Please fix T3 Cultural Armors AP count

You bought them with Glory, so they don’t count and likely won’t ever. They want you to buy them for the full gold amount in order to get AP credit. Sadly, I just don’t see it changing. :\

Then why make it available in the first place?
Why does the T1 cultural armor rewarded through personal story lv20 counts?

To be honest I purchased 3 pieces of Asuran armors from PVE before.
But at that time, PVP and PVE outfits are separated.
In order to keep my look, I bought those 2 times so I can look like that in both PVE and PVP. Now they open up wardrobe and no longer separate armors into different version. Meaning I waste money for nothing.

If they aren’t going to fix this, I should have my 60g back through mailing.

Back then, PvE and SPvP were separate. It’s not fair to all of us PvEers if you got credit for a set that cost half the price we paid. Plus, you initially got the armor for the looks, so you were already satisfied with your purchase.

First off, ground turkey is amazing. Ground turkey makes you strong.

Agreed – ground turkey is amazing! I eat turkey burgers (sans bun) 3-4 nights a week!

Its not the turkey that makes you strong, its the hormones they add to their feed. But usually, you dont feel that strength building up due to all the antibiotics they also add.
While I was working (as a chef) in Boston about 12 years ago, my girlfriend was in the US Track and Field Team and preparing to go to the Olympics in Athens. She failed a drug test. Her hormone levels were too high and they traced it back to some turkey she ate the day before the test.

This is why you should stick to non-GMO turkey from Whole Foods. Studies show that humans were much healthier thousands of years ago, because they ate all natural vegetables, and meats from free roaming animals they hunted.

Taco Bell has these amazing things called Club Chalupas. They’re chicken chalupas with a special club sauce and bacon bits. They’re delicious; my favorite thing Taco Bell has ever done. Unfortunately, they’re not a permanent menu item. They come back once in a while, for a limited time only, then they’re gone. I never know when they’re going to start selling them again (if I did, I’d be planning ahead to ensure I had enough money to buy at least one every day, they’re that good.) The last time they had them, it was during a period of time where I hadn’t gone to Taco Bell for a while due to a number of different circumstances. I had no idea they were selling Club Chalupas again until my friend called me and told me he’d gotten one the day before.

Of course, I immediately rushed to my local T-Bell and ordered half a dozen Club Chalupas, only to be told that they were a limited time item and they were no longer available.

Taco Bell completely screwed me over with their limited-time-only item. I’m sorry I can’t swing by my local Taco Bell every day to check and see if they happen to have the Club Chalupas for sale. Sometimes, my wife wants Burger King; sometimes my kids want me to actually cook dinner at home.

Seriously, it makes me want to quit eating Taco Bell forever.

Taco Bell should just put the Club Chalupa on the menu all the time. That way, they could make more money! I don’t understand why Taco Bell doesn’t want my money.

Again this feels to me like two separate issues. One of price, one DIRECT availability, meaning you go obtain an item, you do not go obtain an intermediary item and exchange it for the item you’re looking for.

I’m having trouble buying your assertion that the two issues are independent. Many proponents of the existing system have repeatedly made the claim that the system works precisely because you go to obtain an intermediary item (gold) and exchange it for the item you’re looking for (silk). If silk were available from a vendor for a fixed price then I would agree that the two issues are separate.

However, that’s not how the system works. There is no silk cartel in GW2 (that I’m aware of). Most players that I have spoken with simply match the lowest sell price on the TP at any given time when listing items. However, a certain percentage of players is always willing to undercut the current price. For this reason, as the surplus increases so does the number of undercutters.

The high demand for silk has completely eroded the surplus. This is why leather goes for coppers while silk goes for silvers. In other words, the price is a function of direct availability. I don’t understand how you can claim that the two issues (price and direct availability) are separate.

No, he’s saying that there are two separate issues the complaints are based on. Either your core complaint is the price of Silk, or your complaint is the direct availability of Silk.

So in the case of it being available – If you were given a direct source to farm Silk, but the price remained the same as it is, would you still complain?

The opposite would be – If the price were low, but you didn’t have a direct source to farm Silk, would you still complain?

I am prepping my house to sell so I can get married. I was busy stripping paint, removing wallpaper, patching walls, cleaning to prep for painting and changing air registers. Excuse me if Guild Wars was not on my mind.

I’m glad your life is so incredibly simple that you can think to yourself, daily, ‘oh yeah, let me log into Guild Wars real fast!’. Congratulations. The world doe snot revolve around you, though, no matter what you have been told.

  • If the wings were so important to you, you would have found time to log in.
  • If the game were so important to you, you would have been checking the GW2 homepage daily so you wouldn’t miss any news.
  • If real life is so important to you, then you shouldn’t be upset that you missed the opportunity to buy an item that will come out later on.
  • If the game “wasn’t on your mind” while you were attending your real life responsibilities, then congratulations, you set priorities to what’s truly important to you.

FYI – you aren’t the only one married, has a family, has a life, etc.

Mirta, you seem to miss the point: they released it for ONE DAY

Your whole ’you’d have to wait 6 months regardless’ stance is pointless. The fact is simple – ArenaNet pulled a stunt to milk habitual players for money and left the players with actual lives to live out in the cold. If they sold it for a week and people missed it then OK, I see how no one has room to whine but that’s not what happened.

The issue is not with whether we have to wait for a re-release of a skin or not, it’s with the marketing stunt that ArenaNet pulled specifically designed to milk money out of people and slap casual players in the face.

I think you missed the point that Anet is a for-profit business, and that marketing tactics like this are not unethical or predatory. The people who missed buying it would still not have it if Anet decided not to provide a 1 day preview event.

Let me ask a question, if you could farm silk specifically, but slowly, so the price remained what it currently is or higher, would that be better or worse?

Actually, with using the Karma armor forging trick (which Gaile confirmed with me as a legal method), you can farm specific cloth types all you want, albeit slowly. With this method, I’ve farmed hundreds of Cotton, Wool, and Linen scraps in the past week. A lot of people do this, and the price has remain pretty steady. The Supply kept pace with Demand. If Anet were to introduce even more ways to farm specific cloth materials, then we’d have an oversupply, and would have more of an impact on prices.

It will be permanent.

But the reason for time-limited sales is because they work. People feel rushed to buy stuff and they do it. It is simply good marketing.

That’s the kind of treatment I would expect from crappy freemium facebook games and not from an AAA MMORPG I actually bought and continued to support though.

Permanent? There’s no reason to limit this stuff, it’s not like there’s an actual supply that can run out or continuing to sell them would cost Anet extra.

the thing is, as stated, this is just a sneak preview. How do you know that it won’t be permanent?

Doesn’t matter… Why not sell them now? They are already made and in game. This is just some attempt to create artificial scarcity and get people to buy stuff out of fear it will be gone the next day.

The same question could be posed of Legendaries: Why not sell Twilight since it’s in game? The answer is – /Entitlement.

Marketing professionals do studies on the psychology of consumer spending habits. The formula roughly: Awesome item + limit time availability = $$$

Due to the short time frame allowed, you have to make a decision much quicker than if you had an infinite time to decide to buy it or not. Supermarkets do this with small or affordable items near the checkout stands. In this case, the item in question has massive appeal to a broad range of players, with a very affordable price tag.

Anet needs to do more of these sales.

With the new mechanic coming out, we definitely need some air combat in both PvE and PvP. Z-axis fighting is rare in MMOs, and would put GW2 on the map as the greatest game ever. Flying enemies like wyverns and dragons, or hostile players could engage in tactical fights. Losers would plummet to their deaths. Good times!!!

There can be different angles Anet could take this. An example would be similar to the mushroom bounce trait, where you could use airborne enemies as jumping pads. That would not only help you reach new heights, but it would also do damage to them (ala Mario Brothers). Maybe even advanced jumping puzzles that require guilds to use each other’s heads to boost a player to a ledge far out of reach from normal means (human pyramid).

Exactly where has it kept anything in check in this run away crazy train of an economy? Where? By your logic it would have corrected everything all by itself and there would have never been a need ever for their continued efforts of nerfing known places to farm items.

If DR did it’s job according to you, there would have never been any need.

The next myth you’ll tell us is that it’s prevented all chinese gold farmers from ever logging in. smh Amazes me what people believe sometimes.

It’s done 0 for the economy the economy was perfectly fine before two things happened to this game, the allowance for multiple accounts to end up with not one but multiple precursors during the island event without a rollback, and the creation of DR + the ongoing attacks against legit farmers.

That’s led to the type of economy and the TP centric nature of this game it’s not the other way around mate sorry.

1) DR puts caps on wealth gain from constant farming, it doesn’t eliminate it. It’s one of many things that helps keep the economy in check.

2) Gold farmers will always exist, so long as there are people willing to pay them for their services. They don’t log in not because of DR, but rather because GM Chris kills their accounts.

3) The Southsun Precursor fiasco is ancient history. Anet admitted it was a mistake to allow for such as event to run at a certain time, preventing all players from participating. Also, the Precusors that dropped broke the market for a short time. You could get good Precursors for 1/5 the price compared to now, but as you can see, the market has recovered. There was no need for a roll back, because the market self corrected. As John said, flippers help to bring prices to equilibrium faster.

4) The Trading Post is as much a part of this game as PvPing. Both take great skill to be good at. Top TP players are rich in game, and the top PvP players win riches in real life. If I were remotely good enough to have a chance at a share of $50,000 in prizes, you bet your dolyak that I’d be hyper focused on strategy in PvP. That same hyper focus leads to others with godly amounts of Gold.

You don’t have to be an expert to recognize a bad deal when you see one. No one does.

Again, that’s just a LACK of expertise and perspective that leads you to that conclusion. I can understand why expensive silk is a GREAT deal for people ingame. The challenge for the devs is to see ALL of those angles and choose the one that fits the game the best. This is not a black/white issue and the solution isn’t just some trivial change. There might not even be a solution if it’s not perceived as a problem for the devs. Think about that.

No it’s not it’s simple recognition of a bad deal. Quit trying to validate your point by making wild assumptions about people. It’s quite black and white. Every major MMO economy out there has displayed this kind of behavior until those other developers learned from experience what NOT to do. This is what NOT to do and Arenanet despite their immense experience as you like to call it, has had a history of doing what they shouldn’t be doing.

I suppose you’ll be telling us all next how much DR has helped the community, how DR the one thing that has destroyed whole MMO companies because it does exactly what it’s doing in this game (Creating unlucky accounts) is somehow a benefit too right? smh…. Cmon now, common sense please.

Wow. It’s ironic that you say DR destroys MMOs, when it’s one of the key mechanics that keeps inflation in check. You have no idea how bad this economy would be if I could farm the same amount of stuff 24/7, with no slow downs what-so-ever.

What does destroy MMOs are players who feel Entitled to getting the best stuff, when they want it. I would personally love it if I could get Dusk each time I threw in 4 rare Greatswords, or knew exactly how many tries it would take to guaranteed a drop. If we players got what we wanted all the time, this game would be dead within the first year. There’d be no replay value, much like using cheat codes on a single player game.

…the key to this is variety.

In other words, “more everything:”

And from all sources:

  • gem shop
  • RNG

I agree that more of all of the above is what we all want. But to zero in on the Gem Store, I would like to go shopping in a store with a lot of variety, not just a few Outfits here and there. Because not everyone has the same tastes in looks, more of all types of Outfits would work best. Ok, I’ll put it more simple. Anet designed the Silk sink because of two reasons:

1) Silk was abundant and useless initially. Changing bolt requirements from 2 to 3 helped to eliminate a lot of the excess.
2) Anet wanted to give crafters a way to make money. They knew the demand for Damask bolts would make them valuable, so keeping the requirements for cloth Ascended armor high would keep Damask pricey.

If the point is Cloth armor taking cloth, and Metal armor taking ingots, then yes, it’s a good design. If the point is player preference dictating which armor type your character uses, then it’s a matter of dice you rolled.

If you buy an electric car, but have no outlets in your garage to charge the vehicle, is the system of electric vehicles flawed?

Players have more demand for cloth materials than metal ones. Sure there are less faucets for cloth, but that makes sense. In a medieval period, harvesting crops, chopping trees, and mining metals would be a lot easier than to tan a cow’s hide. You can’t farm cloth as easily in the real world, but I sure can knock down that tree in my back yard, and make logs.

Cloth armor requiring cloth is not part of the design that is being questioned. Cloth armor requiring more cloth than metal armor requiring metal is the part of the design in question. Real world analogues are not particularly relevant for an MMO.

What if tomorrow, ANet flipped a switch and the current requirements for cloth and metal for ascended armor were switched? What would be the reason for such a change? The answer to that question is the kind of answer that folks are curious about regarding the current situation. That the difference has anything to do with whether metal or cloth is easier to farm in the real world seems extremely unlikely.

They knew the demand for Damask bolts would make them valuable, so keeping the requirements for cloth Ascended armor high would keep Damask pricey.

ps – I have close to 80 Lumps of Mithrillium just sitting around to prepare for such a time when I’ll need it. So if they flip the switch on something, I’m fully prepared for the shortages.

making money on crafting isnt about the minimum value of an item. Its about how much money you can make between the cost of materials, and the cost people are willing to pay for a finished product.

case in point, exalted doesnt really give more profit than nobles.

However, Ascended materials are really profitable if you sell the end products. Which is why Anet purposely made Damask valuable.

It’s an artificial scarcity created to serve a purpose. Dig through John’s posts from last year, and you’ll find the source of my info.

ps – I have close to 80 Lumps of Mithrillium just sitting around to prepare for such a time when I’ll need it. So if they flip the switch on something, I’m fully prepared for the shortages.

basically, in part to the price of silk, and the design of ascended crafting, cloth users have to work harder for the same results.

Is this a good design?

If you cared about the castle, you should defend it by building siege on walls, and have scouts ready to call for reinforcements should a zerg roll by.

See, t’was just a matter of time.

Is a system truly “flawed” if one person’s opinion says it is?

Honestly, I think it’s more along the lines of “working as intended”, because educated Devs designed it as suck, and constantly monitors it while making adjustments as needed.

did you mean such X_X

HAHAHAHA!!! Wow, worst typo EVER! I fixed it. Thanks for catching that one.

You shouldn’t be able to just set up 4 superior cats and melt reinforced walls of a keep in minutes, it just cheapens the entire experience. Even if you have people to defend you barely have enough time to set that defense up. I really wish this could be made more of an epic experience than just a constant game of keep/tower flipping.

In the real world, if invaders happen across an empty castle with no siege weapons, is it really unfair for them to take it with ease?

If you cared about the castle, you should defend it by building siege on walls, and have scouts ready to call for reinforcements should a zerg roll by.

My jaw dropped when I saw how many replies this post got. Most of them are pretty useless, which caters with an obsession toward wondering what type of person is so compelled to reply to every post like mine with the stock “your choice!” material.

I agree about the bandit collection. And, that one you can’t just buy on the TP.

I also appreciate the argument that the grawl reward is simply not high enough when compared to krait, hylek, and ogre.

As for those grinding the mats…I’m not convinced. I’m not unlucky. I would say it’s average. In two years, I’ve had some very cool drops such as an ascended staff with the stats I wanted. So, why only three large skulls in all of this time? Oh wait…I’m not killing enough grawl? Lol…it’s kinda’ hard to play every aspect of the game like I do and not kill your fair share of grawls. Ok, I don’t play the grawl fractal. So, are you saying that the vast majority of large skulls drop there? I’m just saying that if it takes three large skulls to craft one, and I’ve only obtained enough for one in two years…then either something is broken or the TP is flooded with duped god skull weapons, or the TP cost of both skulls and weapons should be much higher. Any other possibilities…constructive ones?

Over time, I’ve collected hundreds of skulls. Your problem is similar to killing tons of Skritt, and hoping for Karka Shells to drop. I think you’re just not playing the game right to maximize your material output. Once you learn how to play certain areas, you might have more luck getting the mats you need.
