I think burn guardians are fine too tbh. But, admittedly, I main necro… Still, they only do ONE CONDITION, and the skills with which they can apply multiple stacks are on much higher cooldowns than the same skills on d/d ele.

I also play guard. And as said before we only have one damaging condition and in order to hit you with multiple stacks we have to use high cooldown skills. Once they are done we have no way to apply multiple stacks. If we take Supreme Justice and Permeating wrath to get faster burn application (one stack every 3 hits intead of one stack every five hits) that means we have to give up our best condition clear trait and stability. Everything is a compromise.

Altruistic heals Shout Guard with GS/Hammer and zerk/knights gear can do some serious damage in Silverwastes.
Since the update though ive been running Supreme Justice, Permeating Wrath with Carrion gear and rounding up as many mobs as i can and AOE burning them. Using GS, Mace/Focus.
For vine wrath events you can switch to Staff or Scepter if you dont want to stay in melee. Staff is good as a support weapon to give all those might stacks.

there shouldnt be 40% condi duration food. it is too much of a benefit over people who dont take the counter -40% duration food.
imagine there was +25% power damage food. Everyone would feel forced to either go power and use that, or take -25% damage food.
This ^ if they had +25% or even +40% power damage food, you would hear the QQ from condi users from half a world away.

as mentioned above go with Warrior.
Brawlers recovery is 1 condition every 5 seconds
Cleansing IRE can be upto 3 conditions on every burst (provided you land the burst)
Hoelbrak/Melandru runes are -20/-25% condi duration
lemongrass soup -40% condi duration
Dogged march reduces the duration of movement impeding condis even more.
And if you really want, put a sigil of cleansing on one weapon and sigil of purity/generosity on the other one.
That gives your 4 condition removals every 10 seconds and another 3 potentially if you land a burst skill every 10 seconds.
That plus the food plus dogged march makes for a very powerful Anti-Condi class.

Damage is ridiculous overall in pvp/wvw right now, but especially on guard’s burn which executes too fast for 9k ticks. Even if I dodge most of the big damage skills and the primary burn skill its too much.
New condi meta has made tankiness feel entirely useless. Even maximizing available condi clear doesn’t seem to help all too much.
How is a guardian able to get 9k burn ticks on you in sPvP? Are you just sitting in his purging flames field while he uses torch and judges intervention and whirling wrath? I mean i use a hybrid burn guard in pvp and ive yet to come across anyone who doesnt immediately dodge as soon as i use judges intervention into a group on point.
And if as you say you are dodging his primary hits, you shouldnt be taking 9k burn ticks. The math doesnt add up here. Unless im very much mistaken.

yeah around 20 stacks i think which means he didnt dodge anything and probably poured some gasoline on himself before the fight started.

If I had my hand it it, I’d do something like:
- Nerf burn damage by 25%, increase durations by 25% (Net about 7.5% damage, lower ticks to bring in line with other conditions, which actually also need to be brought UP, especially in case of Poison and Bleeding. Sad day when bleeding is less stackable than Burning and deals a quarter of the damage…)
Sooo basically go almost back to what burning was before the latest patch… a useless addon damage that guards did while speccing power. gee thanks

i find it funny since it feels like a easy fix. Reduce fire dmg by 10% and then on d/d eles have there ring of fire go from 3 stacks to 2.
reasons for this is bad players can spam the ring and then other bad players roll threw back and forth. Also you dont want to kill burn builds for the guardian,staff ele and condi ranger. Also with the way mesmers and thieves are we dont want the meta to change to them being op again. For me this would make it so easy to fix.
Yes we dont want burns to be killed for guardians after waiting 3 years for decent damage on our one and only condition. Please look at application skills/traits rather than the actual damage. ie applying ICDs etc on some skills

Rather than adding more amulets I just wish they’d just implement a multi item stat system…
Agreed….i posted a thread on this before. Right now we can select 2 things. Runes and Amulet.
Why cant we select 4 things
1 Runes (as it is)
2 Amulet (as it is)
3 Weapon stats
4. Armor stats
That way we dont get extreme builds like we do now and can run more balanced stats.
Surely its not that complicated even for the most casual player.

stop finding the blobs…go to a map and take a tower or 2 see who shows up if the blob shows up goto another map take a tower….blobs don’t jump maps that quick for small groups

Protection is already a very powerful boon, no need to buff it (and at the same time it would buff classes/builds with high acess to protection – most of them don’t struggle against condis anyways).
Btw an “anti-condi boon” already exists -> resistance.
Actually as more builds gear towards condi and less towards physical attacks, Protection is nowhere near as “powerful” as it used to be.

Guardians only have Burn as a damaging condi. We have no cover condis whatsoever as a base skill. (im not counting sigil procs like doom/geomancy) Please dont nerf burning. Rather look at why burning is so strong on Ele and adjust that. (blind on burn etc).

I came from another game that had friendly fire in World PvP zones, with only your 4 man party immune to your damage. It was a complete mess. You couldnt do any GvG and as the other poster said it basically encouraged everyone to go ranged. So Rangers and Mages reined supreme.

I play Hybrid Medi guard in sPvP and i find when im joining an existing fight on point i i can do a lot of suprise damage which can help down a player very quickly as well as aoe burn on point.
As mentioned above its probably weaker than power medi guard but i enjoy playing the hybrid.

Guardians only have access to one condition, burning. And the only way they can do a lot of damage is if they are using torch and condi runes in which case kite them. If they are using scepter, you can strafe avoid that so freaking easily.
So if you can cleanse the burn stacks when they burst you with Judges Intevention they have nothing left, especially if you can kite and do ranged damage to them.

I really love this build. After using it for a while now, I’m actually finding that I’m winning more of my fights. It requires more strategic gameplay than Sword imo, and it’s just kind of satisfying stunning someone for close to 4s and HB’ing away……………….Also just be patient. I’m going to say it again, but patience is really big here.

Its kinda funny how people say its just X build with trait and sigil and elite changed.
I mean come on, ANET drastically reduced the flexibility of builds in the JUNE 23 update. Pretty much every build is going have a base setup with minor tweaks. You only have 3 choices per slot now and some of them will never ever ever be taken by anyone. Most often there is really only 1 really viable choice in a given slot.
What were you expecting? A brand new talent line that no one had seen before and TapDatMouse had unlocked?

Why does it use shield? For the defence on 5? You could use thundering mace and cull the weak instead? Or get dogged march.
Shield 4 is a stun which helps you land the SkullCrack which then sets up the 100b combo.
Shield 5 is amazing for might stacking and reflect and of course blocks.

It really is tempting to switch to GS/Hammer, but the block/reflect potential of Mace/Shield always brings me back. It really satisfies you to reflect a Rapid Fire back at a Ranger, then Skullcrack him and open up a nice 100b.
I agree here. I do like GS/Hammer but traited shield for the reflect and might stacking plus reflect with mace 2 is just sooooooooo good against the rangers who blindly hit rapid fire. Plus i like the shield when im in the middle of a big fight on point and a guard goes Whirling Wrath. I can decide to use Shield 5 to block it and gain might stacks or shield 4 to interrupt.

Use Mace 3 to proc Last Stand and put it on its 90s cd, fight him with your gs for about 10s, fight him like you’d normally fight a warrior.
But a full stance warrior is going to have a bunch of stun breaks beyond this, possibly including Endure Pain, Defy Pain, and Frenzy (i.e. 5 stun breaks). Patience is really what it’ll take. Do your normal rotations, and be prepared to abort if he breaks the stun in case he’s setting you up for a burst.

I’ve played hammer mace/Shield in pvp with that exact trait setup in the past. The problem is when you come across anyone that has stability your weakness/confusion is completely negated. Also there is practically no burst damage with the build.
Its fun to use on noob players in unranked but a simple warrior balanced stance can wreck your entire rotation for example. Or if a warrior has “last stand” trait then you dont even see that he has stability until you have started your rotation.
I found its best uses were in team fights where the enemy is busy fighting someone else and you can come in a CC them. But 1v1 against any halfway decent player and i found the damage to be very lacking.

I like Skull Cracker build on my war but i have to say if I come across a double stability warrior (balanced stance + Last Stand trait) it can be a real headache fighting them.

Well, Feel my Wrath is a shout so affect also allies which is good.
Too bad most guardians run Renewed Focus.
I love Feel My Wrath on my Medi Guard….makes for a super fast opening burst plus of course applies to allies as well.

Bunker guard is meant to hold a point just long enough for reinforcements to come . They do this well. But its very difficult for them to kill anyone….but then again thats why its called bunker guard and not dps guard.

I love how players QQ so much when they encounter a class that hard counters them. In an ideal world every class should be able to hard counter a couple classes and BE hard countered by a couple classes. If there was a class that could not be hard countered then thats all you would see in PvP since you only need a level 2 toon to do it.

Had today courtyard match where straight from start 2 players in my team started whining about the map and were suiciding on purpose so we would lose the match and game end faster. I reported them sending ticket with screenshot, though I doubt nothing will happen.
I dont like the AFKers either but i also dont agree that they should be banned but they should get penalized in some way or other. Maybe make them have a game deficit where their pvp track progression doesnt “Progress” for one game for each AFK game?
Dont know how that would be implemented but that would really hit them where it hurts.
But also that would just shift players to do what you said above. Which is just to run out and suicide. That would not trigger any afk checking routines.

Trama and Vaans were playing Killshot before the June 23rd patch. If anything its harder to play now since you cant have warrior sprint and crack shot together. So your mobility is worse.
It probably suprises a lot of people since “the meta” is GS/Hammer and so many warriors use it that it becomes easy for other classes to learn to counter it or at least to predict the rotations. When they come across a slightly different setup it gives the warrior the suprise element.
I personally like skull crack or eviscerate (axe/shield) since i dont see as many of those.

There is a little subtle point here that is like to comment on.
Don’t try to make 1 build that does it all in wvw. You will simply end up with a mediocre build if you try to do so.
Make a roaming build and then make a zerging build. Have both builds ( armor, weapons, trinkets, utilities, traits) available in your inventory and ready to be swapped to at any point. If you feel like roaming, equip the roaming build. If you feel like zerging, equip the zerging build.
The way gw2 deals with a builds allows for such setup. There is NO COST to retraiting your specialization and you can carry the extra gear in your bags. That’s the way I’ve been doing it for the past year and it’s been working very well. It allows me to make specialized builds that I’m ready to swap to whenever needed. Burn guard, medi guard, zerg guard, healing guard, .. etc
+1, i carry quite a few diff sets of gear with me at all times. If solo i go medi. If zerging/havoc i go more support/shout orientated.
If full on ZERG and they want a staff guard i have that too.
Hoelbrak/Traveller rune gear, all easily swapped in less than a minute.

That’s a very good question. I an interested in getting the answer from the devs. As stability now has stacks in intensity, it follows reason that it should prof proc AH per stack in the same manner might procs AH .. If it doesn’t, then that should be considered a bug and brought to the devs attention. Can anyone confirm what’s the behavior of this in game at its current state?
I agree. When we give 3 might stacks we get 3 procs on AH. Same with 12 might stacks from staff Empower. So logically stability giving 5 stacks now instead of duration should be 5 procs of AH. i’ll try and test tonight if i can.

Hi all, ive been looking at AH again after the patch and i was wondering since stability is now stacks rather than duration, Stand Your Ground gives 5 stacks of stability. Does that mean i get 5 procs of Altruistic Healing for each time i use stand your ground ? (well 6 since i also give retaliation).
Havent been able to test it yet but if it does thats a nice little buff to AH healing on that skill.

The only small problem with Flame Legion is that now that fire stack in intensity and not duration, it’s harder to keep 100% uptime of burning when you play alone.
Flame legion with Radiance (renewed justice) in open world pve or dungeons keeps that 6th bonus up very easily.
