can “Utility Bar Swap” in combat, that might give too much benefits for smart players in SPvP. Couple that with the speculation that you can select different Legend spirits to channel, and assuming each has it’s own strategic play style, and you’ve just inserted Ursan-mode v1.0 from GW1.
I hope the SPvP Devs keep this in mind when they have their brainstorming meetings. I’m going to LOVE trying out this new class, but I hope there’s some balance as I don’t get ROLFstomp’d in matches.
The Hype Train rolled through, and knocked out the SW server. This announcement must be HUGE for that to happen!
TC doesn’t have queues except for EB during NA primetime (9-12 or 1) and reset night.
BG tends to hibernate or come all out.
JQ has 24 hour coverage and as of this past month is the most stacked server
I heard rumors that BG War Council is talking about tanking to get to Silver, so they can win 1st place easily. That could explain the current hibernation.
I have 2x as much of Dragonites dropping as I do Empyreals. I’m close to my second stack of Dragonite Ingots, and I’m just barely at a full Empyreal Star stack. I’m tempted to turn in my WvW Tourney tokens for more Empyreals.
As for Bandit Chests, the ratio is about the same. I tend to get ~20 Dragonite per chest, and ~10 Empyreals. So not fair.
I think it’s a language barrier issue. You see, in the American language, the term free can mean both “without cost” and “without barriers”. In this case, your free entry meant the freedom to roam the area without getting attacked.
If you’re a really good WvW player, servers like BG might actually pay you to transfer over. Their War Council leadership have a large coffer mainly used to buy players.
Honestly, you should have logged in during the Halloween events and got it then.
Greetings Colin and friends. I have a humble suggestion should the Seahawks go on to win the Superbowl. In celebration of Anet’s favorite football team’s victory, we players should get a 50% off deal on all items the great Evon Gnashblade sells, for the entire week. Going further, perhaps making a deal with the NFL to sell licensed Seahawk jersey outfits for our toons. Wouldn’t that be an awesome way to continue the Hype Train?
If you don’t want to wait for Windows 10 to come (Since 8.1 is horribad), get an i7 PC with Windows 7.
Another way to look at this situation: If the red circle shows up, and dodging doesn’t work, wouldn’t avoiding the red circles be the next logical option? And if you choose not to avoid the red circles, whose fault is it really?
I think it’s a Learn 2 Play issue really. Dodging and evading are necessary in PvE if you don’t want to die. This game is punishing to people who have a Hack & Slash mentality.
My experience w/refund - Jan 24th-25th promo
Um, no? At the time you purchased the game, you were fully willing to spend said amount, and gave it away as a gift. I’m guessing that your “friend” fully enjoyed the game for the past 2 weeks. If Anet didn’t have a sale, you probably wouldn’t have batted an eyelash, and there would be no problems.
What we have here is a person who doesn’t understand how sales work. Promotions are a dime a dozen in the real world. There’s always deals for when a company wants to expand sales. And when it comes to price matching, each company has their own discretion on what type of policy they’ll allow for partial refunds. If Anet had a policy to refund each and every account whenever a sale occurred after such a long time frame, they’d be spending more time than the few minutes it took to deal with you (it doesn’t take an hour to copy and paste responses). Think of it this way: You bought milk 2 weeks ago from the market, and today there’s a 50% off sale. You consumed the milk already, and now want a refund. Does it make sense for the market to give you your money back?
Anet’s customer service has to deal with a lot of problems. You got an answer from one person, then it got escalated to another, and then another. Sounds like your typical chain of command for dealing with appeals. You weren’t happy with the policy, and it’s understandable that you’d want to vent. If they gave you the refund, that’s great. But if they don’t, you should go off declaring “bad PR” for something like this.
I found a picture of the faces we can choose from.
The internet…. you just won it.
You do realize that Windows 10 is not a complete OS, right? It’s a preview, sort of like how certain games let you play the first couple of levels before you buy it.
