Than why do server blackouts work when a mass amount of people just loging off causing a full server to go to very high?
Read my quote again… I’ll bold the important part:
Here’s a real world example from Gaile on how server capacity works.
I don’t mean to dismiss your concerns, but couldn’t the same be said about a lot of things? “My friends and I wanted to go to the 6:30 showing of a popular film but it was sold out.” “We tried to book dinner reservations on Saturday, but they can’t fit us in until next week.” “The first available appointment for your doctor is next Thursday.” “The flight was booked solid.” Maybe the most apt analogy is, “I went Christmas shopping and it took me 30 minutes to find a parking space.”
I have seen the same server/world situation since Asheron’s Call (which was a long, long time ago). Servers have capacities and there’s no way (that I can think of) to get around that — it’s a hardware situation that must be accommodated, much as a telephone system has a specific limitation on the number of calls that it can handle.
Please note that GW2 world capacities are adjusted from time to time; in fact that happened quite recently. More importantly, world population changes take place daily when individual players move to a different world, when guilds switch worlds, etc.. And I don’t know of anyone who has this problem for more than a few days.
I do sympathize with those who have to wait a day or two to get the whole gang together and I hope that each of you will soon be good to go.I think the movie theater is good example when you think about “full” servers. There are only so many “seats” available at any given time. If there are 200 seats, and everyone is sitting in one, then no one else can sit. Guesting in this case would be that you’re still in the theater and not “sitting down”, but rather you’re standing off on the sides. But say someone doesn’t like the movie, and leaves. Now there are 199 seats filled, with one empty for someone new to come in.
Sigh: Blackouts are not people leaving a server. They are logging out to which seems to change the server status. A full server that does a blackout should not let anyone into even if people log off. That is not the case though. BG for example is a server at full status. People logged off causing it to go to high status which now allows other to gain entry to transfer. People are not moving account they are just logging off causing the server status to change.
/sigh
Unless you read what I’m posting, you’ll never understand what “server capacity” is. Gaile represents Anet. She works for them. She has access to Devs, as she’s in the same office in Seattle. If you don’t want to believe her, then that’s your choice. I’ll just tell you that your “blackouts” have no bearing on when space is made on your server. If you have 25,000 accounts calling BG their main, all 25,000 of you can log out simultaneously, and you’ll still be “full”. In order for someone to transfer in, someone has to leave, or Anet increases the capacity.
That’s one of the random spawn points for the Great Wurm. It’s not the event one, but rather him just showing up and killing everything in his radius, this disappearing.

Didn’t this turn into a 2-matchup thread quickly?
I don’t think that counts if we already know BG is going to win. This is more of a discussion as to “why” they’ll win.

You did not answer about why servers do blackouts. Look at BG that did it before the tourney started. They managed to get more people in by massively logging out. No one left the server, they just logged out. As I said, it should be by accounts but in what is actually happening it does not appear to be that. Blackouts would be meaningless than.
Again, refer to my post. Gaile herself tries to explain it, thus the reason why I quoted her. Unless you’re trying to say Gaile, an Anet employee, is wrong?

No one asked what the hell a BLSK is?
Black Lion Salvage Kit
Are you dying in 1v1s and not knowing who killed you?
I think he wants to be sure that when he losses 1 vs 1 fight, that it wasn’t an invisible Thief backstabbing him constantly.
So if I join a server that is very full at night and full by day, I have to wait to login everytime i login during the day?
No, because servers don’t work that way. Server capacity is based on how many accounts are housed on that particular server. So if you manage to transfer to a server that’s very high or full, then that’s were you live. However, if there are a lot of people online, you may be placed into an Overflow server, depending on which map is full. GW2 doesn’t work like some other MMOs where you need to queue up to log in.
This already exists: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Light_of_Dwayna

Here’s a good link for people who don’t understand how servers work.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/NA-Server-Population/first#post996076
Unless they changed something, yes it is. I know you would think it’s based on people in the world in total because it’s called population.
Populations are based on Accounts that call that server home. This has not changed since day 1. Each server has a finite about of space for accounts to be housed.
Example, a server might have 25,000 slots reserved for accounts. If the server is listed as “full”, that means 25,000 slots are filled from accounts listing that server as your main, or from people who managed to transfer in to call that server their main.
The only time a “full” server has space for new accounts is if 1) the server cap is increased on Anet’s end or 2) someone transfers off.
Absolutely incorrect.
Per the official wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
“You cannot move to a world that is listed as Full. However, that status varies throughout the day and tends to drop during off-peak hours, i.e. if you are unable to transfer, try again when there are fewer people playing, e.g. early in the morning (server time) or during the work week.”
I have personally transferred to and from Jade Quarry four times using this method.
You’re misunderstanding what that says. People cannot transfer to a server that has all it’s slots filled. If you managed to transfer there, that means one person transferred off. By your thinking, that means Jade Quarry can, in essence, have unlimited space for people to call that server their main.
That is untrue. Population is based on Accounts, not concurrent players online. Think of it as “server capacity”.

There’s no more time to do this, as PPT is vastly more important due to rewards.
You guys…
A full server is going off how many players are on currently, so just keep trying on occasion and you’ll get in. Obviously later at night will be better as less people will be on. And welcome to Jade Quarry, the BEST server.
Also yeah it may be hard to get into jade quarry guys but that’s because we’re the best, being number 1 is a tough road you know.
No. Server population is based on how many accounts housed are there. It’s not based on how many people are logged on.
Try Northern Shiverpeaks. One of the top WvW Devs calls that server home, so you know it’s good.
I will pay Gems for this tonic. Even if it’s only a temporary 1 hour tonic, I will pay Gems for it. Please convert the current April Fool’s joke code into a tonic, and place it in the Gem Store. Plus make it stackable with other tonics. Please…
Better yet, make the tonic AOE, so it affects people around you. I will pay even more Gems for such an ability.
Yeah, I agree – that’s totally OP man. These mobs are all around the battlefields. You don’t even need to waste your steal on players, as a gap closer. What noob thieves, they don’t know they should target the ogres that are all around, you just can’t see them because they are in stealth(nerf ogre stealth), for that totally op ability, then walk to their targets and smack them good. I mean – it’s like 35s cd skill for 3s stun. I mean… gasp that’s like whole perma stunlock, knowing how thieves are. I think the most logical course of action in this situation is to nerf ranger pets.
Inb4 they remove all Ogres from WvW BLs.
Not sure where you get this from OP. Defending is important for PPT. A couple of nites ago, Maguuma laid a 5 hour siege on our BL’s West Keep, because SoS refused to give it up. There’s good fights to be had when a server bunkers down to defend.
I’m on Vizunah Square (EU), and I’ve just saw a guild (I won’t give names here) GvGing in the Borderlands while there are 50+ people queues on all the maps… except on the obsidian sanctum.
Is there a way, any way, to report this kind of behavior? What can we do against this??
Are you watching them violate your game mode?
Note – they’re fighting each other on a player vs player map. If you don’t like it, feel free to attack them.
1. Maguuma
2. Tarnished Coast of Rall
3. Jade Quarry
4. Sea of Sorrows
5. Dragonbrand
6. Badgate
Confirmed – Maguuma #1 skilled server

I suggest you keep an eye on specials that come out now and then. I think these two items have been reposted at least twice since the Living Story ended.
He ran in LA
A true hero knows when to fight, and when to run. And thanks to Kiel ditching LA with Magnus, we had to do all the fighting for her (again).
So when Gnashblade runs, it’s because he’s a hero and when Kiel “runs” it’s because she’s a coward (and not at all evacuating people or anything).
Your little “Gnashblade is a hero” thing was funny for a while but you’re stretching it a bit thin now to be honest.
Evon knew that he was out numbered, and that it was important to save his weapons. If he didn’t, I wouldn’t have had a chance to pick up my Tormented Pistol skin, which comes in handy for fighting evil.
Kiel couldn’t defend LA from the initial invasion, and couldn’t do anything in the fight against Scarlet. WE heroes did all the work, and it’s thanks to Evon that we’re able to equip ourselves with the tools needed to win.
Will the decorative molten jet-pack be obtainable through drop again ? As much as I really love the jet-pack , it doesn’t make any sense to me to see it go for 540 gold on the trading post . Basically what I’m also trying to say is : Will the price drop for the Decorative Molten Jet-pack ?
The one you circled in the pic looks like a nice price. You should buy it right away.
While we don’t have a concrete list of what we’ll be seeing discounted, both current and discontinued items have the possibility of getting a few gems knocked off their regular price.
I narrowed down your post so that you can see that they only offered the possibility of a discount.
But what does it matter? If you waited 31 days, or just bought it outright in the beginning, the price is still the same. So if you just buy it now, it’ll be like you bought it on March 1st. OR, you can keep waiting, because slots will most likely go on sale again in the future.
Hang on… HAS it actually been said somewhere that lore-wise, Evon is the one financing all future armor repairs?
John Smith confirmed it here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/say-goodbye-to-armor-repair-costs-and-hello-to-free-trait-resets/
actually wished Kiel had died in the attack,
We all hope for the day that Kiel keels over.
Calling out John with a challenge? Welcome to Econ Wars 2!
Congrats Vol, you just unlocked the inflation door. Now John will have to mitigate the damages from the influx of Gold into the economy.
:3
Okey guys, so… i watched the comments below and i guess you can’t understand what I want… So i want to be Double Two-Handed sowrd on warrior, BUT I don’t want more stats, and sigils… Maybe its just an option to a new lookout… Try to read, what i write please, before comment answers…. Thanks.
So if I understand your idea, you want Warriors to have 4 arms so they can wield two 2-handed weapons?
Title says it all.
Vizunah Square and Seafarer’s Rest are camping inside the Obsidian Sanctum with insane huge zergs making it impossible to get the WvW Season 2 archievment.
Now can a dev please explain to me how the kitten i’m suppossed to get through there?!
http://abload.de/img/gw064uzkpu.jpg
Also entering any of the other WvW maps is now impossible too due ridicilous Queue’s.
Why does ArenaNet never think these things through?
If you’re unable to complete a Player vs Player Jumping Puzzle because others are attacking you, then perhaps it wasn’t meant to be? I would recommend fighting your way through, as that’s the reason why Anet created this. If you’re up against big numbers, bring in big numbers yourself. The power is YOURS!
Wealth? You yourself said that in-game items have zero value.
They have zero “real dollar” values. That’s quite different than being able to buy a Precursor or exchange Gold to Gems.
First, I don’t plan to turn to the legal system, even if I did have a case. The point is simply that A-net is destroying a lot of the ‘virtual value’ that players paid for in good faith. Even if A-net has the ‘legal right’ to make me feel duped and ripped off I think this is a terrible business move. people who haven’t paid money for duplicates come out ahead, but then again they don’t have a history of buying a lot anyway, right? People like me who spent a lot and feel ripped off will either not buy gems any more or quit the game altogether.
Correctemundo. It’s like saying you deserve lottery winnings because you bought a ticket right before the winning ticket was sold.
Actually a good analogy would be if the lottery sold you fifty tickets and I only bought one. The lottery then issues a statement saying “It doesn’t matter how many tickets you bought. Everyone who bought any number of tickets now has exactly the same chance to win.”
The lottery “just changed how tickets work”, right?
Just to clear this up, you don’t have a case. Making sure we get that out of the way.
Now then, when changes are made that impact a player’s Gem bought items, Anet has in the past offered refund options. They don’t have to, as per their User Agreement, but do so anyways because it’s the right thing to do. But with regards to dyes, it’s been stated that any duplicate dyes you have across all characters will automatically trigger an UnID’d dye to make up for it. If you open it and end up getting another duplicate dye, simply sell it on the TP.
Many times people threaten to quit this game over mechanics or updates that they don’t agree to. That’s fine, as you’re free to do as you please. If you decide to come back, your account will be the same as when you left it, albeit much further behind in terms of content and wealth generation.
If you look at the whole presentation it shows clearly that this is an area of unsettled law in both the EU and the US. Legalities aside, I feel quite ripped off, and that’s all that counts. If A-net does refund all duplicated dyes, then my entire thread will be moot, and I will be quite satisfied with the outcome.
As it is right now, a duplicate dye that is worth 100+ gold on the TP will be replaced with a random unidentified dye. Hardly just compensation. If they instead gave me back an unopened dye of the same kind that I could then trade or sell on the TP, that would work very well.
When you created an account, you agreed to the terms as stated in the User Agreement. Link: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
Pay particular attention to the following:
3. DURATION OF AGREEMENT, ACCOUNT TERMINATION, REFUND REQUESTS
4. ACCOUNT AND PAYMENTS TO NCSOFT
Do note that if you decide to start arm-chair quarterbacking on legal issues you may not have experience in, this thread may disappear.
The timer is based on how long you’re logged in game on that character. Be glad the primer doesn’t go away completely once you enter SPvP.
Yes you should buy them all, but I would recommend doing so at around 7pm server time. That’s the best time to get good prices, IMO.
Thanks
Strange the links seem real, i entered the link just for fun and ended up on real gw2 login site)

It’s actually 1.43 weeks.
I think this is a bad change, and I bet you guys will too once you reach the limits (I am not there yet, but I think I am close. I am not on my main computer at the moment).
I say this because if you care about the achivement chests your ability to earn them once you reach the limit is decreased. At the moment I earn enough daily points to get another achivement chest every month and a half (if you only did ~5 a day it would be ~3 months), and I like those hellfire skins. I will max out the daily and monthly long before I get all the pieces
Aside from temporary metas (i.e. Living Story, SAB, etc), all accounts have a finite amount of AP that they can get. If you max your Daily/Monthly, work on something else. Cultural armors give a lot of AP and a unique title. Slayer AP takes time, but also gives a lot. Weapon type kills give AP. Grind out 100k drinks for AP. WvW, SPvP, etc. There’s a lot of ways to get AP.
You can ask in public. Most of the people here are experienced with the Trading Post already, so we could probably answer your question faster than a Dev would take to get back to you. If this is regarding something you believe is an exploit, send an e-mail to: exploits@arena.net
Note – if you think something is an exploit, one of us probably found it and reported it already, or it’s not an exploit at all.
Delicious price increases are delicious. But then, when new Legendaries come out, with new Precursors to tag along, you’ll see instant price drops for the old stuff.
There’s a lot of complainers here who don’t understand the reason behind the changes. Vol did a fair job trying to explain things, but allow me to offer a Layman’s approach.
Player A – Doing daily achievements since headstart
Player B – Got the game last month
With the current system, Player B will always be at a disadvantage in terms of amount of AP they can get from Daily/Monthly metas. With a cap, there’s no longer an infinite stream of AP, so it allows Player B to catch up to Player A, albeit down the road.
This gives a tiny bit of balance to how much AP a player can get. It’s true that new players won’t be able to get any Living Story AP from the past. The new change doesn’t address this, but it attempts to even out the playing field in terms of Leaderboards and AP chests. At least one source of AP will be even across all accounts, old and new. Three years from now, both Player A and Player B could potentially reach the cap.
Now to address the rest of the complaints. Doing Daily/Monthly metas give both AP and bonus items. If you’re a player who only cares about the AP itself, then of course you’d be mad about this. But realize that there’s other reasons to do the metas. If you manage to to the ceiling cap, you still can do the metas for the bonus Mystic Coins + extras that they award.
I honestly don’t think it matters which server you’re on. When you have a 3 way battle inside the SM Lord’s room, all servers would experience the same skill lag.
If Evon didn’t make any profit, you wouldn’t see great new items in the Gem Store. You think Frost Wasp tools and Golem Pummeler finishers make themselves?
He ran in LA

Try copy and paste, the linking from forums is being weird.
This job is to be the John Smith of the GW2-Chinese client. I don’t want such responsibilities. Just let me grab your morning coffee, and you can pay me with Gem discounts, and a 12 hour buffer for knowing which mats will be important for upcoming game changes.
