Me thinks EU server Wurms have less HP. /kidding

Congrats on the kill again. TTS is still battling bugs. At least we have a Dev that runs with us, so we don’t have to report anything.

Ohh. so you are blaming it on bugs now. LoL Deso has done it twice now without any blaming failures on bugs. I thought you guys were the ’elite" of all “hardcore” ’elite" players. No excuses then. LoL

We have a Dev that runs it with us nightly. Everything he sees, he reports to Crystal, thus the work on the bug fix behind the scenes. Mind you that the bugs don’t happen all the time. We joke with him that we’re Beta testing the Wurm.

I’m not sure you understand how the servers work. Each world server can only contain a finite amount of players (say 10,000). If the server is full or close to it, that means it has close to the maximum number of players allowed.

Going on, not all players on your specific server might want to do a particular event. So if there’s 10,000 people living on your server, and they all want to do Queensdale, or SPvP, or even WvW, then you have the following choices:

1) Transfer to another server that has similar interests as you

or

2) Convince people on your server to have similar interests as you

Youre missing the point. Theres no reason to separate players on to different servers in terms of PVE. Overflows are proof of that. Merge the normal channels as well, problem solved.

No. Each server has it’s own map. It makes no sense to have shared maps, because then it causes more problems when you have 100,000 people trying to get into the same map that only holds 150.

If one server decides to PvE less, then you have to make the decision to leave, or gather people to do PvE with you. That’s how you solve your problem.

Why is that a problem? Keep creating layers.

That’s what Overflows are for. I think you don’t realize that the basis of your whole idea is already implemented.

Dev confirmation - Mining Mechanics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think only master tools have that extra chance to get materials when mining (or if you are using the appropriate guild buff)

I believe all mining or harvesting has an inherent chance to get bonuses. But I digress. There are so many threads and comments popping up, and an Anet Mod or Dev will need to try and explain this mechanic either way.

If it’s an existing mechanic, let it be known. If it’s a bonus on top of a bonus, let it be known. At least then we can debate the item, rather than assume it’s one way or the other.

And why are you opening another topic here, if it has already been said somewhere else?

This is something that the community brought up many times in the past, and in my excitement, I wanted to be sure everyone heard the great news. Remember, not everyone knows where to go for information, esp. if it’s buried in the middle of a topic.

On that note, I sooo can’t wait until this update comes. I’m already investing in Superior Sigils before the prices skyrocket.

They spiked already when they discussed it during the twitch stream 2 weeks ago.

That was based on speculation. Now that it’s in writing, I expect more people to jump onto the Sigil bandwagon. Gotta grab them all while I can. Still, it’s an exciting time to be a 2-handed weapon user.

Watchwork Pick: Non-inflammatory please

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Smooth Penguin.5294

Since the previous massive thread on this topic was locked for being “inflammatory” in tone, let’s all make an effort to be non-inflammatory as we discuss this topic. To kick things off, I’ll reiterate the facts:

1) The watchwork mining pick is a best in slot item, as it produces more material when it mines than any other pick.
2) The watchwork mining pick is available only in the gem store.

Is this an appropriate addition to the gem store? My personal opinion is no; best in slot items do not belong in the gem store under any circumstances. As you reply, to add your opinions, please make an effort to keep the discussion calm and non-inflammatory.

Please note that we’re still waiting for confirmation on whether or not the new pick is, in fact, better than the previous. Because we don’t fully understand the mechanics of mining, be careful not to pass “assumptions” as “facts”.

Odd… I have never once felt forced to buy anything from the store. I do it because I want whatever item they have sold. If you feel forced, that is your issue.

Then that means I have full rights to tell people that there’s no “forcing” in any aspect of the Gem Store.

Anet needs to be forthcoming with this, simply because there are a lot of upset players who might very well be upset over nothing. But I do realize that Devs generally don’t comment on game mechanics.

If the mechanics existed already, that’s fine. If the new pick gives a bonus on top of a bonus, then as Vol said, we’re very close to the P2W line (although I still wouldn’t call it that).

exactly! INFINITE; It was advertised as “this is the last pick you will ever need to buy.”

come to think of it, if the company promised me an infinite car that I would never have to repair or replace again, but then came out with a new infinite car that drove twice as fast, I would request an upgrade for the price difference. which is what I plan to do if they give me a refund. kinda illustrates why in-game and IRL aren’t usually comparable.

The Infinite Molten Pick still works. You don’t need to buy the new pick, you WANT to. Big difference.

The White Mantle were 200 years ago, but they are also still right now, and are still very much around, but since Guild Wars 2 is not human focused, we may never actually see them outside the personal story.

I’m actually rather curious as to how ,RP-wise, you managed to marry an Asura, being honest.

My character’s love is not based on size or race, but of what’s on the inside. The heart. Besides, we can’t decide if our comparability is because my human is just super smart, or her asura is just super dumb. Maybe my human likes being hit with snarky attitudes 24/7. We didn’t write that RP story yet. And on a side note, we’re leaving out any honeymoon elements, since each story we wrote so far is too hilarious to share.

Next step, having my asura marry a charr.

Dev confirmation - Mining Mechanics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

User Ken DeBoer brought up an interesting point in the other forums, and I wanted to see if we could get confirmation on something. My apologies if this was brought up in a different thread.

When you mine a node, you have a small percentage to get bonus ore. Example, mining an Orichalcum node typically gives you 3 ore, with an x% chance to get a bonus 1 to 3 additional ore. Does the new Watchwork Mining Pick completely replace that bonus ore chance with sprockets? If the later is true, that means the new pick is actually worse off when mining T6 nodes.

I think confirmation on this mechanic would help calm the current rage storm. I personally don’t like having a pick give additional bonus items with usage, but I’m completely fine if that mechanic already existed in game (and we were unaware of it).

I wanted to stop by and say thanks for the feedback. We do feel that the celestial stat set will be hit the hardest with the upcoming critical damage changes, so we are looking at possibly boosting the overall stats by a small amount.

Also the celestial stat set in PvP is using a much lower stat multipliers than the PvE versions so we will be looking at changing this as well. Nothing is set in stone, but I wanted to let guys know this is something we are discussing.

That’s good to hear, since crafting Celestials requires time gated mats. I feel that the Celestial stat set should be slightly higher overall regardless, since the requirements to get are a bit more difficult over other stat combos.

On a similar note, don’t forget to consider a revamp to the Divinity and Traveler Rune sets too.

Now that the pick has been out a little while more data is out on the mining pick. What the pick does is replace the extra ore you may have received from a swing with a sprocket.
So you may get:
-1x ore
-1x ore + 1x crafting material (gemstone)
-1x ore + 1x Sprocket

You can no longer get the 2x ore.
*mind you this is a small sample size

Good point. If that’s truly the case, then all the complainers will be embarrassed for the current rage.

I would prefer to get that extra Orichalcum ore than a sprocket, so I’ll be keeping my Molten Pick.

The following I read concerns me. “The other is which world you’re associated with for the Season. This association was made the first time you entered the world during Season 1.”

As I mentioned, I returned full time to the game sometime in October. I can not remember the exact date. I was in an EU server but my friends there had all quit, leaving me playing on a server that was totally dead during my peak hours.

So I changed to Jade Quarry to join a friend’s guild. All of my time, my efforts and my points were achieved while under the Jade Quarry banner. I don’t remember the exact date when I transferred, but I spent pretty much the entire period on JQ and can’t have been more than a couple of days.

You transferred from EU to NA, so that’s where the major problem is. They have a potential fix for this, but you may not see it for a while. I would recommend waiting until they attempt to fix it, and then update your ticket if you don’t get your chest.

or Role-Playing a villain.

I like to role-play an evil Sylvari employed by Scarlet Briar. I often attempt to disrupt events such as Marionette and Tequatl. I never revive downed players but rather laugh at them and mock them. Sometimes, I even kite aoe mobs to downed players just to kill them. If anyone asks me about events or spawn timers, I often intentionally lead them astray by giving them misinformation. I’ve stolen countless Siege Golems and Repair Hammers on the Marionette event. Though I tend to warn the Marionette group well in advance of my intentions, they are rarely able to stop me. Another one of my favorite ways to spread misery is to intentionally start dynamic events which disrupt other events and player actions in the immediate area….such as starting the event at Mabon Market in Caledon Forest which renders the crafting tables completely useless.

And above all, in map chat, I am very vocal about my evil intentions. I am very keen to inform my enemies of their impending doom at mine own hands.

So, does anyone else role-play a bad guy? How do you do it?

Overflows exist because each map can only hold a finite amount of players at once. If there’s a maximum of 100 players per map (just making up numbers), and there’s 300 people trying to get in, only the first 100 will make it to the main map. The other 200 will then be placed in an Overflow server, which mimics the main server exactly. All the events are the same there, so you should have no problem accessing the new Living Story content.

Please stop trolling my post. Tequatl is overpowered for its level. The whole area now is unplayable. Exploding fishheads you cant kill.

Why not throw some Toxic Alliance in low level Queensdale and Gendarran Fields where low level toons with no toxic removal skills. That was brilliant

The fact that the players on your server refuse to organize for a boss that requires a good deal of coordination, is proof it’s not Anet’s fault. If everyone just wants to stand around hoping to join a group, rather than forming one, then that’s where your main problem is.

By the way, you don’t kill the fishheads, you avoid them. The mechanics of the fishheads are the most simple of the whole event chain.

Low success event + no loot from mobs = Time/Gold sink ?

Having events that basically require the same people turning up to all servers & running them is in no way any form of “balance”. This game is further & further from the grasp of the common player. The toil of making ascendeds is bad enough, then we find out that there will be stat changes which will potentially make a particular set unviable for the toon you busted your butt to create.

Now we have an event with a high failure rate where there is a multitude of mobs but no loot. Since when did obtaining loot for efforts become a no no?

Farming mobs instead of trying to do an event is one thing, getting no loot from an event that is expected to fail is totally unfair.

Its a game , its meant to be fun, This is more like work than fun.

These events aren’t meant to be farmed for their mobs. The goal is to kill the main boss for the loot.

Working as intended.

I needed to quote myself, since the OP completely missed my post.

Basically, you have an end goal, which is to beat the boss. You have wave after wave of mobs. Even multiple Champ spawns. If the mobs all dropped loot, guess where all the Champ trains will move to? There would be no reason to beat the event, since the rewards for farming would exceed the end reward.

There will never be content like this were you get both mob loot, and end event loot. That would break the economy, and Anet knows this.

Someone got shot in my neighborhood, and the policeman decided not to catch the gun shooter because it’s is too dangerous.

When ask the policeman why he didn’t do anything he said it’s the civilians own fault that the neighborhood is too dangerous.

Yes, if no one want to do Tequatl on your server it is not Anet’s fault. It is the fault of players on your server.

I’m sorry to hear someone got shot in your neighborhood. If it’s too dangerous, you should move.

I see this comment a lot. And every time I do I want to see the person who made the comment do exactly that….just go out to Lion’s arch and organize a group of 150 players to do ANYTHING! (heck, I helped run a couple temple runs and it is like herding cats to get people to go to the same place in the same order…much less do an organized event like tequatl) HERDING CATS I TELL YOU!

I used to guest to TC to help lead Teq kills. This was before TTS was formed.

Just wait for the Cantha update. That will be the best story content since Beta.

Before you complain, you should do the story that came with this update. There’s a lot covered.

Why not take the initiative and gather people from your server to do the event? If you just want to show up to elite content, expecting to join an organized group, then you need to wait for that group to come.

If no one wants to lead or coordinate on your server, it’s not Anet’s fault, but the players themselves.
