Again, if they do bring the vendors back what happens to the people that read the official message about the vendor being gone and deleted their items? Now you have a whole new group of people unhappy. At some point Anet has to say this is what it is and I think they have already.
This kind of reminds me of the Dragon Bash fireworks event for getting those helms. After the event ended people started complaining, “But I didn’t know,” or “I wasn’t paying attention to the news.” They asked for the fireworks to happen again to please them for their lack of paying attention. The thing with that was people that did make the event went out of their way to make sure they were there. The people that missed it said things similar to this situation, “What would it hurt to add more firework events?” Well because people that made sure to be there for the event and spent hours to achieve it would feel angry as well if they did the event again to please those that didn’t make the effort. Adding more fireworks later would have devalued the effort of those that made the event.
This in my mind is a no turning back scenario because if they bring the vendors back they are going to bring along a whole group unhappy because they deleted their items based on official word from Anet.
Quoting for truth.
I don’t believe that this is against the rules. They just don’t want the game being played by macro. In other words, they don’t want people to perform skill chains with the push of a single button. What you are looking to do (open up bags, consume consumables, etc.) is harmless. Holding down the button for the duration or repeatedly clicking the button for the same duration, does it really matter? Does it give you an unfair advantage? I don’t think so.
Gaile has confirmed that this is against the rules. If I fine her post, I’ll edit this comment.
Edit – see here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first#post1532762

hmm, so must be 1 click but i can set the button in a way that if i hold it it will repeat the click?
1 click = 1 action. By holding down the button, and having the program auto repeat it, you are doing 1 click = 250 actions.
The rule of thumb is: 1 click = 1 action
If your autoclicker is 1 click = 250 actions, that’s breaking the rules, thus a ban.
I hate the current punishing of melees in this game. Since i play mostly open world PVE this goes to those guys who do design such things.
The great jungle wurm is pretty anti-melee with its fears and its push mechanics. Its just frustrating to keep getting pushed back and re-run towards that thing for 15min.
Champion ancient rotting oakheart. How many times does it push you back every 5s or something like that.
Or another world event: The inquest golem mark II. Overpowered electric fields depending on the profession and its health. While the golems gun does not scratch you at all as a heavy. If you are in melee you may get thrown into those electric fields while the ranged gets tossed further away.
Now it wouldn’t be a problem if ranged would get punished as well. And mostly these guys stay in a save spot far away and do their damage. Sure as a guardian or a warrior you can roll ranged as well with all the benefits but is that good game design? Its like: Okay i now that foe i have to stay away or i can go all in. Risen priest of melandru to add one to the list. Or the high priestress of dwayna. At melee you won’t see the animation of dwayna due to the effects going on and at ranged you can rather easily dodge your way out of it.
So how to solve it? Reduce the frequency of punishing the melee. And add punishing to the ranged as well.
Here’s my solution as an example how it could be done:
The golem mark II could activate a shield returning all ranged damage. So you have to go in melee as well. After that electric fields will activate so you have to get away. There should be more dynamic in those fights. Why not spam some adds or champions as well?
I think this is a Learn 2 Play issue. Guild Wars 2 is more of an anti hack & slash game. You need to understand combat mechanics to do well. If all you do is rush in, and ignore the big orange circles of the Great Wurm, 10 times out of 10 you will drop.
Wait… why the hate? They’re a cute couple.
“You’re a big stupid brute, Braham! I like you.”
“Uh-huh.”……Uh huh. Hehe.
Inter-racial love is splendid! I would love to see a Braham x Taimi story. Just like I’m hoping for Logan x Rytlock.

Just to help clarify, it is well documented about the incident with Evon and the asura gate during the Escape from Lion’s Arch release.
I will post this again for clarity’s sake as well. Now, who shut down the gates?
Oh boy. I missed that part. I guess you just debunked a conspiracy.
Exactly. Without having any subscription fees, Guild Wars 2 is the second best revenue earner for NCSoft, behind Lineage.
Basically they just sent the message yesterday that they can edit our already-purchased goods whenever someone else on a forum complains about something, on a whim, so I am forced to draw the same conclusion as the OP’s title.
From what i hear about the Flame-kissed armor, it isn’t the first time, either.
Indeed. Anet admitted there was a mistake made with the Flame-kissed light armor skin. Kudos to them for not only admitting the mistake, but then fixing it as well. Players who weren’t happy with the fix were given refunds.
They didn’t get refunded from what I’ve read.
Players had to have contacted Customer Support to get refunds. See the following announcement:

Uhh, Kiel was at the red knight, along with heal o tron. and evon shut down the gates on escaping people, he kind of deserved it. She also warned her fellow captains, which you can meet them all in the camps.
And on the Hologram.
But we ended up doing all the work for her AGAIN. As expected from a person who can’t handle the responsibilities of her elected position.
I hope she left you here dead when you died… She helped
The holograms never killed me. I was in the middle of the fight, dodging and weaving my way to victory. Kiel hid in a corner while Hobo-tron saved my guildies.

Pay to win = pay to get an advantage, regardless if it’s just saving time imho.
time is only won if others lose out, in a game like this, time is your own and doesn’t affect anyone else.
thus time savers doesn’t make you win, only use less time to achieve the same.
To add to this, since time savers are available to all players for the same costs, there’s a “level playing field”.
Time is money. Money is power.
Ergo:
Time is power.
This is actually a fallacy. It’s like saying:
The apple is red.
The strawberry is red.
Therefore the apple is the strawberry.

I think you are putting way too much emphasis on “ever”.
How so?
Here’s a little gem from Mike O’Brien:
As developers, the important thing to us is that we hold true to our standards of what should be and what shouldn’t be purchasable. You may have read my 2012 blog post on this subject. For those of you who haven’t, I’ll summarize. We think it’s right that players can spend money on items to provide visual distinction or customization, and can spend money on account services and time-saving conveniences. We think it’s right that players can trade gems for gold and vice-versa, such that players can keep up with other players and be on a level playing field, whether they use their time or money to do so. But we think it’s never ok for players to buy a game and not be able to enjoy what they paid for without additional purchases. And we think it’s never ok for players who spend money to have an unfair advantage over players who spend time.
These are our guiding principles. They’re obviously different from what you see other developers doing. Particularly in China it seems common for games to have VIP systems that make characters more powerful than they could ever be without VIP. That’s not a level playing field; that’s “pay to win”.
P2W conspiracy debunked.
Just like what they are doing with GW2 in China……………lol. Thanks! I didn’t have to do anything,,,,,lol
Actually this in regards to China. If you read carefully, this supports my position.
Unless you meant to compliment me on winning this debate.
The 1st part does, but then the second part contradicts their actions, which is the reason I separated the two in the quote. Maybe you should have read it through and left that bit out…..lol
Actually, if you read it through, you’ll see the Mike O’Brien explains that even with the added conveniences of the Gem Store offerings in China, it does not equal “P2W”. The playing field is even, thus GW2 is not P2W. Not sure where there’s a contradiction in that.
Pay to win = pay to get an advantage, regardless if it’s just saving time imho.
While it’s true that your own opinion is formed on the matter, the industry standard for the term “P2W” is “paying real money to win”. Saving time does not equal winning.

Core issues were left unfixed for a long time it doesn’t shock me people would want to leave. Silence is all you can really do as a company because if you miss the deadline or it has to be pushed back nothing can save you from the wrath of your player-base. Also you have to have things cleared with marketing and management before you can really disclose information and not all things are finalized. I personally wasn’t impressed with living world i think i only really enjoyed the SAB and gauntlet.
Gw2 still has the best combat/art in the industry the only thing that looks better imo is Blade and Soul which is another ncsoft title.
Kinda off-topic, but just wanted to point out that GW2 isn’t a NCSoft Tittle. NCSoft NA Publishes it on the ocidental world, but they have no call on the Art or the game mechanics (i.e. They have no call on development decision and tasks, that’s all on ANet).
Also, Blade and Soul is developed by NCSoft KR, which, apart from being a mother company to NCSoft NA, doesn’t necessary work together with it.
Players from Lineage 2 know what I mean, as with things gets implemented on the Korean servers but take months to be localized and, sometimes, are split into multiple patches, while all suggestions from ocidental markets are just ignored.
I need to correct you here. NCSoft is the parent company, and all decisions made by them are implemented in game. It’s not a matter of them making suggestions. If they pick a course to follow, Anet listens. However, they give creative freedom to the team to do what they need to, but most likely within some predetermined guidelines. In the Cantha thread somewhere, one of the Devs commented that NCSoft is one of the better companies to work for in terms of that creative freedom.
Back on topic, because NCSoft is a publicly traded company in Korea, they release earnings reports. With the amount of money being generated by GW2, this pretty much ends this thread’s debate: http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx

I get that in real life, if I get a broken leg, I won’t be standing on it really. But it isn’t like we saw the bone come out of his leg. As a Norn I don’t think it should be affecting him as much.
With one single post, you admit that having a broken leg is a big deal, and go on to say it can’t be that bad if the bone isn’t sticking out. I take it that you’ve lived a pretty safe life. Compound fractures are indeed bad, but even grown men can cry when their legs break.
OKAY.
We are talking about the Norn.
The same Norn that everyone argued with me about 2 weeks ago that they could face entire armies solo and still stand.
You’re telling me a broken leg is holding this. Norn back, and that, this is normal for a. Norn?
I do live a safe life. But I have had broken legs. It sucks. But this is a fantasy world where my Asura gets slashed in the face by a greatsword and bleeds a little.
And in this fantasy world, my ancestor helped a human become a god, and all his wares disappeared from the Hall of Monuments.
I get that in real life, if I get a broken leg, I won’t be standing on it really. But it isn’t like we saw the bone come out of his leg. As a Norn I don’t think it should be affecting him as much.

I believe the best option would be to have different ways of making a legendary. A player who solely plays wvw (or pvp/pve) should be able to make a legendary.
In my opinion anyway.
Anet made it so that people had to experience all parts of the game before they could craft one. IMO, it’s too easy to make Legendaries at the moment. Legendary crafting should be hard and time consuming, which was the initial intent. But hardcore players showed Anet how dedicated they were to making them. I remember fondly how someone made one in Beta testing. Granted it was a Beta recipe, but that’s still an achievement.
And there are multiple option to obtain one. You can craft it yourself. You can buy it from the TP. Or you can win one from a player sponsored mega giveaway raffle.
~~~snip ~~~
My server’s full of people at all hours. Perhaps you mistook your server’s players transferring out as a sign they quit?
Here are questions to determine if something is P2W:
1) Does it give you a statistical advantage in game?
2) Does it cost real money?
3) Is it only available to paying players?If the answer to all three questions is “yes”, then it’s P2W.
Until you can manage to pass that test, your side of the debate fails.
- doesn’t belong on that list. Many developers (or monetization managers) of P2W games are smart enough to create unrealistic, but still possible avenues to acquire the same things in game.
Put an item in the cash shop that gives an advantage, and then also put it on the loot table for a specific mob with an astronomically small chance of dropping. In a game with hundreds of thousands of players, you’ll have some who spent a week just killing that one stupid mob to get it, as well as some who just got lucky and had it drop. Defenders of the game can point to them and say, “See, you don’t have to spend any money!” and “Buying it from the store is just a convenience!” Of course, plenty of people will try to grind those mobs for a while, then give up and drop the cash to just get it over with.
In the end, P2W isn’t binary. “This game is, or isn’t P2W.” It’s a spectrum. The moment you introduce items that offer a game play advantage in the store, you’ve stepped away from the “not at all P2W” end of the spectrum and inched toward the “completely P2W” end. It’s all a matter of the tolerance levels for your player base. Americans and Europeans will tolerate less than Asian players, but we will tolerate some.
And some of us will crusade on forums arguing that if you can’t show it’s midnight black, it must be white.
You’re right and for your own health I’d just let it go: we all know no reasonable person would disagree with you; cynically, the conversation was successfully derailed.
Oh, I counted that a few posts up. I’ll quote myself for your convenience:
But when you introduce a system that allows non-paying customers to access the same goods that a paying customer gets, “P2W” flies out the window. If a P2W MMO did the same thing that GW2 did with the Gem Exchange, their business would suffer. P2W Whales would rage to the high heavens that their exclusive “paid” items were now available to players who didn’t pay. There’s less incentive for them to spend ridiculous amounts of money for virtual advantages.
Why spend $16,000 for a sword when you can just grind it out in game? The P2W business model caters to those willing to pay real money for real advantages.
Then ofc you know I am going to ask for a legitimate source. We know that’s rhetorical b/c you don’t have one….ie you made that specific worded criteria up. I cannot help you if you do not understand simple concepts such as your own words vs someone else’s words.
See post above yours.
You’ve spent hours of your day arguing about the definition of “P2W” with strangers who you’ve now polarized, and for what? You haven’t convinced anyone and you’ve wasted your own time. But I’m sure Anet will send you a card in the mail come Christmas.
Also, you’re wrong.
[redacted] is a boring and thankless job. Luckily GW2 is not firewalled, thus giving me ample time to have a healthy debate that I win.
By the way, when industry executives agree with me, you have no foot to stand on:
Here, I found a great article that will help you to understand what P2W is:
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/193520/Wargaming_kicks_paytowin_monetization_to_the_curb.php
To help, I’ll quote the last paragraph:
“The classic free-to-play model, particularly in regards to pay-to-win elements, follows one simple tenet — the more you pay, the greater your advantage over other players. It results in huge payments from a small number of users (the so-called “whales”) and increases a game’s average ARPU [average revenue per user] and ARPPU [average revenue per paying user] numbers. Top-payers end up never losing, while those who pay less or don’t pay grow dissatisfied with the game. Eventually, many leave entirely and the overall player base shrinks. "
Evon’s not a warrior, he’s a citizen. No-one would have to risk their lives if Lion’s Arch had listened to him in the first place. Kiel actually did run until the miasma cleared up, for the first two weeks she let everyone else do everything while she was safe in her air ship.
As far as putting down Evon goes, the new black market plot in Brisban could easily tie in with him and the Consortium. Given the way the writers are positioning the audience more and more against Evon, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out to be the next villain.
Actually, he’s a warrior turned merchant turned HERO. If Anet forced him to become a villain, they’d better give me the option to join his legion.
Aha! But for those of us who buy Gems with real money, the rate doesn’t change.
Look, you were given a window to spend heirlooms. It was advertised and promoted in the last week. Just because you were or were not thinking about what to spend them on does not matter. You didn’t spend them within that window, sorry you lose out.
“Advertised and promoted” would imply that they put it out there everywhere so that no one would miss it, rather than a single post in the “news and announcements” section of the forum. Had they placed it in the Login section of the game, I would have seen it. Had they done an in-game email, I would have seen it. Had they made an announcement in ALL of the relevant forums (such as this one and the living story one, and the general game one) I would have seen it. And had they done all of that advertising and promotion…I would be right there with you agreeing with you 100% But I feel that if I missed it….and I visit the forums at least once every other day, I read every announcement on the login screen (even about gem-store items), I read every in-game mail and actually talk to vendors and surrounding people…If I missed it…then there were a TON of people that never saw it at all.
I would not call what they did “Advertised and promoted”…..I would call it “Mentioned”. SO you cannot blame people for missing it and simply say “it was out there”
That reminds me of “hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” when they are destroying the earth to make a new transgalactic highway and the humans are saying “WTF??” and the aliens simply say…“Hey, the form was filed with the galactic central office, it was located, on display in subbasement 57 of the galactic central offices. To all the people arguing against it…in what way does it hurt you to bring the vendor back for a week? Or to add it to the new “blade shards” vendor that is supposedly coming?
Just curious why some people are arguing so hard that ANET should not bring the vendors back….to be honest, it really doesn’t hurt me much…I probably missed out on like 8 obsidian shards from all the belongings I had….and I have 6 million karma I could spend on that….but I am arguing FOR it for the people that missed out. So I am curious why some people are arguing against it?
It’s not fair for those who do read Dev posts, and subsequently turn in all our trophies in a timely manner.
If every player knew about the time limit, then it could be “not fair” for those who did it in a timly manner.
Or you can call it unfair for the player who farmed those items and cannot use them anymore.
But I think, if the majority of players don´t even know about the time limt, then there shouldn´t be a question abot “Fair or not fair?”. This a problem with the communication between anet and the players. If they have an important change, which directly affects the player, why dont announce it in the patch-notes or send everyone a short letter? My personal favorite is a small pop-up-window ingame, so it doesn´t spam the mailbox.
With that even those players who don´t use the forum or don´t use twitter (or whatever) and are playing GW maybe once every 2/3 weeks will know it.The fairness non-argument makes no sense and never did. There are better ways to communicate and I assume Anet is learning from their mistakes as they go.
That would make sense, if there was a mistake to begin with.
Because allowing DaFuzz to turn in his trophies somehow makes your obsidian shards or halo stop working? or does it take them from you? no wait? It means that there will be one more player running around with a halo for the next week that you won’t notice over the 1000’s of other players already in the game who don’t have them? I am still struggling how this affects your ACCOUNT bound items? It doesn’t de-value them in any way…you still have yours. Not to mention most people will stop using their halo’s in a week anyways since it is not a permanent head-slot item and only lasts an hour.
It’s about principle. Anet said players should turn in their stuffs, or lose out. If a player didn’t read the forums and didn’t know, it’s the player’s fault.
There’s an idiom that a wise man once said: You snooze, you lose.
Its not our fault you did not have the means to travel between the stars to go and see it.”
but if I only check those….I would have also gotten rid of all of my blade shards….since they told me to keep those in a different forum.
And what if I don’t read the forums? Like I said, also speaking for several of my guildmates who are stuck with stacks of these as well….one played with me last night and planned on jumping on this morning to use his (just in case) (which truthfully I did also)…but missed out opportunity because this time, they patched early.
I would count this as “player error”. Just because you missed a confirmation from a Dev forum post, doesn’t mean the company should bend over backwards to assist you. Here’s another link you may want to bookmark in your browser:
I actually do read devtracker….however its easy to miss something in there when the devs are posting a LOT (for bugs etc)….because, I missed it there.
To all the people arguing against it…in what way does it hurt you to bring the vendor back for a week? Or to add it to the new “blade shards” vendor that is supposedly coming?
Just curious why some people are arguing so hard that ANET should not bring the vendors back….to be honest, it really doesn’t hurt me much…I probably missed out on like 8 obsidian shards from all the belongings I had….and I have 6 million karma I could spend on that….but I am arguing FOR it for the people that missed out. So I am curious why some people are arguing against it?
It’s not fair for those who do read Dev posts, and subsequently turn in all our trophies in a timely manner.
Look, you were given a window to spend heirlooms. It was advertised and promoted in the last week. Just because you were or were not thinking about what to spend them on does not matter. You didn’t spend them within that window, sorry you lose out.
“Advertised and promoted” would imply that they put it out there everywhere so that no one would miss it, rather than a single post in the “news and announcements” section of the forum. Had they placed it in the Login section of the game, I would have seen it. Had they done an in-game email, I would have seen it. Had they made an announcement in ALL of the relevant forums (such as this one and the living story one, and the general game one) I would have seen it. And had they done all of that advertising and promotion…I would be right there with you agreeing with you 100% But I feel that if I missed it….and I visit the forums at least once every other day, I read every announcement on the login screen (even about gem-store items), I read every in-game mail and actually talk to vendors and surrounding people…If I missed it…then there were a TON of people that never saw it at all.
Here are questions to determine if something is P2W:
1) Does it give you a statistical advantage in game?
2) Does it cost real money?
3) Is it only available to paying players?If the answer to all three questions is “yes”, then it’s P2W.
Until you can manage to pass that test, your side of the debate fails.
- doesn’t belong on that list. Many developers (or monetization managers) of P2W games are smart enough to create unrealistic, but still possible avenues to acquire the same things in game.
Put an item in the cash shop that gives an advantage, and then also put it on the loot table for a specific mob with an astronomically small chance of dropping. In a game with hundreds of thousands of players, you’ll have some who spent a week just killing that one stupid mob to get it, as well as some who just got lucky and had it drop. Defenders of the game can point to them and say, “See, you don’t have to spend any money!” and “Buying it from the store is just a convenience!” Of course, plenty of people will try to grind those mobs for a while, then give up and drop the cash to just get it over with.
In the end, P2W isn’t binary. “This game is, or isn’t P2W.” It’s a spectrum. The moment you introduce items that offer a game play advantage in the store, you’ve stepped away from the “not at all P2W” end of the spectrum and inched toward the “completely P2W” end. It’s all a matter of the tolerance levels for your player base. Americans and Europeans will tolerate less than Asian players, but we will tolerate some.
And some of us will crusade on forums arguing that if you can’t show it’s midnight black, it must be white.
But when you introduce a system that allows non-paying customers to access the same goods that a paying customer gets, “P2W” flies out the window. If a P2W MMO did the same thing that GW2 did with the Gem Exchange, their business would suffer. P2W Whales would rage to the high heavens that their exclusive “paid” items were now available to players who didn’t pay. There’s less incentive for them to spend ridiculous amounts of money for virtual advantages.
Why spend $16,000 for a sword when you can just grind it out in game? The P2W business model caters to those willing to pay real money for real advantages.
To resolve this, players should just turn in special temporary currencies when they get them, rather than wait until the temporary event is over.
I think the issue here has completely devolved into a semantic discussion about what “Pay to Win” means.
The expression originated in PvP contests where the game publisher would offer items for sale that literally allowed you to pay for a win by getting an item that the other player could not overcome with skill. While primarily still used in that same PvP context, it has seen increasing use in PvE arenas (where PvP “winning” isn’t possible since players are in competition with the AI, not each other), usually applied to cash shop items that provide some form of non-cosmetic benefit.
I suggest we find a new term for advantage granting cash shop items in a PvE context, as that would eliminate a lot of confusion and linguistic discussion. Can anyone contact those ISO folks and see if they are working on a standard? :P
Seriously though, I do think we need a new term for PvE advantage granting items so as to not confuse them with PvP Pay to Win items. Even if it means simply adding PvE to the name, I’m down with that too.
The problem is, there are so many gripes out there, it’s hard to compile them into a single term. Example:
Some players are not happy that fancy skins are available for sale.
Some players are not happy with a tank that has more powerful rounds.
Some players are not happy with items that eliminate time games.
Some players are not happy with items that offer conveniences.
Some players are not happy with the ability to buy private arenas for SPvP.
Because of the negative association with the term “P2W”, people lump all these together. It’s like an endless cycle of fallacies. It would be better if the complaints were just: “I don’t like X because of Y and Z.” When you say “I don’t like X because P2W kitten kitten ”, that starts a new round of debate that completely gets off track.
Edit – Wow… those two words were censored?
Here, I found a great article that will help you to understand what P2W is:
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/193520/Wargaming_kicks_paytowin_monetization_to_the_curb.php
To help, I’ll quote the last paragraph:
“The classic free-to-play model, particularly in regards to pay-to-win elements, follows one simple tenet — the more you pay, the greater your advantage over other players. It results in huge payments from a small number of users (the so-called “whales”) and increases a game’s average ARPU [average revenue per user] and ARPPU [average revenue per paying user] numbers. Top-payers end up never losing, while those who pay less or don’t pay grow dissatisfied with the game. Eventually, many leave entirely and the overall player base shrinks. "
Then ofc you know I am going to ask for a legitimate source. We know that’s rhetorical b/c you don’t have one….ie you made that specific worded criteria up. I cannot help you if you do not understand simple concepts such as your own words vs someone else’s words.
See post above yours.
It took me until the patch day to get the money (i’m 15.) and yes. i decided to spend my money on gw2 instead of something else.
Money for what? Gems? What does that have to do with your problem of not being able to trade Heirlooms?
He wanted to get the level up item, but didn’t want to if he couldn’t get the money to buy another character slot. He got the money for the character slot and now knows that he wants the level up item that is no longer available.
Thanks. It all makes sense now.
Thnx CrossedHorse & its true, not all of us read every announcement or visit the forums everyday, so obviously sometimes things will get missed. I’m sure there will be many other players looking for the same answer that I asked, so at least in that way they’ll be informed of this (with this topic). Thnx for the replies all. =D
If they missed the announcement via the forums, how will they be informed with your post?
You do know that this is YOUR decider? This test is made up by you, has your constraints, and therefore does not necessarily apply to others. There is no official “litmus test” for P2W even though you may wish yours to be it. There inlies your issue. You think you are the authority. I am here to gladly inform you that you’re not.
I didn’t “decide” on this. This is simply based on how things are. I’m just providing you an avenue to try and prove the points you’ve been debating. For instance: “Saving time” – That fails all 3 questions in the test, therefore it’s not P2W. See how it works?
Since Anet intended on having players experience all aspects of the game for Legendary crafting, having a WvW rank requirement is justified. People who craft Legendaries should be experienced in “battle” before being able to obtain this gift. This would apply to SPvP as well. So with that said, the following adjustments would be recommended:
Gift of Battle
WvW Rank 50 + 500 Badges (no Silver or Gold needed)
SPvP Rank 10
Both these changes do not amount to hardcore PvPing. WvW rank 50 and SPvP rank 10 are attainable through normal play. They are not so high as to discourage people from getting the gift, yet not so low as to being a joke. This would be a good balance. Also, the current cost of 50 Silver for the gift makes no sense. We already have enough of a Gold Sink in other gift requirements. The Gift of Battle should be focused primarily on “battle” requirements.
Only Rank 14??? The rank requirement should have been at least 50.
I will admit it is my fault for not having done so. I missed the notifs that said the vendors will be gone after this patch, and while I wish anet would’ve made that clearer, it’s my own fault for putting off actually using the tokens.
It pays to read the forums and follow Red posts. While not everyone has the time to follow everything, you should consider at least clicking on the posts that show Dev responses. Esp. when a thread is titled “What to do with Blade Shards?” or something similar.
No. This is a reward for defeating Tequatl. If you want to have a chance at the skin, you need to kill Teq daily.
And you can kill Teq daily and not get a single one after a year.
This wouldn’t be a problem if the players didn’t complained so much when Laurels were introduced.
The idea there was having people working for the stuff instead of buying it all with gold they already had, I really liked it but a lot of players just went loud with “no new currency for new items” because hey, the least you have to do the better right?If Teq had a token system when after X kills you’d have enough I’d do it because I like the skins.
This way I just got my achievements on the revamp week and didn’t went back to this day.
Never going to happen. Also:
I’ve done maybe 50 to 75 kills, and no Tequatl Hoard for me, while some have gotten 3 or 4 with maybe 200 kills. RNG is RNG. It keeps the item unique and rare. While it would benefit me to have a token system, overall I’d still be against it. I don’t want Teq weapons to be as common as dirt.
It’s a shame though that I find Norn females too..chunky.
