Sorry Penguin, it sounds like you and the rest just had a spot of bad luck. Maybe someone didn’t blast a fire field, or a few crits didn’t go off for that last push across the finish line.
It sucks, but “0.005%” is pretty darn good.If you had said that you and the other Teq Vets were only able to get Teq down to second battery phase, I would then be in complete agreement with you. Soren, and the rest know their stuff.
If any player’s could kill the new and improved super-mega Teq, it’s you folks.
*sans exploits/bugs, of course. You guys will figure it out in time. That I’m sure.
It felt like the time when we were racing to be the first to kill the Great Wurm.
I’m not used to failing, esp. with pro players like TTS. The mechanics were sound. People did their jobs. I’m sure it’s Teq’s fault. Soren never fails us.
What were the tactics used? Was the zerg all stacked in one location or spread out with ranged attackers doing their own thing?
Same tactics we always use. Commander Kenage stacks zerg, turrets keep zerg buffed, defense teams clear mobs, and ERT clear claws.
I can’t blame all the dead pugs who won’t WP, because we can normally kill Teq with no problem even with those players.
EG killed teq last night. Still had 6+ minutes left. No problem. Still mechanics used.
Like I said, we don’t use exploits. We don’t use 40 Guardians and their endless stacks of 4,000% DPS.
I tear through salvage kits way too fast!!
And no I will not buy the copper fed kit.
You described your problem, and rejected the obvious solution all in one breath. Gem Store items are meant to convenience. You seem to desire said convenience, but aren’t willing to pay the price.
To use a real world analogy, it’s like saying you have an addiction to gambling and are seeking help, but you won’t stop gambling.
If the community didn’t already know, SoR guild Gaiscioch [GSCH] regularly hosts a double Teq nite on Mondays and Wednesdays. Current and former TTS members all partake in this event because it’s led by our former glorious TTS leader Soren Ironclaw. With hundreds upon hundreds of Teq kills, you can say we’re pretty much experts on this event. We never cheat or use exploits to down Teq. Ever. GM Chris can verify this claim, as we discovered and reported major bugs and exploits to him and his team in the past.
I say all these things above because I’m about to /rant, and don’t want people to think that this is a L2P issue. With all our experience and map coordination, last nite we failed Teq by 0.005% HP, for the 2nd kitten time in the past week or so. Failing is one thing, but to fail when there’s practically nothing on Teq’s HP bar is another. Teq is broken. Doubling his HP was just too much. Penguin is sad.
Huzzah! Got 800 Gems deposited into my account. Had to have my ticket escalated to GM King, so thank you Mr. GM of the Year!
Not sure how this will work going forward, as GM King confirmed with me that their policy of refunds just changed, so I think we got our requests in at the right time.
You have more chances to turn 100 Gold into 25 Gold. I’m guestimating the chances of you turning 100 Gold into 500 Gold at 5%.
I maxed out the Legendary Tarrktun Supporter achievement with spending 10,000 Gold and 25,000 Ecto. I think I’m down 1500 Gold in total after all that.
Could be land spear too
Land Spear for the Land Shark?
I saw this on Reddit, and had to comment here. What are the chances that the Thief’s Specialization will be a Staff Monk??? I mean, the Ranger will already be getting the staff, but this picture that was datamined makes me curious. I was thinking it might be a rifle, but my hope is that with the Monk outfit coming soon, the Thief will turn into a melee staff tank. The Monkey King already has the hand-held staff animations, so we know it’s already coded into the game. All they need to do is apply the animations to a Thief, then you have yourself a Kungkittenmaster!!!
Instead of getting a Royal or Airship pass, the cheap alternative is to go to your borderland’s Garrison, and use the Merchant, Banks, and Forge there. You can go to WvW anywhere in the world, as long as you’re out of combat. If you need to craft, you can either pop a guild crafting station (for 1 hour) or go to Citadel.
Just remember to leave if the WvWers are fighting. In times of emergencies, we need all non-combat players to leave map.
Look at the silver lining in this situation. Full map queues and blob fights just means this game is alive and well! Yay Anet!
This thread’s title was changed to “4 shotted”. That means there’s no issue, since the damage was spread across multiple hits. Now it’s just a L2P issue of using evades and stun breaks.
Miku. After a lot of back and forth with Anet, here’s what happened. They denied my request, as expected, and then I referenced your exception for a refund. The GMs told me that you only got a refund because you purchased an extra character slot along with the Ultimate edition. You were to have 3 new character slots: 1 from the loyalty bonus, 1 from the Gem Store, and 1 from the Ultimate bundle.
To calm things down, I would like to state for the record that I’m in a traditional marriage. And let me tell you, marriage isn’t all rainbows and unicorns that I was falsely led to believe in the movies.

I think Gaile needs to close this thread. The OP is getting ripped apart in the responses to his thread.
BTW – the issue of same-sex marriage is no longer a political issue. It’s a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution, as per the SCOTUS decision.
What’s the point in increasing Condi effectiveness, if you’re just buffing boss HP? I enjoyed doing the Claw of Jormag in two cycles. 5 minute kill instead of 30 minutes was a nice mechanic.
I was having issues using the in-game store to purchase my Ultimate edition. I got around that by buying it from the website instead.

Hey ANET, so I was thinking, instead of a character slot or silly skins, how about you offer your players freaking working servers! There’s more than 3 years after release and players still get random disconnects out of the blue!
- 95% VW, bam DC!
- 2 mins until Teq, bam DC!
- 10 secs until Teq dies, bam DC!
- almost completed a hard kitten story achiev, bam DC!And no, it’s not my PC or my internet connection. Played WoW for years, Battlefield, GTA 5, etc without a single connection problem., it’s always GW2 that kitten s. And it wouldn’t be that big of an issue if the “smart” megaserver system wouldn’t change the map instance after relog.
Sorry for the rage, but this is unacceptable for a MMO in 2015.
You should reboot your router by unplugging it for a few minutes. That’ll solve your DC problems.
I’m referring to this: https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/614560129573351424
Please remember that a very large portion of your player base doesn’t agree with the court’s decision today.
I think you missed the part where a majority of Americans are now more supportive of same sex marriage than previously. That’s why, as an inclusive American company, Anet shared their support for the Supreme Court’s decision.
If you’re not happy with it, simply close the browser tab that shows the tweet. No one’s forcing you to view a picture of two male in-game characters at the wedding chapel.
Customer Service has been really good lately. Someone responded to my ticket within 20 minutes, and now I’m being transferred over to a Game Support Team member.

If Anet had an opening in their Marketing area, and would be willing to pay me a comparable salary that the government currently does, I’d quit my job and move to Seattle in a heartbeat. I’d even consider cheering on the Seahawks instead of the 49ers. Before Anet releases new products, I could be the voice of reason on how players would respond.
#ColinHireMe
Thank you Peter for explaining this to the OP. Both were “Captains”, but only Evon is the best charr for the job. I can only hope there’s a new election, so we can kick Kiel to the curb, and Evon can take his rightful seat.
Thanks so much Miku. I’m in the exact same boat as you, since I got the White Wings as well. Of course Anet needs to look at everyone on a case by case basis. I’m going to try my luck and report back. Hopefully JT will have good luck with his ticket as well.
Hopefully Miku can clarify what his situation was when he got his 800 Gems.
Because this request probably has to go up the chain of command in Customer Service, I’m going to submit a request and hope for a good result. If it’s true that Anet refunded 800 Gems in exchange for deleting 1 of the 2 extra slots, they’ll go down in history as being one of the most responsive and caring MMO companies ever!
Until rainbow dye is programmed, start messing around with different patterns on our armor pieces. Then we can run around LA and spread the love.
As George Takei put it…
Wait wait wait wait wait. You’re telling me that Anet is in fact exchanging the extra character slot for 800 Gems? Please tell me you’re not trolling, as I’m about to soil myself from happiness.
I have a ticket in process for the same thing. The last email I got was they need to send it to someone else for review. I updated the ticket with a link to the posts showing others have gotten 800 gems to replace the unwanted extra slot. I’ll update and post a screen cap of the email when I hear back.
I think I need to lie down. Or maybe just go and cook dinner while I wait for your (hopefully) good post.
To get things back on track, I feel I need to point out that while one single non-storyline NPC doesn’t seem like a big deal, the fact that Anet took the idea and put it in game is like tipping your hat to the community. Straight people like me will never fully understand what it’s like to be treated like a side show or a second-class citizen. One that is forced to hide or just not be open about their lifestyle choice, for fear of resentment. But while I can’t imagine being in their shoes, I can appreciate the fact that they do have a much harder life, and showing them respect is the least I can do to make them feel better.
It is “brave” of someone to be open about being an LBGT. The world as a whole, today, isn’t used to them, even though society in the days of the Romans, and even Asian cultures like the Samurai of Japan were more open to homosexuality or a man living as a woman. It wasn’t deemed “evil” or “wrong” until more modern times. But times change, and the more open we can be about topics like this (without the toxic hate), the closer we can be to a society that doesn’t see them as abnormal.
“Hello ,
As a general rule, we are not able to offer a gem refund. However, in this case, we were able to refund 800 gems and they have been added to your account. Please check your gem balance for confirmation.
We cannot guarantee that a similar refund will be possible in the future, so please exercise care when conducting all your gem transactions.

Wait wait wait wait wait. You’re telling me that Anet is in fact exchanging the extra character slot for 800 Gems? Please tell me you’re not trolling, as I’m about to soil myself from happiness.
Society as a whole is becoming more accepting of LBGT. It helps that popular celebrities are coming/came out. When you’re accepting of your favorite celebrity, be or Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGeneres, or Caitlyn Jenner, it’s a lot easier to accept their lifestyle.
I already feel there should be on that did the reverse of the one we have now. I mean – why not? Why have just one type? Let’s have all the types – for equality’s sake. Nobody is more important after all.
If we have one NPC going from guy to girl – why not have the opposite as well? Once we have it we can look to broaden our scope of unique NPCs.
You can’t walk a mile without taking that first step. The fact that Anet did this speaks volumes.
It’s more about being inclusive, and showing support in a subtle way. Anet isn’t pushing it down our throats. They have an NPC with dialogue that indicates that she used to be known as a he. If a player doesn’t like it due to whatever religion they follow in real life, it can be simply ignored. Just like how I don’t like Fractals anymore, so I no longer do them.
Now if a player(s) chooses to focus on this NPC, that’s up to them. Knowing that this character exists doesn’t change the overall MMO experience of killing dragons. Yet a small addition like Sya to the lore of Tyria can mean the world to a player who can relate to her identity/lifestyle.
We should mail cookies and other stuff to Anet to thank them for being a wonderful company. I’ve sent them chocolates from Hawaii, and another person sent them a cake. Food makes the Devs work extra hard! Here’s the address:

No that implies that Kasmeer is a transgender too! Rejoice!
That puts the Mini Southsun Kasmeer into a whole new perspective!
(edited by Smooth Penguin.5294)
Yep, that’s basicly my point in asking that question.
A-net would most likely NOT have used the character slot in this way had the announcement of the loyalty slot come first or at the same time. Deceptive marketing is frowned upon most of the time.
Yep, I won’t quit if nothing happens, I just wish A-net would at least offer an apology to the people that may feel cheated or tricked by this.
I don’t feel that it was deceptive. Having a Business/Marketing degree, I’ve learned of far far far worse practices. A ballpark selling a medium drink that’s short and wide, and a large drink that’s tall and skinny, but having the same net weight in both is deceptive. Offering a premium package by bundling attractive products is just a tactic to appeal to impulse buyers. Seeing how much more you can get over the stander version offsets the price difference psychologically.
BUT, that doesn’t mean that someone won’t feel “cheated” by what happened. Personally, I feel the value of my Ultimate changed, thus the reason why I offered an idea to make up for it. I’ll be perfectly fine if Anet never considers my suggestion.
Even if it’s a Mesmer illusion, that still counts as something. Look at transgender people in real life. They’re living life as the opposite gender, while remaining biologically the gender they were born with. A man who grows his hair long, wears makeup and a dress, is still a man. But he now identifies as a “she”, and can legally (depending on the State) be recognized as female.
If Kasmeer can run around without clothes, only sporting her illusion, then it should be ok for Sya.
Bottom line, even though trolls got my original thread closed, Anet listened and heard my pleas to make my LGBT friends feel more welcome to this game. I’m now going to get more friends into GW2 by sharing this. I know of no other MMO that is so open to homosexual and transgender storylines. Colin and his team has outdone themselves!
how do you know a net went for the tne transgender route? it could easily be a genderswap.
Did you read the text in the 2nd pic above you?
Going to keep copying this at the bottom of my posts…
“As I’ve asked before, Does anyone actaully believe A-net would have included or used the inclusion of an extra character slot in the deluxe/ultimate edition as a hook to get people to buy if they had also announced the plan to give away a loyalty character slot with all pre-orders?”
Yes I believe it was a simple marketing tactic to include the additional slot bundled with the Deluxe and Ultimate. The slot and other fluff goodies are there to entice players to purchase the higher end options. This, however, is not the problem. Offering better quality product options is simply business.
The loyalty gift was decided after the complaints went mainstream. Anet didn’t know people would be mad that no extra slot was offered with the standard version. The respond to all Vet players was good, in my opinion.
The problem is that some players will feel cheated because the initial offer of the Deluxe and Ultimate had the extra slot as part of the deal (at the time). Players took the value of the bundle into consideration on getting just the Standard edition, or getting the Deluxe/Ultimate. The value changed once the free slot was given to all Vets who get HoT.
Again, Anet did good by offering something to the Veteran players. But for players who already spend a lot of money buying extra slots over the past 3 years, getting an extra 2 is not needed. Thus my suggestion that Anet offer an option for something else in exchange. This isn’t one of those “I’ll quit if I don’t get my way” rage threads. This is a civil debate requesting Anet consider the feelings of the loyal players who purchased the pre-order while the vocal minority was complaining.
Anet pulled through, and introduced a transgender NPC into the game! A big Thank You to Colin for showing love to my LGBT friends.
Aid Worker Sya, formerly know as Symon. Tyria took one step closer to equality for all!
Now that does feel like entitlement. I payed more to be a VIP, I don’t want those dirty regular edition peasants to have a slot like me! :p
I’m not too sure you understand what Entitlement means, mate. I’m not asking for something for nothing. I paid $100 for the Ultimate based on the deal at the time. They’re offering 2 character slots now, which is one more than I need or wanted. All I ask is that we get an option to choose something else that we can use. I’ve paid enough real money for extra character slots in these past 3 years. If they never offered the character slot on any HoT edition, I would simply delete a character and use that.
They could make a grab bag type of item, which could be mailed to all Deluxe and Ultimate pre-order players. Double click on it, and it could give you an option of one more character slot, 800 Gems, or maybe some BL Keys. Something like that.
These days people want everything on a silver plate. It’s so mind bogling….
The difference here is that I paid for that silver plate.
A lot of the counter arguments are missing the main point. We technically paid for a VIP edition of the game, and due to other complaints, Anet changed the product after we paid for it. Had Anet just offered the extra character slot from the beginning, there wouldn’t be an issue. Why? Because the product offerings would most likely have been different than offering 2 character slots for Deluxe/Ultimate.
Some must like having 2 character slots. Some don’t. I already paid for enough character slots to satisfy my gaming needs. I’ve got enough alts, thank you. So by offering an extra slot that I don’t need on top of the one that I already paid for with Ultimate, the value of what I initially thought was a great value went down by $10 or 800 Gems worth. That’s my take.
Others who might not care for the extra slots are the ones who felt cheated. They paid for Deluxe on the idea that only that tier and up had the extra slot that they already needed. That was their main draw to those deals. The extra they’re paying is for the slot, mini, finisher and other fluff of Deluxe, and the 4k Gems of the Ultimate. The whole draw to Deluxe/Ultimate changes because the draw of the slot is gone.
@Smooth Penguin
Out of interest, had the new deal been in place from the beginning, giving you the HoT upgrade, 2x Character Slots, Mini, Finisher, Decoration, Glider Skin and 4000 gems for $99.99, would you not have bought it?
I most likely would have bought it, no question. The difference here is that I would have had the opportunity to see the deal fully, rather than see the deal changed after I paid my $100. But that’s just me. There are those who saw the extra character slot as the deal that enticed them to buy the Deluxe or Ultimate editions.
No. Being a vet, being a new player, pre-ordering the ultra super special edition, having a name that starts with the letter C, etc. None of that makes anyone’s opinion matter more than anyone else’s. You can voice your opinion all you want, but it won’t make it any more important or valid than someone with an opposing view on things.
Actually, speaking from a business perspective, customers who pay a premium for goods tend to be treated better than everyday customers. For example, First Class tickets on an airline can cost thousands of dollars more than Coach. By paying for that extra, you’re treated to better food, more comfortable seats, etc.
For Ultimate players, we paid a premium for the best deal out of the options available. The cost was double over what the standard edition went for. The change in Anet’s offers affected the value of the previous deal.
we should have the option to retain the value we saw in the original offer.
If you never use the second character slot you will have exactly the same value as you had previously. The power is yours.
No. The value changed, because now everyone gets a free slot, including me. I now have 2 extra slots due to Ultimate. I don’t want 2 slots. The extra slot that won’t be used brings down the value of the original deal. In light of this, a goodwill gesture of replacing that with more Gems would go far in my books.
I think people need to understand something here. We Deluxe and Ultimate players are the ones whose opinion should matter more. We’re the ones who purchased the high tier editions without complaining, because we saw value in the deals offered. Now that we’ve already spent our money on the editions, and Anet went and offered more freebies to everyone else, it feels like we’re getting our deals nerfed.
What Anet did was a good compromise, no doubt about it. Vet players who purchased the standard version, or who will be purchasing the standard version, will get the extra slot free. It’s a fabulous deal for this. But we paid 50% to 100% more than the players who got/are getting the standard edition, and thus if you change the value of the original deal after the purchase was made, we should have the option to retain the value we saw in the original offer.
If Anet were to just refund me $10, I’ll go and buy $10 worth of Gems with it. But due to how banking works, it’ll cost a lot of money to process those refunds, so it’s more cost efficient just credit me with Gems and take away 1 of my 2 extra slots.
Keep what you have and get those goodies and ignore the 2nd extra chr slot.
GG
Not sure if you fully understand the thread. Why should I ignore the extra character slot that I had already gotten initially? Anet gave every Vet who pre-orders HoT an extra slot, thus we Deluxe and Ultimate get 2 extra now. That wasn’t the original deal, but they had to do something because a lot of people complained. Anet tried to make it fair for everyone who didn’t purchase the pre-order, and in doing so, made it unfair to those of us who bought the high tier editions.
You got an extra character slot worth $10 free, unexpectedly. That’s hardly losing value, unless you’re the sort that complains whenever you get free items after you purchase something. (I bet this character trait makes birthdays and Christmas interesting at your house).
I’ll ignore the rest of your post, as you clearly are assuming way too much of my posts.
As I stated previously, I don’t need 2 extra slots. I only needed the single one that the Ultimate offered. Going off of this, that’s why I suggested that we (who purchased Deluxe or Ultimate before today) get an option for the Gem equivalent instead of the extra slot. I even said I’d settle for 1/2 the Gem value of an extra slot. Then we’ll still have the 1 extra slot, and the added value of the extra Gems to make our purchases worth investing much more than the $50 standard price.
Then are you claiming that, had they offered the free character slot initially, that you would not have purchased the deluxe or ultimate editions?
Not at all. The original deal came with an additional slot already, thus the value of said deals were based on that slot. Had the slot not been offered, the price of Deluxe and Ultimate would probably have been 800 Gems different. Maybe we would have been offered 4800 Gems instead for $100.

Um no.
I dont want or need an extra character slot. I deleted toons because Anet screwed us over with Ascended, so I have loads spare. But I don’t agree with any ‘gem equivalent’.
People got what they asked for, leave it at that.
^ this. I bought the ultimate, I now have 3 unused slots + a beta. That’s fine. you’re all getting what you asked for.
How are you getting 3 extra slots? Each edition gets one additional slot, and the Deluxe and Ultimate editions already have a slot, so anyone who purchased the Deluxe or the Ultimate editions have 2 additional alots. (Unless you used the gems to buy yourself another slot or two.)
He deleted a toon previously (1 slot unused), then bought Ultimate (1 slot), and now we’re all getting an extra slot (1 slot). So now he’ll have 3 unused slots.
