There are 3 stats that directly affect condition damage, the same as there is for direct damage.
They are condition damage, condition duration, and precision.
Maxing the 3 of those will give you the highest possible condition damage.
I dont think condition damage can crit so why do you need precision?

You should look at the new match summaries at the end of the match. Where it shows Damage dealt, Condi damage dealt, Damage recieved, Condi damage recieved, Healing to self. Healing to others etc.,
At the end of every match i still recieve much more direct damage than i do condi damage.
Then again i run a build that has a ton of condi cleansing ability.

Game would be more balanced in general if we just removed the rune factor from PvP altogether.
To often are players complaining about passives anyways, maybe we should just have 5 stat, 6th utility that is “not a triggered proc” and ban all others.
I don’t really advocate this, and it is a bit lazy but it would solve multiple issues.
You are right it is lazy and a terrible solution. PvP is already highly restrictive when you only get to choose runes, sigils and amulet. Removing runes will make it even more brain dead.

Yes because the downed person will be ressed, 100b doesnt do anything against it
(no joke, even today.. ressing from some classes does more healing than your full 100b)
What are you talking about??? Ive cleaved downed players and the player ressing him. With high crit chance and crit damage and forceful greatsword trait, 100b hits like a truck on stationary target which is what a downed player and a ressing player is.
And i usually have air/fire sigils so the damage is not insignificant.

I play skullcrack occassionally in pvp (GS Mace/Shield) and it is definitely satisfying to land that hundred blades but its takes quite a bit of effort to setup and if you come across a double stability warrior or guard with a lot of blocks/blinds/stability then you are gonna have a tough time.
Plus you can be kited relatively easily.
Its still a lot of fun tho. The shield reflect gives me lots of giggles when noob Pew Pew rangers use rapid fire on me and end up taking off half their HP before they realise whats going on.

I run Hybrid Powe/Burn guard all the time in PvP. I much prefer it over pure burn. The reason i went hybrid is because i also play warrior a lot in pvp and my warrior build has so much condi cleanse its basically condi immune. I have no problems fighting pure burn guards. So by going hybrid if i come across any classes that run good condi cleanse (or actually play as a team with a bunker shout guard/warrior for cleansing) then at least my power damage is still good.

So what if burn gives a build spike damage, for builds that rotate around that one condi like burn guard and burn engi, it’s literally 1 condi clear from negating it, kinda like how 1 block or 1 invuln blocks power bursts. No, this will never happen. Cap it at 25 if we need a cap, I get hard countered by too many GOOD PLAYERS to have this happen to me, not you people crying cause you want to play CS thief against a burn guard or PU mesmer with 0 condi clear against a 3 man condi comp.
while I’m at it, lets just cap the 15 torment, 15 confusion mesmers, they do the same damage, same idea, but instead of it being 1 condi removed to negate the burst it’s 2 OH LORD JESUS PLEASE NO. Oh I have an Idea too, the 3k/sec ranger dps condi builds, yea, need to be nerfed too.

I really liked the idea of retaliation scaling on toughness.
Keep dreaming. This will NEVER happen. If you scale damage with defense then you make tankier builds deal comparable damage to less tanky ones. Why go less tanky then? It would lead to a huge problem in PvP/WvW.

Yes i do play hybrid burn guard. But i also play warrior and having played warrior a lot i know that pure burn guard in pvp is not all that great. Im way more afraid of fighting an ele than i am of a guard. My war has a lot of condi cleanses (brawlers recovery plus cleansing ire plus soldier runes/shouts using Longbow) which makes a burn guard almost completely useless while it still gets roasted by an ele.
i honestly dont know how any class with at least 2 or 3 condi clears on a 30 sec cooldown has any problems dealing with a pure burn guard. Its the main reason i went to hybrid instead. Ive come across way too many good players that can cleanse well the ONLY damaging condi a guard has. A hybrid guard at least has some physical damage to fall back on.

Would love to be able to access the last 5 matches stats from the lobby. That by itself could help us fine tune our builds/play styles.

Again its not burning its the frequent application of burning that is the proble. Look at guards. They have only one Damaging condi which is burning and they have to blow pretty much all their cooldowns (which includes one of their meditation heals) to burst you. Its immediately on a 36 sec CD. Purging Flames when traited is a 28 sec CD.
If you cant clear one stack of burning every 30 seconds or so then you really need to take a look at your build.
The problem comes with Eles that can apply burn stacks in many diff ways in rapid fire mode.

Agree with Choppy here. Rifle is very niche….nice when firing into a zerg but as Cygnus said its still not that great otherwise why arent we seeing more rifle warriors in zergs?

i looked at that build and i agree with some of the posters here i much prefer GS with X/Focus on my hybrid burn build. Does much more consistent damage especially when i come across a good condi cleansing player. The one trick burn condition is just too risky to rely upon against good players. Works against soloQ nubs.
For example on my war i sometimes run the “newer” shielded shoutbow (the one ROM runs) and that build is basically condi immune. Once i played that build i realised that i needed to spec hybrid on my guard so that my physical damage didnt feel like a wet noodle if i came across a condi cleansing class.

i noticed that too on focus 5 the protection is useless unless your enemy hits you for lots fo small attacks therby breaking your blocks before the 4 seconds are up. The protection is useful on focus 4 since all it takes is one auto attack and the blind is gone.
having said all that i do use focus mastery on one of my builds.

I like the proposal of retaliation having lower uptime duration but doing damage as a precentage of the damage recieved, adjusted by power. So you will still need to gear for power but now the damage is scaled by damage recieved.
lower uptime should help prevent perma retaliation on guardians.
The scaled power will make it fairer by not punishing Engies with their flame throwers while at the same time kill shot warriors will need to think about sniping a guard with retal up.

A guard has one burn burst to drop those stacks on you…..surely everyone has at least ONE condi cleanse. If you say it was already on CD because you used it on someone else thats not the guard’s problem thats yours. 1v1 against a guard and it very easy to cleanse his ONE AND ONLY damaging condition. Then he has to wait a full 30+seconds to get purging flames and Judges Intervention off CD, by which time your condi cleanse should be off CD too.

Tested this last night in sPvP. Not that its really a good indicator of skill (im def not what you would call a skilled pvp’er) but I was top scorer in 3 of the 4 matches i played in. (unranked, no premade team)
Since the June patch ive been playing mostly Hybrid Guard or Skullcrack warrior in sPvP, but this shielded shoutbow is pretty decent (obviously i only played 4 games last night)
Hybrid guard has faster burst damage but this shoutbow has more consistent Damage over Time, is tankier and is more supportive of a team with the might stacking, condition cleansing and shout heals than a medi guard.
Its not as exciting to play as a GS/Hammer build but i really like using shield reflect. Prior to this shoutbow i was using SkullCrack war in sPvP. Skullcrack has other issues like dealing with kiting players and players with high stability uptime etc.

It is actually pretty annoying that with the new traits like remove condition on weapon swap (which is 1 every 5 seconds) and cleansing ire (up to 3 also with very low cooldown) Warrior is already MUCH better at condition cleansing than Guardian with minimal investment, and now they’re getting another tool for condi cleansing which Guardian is supposed to be better at. Guardian has some decent condition cleansing options of course, but they’re mostly skills which limits other options much more and most have much longer cooldowns.
If you think Warriors are good at condi cleansing. Look at the new datamined thief skills. The stuff they can now get on every dodge is incredibile.
Heal on dodge (if successfully evaded an attack)
Swiftness on Dodge
Removal of Movement impairing condi on dodge
After dodge next attack does bonus damage
Extra dagger attacks on dodge
FINALLY remove a condition on dodge
Since us guards only have one condi (burning) dont expect to be able to kill a warrior or thief with burning.

You’d think at some point, people would spend 15 minutes of training if that frustrated. It’s amazing what investing a bit of time does. Even a simple outline of what gear works better than others makes a significant difference.
If you’re running as a guild group, and tagged as a guild group, you have no business tagging along, unless invited.
Theres no problem with my guild running together. We have TS and know when to res or stomp. But you can’t stop other players from tagging along. Many times ive seen pug players (including up levels) gravitate towards the battle. They are not on TS (at least not ours), they are not in our guild and so “training” as you say is not relevant here.
ANd to speak honestly, if you are loosing cuz you had upscaled on your zerg rallying opponent’s people, then well you deserve it. Or are you saying that you should win even with upscaled???
Upscales are everywhere. They are not part of the organised zerg/Guild group and as such tend to be uncoordinated and not aware of the tactics that are being called for by the Tag or Guild group driver.
So many times you will see the guild or (teamspeak using) zerg swerve away on a specific battle pattern, leaving the pugs to flounder around and get focused by the enemy. Its very easy to tell who they are in a battle.

Side question. Traits like symbolic avenger which does more damage to enemies standing in your symbols. Does that also increase burn damage or just physical damage?
Same with Retribution (increased damage while under the effects of Retaliation) does that only affect physical damage?

If you have more than 5 downed enemy players at one time and are still losing you probably should lose.
Have you ever played on a T1 server with the megablobs?
Have you ever had pug uplevels tag along while you are fighting and because they are probably level <20 walk right into the middle of a pile of red circles?
There are plenty of downed players on both sides.

Correct me if im wrong but stomping a player causes all downed players that have tagged the dead player to rally with no number limit.
I feel the number of players that can rally off a stomped player should be limited to 5 determined by order of last players that have tagged the dead player. Last hit first rally.
This should reduce the harmful impact of rallybots in a WvW battle.
Any thoughts on this?

Exactly….for me its a toss up between equiping staff and pressing 1 all day or watching paint dry. Same enjoyment level.
I’m not sure how anyone does extended SW farming without Netflix/Plex/whatever on a second monitor, regardless of build.
Make money while catching up on Sunny and Arrow and Carter and Flash and Archer and…well, you get it.
I suppose it depends on how much you play. I play for about an hour or so when i login (casual player) so i actually like to “play” the game.
I agree though, i dont think i could handle more than an hour of SW farming in one sitting.
