I hear activating your Kiel Support buttons while in the ’Lion’s Arch Under Siege’ map, it gives you a 100% chance to kill Scarlet on critical hit.
Actually, you’re a bit mistaken on the effects. The true mechanics would be:
While active, each time you kill a foe, you gain 100% chance for Ellen Kiel to take credit for your kill.
I remember last year around this time the devs came out talking about cool changes to World vs World to encourage small group play compared to the zerg fest World vs World had turned into. After seeing the new Edge of the Mists content, which I was thrilled to see added, I must question the logic behind adding every US server to a single WvW match. You are encouraging everyone to ball up and play the numbers game this way. So my question is, can we finally get a straight answer as to what direction WvW will be taking? Will all the other WvW maps be changed to reflect the new “all servers” style of combat?
I’m not hear to QQ about you guys doing something wrong, as I said I’m merely curious as to what your current intentions are. Hopefully you either scale it back to give small teams a better chance or I hope all the other WvW maps get the numbers boost they need by adding all servers to weekly WvW matches.
There are skilled players who form 3 to 5 man roaming teams, and are pretty effective against larger groups of opponents. Once you learn to play your character well, and get a coordinated (experienced) group of guildies or friends together, you’ll be able to reap the rewards of small group fighting.
I’m omnomnoming the profits!

Jory <3s Evon for saving her from an Assassin attack. That’s why there’s currently “negotiations” between her and Kas, because Jory is torn between the two. Everyone loves a hero, but Evon is too busy running the Black Lion Trading Company, and protecting Lion’s Arch. There’s just not enough hours in a day for both love and war.
Such is the life of a great hero like Evon. Sacrificing a happy life in order to protect the citizens of LA.

Seriously. They never learn.
So basically, you’re suggesting that all servers have a current limit of only 100 to 150 players per map, and the rest of the players have to wait in a queue in order to access content? Kinda like how WvW is now?
So… how is that better than Overflows?
Some other ideas for NPCs:
Blind character born as a noble
Deaf character with a hyper partner that translates her sign language
Armless character with a talent for painting with her feet
Burn victim that’s emotionally scarred from a Scarlet attack on LAI somehow have the feeling there might already be a game out there for you with characters like these … :-)
I don’t know of this game by 4chan that you speak of…

This is what typical dishonest Kiel supporters would have you believe.
The truth is he is escorting his fellow citizens to safety, what else do you expect from a true Charr of the people!
You speak many truths my friend. Good people know a good charr when you see one. Evon is one such charr.
It’s not an issue about ease of coding, but rather a service that a seller uses. The Buyer posts a “wanted” listing, sure. But in order for a Seller to sell his goods to that person, he must LIST the item on the Trading Post. There’s a fee to use this service.
Think of it this way, the item you’re selling, whether it be a Sell listing or filling a Buy Order, is delivered though the Trading Post itself. You can’t pick up your items or money without visiting a BLTC representative. Because you’re using the service, you pay the fees. Sellers pay a non-refundable small percentage of the value up front, and a larger percentage of the value of the sale on the back end.
On a side note, this is one of the reasons why Buyer and Seller names are hidden. If the TP acted like a bulletin board system, or forum, I could easily bypass the TP all together, and message directly to the person posting the Buy Order to make a trade free of fees. That leads to scams, because there’s no secure method of guaranteed sell or delivery.
tl;dr – You pay a fee to use the service.
You’d still pay the fee, it would just come out of the profits if you filled an existing order rather than out of your pocket if you chose to post your item.
You’re thinking about it from the perspective of what is. I’m talking about what it could be. It could be a system that promotes more transactions (and thus works to combat inflation better) by allowing new or poor players to immediately fill buy orders. Instead of having 5% taken up front and 10% taken at the end, filling a buy order would take 0% up front and 15% taken at the end. TP tax remains in full force, and more players are able to participate in the economy which makes everyone more money.
No no no no no. I’m not talking about a fee on the back end profits. I’m talking about having to pay a fee “up front” before you can access the services of the TP. Before you can even touch the TP, you must put in money. Just like a soda machine at the mall. You don’t get a soda first, and pay after. You put your coins into the machine, and then the machine dispenses the soda.
(To add, I know some people will use that last example, and try to justify a back end fee like shopping at a market: Pick up soda from shelf, and then pay at the register. That doesn’t work, because this system is automated, while a clerk at the market makes sure you pay for the item/service before you leave.)
It’s pretty simple. If you want to have access to the Trading Post, you pay a small fee first. There’s no reason to suggest a fix to anything that isn’t broken.
Can I still pay him Gold for Achievement Points?

If he loved LA so much, he’d spend less time warning about impending doom like a crazy person and build a defense force. Instead, he’s done about as much (probably less) than Kiel. At least she told the other council members about it.
Sadly, her hands are tied by inept bureaucracy of the Council that refuses to acknowledge the severity of the situation. However, with the help of her old Lionguard pals and the trusty adventurers, she’ll lessen the amount of damage and casualties. This will, of course, only add to her influence and reputation.
All part of Kiel’s master plan. Gain influence, gain power. Once she becomes our next personal rival, we’ll will be more than happy to take her down.
#TeamGnashblade – fighting injustice since 2013.
Please don’t be mean to our future ally.
The problem here is that filling Buy Orders still require you to list the item. Why should we treat people filling Buy Orders any different than people listing items for sale? The seller of the item is still listing them, so no matter how much you dislike it, you must pay the up front fees to access the Trading Post’s functions.
In the event you have a player without enough money to post a high end item for sale, then that player can buy some Gems, convert to Gold, and then sell his item. OR… wait until he has farmed enough Gold to cover the listing fees.
Functionally, the buyer creates a listing and when you fill it, a sell listing is created, and then instantly deleted because it is paired with the buy listing, and the transaction completes.
That system is kind of a garbled mess, but it takes significantly less time to code which is why we have it.
This suggestion would require the code to be improved to be more efficient, which isn’t going to happen.
In an efficient TP design, there would only be one listing for each transaction (either a buy or a sell) followed by a completion when it is filled.
It’s not an issue about ease of coding, but rather a service that a seller uses. The Buyer posts a “wanted” listing, sure. But in order for a Seller to sell his goods to that person, he must LIST the item on the Trading Post. There’s a fee to use this service.

I think people now realize where the Living Story went because they voted Kiel. LA wouldn’t have been destroyed if Evon was on the Council, since he would have had anti-air cannons in place before he even took his seat. That’s what a well trained Warband leader would do – plan ahead.
Ahh, sorry. The way he wrote it was saying to me that he was trying to say all the other groups that have killed it post patch didn’t happen. Been lacking on sleep so a bit on edge lol.
Anyways as I said already good job on the kill.
Gotta give credit to the community, esp. Deso for sharing tips and strategies.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don’t tell them that. I’m still waiting for Dusk prices to spike.

Evon doesn’t run from anyone. He runs towards them with open arms. All heroes are welcoming to their beloved citizens. And when there’s danger, Mr. E works behind the scenes to make sure evil doesn’t win.
If you didn’t pay the listing fee until the item was sold then the TP would just be a gloried infinite bank completely bloated with peoples crap.
The listing fee must be paid up front or the TP would no longer be a place of trade but instead a place of bank storage.
The idea is that when filling BUY ORDERS only the listing fee would be paid from the sale profit. Making a Sell Listing will still require the fee to be paid in advance, so no banking of items is possible.
This would keep the taxes in place but would also allow new players who get a lucky drop to fill a buy order without needing to spend time farming gold just to be able to afford to sell the item they got.
Putting the listing fee at the end of the transaction for filling buy orders is a good idea, but one that would require a lot of coding and thus won’t happen.
The problem here is that filling Buy Orders still require you to list the item. Why should we treat people filling Buy Orders any different than people listing items for sale? The seller of the item is still listing them, so no matter how much you dislike it, you must pay the up front fees to access the Trading Post’s functions.

With the upcoming battle at Lion’s Arch, we’re going to need a true leader! Evon Gnashblade has proven to everyone that he’s the true hero of LA, and I predict he’ll be saving the city for a second time. Councilwoman Kiel on the other hand will probably just ask our hero characters to do all her work, allowing her to plot her next evil moves. That said, it’s time for #Team Gnashblade to take up arms.
Also, please be sure to stop by the Black Lion Trading Post to pick up some new hardware for yourself. Boxes of Chocolates and the new Harp are available now!
TTS has trouble killing when the wurm is technically not working right, but we get first kill post patch when it IS working right. I’d like to call that…. QUALITY!
Deso, [Att], and I believe TxS have all already killed it post patch. Please check your information.
Deso killed it like Saturday afternoon and [Att] killed it Saturday night 9pm. Both of which were post patch.
Not taking anything away from yalls kill, just please check your facts before you make a statement like that.
We know others have killed it first. But the “we” refers to TTS. We’ve come up short by a few slivers of health before, so our first true kill felt great.
I have a Zenith Staff on my character Sirianna. I transmuted it in the field in Frostgorge and now cannot equip it. I am stuck on a hill until I can equip it please as I need it to fight, obviously. I sent a bug fix x 2 and have had 0 responses, so I came to you here.
Thank you for your help in advance.
I think you might have gotten an item that looked like a staff, but was rather something else that your character can’t equip. You then proceeded to transmute the correct skin type to it, but still didn’t realize your character is unable to wield said weapon.

I understand the need for a tax for Listing an item and the tax for the actual sell. I do not want to remove these as I see them as necessary.
When you are selling to highest buy order, you the seller have to come up with a listing fee and you do not list the item at all.
I think you don’t understand how the TP works. When a player fills a Buy Order, he “lists” it at that price, and the order is filled FIFO. It’s not a matter of selling it directly to the other player. All transactions MUST go through the TP, so anything that gets sold first has to be “listed”.
That’s the price you pay for using Evon’s services. You do have the option of doing “Gentlemen Agreements”, where you and the other player agree to a price, and trade directly via the in game mail system. Keep in mind that if you get scammed this way, Anet will not help you get your money back.
What are you even talking about? The same fees would still be paid, just all in the back-end. Did you deliberately ignore most of what he said?
Same goes for you, wanze.
Why should the fees be placed on the back end? If you don’t have the money to pay the LISTING FEE, then you can’t sell the item.
Calm down. He knows exactly how it works right now. He suggested a change to filling buy orders only, where there is always a transaction. Next time if you do not understand a suggestion, just ask someone to explain it to you.
Yeah most of us who answer didn’t get the initial question being asked. However, it’s a moot point, since that suggestion is a bad one. I’m not sure of any service providing business (in game or in real life) that allows people to pay after-the-fact. You pay up front to use the TP services that’s safe and secure, or you use other less secure means to do your transactions. The options are there.
His suggestion does not work due to what tolunart and insanemaniac said.
Yeah, they went through the trouble of giving a solid explanation. Mine was more along the lines of a business man: “You want to use my service, you pay first.”
I love GW2,
I love this game too!
As for the rest of your post, stacking = strategy. Why let an enemy aggro and run all over the place, when you can have them target one spot?
it is strategy, picking your spot, controlling teh battlefield. However enemies fall for it to easily, and they have little good response to getting wailed on.
take a ranged charachter for example, yeah hes going to try to hit you, but once he has line of sight, should he stay and get wailed on by 5 guys, or make a big circle and maintain a ranged advantage if he can.
If you are a powerhouse, you should unleash powerful cleaves, knockdowns, or use skills like shields, or endure pain when the enemy buffs are high
If your a necro/condition users, you should dip within range then out and put wells and other such attacks, then retreat.
point is, the routines the enemies use are too simple, and give stacking a bigger advantage than it should. The only way to solve this is to make their routines a bit more complex. Some enemies should fall for it sure, but that should be by design, not a sort of always the best answer card.
Not all enemies can be zerged or stacked. Anet has been making certain enemies more of an “anti-zerg” mechanic, where you actually have to use real time strategies to defeat.
As for these bosses, unfortunately, it might be too complicated to have the same boss run multiple tactics. One day you’re up against a kiting boss, one day it’s a one-shot boss, another day it’s the original mechanic boss. Imagine the rage from the players if they’re geared up for a certain type of boss, and RNG gives them the complete opposite.
On a similar note, I am hopeful that one day, GW3, 4, or even 5, will have bosses with intelligent AIs that adapt to player strategies. By that time, we should be prepared for an enemy that requires more quick thinking and action.
Legendaries show you touched almost every aspect of the game. It makes sense that if you want to craft one, you must WvW and SPvP. Or, you have to have enough money to buy one off the TP.
Bottom line, Anet should seriously up the requirements for the Gift of Battle to include both higher than rank 30 WvW and some SPvP ranks. If players don’t like WvW and/or SPvP, then they can save up Gold to buy a Legendary from us on the TP.
It makes no sense currently to put legendary progression in spvp, its has a totally different cosmetic progression mechanic that completely works against the other one, too the point you cant even use your real bank in the mists. SPVP is the sectioned off game, it has different rules, different stat combos, different gearing system, different items. In fact if you even want to use a skin in SPVP it becomes a different item type.
it makes zero sense as it is. Perhaps when/if they make some changes, then it will be about whether its a good idea for other reasons, but as is the very systems in place clash with each others existence.
FYI – SPvP is up for a change soon. They want your characters gear (skins) to be more in-line with what you have in PvE. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.
I understand the need for a tax for Listing an item and the tax for the actual sell. I do not want to remove these as I see them as necessary.

That’s not what you wish at all. That’s just spite. Nice change of thread title.
I changed it to what I believe it has become. And if they changed the death zone to the entire world, it would actually have an impact since a single zone isn’t big enough.
A single zone can hold 100 – 150 people. I’d say that’s big enough. But when I go to Lornar’s Pass, I don’t have to worry about too much dying, since we kill the Marionette 9 times out of 10.
My suggestion to you is that if this map is so important for you to do, you should either 1) wait until the event ends, which is roughly 20 to 30 minutes after the hour, 2) gather people to complete the event, or 3) guest/transfer to a server with more PvE minded people like yourself.
You should know by now that if you go to that zone, and no one completes the event while you’re there, you’ll be nuked. After that, you have a 2 hour window before the event restarts.
This is not an account issue, but rather one of personal preference. This thread should be closed.
It’s against the rules to use a fake name when registering your account. It’s a whole different matter if you forgot what your full real name was.

I like the OP’s idea, but I wouldn’t put it as a very high priority item since I’m sure it would require a LOT of coding to make happen since that is not the way the TP currently works.
It makes sense that you would not need to have cash on hand to list an item if you are filling an already listed buy order.
But it’s still being listed, thus you need to pay Evon up front to use the service.
I think Linux gamers are too small of a population to justify the time and effort to make an OS friendly GW2. MAC gamers are lucky enough to have beta support at the moment.
In my opinion, all games should just be played on a Window’s PC, regardless of how much you may dislike Microsoft.
In another thread, we were praising Anet for the idea of Taimi being disabled, and the fantastic idea that she gets around using her “wheelchair” battle golem. This is just the type of character that a player can have an emotional attachment to. Someone for us to actually care for what happens, story wise. I wouldn’t call it pity by any means. But seeing someone persevere in the face of something crippling, and even exceed the talents of those around them, that’s good character development! We all can appreciate a “feel good” story.
To be honest, I don’t care what happens with Trehearne, or Logan, or the Queen. But I was kittened mad when Tybalt died. So Anet should take this idea, and give us more characters that have some disability, and write stories that don’t showcase the disability itself, but rather how their strengths in overcoming it. It might feel forced if done wrong, but the attachment would still be there.
Some ideas for future NPCs:
Blind character born as a noble – Perhaps having this character as a strong, independent leader or a scholar that we turn to for help. Possibly making this a key character for fighting the next upcoming Dragon? I would love to fight for this type of character, rather than being the backbone for a certain Councilwoman who takes the credit for all of our hard work…
Deaf character with a hyper partner that translates her sign language – This duo could be the comic relief for a story. The deaf character could be a serious type, while the sign language translator would be an immature jokester. The interactions between the two would cause great discomfort for the hero characters. At the same time, they would be needed to help fight a future personal rival or Dragon.
Armless character with a talent for painting with her feet – This could be a character of the arts, much like Marcello DiGiacomo, only this one has talent. Could be involved in side quests or missions for holiday events, where the heroes would hunt for items and supplies across Tyria.
Burn victim that’s emotionally scarred from a Scarlet attack on LA. The character could be some sort of target that an enemy would want, and we’d have to protect. This type of character would let the writers showcase the darker side of wars, where survivors don’t just live happily ever after. Although, these types of story arcs might be a little too deep for a majority of the player base (Case in point, Grave of the Fireflies).
they could also be an interactive love interest for hero characters just saying
<<snip!>>
To which ever part of the team that made her: thank you so much! <3
To you and everyone who has expressed appreciation for Taimi in this thread: on behalf of the entire Writing Team, you’re very welcome.
We’re very fond and proud of Taimi—her characterization was the result of a lot of good team effort and collaboration. Special thanks to Debi Derryberry (the voice actor) who really helped bring Taimi to life.
And here’s to whatever the future holds for our progeny prodigy. Cheers!
I think we should have more NPCs with disabilities. They tend to have more of an emotional attachment for players (i.e. a certain apple selling charr). I just love the idea that Taimi’s “wheelchair” is her golem.
Some other ideas for NPCs:
Blind character born as a noble
Deaf character with a hyper partner that translates her sign language
Armless character with a talent for painting with her feet
Burn victim that’s emotionally scarred from a Scarlet attack on LA
Edit… I think this deserves it’s own suggestion thread!
Still 6 euro difference is a lot. Even if the Euro fluctuates, it doesn’t fluctuate that much. And yes I could buy my gem code on any US website, but I think Arenanet is one of the only game companies that doesn’t use the difference between euro and dollar. Also the european VAT for these things varies between 16%-28%. Or let’s look at a different currency like the pounds in the uk, 20 usd = 12,2 pound if we include vat to the pounds it’d be 14,64 eventhough 1600 gems is 17 pounds that’s almost 2 and half pound unaccounted for.
Besides let’s be real, if you had the same thing and you want to spend money but you feel like there is something not right there, wouldn’t you ask questions?
You could always just wait for the United States to take over Europe, then convert all currencies (again) to the US dollar. Then everyone will be on the same page, speaking American and paying with $$$.

Even if I would deduct the VAT then still 2 euro are disappearing into thin air
Anet set the price at a static rate, with VAT included. Euro rates fluctuate daily, and it would be a pain to have to adjust Gem prices to match. But regardless, I’m sure you Europeans should be used to such pricing strategies. Most stuff sold there have static retail prices (i.e. PS4, Xbox One, etc).
This post was already made in a thread around the time of season 1. Not original sorry bro….
As you can see, that was a copy pasta bro. Mag is so stronk with pulling 500+ PPT, it must be the runes. We got coverage for both WvW and EotM right now. How’s SoR doing?
Maguuma can summon some very large blobs, and not just during the day or night, but all hours of day and night. Last week DB was matched up against them, DB got beat down so badly that people got demoralized and stopped participating in WvW. Some commanders that used to run WvW raids every day stopped tagging up. It was pretty sad. The whole week it was about how to avoid the zerg, which usually meant going off to cap empty keeps (borrring).
Thank Anet for EOTM, I wasn’t going to play the game much during the last match up but EOTM allowed me to still enjoy PvP. This is precisely why EOTM is a good thing.
Maguuma equips Stronk builds for our quest to move into Tier 1:
Superior Rune of Maguuma
(1): +25 Sweg
(2): +10% Forum Infractions
(3): +50 Sweg
(4): When you post on the official forum, gain a random boon.
(5): +90 Sweg
(6): Invite nearby foes to your party on kill.
And for the OP, there’s more than enough people to do both WvW and EotM. A lot of servers play for pride, so allowing others to run over them will keep some core guilds around to cap BLs.
Just because I spend a few hundred Gold buying set 1 minis, doesn’t mean I’m trying to manipulate anything at all.
I understand the need for a tax for Listing an item and the tax for the actual sell. I do not want to remove these as I see them as necessary.

Tonite was one of the few nites that Anet Devs didn’t run with TTS for the Wurm attempt, so they couldn’t see how bad the last fix was. Instead of programming the Wurm Head to not leave/be pulled from the arena ring, they made it Invulnerable once it does. This is quite sad, as the last two runs had Cobalt run into the water, causing a long period of Invulnerability. That caused us to lose previous DPS time, as we had to wait for him to wiggle back into play.
So as a solution, I propose that either his movement mechanics be updated so he doesn’t leave the arena at any point, or increase the ring size of Cobalt so we don’t have to suffer through resets while the timer ticks.

Sounds fair. If there are inactive players on a full server, makes sense to move them away so active players can get on. And then if the inactive player decides to play again, he can enjoy his new home, and make new friends!
While it’s only been about 12 hours since the reset, I can’t help but notice some rather disturbingly lopsided scores in the current NA matchups. In particular, the BG/JQ/SoR fight and the Mag/SBI/BP matchup. I’ve never seen such imbalances before in my few months of playing, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s happening the first new cycle since EotM.
There’s no imbalance. Maguuma’s skill level has always been off the charts.
Well, I guess this thread has just helped to assert just how bad this community has gotten. When children get bored, they have nothing else to do but try and ruin another’s fun, I guess.
I resisted buying a ComTag for a long time. I criticised PvE only commanders, referring to them as ‘Lootenants’, and swore I wouldn’t get one since I have no special skills or knowledge that entitles me to one. I got one simply because I was at a Marionette battle where there was NO useful exchange of information and an aformentioned Lootenant was hopping about like a grawl when we should have been preparing. I got the ComTag not for some selfish desire to look ‘big’, I got it so that I could help rally people and prevent event failures.
You know what? I hope I do get a refund (I submitted the ComTag view blocking as a bug), since 100g is more valuable to me than helping a ‘community’ which doesn’t care.
Thank goodness some people can still make constructive posts.
Sorry. Anet doesn’t refund merchant-made purchases. Please be more careful about expensive purchases in the future. Thanks for playing!
The removal is to address the manner in which it is communicated in game. There will be a requirement to reach a rank in WvW prior to purchasing the Gift when we are able to provide adequate messaging to let players know why they can’t purchase it and what they need to do in order to be able to purchase it.
You’ve been missing for 2 months mate. Aside from changes to the Gift requirements, have you been working on new stuff for WvW? Or are you just prepping for WvW Season 2?
