You’re not included in the numbers because just as you said " I Play daily". this is about newer accounts who don’t play as often getting fantastic drops when they do. Why is it no one is understanding age problem isn’t about how many days you’ve had an account but hours played

So let me try to understand this theory. In order for me to be group in category of “lucky” accounts, I need to have the following:

  • An account I purchased in the past couple months
  • The account can’t be played daily, or must be played sparingly

If I meet these two criteria, then I’m guaranteed to get good drops on that account?

Except that hundreds of players all see the same pattern. 2 or 3 people out of countless of complaints on forums just means you haven’t experienced YET what too many others are complaining about.

I have two accounts that I play on daily. My main has had a lot of Precursor drops. My “newer” alt account has yet to see a Precursor drop. According to you and the “hundreds” of others, I should be getting a ton of stuff on my newer account, and less on my main. Am I the exception to your facts?

How does that explain why new younger accounts get better loot? RNG should be equal between accounts.

Because

RNG stands for Random Number Generator.

RNG does not guarantee that you’ll get what you want. Ever.

It’s Random.

Example: If you have two accounts, and both attempt to get loot that has a 5% chance to drop.

Account A – Does Silverwastes Vinewrath 50 times and gets a Beta Portal Drop.

Account B – Does Silverwastes Vinewrath the first time and gets a Beta Portal Drop.

Conclusion: Account B is not luckier than Account A. It’s simply RNG was favorable at that moment.

Edit – The problem here is that you’ll think Account B is eternally more lucky. This is where the bias comes in.

Proof
I play hours on end on main and get nothing. I log into my alt first time in 2 months, i get ascended chest and Dawn off Wurm, same day one after the other.

The only thing that proves is that RNG is working as intended.

I’ll quote myself to help you understand:

Statistics won’t mean kitten when things such as “% damage done to enemy” affects loot because that can be completely random and too difficult to measure consistently and reproduce. Its a fact that there is a problem and they don’t want to investigate because they want proof from us instead of being proactive and applying professional work ethics to their product. If I worked for Anet I would search for and provide the proof. We as players are providing more than enough for this specific problem.

The increasingly growing population of players who create new threads and describe this EXACT same thing should be enough for them to take action. beating a dead horse but that doesn’t take away the fact the horse is still there.

Are you basing your “facts” on your own personal observations of your own account? Or are you basing it off of viewing similar threads from other players? If so, these aren’t facts. They’re speculations based off of the misunderstanding of what RNG is. Again, you aren’t guaranteed anything you specifically want with drops.

Case in point – we all want Dusk, and it exists on the loot table, but that doesn’t mean we’ll all get it. If 10 people get a Dusk drop from loot chests or the MF, does that mean their accounts are luckier than the other 10,000 players trying for the same thing? No. It just means they’re luckier at that moment in time.

Asking Anet to justify your speculations isn’t going to work, especially when they’ve already confirmed that the OP is wrong.

Keep in mind this is mostly referring to LOOTED items. Not chests, forge, etc.
@Everyone
Why are you posting if your only going to argue the OP? You’re asking for “proof” of it but can you prove there isn’t something wrong? There are ALOT of people who experience this problem. And its amazing that so many people here will deny having not experienced it. If you can’t provide the evidence that it DOESN’T exist then you can’t deny it does. I play one account typically 12 + hours a day and my loot is worthless all day. I run around to most every dungeon, diff maps doing diff stuff, fotm, world bosses. SW… all on diff toons.. my loot is still all garbage.

I can get onto my alts and farm for a couple hours and get plenty of rares and a couple exotics. So far Alt #2 loot hasn’t diminished since i got him and it about 800 hours now. Alt #3 is the same; 200 hours and still great loot. it’s enough to make me want to stop playing my main. But no need because I multibox.

All of you that believe everything is perfect and works how you’re told Gullible

I’ll give you a quick rundown of the current conversation:

  • Player – Something’s wrong because one account has better RNG than others.
  • Me – RNG doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed a drop.
  • Anet – No account is luckier than another. Each account has the same base chance to get drops from the loot table.
  • Player – Show me proof that I’m not unlucky. I want to see data to prove I’m wrong.
  • Other players – /deadhorse.gif

As John Smith said many moons ago, we players need to first show there’s an existing problem before coming up with solutions. You don’t come up with solutions first, then go hunting for the problem.

Right now, people only feel there’s a problem, because they’re not getting what they want. In this case, I use the term Entitlement to describe the on-going issue.

[Suggestion] WvW IP Crawler to catch griefers

in WvW

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

One of the many problems we have in WvW are people with multiple accounts using their Alts to sabotage enemy server. While these things a mostly just an irritant to some, it can have major effects on serious WvW game play. In my other thread, I brought up the issue with using Alt accounts to artificially queue the opponent’s BL or EBG. Other people have brought up Alts “tag watching” to get opponent positions on the map.

These issues can be hard for GMs to police, since it’s hard to prove based off of player reporting. Well, why not have a back end tool that tracks all IPs logged in, and automatically detect the same IP logged in with multiple servers. The program would work like a Web Crawler, collecting internal data of players’ IPs in WvW, and then post an alert for Anet when the same IP appears on different servers in a WvW match. When the alert goes off, the current GM could target the individual and kick one of the Alt accounts off the server’s BL.

Why are they sitting at spawn when they could be depleting supplies by building random trebs, catas, and rams inside the enemy keeps, à la Far Hackerpeaks?

We had a guy doing this on TC, and Prohealz gave him a 2 week suspension. That’s why it’s safer just to AFK at spawn, since it’s harder to prove spying or griefing.

Right now the only way to get a GM to remove someone is to A) report that person, or PM a GM in-game, and hope he catching them doing something wrong at that moment. With reporting, you can’t just report someone without a reason, or you can get in trouble for false reporting. So the only way we can do this is PMing GMs if they’re online.

~~~ snip ~~~
You do realize that bring up the same debunked discussions over and over won’t change the answers that have been given, right? Allow me to help you out:
I am inclined to agree. It has been far too reliably observable by too many players to not warrant suspicion.
Seriously, again, this isn’t a thing.
At the heart, there’s 3 basic options:
1. Mostly RNG
2. No RNG
3. Hyrbid RNG (where most games are)
starter concepts for cons of each system:
1. Many players can feel like they have “bad luck”, in fact players with standard to pretty good luck are still likely to feel bad because of how humans interpret data.
2. A completely predictable experience lacks moments when something fantastic happens.
3. You run the risk of getting the cons of both systems without very precise design
An important question may be to ask if a model is still a good concept and a great implementation just needs to be focused on or if the model doesn’t work fundamentally.
Absolutely it does not use anything to do with a user.
People actually waste money and time to do this ? LMFAO !
And that’s the inherent problem. You don’t want to report someone if they’re legitimately AFK. One way we used to check for spies when I played on Maguuma was to add a person, and look at their Achievement Points. If it was low, we knew someone was tag/map watching.
2 v 1 isn’t “fair”, but it’s part of the game mode when you have 3 different servers on the same map. Having alt accounts just sit in a server’s map to take up queue space is something completely different. That led to my question to see if it’s an offense than a GM can kick someone from the map. I know GM Chris did this to AFKers in PvE when we had the hostage rescue map challenge from last year.
Raising the cap for the home BL isn’t fair for the other 2 servers. With this new problem in WvW, I think we should be allowed to report AFKers, and then the GMs can run an IP check to see if multiple accounts are running on rival BLs. If a GM sees the same IP on different servers, both in WvW, then they should kick one of them out.
Alt Abuse in BL
in WvW
Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294
Smooth Penguin.5294
This was a topic in Mumble recently, and I wanted to get the WvW community’s opinion on it. There are reports that certain server’s players are purchasing new alt accounts when there’s the 75% off sale, and placing these accounts on rival servers (when a slot opens up). At peak NA hours, the players log into their Alt accounts, and queue up opponent BLs by camping their alts at spawn.
Question here: Does Anet consider this to be an actionable offense?
The way I see it, artificially inflating an opponent’s queue to prevent backup defense is match manipulation. However, such an act is hard to prove or report on, since we don’t know the intention of said players AFKing at spawn. They could be legitimate players on a restroom break, or stepping away to get a drink. I don’t want to report players like this because Anet also punishes for false reporting.
Double spiking is pretty powerful. A max Mesmer clone shatter x 2 would be enough to being any group down. In GW1 HoH, nearly all our builds had some type of coordinated spike. Disclosure – This is not a complaint thread, but rather a discussion topic
With the latest news that the Chronomancer class is being brought back, there are shockwaves of joy from fellow GW1 players who waited for GW:Utopia. But with all that joy for this new Mesmer specialization, comes some hesitation.
Time Control -
This feature seems a bit too overpowered for competitive play. WvW and SPvP players already have their hands full facing Mesmers. Clone spamming, stealth, crowd controls, etc. We’ve come up with counters to all of them. But being frozen in time without the ability to Stun Break? The only counter to that would be to keep your distance and avoid the spell completely.
Then Chronomancers have the ability to reverse time, allowing fatal blows to be negated. Does this mean that they can pick themselves up from being downed/defeated? Or how about falling off a cliff, will the Chronomancer fly back upwards at the end of the skill? Last but not least, the ability to double cast high cool down skills or even reduce the cool down timer for skills.
While all these sound epic, I’m asking the Devs to consider how this will affect the meta for WvW and SPvP. If a Chronomancer will be able to manipulate time and get access to powerful mechanics, I hope there’ll be some drawbacks to balance out it’s usage. There doesn’t seem like many ways to counter the control of time, except for really high cool downs or major drawbacks to prevent constant use.
Sounds interesting but I have a concern with the “exclusively from PvE chests”. PvP and WvW should have access to it too.
PvP has a similar reward already in place – the Glorious Armor, although these are pieces, and not Outfits. WvW has nothing. If anything, PvE and WvW getting a unique Outfit drop in each game mode would be nice. That way, each game mode offers a unique look for those choose to farm it.
Anet said that you’d have a rare chance to get them. Rare does not mean guaranteed to drop for everyone in the first few hours of an event that spans a week’s time.
When you approach RNG with the mindset that you’re entitled to a certain drop, the only thing you’re guaranteed to get is disappointment. I suggest just thinking about the normal chest loot from SW farming. That way, should you get a portal drop, it’ll feel so much better as a surprise.
[Idea] RNG Outfits
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294
Smooth Penguin.5294
Being a supporter of Anet’s Outfit skins and RNG system, I had the craziest idea for new content. What if Anet introduced some outfits that a chance to drop exclusively from PvE chests? We already have this by way of unique skins, such as Tequatl weapons, Wurm armor, and the retired Jetpack skin. The next step to this could be adding full outfits instead of just armor pieces.
I love outfits, because they’re not limited by armor weight class. My female charr Ranger is able to wear a super sexy light armor inspired Exemplar outfit. My human female Warrior can wear epic medium armor inspired Shadow Assassin outfit. Anet should consider bringing out more Outfits, such as a cheerleader type or Japanese school seifuku type, because variety is king.
On an economic note, such drops shouldn’t be lock by Account Bound limits. Allow them to be sold on the TP, so those who don’t like RNG can have the guaranteed* chance to get them buy purchasing from other players (*should they have the Gold available). Doing this gives the item value, thus making them more attractive to own or trade.
New specializations locked behind gem store?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294
Smooth Penguin.5294
From the Specializations news page: “As long as you’ve purchased Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, you’ll automatically unlock access to all elite specializations in PvP.”
This means that the playerbase will be divided in those who won’t be able to use specializations (aka those who didn’t purchase HoT) and those who can. My fear is that in the future, after the first set of specializations will be released, they will make the new ones a gem store purchase.
How would you react if this is the case? Personally I think it would be a shame for them to keep gameplay mechanics not available for everyone. Like you go in wvw or pvp and find yourself against people running new builds and that you can’t play. As it is now, only quality of life upgrades (bank space) and aesthetics items were put in the gem store.
Asking for access to all new expansion skill content, Revenant, and new map without buying HoT is like asking for access to Cantha without buying the Faction expansion in GW1. The simple solution to this is to buy the expansion.
Anet isn’t forcing you to get the expansion. You can still enjoy the game as it is. Forever and ever. With no subscription fees.
Mini Llama Discussions
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294
Smooth Penguin.5294
This has been bugging me all weekend, so I wanted to start an open discussion with my fellow forum warriors. The best mini of all time, the llama, is only offered to top ranking SPvP players. There are many opportunities to get one, as there’s tournaments all the time. However, the latest update to the mini now requires you to have 27 or 28 of them before you get the Lavish Llama.
I’m a decent PvPer, but I’m not even in the top 500. My buddy Zilent, however, is one of the best PvPers in the world, being ranked #4 out of millions. So I may never see a single llama, while Zil will get dozens of llamas by the end of this year. That’s the huge problem, as two of my loves are penguins and llamas/alpacas (I count them as the same glorious being). Since I can’t have a mini penguin, I must aim for the llama. I feel that there should be more options to getting this awesome mini than just winning matches.
What do you guys think? I know there are mini collectors who would love to get a llama for their collections. There are others who just love llamas because they’re llamas. Should Anet consider non-tourney related ways to share the llama love to more people than just PvPers?
My personal opinion is that Anet should sell the mini in the Gem Store. I’d be willing to pay 2,000 Gems per, just so I can get my Lavish Llama. That’s 56,000 Gems that people like me would buy for 28 of them! The revenue stream from the Gem Store would break the NCSoft charts. Or heck, put it in the BL Chest, and I’ll buy hundreds of BL Keys. Maybe add them as drops for WvW Keep/SM claiming?
I’m sure they have a list of IPs that are commonly used by RMT employees. That’s just one way they look at accounts before banning. Now, if you buy gold from an RMT, they’ll probably just delete the gold, meaning you lost real money used to pay the RMT company (that you’ll probably never get back from your bank). Different strokes for different folks, In my opinion it does not fit the theme of the Charr. But hey I don’t have to look at it or the big anime eyes.
Who are we (humans) to questions the likes and dislikes of another race? In the past, female charr had to endure the pains of wearing male outfits. Anet has slowly been introducing gender specific outfits that accentuate the delicate curves of a beautiful girly charr. Now they can go out on dates to the Dead End bar without having to look like they’re out on Warband duty.
As a male IRL, I applaud Anet for their openness to equality for our furry, non-human friends. My wife concurs.
Anet has done it. THE best outfit a female charr could ask for. Not only is this outfit sexy, but it adds a whole new dimension for the charr roleplaying community. What better to wear to attract that handsome human thief you’ve had your eyes on?
The details on this outfit show that the artist responsible has incredible taste. In fact, the details on the underwear and stockings were a bonus when I angled my camera low. Someone needs to send the Dev some cookies for designing this.
Anyone else has epic pictures of their charr in the Exemplar outfit?
All shall be forgiven if you can pass that WvW achievement nudge onto the right people though? right….right?! 1,000,000 objectives is probably even more madness than 27 llamas :/
Hmmm, the Lavish Llama will now require 1,000,000 Mini Llamas.
Thanks a lot Ziet….
There’s already a sticky, as well as posts by Gaile about this. There’s no need constantly spam these topics in new threads.
Beetle Mounts confirmed for HoT?
So from the recent posts here, we can speculate that Anet might be testing a new Mount system, where our avatars are replaced by a new model, akin to how Golem mounts work in WvW?
I approve of this testing!
Golems do not use player models
I mentioned that our avatars are replaced, similar to how mounting a Golem works in WvW. That mechanic is already in the game for WvW, so moving it to PvE is only a few codes away from happening.
Edit – It worked that way in GW1 too, when you mounted a Siege Devourer or Rollerbeetle.
Edit 2 – I would love to mount a quaggan, and ride it like a dolphin.
