Do we need 5 Trinkets? Or can we just have 1

Also would make the game less confusing in same aspects for players.
Im not sure i buy that argument. I mean seriously how dumb do players have to be to get confused with what to put in 5 slots. If you want zerk put 5 zerks. You want all soldier trinkets put 5 in there. Reducing flexibility for other players so as to cater for lazy, 2 brain celled players is just silly.
Im more or less talking about as a Whole. There are Rings/Trinkets/Ascended ones, some are Infused others arnt, You cant Dbl CLick to add to the open slot, and You cant really view them, Then there are some that changes your colors and add auros.
Also What about Legendary Trinkets? I dont want to make 5 of them for 900g each :o
Having 1 to work for a legendary will feel right.
Wouldnt that make all those ascended trink drops in chests useless? Some people like the feeling of getting an ascended ring in WvW chest etc. Or simply the progression of working for gear and slowly building up to full ascended set giving a sense of accomplishment.
When i make my builds sometimes i have a specific armor stat or power stat or crit chance stat that im targeting and i am able to get to that by tweaking my accessories much more easily (and cheaply) than having to tweak armor or weapons. Removing that just makes it a lot less flexibile and to be honest, more boring.
The worst thing about sPvP is that you get locked into a specific stat set. Most of the time i dont want all that condition damage from using a Carrion Amulet for example. I would rather have some condition damage and more vitality or power or whatever. sPvP is the dumbed down version of WvW and much the worse for it imho.

Oh for the love of GOD NOOOOOO!!!!
Sometimes i like to switch a couple of zerker pieces for knights or even cleric on my guard. pls dont dumb it down like in PVP
TBH i dont see how PS/EA is boring. Its not like comparing Shoutbow with a GS/Hammer build in sPvP (I admit shoutbow can be pretty boring).
Running PS/EA with GS Axe/Mace has lots of heavy hitting/fun moves and is quite immersive enough. 100blades, Whirlwind, Eviscerate, Crushing Blow, Tremor (on trash mobs). What build do you use that you feel is significantly more interesting/less boring?
Thats great that 100b can be used while moving but PLEASE dont nerf its damage. The damage is already backloaded as it is and enemies dodge it.
I think a lot of you are over hyping PS/EA. i also did this when until i watched a pod-cast yesterday with Brazil, Nemesis, and some other guy… anyways the party wide dps increase is nice if your fellow players can manage good dps uptime and they know how to play their class ex. they could be a staff ele with one of the highest theoretical dps’s over a 30 second period of time, but as soon as they die or as soon as they dont know that they should be using Meteor storm or 100% uptime lava font etc… the effectiveness of PS/EA drops significantly. PS/EA will not make bad players good. It will make mediocre players look better and it may even detract from a team where an engi or ele is solo stacking might before a fight. PS/EA is a band-aid for mediocre players. Good players will combo field and bad players dont benefit enough from PS/EA to make it useful imo.
This is pretty terrible logic. “Don’t run party buffs because the rest of the party has bad dps.” That’s called a self-fulfilling prophecy. Even with 4 other players in Nomads you being on PS is increasing the overall party Power by 3,600 which is like having a second Berserker geared player on the team. Switching to DPS warrior isn’t going to provide that kind of upgrade.
As far as “mediocre players” go, most speed clear guilds run PS+EA so take that for what it’s worth.
^ THIS! as PS/EA war with FGJ, Sig of Rage, Forceful Greatsword Trait and a sigil of strength in my GS i can provide 25 might stacks (750 power+150 from EA) without even breaking a sweat. If i decide to bring 2 banners (discipline and Strength) thats an additional 170 of power/precision/ferocity and condition damage to EVERYONE.
So summary, i give 1070 power, 1070 Condi damage plus 170 additional precision/ferocity/condi to entire party.
That is incredibily useful to anyone in the team regardless of skill level or rotation use.
For a team member to “waste” that power they would have to literally unequip weapons and AFK.
Nothing to big, just reduce the healing on meditations and increase the CD on meditation
60s on intervation
30s on smite condiThe problem are meditation being used to often
Nerf rangers maybe? …
hahah i was gonna say the same thing…..Ranger coming onto Guard board with a nerf request…..
Brb gonna post a QQ on ranger board. lol
I run PS/EA and it makes a huge difference when running with pugs or guild teams…. 0 to 25 might stacks in 3.2 seconds (exaggerating but you know what i mean)
I actually enjoy playing that build but no one forces me to run it. I look at team comp and if no Ele i def run PS/EA. if there is an ele i sometimes jump on my guard instead.
Most of the time its 3 guildies and 2 pugs so i almost always run PS/EA.
Great sword with Sword/Focus on other weapon set. Use 3 knights/3 zerk pieces of armor. Same 3/3 split with accessories. For weapons can use Zerk or if you want to be tankier go Knights. If you primarily do PVE in a group the Altruistic Healing will give you plenty of sustain. Add Empowering Might and you will boost your dps while getting even more self healing (via altruistic healing)
The classic 0/1/6/6/1 build works very well. Its not meta but its pretty good none the less.
If you want even more tankiness you could swap all the zerk pieces mentioned above for Soldiers but i think thats just too tanky.

LOL yeah the fried dumpling food was new to me too. I saw it in a YouTube vid last week. Bought a stack to play with and its crazy on my warrior. Using Forceful Greatsword plus sigil of strength on the GS plus this food and Hoelbrak runes makes for some crazy might stacking,
I played Rev and Guardian and no the new traits for guardian were not in the closed beta. I think its safe to assume they were not there for Warriors either.
i used it for a while and it works very well. I just got bored with it so decided to become more of a small scale/Havoc guardian. Using GS Scepter/Focus. If i go in a zerg now i usually run on my warrior.
The AH frontline build is very tanky and very effective boost to a zerg.
What i can tell you is that Altruistic Healing with a staff is the Meta build for front line Zerg Guardians
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Guardian_-_AH_Frontliner
Staff paired with Hammer
im actually quite excited for guards in HoT. Ive been maining a warrior the last few months but HoT might make me go back to guard.
If they ever make Permeating Wrath proc around target then Supreme Justice/Permeating Wrath along with burning that stacks with intensity could literally bring the fires of hell to Tyria!
Add more mobs like in SW that have high toughness but susceptible to condis. Makes for more useful hybrid builds, less zerker.
Inc sinister meta… such diversity
And zerker meta is more diverse?
It would be a refreshing change to build my guard and war for more condi damage unlike the full zerk gear that i have right now.
Would also be more interesting in WvW when fighting kiting classes.

Thanks Thaddeus. I’ll have to try it out again.
Why even play warrior if winning is so important that you are willing to sink low enough to use longbow? When you use longbow nobody respect you and in every fight you are loser even if you win.
LOL….does anyone play “Conquest” 5v5 “Match” if winning is not important to them? I think they are all in PVE.
And the respect part? I think every class has a cheese build that you could say does not deserve respect and yet i come across them all the time in sPvP.
One question for you pro PVE guards out there. I’m so used to running AH or Medis that i find it difficult to run without them. How do you manage your sustain without either of the above? Is it all 100% active defence? Thats gotta be pretty high skill level no?
Thanks
I really hope ANET changes its mind and allows us to slot Adept traits in Master slot and Adept/Master traits in GM slot. How can having extra build diversity hurt?
its been said those adept honor traits are weak (fall dmg redux & rez traits) and could be combined, opening a spot for evasive power
+1
Bulwark is about as good as it gets but is dependant on having a mace. Even then healing is more on the “meh” side vs its current counterpart that gives a constant +250.
indeed, right now, either u use honor w/ a mace, or u use honor and accept u are using 1 less adept trait than everyone else
+1 that has got to be worst adept choices for any profession, hands down.
ANET pls fix this.
BETA felt like stepping over revenant corpses all the time…
no one had a clue how to play them, most tough events were lost because of it.
Not sure what instance you were on but i played revenant and i only died once right at the beginning because i failed to read what the skills do (i was too excited) and basically spammed buttons….
Respawned, spent a couple minutes reading the skills and never died again while doing the story demo mode twice (once with hammer and once with axe/mace) plus other events.
The amount of healing revenant had (when traited for it) was incredible. Never felt at risk of dying.
Massive MUTIPLAYER Online Role Playing Game.
Middle-aged Men Online Role-Playing Girls.
I had to laugh at that one.
thanks very much
So do i need 65 skill point challenges or 100?
I currently have at least 65 on both my level 80s.
Has there been any information as to when the new build/traits will be released? (im not talking about specializations) just the new/merged traits.
Thanks
I must have not read that because i created a guardian in beta to at least try the new traits (not dragonhunter) and none of them were there so ended up playing revenant the whole time.
yup had a lot of fun on Revenant last night. As you say those traits that work on dodge are OP. Stability on dodge, Retaliation on Dodge and then Might when struck while you have retaliation….lol
And the sustain was amazing. Heal when condition applied to you, heal when struck. heal yourself when using a skill that has an energy cost (which was all of them i think!)
Then the Axe/Mace combo was pretty neat i thought. One skill was a fire field and another was a blast finisher. Both on short cooldowns. So MORE might stacking!!!
Im looking forward to making a Revenant when HoT is released.
Quick question since i can log in to beta till the last stress test tonight. Do you have access to all weapons, sigils, runes, armor etc? (when i say all i mean all normally available to your class). Do i need to buy from TP etc?
Thanks
You had them in the itinerary.
you have all types of weapons/srigils/runes/armor in inventory???

Thanks Ragnar. I actually did just that last night. Since both Leeching and Mischief are extremely cheap, i swapped them out for a few fights to see how they did (no change to traits etc). I was running 0/1/6/6/1 so dont have vuln on blind.
First thing i noticed was i have to be very careful when i actually weapon swap. Im used to dodging and then weapon swapping at end of dodge (in order to make sure my sigil of energy isnt wasted). But what i found was many times after the dodge roll i was not facing the enemy and then the snowball effect doesnt proc. The sigil of leeching always works since its the “next” attack that hits will proc the effect.
I decided to go back to leeching because its guaranteed (at least it feels like it.)
I dont use full knights.
You can see how much toughness it gives you by playing with this calculator
its on a weapon based trait now. No blanket 2H mastery anymore in HOT.
Hi, for my guard in open world pve / Silverwastes/WvW etc (not dungeons) i currently have Sigil of Energy and Sigil of Leeching on both weapons. Energy for obvious reasons.
I tried Fire and Air in the past but found Leeching to be useful due to the 2k Crit damage and 1K healing it gave.
I was wondering whether the Mischief sigils may be better than leeching. Would the ability to avoid 1 attack (via blind) be better than doing up to 2k damage and 1k healing? Admittedly blinding 4 people (and so avoiding postentially 4 hits ) is goodbut how often is that scenario?)
Thanks
TBH looking at the skill changes in the other trait lines i much prefer other builds i can make without taking Dragonhunter right now. Of course everything could/will change before release regarding balancing etc.
why on earth would you want a base crit chance of 96% when warriors have access to so much fury?
agreed. being forced to choose from only 3 traits per slot really reduces diversity. In current system i have several builds where i max a line but dont take the GM trait. Merciless Hammer for warrior for example.
Dont forget the sword #2 is a leap which you are supposed to use after you drop your LB firefield to get the Fire Aura around you. That gives you might each time you are hit (and burns enemies). A great way to keep those might stacks up. I tried Axe on a shout bow build for a few matches and found i was really missing that gap closer with the leap.
The loss of those rather powerful bleeds (when fully might stacked) and the fire aura was just too much to give up for the stronger Auto Attack and burst of axe.

i do SW in full zerker 0/3/6/4/1 Altruistic Healing / Empowering Might with Renewed Justice for the VoJ spam, and with GS/Hammer. Its a lot of fun. Get in the middle of all the action and let the AH heals roll in, while having over 40% crit and 200% crit damage.
Like anything in PVE, the faster you can kill it the less healing you need.
the warrior hate is strong in this one.
Makes me want to get my troll hat and go QQ on the Thief/Mes/whatever forums about XYZ skills just to give balance to the Force Universe.
im just surprised people would farm 60 hours or so for a chance to play beta for what 8 hours?
im a casual player so not even sure i will be able to log in on the day of the beta test. I go to SW for the gold/loot farm and to test some pve builds . Getting a portal was a mildly pleasant bonus.
Not sure what the best solution would have been in terms of awarding portals but i guess placing it as a drop from a level 80 mob would at least draw high level players. And maybe the low % drop idea was deliberate in that “on average” it should take a long time for it to drop and as such by default ANET will most likely end up with beta testers with a lot of time on their hands to play/test.
i got portal from VW.
My suggestion for those who still dont get is to tag as many mobs as possible and move on! Since you get portal from chest popups when mobs are killed, not when you AOE loot
Exactly this ^
I logged onto SW on Saturday. Wasn’t even looking for portal. I was there to test my GS/LB build on my war. LB obviously tags a ton of mobs with firefield. Did ONE Breach and VW event and picked up 2 portals during that time.
RNG is a b*tch. I find when i don’t give a cr*p whether i get something or not, i tend to be pleasantly surprised when i do get it, vs grinding for something and getting frustrated every hour that passes without getting it.
In this case i didn’t care (and am still ambivalent) about getting portal.
hmmm i agree that this randomness of beta tester choosing is not optimal. I mean i dont particularly care about beta testing (i wont say no but i wasn’t intentionally farming for portals). I go to SW just to test my warrior builds against relatively tough and varied mobs. I was using GS/Longbow and went through one round of Breach and Vinewrath. When i was cleaning out bag noticed TWO portals. So very random indeed.
I supposed the AOE multi mob tagging ability of LB fire fields helped a lot.
Wow That was some serious necro post revival!
Just for the fun of it i tried Mace/Focus/Hammer last night in Silverwastes
i calculated the regen, typed it up and then my browser crashed so im not gonna type it all again but basically i can get 952 hp/sec on average using normal rotations WHILE SOLO! I can get WAY more if allies around due to Altruistic Healing. (and there are always allies in SW).
Its super tanky (due to regen) in mostly zerker gear (knights weapons and 2 cleric accessories)
had a lot of fun with it and never felt like my HP was ever dropping.
On my guard i go 0/3/6/4/1 AH/EM with renewed justice for the blind/might spam . Equip GS/Hammer and all zerk gear and i basically can jump in the middle of anything and never die. I can solo mobs with 40+% crit chance and 200% crit damage. If there are any allies around i literally never see my HP go down due to the AH/EM/Renewed Justice/Symbol boon combo.
Look the thing that I loved about gw1 was the 1000s of skills available to my character…but I eventually grew up and realized that you still only use a small set of these skills. The people who are going to complain about losing access to those two trait lines, need to go back and really look at their builds and see that the overwhelming majority of the time, they are going to have two trait lines that they weren’t using anyways. or if they were it was for some negligible minor trait… especially since (using the water ele traits that have been revealed as a example) the traits seem to be getting better and doing more.
Im afraid i disagree.
I have 5 builds that i like to use for different scenarios on my warrior as follows and for when im just bored with one.
6,0,4,0,4 (shin’s build) for WvW
2,0,6,0,6 (TDM legendary 3.0) for WvW
0,0,6,2,6 (leg specialist GS/hammer) for WvW
0,5,0,6,3 (Phalanx Strength) for dungeons
0,5,6,0,3 (forceful GS) for Silverwastes. As you can i see i go 6 deep in every trait line except ARMS (i go 5) . If im forced to only be able to spec into 3 trait lines im going to get bored real quick.
umm, all 5 of your builds utilizes only 3 trait lines. We get 3 full trait lines. So… what’s the problem?
OK correct me if im wrong but i can only choose 3 trait lines or can i swap the 3 trait lines for other 3 trait lines at any time? What im saying if im forced to choose Defense, Tactics and Discipline. Can i switch them the next day for Strength, Defense and Discipline for my other build? Or am i stuck with my first 3 choices forever?
You can respec specializations just like you can do traits now. You are not locked in.
Oh ok in that case forget what i wrote. Thanks

I fear by limiting choice to 3 trait lines, build diversity will actually get worse. What i love about this game is the freedom to switch builds on the fly to try new tactics and ideas. Oversimplying killed a previous game i used to play. I hope it doesnt do this here.
Theorycrafting will eventually show one or two top builds for each profession and you will see these everywhere in the game. Cookie cutter toons everywhere.
I hope im proved wrong.
