I bet the orphan’s trip was Kiel’s idea.
please support chinese font input in eu/us clients ( both simplified and traditional), since there is no “asian servers” , there are many players from taiwan, Hongkong and mainland of china even Chinese students aboard play at eu/us server, but gw2 dosen’t support chinese input (both simplified and traditional) quite well.
it is not a difficult issue, please support chinese language input so more player will benefit from the change.
thank you very much.
American is the official language of GW2.

Just an FYI for you OP, Evon Gnashblade is the one who warned Ellen Kiel about the attacks. Had it not been for the Hero of Lion’s Arch, Kiel wouldn’t know the difference between up and down.
I find it hard to believe the recent spate of denial of service attacks can result in seven Teq disconnects in a row, when I rarely disconnected before. Something has changed.
The first $59.99 is a given, but five hundred dollars spent on gems, given to friends and family in an attempt to encourage them to play the game, now makes me feel foolish.
It took over a year to address the right-click-target-camera issue. Is this the same? Is China the answer? I don’t see published evidence of cash flow problems for Anet at the moment, but what will result in an improvement in server capacity?
Blizzard didn’t drag their players faces through the mud this way.
It isn’t the money. It’s the silence.
Is it Anet’s fault that it rains 500 days out of the year in Seattle?
Even the best servers can’t withstand the fury of millions of computers with poor security being used to flood internet backbones.
It’s a waste of time to kill veterans because 90% of the time we get a useless piece of GREY item or a white. On the rare occasion, maybe a rare if we’re lucky. How are we supposed to make gold for really expensive dyes other than FGS trains until our eyes explode???
You’re doing it wrong. I would suggest you focus on killing Champs for loot boxes.
This is why you should just keep a couple of thousand Gems sitting in your wallet. When something epic shows up, you can buy it. Otherwise, you just need to wait and hope they re-release it.

Gnashblade actually seized the money to fund his campaign warchest. (He even admitted it openly!) If he did share some of the loot with his crew, he only did what he had to to prevent his crew from mutinying against him.
Running a political campaign is quite expensive. A lot of times, the people working for you do so voluntarily, so a majority of the funds go towards outreach and advertisement. Probably a small portion of the Gold went to feeding his staff, while a bulk was to inform the masses that Ellen Kiel is an inept leader with no skills what-so-ever.
Alas, she was able to bribe her way to victory with promises of cheaper WPs. Most of the uninformed fell for this trick, as when you did the number crunching, the amount saved equaled next to nothing. Now Lion’s Arch is about to get destroyed due to her lack of initiative on setting up a perimeter air defense. You get what you vote for.
~~~snip~~~
The value of the free items you got is 0. They cost you nothing to get. They drop from Achievement points, Daily/Monthly chests, etc.
Just to put this in perspective, Anet is under no obligation to exchange anything you got for free. How do I know this? Here’s the rules regarding money bought items:
“YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT NCSOFT HAS NO OBLIGATION TO REFUND ANY PAYMENTS, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, RELATED TO AN ACCOUNT WHETHER OR NOT SUCH PAYMENTS WERE MADE OR AUTHORIZED BY YOU, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INTERRUPTION OR UNAVAILABILITY OF SERVICE (SEE ALSO SECTION 10).”
Having said that, if Anet does do something for the Glory Boosters, that’s great. But I can’t stress this enough – you have no rights to any type of exchanges because you don’t like the item. If they allowed all players to exchange free Gem Store items for something else they actually want, the Support Staff would never sleep, and NCSoft losses money. There are hundreds of thousands of players in this game who get the same items as you did. Some players loved it, and some players don’t use it. We are all on the same page here. If you feel more entitled to different treatment than all of us, that’s your opinion.
no. i earned an item worth 75 gems that is useless for me, but worth full value for others, and now is becoming obsolete, and am asking if something will be done about that.
No, you were given a free item at random. It may have been useful to you, or it may have been useless. Either way, there’s no obligation for Anet to exchange this item simply because you’re not happy with a free gift.
I have a ton of the same item as you, and I’m making good use of them before the Glory goes away. If I can’t use them all, I’m throwing them away. Pretty simple.
To all the ppl taking this too seriously: I thought it was fairly obvious the post and thread is meant in good fun.
… Though I do totally subscribe to Evon being Mr. E. >_> #TeamGnashblade !
A true hero knows how to have fun. But my friend, I think you’re missing the point that Evon will save the day, while Kiel’s ineffective leadership sinks the city. That’s what this is all about. I’m just doing my duty to inform the masses that in Tyria’s darkest hour, there’s always a hero in the shadows.
And yes, #TeamGnashblade now and forever!
You were given an item for free, and complain when it wasn’t something that you wanted. Then you go on to say the item was useless to you from the beginning, but you’re even more mad now since you can’t use them anymore? But now you value them at 100 Gold.
Forgive me, but I’m really trying to understand what you’re upset at, since the motive keeps changing.
(edited by Moderator)
They aren’t RNG.
They are when you can randomly get them from Daily and Monthly achievements, or previously from BL Chests.
Note xp boosters have value after level 80, while PVP glory boosters ONLY have value in PVP.
Experience Boosters have no value if you aren’t leveling any new characters. But even if you need to level, you can use free Level-ups from the Glory vendor.
experience boosters allow you to level past 80 faster as well, for more skill points. virtually equivalent as to pre 80, but can give you far more xp since you can go full exotic and tag more enemies more effectively in the high level areas. if anything, they are more valuable past 80 for leveling if your goal is skillpoints, which you need many of for lots of things.
We already get tons of free skill points from Champ loot bags. There’s 400+ sitting in my bank. So no, Experience Boosters are not as valuable as Glory Boosters, since you can use Glory to get free Level-up items.
2-4 per week is a very, very high success rate. You must be very lucky in this game.
I usually get about 2 per week, but RNG blesses me every now and then with more. I’ve never gotten more than 4 in a seven day span (Monday to Sunday) though.
Our PPT is higher than T1 servers like SoR and BG! That means Maguuma’s the #2 NA server!.
You don’t need Ascended armor. The stat increase over Exotics is minor. So if you’ve given up on getting these, you can still play the game as normal.
People like you are the reason wurm can’t be beaten.
Yes the stats do matter. They offer a 5-15% damage increase. That is a HUGE amount of damage when everything in this game is a dps race.
If you don’t think that much damage matters then please don’t show up to the wurm event or any timed event that is introduced from this point forward.
We’ve beaten the Wurm 3 times already. Deso 4 times. Not all of us are filled with Ascended gear. Heck, in fact, I would go so far as to say we have pugs bringing Rare level gear (or even uplevels).
So if you think better gear and stats make up for lack of skills, you might wanna think again. Mechanics are much more important than someone with huge DPS, but dead under the Wurm head.
I spend a few minutes a day opening the Pirate Chest in LA with my lv 21 toon. I get about 2 – 4 Silver Doubloons per week. Just keep at it, and they’ll come. If you’re impatient, you can buy them from the TP.
the point is, i got glory boosters instead of boosters like strength, experience, magic find, ect from achievment point chests. these things have cost me tons of gems worth of boosters i could actually use. i have gotten well over a dozen of these from my 8.5k achievment points, thats 12 + boosters that could have been something else. and now, arenanet is making them trash items that cannot be used. its ridiculous. they gave these boosters equivalent value to all other boosters, and gave them high drop rate in the achievement chests. to remove them from the game is beyond unfair.
The drops were RNG. Just because you don’t want to use them, doesn’t mean other people don’t. I have tons of Glory Boosters, and I’m using them on a daily basis. If you don’t want or need them, simply throw them away. They were free to begin with, so complaining about them is moot.
PS – I have tons of Experience Boosters as well, and I don’t need them. They’ll be thrown away since I can convert my Glory to instant level ups.
The Anet writers did a masterful job with creating a hero like Evon Gnashblade.
You haven’t produce any evidence to suggest Evon a hero or even E. E is interested in the protection of Divinity’s Reach and Lion’s Arch. Evon has some motivation to ensure Lion’s Arch survival but as evident by the coming content has done nothing to prepare the city.
A true hero doesn’t need to tell his story. He let’s Anet do it for him. Tis expected from a humble charr like Evon.
It’s cute how Kiel has a similar, albeit smaller, thread. But the truth is already known. The one who was voted onto the vacant Council seat is inefficient, and lacks the necessary skills to be a leader.
I don’t think Anet issues refunds for a “change of heart”.
Because he’s the hero Lion’s Arch deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we’ll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.
Why must he be batman? Why not Bane I think he’ll make a better Bane.
The parallels are there. Bruce Wayne and Evon Gnashblade are both rich. They both went through dark moments in their lives, Bruce with his parents getting killed, and Evon having to kill his Warband leader. And both protect the citizens of the city using an alter ego: Bruce Wayne as Batman, and Evon as Mister E.
The Anet writers did a masterful job with creating a hero like Evon Gnashblade.
If we’re overflowing with Dragonites already, adding a 1 per drop to Champs will only compound that problem.
He suggested adding them to elites, not to champs.
That would be worse, since Elites outnumber Champs. The game has a very good supply of Dragonite as it is. They even boosted the drop rates in a recent update.
Wouldn’t he be a thief in profession since he uses daggers? I don’t recall warriors being able to use daggers, at least it didn’t appear my warrior could use them.
I use the term “warrior” in the general sense, much like saying “soldier”. But regardless of what Evon’s battle skills are, he is a true hero to Lion’s Arch.
Meanwhile, Kiel went above and beyond in Southsun, not just doing her job and finding the wildlife attacks’ source but also getting all those poor refugees out of their unfair contracts with the consortium, which is not so much in her job description.
Ah, such is the spin from a Kiel supporter. WE player heroes did all the work in Southsun when we saved the people there from the Consortium.
All Kiel did was take credit for our hard work, and weaken the defenses of Lion’s Arch due to her lack of leadership skills. At least with a hero like Evon, he shares credit for team effort. If the players voted for him, Lion’s Arch would be much more defended from attacks. This is as to be expected from a great leader like Evon Gnashblade.
If we’re overflowing with Dragonites already, adding a 1 per drop to Champs will only compound that problem.
So after you decided to remove the glory , can we expect some exchange ? I can´t and i wont play for 250 hours spvp cause i dont like it , i actually i hate it but thats off topic .. Please let me know if you thought about this
We were warned months ago that SPvP was being changed, and that Glory would be removed. I had a ton of boosters myself, and have been using them daily. If you have left over boosters, just toss them in the trash.
On a side note – if the boosters were useless to you already, then this update won’t be affecting you at all.
I do dungeons, and now I have as many empyreal as bloodstones. I do hope that dragonite can drop from all the elite mobs, even 1 per kill would be sufficient.
That’s a bad idea actually. The drop rates of Dragonites are generous enough as is. If you add them to Champs, we’d actually have to destroy the overstock when we run out of space.
Yes I have been in that thread with no support help as of yet.
Keep an eye for Gaile’s updates. Sometimes she posts mass listings of tickets. Not all can be resolved, so keep that in mind.
Since I have thousands of Dragonites sitting on my alt mules, I await for the day when I can sell these on the TP.
Just figure on it taking about 7 days atleast to get any support. I have been waiting since last Saturday for a password reset. A little rediculous if you ask me.
It doesn’t take long when you understand how Support works. If it’s taking longer than 3 days to resolve, you post in the correct thread for help. My friend got her problems resolved within 30 minutes.
Did you consider posting in the “Tickets for Review – 3 days and older”?
I’ve said before that Gnashblade is like Steve Jobs.
This makes perfect sense. Both Evon and Steve were innovators. They brought out products that were useful for millions of people: Evon with his Watchwork pick, and Steve Jobs with his iPhone.
There’s one big difference though. Evon is a hero who’s not only a smart business man, but is also a trained warrior that protects the city. We can be proud of a charr like him.
You need a better computer. I would recommend a normal PC. Keep your Mac for stuff like video editing.
I’m wondering when the last time Kiel picked up and sword, and actually did anything. As for Evon, he saved Jory from certain doom.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Just because he’s not flaunting around his weapons, doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to use them properly. A real hero is there when you need him, unlike some princesses who can’t even properly defend the city she represents.
I think NCSoft should celebrate by telling Anet to give bonus Gems to everyone who made a real money purchase within the last quarter. That little bonus would definitely make me buy more Gems later on!
Don’t hold your breath; my account has existed since beta and I never got my 20% magic find either. I made a support ticket and 3 GMs gave me copy and paste responses one of which didn’t even read my ticket until finally GM Barracuda answered my ticket:
“Can you please check all of your characters to see if you find the essence of luck on any of them. You are meant to get it on just one character and it’s available for the whole account. I consulted with my superior and even though I want to assist you with your issue, this item is not one that can be restored.”
This is something you got in the mail It would take too much date mining to determine if your current level of Magic Find was due to normal salvaged luck, or partly due to the free luck Anet mailed to you. Most likely you used them, and forgot about it.
As for the OP, it’s possible he deleted the mail that contained them. In that case, he should contact Support.
Wanze is correct. We purchase the Major Runes to take a chance at getting expensive Superiors to resell for profit.
1) Gems do not require the spending of any real money. You can use in game currency too.
My point still remains that it would cost the player significantly more to buy Black Lion Keys than it would using the waypoints. In the short-term the waypoints seem to be the better bargain, and from my observations of most shoppers in my area these deals sell more than others. I’m actually curious what would of happen if both were tied, would we have gotten both?
2) Evon doesn’t take credit for your work. We fight as a team, so the credit is shared. That’s typically of a great hero like Evon, always making sure us players are recognized for our deeds.
Do you have any proof or is this simply propaganda? Also he isn’t a hero, he is still extorting money from the people of Lion’s Arch just in a more cunning manner.
I’m not sure if you’re that you understand how Kiel fooled the player population with her promise of cheaper Waypoints. I’ll explain. The amount of Silver saved per WP usage was a guesstimated 25%, or at most 2 Silver per lv 80 character. The amount you saved on a per-use basis can be easily offset by killing one enemy, and getting an item drop. A single T5 drop or Fine/Masterwork item would be the value of the savings. Going further, market players could make the same money back without leaving Lion’s Arch. So by doing the maths, the amount of money Kiel supporters claimed they saved within the one month of temporary savings, is equal to the amount of money an Evon supporter makes by spending a couple of minutes on the Trading Post.
As for your claims that Evon is no hero, need I remind you that Lion’s Arch would have been under the claws of a corrupt Warband leader? Thanks to his quick action, he saved the citizens of LA. But he’s not one to gloat. No, we recognize Evon as a silent hero. One who uses his skills to protect the innocents from within the shadows as Mister E. Tis expected of an honorable charr as Evon. He only wants what’s best for everyone. That’s why he ran for the open Council seat.
When you have Evon’s one active, the resulting mechanic is:
While active when Evon is on the Captain’s Council, all Black Lion Keys are discounted, and Lion’s Arch would be well defended.
Unfortunately, people fell for Kiel’s discounted Waypoint costs. People didn’t do the maths, so they didn’t realize that the discount was equivalent to killing one foe, and getting a loot drop. Now Lion’s Arch is being destroyed because Kiel was elected.
Did Evon tell you that? Because that is incorrect. activating either Evon’s or Ellen’s would just give them a 100% of claiming your deeds as their own. Evon doesn’t deserve that credit, he’s a good businessman but your the hero. Why let him bask in your glory? Why sing his praise when you could have him sing yours? Think about it, the city can still be saved. Evon has already written it off and Ellen doesn’t have the resources to retake the city. But we do, think of the glory you could obtained. Think of how the people of Lion’s Arch would whisper your name for all time.
Note to self: Don’t watch Dawn of War videos on youtube prior to commenting I sound a little like Sindri there…just a very little bit.
Anyways on a serious note the mathematics would still favor Ellen. Gems cost real currency whereas waypoints cost in game currency.
You’re wrong on multiple fronts.
1) Gems do not require the spending of any real money. You can use in game currency too.
2) Evon doesn’t take credit for your work. We fight as a team, so the credit is shared. That’s typically of a great hero like Evon, always making sure us players are recognized for our deeds.
Just wait for Legendary armors to come out. Then, prices will spike when people start crafting Exotics to MF their Precursor armor.
How does that help goss? Or you mean wait until they eventually come out with legendary armor?
Unless they change the way you craft Legendary armors, most likely we’ll need to feed Zomorros Exotic armors to get our Precusors. And those armors require a lot of Gossamer.
While active, each time you kill a foe, you gain 100% chance for Ellen Kiel to take credit for your kill.
So it has the same effect as Evon’s.
When you have Evon’s one active, the resulting mechanic is:
While active when Evon is on the Captain’s Council, all Black Lion Keys are discounted, and Lion’s Arch would be well defended.
Unfortunately, people fell for Kiel’s discounted Waypoint costs. People didn’t do the maths, so they didn’t realize that the discount was equivalent to killing one foe, and getting a loot drop. Now Lion’s Arch is being destroyed because Kiel was elected.
TL;DR for prior post:
7003 crafting components for one Ascended chest piece…
That, effectively, reduces John’s lofty “136,909 items” down to possibly only 20 people crafting at one particular time-frame (of unspecified length, I might add).I think Ascended crafting only provides a short-term crafting sink.
Long-term, people who want Ascended stats will craft a set and then move on.
You do realize that it took John only a few seconds to read your post, and in that time, 136,909 items were destroyed. If you do the maths to account for how long it took you to type your previous post, in that time frame, millions of items were destroyed. Once you understand that, you’ll see that you’re assumptions are all wrong.
I play solo, almost exclusively, as do a vast number of players in GW2. Given the difficulties in forming groups, it would be great if Anet would gives us heroes. They would be from the characters we have created. They could be designated for pve only. This would allow players to be “good to go”, instead of waiting long periods for group formation to complete. Delays in group forming for guild members are issues too at times. Being a “guildie” doesn’t guarantee that others will be interested in your game plan plan and come to your assistance. LOL, and heroes don’t talk back.
If the game is too difficult for you to play PvE solo, I would suggest making some friends, or joining a guild. Socializing is a big part of this game.
Anet’s Pre release hype was “no more grind”, basically realizing the “grind” issues and how disenchanted players of GW were with it. Now we have the Ascended Armor / FOTM “Grind”. What the heck Anet? Was pre release hype re: No grind just a con job? Would seem a bit hypocritical to me. This games direction is going to vertical in my opinion. I think Anet is shooting itself in the foot!
You’re mistaken. There’s already no “required” grind in the game. You make the choice to grind for the Ascended gear, therefore it’s your own doing.
ps – I already have a full set of Ascended weapons, armor, and trinkets… plus my Legendary. I did the grind, and never complained once. The game is fine.
I remember last year around this time the devs came out talking about cool changes to World vs World to encourage small group play compared to the zerg fest World vs World had turned into. After seeing the new Edge of the Mists content, which I was thrilled to see added, I must question the logic behind adding every US server to a single WvW match. You are encouraging everyone to ball up and play the numbers game this way. So my question is, can we finally get a straight answer as to what direction WvW will be taking? Will all the other WvW maps be changed to reflect the new “all servers” style of combat?
I’m not hear to QQ about you guys doing something wrong, as I said I’m merely curious as to what your current intentions are. Hopefully you either scale it back to give small teams a better chance or I hope all the other WvW maps get the numbers boost they need by adding all servers to weekly WvW matches.
There are skilled players who form 3 to 5 man roaming teams, and are pretty effective against larger groups of opponents. Once you learn to play your character well, and get a coordinated (experienced) group of guildies or friends together, you’ll be able to reap the rewards of small group fighting.
We do plenty of that already. You can’t fight an entire balled up server with 10 people. You also entirely missed the point that ArenaNet had clearly stated last year they would be improving World vs World to encourage small play, and didn’t. If they had made defending keeps more interesting or gave us some tools to help even the odds on open ground I’d be content. They just never delivered on this promise either.
When you learn to play well, small 10 man teams can take out zerg balls. Come transfer to Maguuma, and we’ll show you how such a small group can stop a hammer train.
